In Brazil, the presence of psychology in prisons was established by the Criminal Sentence Execution Act, in 1984, and it was intensified in the past three decades. In the paper, the results of a study are discussed to understand the activity of psychologists in the prisons in Minas Gerais, based on clinical approaches to the work. We performed a qualitative research, with content analysis of documents, observations in five prisons, and interviews with 14 psychologists who work at these prisons. We verified that the role of psychology in prisons has been controversial, with different institutional intersections resulting from the security and punishment logic, which seems to frequently oppose professional ethical principles. The institutional demand for classifying prisoners overlaps with the monitoring of rehabilitation programs, set forth by law. This scenario, worsened by the lack of professionals, results in obstructions in the activity, the distress of the worker, trivialization of the violation of rights, and uncritical adhesion to the repressive mechanism of the institution. Psychological assessment in the context of transit has been evident in Psychology in recent years amid the changes in legislation and questions about its validity. So can develop and achieve their goals it is necessary to understand trends and gaps concerning what has been researched in recent years. The present study compared published articles in the database Pepsic and Scielo and papers presented in the four editions of the Brazilian Conference of Psychological Assessment. From the keywords driver, psychological assessment, transit and drives, there were selected 22 articles and 38 papers at the congress, dated between 2000 and 2009. The results showed in general, an increased interest in the area. A larger number of papers at the congress was found, in order to verify that the most of research results do not reach effectively for publication. Among the studies reviewed, there is prevalence of empirical studies focused mainly on the investigation of personality and attention, using a large variety of instruments (n = 24), most are not specific to the context of traffic, and apply in their majority in driver's candidates. The systematization of knowledge about individual's emotional aspects in amputation surgery situation is necessary, both for preparation and professional training of psychologists who act in the area and for the patients involved. This article aims at elaborating a literature review about emotional aspects in the life of patients submitted to limb amputation. The method was a literature review, prioritizing a retrospective character. The selection was based in indexers of scientific production (PePSIC, SciELO, LILACS), covering the period 2009-2014. As results, we found ten studies. There is a scarcity of publications about the theme; the majority of papers are in periodicals focused on Nursery; the studies do not include the family relations or relation doctorpatient; most of them treat about the emotional aspects of the patient during the period of postoperative. This paper aims at investigating empirical researches on therapeutic riding published between 2004 and 2014. We seek to verify characteristics of the samples, psychological constructs assessed, assessment tools, and psychological effects attributed to the processing of therapeutic riding. We analyzed twenty empirical studies, the vast majority of them were held with children and adolescents, six studies were done with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The measurement techniques mostly used were: interviewing techniques; behavioral observation; questionnaires; quality of life scales; functionality scales and specific groups scales. The most obvious results of therapeutic riding in the psychological context involved decreased anxiety and gains in social relationship. Gains in cognitive aspects were not clear. Comparing Brazilian and international studies, we have a lack of control group and of reliable measurements in both cases, but Brazil, does not seem to have a psychology culture in use research based on evidence in therapeutic riding. This study aimed to review the scientific production nationally and internationally indexed in Scielo, Pepsic, and Capes journal (Web of science, and Eric Psychinfo), between 1999 and 2009, on the relationship between morphological awareness and literacy. Empirical studies that described the relationship of morphological awareness and literacy were selected. Seventy‑six papers were identified. They were analyzed considering the following aspects: the age of the samples of interest, the countries where the publication were more frequent, the years of publication and the most frequent keywords. Papers that were excluded were literature review, papers dealing with the syntactic awareness without focusing on morphosyntactic or derivational morphology, papers with bilingual subjects, and book chapters. The results point to the need for more publications on the subject, and they show that this is a relatively new theme and many issues still need to be addressed.

