Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is preventable and treatable, characterized by airflow limitation and its main symptoms are dyspnea and cough.This study if chronic disease controls functional capacity and associated pulmonary obstructive factors. It is a cross-sectional study with cross-sectional analysis, carried out, at a university hospital in the interior of the state, with patients observed from the data with COPD, very observed in all its degrees (mild), II (severe) and IV (severe). Assessment capacity was performed using the Six-Minute God Test (6MWD), the risk for sarcopen SARCF Questionnaire + CC, and the clinical impact of COPD by pellagra was quantified by the COPD Assessment Test (CAT). In addition, data on primary factors of these patients were identified. Of the 37 patients (59.5% female; 81.1% elderly), 30 have reduced functional capacity, of these, 53.3% are at risk for sarcopenia and 93.3% have some clinical impact of COPD, being 53.3% a light to moderate impact and 40% a severe and very severe impact. It is concluded that the vast majority of patients have diagnostic repercussions of COPD on their health that go beyond pulmonary changes, leading to functional capacity and, consequently, quality of life. A doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica (DPOC) é prevenível e tratável, caracteriza-se pela limitação do fluxo aéreo e tem como principais sintomas a dispneia e a tosse. Este estudo se propôs a verificar a capacidade funcional, impacto da doença e risco para sarcopenia em indivíduos com doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica. É um estudo observacional e transversal com análise quantitativa dos dados, realizado em um hospital universitário do interior do estado, com pacientes previamente diagnosticados com DPOC, em todos os seus graus: I (leve), II (moderado), II (grave) e IV (muito grave). Foi realizada a avaliação da capacidade funcional por meio do Teste do Degrau de Seis Minutos (TD6), identificado o risco para sarcopenia pelo Questionário SARCF + CC e quantificado o impacto clínico da DPOC pelo questionário COPD Assessment Test (CAT). Além disso, foram coletados dados primários desses pacientes para a identificação de fatores associados. Dos 37 pacientes avaliados (59,5% do sexo feminino; 81,1% idosos), 30 (81,1%) apresentam redução da capacidade funcional; destes, 53,3% apresentam risco para a sarcopenia e 93,3% apresentam algum impacto clínico da DPOC, sendo 53,3% um impacto leve a moderado e 40% impacto grave e muito grave. Concluiu-se que a grande maioria dos pacientes avaliados com diagnóstico de DPOC possui repercussões na sua saúde que vão além das alterações pulmonares, incluindo redução da capacidade funcional, impactos da doença e risco para sarcopenia.

Introduction: The viral disease COVID-19 has become a worldwide concern due to its rapid proliferation and severe manifestation in some cases. Thus, concerns arose about the proliferation of the virus and aggravations of the disease, especially in the elderly population. With the aim of mitigating the spread of the virus, measures were implemented to restrict the movement of people and physical contact, such as isolation of the infected, quarantine for those exposed and social distancing for the population. These restrictions have brought several damages to people's health, causing possible impacts on mental health, which may lead to occupational deprivation and changes in the performance of occupations, on the other hand, new occupational engagements may be discovered. Objective: To describe the impacts of social distancing on mental health and to verify situations of occupational deprivation and occupational engagement in the elderly during the pandemic. Methodology: Cross-sectional study, with elderly people aged 60 years and over, both sexes and genders, residents of Santa Maria and participants in social groups linked to the Integrated Center for Studies and Support for the Elderly - NIEATI/UFSM. Data collection was carried out through an interview by telephone with the application of an elaborate questionnaire and the Patient Health Questionnaire - 4 (PHQ-4) instrument, to screen for depressive and anxiety symptoms. Results: The sample had 55 participants, there was a predominance of female individuals, white, aged between 70 and 79 years, with 9 years of schooling or more, married, with a monthly family income greater than one minimum wage, residing only with the spouse and of the Catholic religion. 97.27% of the sample reported suffering occupational deprivation during social distancing, 32.7% reported that they suffered impacts on occupational performance and 32.7% were able to engage in new occupations. As for screening for symptoms of depression and anxiety, using the PHQ-4 instrument, 10.9% of the sample showed indicators of depressive symptoms and 16.4% for anxiety symptoms. The depression variable was associated with the variables social distancing (p=0.0031) and occupational performance (p=0.012). Anxiety, on the other hand, showed a significant association for the occupational performance variable (p=0.046). Conclusion: In this study, the occurrence of situations of occupational deprivation that bring several damages to people's health was observed. It was also observed that a small portion of the participants managed to engage in new occupations during the period. Discovering new occupational engagements can bring health benefits and minimize psychological illness. Introdução: A doença viral COVID – 19 virou uma preocupação mundial devido a sua rápida proliferação e manifestação grave em alguns casos. Assim, surgiram preocupações acerca da proliferação do vírus e agravos da doença, principalmente na população idosa. Com o objetivo de mitigar a propagação do vírus foram implantadas medidas para a restrição de circulação de pessoas e contato físico, como o isolamento dos infectados, quarentena para os expostos e o distanciamento social para a população. Estas restrições trouxeram diversos prejuízos à saúde das pessoas, acarretando possíveis impactos na saúde mental, podendo ocorrer privação ocupacional e alterações no desempenho das ocupações, por outro lado, serem descobertos novos engajamentos ocupacionais. Objetivo: Descrever os impactos do distanciamento social na saúde mental e verificar as situações de privação ocupacional e de engajamento ocupacional nos pessoas idosas, durante a pandemia. Metodologia: Estudo transversal, com pessoas idosas a partir de 60 anos, ambos sexos, residentes de Santa Maria e participantes de grupos de convivência vinculados ao Núcleo Integrado de Estudos e Apoio à Terceira Idade - NIEATI/UFSM. A coleta foi realizada através de entrevista por meio de ligação telefônica com a aplicação de um questionário elaborado e o instrumento Patient Health Questionnaire – 4 (PHQ-4), para rastreio de sintomas depressivos e de ansiedade. Resultados: A amostra contou com 55 participantes houve predomínio de indivíduos do sexo feminino, da cor branca, na faixa etária de 70 a 79 anos, com escolaridade de 9 anos ou mais, casadas, com renda familiar mensal maior que um salário-mínimo, residindo somente com o cônjuge e da religião católica. 97,27% da amostra referiu sofrer privação ocupacional durante o distanciamento social, 32,7% relataram que sofreram impactos no desempenho ocupacional e 32,7% conseguiram se engajar em novas ocupações. Quanto ao rastreio para sintomas de depressão e ansiedade, através do instrumento PHQ-4, 10,9% da amostra apresentou indicadores de sintomas depressivos e 16,4% para sintomas de ansiedade. A variável depressão mostrou-se associada às variáveis distanciamento social (p=0,0031), e desempenho ocupacional (p=0,012). Já a ansiedade mostrou associação significativa para a variável desempenho ocupacional (p=0,046). Conclusão: Neste estudo foi observada a ocorrência de situações de privação ocupacional que trazem diversos prejuízos a saúde das pessoas. Também se observou que uma pequena parcela dos participantes conseguiu se engajar em novas ocupações durante o período. Descobrir novos engajamentos ocupacionais pode trazer benefícios à saúde e minimizar adoecimento psíquico.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES The Social Determinants of Health are considered permanent indicators of life, being social, economic, cultural, ethnic-racial, psychological and behavioral factors that influence people's health. At the beginning of 2020, the Coronavirus Pandemic emerged, an infectious disease, which put the world population at risk. On the occasion, the World Health Organization declared the viral infection by COVID-19 a Public Health Emergency, asking countries to carry out projects to control the spread of the virus, provoking government officials to adopt social distancing measures. As the elderly are the first population related to the health care of the new disease, it was verified through the social determinants of health, the psychological and occupational impacts of distancing in the lives of elderly people during the Covid-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional and analytical study was developed, addressing social distancing and the social determinants of health as exposure to psychological and occupational implications. The field research was carried out with elderly people in the Municipality of Agudo, from October 2021 to January 2022. The most identified factor in the research was the prevalence (87.5%) of non-communicable chronic diseases in the population. Another finding was that the majority of the population routinely participated in weekly groups, and these directly influenced their socialization, contributing to an improvement in their health conditions and, consequently, their quality of life. There was a constancy of responses that referred to social distancing as a factor that interfered in the psychic conditions of the elderly people interviewed. It was observed that there was a limitation of the process of occupational participation, identifying the concept of occupational deprivation with regard to the restriction of significant occupations in everyday life. Os Determinantes Sociais de Saúde são considerados indicadores permanentes da vida, sendo fatores sociais, econômicos, culturais, étnicos-raciais, psicológicos e comportamentais que geram influências na saúde das pessoas. No início do ano de 2020 surgiu a Pandemia do Coronavírus, uma doença infectocontagiosa, que colocou a população mundial em risco. Na ocasião a Organização Mundial da Saúde declarou a infecção viral por COVID-19 uma Emergência de Saúde Pública, solicitando aos países, projetos de controle de disseminação do vírus, provocando aos governantes a adoção de medidas de distanciamento social. Sendo as pessoas idosas a primeira população relacionada para os cuidados sanitários da nova doença, verificou-se através dos determinantes sociais de saúde, os impactos psíquicos e ocupacionais do distanciamento na vida de pessoas idosas durante a pandemia do Covid-19. Foi desenvolvido um estudo transversal e analítico, abordando o distanciamento social e os determinantes sociais de saúde como exposição para as implicações psíquicas e ocupacionais. A pesquisa de campo foi realizada com pessoas idosas do Município de Agudo, no período de outubro de 2021 a janeiro de 2022. O fator mais identificado na pesquisa, foi a prevalência (87,5%) de doenças crônicas não-transmissíveis na população. Outro achado foi de que a maioria da população tinha como rotina a participação em grupos semanais, e estes influenciavam diretamente na sua socialização, contribuindo para a melhora nas condições de saúde e consequentemente na qualidade de vida. Verificou-se a constância de respostas que referenciavam o distanciamento social como um fator que interferiu nas condições psíquicas das pessoas idosas entrevistados. Observou-se que ocorreu limitação do processo de participação ocupacional, identificando-se o conceito de privação ocupacional no que tange a restrição das ocupacionais significativas do cotidiano.

Medical prescription is a fundamental tool for the success of drug therapy and, therefore, its understanding is directly related to therapeutic adherence and the correct use of drugs. In this context, pictograms are a communication tool capable of reducing the understanding deficit and facilitating the interpretation of the medical prescription. The objective of the study was to develop and test the legibility of pictograms related to the health area, in order to contribute to the understanding and adherence to therapeutic regimens of SUS users. This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, developed in a Health Unit, located in the municipality of Formigueiro - RS. Two focus groups were held to create the pictograms, one formed by health professionals and the other by SUS users. After elaboration, the pictograms were submitted to a readability test. For data collection, a questionnaire containing questions related to sociodemographic variables was used, and the pictograms were drawn up, with verification of the understanding of the figures presented. Of the five pictograms submitted to the readability test, four were legible and one was not, due to its complexity. Among the participants in the readability survey, there was a prevalence of females (65%), of mature age (33.8%), with high school education (40.5%). Most of those surveyed (50%) have an income of one to three minimum wages, are professionals (24.1%) from group 2 (day laborer, domestic worker, caregiver for the elderly, etc.) and use (56%) one to three medications a day. Understanding the pictograms was associated with schooling, occupation and number of daily medications. The implementation of pictograms in pharmacological treatment, associated with verbal guidelines, can promote better understanding and adherence to treatment, contributing to the rational use of medications. A prescrição médica é uma ferramenta fundamental para o sucesso da terapia medicamentosa e, dessa forma, sua compreensão está diretamente relacionada à adesão terapêutica e ao correto uso dos medicamentos. Nesse contexto, tem-se os pictogramas como instrumento de comunicação capaz de diminuir o déficit de entendimento, e facilitar a interpretação da prescrição médica. O objetivo do estudo foi elaborar e testar a legibilidade de pictogramas relacionados à área da saúde, de modo a contribuir na compreensão e adesão aos esquemas terapêuticos de usuários do SUS. Trata-se de um estudo do tipo descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, desenvolvido em uma Unidade de Saúde, localizada no município de Formigueiro – RS. Foram realizados dois grupos focais para elaboração dos pictogramas, um formado por profissionais da área da saúde e outro por usuários do SUS. Após a elaboração, os pictogramas foram submetidos a um teste de legibilidade. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizado um questionário contendo perguntas relacionadas a variáveis sociodemográfico, e os pictogramas elaborados, sendo verificado a compreensão das figuras apresentadas. Dos cinco pictogramas submetidos ao teste de legibilidade, quatro foram legíveis e um não, devido à sua complexidade. Entre os participantes da pesquisa de legibilidade houve prevalência do sexo feminino (65%), idade madura (33,8%), com escolaridade ensino médio (40,5%). A maioria dos pesquisados (50%) possuem renda de um a três salários-mínimos, São profissionais (24,1%) do grupo 2 (diarista, empregado doméstico, cuidador de idosos, etc.) e fazem uso (56%) de um a três medicamentos por dia. A compreensão dos pictogramas esteve associada com escolaridade, ocupação e número de medicações de uso diário. A implantação de pictogramas no tratamento farmacológico, associadas a orientações verbais pode promover melhor entendimento e adesão ao tratamento, contribuindo para o uso racional de medicamentos.

Population aging causes an increase in demands for health services, with emphasis on hospitalizations, in many cases in public health systems, causing an overload of care and a greater risk of adverse health outcomes such as death. Objectives: To clarify the hospitalization profile based on the ISAR instrument and to identify its predictive power for death in adults and the elderly. Methodology: This is a prospective cohort, which evaluated 1421 individuals aged between 18 and 97 years, who entered the University Hospital of Santa Maria-Rs (HUSM-EBSERH). Data collection took place between July and December 2019. This study is part of the project “Predictive Validity of an Instrument for Identification of Complex Patients in Hospitalization (IPC)”. Descriptive variables were age and gender, study variables were ISAR (Identifications of Seniors At Risk), ICC (Charlson Comorbidity Index) and CAM (Confusion Assessment Method) scores, and outcomes were length of stay and death. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS-21.0). The associations by the chi-square or Fisher's exact test, the prediction of death by multivariate logistic regression (backward method) and the predictive accuracy by the ROC curve (Receiver Operating Characteristics). Statistical significance was considered when p≤ 0.005. Results: It identified that the low-risk profile was of adults, male, married and who entered due to diseases of the circulatory system. Those at high risk were elderly, married, who entered due to diseases of the circulatory system. The predictive accuracy of the ISAR between 18 and 50 years of age was identified (Area under the curve (AUC): 0.719 - Confidence index (CI): 0.633-0.817). Conclusion: It is suggested that the ISAR, despite its initial formulation for the elderly, can be considered a screening instrument in adults. Possibly due to changes in the profile of morbidities, which bring physiological aging to prominence over chronological aging. In this context, there is a need to reformulate the strategies used in patients with multimorbidities, aiming at reducing the functional impact. O envelhecimento populacional ocasiona o aumento das demandas por serviços de saúde, com destaque para internações hospitalares, em muitos casos nos sistemas públicos de saúde ocasionando a sobrecarga de cuidados e maior risco de resultados adversos de saúde como óbito. Objetivos: Esclarecer o perfil de internação com base no instrumento ISAR e identificar seu poder preditivo para o óbito em adultos e idosos. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma coorte prospectiva, que avaliou 1421 indivíduos com idade entre 18 e 97 anos, que ingressaram no Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria– Rs(HUSM- EBSERH). A coleta de dados ocorreu entre julho e dezembro de 2019. Este estudo faz parte do projeto “Validade Preditiva de Instrumento de Identificação de Paciente Complexo em Internação Hospitalar (IPC)”. As variáveis descritivas foram idade e sexo, as de estudo os escores do ISAR (Identifications of Seniors At Risck), ICC (Índice de Comorbidade de Charlson) e CAM (Confusion Assessment Method) e os desfechos o tempo de internação e óbito. Os dados foram analisados pelo Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS- 21.0). As associações pelo teste do qui-quadrado ou exato de fisher, a predição ao óbito pela regressão logística multivariada (método backward) e a acurácia preditiva pela curva ROC(Receiver Operating Characteristics). A significância estatística foi considerada quando p≤ 0,005. Resultados: Identificou que o perfil de baixo risco foi de adultos, do sexo masculino, casados e que ingressaram por doenças do aparelho circulatório. Já os de alto risco eram idosas, casadas, que ingressaram por doenças do aparelho circulatório. Identificou-se a acurácia preditiva do ISAR entre 18 e 50 anos de idade (Área sobre a curva (AUC): 0, 719- Índice de confiança (IC):0,633-0,817). Conclusão: Sugere-se que o ISAR, apesar de sua formulação inicial para idosos, pode ser considerado um instrumento de rastreio em adultos. Possivelmente devido as modificações no perfil de morbidades, que trazem o envelhecimento fisiológico sobressaindo ao cronológico. Neste contexto, surge a necessidade de reformular as estratégias utilizadas em pacientes com multimorbidades, visando a diminuição do impacto funcional.

Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq In order to bring to light an intergenerational discussion, since perceptions about sexuality, as well as the constant changes of the contemporary world and the aesthetic demands that plague women's bodies, have undergone several changes over the years, this work is a study that aims to compare the sexual function and body self-image of women of reproductive age with elderly women, residents of a city of Rio Grande do Sul. Observational research, with a quantitative approach and transversal character, with women aged 18 to 44 years. The data collection was carried out through a virtual interview and the compared data of elderly women were derived from the research “Factors that interfere with the genital self-image of elderly women”. Both studies derive from the project entitled “Relationship between pelvic floor pain, sexual function and genital self-image of elderly women with and without fibromyalgia”, approved by the Research Ethics Committee of UFSM under the CAAE number: 80587517.0.0000.5346. All studies are linked to the Post-Graduate Program in Gerontology, at the Federal University of Santa Maria. The instruments used for this research are: Adapted Evaluation Form, Female Sexual Function Index, Female Genital Self-Image Scale e Body Appreciation Scale. To determine the population sample for this study, a pilot project was carried out with 10 women, respecting inclusion and exclusion criteria. Women of reproductive age, from 18 to 44 years old, who have already started their sexual life, and residing in the city of Santa Maria/RS, were included in the research. Of the excluded ones; postpartum women up to 45 days postpartum, pregnant women, women undergoing cancer treatment and who have cognitive deficits that compromise the answers to the questionnaires. Data analyzes were performed using the software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). For asymmetric variables, the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test was performed and the significance level adopted was 5%. Results: the sexual function of older women was poor (22.4) compared to women of reproductive age (30.2). Regarding body self-image, the rate of elderly women was higher (5) than adult women (4.1). It is concluded that it is possible to observe significant changes when comparing different generations of women in terms of sexuality and body self-image, thus showing possible advances in terms of freedoms and empowerments, as well as some influences still socially determined. A fim de trazer à tona uma discussão intergeracional, visto que as percepções acerca da sexualidade, bem como as constantes mudanças do mundo contemporâneo e as cobranças estéticas que assolam os corpos das mulheres, passaram por diversas modificações ao longo dos anos, este trabalho é um estudo que tem como objetivo comparar a função sexual e a autoimagem corporal de mulheres em idade reprodutiva com mulheres idosas, residentes de uma cidade no interior do Rio Grande do Sul. Pesquisa observacional, de abordagem quantitativa e caráter transversal, com mulheres de 18 a 44 anos. A coleta de dados foi realizada via entrevista virtual e os dados para comparação de mulheres idosas foram derivados da pesquisa “Fatores que interferem na autoimagem genital de idosas”. Ambos os estudos derivam do projeto intitulado “Relação entre dor no assoalho pélvico, função sexual e autoimagem genital de idosas com e sem fibromialgia”, aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da UFSM com o número do CAAE: 80587517.0.0000.5346. Todos os estudos estão vinculados ao Programa de Pós Graduação em Gerontologia, da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Os instrumentos utilizados para esta pesquisa são: Ficha de Avaliação Adaptada, Female Sexual Function Index, Female Genital Self-Image Scale e Body Appreciation Scale. Para determinar a amostra da população deste trabalho, foi realizado projeto piloto com 10 mulheres, respeitando critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Foram incluídas na pesquisa mulheres em idade reprodutiva, dos 18 aos 44 anos, que já tenham iniciado suas vidas sexuais, e residentes da cidade de Santa Maria/RS. Das excluídas; puérperas até 45 dias pós-parto, gestantes, mulheres em tratamento oncológico e que apresentem déficit cognitivo que comprometa as respostas aos questionários. As análises dos dados foram realizadas através do software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Para as variáveis assimétricas, foi realizado o teste não paramétrico de Mann-Whitney e o nível de significância adotado de 5%. Resultados: a função sexual das mulheres idosas se mostrou ruim (22,4) em comparação as mulheres em idade reprodutiva (30,2). Quanto à autoimagem corporal, o índice das idosas foi superior (5) em relação às mulheres adultas (4,1). Conclui-se que é possível observar mudanças significativas ao compararmos diferentes gerações de mulheres quanto a sexualidade e autoimagem corporal, evidenciando assim possíveis avanços quanto às liberdades e empoderamentos, bem como algumas influências ainda determinadas socialmente.

