Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES This research linked to intellectual history and the theory of history, aims to study some concepts used by Paulo Freire in the work Pedagogia do oprimido (1968) and in Pedagogia da autonomia (1996). The main concept analyzed is freedom precisely because this seems to be the utopian horizon of the author. He develops his work using other concepts such as humanization, alienation, social change, oppression, autonomy that are also discussed and analyzed in this research and that lead to a reflection of what is meant by freedom, or, as the author develops, by liberation, since he understands it as a permanent process. Thus, the methodology used is the philosophical hermeneutics, so that human beings develop the ability to leave something open through language, without establishing definitive conclusions and always establishing new meanings for concepts. Esta pesquisa ligada à história intelectual e à teoria da história, tem como objetivo estudar alguns conceitos utilizados por Paulo Freire na obra Pedagogia do oprimido(1968) e em Pedagogia da autonomia(1996). O principal conceito analisado é o de liberdade justamente porque este parece ser o horizonte utópico do autor. Ele desenvolve sua obra utilizando outros conceitos como humanização, alienação, mudança social, opressão, autonomia que também são discutidos e analisados nesta pesquisa e que levam a uma reflexão do que se entende por liberdade, ou, como desenvolve o autor, por libertação, já que ele a entende como um processo permanente. Assim, a metodologia utilizada é a hermenêutica filosófica, de modo que os seres humanos elaboram a capacidade de deixar algo em aberto por meio da linguagem, sem estabelecer conclusões definitivas e sempre estabelecendo novos significados para os conceitos.

The present study, inserted in the line of research of Memory and Patrimony of the Postgraduate Program in History of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, proposes an analysis of six profiles published in the “Realidade” magazine between the years 1966 and 1970: “Feliz aniversário Seu Artur”, “Êste é o Humberto”, “Um garôto chamado Artur”, “Dona Yolanda, a presidenta”, “Há um novo tempêro no poder” and “Êste é o presidente”. Written by the journalist Luiz Fernando Mercadante, the texts narrate, directly or indirectly, traces of the life of the first three leaders of Brazil's dictatorial government. Understood in this work as one of the stages of memory dispute, the press helped to build the image of dictators in the period. Based on Luiz Gonzaga Motta and John B. Thompson, a critical analysis of the narratives will be realized, in order to reveal the strategies of symbolic construction present in the texts and their ideological character as they represent the support of the power instituted by the military regime. To this purpose, the three narrators involved in the process of producing the profiles will also be analyzed: the vehicle, the journalist and the profiled character, seen here in a broader way, as the political context of each moment of the Civil-Military Dictatorship. Thus, it is also intended to understand the tension between transgression and conservation in the pages of “Realidade”. O presente estudo, inserido na linha de pesquisa de Memória e Patrimônio do Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, propõe uma análise de seis perfis publicados na revista Realidade entre os anos de 1966 e 1970: “Feliz aniversário Seu Artur”, “Êste é o Humberto”, “Um garôto chamado Artur”, “Dona Yolanda, a presidenta”, “Há um novo tempêro no poder” e “Êste é o presidente”. Escritos pelo jornalista Luiz Fernando Mercadante, os textos narram, de forma direta ou indireta, traços da vida dos três primeiros líderes do governo ditatorial do Brasil. Entendida neste trabalho como um dos palcos de disputa de memória, a imprensa ajudou a construir a imagem dos ditadores no período. Com base em Luiz Gonzaga Motta e John B. Thompson, será realizada uma análise crítica das narrativas, a fim de desvelar as estratégias de construção simbólica presentes nos textos e o seu caráter ideológico por representarem a sustentação do poder instituído pelo regime militar. Para isso, serão analisados também os três narradores envolvidos no processo de produção dos perfis: o veículo, o jornalista e o personagem perfilado, visto aqui de uma forma mais ampla, como o contexto político de cada momento da Ditadura Civil-Militar. Assim, pretende-se compreender também a tensão entre transgressão e conservação nas páginas de Realidade.

Mid-twentieth-century Africa had been fertile ground for an ambitious intellectual production. The domino effect of political independencies has brought a uncertainty atmosphere concerning the direction the continent would take, opening the way for the circularity of ideas that tensed the struggle for independence and future projections backed by African perspectives with the obstacles imposed by the colonization and neocolonialism. In this sense, the present dissertation analysis the role of the intellectuality of Kwame Nkrumah in this conjuncture, a representative choice given his notoriety in gaining independence in sub-Saharan Africa in Ghana (1957) and becoming its first Head of State. The author's philosophy will be analyzed through the concepts of African liberation, Pan-Africanism, neocolonialism and socialism, concepts which he was one of the main advocate and one of the most successful philosophers in reframing and fixing this contents. More than a mere epiphenomenon of his temporality, Nkrumah's utterances influenced the reality around him. From the analysis of his context, his texts and the author, this essay addresses the need to understand how the concepts appropriate by the Ghanaian author were related to his context. Thus, it is a constitutive part of this paper the effort to understand colonization and its consequences, the conceptualization of intellectuality and its epistemicide implications on the peripheral thinking and the construction of an interpretation that allows the author's concepts to be analyzed in his own words, using his own words and his main writings, Africa Must Unite and Neocolonialism, and others that allow the creation of a textual corpus. Finally, this work sums up to so many others stimulated by Brazilian Law 10,639/03 related by the production of content that discuss and value for the Afro-Brazilian and African history and culture. A África da metade do século XX fora terreno fértil para uma ambiciosa produção intelectual. O efeito dominó das independências políticas inaugurara ares de incerteza quanto aos rumos que o continente tomaria abrindo espaço para a circularidade de ideias que tensionavam a luta por independência e projeções de futuro lastreadas em perspectivas africanas com os entraves impostos pela colonização e o neocolonialismo. Nesse sentido, a presente dissertação analisa o papel da intelectualidade de Kwame Nrumah nessa conjuntura, escolha representativa dada a sua notoriedade ao conquistar, de maneira inédita na África subsaariana, a independência de Gana (1957) e se tornar seu primeiro Chefe de Estado. A análise da filosofia do autor se dará por meio dos conceitos libertação africana, pan-africanismo, neocolonialismo e socialismo, conceitos que ele foi um dos principais defensores e um dos filósofos mais exitosos em ressignificar e fixar seus conteúdos. Mais do que um mero epifenômeno da sua temporalidade, os enunciados de Nkrumah influenciavam sobremaneira a realidade a sua volta. A partir da análise de seu contexto, de seu texto e do autor, esse trabalho se direciona na necessidade de compreender de que maneira os conceitos apropriados pelo autor ganês se relacionavam com seu contexto. Assim sendo, é parte constitutiva desse trabalho o esforço para compreender a colonização e seus desdobramentos, a conceituação de intelectualidade e suas implicações epistemicídas no pensar periférico e a construção de uma interpretação que permita analisar os conceitos do autor por suas próprias palavras, usando para tal seus principais livros, África Deve Unir-se e Neocolonialismo, e outros que permitam a criação de um corpus textual. Por fim, esse trabalho se soma a tantos outros impulsionados pela Lei 10.639/03 no que tange a produção de conteúdos que tratem e valorizem a história e cultura afro-brasileira e africana.