The objective of this paper is to analyze government, justice and police social representations, involving popular and middle classes individuals of both sexes, residing in the Great Vitória Region. The data was collected throught semi-directed interviews with eighty-one middle-class and sixty popular class subjects. This work belongs to a more complex research, that had many results, because the data was submitted to quantitative and qualitative analysis. In this article we will discuss the low belief in those institutions which are responsible to sustain order and justice (government and police) and their relation with violence. Both classes, in a general way, seem to have the same concepts on the theme analyzed in this paper.

In this paper we aim to identify and analyze prevalent diagnosis of teachers' health problems, especially those concerning the mental health. The data are acquired of federal university research in expansion-internalization process, which analyzed the impact of the multiple demands of this process at work, related to health and subjectivity. The methodological instrument was composed of: semi-structured interviews with teachers of different areas, campuses and academic units; analysis of documents and data on the expansion; systematization of data on nonattendance due to health problems collected in consultation with the books of medical committee of the institution. We place in order the presentation of such records. On the other hand, we pointed out, to develop the scope limit of the article, qualitative aspects of the disease process and/or suffering with intersections between identified diagnoses and analysis of interviews. The increase in the use of drugs and their subjective effects are an epidemic problem for public health. This paper presents the results of a qualitative study on the subjective condition of eight young addicts that have sought help in rehabilitation clinics. The methodology of interpretive analysis of data collected from the interviews used the psychoanalytic theory. The precariousness of primordial relationships resulted in a construction of subjectivity marked by abandonment and helplessness. The understanding of the subject condition and his relation with the object drug reveals a psychic pain that meets, in the anesthesia offered by the drug, a coping strategy. It was found that the intensity of the early experiences in life, and not psychic elaborated, meet, as a form of discharge, the path of the act. The observed psychic fragility reaffirmed the necessity for an expansion of strategies of dealing with drug addiction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Law of Family Living is the current law on adoption in the country. It creates an obligation of previous qualification to adopt and considers necessary to prepare adoptive parents in psychosocial and legal ways. This paper reflects, from an experience of support group to prospective adoptive parents, about the possibility of support group works as a tool to conflict prevention between parents and the child to be adopted. We can conclude, that to welcome a child, parents need understand their own filiations, inheritances and desires and the support group can be a form of awareness and preparedness of the adoptive parents for themes that permeate the filiation process. The purpose of this paper is to present an experience report about the work of scholar psychologists in Elementary School, emphasizing the development of a teaching project. This project intended to improve the interpersonal relationship between students in a fourth grade class. Through group work, method proposed by the new pedagogy of Jean Piaget (1998), and problematizing education of Paulo Freire (1997), systematic meetings were held with students to reflect on ethical values, bullying and protection of child rights. It was observed throughout this project relationship and communication improvements between peers, what suggests that interventions have contributed to improve the relationship between students. The purpose of this research paper was to understand social representations of depression in high school adolescents in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba. The study included 11 subjects aged between 14 and 17 years with depressive symptons, selected from a group of 296 adolescents. Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) and the Semi- Structured Interview were two of the instruments used in the research, allowing results to indicate that depression is associated with feelings of sadness, such as discouragement and suicidal ideas; mostly those people without human initiatives and who don't make plans for the future. These feelings may be related to various behaviors, such as isolation, aggressiveness and difficulty to be friend someone or even establish relationships. These associations are a result of adolescents experiences, as well as information and representations linked to a youth group they belong, pointing out to the need for preventive and educational practices in educational institutions. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is characterized by severe and persistent pattern of hyperactivity and/or inattention, which is harmful. The correct assessment may be influenced by comorbidity and difficult of characterization. This paper evaluated the contribution of psychologist and psychiatrists on a correct avaliation and treatment elaboration. Ten psychologist and eight psychiatrists take part on semi-structured interview. The analysis was descriptive and qualitative. After comparing them we found that the psychologies and psychiatries of this sample contribute to the diagnostic in their specific ways and that the junctions of knowledge throw interdisciplinary work allows a better disorder comprehension and the development of a more efficient intervention plan. This paper is about the theorical methodological links between Community Psychology and Liberating Education, discussing their social ideological and ethical political proposals. It concerns an unfolding of a research conducted by the Núcleo de Psicologia Comunitária (Nucom) of the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), with the intention of contributing to the epistemological development of the theorical methodological milestone of the Community Psychology. In order to reach this aim, we made a theorical revision, exploring, in the trajectory of the constitution of Liberating Education and Community Psychology, the meeting of both theories, specifically in the Ceará state. This review is also based on theorical methodological elements that identify points of convergences and integration between both disciplines, as well as the social ideological foundations which reflect their view of the world. So, we point to a relevant epistemological consistency related to the integration of Liberating Education in the theorical milestone of Community Psychology, giving theorical methodological cohesion and ethical political coherence to this liberating