This study aims at indentifying causes of the student violence as perceived by university students in public and private universities. Data for this study were collected from a random sample of 572 undergraduate students through a questionnaire in the academic year 2011/2012. Findings of the study revealed that the most common causes of student violence in campus were: - Students' enrollment in the universities with low grades in high school. - Poor investing of free time and lack of extra-curricular activities. - High competition among students during election time. - The feelings of students toward university rules and regulations as being unjust. - Fanaticism towards tribe, relatives and friends. - The weakness of moral and religious motive among university students. Finally, proposed solutions to reduce violence include launching awareness campaigns among students concerning the negative aspects of student violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