From the increase in life expectancy of the world population emerges the need for attention on the part of society and health systems to find a way to adapt to this new reality. It is important to “think, discuss, plan and implement” actions that promote the quality of life of this population. In this sense, rehabilitation emerges as a viable alternative, as it is a set of actions that help to preserve the subject's functionality, autonomy and independence. Objective: to characterize the care provided to the elderly person in a rehabilitation unit, based on the premises of geriatric rehabilitation, seeking to qualify multiprofessional approaches that aim to reduce functional losses. Methodology: this is a quantitative, descriptive research, through document analysis, of elderly people in a rehabilitation program in a teaching hospital. Sociodemographic variables were analyzed (age, gender, marital status, family group, education, occupation and color or ethnicity), life habits (alcoholism, smoking, physical and sexual activity), functional evaluation by means of scales and instruments (Mini Mental State Examination, Verbal Fluency Test, Body Mass Index, Calf Circumference, Geriatric Depression Scale, Katz Index, Lawton Scale, Time up and go test, among others). Those of the attending professionals were also identified. The data were plotted in an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed using the SPSS Statistical program (Version 21.0). Results: A total of 47 elderly people who were treated at the service, 55.3% were men, 93.6% were white, and the overall mean age was 69.87 years. Most of the elderly people had as marital status married 57.4%, where 57.9% were retired and 55.3% had incomplete elementary school education. Life habits were evaluated in 63.8% of the patients; of these, 13.3% were active smokers, 10% used alcoholic beverages, 20% practiced physical activity, and reported having an active sex life. The prevalence of underlying diseases was of cardiovascular disease (n=11), lung disease (n=10), osteoarticular disease (n=10), cancer (n=7), among others. Regarding associated comorbidities, the highest prevalence was of cardiovascular disease 74.4%, endocrine 34.1%, osteoarticular and psychiatric 19.2% each, pulmonary 17%, among others. The calf circumference analysis identified a median of 36.50 (minimum 30, maximum 42-median 36.08 (±3.70), where the majority of the elderly had CP >31 cm. Polypharmacy reached 91.5%. The care provided in the rehabilitation unit was mostly provided by physical therapists, nurses, and geriatricians. Conclusion: This study outlined the clinical and functional profile of the elderly in rehabilitation and the professionals involved in geriatric rehabilitation. It is envisaged that new studies will be carried out, and from there, more investment will be made in the complexity of care directed to geriatric rehabilitation, as recommended by the relevant guidelines. Do aumento da expectativa de vida da população mundial emerge a necessidade de atenção por parte da sociedade e dos sistemas de saúde de encontrar uma forma de se adequar a essa nova realidade. É importante “pensar, discutir, planejar e implementar” ações que promovam a qualidade de vida dessa população. Nesse sentido, a reabilitação surge como alternativa viável, pois é um conjunto de ações que auxiliam na preservação da funcionalidade, autonomia e da independência do sujeito. Objetivo: caracterizar o atendimento prestado à pessoa idosa em uma unidade de reabilitação, a partir das premissas da reabilitação geriátrica, buscando qualificar abordagens multiprofissionais que visem diminuir perdas funcionais. Metodologia: trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa, descritiva, por meio da análise documental, de pessoas idosas em programa de reabilitação em um hospital-escola. Foram analisadas variáveis sociodemográficas (idade, gênero, estado civil, grupo familiar, escolaridade, ocupação e cor ou etnia), hábitos de vida (alcoolismo, tabagismo, atividade física e sexual), avaliação funcional por meio de escalas e instrumentos (Miniexame do Estado Mental, Teste de Fluência Verbal, Índice de Massa Corporal, Circunferência de Panturrilha, Escala de Depressão Geriátrica, Índice de Katz, Escala de Lawton, Time up and go test, entre outros). Também foram identificados os dos profissionais assistentes. Os dados foram plotados em planilha Excel e analisados por meio do programa Estatístico SPSS (Versão 21.0). Resultados: Total de 47 idosos que foram atendidos no serviço – 55,3% homens, de cor branca, 93,6%, com idade média geral de 69,87 anos. A maioria das pessoas idosas tinha como estado civil casado (57,4%), em que 57,9% eram aposentados e 55,3% tinham ensino fundamental incompleto. Os hábitos de vida foram avaliados em 63,8% dos pacientes, destes, 13,3% eram fumantes ativos, 10% faziam uso de bebida alcoólica, 20% praticavam atividade física e referiram ter uma vida sexual ativa. A prevalência das doenças de base foi de doença cardiovascular (n=11), doença pulmonar (n=10), doença osteoarticular (n=10), neoplasia (n=7), entre outras. Em relação às comorbidades associadas, a maior prevalência foi de doenças cardiovasculares (74,4%), endócrinas (34,1%), osteoarticular e psiquiátricas (19,2%) cada, pulmonar (17%), entre outras. A análise de circunferência de panturrilha identificou a mediana de 36,50 (mínima de 30, máxima de 42 - média 36,08 [±3,70]), em que a maioria das pessoas idosas apresentou CP >31 cm. A polifarmácia chegou a 91,5%. Os atendimentos na unidade de reabilitação foram feitos, em sua maioria, por fisioterapeuta, enfermeiro e geriatra. Conclusão: Este estudo delineou o perfil clínico funcional dos idosos na reabilitação e os profissionais envolvidos na reabilitação geriátrica. Vislumbrase que novos estudos sejam feitos, e, a partir daí, invista-se mais na complexidade do atendimento direcionado à reabilitação geriátrica, conforme preconizam as diretrizes pertinentes.

Technological evolution in health in recent centuries has allowed a very large epidemiological change in the causes of illness and death in the population, also affecting childhood. Many patients are chronically dependent on healthcare, bringing new challenges to the care of children. It is in this new logic of care that Pediatric Palliative Care emerges. The Brazilian Society of Pediatrics, faced with this new field of pediatric work, developed guidelines to facilitate the promotion of the practice. This study sought to investigate whether such guidelines are being complied with in a teaching hospital in the south of the country through the application of a questionnaire with patients and family members hospitalized in pediatric infirmary units and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in a period of 9 months. In addition, the epidemiological profile of this sample of the population was sought. In total, 124 families and patients participated in the study, with a predominance of males, under 6 years old, with a family income of less than 2 minimum wages and maternal education at elementary level. Most diagnoses are chronic, with extreme prematurity being the most frequent diagnosis with 37 patients (25%), followed by cerebral palsy with 17 patients (13.7%). Regarding the principles, it was found that communication took place properly, as well as the participation of a multidisciplinary team. Pain management, on the other hand, still needs to be improved, since no pain scale was used to assess patients, despite the pain scales applied showing pain control, different from the parents' perception of their children's suffering. Other symptoms such as tiredness, drowsiness and anxiety were reported as worrisome to the patients' relatives. Spirituality was not addressed in 55.6% of the consultations, showing that the health team should value this part of the anamnesis more. It was concluded, therefore, that the hospital partially complies with the guidelines of the Brazilian Society of Pediatrics in assisting children with an indication of Palliative Care. A flow of action is proposed at the end for the best implementation of the guidelines. A evolução tecnológica em saúde nos últimos séculos permitiu uma mudança epidemiológica muito grande nas causas de adoecimento e morte da população, afetando também a infância. Muitos pacientes estão dependentes dos cuidados de saúde cronicamente, trazendo novos desafios para o cuidar das crianças. É nessa nova lógica do cuidar que o Cuidado Paliativo Pediátrico surge. A Sociedade Brasileira de Pediatria, frente a esse novo ramo de trabalho pediátrico, elaborou diretrizes para facilitar o fomento da prática. Este trabalho buscou investigar se tais diretrizes estão sendo cumpridas em um hospital escola do sul do país através da aplicação de um questionário com pacientes e familiares internados nas unidades de enfermaria pediátrica e Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Pediátrica no período de 9 meses. Além disso, buscou-se o perfil epidemiológico desta amostra da população. No total, 124 famílias e pacientes participaram do estudo, sendo a predominância do sexo masculino, de menores de 6 anos, com renda familiar menor que 2 salários mínimos e a escolaridade materna é de nível fundamental. A maioria dos diagnósticos são crônicos, sendo a prematuridade extrema o diagnóstico mais frequentes com 37 pacientes (25%), seguido de paralisia cerebral com 17 pacientes (13,7%). Em relação aos princípios, verificou-se que a comunicação se deu de maneira adequada, bem como a participação de uma equipe multidisciplinar. Já o manejo da dor ainda precisa ser incrementado, já que nenhuma escala de dor foi utilizada para avaliar os pacientes, apesar das escalas de dor aplicadas mostrarem controle da mesma, diferente da percepção dos pais sobre o sofrimento de seus filhos. Outros sintomas como cansaço, sonolência e ansiedade foram relatados como preocupantes para os familiares dos pacientes. A espiritualidade não foi abordada em 55,6% dos atendimentos, mostrando que a equipe de saúde deve valorizar mais essa parte da anamnese. Concluiu-se, portanto, que o hospital cumpre, parcialmente, as diretrizes da Sociedade Brasileira de Pediatria na assistência às crianças com indicação de Cuidado Paliativo. Propõe-se um fluxo de ação ao final para a melhor implementação das diretrizes.

Introduction: The role of food and nutrition in the management of clotting disorders is poorly understood. Vitamin K seems to be one of the factors that influence the stability of anticoagulation, but there is controversy about the orientation regarding food consumption an d source of vitamin K for patients using vitamin K antagonists (VKA). Objective: To evaluate vitamin k intake on anticoagulation stability in outpatients with atrial fibrillation. Method : coorte study , with data collection between January and December 2021. The sample consisted of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) followed up at the anticoagulation outpatient clinic of a University Hospital in the South of Brazil. Q A structured questionnaire was used at the beginning of the study to collec sociodemographic data, clinicians, t lifestyle, medication and laboratory tests. The assessment of vitamin K consumption was performed using a 24hour food recall. The prothrombin time (PT) was evaluated and it was corrected for the international standardiza tion ratio (INR). The anticoagulation history and efficacy for each patient was evaluated using the time in the therapeutic range (TFT), using Rosendaal's Linear Interpolation Method. Patients were followed for two months, in a total of 3 visits (baseline, 30 and 60 days). In all consultations, the RA24h and the PT were measured. The rapid and uncontrolled spread of COVID-19 has caused fear around the world. Measures had to be taken to try to contain the contagion, such as strict hygiene habits, mask wearing and social distance. The population considered the most vulnerable to the disease were the elderly. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the physical activity (PA) level and mental health of the elderly. It is a cross-sectional study characterized as correlational descriptive research. The target population of this study are elderly participants in senior living groups, in Santa Maria-RS and linked to the Integrated Center for Studies and Support for the Elderly (NIEATI) of the Physical Education and Sports Center (CEFD) of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). For data collection, a questionnaire with characterization questions was applied, as well as the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)-short version to estimate the PA level, and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) and the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), both validated for the Portuguese language, to assess mental health. Population aging has become one of the greatest public health challenges. This was due to the increase in life expectancy and the insertion of new health technologies. Consequently, there is an increase in the demand for the improvement of public health policies and the restructuring of health care assistance for th is population. Thus, the objective of this study was to know the care provided by nurses and physicians to the elderly in primary health care (PHC). This is a descriptive field research, with a quantitative approach, through a questionnaire via the Google Forms platform. Nurses and doctors registered in their respective councils in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) were included, and who have been working for at least six years. months in PHC with care for the elderly. Data were analyzed descriptively. Th e research had the participation of 65 doctors (41.7%) and 91 nurses (58.3%) who work in the area covered by the 4th Regional Health Coordination, in the state of RS. With this research, it was possible to know the profile of professionals and their perfor mance in PHC in the care of the elderly. The importance of correct understanding and use of the National Health Policy for the Elderly and Elderly Person's Health Handbook, the relevance of the team and multidisciplinary care, especially the joint action o f nurses and doctors in order to qualify the care provided, with due referral, when necessary and the importance of the companion to the elderly user during health care in order to have a better understanding between both parties. Consequentemente, há um aumento da demanda por aprimoramento de políticas públicas de saúde e reestruturação da assistência do cuidado à saúde desta população. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi conhecer o atendimento do profissional enfermeiro e médico à pessoa idosa na atenção primária à saúde (APS). Trata-se de uma pesquisa de campo, descritiva e com abordagem quantitativa, através de um questionário via plataforma do Google Forms. Foram incluídos enfermeiros e médicos registrados nos seus respectivos conselhos do Rio Grande do Sul (RS) e que atuam há pelo menos seis meses na APS com atendimento às pessoas idosas. Os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva. A pesquisa contou com a participação de 65 médicos (41,7%) e 91 enfermeiros (58,3%) que atuam na área de abrangência da 4ª Coordenadoria Regional de Saúde do RS. Com essa pesquisa, foi possível conhecer o perfil dos profissionais e atuação dos mesmos na APS no atendimento à pessoa idosa. Evidenciou-se a importância da compreensão correta e a utilização da Política Nacional de Saúde da Pessoa Idosa e da Caderneta de Saúde da Pessoa Idosa, a relevância da equipe e do atendimento multidisciplinar, principalmente da atuação conjunta dos enfermeiros e médicos com intuito de qualificar a assistência prestada, com devidos encaminhamentos, quando necessário, e a importância do acompanhante ao usuário idoso durante os atendimentos em saúde a fim de uma melhor compreensão entre ambas as partes.

The decision for adoption is a fundamental moment for the constitution of adoptive parenting, being the preparation for the arrival of the new member to the family a decisive step. From the perspective of professionals involved in the adoption process, we sought to systematize a preparation program for adopting parents. This is a qualitative study, in which 18 informants from the field of adoption participated, such as judges, psychologists, coordinators of support groups, among others. The interviews were analyzed using Content Analysis. From listening to these professionals, it was noted that there is still a weakness in the preparation of adoptive mothers and fathers regarding the emotional aspects of adoption, which may indicate a risk in the establishment of secure bonds between parents and adopted children and, therefore, therefore increase the risk of adoption interruptions. In the case of adoptive affiliation, it is important that these parents are safe and with the emotional issues prepared so that they are able to welcome and accept the child with all the demands that it will raise, in order to provide a good enough environment, with satisfactory care that favors the child's development. integral development of the child or adolescent. It is concluded that it is necessary to promote spaces for the elaboration of the emotional issues of the parents, as well as the preparation of them, through trained professionals regarding the subject of adoption, favors the success in the transition to adoptive parenting. A decisão pela adoção é um momento fundamental para a constituição da parentalidade adotiva, sendo a preparação para a chegada do novo membro à família um passo decisivo. Buscou-se compreender que aspectos psicológicos envolvem a adoção pela ótica dos profissionais atuantes nas diversas esferas do Sistema de Garantia dos Direitos da Criança e do Adolescente, a fim de sistematizar um programa de preparação para mães e pais adotantes. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, no qual participaram 18 informantes do campo da adoção, como juízes, psicólogos, coordenadores de grupos de apoio, entre outros. As entrevistas foram analisadas por meio da Análise de Conteúdo. A partir da escuta desses profissionais, notou-se que ainda existe uma fragilidade na preparação de mães e pais adotantes no que tange aos aspectos emocionais da adoção, o que pode indicar um risco no estabelecimento de vínculos seguros entre pais e filhos adotados e, por conseguinte, aumentar o risco de interrupções de adoções. No caso da filiação adotiva, é importante que esses pais estejam seguros e com as questões emocionais elaboradas para que consigam acolher e aceitar o filho com todas as demandas que ele suscitará, a fim de proporcionar um ambiente suficientemente bom, com cuidados satisfatórios que favoreçam o desenvolvimento integral da criança ou adolescente. Segundo os participantes, tanto a projeção de planos sobre a criança quanto a promoção de mudanças nos espaços físicos e na organização da família, bem como a abertura para falar sobre a história prévia da criança e o conhecimento sobre as etapas do desenvolvimento de cada criança/adolescente favorecem a vinculação, pois facilitam a identificação entre os pais com o filho que chega. Os relatos indicaram que a falta de preparo e/ou pouco conhecimento sobre a realidade das crianças adotadas podem favorecer a criação de expectativas irreais em relação a elas, dificultando a construção de vínculos seguros. Conclui-se que é preciso fomentar espaços para elaboração das questões emocionais dos pais, bem como a preparação dos mesmos, por meio de profissionais capacitados no que tange o assunto da adoção favorece o êxito na transição para a parentalidade adotiva.

Aging is characterized as a progressive process that subjects individuals to physical and functional changes. Genital self-image is conceptualized as a feeling or behavior that arises from direct or indirect experiences involving the genitals. A woman's perception of her genital organ can be influenced by sexual experiences. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between genital self-image and sexual activity in elderly women. A retrospective research was carried out from a database of an observational research carried out with elderly women aged 60 to 80 years old in the city of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. Information from the database of sexually active, with preserved cognitive function was included. Elderly women whose records were incomplete in the database, women who reported difficulty in responding to the research instruments, as well as those with active self-reported genital pathology were excluded. Data collection was performed using the following instruments: Adapted Assessment Form used by the Gerontology Laboratory (LAGER) of the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina - UDESC, Female Genital Self-Image Scale (FGSIS), Female Sexual Function Index/Index of Female Sexual Function (FSFI) and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Categorical variables were analyzed using simple frequency and percentages, and numerical variables by measures of position and dispersion. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Aging is an irreversible process that is associated with the decline of certain biological functions, including those visible on the skin. Oxidative stress, resulting from the formation of excess reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as the superoxide anion (O2●), can be considered the central mechanism of skin aging. Although the relevance of oxidative metabolism in aging is well established, investigations on the subject do not address the specific role of different ROS in triggering changes related to senescence. In this sense, it is possible that changes in mitochondrial O2● levels induce proliferative and functional changes in dermal fibroblasts, contributing to skin aging. To test this hypothesis, the present study evaluated the in vitro effect of the pharmacological imbalance of superoxide anion, induced by acute exposure to rotenone, on the modulation of markers of replicative and functional senescence of young dermal fibroblasts. For that, cultures of the commercial strain of human fibroblasts (HFF-1) were exposed to rotenone for 72 hours and compared with the control group in two complementary protocols. The first protocol evaluated five different concentrations of rotenone in order to identify the concentration capable of triggering senescence changes in β-galactosidase activity, cell proliferation, apoptosis and superoxide anion markers. In a second moment, the effect of the rotenone concentration chosen in the previous protocol was evaluated in chromosomal alterations by micronucleus test, oxidative stress markers, fibroblast interconnections and intra and extracellular collagen deposition. The impact of rotenone on the expression of genes that participate in collagen metabolism was also investigated here. The results showed that, although rotenone-treated cells did not express increased superoxide levels, there was a decrease in mitochondrial metabolism activity (concentrations from 0.5 to 1.5 µM) and an increase in βgalactosidase activity levels. (concentrations from 0.5 to 2.5 µM), in addition, none of the concentrations showed cytotoxic activity, nor were they able to induce interruption in the rate of cell synthesis. However, rotenone at a concentration of 1 µM induced an increase in the frequency of apoptotic cells. Based on these results, a 1 µM concentration of rotenone was used in complementary tests showing greater DNA damage, increased levels of oxidative markers, decreased cytoplasmic fibroblast connections and extracellular collagen deposition. Additional analysis showed downregulation of the collagen I genes, FGF-2 and FGF-7, and overexpression of the MMP-1 gene. Despite the methodological limitations inherent to the in vitro study, our results suggest that O2● could be an oxidative molecule that triggers replicative and functional prosenescence changes in fibroblasts, contributing to skin aging. O estresse oxidativo, resultante da formação em excesso de espécies reativas de oxigênio (EROS), como o ânion superóxido (O2●), pode ser considerado o mecanismo central do envelhecimento cutâneo. Apesar da relevância do metabolismo oxidativo no envelhecimento estar bem consolidada, as investigações sobre o tema não abordam o papel específico das diferentes EROs no desencadeamento de alterações relacionadas a senescência. Neste sentido, é possível que alterações nos níveis de O2● mitocondrial induzam alterações proliferativas e funcionais nos fibroblastos dérmicos contribuindo para o envelhecimento da pele. Para testar essa hipótese, o presente estudo avaliou o efeito in vitro do desbalanço farmacológico do ânion superóxido, induzido pela exposição aguda à rotenona, na modulação de marcadores de senescência replicativa e funcional de fibroblastos dérmicos jovens. Para tanto, culturas da linhagem comercial de fibroblastos humanos (HFF-1) foram expostas à rotenona por 72 horas e comparadas com o grupo controle em dois protocolos complementares. O primeiro protocolo avaliou cinco diferentes concentrações de rotenona a fim de identificar a concentração que fosse capaz de desencadear alterações de senescência na atividade da β-galactosidase, proliferação celular, apoptose e marcadores de ânion superóxido. Em um segundo momento, o efeito da concentração de rotenona escolhida no protocolo anterior foi avaliado em alterações cromossômicas por teste de micronúcleo, marcadores de estresses oxidativo, interconexões de fibroblastos e deposição de colágeno intra e extracelular. O impacto da rotenona na expressão de genes que participam do metabolismo do colágeno também foi investigado aqui. Os resultados mostraram que, embora as células tratadas com rotenona não tenham expressado aumento dos níveis de superóxido, houve diminuição na atividade do metabolismo mitocondrial (concentrações de 0,5 a 1,5 µM) e um aumento nos níveis de atividade da β-galactosidase (concentrações de 0,5 a 2,5 µM). Além disso, nenhuma das concentrações apresentou atividade citotóxica, nem foram capazes de induzir interrupção na taxa de síntese celular. Entretanto, a rotenona na concentração de 1 µM induziu um aumento na frequência de células apoptóticas. Com base nestes resultados a concentração de 1 µM de rotenona foi utilizado em testes complementares mostrando maior dano ao DNA, aumento nos níveis de marcadores oxidativos, diminuição das conexões de fibroblastos citoplasmáticos e na deposição de colágeno extracelular. Uma análise adicional mostrou downregulation dos genes do colágeno I, FGF-2 e FGF-7, e superexpressão do gene MMP-1. Apesar das limitações metodológicas inerentes ao estudo in vitro, nossos resultados sugerem que o O2● pode ser considerado uma molécula oxidativa desencadeadora de alterações pró-senescência replicativa e funcional nos fibroblastos, contribuindo para o envelhecimento da pele.