psychological praxis, in the axis of theory, praxis and social compromise. The present paper deals with theoretical and methodological problems to organize transdiciplinary construction in social sciences. This is pointed out from an integrative perspective about subject in its social situation of development, a vygotskian principle that lays the foundation of such dialectical vision. This article debates empirically about the affectivity's paper in the organization of the human reasoning. The Thought Organization Models theory was utilized as the psychological foundation. It introduces part of some data of empiric research proveniences of a study of the Basic Psychology. In this research, they selected as sample 60 subjects of two schools in Campinas (São Paulo), asking them who answered to a conflictive situation in which a character asks R$10,00 to pay a mother's exam. The premise of the moral dilemma is then structured into two scenarios: the first is non-contextualized and the second is contextualized. In the noncontextualized scenario, there is no description whatsoever of the character involved in the dilemma. The contextualized scenario on the other hand, includes demonstrative affectionate descriptors both positive and negative in nature referent to the character. The third grade students responded to positive contextualized scenario and the second grade students to a negative contextualized scenario. After reading of the protocols, for discussion of the answers, were produced three analysis categories: the first corresponds help from subject to the character, the second that indicates the refusal in assist her third in which the subject does not know what to do and/or it has doubts. The data obtained substantiated that affection, found in the contextualized scenarios both negative and positive, favored the thought process of subjects, considerably modifying the manner in which it was organized in regards to the moral dilemma and to indicate a certain tendency in "if involve" with character's problem and searching thus avail her. Legal Psychology is a specialty area arising from psychology as a science, in which traditional areas of education and action such Educational, Organizational and Clinic Psychology are compared. The very feature of this specialty is its interface with Law, the legal world, which produces epistemological and conceptual encounters and disagreements that intertwine the work of a legal psychologist. The sectors of Legal Psychology are many, since the most traditional ones such as those taking place in the Courts of Law and Prison up to innovating actions such as Mediation, Psychic Autopsy (retrospective evaluation by means of third-party information). When bone marrow transplant (BMT) is added to the diagnosis of cancer, patients can experience fear, lack of understanding and insecurity. This project's aim was to identify aspects of the emotional status of 7 patients with bone marrow transplant indication. TAT cards 1 and 11 were applied in order to search for the latent aspects in the patients, and a semi-directed interview was then conducted. The use of a psychoanalytica qualitative and referencial methodology was chosen, with the estabilishment of categories encompassing the main aspects brought out in the interviews. TAT cards were analysed separately. It is noticed that fear and hope were a constant in the patient's reports, reinforcing the results from international papers. In conclusion, the pre-transplantation period is a moment of ambiguity and confusion, due to the emotional burden to which the patient is subjected. A theoretical model, with the application derived from it, born in a specific moment of social organization, has to undergo modifications to maintain its efficacy when there are organizational changes. The present paper discusses the importance of diagnosis as an instrument for comprehension of potentiais of the individual situation. The brief psychoanalytic therapy can be extended to borderline patients, with careful consideration of theoretical and technical changes and evaluation of the efficacy of the new procedures. Puerperium can be classified as a period of crisis, although it leads to great changes and to a reorganization of the family group. This article presents some instances of the clinical psychologist's intervention in hospitals and health institutions in the following arros: neonatology, hospital psychiatric, heart transplant. This article is aimed to enlarge the discussion about both the indications and limitations of the brief psychodynamic psychotherapies as well as the possibilities in the technical management which are permitted by them. In order to establish the bases to discuss the psychic change mechanisms, the paper coments the meaning of the therapeutic process and the intended objectives in the psychotherapy. This discussion offers a broad view on the curative factors pointed out in different forms of brief psychodynamic psychotherapies, including both the more restrictives in their indications and the wider ones. The conclusion points out the importance on emphasizing the more suitable curative factors to the resources presented by both therapist and patient to achieve an attainable objective. The aim of this paper was to study the psychodynamics of the Social Representations (RS) of obesity and the importance in the relaction between patient and endocrinologists from public hospitals. The interviews were carried on with ten endocrinology doctors from public medical institutions (five female and five male doctors) aged between twenty-eight and forty-four. Their specialization period ranged from two to eighteen years. The interviews were semi structured, in the sense that they had been given a minimal pre-structure, thus allowing the interviews to be spontaneous and express himself freely and easily. The techniques used were projective techniques, with general and wide-ranging questions. The theme, obesity, was expected to arise spontaneously during the course of the interview. The data handling based on the psychodynamic frames of reference, followed a qualitative approach. The study here presented leads to the conclusion that an individual doctor interprets the ideologies about obesity which circulate among people in our society. Learning social skills can occur naturally, but when this doesn’t occur, it is necessary to create conditions for such learning. One such condition is the use of different resources (books, videos, games) associated or not with social skills programs. This paper describes the process and product of making a video in which the main character (Bia) presents models of social skills alternatives on six demands: make request to her mother, refuse offer of a ride, to resolve a fight among friends, helping an old lady to cross street, request and negotiate to get ice cream, and make calls. The stages of pre-production, production, filming and post production of video are described, and the indicators of internal and external validity later obtained are analyzed.

