Workers in Primary Health Care (PHC) play a key role in coping with COVID-19, which required personal and work-flow changes, causing physical and emotional overload and stress, which could lead to Burnout Syndrome (BS). The objective of this study was to check the prevalence of BS in health professionals working in PHC in the municipality of Curitibanos, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The research was carried out between November 2020 and May 2021, a sociodemographic questionnaire, and the Brazilian version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS), which contains 22 questions and three dimensions - Emotional Exhaustion (EE), Depersonalization (DP) and Personal Fulfillment (PF), were applied. Data were collected and analyzed descriptively with subsequent statistical comparison. Participants were50 volunteers aged 40.1 ± 9.5 years, time in the profession of 10.8 ± 7.9 years. Results of the MBI-HSS showed the prevalence of risk was moderate for EE and high for DP and PF. However, no significant difference was detected between the MBI-HSS dimensions and sociodemographic variables. In conclusion, the prevalence of risk was 17.6+11.4 points in EE (moderate); 6.6+5.0 points in DP (moderate) and 36.8+6.6 points in RP (high), indicating that the evaluated population already demands some need for contingency or preventive care because it has a clear predisposition to BS. However, there was no statistical association with sociodemographic variables.

Burns cause different impacts on the individual life. Many are the problems faced by survivors, such as hypermetabolism that may persist years after the event. The aim was to assess aerobic capacity, level of physical activity and pain in adult burn victims after hospital discharge. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study. Participants (n = 60) were adult victims of moderate to severe burns, evaluated by six-minute walk test (6MWT), Pain Scale and International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). We applied Student’s t-test for independent samples and Mann-Whitney test for comparisons between medium and large burned; Chi-square test to compare the level of physical activity. Large burned (73%) patients prevailed among the 60 participants; there was a statistically significant trend in the distance predicted between groups (p = 0.066), with no change in performance of the aerobic capacity. 60% reported physical activity practice at least three times a week: walking, cycling and soccer. As for the level of pain, 40% reported moderate to severe persistent pain, even after complete healing of wounds. Most participants showed aerobic capacity within the normal range, despite the high body mass index reported, they reported doing physical activities of moderate intensity.

The aim of this study was to verify the benefits of an exercise program on functional capacity and balance in elderly community. A longitudinal study was conducted with 11 female subjects with mean age 77 (SD = 13) years. All individuals were evaluated at the beginning and at the end of the study by ‘Berg’ Balance Scale and ‘Timed Up and Go’ Test. Initially, the participants answered a questionnaire about the socio-demographics aspects, health conditions, falls and physical activity practice. Then, the subjects were submitted to a program of exercises for balance, strengthening and stretching muscles. The results of the ‘Berg’ Scale ranged from 46 to 56 points before the intervention, and from 50 to 56, after the intervention (p = 0.01). Individuals older than 75 years old had a better improvement (p = 0.04). In the ‘Timed Up and Go’ Test the percentage of improvement was 8.2% ( = 13.1; SD= 11.7). The exercise program showed a positive effect in improving risk factors of falls in the elderly community.Objetivo deste estudo foi verificar os benefícios de um programa de exercícios físicos na capacidade funcional e equilíbrio de idosos. Foi realizado um estudo longitudinal com a participação de 11 indivíduos do gênero feminino, com idade média de 77 anos (DP = 13). Todos foram avaliados no início e final do estudo pela Escala de Equilíbrio de Berg e pelo teste Timed Up and Go. Inicialmente, as participantes responderam um questionário por meio de entrevista, que abordava aspectos sociodemográficos, condições de saúde, quedas e prática de atividade física. Na sequência, as idosas foram submetidas a um programa de exercícios de treino de equilíbrio, fortalecimento e alongamentos musculares. Os resultados da escala de Berg variaram de 46 a 56 pontos, antes da intervenção e de 50 a 56 após a intervenção (p = 0,01). Os sujeitos com mais de 75 anos tiveram melhora superior (p = 0,04). No teste Timed Up and Go o percentual de melhora foi de 8,2% ( = 13,1; DP = 11,7). O programa de exercícios desenvolvido apresentou efeito positivo na melhora dos fatores de risco de quedas em idosos.