In February 2020, Brazil was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. With the aggravation of the disease, containment measures were implemented, which included social distancing and isolation. As a result, the effects of the pandemic on the mental health of the population were profound and could become even worse. There were studies linking depression and other serious psychopathologies with suicide in several cases during the pandemic, and there were suggestions that suicide rates would increase, and become an imminent concern as the pandemic spreads and its effects would be felt by the population. Therefore, the objective of this study was to understand the impacts of the pandemic on the perception of subjects with severe psychopathological symptoms and suicidal behavior. This is an exploratory, descriptive and qualitative study. The inclusion criteria were: Being over 18 years of age, presenting a clinical diagnosis for depression, affective mood disorder, schizophrenia, mixed anxiety and depressive disorder, and suicidal behavior. The exclusion criterion used consisted of presenting psychic fragility to respond to the interview. Twelve people participated, of both sexes, from Agudo, RS. The study took place through a semistructured interview held in December 2021. The results found showed greater damage to mental health and risk of life in four participants, compared to the others. The associated factors in these cases were related to the individual history, and the sum of others generated by the pandemic, such as isolation, distancing, changes in roles, and mainly due to the interruption of psychological and psychiatric treatments. Finally, as a prevention strategy, a booklet of recommendations for health professionals was prepared, containing information about the aggravation of risks identified in patients who interrupted mental health treatment. It was also suggested that the municipality create an instrument to monitor these serious cases in psychological distress and suicidal behavior, triggered by the pandemic. Em fevereiro de 2020, o Brasil foi afetado pela pandemia da COVID-19. Com o agravo da doença implementou-se as medidas de contenção, que incluíram o distanciamento social e o isolamento. Por conseguinte, os efeitos da pandemia na saúde mental da população foram profundos e poderiam agravar-se ainda mais. Houve estudos que associavam a depressão e outras psicopatologias graves ao suicídio em vários casos durante a pandemia, e havia sugestões de que as taxas de suicídio aumentariam, e se tornariam uma preocupação iminente à medida que a pandemia se espalhasse e seus efeitos seriam sentidos pela população. Portanto, o objetivo desse estudo foi compreender os impactos da pandemia na percepção dos sujeitos com sintomas psicopatológicos graves e comportamento suicida. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório, descritivo e de natureza qualitativa. Os critérios de inclusão foram: Ter acima de 18 anos, apresentar diagnóstico clínico para depressão, transtorno afetivo de humor, esquizofrenia, transtorno misto ansioso e depressivo, e comportamento suicida. O critério de exclusão empregado consistiu em apresentar fragilidade psíquica para responder a entrevista. Participaram 12 pessoas, de ambos os sexos, de Agudo, RS. O estudo ocorreu por meio de uma entrevista semiestruturada realizada em dezembro de 2021. Os resultados encontrados evidenciaram maior prejuízo na saúde mental e risco de vida em quatro participantes, em comparação aos demais. Os fatores associados nesses casos relacionaram-se ao histórico individual, e ao somatório de outros gerados pela pandemia, como isolamento, distanciamento, mudanças de papéis, e principalmente pela interrupção dos tratamentos psicológicos e psiquiátricos. Por fim, como estratégia de prevenção elaborou-se uma cartilha de recomendações aos profissionais de saúde, contendo informações acerca do agravamento de riscos identificados nos pacientes que interromperam o tratamento em saúde mental. Também sugeriu- se ao município a criação de um instrumento de monitoramento destes casos graves em sofrimento psíquico e comportamento suicida, desencadeados pela pandemia.

The term autism conceptualizes childhood neurodevelopmental disorders that manifest themselves through deficits in the areas of language, social interaction and behavior. Often, characteristics such as speech delay, communication deficit, difficulty socializing, behavioral rigidity, low frustration tolerance, and low resilience to routine changes transform the autistic environment into a place that requires daily changes to facilitate the adaptation of this individual in society. In 2020, the world was faced with the new coronavirus pandemic. Suddenly, new rules and routines were imposed by government representatives, aiming to reduce the spread of this disease. In the world, a scenario with sudden deaths, personal suffering, social isolation, suspension of activities defined as non-essential, financial loss, and collective emotional instability became commonplace. For the autistic individual, who already needed daily adaptations in pre-pandemic times, this context generated a profound negative impact on his daily activities. In this scenario, family members and health professionals were driven to seek new adaptive strategies to help the autistic individual to overcome the demands arising from the pandemic of COVID-19. The present study aimed to review in the scientific literature the strategies that emerged to facilitate the adaptation of the individual with autistic spectrum disorder to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic scenario. The search occurred in the SCOPUS AND PUBMED databases, with the keywords "Strategies", "ASD", "Autism", "COVID-19 Pandemic". Providing accurate and succinct information about the pandemic to autistic people, reorganizing their new routines, redirecting increased free time, adapting the home for educational/ physical/ leisure activities, providing therapeutic support for autistic people and family members were some strategies described as facilitators of the pandemic acceptance process by the autistic person. Continuous reflections on autism and its adaptive needs should be addressed in pandemic and non-pandemic periods in search of an inclusive and dignified life for all individuals immersed in the autistic environment. O termo autismo conceitua os transtornos do neurodesenvolvimento infantil que se manifestam através de déficits nas áreas da linguagem, da interação social e do comportamento. Frequentemente, características como atraso de fala, déficit na comunicação, dificuldade para conviver socialmente, rigidez comportamental, baixa tolerância a frustração e baixa resiliência diante de mudanças de rotina transformam o ambiente autista em um lugar que exige mudanças diárias que facilitem a adaptação desse indivíduo na sociedade. Em 2020, o mundo se deparou com a pandemia do novo coronavírus. Subitamente, novas regras e rotinas foram impostas por representantes governamentais, objetivando reduzir a disseminação dessa doença. No mundo, tornou-se comum um cenário com mortes súbitas, sofrimento pessoal, isolamento social, suspensão de atividades definidas como não essenciais, prejuízo financeiro e instabilidade emocional coletiva. Para o indivíduo autista, que já precisava de adaptações diárias em tempos pré-pandêmicos, esse contexto gerou profundo impacto negativo em suas atividades diárias. Nesse cenário, familiares e profissionais de saúde foram impelidos a buscar novas estratégias adaptativas para auxiliar o indivíduo autista a superar as demandas advindas com a pandemia da COVID-19. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo revisar na literatura científica estratégias que surgiram para facilitar a adaptação do indivíduo com transtorno do espectro autista ao cenário da pandemia do SARS-CoV-2. A pesquisa ocorreu nas bases de dados SCOPUS E PUBMED, com as palavras-chave “Estratégias”, “TEA”, “Autismo”, “Pandemia do COVID19”. Fornecer informações precisas e sucintas sobre a pandemia para os autistas, reorganizar suas novas rotinas, redirecionar o aumento do tempo livre, adaptar o domicílio para atividades educacional/ física/ lazer, fornecer suporte terapêutico para autistas e familiares foram algumas estratégias descritas como facilitadores do processo de aceitação da pandemia pelo autista. Reflexões contínuas sobre o autismo e suas necessidades adaptativas devem ser abordadas em períodos pandêmico e não pandêmico em busca de uma vida inclusiva e digna a todos os indivíduos imersos ao ambiente autista.

Psoriasis is a disease of systemic involvement and insidious nature, which occurs with sub-clinical chronic inflammation, leading to a higher risk of comorbidities. The trabecular bone score, in turn, is an index for estimating bone microarchitecture by means of analysis in lumbar vertebrae, and is a predictor of fracture risk, regardless of bone mineral density. Therefore, this work aims to evaluate the trabecular bone score, bone mineral density, and body composition in patients diagnosed with psoriasis being followed up at the dermatology outpatient clinic of Santa Maria University Hospital. This is a cross-sectional study, with patients over 18 years of age and diagnosed with severe psoriasis at follow-up from July 2021 to March 30, 2022. Patients with diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, body mass index greater than 35, and a diagnosis of psoriasis more than 15 years ago were excluded. The clinical variables analyzed were gender, age, menopause, smoking, alcohol consumption, duration of disease, age at diagnosis, immunosuppression/use of oral corticosteroids, current treatment, diagnosis of other autoimmune diseases, abdominal circumference, weight, height, and body mass index. Through bone densitometry and body composition examinations, the mineral density in the femur and lumbar spine, trabecular bone score, android to gynoid ratio, body fat index, and appendicular muscle mass index were measured. The sample contains 17 patients, nine female and eight male, aged between 24 and 70 years, with a diagnosis of severe psoriasis. The median time of illness in the analyzed group was 10 years. One patient had degraded microarchitecture, six patients were diagnosed with osteopenia, and one patient had osteoporosis. There was a statistically significant difference in the prevalence of altered bone mass for the patients over 50 years old in the sample when compared to the general population of the same age group. The data suggest that there may need to be several years of bone exposure to psoriatic skin disease before significant bone loss emerges. The densitometric evaluation associated with the trabecular bone score is of great value, as patients with psoriasis without joint disease may also show signs of bone loss, even without a significant decrease in bone mass when compared to healthy controls. In addition, psoriasis has a high psychosocial burden and, in its severe form, can predispose patients to obesity. There is also evidence of benefit in earlier screening for bone changes in patients with severe psoriasis over the age of 50 years, with the inclusion of bone assessment in the management of the disease to screen for potential fractures and consequent reduction in overall morbidity associated with psoriatic disease. A psoríase é uma doença de acometimento sistêmico e de caráter insidioso, que ocorre com inflamação crônica subclínica, acarretando maior risco de comorbidades. O escore do osso trabecular, por sua vez, constitui um índice para estimar a microarquitetura óssea por meio da análise em vértebras lombares, sendo preditor de risco de fraturas, independentemente da densidade mineral óssea. Diante disso, este trabalho objetiva avaliar o escore do osso trabecular, a densidade mineral óssea e a composição corporal em pacientes com diagnóstico de psoríase em acompanhamento no ambulatório de dermatologia do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, com pacientes maiores de 18 anos e diagnóstico de psoríase grave em acompanhamento de julho de 2021 a 30 de março de 2022. Foram excluídos pacientes com diabetes mellitus, doença renal crônica, hipertensão arterial sistêmica, índice de massa corporal maior que 35 e diagnóstico de psoríase há mais de 15 anos. As variáveis clínicas analisadas foram sexo, idade, menopausa, tabagismo, ingestão alcoólica, tempo de doença, idade no diagnóstico, imunossupressão/uso de corticoide oral, tratamento atual, diagnóstico de outras doenças autoimunes, circunferência abdominal, peso, altura e índice de massa corporal. Por intermédio dos exames de densitometria óssea e de composição corporal, foram aferidas a densidade mineral no fêmur e na coluna lombar, o escore do osso trabecular, a taxa androide/ginoide, o índice de gordura corporal e o índice de massa muscular apendicular. A amostra contém 17 pacientes, nove do sexo feminino e oito do sexo masculino, com idade entre 24 e 70 anos, apresentando diagnóstico de psoríase grave. A mediana do tempo de doença no grupo analisado foi de 10 anos. Um paciente apresentou microarquitetura degradada, seis pacientes foram diagnosticados com osteopenia, e um paciente tinha osteoporose. Houve diferença estatisticamente significativa quanto à prevalência de alteração da massa óssea para os pacientes acima de 50 anos na amostra quando comparada com a população em geral de mesma faixa etária. Os dados sugerem que pode haver necessidade de vários anos de exposição óssea à doença de pele psoriática antes que surja uma perda óssea significativa. A avaliação densitométrica associada ao escore do osso trabecular é de grande valia, pois pacientes com psoríase sem doença articular também podem apresentar perda óssea mais precoce quando comparadas à população geral da mesma idade. Ademais, a psoríase tem uma carga psicossocial elevada e, em sua forma grave, pode predispor os pacientes à obesidade. Assim, há indícios do benefício de antecipação do rastreamento das alterações ósseas nos pacientes com psoríase grave acima dos 50 anos, com inclusão da avaliação óssea no manejo da doença para triagem de indivíduos que potencialmente sofrerão fraturas e consequente diminuição da morbidade global associada à doença psoriática.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Background: This study aimed to identify the ideal cutoff point of the SAGE score, which indicates a high risk of pulse wave velocity (PWV) ≥10 m/s, in a sample of outpatients with and without systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), in the city of Santa Maria, RS. Because the SAGE score has not been validated so far in populations without the diagnosis of SAH, the applicability of sage in the sample of non-hypertensive individuals involved a hypothesis analysis. Materials and Methods: An analysis was performed in individuals with and without diagnosis of SAH, who underwent follow-up in a private cardiology service. The PWV was measured by oscillometric device (Dyna-MAPA-AOP®, Cardios, São Paulo, Brazil). A total of 307 individuals were included, who had data collected from medical records. After applying the SAGE score, the results were compared with the PWV. The ROC curve was elaborated using the Youden index in order to establish the best score that identifies patients at high risk of high PWV. Results: Age ranged from 30 to 92 years. PWV ≥ 10 m/s occurred only in patients aged ≥ 66 years. The ideal cutoff point in the SAGE score, according to the Youden Index, was identified in 6. In individuals with SAH (n=212), the ROC curve presented an area under the curve (AUC) with accuracy of 93.8% (95% CI from 90.8% to 96.8%, p ≤0.001). Of the 95 non-hypertensives, the cutoff point ≥ 6 was found to be the most accurate. The AUC determined the accuracy of the SAGE score of 96.9% (95% CI from 94.0% to 99.8%, p≤0.001). Analyzing the total population (with and without SAH, n=307), it was observed the accuracy of the SAGE score in predicting VOP ≥ 10 m/s of 94.8% (95% CI from 92.9% to 97.0%, p≤0.001). A qualitative analysis was performed, also seeking the best specificity of the method. A cutoff point 7 in the group with SAH (n=212) decreased sensitivity to 68%, but increased specificity to 92%, with a negative likelihood ratio (LR-) of 0.3467. Severe asthma is a complex syndrome and an important global health problem that requires an integrated therapeutic approach. With this in mind, the aim of the present study was to clinically and functionally evaluate adult patients with severe uncontrolled allergic asthma, treated at the pulmonology service of the University Hospital of Santa Maria (HUSM), of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), by using omalizumab. This is a retrospective, cross-sectional and descriptive study, with data obtained through the analysis of medical records. The sample was obtained from the HUSM/UFSM pulmonology service database. Patients using omalizumab, a humanized anti-IgE monoclonal antibody, indicated in patients with severe uncontrolled allergic asthma, were included in the study, after a systematic review of treatment adherence, correct medication inhalation technique, environmental control and treatment of comorbidities. Clinical, functional, and laboratory data from 13 patients were evaluated at 16, 32, and 54 weeks after starting medication. Such data were correlated with asthma control outcomes, measured by the Asthma Control Test (ACT) and by pulmonary function, analyzing forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), measured by spirometry and the number of exacerbations. The average age was 50.6 years (ranging from 31 to 64 years), 12 individuals were female, 1 male, there were no active smokers, and seven were obese. In eight of the subjects, symptoms had already started. ACT averaged 9.4 points at the initial or baseline assessment, increasing to 17 points after 54 weeks, and FEV1 averaged 1.50 liters at initial or baseline assessment and 1.90 liters after 54 weeks. In both cases data showed a significant variation, both from a statistical point of view (p = 0.04 for ACT and p = 0.02 for FEV1) and from a clinical point of view (increase of more than three points in ACT and more than 100 ml on FEV1). It was not possible to assess the number of exacerbations. The study is in agreement with previous findings in the literature regarding the results of the use of omalizumab in patients with severe uncontrolled allergic asthma. Asma grave é uma síndrome complexa e um importante problema de saúde global que necessita de uma abordagem terapêutica integrada. Tendo isso em vista, o objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar clínica e funcionalmente os pacientes adultos com asma alérgica grave não controlada, atendidos no serviço de pneumologia do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria (HUSM), da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), em uso de omalizumabe. Trata-se de um estudo retrospectivo, transversal e descritivo, com dados obtidos por meio da análise dos prontuários médicos. A amostra foi obtida do banco de dados do serviço de pneumologia do HUSM/UFSM. Foram incluídos no estudo os pacientes que utilizavam omalizumabe, um anticorpo monoclonal humanizado anti-IgE, indicado em pacientes com asma alérgica grave não controlada, após revisão sistematizada da aderência ao tratamento, da técnica inalatória correta das medicações, do controle ambiental e do tratamento das comorbidades. Foram avaliados os dados clínicos, funcionais e laboratoriais de 13 pacientes por 16, 32 e 54 semanas após o início da medicação. Tais dados foram correlacionados com os desfechos de controle da asma, medido pelo Asthma Control Test (ACT) e pela função pulmonar, analisando-se o volume expiratório forçado no primeiro segundo (VEF1), medido pela espirometria e pelo número de exacerbações. A idade foi, em média, 50,6 anos (com variação de 31 a 64 anos), 12 indivíduos eram do sexo feminino, 1 do sexo masculino, nenhum era fumante ativo e sete eram obesos. Em oito dos indivíduos, os sintomas haviam iniciado. O ACT foi, em média, 9,4 pontos na avaliação basal ou inicial, aumentando para 17 pontos após 54 semanas, e o VEF1 foi, em média, 1,50 litros na avaliação inicial ou basal e 1,90 litros após 54 semanas. Ambos os dados apresentaram variação significativa, tanto do ponto de vista estatístico (p = 0,04 para o ACT e p = 0,02 para o VEF1), quanto do ponto de vista clínico (aumento de mais de três pontos no ACT e mais de 100 ml no VEF1). Não foi possível avaliar o número de exacerbações. O estudo está de acordo com os achados prévios na literatura sobre os resultados do uso de omalizumabe nos pacientes com asma alérgica grave não controlada.

Introduction: Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) in newborns (NB) is caused by alveolar surfactant deficiency, which makes gas exchange in the lungs difficult, leading to respiratory distress (RD). The stable microbubble test (TME) is a diagnostic method of the disease, which quantifies the activity and presence of surfactant in the lung, helping the early administration of the surfactant. Objective: To analyze the importance of TME in the early diagnosis of RDS in newborns with gestational age between 32 and 37 weeks with respiratory distress. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, prospective study. It consisted of newborns with gestational age between 32 and 37 weeks, with and without SDR. The collection took place at the University Hospital of Santa Maria - HUSM, Between March 2018 and February 2020 Results: The groups of patients with and without respiratory distress were compared in relation to the number of stable microbubbles. Among the NB with RD, 6 (50%) had between 15 and 50 mbe/mm² and 6 (50%) > 50 mbe/mm². In patients without RD, 2 (18%) newborns had between 15 and 50 mbe/mm², while 9 (82%) had > 50 mbe/mm², with no significant difference. Mothers of newborns with RD received prepartum corticotherapy, a protective factor for the development of SDRRN, not requiring the use of exogenous surfactant. Conclusion: using TME to aid in the diagnosis of SDRRN was a good method, as no NB required exogenous surfactant, and there were no NB with < 15 mbe/mm² in this small group of patients. Certainly, an amount greater than 15 mbe/mm² in NBs with respiratory distress indicates non-moderate or severe RDS, which does not require exogenous surfactant. Introdução: A Síndrome do desconforto respiratório (SDR) do recém-nascido (RN) tem como etiologia a deficiência de surfactante alveolar, dificultando as trocas gasosas do pulmão, desenvolvendo desconforto respiratório (DR). O teste das microbolhas estáveis (TME) é um método diagnóstico da doença, que quantifica a atividade e a presença de surfactante no pulmão, auxiliando a administração precoce do surfactante. Objetivo: Analisar a importância do TME no diagnóstico precoce da SDR em recém-nascidos com idade gestacional entre 32 e 37 semanas com desconforto respiratório. Metodologia: Realizado um estudo observacional, descritivo, prospectivo. A coleta ocorreu no Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria (HUSM), entre março de 2018 e fevereiro de 2020. Resultados: Foram comparados os grupos dos pacientes com e sem desconforto respiratório em relação ao número de microbolhas estáveis. Dentre os RN com DR, 6 (50%) apresentaram entre 15 e 50 mbe/mm² e 6 (50%) > 50 mbe/mm². Já nos pacientes sem DR, 2 (18%) recém-nascidos apresentaram entre 15 e 50 mbe/mm², enquanto 9 (82%) apresentaram > 50 mbe/mm², sem diferença ou associação significativa. As mães dos RN com DR receberam corticoterapia pré-pacto, fator protetor ao desenvolvimento da SDR, não necessitando utilização do surfactante exógeno. Conclusão: utilizar o TME para auxílio diagnóstico da SDR foi um bom método, pois nenhum RN necessitou surfactante exógeno, não havendo RN com < 15 mbe/mm² nesse grupo de pacientes. Certamente, a quantidade maior que 15 mbe/mm² nos RN com desconforto respiratório acusa SDR não moderada ou grave, a qual não precisa de surfactante exógeno.