This paper’s purpose is to verify the stress level in military policemen. To do this, Symptoms and Stress inventory for Adults from lipp ( iSS l) data was used. Thirty eight active policemen of both sexes, male and female and over eighteen years old, from a Battalion unit in the south of Minas Gerais, were submitted to the research. Among them, forty five percent presented a certain level of stress, predominating the resistance phase. The military policemen who presented the highest level of stress according to gender were females; on the other hand, considering duty, we had policemen working with administration activities present the most stress, and according to age, the major concentration of stress was observed in policemen between twenty five and forty one years old. In a psychological aspect, these professionals need more attention considering that the stress level they experience is so high.

This paper presents the methodological procedure adopted in the research Process of work in health: analysis and development of ways of doing and living in care relations, bringing the lived experience of researchers in the empirical field. The methodological procedures have its foundations on the concepts of Clinical Activity and Occupational health. it is proposed that the activities of work analysis are discussed, coordinated and carried out by an expanded research group, which involved researchers from academia, and professional service in focus, providing a combination of different knowledges. The object of research is the activity of nursing at the hospital Universitario Antonio Pedro, linked to the Federal Fluminense University. The results obtained from the characterization of the team and observation the activity in three sectors shall guide the future paths of research.

The dichotomy within the desire of staying or getting out of the hospital seems to be part of many user’s life whom are attended by mental health services. Thus, this paper intends to reflect on this issue, highlighting the main problems reported by some users when they were admitted to a psychiatric hospital in São Paulo, between the years 2005 and 2007, and the content analysis sustained from the perspective of social constructionism. It was concluded that the lack of a support network integrated extramural, and recurrent hospitalizations, hinder social reintegration and open space for the “want to stay in hospital”. However, this supposed desire, not without suffering. The statements marked by sorrowful faces, slips of the tongue or tears, calls for the reconstruction of their citizenship and autonomy, the only possible conditions to “can” go out.