The work “Latin America in theses: the latin americanist historiography in the theses of the doctoral courses in History in Rio Grande do Sul” adopts as its object the analysis of the seventy-two theses about Latin America developed in the Postgraduate Programs in History – Doctoral level – in Rio Grande do Sul, from 1986 to 2016. Chronologically goes back to the creation of the Doctorate Course in History at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1986) – the oldest of the three programs – and extends to the year 2016, passing the development of doctoral courses in the same area at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1995) and at the Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (1999). The spatial cut is justified by the geographical and border conditions of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the temporal, in the course of the Postgraduate Programs in Brazil, and the thematic, in the opportunity for reflection on the production of regional historical knowledge. To this end, the priority is to examine the structure of the theses on Latin America produced in the period, based on the five guiding points indicated by the works of Jörn Rüsen and his proposal for the matrix of historical thought. The question, “to what extent does a movement of epistemological transformation occur during the development of theses?” should be answered from the hypothesis of the existence of structuring hierarchies within the academic work, between Needs of Orientation, Conceptions, Methods, Forms and Functions of Orientation, to be confirmed through the matrix of historical thought in its relation to the set of theses. The methodology is based on the comparison, in the first instance, within each thesis, and then the comparison between theses, in the same variables, in order to perceive global ruptures and continuities, as well as the identification of their possible endogenous and exogenous causes. O trabalho “América Latina em teses: a historiografia latino-americanista nas teses dos cursos de doutorado em História no Rio Grande do Sul” adota como objeto a análise das setenta e duas teses sobre a América Latina desenvolvidas nos Programas de Pós-Graduação em História – nível de doutorado – no Rio Grande do Sul, entre os anos de 1986 e 2016. Retrocede, cronologicamente, à criação do curso de doutorado em História na Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1986) – o mais antigo dos três programas – e se estende até o ano de 2016, perpassando o desenvolvimento dos cursos de doutorado na mesma área na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (1995) e na Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (1999). O recorte espacial encontra justificativa na condição geográfica e fronteiriça do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, o temporal, no percurso dos Programas de Pós-Graduação no Brasil e, o temático, na oportunidade de reflexão sobre a produção do conhecimento histórico regional. Nesse intuito, estabelece-se como prioridade o exame de estrutura das teses sobre a América Latina produzidas no período, a partir dos cinco pontos norteadores indicados pelos trabalhos de Jörn Rüsen e sua proposta de matriz do pensamento histórico. A pergunta, “em que medida ocorre um movimento de transformação epistemológica durante o desenvolvimento das teses?” deverá ser respondida a partir da hipótese da existência de hierarquias estruturantes no interior do trabalho acadêmico, entre Carências de Orientação, Concepções, Métodos, Formas e Funções de Orientação, a serem confirmadas por meio da matriz do pensamento histórico na sua relação ao conjunto de teses. A metodologia tem como base a comparação, em primeira instância, no interior de cada tese, e, em seguida, o cotejo entre as teses, nas mesmas variáveis, a fim de perceber rupturas e continuidades globais, além da identificação de suas possíveis causas endógenas e exógenas.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES This investigation offers an Intellectual History approach and aims to explore the theoretical and methodological scopes of the area in order to verify some conceptions related to autonomy and heteronomy in the works of the Brazilian academics Manoel Bomfim, Oliveira Lima and Graça Aranha. The focus of the authors offer answers about civilization, identity and race, concepts presented to understand how the Brazilian Fin-de-siècle generation was thinking autonomy, heteronomy and nation in a context of changes, especially with the Proclamation of the Republic. The hypothesis of this thesis shows that the connection between autonomy and heteronomy was temporally built and applied to the national matters to compose those intellectuals’ interpretation of the world, specially concerning to the space of experience and horizon of expectation. Therefore, autonomy and heteronomy elucidate the disorientation of the Brazilian Fin-de-siècle generation from 1890 to 1920 before the perception of the backwardness, maladjustment and incompleteness of the nation. This thesis is divided in three chapters: the first presents introductory aspects and discusses the characteristic elements of the Brazilian intellectual context of the time, as well as a brief resumption of recent publications about those intellectuals. The second chapter focuses on the European, Iberian and American civilizational models to demonstrate how they have configured Brazilian national identity. The third chapter follows the identity discussions of the previous chapter, emphasizing the racial aspect in the process of definition of the Brazilian national being and how it was linked to the autonomy and heteronomy of the nation. Education also appears in this last chapter associated to the idea of utopia in the constitution of the future. Essa pesquisa oferece uma abordagem a partir da História Intelectual e procura explorar as dimensões teórico-metodológicas dessa área a fim de verificar algumas concepções que envolvem a autonomia e a heteronomia nas obras dos intelectuais brasileiros Manoel Bomfim, Oliveira Lima e Graça Aranha. Os enfoques trazidos por esses três intelectuais oferecem respostas sobre a civilização, identidade e raça, conceitos que foram elencados para entendermos como a autonomia, a heteronomia e a nação estavam sendo pensadas ou reorganizadas pela geração Fin-de-siècle brasileira frente ao quadro de mudanças advindas, especialmente com a República. A hipótese dessa tese demonstra que a relação entre a autonomia e a heteronomia se constituiu temporalmente e foi aplicada à questão nacional para compor a leitura de mundo desses intelectuais, especialmente no que diz respeito ao espaço de experiência e ao horizonte de expectativa. Nesse sentido, autonomia e heteronomia elucidam a desorientação da geração Fin-de-siècle brasileira de 1890 a 1920 frente à percepção de atraso, de desajuste e de incompletude da nação. A tese foi dividida em três capítulos: o primeiro apresenta um caráter introdutório e aborda elementos que caracterizam o contexto intelectual brasileiro desse período, assim como traz uma breve retomada de trabalhos recentes publicados sobre esses intelectuais. O segundo capítulo enfoca os modelos civilizacionais da Europa, da Ibéria e dos Estados Unidos com o intuito de demonstrar como a identidade nacional brasileira estava sendo configurada a partir de seus exteriores constitutivos. O terceiro capítulo segue as discussões identitárias do capítulo anterior e enfatiza a questão racial no processo de definição do ser nacional brasileiro e como essa questão estava vinculada a autonomia e a heteronomia da nação. A instrução também é uma temática que aparece nesse último capítulo vinculada à ideia de utopia na constituição do devir.