During the gestational period, parents project images, dreams and expectations about the child to be born. When a premature birth occurs and/or with other complications, the idealized figure of the "perfect newborn” (NB) is abandoned and parents need to face a new reality. Risky newborns commonly require hospitalization in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which is extremely distressing and stressful for the mother, father and baby triad, because the rituals that should take place at the beginning of the child's life are broken. It is noteworthy that, from the hospitalization of a baby in NICU, the parents experience feelings of frustration, guilt, fear, in the face of the unknown and uncertainties regarding the child’s recovery. Therefore, the driving question of this study was: what are the factors associated with parental stress in a neonatal intensive care unit? This is a cross-sectional research, with a quantitative approach, the population consisted of fathers and mothers of newborns hospitalized in neonatal intensive care unit. The data collection occurred in two philanthropic hospitals in the south of the country. The questionnaires used were Parental Stress Scale: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (PSS: NICU) and Perception of Family Centered Care – Parents Brazilian version (PCCF-P Brazilian version), both validated and translated into Brazilian Portuguese, in addition to an instrument for participants’ characterization, obstetric and newborns’ data, produced by the authors. The qualitative variables were presented by absolute and relative frequencies. Simple crosses of qualitative variables were performed and, to verify the association between them, the "Odds Ratio" (OR) measure and its confidence interval were used. The analysis was performed in statistica software 9.1, and the findings with p value ≤ 0.05 being considered as significant. The quantitative variables were presented by mean (± standard deviation), median, minimum and maximum. A total of 129 volunteers participated and it was found that 79.8% of them had parental stress. Through the description of the PSS: NICU instrument, a lower mean stress was observed in the domain "Sounds and images", followed by "Appearance and behavior of the baby" and, with higher score, the category "Changes in the role of father/mother". There was a significant association between ‘participants’ gender’ and ‘newborns’ clinical complications during the hospitalization period in the NICU with parental stress. A statistically significant difference was observed between the "stress” and "stress-free" groups in the variable "length of hospital stay until the moment of data collection", in the domains "respect", "collaboration" and in the total sum of the PCCF-P scale. Therefore, it is concluded that there is relevance in deepening the knowledge about the factors associated with parental stress in a neonatal intensive care unit, in order to implement strategies with the objective of minimizing these aggravating factors and improving the emotional health of parents, the relationship of parents with the medical team and with their baby and, as a result, improving the child’s development. Durante o período gestacional, os pais projetam imagens, sonhos e expectativas a respeito do filho que irá nascer. Quando ocorre um nascimento prematuro e/ou com outras complicações, a figura idealizada do “recém-nascido (RN) perfeito” é abandonada e os pais precisam enfrentar uma nova realidade. RNs de risco comumente necessitam de internação em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal (UTIN), o que é extremamente angustiante e estressante para a tríade mãe, pai e bebê, pois os rituais que deveriam acontecer no início da vida do neonato são quebrados. Destaca-se que, a partir da internação de um filho em uma UTIN, surgem sentimentos de frustração, culpa, temores frente ao desconhecido e às incertezas quanto à recuperação do bebê. Para tanto, teve-se por questão norteadora do estudo: quais os fatores associados ao estresse parental em unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal? Esta é uma pesquisa transversal, de abordagem quantitativa, constituída por uma população de pais e mães de recém-nascidos internados em unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal. A coleta de dados ocorreu em dois hospitais filantrópicos do sul do país. Os questionários utilizados foram Parental Stress Scale: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (PSS: NICU) e Percepção do Cuidado Centrado na Família – Pais versão brasileira (PCCF-P versão brasileira), ambos validados e traduzidos para a língua portuguesa do Brasil, além de instrumento de caracterização dos participantes, de dados obstétricos e dos recém-nascidos, produzido pelos autores. As variáveis qualitativas foram apresentadas pelas frequências absoluta e relativa. Realizaram-se cruzamentos simples das variáveis qualitativas e, para verificar a associação entre elas, foi utilizada a medida “Odds Ratio” (OR) e seu intervalo de confiança. A análise foi realizada no software Statistica 9.1, sendo considerados de significância achados com p valor ≤ 0,05. As variáveis quantitativas foram apresentadas por média (± desvio-padrão), mediana, mínimo e máximo. Participaram 129 voluntários e constatou-se que 79,8% deles apresentaram estresse parental. Por meio da descrição do instrumento PSS: NICU, observou-se menor média de estresse no domínio “Sons e imagens”, seguido de “Aparência e comportamento do bebê” e, com maior pontuação, a categoria “Alteração no papel de pai/mãe”. Houve associação significativa entre gênero dos participantes e intercorrências clínicas dos recém-nascidos durante o período de internação na UTIN com estresse parental. Observou-se diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os grupos “com estresse” e “sem estresse” na variável “tempo de internação até o momento da coleta de dados”, nos domínios “respeito”, “colaboração” e na soma total da escala PCCF-P. Conclui-se, portanto, que há relevância em se aprofundar o conhecimento acerca dos fatores associados ao estresse parental em unidade de terapia intensiva neonatal, a fim de que sejam implementadas estratégias com o objetivo de minimizar esses agravantes e melhorar a saúde emocional dos pais, a relação dos pais com a equipe e com seu bebê e, por consequência, o desenvolvimento infantil.

Despite improvements in the healthcare system, cardiovascular diseases are still the leading cause of death in the adult population. For every ten deaths in this population, three are related to cardiovascular disease, and ischemic heart disease or coronary artery disease (CAD), is responsible for most of these deaths. Treatment of CAD has advanced with the development of new medications and the advent of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in the 1960s. These technologies provided more remarkable survival and quality of life for many patients. However, heart surgery is not without risk. Among its complications is the stroke, a rare complication (1- 6% of cases) but feared since it causes significant morbimortality and high hospital and social costs. This study aimed to evaluate predictors of postoperative stroke in patients undergoing cardiac surgery at the University Hospital of Santa Maria (HUSM). To this end, a retrospective cohort study was carried out, which included an analysis of 678 patients ≥ 18 years old who underwent valve replacement surgery and/or coronary artery bypass grafting from July 1, 2011, to December 31, 2018. In addition, demographic data, exams, data and clinical information from the postoperative period were collected. The incidence of stroke in the sample was 3.5% (n=24), with most events being ischemic (n=23) and diagnosed within the first 72 postoperative hours (n=21). After univariate and multivariate analysis, the following risk factors related to postoperative stroke were identified: previous stroke/TIA (RR=2.7 - 95% CI 1.108 -6.559 - p < 0.029), carotid disease (RR=4.0 – 95% CI 1.429-11.440 – p < 0.008), previous atrial fibrillation (RR=3.1 – 95% CI - 1.209-7.935 – p < 0.019) and postoperative platelets ≥ 230 thousand (RR=2.5 – 95% CI - 1.059 -5.882 - p < 0.037). Hospital mortality was 8.0% (N=54), with 20.8% in patients who had a stroke in the postoperative period. The incidence of stroke found in the sample was higher than that described in the world literature, but similar to the national series and the individuals who presented this complication had higher mortality. This study also reinforces classic risk factors for postoperative stroke in cardiac surgery. Apesar de avanços no sistema de saúde, as doenças cardiovasculares (DCVs) seguem sendo a principal causa de óbito em adultos no mundo. De cada dez mortes nessa população, três se devem a uma DCV e a doença isquêmica do coração ou doença arterial coronariana (DAC) é responsável pela maioria desses óbitos de causa cardiovascular. O tratamento da DAC avançou com o desenvolvimento de novas medicações e com o advento da cirurgia de revascularização miocárdica (CRM) na década de 60. Essas tecnologias propiciaram maior sobrevida e qualidade de vida aos pacientes. Porém, a cirurgia cardíaca não é isenta de riscos. Dentre suas complicações está o acidente vascular encefálico (AVE), uma complicação rara (1 a 6% dos casos), mas que acarreta expressiva morbimortalidade e altos custos hospitalares e sociais. Esse estudo objetivou avaliar preditores de AVE pós-operatório em pacientes submetidos à cirurgia cardíaca no Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria (HUSM). Para esse fim, foi realizado um estudo de coorte retrospectivo, que incluiu 678 pacientes ≥ 18 anos submetidos à cirurgia de troca valvar e/ou CRM no período de julho de 2011 a dezembro de 2018. Além disso, foram coletados dados demográficos, exames, dados e informações clínicas do pós-operatório. A incidência de AVE na amostra foi de 3,5% (n=24), sendo a maioria dos eventos isquêmicos (n=23) e diagnosticados nas primeiras 72 horas de pós-operatório (n=21). Após análise univariada e multivariada, foram identificados os seguintes fatores de risco relacionados ao AVC pós-operatório: AVE/AIT prévio (RR=2,7 – 95% IC 1,108 -6,559 – p < 0,029), doença carotídea (RR=4,0 – 95% IC 1,429-11,440 – p < 0,008), fibrilação atrial prévia (RR=3,1 – IC 95% - 1,209-7,935 – p < 0,019) e plaquetas pós-operatórias > 230 mil (RR=2,5 – 95% IC – 1,059 -5,882 – p < 0,037). A mortalidade hospitalar foi de 8,0% (N=54), sendo de 20,8% entre os pacientes que cursaram com AVE no pós-operatório. A incidência de AVE encontrada na amostra foi maior que a descrita na literatura internacional, mas similiar à casuística nacional e os indivíduos que apresentaram essa complicação apresentaram maior mortalidade. Esse estudo também reforça os fatores de risco clássicos para AVE no pós-operatório de cirurgia cardíaca.

Electroconvulsive therapy is the most consolidated, studied, and safe semi-invasive neuromod- ulation procedure in psychiatry. The safety of the procedure with technological advances pro- vides comfort for the patient with minimal side effects. It is indicated for depression, mania, schizophrenia, catatonia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, status epilepticus and Parkinson's disease. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of electroconvulsive therapy on the psychiatric admission rate at the University Hospital of Santa Maria, in addition to epi- demiologically characterizing this sample and determining the safety of the procedure. For this, a mirror-image study was carried out with psychiatric patients who underwent electroconvul- sive therapy from January 2018 to December 2018 (16 patients) comparing the psychiatric hos- pitalizations of these patients 2 years before and 2 years after the procedure. An epidemiological characterization of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy from January 2018 to De- cember 2020 was also carried out, accounting for a total of 48 patients. There was a predomi- nance of men (62.5%), diagnoses of schizophrenia (33%) and bipolar disorder (33%). There was a balanced distribution between the positions of the electrodes between bitemporal (52%) and bifrontal (48%). Regarding the wavelength, the highest frequency was 1.0 (60%) compared to 0.5 (40%). It was also noted that patients with the bifrontal position of the electrodes had a higher frequency of wavelength of 0.5, while patients with a bitemporal position had a higher frequency of wavelength 1.0 (p

Chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading causes of mortality in Brazil and worldwide, among which circulatory system diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, Diabetes Mellitus (DM), and cancer stand out. NCDs are associated with comorbidities, high rates of hospital admissions and mortality, especially in the female population, where there is a higher prevalence. Therefore, this research aims to characterize the hospitalizations for NCDs in adult women living in the municipalities of the 4th Coordenadoria Regional de Saúde of RS. This is a quantitative cross-sectional study, based on data collected from the Departamento de Informatica do SUS (DataSUS), on hospital admissions of adult women (19 - 59 years) in the period from January 2015 to December 2020. During the study period, 8,486 hospitalizations of women for NCDs were recorded in the 4th CRS/RS. Most occurred as emergencies (55.1%) with higher hospitalization rates for neoplasms (4945.6%) and white women (89.8%). In relation to deaths, 55.9% were due to neoplasms, 29.9% to circulatory system diseases, 12.3% to chronic respiratory diseases and 1.9% to Diabetes Mellitus, with no significant association between race and death. There was a significant association (p = 0.000) between deaths and character of hospitalization (emergency and elective), and between deaths and bed specialty (p = 0.000). The number of deaths increased significantly (p=0.029) over the period studied, from 14.6% in 2015 to 17.4% in 2020. The results of this study reveal the need for public health actions aimed at prevention and special care for the population affected by NCDs, especially adult women diagnosed with neoplasms and circulatory system diseases. As doenças crônicas não transmissíveis (DCNT) constituem as principais causas de mortalidade no Brasil e no mundo, as quais destacam-se as doenças do aparelho circulatório, as doenças respiratórias crônicas, o diabetes mellitus (DM) e o câncer. As DCNT estão associadas com comorbidades, com altas taxas de internações hospitalares e de mortalidade, sobretudo na população feminina, na qual há maior prevalência. Portanto, esta pesquisa tem por objetivo caracterizar as internações hospitalares por DCNT em mulheres adultas residentes nos municípios da 4ª Coordenadoria Regional de Saúde do RS (CRS/RS). Trata-se de um estudo transversal quantitativo, com base de dados coletados no Departamento de Informática do SUS (DataSUS), sobre internações hospitalares de mulheres adultas (19 - 59 anos) no período de janeiro de 2015 a dezembro de 2020. No período do estudo, foram registradas 8.486 internações de mulheres por alguma DCNT na 4ª CRS/RS. A maioria ocorreu em caráter de urgência (55,1%) com maior taxa de internação para neoplasias (45,6%) e mulheres brancas (89,8%). Em relação aos óbitos, verificou-se 55,9% para neoplasias, 29,9% para doenças do aparelho circulatório, 12,3% por doenças respiratórias crônicas e 1,9% por Diabetes Mellitus, não havendo associação significativa entre raça e óbito. Houve associação significativa (p = 0,000) entre óbitos e caráter de internação (urgência e eletivo), e entre óbitos e a especialidade do leito (p=0,000). O número de óbitos aumentou significativamente (p=0,029) no período estudado, passando de 14,6% em 2015 para 17,4% em 2020. Os resultados deste estudo revelam a necessidade de ações em saúde pública, visando a prevenção e os cuidados especiais para a população acometida pelas DCNT, especialmente as mulheres adultas com diagnóstico de neoplasias e doenças do aparelho circulatório.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with a steadily rising prevalence in recent years. Immunization is an important health protection strategy in these patients. Individuals with this disease have a higher risk of fungal, viral and bacterial infections when compared to the general population. Immunization is an important health protection strategy in these patients. It is recommended that patients with diabetes mellitus have updated vaccines for influenza, pneumonia, hepatitis B and tetanus, which in Brazil are made available by the Unified Health System. This study aims to evaluate whether there is an increase in vaccination rates in patients with DM who have received guidance to update their vaccination schedules for the four vaccines mentioned above. It consisted of a randomized controlled trial between December 2018 and November 2020. The sample consisted of 228 patients from the Endocrinology outpatient clinic of the University Hospital of Santa Maria. Of these, 205 were randomized into an intervention group (n=102) and control group (n=103) and after the losses, 68 patients were analyzed in the intervention group and 71 in the control group. The intervention consisted of a telephone call guiding updating of the vaccination schedule for the evaluated diseases. It was expected to find a positive relationship between orientation and increased vaccination rate in this study. In the intervention group, there was a significant increase in the proportion of people vaccinated for the four diseases. 79.4% of the intervention group was vaccinated for influenza, and after the intervention, the number rose to 89.7% (p=0.016); 29.4% of the intervention group was vaccinated for hepatitis B, and after the intervention, the number rose to 48.5% (p=0.002); 51.5% of the intervention group was vaccinated for tetanus, and after the intervention, the number rose to 72.1% (p=0.007); 22.1% of the intervention group was vaccinated for pneumonia, and after the intervention, the number rose to 29.4% (p=0.049). In the control group, there was no significant increase in the proportion vaccinated for either disease. O diabetes mellitus é uma doença crônica com prevalência em ascensão constante nos últimos anos. Indivíduos portadores dessa doença apresentam maior risco de infecções fúngicas, virais e bacterianas quando comparados com a população em geral. A imunização é uma importante estratégia de proteção da saúde nesses pacientes. É recomendado que os pacientes com diabetes mellitus tenham atualizadas as vacinas para influenza, pneumonia, hepatite B e tétano, que, no Brasil, são disponibilizadas pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar se há aumento das taxas de vacinação nos pacientes portadores de DM que receberam orientação para atualizarem seus calendários vacinais para as quatro vacinas supracitadas. Consistiu em um ensaio clínico randomizado controlado entre dezembro de 2018 e novembro de 2020. A amostra foi composta por 228 pacientes do ambulatório de Endocrinologia do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria. Desses, 205 foram randomizados em grupo intervenção (n= 102) e grupo controle (n=103) e, após as perdas, foram analisados 68 pacientes no grupo intervenção e 71 no grupo controle. A intervenção consistiu em ligação telefônica orientando atualização do calendário vacinal para as quatro doenças avaliadas. Neste estudo, esperava-se encontrar relação positiva entre orientação e aumento da taxa de vacinação. No grupo intervenção houve aumento significativo na proporção de vacinados para as quatro doenças: 79,4% do grupo intervenção era vacinado para influenza e, após a intervenção, o número subiu para 89,7% (p=0,016); 29,4% do grupo intervenção era vacinado para hepatite B e, após a intervenção, o número subiu para 48,5% (p=0,002); 51,5% do grupo intervenção era vacinado para o tétano e, após a intervenção, o número subiu para 72,1% (p=0,007); 22,1% do grupo intervenção era vacinado para pneumonia e, após a intervenção, o número subiu para 29,4% (p=0,049). No grupo controle, não houve aumento significativo na proporção de vacinados para nenhuma das doenças.

The present dissertation comprises reports of two scientific studies with the main theme of acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The first was a cohort study that aimed to evaluate the prevalence of reperfusion therapy (RT), the clinical variables associated with non-RT, and the in-hospital outcomes of individuals with STEMI treated at a university hospital in southern Brazil. Data were collected through interviews during hospitalization between September, 2016 and February, 2020. The individuals were dichotomized in groups according to the reperfusion strategy (with and without RT). The univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to determine predictors of non-RT. It was also analyzed the impact of non-RT on in-hospital outcomes, compared to those who underwent RT. The total sample was 268 patients. The rate of non-RT was x (27.6%). Individuals with non-anterior wall STEMI and longer symptom onset had a higher probability of not undergoing RT. The non-RT was also associated with higher mortality and prolonged hospitalization. In conclusion, we observed that a significant percentage of individuals with STEMI did not receive RT, leading to worse outcomes. The second study aimed to evaluate the applicability of using the SAGE score in predicting elevated pulse wave velocity (PWV) (≥ 10m/s) for individuals who have experienced STEMI. A cross-sectional study was performed. The PWV was analyzed an oscillometric technique and to estimate the SAGE score. Data were collected between September, 2019 and February, 2021. Statistical analyses included obtaining the Youden's J statistic and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve to estimate the ideal cutoff SAGE score; binary logistic regression was also used to assess the correlation of SAGE score and PWV. Of the 39 individuals included in this study, 20.5% had a PWV ≥ 10 m/s. The SAGE scores distinguished individuals with high PWV with the ideal cutoff score estimated as ≥ 8 points. It is concluded the SAGE score showed adequate applicability in the identification of individuals with elevated PWV after STEMI. A presente dissertação é composta por dois artigos científicos com tema principal infarto agudo do miocárdio com supradesnível do segmento ST (IAMCSST). O primeiro artigo é um estudo de coorte prospectivo que teve como objetivo avaliar a prevalência de terapia de reperfusão (TR), as variáveis clínicas associadas a não realização de TR e os desfechos intra-hospitalares de indivíduos com IAMCSST atendidos em um hospital universitário do sul do Brasil. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas durante a internação hospitalar entre setembro de 2016 e fevereiro de 2020. Na análise estatística dicotomizou-se os indivíduos conforme estratégia de reperfusão (com e sem TR), realizando-se análise uni e multivariada para determinar fatores preditores da não realização de TR, e modelo estatístico para determinar o impacto da não realização de TR nos desfechos intra-hospitalares. Foram incluídos 268 indivíduos, sendo que 27,6% não foram submetidos à TR. Os indivíduos com IAMCSST de parede não-anterior e delta T mais longo tiveram maior probabilidade de não receberem TR. A não realização de TR foi associada à maior mortalidade e internação prolongada. Em conclusão, observamos que uma parcela significativa dos indivíduos com IAMCSST atendidos em um hospital universitário não receberam TR e apresentaram piores desfechos. O segundo artigo teve como objetivo a avaliação da aplicabilidade do escore SAGE em predizer velocidade de onda de pulso (VOP) elevada (≥ 10m/s) em indivíduos após IAMCSST. Foi realizado estudo transversal com aferição da VOP por técnica oscilométrica e estimação do escore SAGE. Os dados foram coletados entre setembro de 2019 e fevereiro de 2021. A análise estatística incluiu estatística J de Youden e análises de curva ROC para estimar ponto de corte ideal do escore SAGE, e regressão logística binaria para avaliar a associação do escore SAGE e a VOP. Foram incluídos 39 indivíduos, dos quais 20,5% apresentaram VOP ≥ 10 m/s. O escore SAGE apresentou capacidade para distinguir indivíduos com VOP elevada, sendo o ponto de corte ideal estimado em ≥ 8 pontos. O desempenho do escore SAGE na predição de VOP elevada (≥10m/s) nesses pacientes foi semelhante à população de hipertensos.

The occupational therapist is the professional who holds expertise in the fields of health, education, culture, and social assistance. Research on the involvement of this professional in health actions and services is essential to understand their participation in the Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). This study aims to identify the insertion of these professionals in the health care network of the SUS, in the health macro-regions of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, between the years 2015 and 2020. For this, a cross-sectional and descriptive research was carried out, with data obtained from the database of the Departmento de Informatica do SUS (DATASUS), about the vacancies filled by professionals working in the SUS. It was possible to analyze the region of each Coordenadoria Regional de Saúde (CRS) of the state, verify the establishments that are affiliated to the SUS, and examine the characteristics of the vacancies. It was verified that the 2nd CRS has the largest number of vacancies, and the 18th CRS has the highest rate of vacancies, 8.8 per 1000 inhabitants. The establishments that offer vacancies, in the majority, were maintained (54.0%) of municipal management (74.7%), without teaching activity (76.5%) and with spontaneous and referenced demand (62.8%). As for the professionals who filled the vacancies, they predominantly worked 3 shifts (66.1%), under contract (74.1%), were not self-employed (86.7%), were legal entity (98.8%) and SUS professionals (89.2%). An increase in the offer of vacancies was observed during the study period, reaching the highest number (700) in 2020. In this study, it was possible to identify the growth of the profession, presenting, on a larger scale, in services that are located in the capital, in the beach region or close to the training centers of these professionals. The results of this research collaborate with the qualification of information about the occupational therapist in the state and provides information subsidies that can guide the implementation of public policies for the insertion and training of the occupational therapist for work in Rio Grande do Sul. O terapeuta ocupacional é o profissional que detém sua expertise nos campos da saúde, da educação, da cultura e da assistência social. Pesquisar sobre o envolvimento desse profissional nas ações e nos serviços de saúde é fundamental para a compreensão da sua participação no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Este trabalho tem como objetivo identificar a inserção desses profissionais na rede de atenção à saúde do SUS, nas macrorregiões de saúde do estado do Rio Grande do Sul, entre os anos de 2015 a 2020. Para isso, foi realizada uma pesquisa transversal e descritiva, com dados obtidos na base de dados do Departamento de Informática do SUS (DATASUS), sobre as vagas preenchidas pelos profissionais atuantes no SUS. Foi possível analisar as Coordenadorias Regionais de Saúde (CRS) do estado verificar as características dos estabelecimentos que são conveniados ao SUS e examinar as características das vagas. Verificou-se, que a 2ª CRS apresenta o maior número de vagas, sendo que a 18ª CRS é a que possui a maior taxa de vagas, 8,8 por 1000 habitantes. Os estabelecimentos que ofertam vagas, na maioria, eram mantidos (54,0%) de gestão municipal (74,7%), sem atividade de ensino (76,5%) e com demanda espontânea e referenciada (62,8%). Quanto aos profissionais que preencheram as vagas, apresentaram predominância de trabalharem 3 turnos (66,1%), com contrato (74,1%), não serem autônimos (86,7%), sendo pessoa jurídica (98,8%) e profissionais SUS (89,2%). Foi observado, no período do estudo, um aumento na oferta de vagas, atingindo o maior número (700), em 2020. Neste estudo, foi possível identificar o crescimento da profissão, apresentando, em maior escala, em serviços que estão localizados na capital, na região de praias ou próximos aos polos de formação destes profissionais. Os resultados desta pesquisa colaboram com a qualificação das informações sobre o terapeuta ocupacional no estado e fornece subsídios de informações que podem nortear a implementação de políticas públicas de inserção e de formação do terapeuta ocupacional para o trabalho no Rio Grande do Sul.