This paper aims at analysing working conditions and organization of public basic school teachers in João Pessoa (PB). To do so we departed from a multidiciplinary approach: activity ergonomy and psycho-dynamics of working under a gender social relations viewpoint. Alongside this research we made use of activity observation and formed communities expanded search. In regard to the research participants, a group of forty professionals from three different schools collaborated with the investigation. When it comes to the analysis of the produced data, we observed that the main reason why theses professionals chose the educational workfield is deeply rooted in gender social relations and socio-economic conditions. We also verified certain discrepancies between the job description and the work actually done by theses professionals. However, it was noticed that despite the difficulties encountered in work situations, the teachers through the use of their sensitivity and creativity, develop various forms of regulation of the activity, giving new ways to work and inventing different ways to link to it.

This study aims to describe its production, in addition to identify/discuss classification criteria of this journal. The results of the analysis of 213 papers published between 1999‑2009 shows that 2002 there is a predominance of authors associated to other institutions (81%). Of the total 213 articles, 19% are institutional authorship. Articles with empirical data became majority since 2003. Topics related to treatment and prevention in psychology and to social psychology were the most frequent and the average processing time was less than five months. The journal has qualis B1, according to Webqualis Capes, ranking among the top 33% in psychology.

This paper presents a study had aimed to investigate the relevant variables in the process of emergence of minimal unit control and recombinative reading, with five preschool children. Using Equiv software, relations between oral and printed word (AC) were taught; afterwards, textual behavior of novel words were tested, which were composed by minimal units of the words taught previously. The program consisted of twenty experimental phases, divided into four basic types: Pretest, Pre- training, Training and Post- Test. The results showed that three participants presented recombinative reading closer to 100% correct performances, indicating transfer of discriminative functions of the minimal units trained to new words. In Post-Tests, all participants developed repertoire of naming oral words and syllables that weren’t able to name before. In Equivalence Tests applied in the final phase, the same three participants obtained performance closer to 100%, indicating reading comprehension. The results of these study point that the absence of training relations between oral word and picture (AB) and Equivalence Tests, didn’t inhibit the emergence of control by minimal units, suggesting economy in the procedures of recombinative reading. Hence, the quicker installment of minimal verbal units control than previous studies generates theoretical questions and suggests future researches in this direction.

The present study aimed to analyze the Psychological scientific production about eating disorders and body image in adolescents from 2003 to 2007. The process became with an computerized search at the PsycInfo’s database, for it was used as keywords “body image”, “eating disorders”, and “adolescence”. From this search were extracted the abstracts and complements, which were organized into thematic categories purposed by Bardin (2008). The results allowed to identify that the number of publications remained stable over the years which has being analyzed, as well as United states and Australia were the countries that had the majority of articles published. The empirical studies had stress and were published in specialized papers of the area, as the Eating Disorders: The Journal of Treatment and Prevention and the Eating and Weight Disorders. Among the subjects studied, there were highlights for the assessment of eating disorders’ risk factors, emphasizing the females and adolescent population.

One of the main difficulties in children with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) is social interaction. Eye tracking research in PDD population has shown the possibility of quantifying their social phenotype. The objective of the present paper is to access differences on perception of social pictures (faces) and non-social pictures (objects) for people with PPD and people with normal development. The research included eleven male individuals with PDD that were age, gender and intectually pared with a control group. Tobii® 1750 was the computerized equipment used to register the eye tracking movements. The perceptual pattern of individuals with PDD had more omissions (t[20] = 2,362; p = 0.028) and less use of organized tracking strategies (t[20] = 4,249; p < 0.000). Analysis of the tracking pattern revealed that PDD subjects tended to be less organized when exploring the pictures leading to perception omissions. These patterns are important to understand social patterns in persons with PDD.

Both the theoretical corpus of intercultural clinical psychology (ethnopsychiatry) and its clinical practice have identified certain analogies between torture and terrorism, particularly in the action dynamic and in certain effects such as traumatism. And yet, at the Sapsir (Service d’Aide Psychologique Spécialisée aux Immigrants et Réfugiés at Université Laval, Canada) refugees and torture victims often do not show the expected symptoms of exposure to extreme situations. The case study related in this paper, show that important variables appear to be a strong attachment to a cultural identity and an active sense of belonging to the reference group. These cultural elements favour the psychological protection of the individual and maintain an internal sense of security by placing the individual in a rich, meaningful cultural universe, and giving him the status of an active subject rather than a passive victim.