The present Culture Thesis, Education and History teaching. Racism Combat: Narratives about the 10.639/03 law part of my personal narrative that problematizes the social reality of African-American women and men, in the last 40 years and how this story told is crossed by other narratives, by culture, education and History teaching. The leading question I answered “to what extent the personal narrative of a black teacher, who has taught the History subject, in High School, since 2003, marked by the approval of the 10.635/3 law, contributed to the racism combat, consolidating a circle of an antiracist education? ” The main goal of this research was to comprehend how the (auto)biographical narratives of black men and women contribute to the enforcement of the 10.639/03 law and how these choices helped to point a direction toward racism combat, with History teaching. The specific goals has been identifying in my personal narrative how the education and the culture were determined in my critical formation; identifying in the Education History in Brazil how the process of creation of the 10.639/2 law occurred; presenting the theoretical reference that underpin my analysis to work with the 10.639/3 law; identifying the African theoretical references that guide my narrative; presenting a proposal that relates(auto)biographical narratives, education, culture and History teaching to racism combat. The main source of the research has been my personal narrative associated with the narratives of an educator and a black activist. This research is qualitative, and its methodology was marked by an (auto)biographical research, having as methodological procedure bibliographical and documental research. Based on this methodological procedure, I identify the causes of the historical silencing of black men and women that produce epistemic racism in our society, and I show in the end, how these narratives brought to class can, through its reflexive and dialogic act produce a pedagogy of racism combat in education. An (auto)biographical research was done in this paper. Having as methodological procedure bibliographical and documental research. The question of the research dialogs with an epistemological reinterpretation of the History teaching guided by an (auto)biographical research with the goal of racism combat and, in this way, the production of social contradictions and the need to recreate the ways of teaching and learning justify an approach that will use as background of the field of (auto)biographical research to recognize in it the appropriated and plural space in the elaboration of this thesis and the reinterpretation in the theoretical and epistemological field. First I narrate myself and from this process I remove the punctual elements that introduce the initial questions. Each chapter will be marked by a connection between the research and the African culture values that give meaning to the heritage of black men and women: the orality, the ancestry, the circularity and the vital strength, as the elements of an Africa that is placed in human action and in the educational space. According to the interviewed teachers, to an antiracist education occur it is necessary that the courses of initial and continued formation of the teachers include the theme in their agendas, articulated to didactic and pedagogical instruments and seeking the harmony in racial relations. Therefore, highlight the voices of the investigated teachers in determined space and time, to resignify their own history, reliving their trajectory, contributed to the comprehension of the formation of the teacher’s identity, producing new meanings to the teaching performance. A presente Tese Cultura, Educação e Ensino de História. Combate ao Racismo: Narrativas sobre a lei 10.639/03 parte da minha narrativa pessoal que problematiza a realidade social de negros e negras no Brasil, nos últimos 40 anos e como essa história narrada é atravessada por outras narrativas, pela cultura, educação e o ensino de história. A questão norteadora que respondi foi: “em que medida a narrativa pessoal de um professor negro, que atuou na Disciplina de História, no Ensino Médio, a partir do ano de 2003, marcada pela aprovação da Lei 10.639/03, contribuiu no combate ao racismo, consolidando um currículo de educação antirracista?” O objetivo geral da pesquisa foi compreender como as narrativas (auto)biográficas de professores negros e negras contribuem para a efetivação da Lei 10.639/03 e como estas escolhas ajudaram a apontar um caminho para o combate ao racismo, a partir do ensino de história. Os objetivos específicos foram identificar na minha narrativa pessoal como a educação e a cultura foram determinantes na minha formação crítica; identificar na História da Educação no Brasil como ocorreu o processo de criação da Lei 10.639/03; apresentar os referenciais teóricos que embasaram minha análise para trabalhar com a Lei 10639/03; identificar os referenciais africanos que orientam minha narrativa; apresentar uma proposta que relaciona as narrativas (auto) biográficas, educação, cultura e ensino de história para o combate ao racismo. A principal fonte de pesquisa foi minha narrativa pessoal tangenciada por depoimentos de uma educadora e de um militante negro. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo, cuja metodologia foi pautada pela pesquisa (auto)biográfica, tendo como procedimento metodológico pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. Com base nesse procedimento metodológico identifico as causas do silenciamento histórico de negros e negras que produzem o racismo epistêmico em nossa sociedade e aponto ao final, como essas narrativas trazidas para sala de aula podem através de seu ato reflexivo e dialógico produzir uma pedagogia de combate ao racismo na educação. Foi realizada uma pesquisa de tipo (auto)biográfica. Tendo como procedimento metodológico uma pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. A problemática da pesquisa dialoga com uma reinterpretação epistemológica do ensino de História pautada pela pesquisa (auto)biográfica com o objetivo de combater o racismo e, desta forma, a produção de contradições sociais e a necessidade de reelaborar a forma de ensinar e aprender justificam uma abordagem que usará como pano de fundo o campo da pesquisa (auto)biográfica por reconhecer nele o espaço adequado e plural na elaboração da tese e de reinterpretações no campo teórico e epistemológico. Inicialmente me narro e desse processo retiro os elementos pontuais que introduzem os questionamentos inicias. Cada capítulo será pautado pelo laço estabelecido entra a pesquisa acadêmica e os valores culturais africanos que dão sentido a herança de negros e negras: a oralidade, a ancestralidade, a circularidade e a força vital, como elementos de uma África que se faz presente na ação humana no espaço educacional. De acordo com os professores entrevistados, para que ocorra uma educação antirracista é necessário que os cursos de formação inicial e continuada de professores incluam a temática em seus currículos, articulada a instrumentos didático-pedagógicos e visando à harmonia nas relações raciais. Portanto, evidenciar as vozes dos professores investigados em um tempo e espaço determinados, ressignificando a sua própria história e revivendo sua trajetória percorrida, contribuiu para a compreensão da formação da identidade do professor, produzindo novos significados para a atuação docente.