Gestational Toxoplasmosis is an infectious disease caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, often asymptomatic, however there can be serious consequences due to the possibility of fetal damage. In 2018, the city of Santa Maria - RS suffered an outbreak of toxoplasmosis, considered in relative numbers, the largest outbreak of toxoplasmosis in the world, affecting the general population of the municipality, among them pregnant women. As a result of this study, the objective of this study is to evaluate prenatal care and delivery of pregnant women with a diagnosis of gestational toxoplasmosis and to define neonatal outcomes in patients treated at the obstetrics service of the University Hospital of Santa Maria (HUSM) – RS. This is a cross-sectional quantitative study, with a retrospective approach, from January 2017 to October 2019. A descriptive analysis was performed and the variables when quantitative were expressed using mean and standard deviation and the qualitative variables were expressed by absolute frequency (n) and relative frequency (%). The study comparing the ethical precepts contained in CNS Resolution No.466/2012 and was approved by the Ethics Committee of UFSM (opinion no. 2,814,895 and CAAE 1 59366116.5.0000.5346). The study population consisted of 108 pregnant women with serological diagnosis of gestational toxoplasmosis. Regarding the origin of these patients, all of them lived in an urban perimeter and the vast majority came from the periphery, of which it was observed that 52 (54.2%) came from the west part of the city. No cases were recorded in the rural area. Most infections were primary (94.4%) and there were 6 (5.5%) cases of reinfection. On symptomatology, most of the infected had symptomatology (54.7%) and the most frequent symptom was lymphadenomegaly. Forty-four amniocentesis were performed, of which 2 (4.5%) patients obtained PCR results from positive amniotic fluid, determining fetal infection. Among the positive ones, all had unfavorable gestational outcome, with fetal death and neonatal death. Regarding fetal outcomes, 90 (83.3%) cases were live newborns, 6 (5.5%) had abortion and 2 (2.5%) cases of fetal death. On the diagnosis of congenital toxoplasmosis, the majority (53%) obtained a negative result for congenital toxoplasmosis, while 25.3% with a positive result. Most pregnant women received treatment during pregnancy. On placental PCR, 24 analyses were performed, among which 2 with positive results. The fetal outcome in one of them was unfavorable with fetal death and the other with favorable outcome of live newborn. A Toxoplasmose gestacional é uma doença infecciosa causada pelo protozoário Toxoplasma gondii, muitas vezes assintomática, porém pode ter consequências graves devido à possibilidade de danos fetais. Em 2018, a cidade de Santa Maria- RS sofreu um surto de toxoplasmose, considerado em números relativos, o maior surto de toxoplasmose do mundo, acometendo a população geral do município, e dentre elas as gestantes. Decorrente a isso o objetivo deste trabalho consiste na avaliação do acompanhamento de pré-natal e parto de gestantes com diagnóstico de toxoplasmose gestacional e definição dos desfechos neonatais em pacientes atendidos no serviço de obstetrícia do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria (HUSM) – RS.Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo transversal, com abordagem retrospectiva, no período de janeiro de 2017 até outubro de 2019. Realizou-se uma análise descritiva e as variáveis quando quantitativas, foram expressas usando média e desvio padrão e as variáveis qualitativas foram expressas por meio frequência absoluta (n) e frequência relativa (%). O estudo respeitou os preceitos éticos contidos na Resolução CNS n.466/2012 e foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética da UFSM (parecer nº 2.814.895 e CAAE 1 59366116.5.0000.5346). A população deste estudo foi composta por 108 gestantes com diagnóstico sorológico de toxoplasmose gestacional. Com relação a procedência destas pacientes, todas elas residiam em perímetro urbano sendo a grande maioria proveniente da periferia, das quais observou-se que 52 (54,2%) eram oriundas da zona oeste da cidade. Nenhum caso foi registrado na zona rural. A maioria das infecções foram primárias (94,4%) e houve 6(5,5%) casos de reinfecção. Sobre a sintomatologia, a maior parte das infectadas tiveram sintomatologia (54,7%) e o sintoma mais frequente foi a linfoadenomegalia. Foram realizadas 44 amniocenteses, destas, 2(4,5%) pacientes obtiveram resultado do PCR do líquido amniótico positivo, determinando infecção fetal. Dentre as positivas, todas tiveram desfecho gestacional desfavorável, com óbito fetal e óbito neonatal. Referente aos desfechos fetais, 90(83,3%) casos foram de recém-nascido vivo, 6(5,5%) casos de abortamento e 2(2,5%) casos de óbito fetal. Sobre o diagnóstico de toxoplasmose congênita, a maoria (53%) obtiveram resultado negativo para toxoplasmose congênita, enquanto 25,3% com resultado positivo. Grande parte das gestantes receberam tratamento durante a gestação. Sobre PCR da placenta, foram realizadas 24 análises, dentre estas, 2 com resultado positivo. O desfecho fetal em uma deles foi desfavorável com óbito fetal e ou outra com desfecho favorável de recém-nascido vivo.

In parallel with the increase in aging, the world also faces a growing increase in obesity in all age groups, including among the elderly. This is a worrisome fact, since obesity alone is an independent risk factor for other associated comorbidities and metabolic syndrome (MS). It is a chronic condition of multifactorial etiology and its treatment involves several approaches (nutritional, use of medications and practice of physical exercises). However, several patients do not respond to these therapeutic approaches, requiring more invasive interventions. In this sense, bariatric surgeries have been assuming an important role as the last therapeutic strategy, demonstrating good control of comorbidities in conjunction with weight loss. The aim of this study was to identify and analyze metabolic alterations in elderly people who underwent bariatric surgery within one year. This is a retrospective study with a quantitative approach. The sample was characterized by patients aged 60 years or older, submitted to bariatric surgery in a private clinic in southern Brazil, from 2015 to 2020, according to the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The selection of participants and data collection took place through consultation in the clinic database. For data extraction, a form was used with the following variables: sociodemographic, anthropometric data, personal health data and clinical data. Anthropometric data and laboratory results were collected in three stages: pre-surgical, six months and one year after surgery. Data were collected from June to September 2021. The software used for statistical analysis was SPSS version 21.0. To evaluate the behavior of the variables over time and between group, a model of generalized estimation equations was used, complemented by the Least Significant Difference test. For better interpretation of the results in relation to weight loss, we divided the patients into two subgroups: by gender (male and female) and by age group (60 to 65 years and 66 to 71 years). The results showed remission of comorbidities in dyslipidemia, gastroesophageal reflux, sleep apnea and hepatic satosose, and partial control in diabetes (88%), hypertension (92%) and depression (39%). Bmi went from obesity (mean of 42.72kg/m²) to overweight (mean of 27.70kg/m²) in the first year evaluated. There was a reduction in the use of alcohol and tobacco and an improvement in the practice of physical activities, as well as in the number of medications in use; we showed loss of lean mass in the first six months, with stabilization after the first year, with progressive loss of fat mass. Regarding weight loss between age groups, there was no significant difference between them. Bariatric surgery of gastric bypass in Roux-of-Roux via laparoscopic was shown to be effective in the metabolic profile of the elderly population in a short period. Em paralelo ao aumento do envelhecimento, o mundo também enfrenta um crescente aumento da obesidade em todas as faixas etárias, inclusive entre os idosos. Este é um fato preocupante, uma vez que a obesidade, por si só, é um fator de risco independente para outras comorbidades associadas e para a Síndrome metabólica (SM). É uma condição crônica, de etiologia multifatorial e o seu tratamento envolve várias abordagens (nutricional, uso de medicamentos e prática de exercícios físicos). Contudo, diversos pacientes não respondem a estas abordagens terapêuticas, necessitando de intervenções mais invasivas. Neste sentido, as cirurgias bariátricas vêm assumindo um papel importante como última estratégia terapêutica, demonstrando bom controle das comorbidades em conjunto com a perda de peso. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar e analisar as alterações metabólicas em idosos que foram submetidos a cirurgia bariátrica no período de um ano. Trata-se de um estudo retrospectivo com abordagem quantitativa. A amostra foi caracterizada por pacientes com idade igual ou superior a 60 anos, submetidos a cirurgia bariátrica em uma clínica privada no sul do Brasil, no período de 2015 a 2020, conforme os critérios estabelecidos de inclusão e exclusão. A seleção dos participantes e a coleta de dados se deu através de consulta no banco de dados da clínica. Para extração dos dados, foi utilizado um formulário com as variáveis: sociodemográficas, dados antropométricos, dados pessoais de saúde e dados clínicos. Os dados antropométricos e resultados laboratoriais foram coletados em três etapas: pré-cirúrgico, seis meses e um ano após a cirurgia. A coleta de dados foi realizada no período de junho a setembro de 2021. O software utilizado para as análises estatísticas foi o SPSS versão 21.0. Para avaliar o comportamento das variáveis ao longo do tempo e entre grupo foi utilizado modelo de equações de estimativas generalizadas, complementada pelo teste Least Significant Difference. Para melhor interpretação dos resultados em relação à perda de peso, dividimos os pacientes em dois subgrupos: por sexo (masculino e feminino) e por faixa etária (60 a 65 anos e 66 a 71 anos). Os resultados encontrados evidenciaram remissão das comorbidades na dislipidemia, refluxo gastroesofágico, apnéia do sono e esteatose hepática, e, controle parcial no diabetes (88%), hipertensão (92%) e de depressão (39%). O IMC passou de obesidade (média de 42,72kg/m²) para sobrepeso (média de 27,70kg/m²) no primeiro ano avaliado. Houve redução no uso de álcool e tabaco e melhora na prática de atividades físicas, assim como no número de medicamentos em uso; evidenciamos perda de massa magra nos primeiros seis meses, com estabilização após até o primeiro ano, com perda progressiva de massa gorda. Em relação a perda de peso entre os grupos etários, não houve diferença significativa entre eles. A cirurgia bariátrica de bypass gástrico em Y-de-Roux via laparoscópica se mostrou eficaz no perfil metabólico da população idosa em curto período.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a basaloid cell tumor originating from tumor stem cells of the epidermis, accounting for 70-80% of cutaneous neoplasms. It has local invasive behavior and low metastatic risk. The main risk factor is intermittent and intense sun exposure without protection. The diagnosis can be presumed by dermoscopy and should be confirmed with skin biopsy. Several treatments can be used, their indications vary according to the histological subtype. Surgical treatment is the one with the highest cure rates and allows the histological evaluation of the margins. We performed an observational, retrospective, and quantitative study whose objective was to describe the frequency and analyze the association between the epidemiological and histopathological findings of surgically excised BCCs. The study population consisted of patients who underwent surgical excision of lesions diagnosed as BCC at the Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria from January 1st, 2014, to December 31, 2018. Data were divided into two samples consisting of 910 patients and 1458 lesions. To assess the association between the variables, the chi-square test was used. This study was approved by the ethics and research committee of UFSM under number CAAE 30155920.5.0000.5346. In the analysis of patients, there was a predominance of males (55.3%), age group 60-79 years (54.7%), farmers (41.8%) and only one diagnosis of BCC in the last 5 years (67.7 %). There was an association between the farming profession and the male gender, multiple diagnoses of BCCs and more than one BCC excised in the last 5 years. As for the analysis of lesions, there was a predominance of the solid histological subtype (52.2%) and involvement of H zone (48.5%), recurrent lesions corresponded to 3.4%, the presence of perineural and angiolymphatic invasion was present in 0.7% and 0.2%, respectively. As for depth, involvement from the hypodermis occurred in 4.5% and surgical margins were compromised in 6.2%. According to the NCCN criteria, 86.8% of the lesions had a high risk of recurrence. There was an association of compromised margins with L zone, high-risk histological subtype, depth from the hypodermis and diameter greater than 20 mm. There was also an association between depth from the hypodermis and L zone, high-risk histological subtype, ulceration, diameter greater than 20 mm, perineural invasion and angiolymphatic invasion. High-risk histological subtypes were associated with age at diagnosis of 60 years or older, L zone, recurrent lesion, diameter greater than 20 mm, and ulceration. Recurrent lesions were associated with compromised margins. The data presented were similar to the data described in the literature. The large number of cases diagnosed during a 5-year period shows the importance of routine dermatological follow-up in populations with risk factors for the development of cutaneous neoplasms. There were limitations because it was a retrospective study and did not have contact with patients, some data were not correctly filled in the medical records and reports, such as the profession and some histopathological data, the latter leading to the exclusion of some lesions. células-tronco tumorais da epiderme, sendo responsável por 70-80% das neoplasias cutâneas. Diversos tratamentos podem ser utilizados, suas indicações variam conforme o subtipo histológico. O tratamento cirúrgico é o que apresenta as maiores taxas de cura e permite a avaliação histológica das margens. Realizamos um estudo observacional, retrospectivo e quantitativo cujo objetivo foi descrever a frequência e analisar a associação entre os achados epidemiológicos e histopatológicos dos CBCs excisados cirurgicamente. A população estudada era composta por pacientes que realizaram exérese cirúrgica de lesões diagnosticadas como CBC no Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria de 1º de janeiro de 2014 até 31 de dezembro de 2018. Os dados foram divididos em duas amostras compostas por 910 pacientes e 1458 lesões. Para avaliar a associação entre as variáveis foi utilizado o teste qui-quadrado. Este estudo foi aprovado pelo CEP da UFSM sob número CAAE 30155920.5.0000.5346. Na análise dos pacientes, houve predomínio do sexo masculino (55,3%), faixa etária 60-79 anos (54,7%), agricultores (41,8%) e apenas um diagnóstico de CBC em 5 anos (67,7%). Houve associação da profissão agricultor com o sexo masculino, múltiplos diagnósticos de CBCs e mais de um CBC excisado nos últimos 5 anos. Quanto a análise das lesões, houve predomínio do subtipo histológico sólido (52,2%) e acometimento da área H (48,5%), as lesões recorrentes corresponderam a 3,4%, a presença de invasão perineural e angiolinfática esteve presente em 0,7% e 0,2%, respectivamente. Quanto à profundidade, o acometimento a partir da hipoderme ocorreu em 4,5% e houve comprometimento de margens cirúrgicas em 6,2%. Segundo os critérios do NCCN, 86,8% das lesões possuíam alto risco de recorrência. Houve associação de margens comprometidas com topografia L, subtipo histológico de alto risco, profundidade a partir da hipoderme e diâmetro maior que 20mm. Também houve associação entre profundidade a partir da hipoderme com a topografia L, subtipo histológico de alto risco, ulceração, diâmetro maior que 20 mm, invasão perineural e invasão angiolinfática. Os subtipos histológicos de alto risco foram associados à faixa etária de 60 anos ou mais, topografia L, lesão recorrente, diâmetro maior que 20mm e ulceração. As lesões recorrentes foram associadas com margens comprometidas. Houve limitações por tratar-se de um estudo retrospectivo e que não teve contato com os pacientes, alguns dados não estavam preenchidos corretamente nos prontuários e laudos, como foi o caso da profissão e alguns dados histopatológicos, estes últimos levando a exclusão de algumas lesões. Os dados apresentados foram semelhantes aos dados descritos na literatura. O grande número de casos diagnosticados durante o período de 5 anos mostra a importância do acompanhamento dermatológico de rotina em populações com fatores de riscos para o desenvolvimento de neoplasias cutâneas.

The present study aimed to evaluate the religiosity of health professionals who work on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic. The search had a quantitative, descriptive, analytical and transversal approach. The study population consisted of health professionals (nurses, technicians, physiotherapists and doctors) who worked directly on the front line of nursing patients with Covid-19. Data collection was carried out online and through the Google Forms tool using a structured questionnaire containing sociodemographic data, chronic diseases, medications and information about work in the face of Covid-19. To assess religiosity, the Duke Religiosity Scale - DUREL was used. The sample consists of 100 health professionals, with a mean age of 33.3±8.3 years, most of them female (81.0%), with a higher percentage of nursing technicians (41.0%) and nurses (39.0%). Regarding the Duke Religiosity scale DUREL, the subscale corresponding to organizational religiosity computed a median of 4 points, considered low religiosity; the non-organizational religiosity subscale computed 3.5 points, defined as high; and intrinsic religiosity, 6 points, considered high. The results of the study showed that health professionals working on the front lines of Covid-19 had low organizational religiosity (public religious practices), non-organizational religiosity (private religious activities such as prayer) and intrinsic religiosity (religious commitment or religious motivation) high. O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a religiosidade dos profissionais de saúde que atuam na linha de frente da pandemia da Covid-19. A pesquisa teve uma abordagem quantitativa, de caráter descritivo, analítico e transversal. A população do estudo foi constituída por profissionais de saúde (enfermeiros, técnicos de enfermagem, fisioterapeutas e médicos) que atuavam diretamente na linha de frente dos pacientes com Covid-19. A coleta de dados foi realizada on-line e através da ferramenta Google Forms utilizando-se um questionário estruturado contendo dados sociodemográficos, doenças crônicas, medicamentos e informações sobre o trabalho frente à Covid-19. Para avaliar a religiosidade foi utilizada a Escala de Religiosidade da Duke DUREL. A amostra foi composta por 100 profissionais da saúde, com média de idade de 33,3±8,3 anos, a maioria do gênero feminino (81,0%), sendo constituída em maior percentual de técnicos de enfermagem (41,0%) e enfermeiros (39,0%). Em relação à escala de Religiosidade da Duke DUREL, a subescala correspondente à religiosidade organizacional computou a mediana de 4 pontos, considerada baixa religiosidade; a subescala de religiosidade não organizacional, computou 3,5 pontos, definida como alta; e a religiosidade intrínseca, 6 pontos, considerada alta. Os resultados do estudo mostraram que os profissionais de saúde que atuavam na linha de frente da Covid-19 possuíam a religiosidade organizacional (práticas religiosas públicas) baixa, religiosidade não organizacional (atividades religiosas privadas como, por exemplo, a oração) alta e religiosidade intrínseca (compromisso religioso ou motivação religiosa) alta.