This paper derives from a psychoanalytical piece of research about an important clinical phenomenon that articulates depersonalization and derealization, which, according to Winnicott, are known as the “inability to feel alive and real”. This is a typical phenomenon found in borderline and psychotic clinical profiles, the manifestations of which have demonstrated to be frequent in contemporary society. The analytical object in use was a psychoanalytical narrative employed in the movie picture known as Fight club understood as a fictional human event. Seven diverse fields were created/found as parts of a greater field – “to be or not to be”. By establishing a dialogue with Winnicott and Bauman, it was possible to conclude that the clinical issue in question is intimately concerned with the new forms of organizing the liquid-modern society, which paradoxically develop a certain type of individualism while they make it hard to personal growth in a sense of developing one’s ability of feeling alive, real and able to provide spontaneous gesture to transform the self and the world.

Despite being in close contact with one another, the Clinical area and the Psychological Evaluation one are not always harmoniously related. The knowledge produced by both of them is often contradictory. The present paper deals with one of these situations which refers to the diagnosis of a patient who speaks with a stutter. Although the Psychological Evaluation claims that the use of oral techniques with such patients is inadequate, the Clinical one has revealed the harm caused to them when they are prevented from speaking. The evaluation of a patient who is not fluent is presented – it has been carried out through an interview and a Drawings-Stories Procedure. The data have been analyzed under a psychoanalytical reference which has been added to studies that refer to the subjective dimension of the stutter. The evaluation has revealed contents related to the patient’s psychic condition such as suffering and pathological benefits. There has been a debate over the limitations and potentialities of the Drawings-Stories Procedure in the understanding of the subjectivity of the person who is not fluent, as well as the therapeutic benefits with which it has provided the patient.

This paper is about the theorical methodological links between Community Psychology and Liberating Education, discussing their social ideological and ethical political proposals. It concerns an unfolding of a research conducted by the Núcleo de Psicologia Comunitária (Nucom) of the Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC), with the intention of contributing to the epistemological development of the theorical methodological milestone of the Community Psychology. In order to reach this aim, we made a theorical revision, exploring, in the trajectory of the constitution of Liberating Education and Community Psychology, the meeting of both theories, specifically in the Ceará state. This review is also based on theorical ethodological elements that identify points of convergences and integration between both disciplines, as well as the social ideological foundations which reflect their view of the world. So, we point to a relevant epistemological consistency related to the integration of Liberating Education in the theorical milestone of Community Psychology, giving theorical methodological cohesion and ethical political coherence to this liberating psychological praxis, in the axis of theory, praxis and social compromise.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is characterized by severe and persistent pattern of hyperactivity and/or inattention, which is harmful. The correct assessment may be influenced by comorbidity and difficult of characterization. This paper evaluated the contribution of psychologist and psychiatrists on a correct avaliation and treatment elaboration. Ten psychologist and eight psychiatrists take part on semi-structured interview. The analysis was descriptive and qualitative. After comparing them we found that the psychologies and psychiatries of this sample contribute to the diagnostic in their specific ways and that the junctions of knowledge throw interdisciplinary work allows a better disorder comprehension and the development of a more efficient intervention plan.

This paper aims to present and analyze the reformist movement in economic modeling that serves to better predict patterns of choice over time. Based on a vast literature shedding light on the mutual gains of exchange between economists and psychologists, we argue that behavioral models that replace the constant (exponential) discounting with that of hyperbolic (nonconstant) time preference discounting contribute to a better understanding of various intertemporal choice anomalies and eventually pave the way for the explanatory (and predictive) progress of contemporary economic analysis.