The Angola's independence war was one of the most long liberations conflicts of the African continent, having as initial mark anticolonial attacks on Luanda, in 1961. These conflicts their extended, becoming a war which spread throughout most of the territory until one year after the fall of the Portuguese colonial and fascist regime, culminating in the emancipation of Angola in 1975. For the investigation of this historical period it is proposed a qualitative bibliographical analysis on four of the main works of the Angolan novelist, Artur Carlos Mauricio Pestana dos Santos, popularly known as Pepetela (1941), and they are: the historical novels Mayombe (1971) and A Geração da Utopia (1991), the fable of Muana Puó (1969), as well as the main object of this research, the mythological narrative of As Aventuras de Ngunga (1972). In addition, several official documentary sources of the Portuguese government and the African colony are taken into account for completeness and verification of the facts. This study made it possible to compare the discourses of the Angolan liberation movements with emphasis on the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and also on the Portuguese State and its nostalgic idea of the already infamous overseas empire. It is noted that the role played by the Angolan intelligentsia in the guerrilla organization in the face of its contradictions and in the configuration of the bases of the national state of Pan-African character, inspired by the utopian projections with the rise of the so-called Third World, is also outstanding. In relation to the ambition of the intellectuals to build the political and cultural foundations of the new nation, we highlight the dialectical exploration of the question of hybridism, or rather, miscegenation of Angolan society with its tradition of orality and its cyclic cosmovision with the elements brought by the Lusitanians of the Latin tradition of writing and linear time. Regarding the project and challenges of a new postcolonial society, the most controversial issues are addressed, such as feminism, formal education and the relationship between the elements of traditional and modern exotic, as well as the internal contradictions of struggle and policy As a conclusion, Pepetela makes an assessment of the period of the war and the rise to power of his political party, in the 1990s, with the disintegration of the Soviet republics and the fall of the Berlin Wall. According to the author, the collective utopia of a strong and just Angola ceases to exist to signify an individual ideology of their convictions regarding their political-ideological fidelity, since the contradictions that existed in the country as a colony were not overcome after their release. Nowadays, the mission of the intellectual subject is no longer to organize groups to take up arms, but to act in a classroom, in the role of teacher, in order to discuss the new challenges faced by Angolan society. Research Line in the Postgraduate Program in History: Frontier, politics and society. This dissertation did not receive any scholarship financial help or the like by the postgraduate program or other institutions of any kind. A guerra de libertação de Angola foi um dos mais longos conflitos de independência do continente africano, tendo como marco inicial os ataques anticoloniais a Luanda, em 1961. Estes conflitos se prolongaram, tornando-se uma guerra que se alastrou por quase todo território até um ano após a queda do regime fascista e colonial português, culminando na emancipação de Angola, no ano de 1975. Para a investigação desse período histórico é proposta uma análise bibliográfica de caráter qualitativo sobre quatro das principais obras do romancista, político e guerrilheiro angolano Artur Carlos Maurício Pestana dos Santos, vulgo Pepetela (1941), são elas: os romances históricos Mayombe (1971) e A Geração da Utopia (1991), a fábula de Muana Puó (1969), bem como o principal objeto desta pesquisa, a narrativa mitológica de As Aventuras de Ngunga (1972). Além disso, são levadas em consideração várias fontes documentais oficiais do governo português e da colônia africana para complementação e a verificação dos fatos. Esse estudo possibilitou a comparação dos discursos dos movimentos de libertação angolanos com ênfase no Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) e também do Estado português e sua ideia nostálgica ao já famigerado império ultramarino. Destaca-se também o papel que a intelectualidade angolana desempenhou na organização guerrilheira ante as suas contradições e também na configuração das bases para a criação de um estado-nacional de caráter pan-africano, inspirado nas projeções utópicas com a ascensão do chamado Terceiro Mundo. Em relação à ambição dos intelectuais quanto à construção dos alicerces político e cultural da nova nação, se destaca a exploração de forma dialética da questão do hibridismo, ou melhor, mestiçagem da sociedade angolana com a sua tradição de oralidade e sua cosmovisão cíclica com os elementos trazidos pelos lusitanos da tradição latina de escrita e tempo linear. No que tange ao projeto e aos desafios de uma nova sociedade pós-colonial são abordados os mais polêmicos assuntos, tais como o feminismo, a educação formal e a relação entre os elementos do tradicional e do moderno exótico, além das contradições internas da luta e política angolana. Como conclusão, Pepetela faz uma avaliação do período da guerra e da ascensão ao poder de seu partido, já nos anos 1990, com a desintegração das repúblicas soviéticas e a queda do Muro de Berlim. De acordo com o autor, a utopia coletiva de uma Angola forte e justa deixa de existir para significar uma ideologia individual de suas convicções a respeito da sua fidelidade político-ideológica, já que as contradições que havia no país enquanto colônia não foram superadas após a sua libertação. Atualmente, a missão do sujeito intelectual não é mais organizar grupos para pegar em armas, mas atuar em uma sala de aula, na função de professor, a fim de debater os novos desafios que encaram a sociedade angolana. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES The present research deals with the relation between history and fiction in the work of Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005). We found in his texts the Aristotelian terms of mímesis and mŷthos, here translated as imitation and plot composition, witch let us comprehend history as a creation that represents life, a composition whose content is a fictional representation of the absent. From this history conception, as a poetic narrative about the past, we searched what elements would be different and common between history and fiction. Our start was the Jean- Paul Sartre (1905-1980) book called A náusea (1938), that suggests the narration of life as impossible. By this point, we found in the Ricoeur thesis of entrecruzamento a proposition different of Sartre’s, because it considers history as a fictional narrative that has elements by which we can know about the past. From this partial conclusion, we treated the problem of living and telling, through the MacIntyre (1929) conception of unity narrative of life, in relation with the Ricoeur concept of identidade narrativa. From this relation, we suggest a alternative way between living as a story, as MacIntyre, and living without meaning, as Sartre, that is a dialectic that implies life and narrative as complementary. Nosso trabalho consiste em uma pesquisa a respeito da relação entre a história e a ficção a partir da obra de Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005). Considerando a história como um tipo de narrativa, encontramos em seus escritos os termos aristotélicos mímesis e mŷthos, traduzidos respectivamente como imitação e composição da intriga, os quais, aplicados para a elaboração historiográfica, nos permitiram compreender a história como uma criação que representa a vida, uma composição cujo teor é a representação ficcional do ausente. Partindo dessa concepção de história, como narrativa poética a respeito do passado, verificamos quais elementos seriam comuns e diferentes entre a história e a ficção. Nosso ponto de partida foi a obra A náusea (1938) de Jean-Paul Sartre (1905-1980), cujo teor sugere uma impossibilidade de narrarmos a vida. Através da tese do entrecruzamento de Ricoeur, encontramos uma proposta diferente da sartriana, considerando a história como uma narrativa ficcional que possui elementos que nos permitem algum conhecimento do passado. Dessa conclusão parcial, partimos para o contraste entre viver e narrar, através da concepção de unidade narrativa de vida, proposta por Alasdair MacIntyre (1929) confrontada com a de identidade narrativa de Ricoeur. A partir dessa relação, apontamos uma terceira via entre o viver narrativamente de MacIntyre e o viver sem sentido de Sartre, que seria a dialética que compreende vida e narrativa como complementares uma da outra.