Introduction: Population aging is a worldwide phenomenon, which manifests quickly, especially in developing countries such as Brazil. As a result, there is a shortening of the base and an enlargement of the top of the population pyramid - called demographic transition. Linked to this process, there is an increase in the occurrence of non-communicable chronic diseases and a greater chance of hospitalization, which creates limitations and the need for support, especially in the elderly. Social relationships and social support are indicators of social integration, ensuring support in times of crisis or readaptation, contributing to the individual's health. Objective: to evaluate the social support of hospitalized individuals, its relationship with sociodemographic variables and hospital outcomes. Methods: This is a quantitative, descriptive and longitudinal study, where social support was evaluated through the question: “Can the patient count on someone to help or assist him?”, which is included in the Identification Instrument of Complex Patient in Hospitalization. Results: 1421 individuals were included, and it was identified that 93.6% had social support. Elderly and higher-risk individuals had proportional social support. There was no significant association with mortality or length of hospital stay. It was observed that the instrument succinctly assesses social support, therefore needing to consider other sociodemographic variables for a more specific assessment. More studies are needed with a view to identifying social support, so that strategies and interventions capable of expanding health care can be targeted. Introdução: O envelhecimento da população é um fenômeno mundial, que se manifesta de maneira célere, principalmente em países em desenvolvimento como o Brasil. Com isso, há encurtamento da base e o alargamento do topo da pirâmide populacional - denominado transição demográfica. Atrelado a este processo, há aumento da ocorrência de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis e uma maior chance de hospitalização, o que gera limitações e necessidade de apoio, principalmente no idoso. As relações sociais e o apoio social são indicadores de integração social, garantindo suporte em momentos de crise ou readaptação, contribuindo para a saúde do indivíduo. Objetivo: avaliar o apoio social de indivíduos hospitalizados, sua relação com as variáveis sociodemográficas e os desfechos hospitalares. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, descritivo e longitudinal, onde avaliou-se o apoio social por meio da pergunta: “O paciente pode contar com alguém para ajudá-lo ou auxiliá-lo?”, incluída no Instrumento de Identificação de Paciente Complexo em Internação Hospitalar. Resultados: Foram incluídos 1421 indivíduos, sendo identificado que 93,6% contavam com apoio social. Indivíduos idosos e em maior risco tiveram apoio social proporcional. Não houve associação significativa com mortalidade ou tempo de internação. Observou-se que instrumento avalia de forma sucinta o apoio social, necessitando considerar outras variáveis sociodemográficas para uma avaliação mais aprofundada. Mais estudos são necessários com vistas à identificação do apoio social, para que haja direcionamento de estratégias e intervenções capazes de ampliar o cuidado em saúde.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Sarcopenia is the simultaneous loss of muscle mass and strength, it is a multifactorial injury caused by aging, muscle disuse, inadequate nutrition and various diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the consequences of sarcopenia caused in the muscles that are involved in swallowing. The severity of the swallowing disorder, the need for prompt recognition and effective treatment, is a challenge both for the health impact and for the absence of infections and lung penetrations and bronchoaspiration or malnutrition. Objective: To evaluate and synthesize evidence on factors related to oropharyngeal dysphagia in sarcopenia in the elderly. Method: Conduct a systematic literature review of articles published in Cochrane, PubMed and ScienceDirect databases. Studies were selected based on inclusion criteria such as presenting the text available in its entirety without time and language limitations, presenting the approach to oropharyngeal dysphagia and sarcopenia and as exclusion criteria; studies that did not elect the proposal, expert opinions, dissertations, theses, monographs and reviews. The guiding question of the study was; What dysphagia-related factors exist in elderly people with sarcopenia? Nine studies were selected. Results: The main factors related between dysphagia and sarcopenia were the reduction of tongue muscle mass, activity of daily living (ADL) and malnutrition. Conclusion: It was possible to observe among the determining factors the nutritional status, present dependence in activities of daily living, low tongue pressure, reduced orofacial muscle mass and reduced oral intake level. A sarcopenia é a perda simultânea de massa e da força muscular, é uma lesão multifatorial causada pelo envelhecimento, desuso dos músculos, nutrição inadequada e diversas doenças. Portanto é necessário identificar às consequências da sarcopenia causadas nos músculos que estão envolvidos na deglutição. A gravidade do distúrbio da deglutição, a necessidade de reconhecimento imediato e tratamento o efetivo são um desafio tanto para o impacto na saúde, como para a ausência de infecções e penetrações pulmonares e broncoaspiração ou desnutrição. Objetivo: Avaliar e sintetizar evidências sobre os fatores relacionados à disfagia orofaríngea na sarcopenia em idosos. Método: Realizar uma revisão sistemática da literatura de artigos publicados nas bases de dados Cochrane, PubMed e ScienceDirect. Os estudos foram selecionados com base nos critérios de inclusão como apresentar o texto disponível na integra sem limitação de tempo e idioma, apresentar a abordagem de disfagia orofaríngea e sarcopenia e como critérios de exclusão; estudos que não elegeram a proposta, opiniões de especialistas, dissertações, teses, monografias e revisões. A pergunta norteadora do estudo foi; Quais os fatores relacionados à disfagia existentes em idosos com sarcopenia? Selecionaram- se nove estudos Resultados: Apontaram como principais fatores relacionados entre disfagia e sarcopenia, redução da massa muscular da língua, atividade de vida diária (AVD) e desnutrição. Conclusão: Foi possível observar dentre os fatores determinantes o estado nutricional, presente dependência em atividades de vida diária, baixa pressão de língua, reduzida massa muscular orofacial e o nível de ingestão oral reduzido.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Population aging in Brazil causes changes and challenges that the State will have to face, due to the peculiarities of the country. The absence of research on elderly black women made invisible by society makes me rethink and motivates me to empower other researchers on this topic of gender, race and aging, collectively contributing to society. Aging has a direct impact on epidemiological, social, economic, environmental factors and on the living and health conditions of elderly black women. Given the above, this study sought to identify the living and health conditions of black elderly women who seek health care in the city of Santa Maria - RS. The research methodology used was of a quantitative nature, being of the descriptive type, using the following questionnaires: Older Americans Resources and Services, WHOQOL-OLD and the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), as the main instruments for data collection. The research was carried out with 53 black elderly women, who judged their quality of life as fair or good, most of them young, widowed, with low education and retired. This study demonstrated that racial inequalities and institutional racism are barriers to accessing preventive health services for older black women. A structural change in public policies is needed to reduce the alarming trends related to health inequalities through actions on the social determinants of health, with a new vision in public health where policies reach the parts of the population they are intended for with knowledge of their needs and desires. O envelhecimento populacional no Brasil provoca mudanças e desafios que o Estado terá que enfrentar, devido às peculiaridades do país. A ausência de pesquisas sobre as mulheres idosas negras invisibilizadas pela sociedade, me faz repensar e me motiva a empoderar outras pesquisadoras nessa temática gênero, raça e envelhecimento, contribuindo coletivamente para sociedade. O envelhecimento impacta diretamente nos fatores epidemiológicos, sociais, econômicos, ambientais e nas condições de vida e saúde de mulheres negras idosas. Diante do exposto, este estudo buscou identificar as condições de vida e Saúde de idosas negras que buscam atendimento de saúde no município de Santa Maria - RS. A metodologia de pesquisa utilizada foi de natureza quantitativa, sendo do tipo descritiva, utilizando-se dos seguintes questionários: Older Americans Resources and Services, WHOQOL-OLD como instrumentos principais de coleta de dados e o Mini Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM), como instrumentos de exclusão de amostra. A pesquisa foi realizada com 53 idosas negras, que julgaram sua Qualidade de vida como regular ou boa, em sua maioria, jovens, viúvas, com baixa escolaridade e aposentadas. Este estudo demonstrou que as desigualdades raciais e o racismo institucional são barreiras no acesso aos serviços preventivos de saúde para as mulheres negras idosas. É necessária uma mudança estrutural nas políticas públicas para reduzir as tendências alarmantes relacionadas às desigualdades de saúde através de ações sobre os determinantes sociais de saúde, com uma nova visão na saúde pública onde as políticas alcancem as parcelas da população a que se destinam com o conhecimento das necessidades e anseios das mesmas.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Considering the consequences of excessive food consumption of ultra-processed foods, such as the acceleration of obesity and its consequences, it is important to know not only what people eat, but also why, in order to further assist in intervention proposals for coping of the disease. The study aimed to identify the motivations for food choices of adult individuals and possible associations with sociodemographic data and nutritional status. This was a cross-sectional study carried out in two municipalities in the south of Brazil, with participants between 20 and 59 years old. The questionnaire used included sociodemographic questions (age, sex, marital status, education, income), self-reported weight and height, in addition to the instrument to assess motivations divided into 15 subscales, The Eating Motivation Survey (TEMS). A total of 371 individuals participated, in which middle-aged adults ate for preference (p=0.026) and health (p =0.001) and the younger ones for visual attraction (p=0.019). Males (p=0.002) and those with higher incomes (p=0.008) presented traditional eating as their main motivation, and those who had partners for convenience (p=0.042). Those with less education chose food based on social norms (p=0.04), preference (p=0.02) and price (p=0.039). Finally, overweight individuals were not motivated to eat for reasons of need or hunger (p=0.001), health (p=0.02) or natural reasons (p=0.001). It is concluded that there should be a closer look at younger individuals and people with less education, as the reasons indicated (visual attraction and price) are associated with the consumption of more processed foods, in addition to overweight individuals, as it is understood that precisely the reasons they ignore (health, hunger and naturalness of food) are correlated with health approaches evidenced to promote healthier eating behavior for all individuals. Considerando as consequências do consumo alimentar excessivo de alimentos ultraprocessados como o aceleramento da obesidade e suas consequências, torna-se importante conhecer não somente o que as pessoas comem, mas também o porquê, a fim de auxiliar ainda mais nas propostas de intervenção para o enfrentamento da doença. O estudo objetivou identificar as motivações para escolhas alimentares de indivíduos adultos e possíveis associações com dados sociodemográficos e estado nutricional. Tratou-se de um estudo transversal realizado em dois municípios do sul do Brasil, com participantes entre 20 e 59 anos. O questionário utilizado incluiu questões sociodemográficas (idade, sexo, estado civil, escolaridade, renda), peso e estatura autorreferidos, além do instrumento para avaliar as motivações dividido em 15 subescalas, o The Eating Motivation Survey (TEMS). Participaram 371 indivíduos, em que, os adultos de meia-idade comiam por preferência (p=0,026) e saúde (p=0,001) e os mais jovens por atração visual (p=0,019). Os indivíduos do sexo masculino (p=0,002) e com maior renda (p=0,008) apresentaram comer tradicional como principal motivação, e aqueles que possuíam companheiros por conveniência (p=0,042). Aqueles com menor escolaridade escolhiam os alimentos por norma social (p=0,04), preferência (p=0,02) e preço (p=0,039). Por fim, os indivíduos com excesso de peso não apresentaram motivação para comer por questões de necessidade ou fome (p=0,001), saúde (p=0,02) e tampouco por questões naturais (p=0,001). Conclui-se que deve haver um olhar mais atento para os indivíduos mais jovens e as pessoas de menor escolaridade, pois os motivos indicados (atração visual e preço) estão associados com consumo de alimentos mais processados, além dos indivíduos com excesso de peso, pois entende-se que justamente os motivos que eles ignoram (saúde, fome e naturalidade dos alimentos), estão correlacionados com abordagens de saúde evidenciadas para promoção de um comportamento alimentar mais saudável para todos os indivíduos.

The Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) was developed to estimate the inflammatory power of a dietary pattern. This research aimed to evaluate the association between the IID with sociodemographic, anthropometric and dietary indicators of the elderly in the community. This is a descriptive, probabilistic and retrospective study, with a transversal, quantitative and analytical design, which used secondary data from the research “Food and nutritional situation of the elderly in Palmeira das Missões, RS”. A total of 424 elderly people participated in the study, with a predominance of females (68.4%), aged between 60 and 69 years (49.5%) with a mean of 70.8±7.8 years, presence of a partner (53.8% ), education level below 5 years of schooling (60.1%), with salary income less than two minimum wages (79.7%), presence of excess weight according to BMI (49.1%) , was not a smoker (85.6%), on medication (75.7%) and did not practice physical activity (54.7%). Objective. There are no validated instruments to measure education-related stress in Brazilian university students. Thus, we aimed to translate and test internal reliability, convergent/discriminant validity, and measurement equivalence of the Higher Education Stress Inventory (HESI). Methods. The translation protocol was carried out by two independent translators. The instrument was culturally adapted after a pilot version that was administered to 36 university students. The final version (HESI-Br) was administered to 1021 university students (Mean age = 28.3, SD = 9.6, 76.7% female) via an online questionnaire that extended from September 1 to October 15, 2020. Factor structure was estimated using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) in the first half of the data set. We tested the best EFA-derived model with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) in the second half. Convergent/discriminant validity was tested using the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21). Sex, age groups, period of study, family income and area of study were used to test measurement equivalence. Results. EFA suggested five factors: career dissatisfaction; faculty shortcomings; high workload; financial concerns; and toxic learning environment. CFA supported the 5- factor model (15 items), but not a higher order factor, suggesting multidimensionality. All 5 factors presented acceptable internal reliabilities, with Cronbach’s α ≥.72 and McDonald’s ω ≥.64. CFA models indicate that HESI-Br and DASS-21 assess different but correlated underlying latent constructs, supporting discriminant validity. Equivalence was ascertained for all tested groups. Conclusions. The 15-item HESIBr is a reliable and invariant multidimensional instrument for assessing relevant stressors among university students in Brazil. Objetivo. Não existem instrumentos validados para mensurar o estresse relacionado à educação em universitários brasileiros. Assim, objetivou-se traduzir e testar a confiabilidade interna, a validade convergente/discriminante e a equivalência de mensuração do Higher Education Stress Inventory (HESI). Métodos. O protocolo de tradução foi realizado por dois tradutores independentes. O instrumento foi adaptado culturalmente a partir de uma versão piloto aplicada a 36 universitários. A versão final (HESI-Br) foi aplicada a 1.021 estudantes universitários (Média de idade = 28,3; DP = 9,6; 76,7% do sexo feminino) por meio de um questionário online que se estendeu de 1º de setembro a 15 de outubro de 2020. A estrutura fatorial foi estimada por meio de análise fatorial exploratória (AFE) na primeira metade do conjunto de dados. Testamos o melhor modelo derivado de AFE com análise fatorial confirmatória (AFC) na segunda metade. A validade convergente/discriminante foi testada por meio da Escala de Depressão, Ansiedade e Estresse (DASS-21). Sexo, faixa etária, período de estudo, renda familiar e área de estudo foram usados para testar a equivalência de mensuração. Resultados. A AFE sugeriu cinco fatores: insatisfação com a carreira; deficiências do corpo docente; alta carga de trabalho; preocupações financeiras; e ambiente de aprendizagem tóxico. AFC apoiou o modelo de 5 fatores (15 itens), mas não um fator de ordem superior, sugerindo multidimensionalidade. Todos os 5 fatores apresentaram confiabilidades internas aceitáveis, com α de Cronbach ≥0,72 e ω de McDonald ≥0,64. Os modelos da AFC indicam que a HESI-Br e a DASS-21 avaliam construtos latentes subjacentes diferentes, mas correlacionados, apoiando a validade discriminante. A equivalência foi verificada para todos os grupos testados. Conclusões. O HESI-Br de 15 itens é um instrumento multidimensional confiável e invariante para avaliação de estressores relevantes entre estudantes universitários no Brasil.

Introduction: The senior immobility constitutes one of the greatest geriatric syndromes, being responsible for causing adverse outcomes in seniors’ health. Among the outcomes, it is observed that it generates longer hospitalization time, hospitalizations and death. Among the environments with more concern regarding the immobility, it is the hospital environment, which due to its own characteristics as bed dispositions, less mobility, acquired comorbidities, and underlying diseases, increase the frequency of this syndrome. Objective: Evaluate the predictors of intrahospital immobility in seniors. Methods: It is a quantitative study, longitudinal, and descriptive constituted by a prospective cohort. This study is derived from a portion of the project named “Development of a hospitalized senior health care in HUSM” under CAAE “48212915.50000.5346”. The data collection occurred between the months of September 2015 and July 2016, at the Santa Maria’s University Hospital/RS (HUSM). It was included seniors that entered hospital emergency by varying causes and that accepted to participate the study. It was excluded the individuals who were not capable to answer the survey (by cognitive or communication deficit), or by not having a companion at the survey time to provide the necessary data. It was used as descriptive variables: age, sex, admission pathology, period of hospitalization, and complications (pneumonia, fallings, urinary tract infection, deep vein thrombosis, delirium, and urinary incontinence), and as variable of study the intra-hospital immobility, the Identification of Seniors At Risk, Confusion Assessment Method, Edmonton Frail Scale , and calf circumference measurement. The descriptive analysis was performed (frequency, mean and median), chi-squared test, Backward Wald multivariate logistic regression, and Kaplan-Meier survival curve, significant values were considered when p≤ 0,05 (SPSS 21.0). Results: Among the 397 evaluated individuals, it was observed a predominance in early seniors between 60 and 69 (39.7%), male (53.7%). It was observed that the age (p=0.007), fragility indicators (p=0.007), and delirium (p=0.001) during the hospitalization increased the seniors’ chance to have intra-hospital immobility. Conclusion: These data suggest that the intra-hospital immobility is associated with the age, admissions’ pathology, CC values, frail scores, senior risk index, and comorbidity presence and the predictive variables to immobility were the age, frail, and admission delirium indication. In conclusion, it is suggested to consider these in the implementation of prevent measures as for senior’s intra-hospital immobility. Introdução: A imobilidade em idosos constitui-se como uma das grandes síndromes geriátricas, sendo responsável por provocar desfechos adversos na saúde dos idosos. Entre os desfechos, observa-se que promove maior tempo de internação, internações e óbito. Entre os ambientes com maior preocupação quanto à imobilidade, está o hospitalar, o qual devido às próprias características como posicionamento em leitos, menor mobilidade, comorbidades adquiridas e doenças de base, aumentam a frequência desta síndrome. Objetivo: Avaliar preditores da imobilidade intra-hospitalar em idosos. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, longitudinal e descritivo constituído por uma coorte prospectiva. Este estudo é proveniente de um recorte do projeto intitulado “Desenvolvimento de uma linha de cuidado ao idoso hospitalizado do HUSM” sob CAAE “48212915.50000.5346. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre os meses de setembro de 2015 a julho de 2016, no Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria/RS (HUSM). Foram incluídos idosos que ingressaram na emergência hospitalar, por causas diversas e que aceitaram participar do estudo. Excluídos os indivíduos que não tiveram capacidade de responder os questionários (por déficit cognitivo ou de comunicação) ou por não terem, no momento da pesquisa, acompanhante para o fornecimento dos dados necessários. Foram utilizadas como variáveis descritivas: idade, sexo, patologia de admissão, tempo de internação hospitalar e complicações (pneumonia, quedas, infecção do trato urinário, trombose venosa profunda, delirium e incontinência urinária e como variável de estudo a imobilidade intra-hospitalar, o Identification of seniors at risk, Confusion Assessment Method, Escala de fragilidade de Edmonton e Medida de Circunferência de Panturrilha. Foi realizada análise descritiva (frequência, média e mediana), teste do qui-quadrado, regressão logística multivariada tipo Backward Wald, e curva de mortalidade de Kaplan Meyer, valores significativos foram considerados quando p≤ 0,05 (SPSS 21.0). Resultados: Dos 397 indivíduos avaliados, observou-se que houve predomínio de idosos jovens entre 60 e 69 anos (39,7%), sexo masculino (53,7%). Observou-se que a idade (p=0,007), indicadores de fragilidade (p=0,007) e delirium (p=0,001) durante a internação aumentaram a chance de os idosos terem imobilidade intra-hospitalar. Conclusão: Esses dados sugerem que a imobilidade intra-hospitalar está associada à idade, às patologias de admissão, valores da circunferência da panturrilha, escores de fragilidade, índice de risco sênior e presença de comorbidades e as variáveis preditivas para imobilidade foram idade, fragilidade e apresentar delirium na admissão. Dessa forma, sugere-se que sejam considerados na implementação de medidas preventivas quanto à imobilidade intra-hospitalar de idosos.