Three aspects are discussedin this paperin terms of a cognitive-behavioral approach: 1. couple conflict; 2. child psychological disturbance; 3. clinical implications of a relation between these two items. Evidences of a couple conflict that may lead to psychological assistance is the start point of this paper. Further, psychological assessment indications are presented in order to help clinical psychologist to tell if there is or not conflict on a couple that brings a child to therapy. Parent’s perceptions of a “difficult child” in contrast to an “easy child” are the start to make the distinction between child internalizing and externalizing disturbance and their determinants. In continuation, it is established a distinction between causal factors directly and indirectly linked to a problematic behavior as it is a couple conflict, for instance. It is concluded that, to have a proper treatment defined to the child, it is necessary one accurate diagnosis and assessment. That will be comprehensive, it means, not restricted on child immediate context, and enlarged sufficiently to reach macro system, where his parents are included.

This paper aims to analyze the concepts and images constructed by health professionals regarding the Brazilian health public policy (SUS). They were studied hundred professionals which worked in five public health institutions in Rio de Janeiro. The contents of semi-structured interviews were submitted to the crossing technique of lexical analysis provided by ALCESTE 4.7 software. Results evidenced the following definitions associated to the SUS: a normative and ruling organ law for health actions; an advanced model of health care; a health security plan for facilitate access to health services; an integrated health system to assist the population; an unique and equalitarian system of health care; a citizen’s right and a state’s duty; a system that does not generate the products that it should. The concepts associated to the SUS involve both objective knowledge and subjective constructions by the professionals’ group. Nevertheless, its understanding and definition by the social subjects does not follow the same unity that is present in its philosophical proposal.

The aim of this study was to standard and assign validity and reliability of the Trauma Symptom Checklist for Children – TSCC-A. Normative data for the TSCC-A were based on 3042 students participating in a prevalence child abuse study in 19 different locations of Tehran and 140 participants who had been referred to the run away children centers in Tehran. After the TSCC was validated on run away and abused children, it was made available to researchers doing larger studies on normative group. Reliability analysis of the TSCC-A scales in the normative sample demonstrated high internal consistency. The evidence for its validations (convergent, discriminate and construct validity) showed that they were significantly acceptable. This paper presents data demonstrating the psychometric reliability and validity of the TSCC-A scales in Iranian student population. We suggest to include the TSCC-A in a battery of relevant standardized tests.

In this paper are presented the results of one inquiry oriented to study the way in which the concept of social representation influences on the process of subjectivation of the illness in persons with cancer and hypertension. Social representations are redefined from a historical – cultural comprehension about subjectivity. It is defended the subjective sense dimension in the ontological definition of the social representations. As a consequence of this definition, the inquiry is developed on the basis of a qualitative approach oriented by a constructive interpretative principle. This methodological definition permits the theoretical construction of the consequences of the social representations on the processes of subjectivation of the illness in the participants.

Research on intimate violence has pointed out the importance of prevention in younger populations. Two experiences of dating violence prevention are described. Aims: (1) promoting the acquisition of knowledge about this problem, (2) enabling youths to recognize abuse in close relationships; (3) producing changes in cultural beliefs that support violence; (4) providing generic abilities to manage situations of dating violence; (5) informing about resources in the community. The beliefs of the participants were assessed in two moments - pre-test and post-test - and in one of the programs it was also possible to include a follow-up evaluation. The qualitative evaluation of the program made by the participants was also considered. The evaluation of these interventions shows that the intervention reduces the level of tolerance towards violence in both males and females. At the end of the paper major limitations are discussed, as well strategies to minimize these problems in future research.

The present paper deals with theoretical and methodological problems to organize transdiciplinary construction in social sciences. This is pointed out from an integrative perspective about subject in its social situation of development, a vygotskian principle that lays the foundation of such dialectical vision. Psychology plays an important role in that production, as an integrative science (natural-social). These problems are analyzed not only from contemporary epistemological requirements of science development, but also from practical needs of cultural and social progress. Complexity standpoint offers not less important tools for mentioned aims.