The aim of the dissertation is to understand how Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959) elaborated a musical narrative of the nation through his compositions. Therefore, were selected some works that we consider representative and which are, respectively, part of the Chôros series from the 1920s and the Brazilian Bachian-pieces elaborated between the 1930s and 1940s, besides the material organized by the composer for the teaching of orpheonic singing. Our research problem lies in investigate the ways how the several intellectual, artistic and historiographical contexts from the first half of the 20th century acted on the composer‘s sound thinking. Therefore, some dialogues will be established with the field of musicological research with the intent of formulating a methodological orientation of a dialogical and propositional character that will allows us to evaluate Villa-Lobos‘ work beyond its textual content, although it is not ignored. In this regard, a notion of ―musical texture‖ comes into play. Starting from it, will be possible to demonstrate how the composer sought to represent the ―imagined‖ nation according to its ―soundscapes‖, revealing, at the same time, a one and diverse perspective about the Brazilian identity. The work of Villa-Lobos is equivalent to the sense given by Gilberto Freyre in the expression ―balanced antagonism‖: a permeable, miscegenated music, in which contrasting elements of Brazilian musical culture are superimposed in harmony. At last, include Villa-Lobos in the list of interpreters of Brazil is fundamental to evaluate the scope and the outspread of identity narratives from the intellectual scenario of the first half of 20th century. O objetivo da dissertação é compreender como Heitor Villa-Lobos (1887-1959) elaborou uma narrativa musical da nação através de suas composições. Para tanto, foram selecionadas algumas obras que consideramos representativas e que fazem parte, respectivamente, do ciclo de Choros da década de 1920, das Bachianas Brasileiras elaboradas entre as décadas de 1930 e 1940, além do material organizado pelo compositor para o ensino de canto orfeônico. Nosso problema de pesquisa reside em investigar as maneiras como atuaram os diversos contextos intelectuais, artísticos e historiográficos, da primeira metade do século XX, no pensamento sonoro desse compositor. Para tanto, serão estabelecidos alguns diálogos com o campo da pesquisa musicológica, com o intuito de formular uma orientação metodológica de caráter dialógico e propositivo que permitirá avaliar a obra de Villa-Lobos para além do seu conteúdo textual, embora esse não seja ignorado. Nesse sentido, entra em cena a noção de ―textura musical‖. A partir dela, será possível demonstrar como o compositor buscou representar a nação ―imaginada‖ segundo as suas ―paisagens sonoras‖, revelando uma perspectiva, ao mesmo tempo, una e diversa da identidade brasileira. A obra de Villa-Lobos se equivale ao sentido dado por Gilberto Freyre na expressão ―equilíbrio de antagonismos‖: uma música permeável, miscigenada, em que são sobrepostos, em harmonia, elementos contrastantes da cultura musical brasileira. Por fim, incluir Villa-Lobos no quadro de intérpretes do Brasil é fundamental para avaliar a abrangência e os desdobramentos das narrativas identitárias no cenário intelectual da primeira metade do século XX.

The reports chosen are from travelers Alexander Baguet, Arsène Isabelle, Auguste de Saint-Hilaire, Nicolau Dreys and Robert Avé-Lallemant. The objective of this work is to understand how these travelers perceived the environment of Pampa, an unknown territory to them. These reports may give us a complex understanding of the relationships established between humans and the natural world, especially with regard to the temporal space of research that is the Pampa in the first half of the nineteenth century. This region still lacks studies in the area and it is interesting because it is a biome divided by borders of States that were formed and consolidated in that period, trying to get more influence in this vast region. In this perspective, I use environmental history as a theoretical reference to perform the analysis of the sources. Este trabalho apresenta os resultados da minha pesquisa de mestrado que trata da análise de cinco relatos de viagem. Os relatos escolhidos são dos viajantes Alexander Baguet, Arsène Isabelle, Auguste de Saint-Hilaire, Nicolau Dreys e Robert Avé-Lallemant. O objetivo do trabalho é compreender como estes viajantes percebiam o ambiente do Pampa, um território desconhecido para eles. Estes relatos podem nos propiciar um entendimento mais complexo sobre as relações estabelecidas entre os seres humanos e o mundo natural, especialmente no que se refere ao recorte espaço temporal da pesquisa que é o Pampa na primeira metade do século XIX. Esta região carece ainda de estudos na área e se demonstra interessante por ser um bioma recortado por fronteiras de Estados Nacionais que naquele período se formavam e se consolidavam, disputando influência sobre esta vasta região. Nesta perspectiva, utilizo a história ambiental como referência teórica para realizar a análise das fontes.