The health crisis triggered by the covid-19 pandemic required adaptations and changes in the assistance and management of the Brazilian Unified Health System (Sistema Único de Saúde - SUS) and tested the capacity of governments. This study – Professional Master’s Thesis in Health Sciences, CCS, UFSM – presents an analysis of the dispute over the conduct of SUS’s actions in the city of Santa Maria, RS. The aim was to analyze, based on Mario Testa’s Coherence Postulate, the subjects and institutions that interfered in the way of confronting the health crisis during the first year of the covid-19 pandemic. This study uses propositions from cartographic research, with records and analysis based on the main author’s experience. The period studied was divided into three moments, with the identification of theories and methods in their possible relationships with government purposes and with the role of the state. The research analyzes the repercussions of disputes in the production of care networks, in management styles and in the strengthening or weakening of local organizations. The results show that public institutions (UFSM, HUSM and the city’s health surveillance sector) based their interventions on concepts inscribed in the scientific paradigm and, by supporting the updated recommendations of international organizations, they assured the scope of the main measures taken by public authorities. Concomitantly, in the same public sector, groups of professionals in alliance with the private sector broke with the relationship between theory and method, promoting changes in the assessment of the severity of the disease and in the methods of transmission control. Actors associated with market medicine, at first, advocated for contradictory conducts, standing between the recognition of the severity and the release of measures that impacted the commerce in the city. The new connection between theory, method and government purpose occurs, for this group, in the advocacy of medication without scientific evidence. Despite the consensus identified in the public sector, at first, the intervention methodology was restricted to isolation activities and hospital care. Primary Health Care (PHC) was tardily activated, reflecting a national trend. It is concluded that the health crisis was confronted with different understandings of the severity of the disease, the transmission dynamics and the means of individual and collective protection. The consensus between the public institutions operating in the city and the SUS’s management at the state level was crucial for ensuring actions of prevention, research and assistance. Actors in the public sector sought legitimacy in internationally recognized institutions, whereas actors in the private sector sought to legitimize the methodology of intervention (or non-intervention) according to indications of the federal government. The case of Santa Maria confirms the coherence between the political perspective (view of the role of the state and government actions) and the choice of sanitation theories and intervention methods. It is also an institutional crisis, with a return to more centralized models, with the reaffirmation of the hospital as a place for treatment and the campaign as a model of organizing collective actions, especially vaccination. The analysis of the complexity of this moment provides cues for a more qualified involvement in the struggle for the SUS’s institutionality. A crise sanitária desencadeada pela pandemia de covid-19 exigiu adaptações e mudanças na atenção e gestão do SUS e testou a capacidade de governos. O estudo - Dissertação do Mestrado Profissional em Ciências da Saúde, CCS, UFSM – apresenta uma análise da disputa pela condução das ações do SUS no município de Santa Maria, RS. O objetivo foi analisar, a partir do Postulado de Coerência de Mário Testa, sujeitos e instituições que interferiram na forma de condução do enfrentamento da crise sanitária durante o primeiro ano da pandemia de covid-19. Este estudo utiliza pressupostos da pesquisa cartográfica, com registro e análise a partir da experiência da autora principal. O período estudado foi dividido em três momentos, identificando-se teorias e métodos em suas possíveis relações com propósitos de governo e com o papel do Estado. A pesquisa analisa as repercussões das disputas na produção das redes de atenção, das formas de gestão e no fortalecimento ou fragilização de organizações locais. Os resultados evidenciam que as instituições públicas (UFSM, HUSM e área de Vigilância à Saúde do Município) pautaram suas intervenções em conceitos inscritos no paradigma científico e, sustentando a atualização das recomendações dos organismos internacionais, garantiram o escopo das principais medidas tomadas pelo poder público. Concomitantemente, no mesmo segmento público, grupos de profissionais em aliança com o setor privado, romperam com a relação entre teoria e método, promovendo mudanças na avaliação da gravidade da doença e nos métodos de controle da transmissão. Atores identificados com a medicina de mercado, no primeiro momento, defenderam condutas contraditórias, ficando entre o reconhecimento da gravidade e a liberação das medidas que impactavam no movimento do comércio da cidade. A nova amarração entre teoria, método e propósito de governo se dá, para este grupo, na defesa de medicação sem evidência científica. Apesar do consenso identificado no segmento público, no primeiro momento, a metodologia de intervenção ficou restrita a atividades de isolamento e atendimento hospitalar. A Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS), repercutindo um movimento nacional, foi ativada tardiamente. Conclui-se que a crise sanitária foi enfrentada com compreensões distintas da gravidade da doença, das formas de transmissão e meios de proteção individual e coletiva. O consenso entre as instituições públicas com ação no município e a gestão do SUS na esfera estadual foi determinante para garantia de ações de prevenção, pesquisa e assistência. Atores da esfera pública buscaram legitimação em instituições de reconhecimento internacional enquanto atores da esfera privada buscaram legitimar a metodologia de intervenção (ou de não intervenção) nas sinalizações do governo federal. O caso de Santa Maria reafirma a coerência entre a perspectiva política (visão do papel do Estado e atuação de governos) e a escolha de teorias sanitárias e métodos de intervenção. Trata-se também de uma crise institucional, com retorno a modelos mais centralizados, com reforço do hospital como local para tratamento e da campanha como modelo de organização das ações coletivas, especialmente as vacinas. A análise da complexidade deste momento dá pistas para uma inserção mais qualificada na luta pela institucionalidade do SUS.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Given the population aging that directly impacts on epidemiological, social, economic, and environmental factors; it is clear the need to generate knowledge and improve the praxis in favor of prevention and health promotion of this population. One of the major risks offered to the health and quality of life of the elderly is the occurrence of falls, which can be associated with balance deficits, changes in postural control, and with the individual's high body mass index (BMI), among others. The following study aimed to investigate whether there is a relationship between postural control (PC) and the risk of falls (RF) in obese and non-obese elderly women. The following thesis is an arm of the integrated project entitled “Functionality, Risk of Falls, Level of Physical Activity and Postural Control in Women with and without Urinary Incontinence”. This is a descriptive, observational, cross-sectional survey with data already collected from elderly groups linked to Núcleo Integrado de Estudos e Atenção à Pessoa Idosa (NIEATI) of the Centro de Educação Física e Desportos (CEFD) of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM). The study has considered women aged 60 years or more evaluated to relationship the dynamic and static postural control variables and the body mass index of the elderly women participating in the research in relation to the risk of falls. The instruments used were: Registration Form prepared by the researchers, the Katz index to assess the level of independence in the practice of daily activities, the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) to assess cognitive status, anthropometric measures to calculate the index Body Mass and Waist Circumference, the Force Platform to assess dynamic and static CP. The Timed up and go (TUG) and Fall Risk tests were used to assess the RQ. The analysis of collected data was performed using descriptive statistics to characterize the sample, followed by the Shapiro-Wilk normality test for continuous variables. Two-tailed independent Student's T test for comparing parametric variables and the Mann-Whitney U test for non-parametric variables. For categorical variables, the Chi-square test followed by odds ratio and relative risk. For the association between BMI and Force Platform variables, the Pearson (parametric) and Spearman (non-parametric) correlation test. The level of significance was 0.05 and performed using the SPSS software version 17.0. The results showed that elderly women with obesity have a higher risk of falls when compared to non-obese women and, in the CP variables, random findings pointed to the interference of vision in the performance of the static test for obese elderly women and in the dynamic test (squat), the possible influence of muscle strength on the performance of non-obese elderly women. In conclusion, obesity and the reduction in muscle strength may characterize as potential risk to the occurrence of falls. It is essential then to be implemented actions that support and promote healthy habits to such population. Diante do envelhecimento populacional que impacta diretamente nos fatores epidemiológicos, sociais, econômicos e ambientais, percebe-se que é preciso gerar conhecimento e aperfeiçoar a práxis em favor da prevenção e promoção da saúde dessa população. Um dos grandes riscos oferecidos a saúde e a qualidade de vida dos idosos é a ocorrência de quedas, que pode estar associada ao déficit de equilíbrio, alterações no controle postural e ainda, ao alto índice de massa corporal (IMC) do indivíduo, dentre outros. Diante do exposto, este estudo buscou investigar se há relação entre o controle postural (CP) e o risco de quedas (RQ) de idosas obesas e não obesas. Esta Dissertação é um braço do projeto integrado intitulado “Funcionalidade, Risco de quedas, Nível de atividade física e controle postural em mulheres com e sem incontinência urinária”. Trata-se de uma pesquisa do tipo descritiva, observacional, transversal com dados já coletados junto a grupos de terceira idade vinculadas ao Núcleo Integrado de Estudos e Atenção à Pessoa Idosa (NIEATI) do Centro de Educação Física e Desportos (CEFD) da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM). De abordagem quantitativa, nesse estudo foram avaliadas mulheres com 60 anos ou mais para relação das variáveis do Controle Postural dinâmico e estático e o Índice de Massa Corporal das idosas participantes da pesquisa em relação ao Risco de Quedas. Os instrumentos utilizados foram: Ficha de Registro elaborada pelos pesquisadores, o índice de Katz para avaliar o nível de independência na prática de atividades diárias, o Mini Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM) para avaliar o estado cognitivo, medidas antropométricas para o cálculo do Índice de Massa Corporal e da Circunferência da Cintura, a Plataforma de Força para avaliar o CP dinâmico e estático. O Teste Timed up and go (TUG) e o Fall Risk foram utilizados para avaliação do RQ. A análise dos dados coletados foi realizada através da estatística descritiva para caracterização da amostra, seguida do Teste de normalidade Shapiro-Wilk para as variáveis continuas. Teste T de Student independente bicaudal para comparação das variáveis paramétricas e o Teste U de Mann-Whitney para as não-paramétricas. Para as variáveis categóricas, o Teste de Qui-quadrado seguido da razão de chances e risco relativo. Para a associação entre IMC e as variáveis da Plataforma de força, o Teste de correlação de Pearson (paramétricas) e Spearman (não-paramétricas). O nível de significância foi de 0,05 e realizadas no Software SPSS versão 17.0. Os resultados mostraram que as idosas com obesidade apresentam maior risco de quedas quando comparadas às não obesas e, nas variáveis do CP, achados aleatórios apontaram para a interferência da visão no desempenho do teste estático para as idosas obesas e, no teste dinâmico (agachamento), a possível influência da força muscular no desempenho das idosas não obesas. Concluindo, a obesidade e a redução de força muscular podem caracterizar-se como potenciais riscos à ocorrência de quedas e, neste sentido, é fundamental que hajam ações que incentivem e promovam hábitos saudáveis à esta população.

Pregnancy usually presents a course without complications. However, in some cases, the development of pathologies inherent to pregnancy or the presence of previous pathologies may occur, increasing the risk of complications. Hypertensive diseases during pregnancy represent significant complications, contributing to high maternal, fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. The University Hospital of Santa Maria (HUSM), a regional reference for prenatal care of high-risk pregnant women, presents an ideal setting for the study of the routes of delivery, as well as gestational and perinatal outcomes, in patients with Gestational Hypertensive Disease. This study aims to characterize the epidemiological profile of parturients, evaluate prenatal and delivery data, including indications for birth, route of delivery and its complications, as well as data on the newborn. A quantitative, observational and cross-sectional study was carried out based on interviews with postpartum women and on the review of the medical records of hypertensive pregnant women without comorbidities who gave birth at the HUSM, Santa Maria, RS, between January 2017 and June 2018. A descriptive analysis of the variables and the association between them was verified by the chi-square test, with a significance level of 5%. This study complied with the ethical precepts contained in CNS Resolution n.466/2012 and was approved by the UFSM Ethics Committee (opinion n° 2,814,895 and CAAE 1 59366116.5.0000.5346). During the analysed period, there were 3156 births at the HUSM, with 31.1% in hypertensive pregnant women. The study included 1904 pregnant women, 981 (51.5%) with hypertension and 923 (48.5%) without comorbidities. Of the hypertensive women, 42.4% had pre-eclampsia (PE), 5.8% had PE superimposed on chronic hypertension (SAH), 12.0% had chronic SAH and 39.8% had gestational SAH. SAH was associated with maternal age equal to or greater than 35 years, obesity, nulliparity or multiparity, and prenatal care at a high-risk service with at least 6 prenatal appointments. Introduction: Cancer in Brazil has become an effective public health problem, with the increase in the number of new cases per year. The World Health Organization recommends that, in order to fight cancer, actions to promote and strengthen national cancer control plans are put into practice; building international networks and partnerships; interventions for organized and evidence-based early detection. In Brazil, the Hospital Cancer Registry (RHC) network is led by INCA and the member hospitals submit their data annually. Objectives: To establish methods to ensure the quality of information from the identification of tumor cases as well as completeness and consistency of the data collected and sent by the RHC of the University Hospital of Santa Maria (HUSM). Materials and methods: A retrospective, exploratory study with a qualitative and quantitative approach was carried out on mandatory data that were consolidated and registered in the RHC of the HUSM in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The data were tabulated in Microsoft Excel Software and the Simple and cross-frequency analyzes were performed using the Software Statistical Analysis System (SAS). Results and discussion: The databases of three consecutive years, 2017, 2018 and 2019 were analyzed, totaling 4731 patients. The completeness analysis of 35 variables from the tumor record showed five items with bad incompleteness and two with very bad that were accurately analyzed. They were similar in terms of sex and age, and 100% completeness. Education showed an excellent degree of completeness, while occupation showed an average incompleteness of 47.22% (poor). For TNM, incompleteness was of very poor quality for the years 2017 (74.97%) and 2018 (65.55%) and poor quality in 2019 (47.06%); the staging had bad incompleteness, 34.78%, 48.63% and 34.58%, in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 respectively. Family history, alcohol consumption and tobacco consumption evidence poor mean incompleteness of 36.08%, 31.26% and 20.78%, respectively. The TNM and staging items that are necessary parameters for both the therapeutic decision and the financial reimbursement for the institution. Environmental factors, cultural environment (lifestyle, and customs of life) and occupational environment, as well as hereditary, family and ethnic characteristics, are important to define clinical and preventive behaviors and guide actions in health education. Thus, excellent completeness or incompleteness of data is paramount for the purposes proposed by the RHC. Conclusion: To improve the quality of information in the HUSM's RHC, standard operating procedures and an action plan were formulated, using the 5W1H tool, to make the routines more effective and reliable both in the description and in the collection of data for filling out the form of the RHC. Thus, all RHC data can be used in full, contributing to research and decisions on surveillance, prevention, and protection at the regional and national levels. Introdução: O câncer no Brasil tornou-se um problema efetivo de saúde pública com o aumento do número de novos casos/ano. A Organização Mundial da Saúde recomenda que para o enfrentamento do câncer sejam postas em prática ações para promoção e fortalecimento de planos nacionais de controle do câncer, construção de redes internacionais, parcerias e intervenções para detecção precoce organizada e baseada em evidências. No Brasil, a rede de Registro Hospitalar de Câncer (RHC) é liderada pelo INCA e, os hospitais integrantes encaminham seus dados anualmente. Objetivos: Estabelecer métodos para garantir a qualidade das informações desde a identificação de casos de tumor bem como completude e consistência dos dados coletados e enviados pelo RHC do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria (HUSM). Materiais e métodos: Foi realizado um estudo retrospectivo, exploratório, de abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, em dados de preenchimento obrigatório que foram consolidados e registrados no RHC do HUSM nos anos 2017, 2018 e 2019. Os dados foram tabulados no Software Microsoft Excel e as análises das frequências simples e cruzadas foram realizadas no Software Statistical Analisys System (SAS). Resultados e discussão: Foram analisados os bancos de dados de três anos consecutivos, 2017, 2018 e 2019, totalizando 4731 pacientes. A análise da completude de 35 variáveis da ficha de tumor, evidenciou cinco itens com incompletudes ruim e dois com muito ruim que foram acuradamente analisados. Apresentaram semelhança quanto ao sexo e a idade (100% de completude). A escolaridade, mostrou um grau de completude excelente, já a ocupação, uma incompletude média de 47,22% (ruim). Para o TNM, as incompletudes foram com qualidade muito ruim para os anos de 2017 (74,97%) e 2018 (65,55%) e, ruim em 2019 (47,06%); o estadiamento teve incompletudes ruins, 34,78%, 48,63% e 34,58%, nos anos de 2017, 2018 e 2019 respectivamente. O histórico familiar, de consumo de bebida alcoólica e de consumo de tabaco evidencia incompletudes médias (ruim) de 36,08%, 31,26% e 20,78%, respectivamente. Os itens TNM e estadiamento que são parâmetros necessários tanto para decisão terapêutica como para o ressarcimento financeiro para a instituição. Fatores ambientais, ambiente cultural (estilo, costumes e hábitos de vida) e ambiente ocupacional assim como as características hereditárias, familiares e étnicos são importantes para definição de condutas clínicas e de prevenção e nortear ações em educação em saúde. Assim a completude excelente ou incompletudes de dados são primordiais para os fins a que se propõe o RHC. Conclusão: Para aprimorar a qualidade das informações no RHC do HUSM foram formulados procedimentos operacionais padrão e um plano de ação, utilizando a ferramenta 5W1H, para tornar as rotinas mais efetivas e fidedignas tanto na descrição como para a coleta dos dados e no preenchimento da ficha do RHC. Assim todos os dados do RHC poderão ser utilizados na íntegra, contribuindo para as pesquisa e decisões de vigilância, prevenção e proteção no âmbito regional e nacional.

The aging of the Brazilian population is a reality, and this demographic transition is accompanied by an increase in the prevalence of non-communicable chronic diseases and conditions, including skin diseases and injuries. These are considered a serious health problem. In Brazil, although there are few robust studies on the incidence and prevalence of injuries, their occurrences are high, ranging from 10.6% to 62%, depending on the study. The elderly, due to physiological cutaneous changes, are more susceptible to skin lesions, which, once established, require greater efforts for healing, as in addition to the expected changes, non-communicable chronic diseases collaborate to the chronicity of wounds. Given the context, the search for alternatives that can help in the treatment of skin lesions, optimizing tissue repair, is justified. Aloe vera (AV) is a plant widely used for healing and has been studied in search of evidence that its elements can help in the healing process. Given the magnitude of the problem of skin lesions and taking into account that aging skin is more likely to develop lesions and, consequently, more difficult to resolve them, reviewing and seeking scientific evidence on the causal mechanisms of VA benefits is relevant. Thus, the aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review of VA, one of the medicinal plants present in the Unified Health System and its healing potential. A search was performed in PUBMED and Scielo databases, with the combination of the following descriptors: "Aloe vera" AND "Wound healing", "Aloe Vera and wound healing" "Aloe Vera Y Cicatrización de heridas, with a time frame of 10 years old. The following were excluded: articles that were not in English, Portuguese or Spanish, review articles, any study that associated Aloe vera with another molecule or plant; any and all articles whose main objective was not skin healing related to VA treatment. A total of 201 studies were identified, which, after screening for exclusion criteria, were reduced to 29 articles, which were read in full. Of these 14 were in vivo studies, 8 were clinical trials, 5 were in vitro studies and 2 were translational studies. The evidence produced indicates AV modulation in the inflammatory, proliferative, maturation and regeneration phases. Studies suggest that VA has pro-scarring actives in its constitution, which optimize tissue repair, by stimulating the migration and cell proliferation of leukocytes, fibroblasts and keratinocytes, induction of neoangiogenesis and collagen deposition. O envelhecimento da população brasileira é uma realidade, e esta transição demográfica, é acompanhada pelo aumento na prevalência de doenças e agravos crônicos não transmissíveis, dentre os quais, as doenças e lesões de pele. Estas são consideradas um problema grave de saúde. No Brasil, embora existam poucos trabalhos robustos sobre incidência e prevalência de lesões, as ocorrências dessas são altas, variando de 10,6% a 62%, dependendo do estudo. O idoso, devido à alterações fisiológicas cutâneas, apresenta maior suscetibilidade à lesões na pele, que depois de estabelecidas, necessitam de maior empenho para cicatrização, pois além das alterações esperadas, as doenças crônicas não transmissíveis colaboram para a cronificação das feridas. Diante do contexto justifica-se a busca de alternativas que possam auxiliar no tratamento das lesões de pele, otimizando o reparo tecidual. A Aloe vera (AV) é uma planta muito utilizada para cicatrização e tem sido estudada, na busca de evidências de que seus elementos possam auxiliar no processo cicatricial. Dada a magnitude da problemática das lesões de pele e levando em conta que uma pele envelhecida tem maior propensão ao desenvolvimento de lesões e consequentemente maior dificuldade na resolução destas, revisar e buscar evidências científicas sobre os mecanismos causais dos benefícios da AV é relevante. Assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma revisão sistemática sobre a AV, uma das plantas medicinais presentes no Sistema Único de Saúde e seu potencial cicatrizante. Foi realizada uma busca em base de dados PUBMED e Scielo, com a combinação dos seguintes descritores: "Aloe vera" AND "Wound healing", "Aloe Vera E Cicatrização de feridas" "Aloe Vera Y Cicatrización de heridas, com recorte temporal de 10 anos. Foram excluídos: artigos que não estivessem em inglês, português ou espanhol, artigos de revisão, qualquer estudo que associasse Aloe vera a outra molécula ou planta; todo e qualquer artigo cujo objetivo principal não fosse a cicatrização da pele relacionada ao tratamento com AV. Foram identificados 201 estudos, que após triagem de critérios de exclusão, foram reduzidos para 29 artigos, que foram lidos na íntegra. Destes 14 eram estudos in vivo, 8 eram ensaios clínicos, 5 estudos in vitro e 2 estudos translacionais. As evidências produzidas indicam modulação da AV nas fases inflamatória, proliferativa, maturação e regeneração. Os estudos sugerem que AV apresenta ativos pró cicatricias em sua constituição, que otimizam o reparo tecidual, através do estímulo à migração e proliferação celular de leucócitos, fibroblastos e queratinócitos, da indução de neoangiogênese e da deposição de colágeno.

With each passing year, the number of elderly people grows, and this generates significant changes associated with sociocultural changes, physiological changes and skeletal muscle, as these changes bring damage to bodily systems that culminate in decreased mobility, postural control and balance, potential risks for falls. Falls are the main cause of unintentional death and injury among the elderly, considered the most common accident in this age group. The regular practice of physical activity has been shown to be beneficial and helps to minimize the impacts caused by advancing age, acting on structural and functional changes that make the individual vulnerable to falls. The aim of this study was to compare dynamic postural control and the risk of falls in physically active elderly women, as falls usually occur in a dynamic situation. The research consists of a documental study from the database of the original research of a descriptive, observational, transversal type with a quantitative approach. Forty elderly women, aged between 60 and 83 years (66.3±5.6), physically active, evaluated by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) were selected from the database. The participants in this study were recruited from groups of elderly women involved in physical activities linked to the Integrated Center for Studies and Support for the Elderly (NIEATI) of a city in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul. Due to the advances in neonatal care it has been possible to reduce the mortality in preterm infants and those with extremely low birth weight, although, their survivor has been followed by majority morbidities. The neonatal severity scores aim to classify the infant condindition in admission at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and are an important tool for survivor prediction. However, the potential use of these tools as morbidities prediction has been suggested, but not widely used. The purpose of this study is to assess the ability of the neonatal severity scores SNAP II, SNAP-PE II, CRIB and CRIB-II as predictors for neonatal morbidities as Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia, Retinopathy of Prematurity and Peri/Intraventricular Hemorrhage and/or Periventricular Leukomalacia. This study is an observational prospective cohort and the population was composed of newborns admitted in HUSM NICU in the period of 1 year. Those who evolved to death within less than 12 hours of life and those within malformations or genetic syndromes incompatible with life were excluded. The data was extracted from the patient's medical record, the scores were applied and the morbidity presence avalueted. 201 infants were included, the median gestational age was 34 weeks, while the median birth weight was 1815 grams. Classic BPD was the most prevalent morbidity, being present in 13,5% patients. The presence for 2 or more morbidities was found in 9% of the total studied. SNAP-PE II had the best association to “classic” BDP (sensibility 81,48%, specificity 79,46% and area under the ROC curve 0,7492 0,73 (IC 0,623-0,840)) and also to “new” BPD (sensibility 69,23%, specificity 75,53% and area under the ROC curve 0,80 (IC 0,692- 0,914)). For those born with very low birth weight, CRIB score showed area under the ROC curve 0,7952 (IC 0,666-0,923). In due to ROP, the SNAP-PE II and CRIB II scores showed similar results: sensibility 68,75%, specificity 79,46% and area under the ROC curve 0,7492 (IC 0,611-0,811); sensibility 100%, specificity 54,14% and area under the ROC curve 0,7532 (IC 0,618-0,887), respectively. With regard to cerebral injuries SNAP-PE II was also superior within an area under the ROC curve 0,72 (IC 0,567-0,879), sensibility 75% and specificity 65,95%. The use of severity scores as morbidity predictors shows promising, within good to excellent sensibility, especially when it comes to SNAP-PE II. In very low birth weight preterms, CRIB II also stands out as a predictor for ROP and “new” BDP. Com aos avanços nos cuidados intensivos neonatais tem sido possível reduzir a mortalidade de crianças nascidas prematuras, em especial, nas de extremo baixo peso. Entretanto, nas últimas, a maior sobrevida tem sido acompanhada por importantes morbidades. Os escores de gravidade neonatal visam classificar a condição clínica do recém-nascido, no momento da internação na Unidade de Tratamento Intensivo Neonatal, e são relevantes ferramentas de predição de sobrevida. Contudo, a possível relação dessas ferramentas com o desenvolvimento de algumas morbidades tem sido sugerida, mas ainda pouco explorada. Esse estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a capacidade dos escores SNAP II, SNAP-PE II, CRIB e CRIB-II como preditores das morbidades Displasia Broncopulmonar, Retinopatia da Prematuridade e Hemorragia Peri/Intraventricular e/ou Leucomalácia Periventricular. Essa pesquisa seguiu um modelo de estudo tipo coorte observacional, sendo a população de estudo composta pelos recém-nascidos que internaram na Unidade de Tratamento Intensivo Neonatal do Hospital Universitário de Santa Maria, período de 1 ano. Foram excluídos aqueles que evoluíram para óbito antes de 12 horas de vida e os que apresentaram malformações ou síndromes genéticas incompatíveis com a vida. Os dados foram retirados dos prontuários dos pacientes, os escores em estudo pontuados e a ocorrência dos desfechos verificada. Foram incluídos 201 RN, a mediana de idade gestacional foi de 34 semanas, enquanto a mediana de peso ao nascer foi 1815 gramas. A DBP clássica foi a mais prevalente, estando presente em 13,5% dos pacientes A presença de duas ou mais morbidades foi encontrada em 9% do total estudado. Healing involves inflammation, fibroblast proliferation and collagen remodeling. Studies have elucidated the modulation of repair at the molecular and biochemical level in an attempt to avoid pathological scarring. The repair can be influenced by the patient's nutritional status and, therefore, be stimulated by products originating from plants, including guarana and açaí, which have a healing effect by modulating the inflammatory and proliferative phases. It is possible that the combination of these results in a potential innovative pharmacological product, with high healing power. Objective: To evaluate the effect of the formula, developed with guarana and açaí seeds, in an experimental model of post-surgical repair, in vitro and in vivo. Methods: The study does not need to be approved by the Ethics Committee. Initially, the conjugate extract Guaraná-Açai (GA) was developed using hot water and citric acid, the extract was obtained and the chemical analysis was carried out through mass spectrophotometry. The antioxidant and genoprotective capacity of GA were analyzed respectively by the DPPH and Gemo tests. A pharmacological concentration-response curve (1, 3, 5, 10 and 30 μg / mL) in fibroblasts (HFF-1) and keratinocytes (HaCAT) both commercially obtained was performed and the concentration of choice for the other tests was 5 μg / mL. In fibroblasts, the strach assay was performed, the so-called in vitro wound assay, after 3,6, 24 and 72 hours of injury induction and treatment, oxidative markers were analyzed, apoptotic marker after 24 hours, total collagen after 24, 48 and 72 hours and analysis of the expression of genes related to proliferation, collagen and inflammation after 24 hours. A second in vivo protocol was performed using Eisenia fetida earthworm after 1,3,6,12 and 24 hours of the surgical caudal incision between the third and fifth posterior segment, and addition of treatment with GA or phosphate buffer for the control animals, macroscopic and histological analysis was performed using Masson staining -Goldner.The SOX-4 gene was measured via RT-PCR after 3 and 24 hours. Results: Sixteen bioactive molecules, including some substances never previously described in the isolated extracts, were identified. All concentrations tested in the cell model exhibited non-cytotoxic and antioxidant effects in addition to genoprotective. The concentration of choice 5 μg / mL showed pro-regeneration effects in an in vitro model. The GA extract accelerated the healing processes observed in cells and through macroscopic and histological analysis in earthworms. Conclusion: Despite the methodological limitations, these results indicated that the GA extract has the potential to accelerate the healing/regeneration of wounds induced in vitro or surgically in vivo. More studies need to be carried out so that these results can become a product to be made available to the population, bringing benefits to society as a whole. Introdução: O reparo dos tecidos é um processo complexo que exige ativação de mediadores e de mecanismos relacionados à cicatrização e à regeneração. A cicatrização envolve inflamação, proliferação de fibroblastos e remodelagem do colágeno. Estudos têm elucidado a modulação do reparo a nível molecular e bioquímico na tentativa de evitar cicatrizes patológicas. O reparo pode ser influenciado pelo estado nutricional do paciente e por isso ser estimulado por produtos originários de plantas, incluindo o guaraná e o açaí, que possuem efeito cicatrizante por modularem as fases inflamatória e proliferativa. É possível que a combinação destes, resulte em um potencial produto farmacológico inovador, com elevado poder cicatricial. Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito de um formulado, desenvolvido com semente de guaraná e de açaí, em modelo experimental de reparo pós-cirúrgico, in vitro e in vivo. Métodos: O estudo não necessita de aprovação em Comitê de ética. Inicialmente foi desenvolvido o extrato conjugado Guaraná- Açai (GA) com uso de água quente e ácido cítrico, o extrato foi obtido e a análise química foi feita através de espectrofotometria de massa. A capacidade antioxidante e genoprotetora do GA foi analisada respectivamente pelo teste DPPH e Gemo. Uma curva farmacológica concentração-resposta (1, 3, 5, 10 e 30 μg / mL) em fibroblastos (HFF-1) e queratinócitos (HaCAT) ambos obtidos comercialmente foi realizada e a concentração de escolha para os demais testes foi 5 μg / mL. Em fibroblastos então realizou-se o strach assay, o chamado ensaio de ferida in vitro, após 3,6,24 e 72 horas da indução da lesão e tratamento, foram analisados marcadores oxidativos, marcador apoptótico após 24 horas, colágeno total após 24, 48 e 72 horas e a análise da expressão de genes relacionados a proliferação, colágeno e inflamação após 24 horas. Um segundo protocolo in vivo foi realizado utilizando minhoca Eisenia fetida após 1,3,6,12 e 24 horas da incisão caudal cirúrgica entre o terceiro e quinto segmento posterior e adição do tratamento com GA ou tampão fosfato para os animais controle foi realizada a análise macroscópica e histológica utilizando a coloração Masson-Goldner.O gene SOX-4 foi mensurado via RT-PCR após 3 e 24 horas. Resultados: Dezesseis moléculas bioativas, incluindo algumas substâncias nunca descritas anteriormente nos extratos isolados foram identificadas. Todas as concentrações testadas no modelo celular exibiram efeitos não citotoxicos e antioxidantes além de genoprotetores. A concetração de escolha 5 μg / mL apresentou efeitos pró-regeneração em modelo in vitro. O extrato de GA acelerou os processos de cicatrização observados em células e por meio de análises macroscópicas e histológicas em minhocas. Conclusão: Apesar das limitações metodológicas, estes resultados indicaram que o extrato de GA tem potencial acelerador da cicatrização/ regeneração de feridas induzidas in vitro ou cirurgicamente in vivo. Mais estudos precisam ser realizados para que este resultados possam se transformar em um produto a ser disponibilizado a população, trazendo benefícios a sociedade como um todo.

Stroke has been among the most relevant chronic diseases of our time and it is the third leading cause of morbimortality in the west, which may cause cognitive and motor deficits in most patients. The vast majority of strokes in Brazil have an ischemic etiology and approximately 80% of the cases have the participation of extracranial carotid stenosis in its etiopathogenesis. Studying the primary perioperative outcomes, as well as discussing carotid revascularization techniques and their indications allow for a better approach and optimization of the treatment. Retrospective observational study in patients submitted to carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and transluminal carotid angioplasty (TCA), based on the review of 78 medical records divided into 2 groups, according to the presence or absence of symptoms. Patients selected for surgical intervention comprised both asymptomatic with stenosis greater than 80% and symptomatic with >70% stenosis of the lumen of the internal carotid artery (ICA), basing the degrees of stenosis on the NASCET/ECST criteria. CEA was performed in 75 patients and only 3 patients carried out PTA. Critical ICA stenosis was found in 100% of the studied patients; from those, 49 (62.8%) were male. Of the 78 patients who underwent procedures, 46 (58.97%) were symptomatic and 32 (41%) asymptomatic. Among the perioperative clinical outcomes, 4 (5.12%) cases of cerebrovascular accident (CVA) were identified, with 3 (6.52%) patients in the group of symptomatic patients and only 1 (3.125%) case among the asymptomatic ones. No cases of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) were observed, and no deaths from any cause were found in the perioperative period. The low rates of perioperative clinical outcomes are in line with international studies and corroborate the safety of the procedure in this institution. O acidente vascular cerebral (AVC) está entre as doenças crônicas mais relevantes da atualidade e é a terceira principal causa de morbimortalidade no ocidente, podendo causar déficit cognitivo e motor na maioria dos pacientes. A grande maioria dos AVC no Brasil têm etiologia isquêmica e aproximadamente 80% dos casos tem a participação da estenose carotídea extracraniana na sua etiopatogenia. Estudar os desfechos primários no perioperatório, assim como discutir as técnicas de revascularização carotídea e suas indicações permitem uma melhor abordagem e otimização do tratamento. Estudo retrospectivo observacional em pacientes submetidos à endarterectomia (ECA) e angioplastia transluminal de carótida (ATC), baseado na revisão de 78 prontuários divididos em 2 grupos, conforme a presença ou não de sintomas. Os pacientes selecionados para intervenção cirúrgica compreendiam tanto assintomáticos com estenose superior a 80% e sintomáticos com estenose >70% do lúmen da artéria carótida interna (ACI), baseando os graus de estenoses nos critérios de NASCET/ECST. ECA foi realizada em 75 pacientes e apenas 3 pacientes realizaram ATC. Estenose crítica de ACI foi encontrada em 100% dos pacientes estudados, dos quais 49 (62,8%) eram do sexo masculino. Dos 78 pacientes que realizaram procedimentos, 46 (58,97%) eram sintomáticos e 32 (41%) assintomáticos. Entre os desfechos clínicos perioperatórios foram identificados 4 (5,12%) casos de acidente vascular cerebral (AVC), sendo 3 (6,52%) pacientes no grupo de pacientes sintomáticos e apenas 1 (3,125%) caso entre os assintomáticos. Não foi observado nenhum caso de infarto agudo de miocárdio (IAM) e não foi constatado nenhum óbito por qualquer causa no perioperatório. Os baixos índices dos desfechos clínicos no perioperatório estão em consonância com os estudos internacionais e corroboram a segurança do procedimento nesta instituição.

Leukemias consist of a group of malignant neoplasms whose main characteristic is the clonal expansion of immature hematopoietic progenitor cells that do not bleed in the bone marrow. They are divided into acute and chronic and myeloid and lymphoid (AML). Or present this study as an objective, write an integrative review on the epidemiological profile of patients with acute myeloid leukemia, which is based on the use of scientific papers available in the SciELO, LILACS and PubMed databases between the years 2015 and 2020, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. For the search for two articles, for the following descriptors: “Acute myeloid leukemia” and “Epidemiological profile”. Forms of the following inclusion criteria for the selection of two articles and papers: texts published in Portuguese, English (Acute myeloid leukemia, Health Profile) and Spanish (Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Health Profile), published in the period from 2015 to 2020. Two 26 items found, 21 were excluded from the investigation because they did not meet our inclusion criteria. Two 5 jobs included in the present study, there is a prevalence of jobs published in 2016 and 2017, both with 40% each, followed by 2018 with 20%. The higher the incidence of AML was in males, with AML M3 in September, respectively, or the most frequent subtype and cause of death. In studies with children with older children, the majority of cases were between 4 and 10 years old. Regarding ethnicity, 66.67%, two articles that address this characteristic, presenting individuals of white ethnicity. We found a growth trend, in addition to some studies that address the epidemiological profile of patients diagnosed with AML. Only two studies addressed two individuals with the most common subtype of AML survival. Based on the epidemiological data presented, this study can be used as an incentive in the construction and development of public policies for the diagnosis and treatment of AML. The constant updating of two epidemiological data will result in advances in the quality of care provided to these patients, contributing to an increase in the cure rate after death. São divididas em agudas e crônicas e mieloide e linfoide. O presente estudo teve como objetivo, escrever uma revisão integrativa sobre o perfil epidemiológico de pacientes com leucemia mieloide aguda nos quais foram utilizados trabalhos científicos disponibilizados nas bases de dados SciELO, LILACS e PubMed entre os anos 2015 a 2020, em português, inglês e espanhol. Para a busca dos artigos, foram empregados os seguintes descritores: “Leucemia mielóide aguda” e “Perfil epidemiológico”. Foram adotados os seguintes critérios de inclusão para a seleção dos artigos e trabalhos: textos publicados em português , inglês (Acute myeloid leukemia, Health Profile) e espanhol (Leucemia Mieloide Aguda, Perfil de Salud), publicados no período de 2015 a 2020. Dos 26 artigos encontrados, 21 foram excluídos da pesquisa por não se enquadrarem nos critérios de inclusão. Dos 5 trabalhos incluídos no presente estudo, houve prevalência de trabalhos publicados em 2016 e 2017, ambos com 40% cada, seguidos pelo ano de 2018 com 20%. A maior incidência da LMA foi em indivíduos do sexo masculino, sendo a LMA M3 e a sepse, respectivamente o subtipo e causa de morte mais frequentes. Em estudos feitos com crianças a idade em que mais houve casos foi de 4 a 10 anos. Em relação a etnia, 66,67%, dos artigos que abordaram essa característica, apresentaram indivíduos com etnia branca. Constatamos a tendência de crescimento, mas ainda poucos estudos que abordam o perfil epidemiológico de pacientes com diagnóstico de LMA. Apenas dois estudos abordavam a sobrevida dos indivíduos com essa doença e o subtipo mais frequente de LMA. A síntese de dados epidemiológicos apresentados nesse estudo pode ser utilizados como alicerce na construção e o desenvolvimento de políticas públicas para a melhoria do diagnóstico e tratamento da LMA. A atualização constante dos dados epidemiológicos reverterá em avanço na qualidade da assistência prestada a esses pacientes, contribuindo, para o aumento da taxa de cura dessa doença.

Antineoplastic chemotherapy represents the use of isolated or combined chemical substances in the treatment of malignant tumors, being considered one of the most important ways to fight cancer. Peripheral neuropathy (PN) is a clinical condition characterized by impairment of sensitive nerves and / or peripheral motors, which can have multiple causes. The main diseases that cause PN are repetitive strain injury, diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatism, psoriasis, hypothyroidism, leprosy, heavy metal poisoning and it is also the adverse effect of certain medications such as some antimicrobials, statins and especially drugs antineoplastic. Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a neurological syndrome that mainly affects patients undergoing treatment with antineoplastic agents such as taxanes (docetaxel, paclitaxel and cabazitaxel), platinum derivatives (oxaliplatin, cisplatin and carboplatin), bortezomib and vinca alkaloids (vimblastine, vincristine and vinorelbine). CIPN is the most frequent neurological complication, secondary to antineoplastic treatment and affects one third of patients, interfering with functionality and compromising quality of life. This NPIQ has different degrees of toxicity, varying according to the type of medication used, time of administration and cumulative dose. An integrative review was carried out on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and its effects on cancer patients using scientific articles published, over the past five years, in the databases SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library on Line), LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences), Medical Literature Analysis (PubMed / MEDLINE) and Spanish Health Sciences Bibliographic Index (IBECS) according to the following eligibility criteria: studies dealing with NPIQ and its effects on cancer patients and possible prevention-related strategies and interventions, minimization and treatment of CIPNs, which included potentially neurotoxic chemotherapy in the treatment in scientific, national and international articles, published in Portuguese, English and Spanish and indexed in the databases in the last five years, including 2015 to the 2020. The final sample consisted of 10 studies published in the past 05 years. There was a small number of studies dealing with the topic, identifying the need to carry out studies of this type, due to the high incidence of NPIQ, so that prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies can be shared, with consequent improvement in quality. assistance. The more clinical practices / results are discussed, the greater the number of strategies to improve the quality of life of these patients. A quimioterapia antineoplásica representa a utilização de substâncias químicas isoladas ou combinadas no tratamento dos tumores malignos, sendo considerada uma das mais importantes formas de combater o câncer. A neuropatia periférica (NP) é uma condição clínica caracterizada pelo comprometimento de nervos sensitivos e/ou motores periféricos, que pode apresentar múltiplas causas. As principais doenças causadoras da NP são a lesão por esforço repetitivo, diabetes, lúpus eritematoso sistêmico, reumatismo, psoríase, hipotireoidismo, hanseníase, envenenamento por metais pesados e ainda, é o efeito adverso de determinados medicamentos como alguns antimicrobianos, estatinas e especialmente as drogas antineoplásicas. A neuropatia periférica induzida por quimioterapia (NPIQ) é uma síndrome neurológica que acomete principalmente pacientes que realizam tratamento com antineoplásicos como taxanos (docetaxel, paclitaxel e cabazitaxel), derivados da platina (oxaliplatina, cisplatina e carboplatina), bortezomibe e alcalóides da vinca (vimblastina, vincristina e vinorelbina). A NPIQ é a complicação neurológica mais frequente, secundária ao tratamento antineoplásico e afeta um terço dos pacientes, interferindo na funcionalidade e comprometendo a qualidade de vida. Essa NPIQ apresenta diferentes graus de toxicidade variando de acordo com o tipo de medicamento utilizado, tempo de administração e dose cumulativa. Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa sobre a neuropatia periférica induzida por quimioterapia utilizando artigos científicos publicados nas bases de dados SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library on Line), LILACS (Literatura Latino Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde), Medical Literature Analysis (PubMed/MEDLINE) e Índice Bibliográfico Espanhol de Ciências da Saúde (IBECS) de acordo com os seguintes critérios de elegibilidade: estudos que tratavam da NPIQ e seus efeitos nos pacientes oncológicos e possíveis estratégias e intervenções relacionadas à prevenção, minimização e tratamento das NPIQ, e que incluíam no tratamento os quimioterápicos potencialmente neurotóxicos no formato de artigos científicos, nacionais e internacionais, publicados nos idiomas português, inglês e espanhol e indexados nos bancos de dados nos últimos cinco anos, incluindo 2015 à 2020. A amostra final consistiu em 10 estudos publicados. Constatou-se um pequeno número de estudos que tratam sobre o tema, identificando-se a necessidade de realização de estudos desse tipo, devido a alta incidência da NPIQ, para que possam ser compartilhadas estratégias de prevenção, diagnóstico e tratamento, com consequente melhora da qualidade da assistência. Quanto mais práticas clínicas/resultados forem comentados, maior será a quantidade de estratégias para melhorar a qualidade de vida desses pacientes.

In recent years, Brazilian social welfare policies (health, social security and social assistance) have been discussed, especially social security policies. There are several arguments that point to difficulties in maintaining the social security system in the country, such as the demographic transition, the existence of a deficit in social security bills, among others. Social security, along with other security policies, has the duty to provide, through services, incomes and pensions, social protection to citizens. However, the insurance (contributory) character of the social security policy must be considered, which makes it, at times, excluding. Faced with a complex and necessary system, the question is: what are the reasons for retirement in Brazil and what are the demographic, socioeconomic and epidemiological characteristics of retirees? To answer this question, the National Sample of the Longitudinal Study of Health and Well-Being of Elderly Brazilians (ELSI-Brasil) was used, with people aged 50 years or more, developed in 2015 and 2016. This dissertation aims to describe the main reasons for retirement in Brazil, and the demographic, socioeconomic and epidemiological characteristics of retirees, in addition to comparing the prevalence of reasons for retirement stratified by sex. The methodological conduct of this study is guided by a quantitative approach, with descriptive analysis of the results, based on theoretical references about Brazilian social welfare system, with an emphasis on social security and health policies. The main results of this study showed regional disparities between the different reasons for retirement, and differences and similarities between men and women in relation to this access. It also suggests that health, work and education conditions can influence getting a more advantageous retirement, as well as contributes to early retirements, better or worse perceptions of health, access to health and living conditions in old age. Discussing and understanding social security is a decisive factor that may determine the direction of Brazilian’s social security policies, that must be defended, as they are human achievements. Nos últimos anos, tem-se discutido sobre as políticas de seguridade social (saúde, previdência social e assistência social) brasileira e, de maneira bastante enfática, sobre a política previdenciária. São diversos os argumentos que apontam dificuldades para manter o sistema previdenciário no país, como a transição demográfica, a existência de um déficit nas contas da previdência, dentre outros. A previdência social, juntamente com as outras políticas de seguridade, tem o dever de proporcionar, por meio de serviços, benefícios e aposentadorias, a proteção social aos cidadãos. Porém, deve-se considerar o caráter de seguro (contributivo) da política previdenciária, o que a torna, por vezes, excludente. Diante de um sistema complexo e necessário, questiona-se: quais os motivos de aposentadorias no Brasil e as características demográficas, socioeconômicas e epidemiológicas dos aposentados? Para responder ao questionamento acima, utilizou-se a Amostra Nacional do Estudo Longitudinal da Saúde e Bem-Estar dos Idosos Brasileiros (ELSI-Brasil), com pessoas de 50 anos ou mais, desenvolvido nos anos de 2015 e 2016. O objetivo desta dissertação é descrever os principais motivos das aposentadorias brasileiras e as características demográficas, socioeconômicas e epidemiológicas dos aposentados. Além disso, pretende-se comparar a prevalência dos motivos de aposentadorias estratificadas por sexo. A condução metodológica do estudo é orientada pela abordagem quantitativa, com análise descritiva dos resultados, a partir dos referenciais teóricos que tratam da seguridade social brasileira, com ênfase nas políticas de previdência e saúde. Os principais resultados do estudo demonstraram disparidades regionais entre os diferentes motivos de aposentadorias, e diferenças e semelhanças entre homens e mulheres em relação a este acesso. Também sugere que as condições de saúde, de trabalho e escolaridade podem influenciar no alcance a aposentadorias mais vantajosas, bem como podem contribuir para aposentadorias precoces, melhores ou piores percepções de saúde, acesso à saúde e condições de vida na velhice. Discutir e entender a seguridade é fator decisivo que poderá determinar os rumos das políticas de seguridade social brasileiras que devem ser defendidas, pois são conquistas humanas.