Refers to the construction of the significant nation from a methodology proposed by the History of Ideas. In order, it was intended to expose Bauer's intentions about the formation of the complex hierarchical network of constitutive concepts of being-nation, whose intertwined identities of the concepts of Natural and Cultural Community culminate in what Bauer called "Community of Destination", represented by the will In the projection to a common end. Following the analysis, we also propose to analyze the temporal implications in the author's theory, in order to identify the use of temporality in its national perspective. Thus, we try to understand how Otto Bauer understood the national phenomenon from his textual corpus - both Bauer and related authors - as well as the temporal implications in his discourse. Assim, procuramos entender como Otto Bauer compreendia o fenômeno nacional a partir de seu corpus textual – tanto de Bauer quanto de autores relacionados a ele – bem como as implicações temporais em seu discurso.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior In 1940, Emílio Willems published Assimilação e Populações Marginais no Brasil. In this period, tentatives to legitimate a national scenario and senses of seeking a brasility outlined the direction of intellectuality of the country. In this sense, we aim, with the referred work, to understand how it configured the thinking of Willems to comprehend the immigrant German and descendents in the perspective of the processes of assimilation and marginalization. For this, we divided the Dissertation in three chapters. In the first, we tried to present two contexts that become understandable the work of the author. In the contexts of debate about the main culturalists theories developed in the late of the centuries 19th and in the beginning of the century 20th, as well as the brasilian political-cultural context that launched the question of national identity as a problem to be defined. In the second chapter, we choose to analyzed the internal principles of the work of Willems, especially in the perspective of intentionality of the author exploiting some aspects that conducted the work Assimilação e Populações Marginais no Brasil. In a way that we can call the attention to the main concepts that willems used to construct his theory of assimilation. The last chapter is an analysis, in which aims at the conditions of intelligibility of the work to which refers the thought of Willems in the comprehension of the Teuto-Brazilian . We point to the understanding of his theory to think the idea of the foreign (immigrant teuto-Brazilian) like the one that comes from a theory and experience known for the comfort as another sphere that is strange to it for many reasons (economical, political, social and, especially, cultural). The process of marginalization of the immigrant is thought in this border of identity in whichis linked the Teuto-Brazilian in space and time. The concept Teuto-Brazilian is explored in its relation of hyphenation configuring the place and non-place of the foreign in the society that is going to occupy. This dissertation was developed in the Research Line Politics, Boarder and Society , in the Program of Post Graduation in History from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, with the financial support of CAPES/DS. Em 1940, Emílio Willems publicou a obra Assimilação e Populações Marginais no Brasil. Nesse período, tentativas de legitimar um cenário nacional e sentidos de busca de uma brasilidade contornavam os rumos intelectuais do País. Nesse sentido, objetiva-se, com a referida obra, entender como se configurou o pensamento de Willems para compreender o imigrante alemão e descendentes na perspectiva dos processos de assimilação e marginalização. Para tanto, divide-se a Dissertação em três capítulos. No primeiro, trata-se de apresentar dois contextos que tornam inteligível a obra do autor: nos contextos de debate acerca das principais teorias culturalistas desenvolvidas em fins do século XIX e início do século XX; como, também, o contexto político-cultural brasileiro que lançou a questão da identidade nacional como um problema a ser definido. No segundo capítulo, optou-se por analisar os princípios internos da obra de Willems, especialmente sua perspectiva de intencionalidade autoral, explorando alguns aspectos que conduziram a obra Assimilação e Populações Marginais no Brasil, de modo que se possa chamar a atenção para os principais conceitos que Willems utilizou para construir sua teoria da assimilação. O último capítulo compõe-se de uma análise, a qual almeja as condições de inteligibilidade da obra a que se refere o pensamento de Willems na compreensão do teuto-brasileiro. Aponta-se para o entendimento da sua teoria para pensar a ideia do estrangeiro (imigrante - teuto-brasileiro) como aquele que parte de uma realidade e experiência conhecida para o confronto com outra esfera que lhe é estranha por diversos motivos (econômicos, políticos, sociais e, sobretudo, culturais). O processo de marginalização do imigrante é pensado nessa fronteira da identidade a qual se vincula o teuto-brasileiro no espaço e tempo. O conceito teuto-brasileiro é explorado em sua relação de hifenização configurando o lugar e não-lugar do estrangeiro na sociedade que vem a ocupar. Esta dissertação foi desenvolvida na Linha de Pesquisa Política, Fronteira e Sociedade no Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria com financiamento da CAPES/DS.

The main problem of this work is to understand the political sense of the rememoration of the past inside the Brazillian Armed Forces and in which ways the historiographical production of this institution collaborated to create a form of speech that justifies its own political and social finality in the New State period. Furthermore, how these narratives about the past of the institution collaborated to create some sort of identity to the soldiers in this period. The present work analyze the historiography produced by a group of individuals, from the civil society or military that had connections with the Brazillian Armed Forces. This work used three sources of historiographical production: Biblioteca Militar (Military Library), A Defesa Nacional ( The National Defense magazine), Revista Nação Armada (Armed Nation Magazine), all of them having bonds to the army or/and having military writers with close relations with the Getúlio Vargas government. There was two themes highlighted in the military production: the biographical narratives and the anti-communism. This work discusses on how these biographical narratives transformed the heroes life into moral examples. The glorification of the hero as a form of identification of the Army in the New State period, but also the opposite: the traitor. This concept was associated to the communists, after the uprisings from the Aliança Nacional Libertadora (National Alliance of Liberation) in 1935. In the second part of this work, there is a discussion about the place that the Brazillian Armed Forces occupies in the nationality formation in the past, present and future of the nation, using the narratives from the Military Library and Military magazines. This work belongs to the Post-Graduation Program in History at the Santa Maria Federal University, in the Culture, Power and History research field, in the Society, Politics and Frontier line. It got a CAPES scholarship. O presente trabalho tem como principal problemática compreender o sentido político da rememoração do passado no interior do Exército e de que forma a produção histórica da própria instituição contribuiu para a criação de um discurso que justificava a sua finalidade social ou política no Estado Novo. Ademais, Como tais narrativas sobre o passado da instituição colaboraram para a criação de uma identidade para os soldados nesse período. Este trabalho busca analisar a historiografia produzida por um grupo de indivíduos, civis ou militares, que estaria vinculado ao Exército por intermédio de alguma instituição, imprensa ou órgão direta ou indiretamente ligado as Forças Armadas. No caso desta pesquisa, três lugares de produção historiográfica foram selecionados: a Biblioteca Militar, a Revista A Defesa Nacional e a Revista Nação Armada , todas vinculadas ao Exército ou/e possuindo escritores militares, com relações estreitas com o governo de Getúlio Vargas. Dois temas destacaram-se na produção militar: as narrativas biográficas e o anticomunismo. Neste texto discorre-se sobre como essas narrativas biográficas transformavam as trajetórias dos heróis em exemplos morais. A exaltação do heróico como forma de identificação pelo Exército no Estado Novo, também possuía o seu oposto: o traidor. Conceito associado aos comunistas, depois dos levantes da Aliança Nacional Libertadora em 1935. Em um segundo momento, discorre-se sobre o lugar ocupado pelas Forças Armadas na formação da nacionalidade , no passado, no presente e no futuro da nação, a partir das narrativas históricas da Biblioteca Militar e nas Revistas Militares. O trabalho pertence ao Programa de Pós-graduação em História, da UFSM, que possui a área de concentração História, Poder e Cultura, fazendo parte da linha de pesquisa Fronteira, Política e Sociedade, obteve bolsa por intermédio do órgão financiador CAPES.

Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul In 1948, Manoelito of Ornellas published his work Gauchos and Bedouins: ethnicity and the social formation of Rio Grande do Sul, inserting himself in the debates on the (re)formulation of regional identity carried out in the mid-twentieth century in the state. At that time, disputes involving the legitimate past and what is and how to be gaucho took new turns, different from those born with the creation of IHGRS and the "official line". Both history as discipline and the social actors involved changed. In this research, we try to demonstrate the transformation that occurred and how the work and the author fit into the heart of this process. For this, the dissertation is divided into three chapters In the first, will be addressed the relations of the author and his work with their contexts, especially the historiographical culture of Rio Grande do Sul and the debates around the regionalist literature, tradition in which he was inserted as an intellectual. The second chapter takes place a mixture of biography and intellectual biography, paying attention to the trajectory of Manoelito in seek of grants to interrelate their written production. In the third and last is performed an internal review of Gauchos and Bedouins, trying to understand their epistemological assumptions, notions and central representations builded, his dialogue with the historiographical culture of the period and the insertion in the debate on the identity (re)construction during the publication period. The research is linked to the Research Field Integration, Politic and Frontier of the PPGH-UFSM and was funded by a CAPES/FAPERGS scholarship. Em 1948, Manoelito de Ornellas publicou sua obra Gaúchos e Beduínos: a origem étnica e a formação social do Rio Grande do Sul, inserindo-se nos debates sobre a (re)formulação da identidade regional levadas a cabo em meados do século XX no estado. Naquele momento, as disputas envolvendo o passado legítimo e os sentidos do ser gaúcho tomaram novos rumos, distintos daqueles nascidos com a criação do IHGRS e o "discurso oficial". Tanto a história disciplinar quanto os atores sociais envolvidos mudaram. Busca-se demonstrar as transformações ocorridas e como obra e autor inserem-se no âmago desse processo. Para isso, a dissertação divide-se em três capítulos. No primeiro, serão abordadas as relações do autor e sua obra com seus contextos, principalmente a cultura historiográfica sulrio- grandense e os debates em torno da literatura regionalista, tradição de pensamento na qual se inseriu como intelectual. No segundo capítulo, realiza-se uma mescla de biografia e biografia intelectual, atentando para a trajetória de Manoelito e buscando subsídios para inter-relacionar sua produção escrita. No terceiro e último, é realizada uma análise interna de Gaúchos e Beduínos, procurando compreender seus pressupostos epistemológicos, as noções e representações centrais construídas, o diálogo com a cultura historiográfica do período e a inserção nos debates sobre a (re)construção identitária local durante o período de publicação. A pesquisa vincula-se à Linha de Pesquisa Integração, Política e Fronteira do PPGH-UFSM e foi realizada com auxílio de bolsa CAPES/FAPERGS.

Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul This work is linked to the Graduate Program in History at the Federal University of Santa Maria and inserted into the Research Line Integration, Politics and Frontier. We present and analyze the representations of Getúlio Vargas in the pages of the magazine Revista do Globo between the years 1929 until 1937, and to present the magazine as the largest vehicle of Rio Grande do Sul state information within your style. We also tried to present an analysis of the image of Getulio Vargas unrelated to the primacy given to the Departamento de Imprensa e Propaganda and present the use of his image in a period prior to that traditionally elects historiography. Therefore, we elected methodologically the image as a source for the historian, recognizing it as a bearer of memory, as well as to represent the past. Este trabalho está vinculado ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria e inserida dentro da Linha de Pesquisa Integração, Política e Fronteira. Buscamos apresentar e analisar as representações de Getúlio Vargas nas páginas do periódico Revista do Globo entre os anos de 1929 até 1937, bem como apresentar a revista como o maior veículo de informação do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul dentro de seu estilo. Buscamos também apresentar uma análise da imagem de Getúlio Vargas desvinculada à primazia dada ao Departamento de Imprensa e Propaganda e apresentar a utilização de sua imagem em um período anterior ao que tradicionalmente a historiografia elege. Para tanto, elegemos em termos metodológicos a imagem como fonte para o historiador, reconhecendo-a como portadora de memória, bem como de representar o passado.

Based on that, it aims to analyze and to compare the content and form of the rhetoric of the partisan political discourse of the newspapers A Federação and Correio do Sul in the electoral process of Rio Grande do Sul in 1922. The analysis and the interpretation of partisan political discourse of the newspapers was carried out through the theoretical and methodological contributions of Pocock (2003), in the study of political discourse performance and the relationship between context and action; the operation modes of meaning and action of ideological symbolic strategies written by John Thompson (2009) and, particularly, the theory of argumentation of Perelman and Tyteca, with regard to the linking modes of argumentation. From the reading and interpretation of the rhetorical and ideological strategies applied in partisan political discourse of newspapers, it became possible to assume the way journalists perceived the events and how they interacted with the audience and readers. In the political context of 1922, the content and form of political discourse were defined according to the discursive situations that arose from events and confrontation with the political opponent. On one side was A Federação, representing the Partido Republicano Rio-Grandense; and on the other side, the Correio do Sul, representing the Partido Federalista and Aliança Libertadora. Once they were in opposing political boundaries, they developed a combative and competitive discourse in order to face the opponent and convince readers to join their political cause. Este trabalho está vinculado à perspectiva historiográfica da história intelectual e objetiva analisar e comparar o conteúdo e a forma da retórica do discurso político-partidário dos jornais A Federação e o Correio do Sul no processo eleitoral do Rio Grande do Sul em 1922. A Análise e a interpretação do discurso político-partidário dos jornais parte dos aportes teórico-metodológicos de Pocock (2003), no estudo da performance do discurso político e da relação entre contexto e ação; dos modos de operação do sentido e da ação das estratégias simbólica de caráter ideológico de John Thompson (2009) e, principalmente, da teoria da argumentação de Perelman e Tyteca, no que diz respeito aos modos de ligação da argumentação. A partir da leitura e da interpretação das estratégias retóricas e ideológicas empregadas no discurso político-partidário dos jornais, torna-se possível traduzir a maneira como os jornalistas perceberam os acontecimentos e como interagiram com os interlocutores e leitores. No contexto político de 1922, o conteúdo e a forma do discurso político foram definidos em função das situações discursivas que surgiram dos acontecimentos e do confronto com o adversário político. De um lado, estava A Federação, que representava o Partido Republicano Rio-Grandense; de outro, o Correio do Sul, que representava o Partido Federalista e Aliança Libertadora. Por estarem em fronteiras políticas adversárias, desenvolveram um discurso combativo e competitivo para enfrentarem o adversário e convencerem os leitores a aderirem à sua causa política.

That aimed to understand the role of Veja magazine, in the period of civil - military dictatorship in Brazil (1968/1974) in constructing representations of the national enemy. Through editorials which seek to realize the image of Brazil built this historical moment and how it relates to those considered non-being of Brazil, especially the communists at this historic moment. We also analyze the metamorphosis of the discourse of Veja Magazine since 1970. First seek to understand the context in which our subject is inserted following chapters presents the analysis of the sources. Que teve como objetivo compreender a atuação da Revista Veja, no período da ditadura civil-militar no Brasil (1968/1974) na construção das representações do inimigo nacional. Através dos editoriais procuramos perceber qual a imagem de Brasil construída nesse momento histórico e como ela se relaciona com aqueles considerados o não-ser do Brasil, especialmente os comunistas. Analisamos também a metamorfose do discurso da Revista Veja a partir de 1970. Primeiramente procuramos entender o contexto em que nosso tema está inserido, na sequência apresentam-se os capítulos com a análise das fontes. As fontes utilizadas na dissertação encontram-se online, disponíveis no site da revista Veja. É possível acessar todos os exemplares, desde o primeiro em 1968 até o momento atual. Utilizaremos como fonte de pesquisa os editorias e as reportagens referentes ao Brasil.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior This study addresses the memory and identity of Gauchos in the western border of Brazil by analyzing the narrative structure of the documentary series A Conquista do Oeste, produced by RBS TV in 2004. A Conquista do Oeste reconstructs the path of Gauchos who chased their dreams throughout the Brazilian territory. The episodes present the histories, challenges and success of these migrants, who founded cities along the Brazilian border but still managed to develop the customs and traditions they brought from the Rio Grande do Sul state. Thus, the aim of this dissertation is to analyze how the series of documentaries A Conquista do Oeste contributed for the consolidation of a memory project that strengthens the myth around gaucho's image in the western border of Brazil. The methodology used consisted of film analysis, and aesthetics of repetition and fragments, supported by an analysis corpus composed by all 13 episodes of the documentary. The analysis was divided in two moments: first, the analysis of the narrative structure of the series, when was verified how aesthetics of repetition and fragments are constructed as a whole. After that, the idea is to map which elements repeat until they create together the identity of the series. The focus here is to understand implications of using fragments of interviews in order to consolidate the myth around the image of the Gaucho and how they contribute for the construction of three idea-images concerning the migrating Gaucho: the Conqueror, the Explorer and the Hero. As a result, we consider that testimonies from social characters in television narrative fill a memory registry that utilizes the memories as raw-matter for constituting the identity of subjects from a specific social group. The construction of the triarchy Conqueror, Explorer and Hero occurs due to the tone the TV station intended to reaffirm in the series: to portrait the Gaucho migrant s condition of otherness through the opposition for the local culture of the region adopted as a new home. Este estudo é referente à memória e à identidade gaúcha na fronteira oeste brasileira a partir da narrativa da série de documentários A Conquista do Oeste produzida pela RBS TV em 2004. Segundo a proposta da emissora, A Conquista do Oeste remonta a saga dos gaúchos que perseguiram seus sonhos através de parte do território brasileiro. Os episódios apresentam as histórias, os desafios e o sucesso desses migrantes que fundaram cidades ao logo da fronteira do Brasil sem deixar de cultivar costumes e tradições rio-grandenses. Portanto, a proposta desta dissertação é analisar como a série de documentários A Conquista do Oeste contribui para a consolidação de um projeto de memória que reforça a mitificação da figura do gaúcho na fronteira oeste do país. Os procedimentos metodológicos consistem na análise fílmica e na estética da repetição e do fragmento, contando com um corpus de análise que contempla os 13 episódios da série documental. A análise está dividida em dois momentos: em primeiro lugar, busca-se analisar a estrutura narrativa da série, verificando-se como são aplicadas as estéticas da repetição e do fragmento na construção da narrativa como um todo. Após isso, a ideia é mapear quais são os elementos que vão se repetir a ponto de juntos criarem uma identidade para a série. Aqui, o que interessa é compreender as implicações do uso das entrevistas de forma fragmentária para a consolidação mítica da figura do gaúcho e que contribuem para construção de três ideias-imagem a respeito do gaúcho migrante: o Conquistador, o Desbravador e o Herói. Como resultados obtidos, estão as considerações de que na narrativa televisiva os depoimentos dos personagens sociais que são utilizados servem a uma vontade de memória que procura se aproveitar das lembranças enquanto matéria-prima de constituição identitária destes sujeitos compreendidos dentro de um determinado grupo social. A construção da tríade Conquistador, Desbravador e Herói ocorre devido ao tom que a emissora desejava afirmar dentro da série: retratar o migrante gaúcho realçando sua condição de alteridade em oposição à cultura local da região escolhida para ser seu novo lar.
