Air transport is a sector that connects the world in the most unique and safest way, creating huge value for the global economy. Airlines are a key component of this sector. Air disasters, terrorist attacks or a pandemic can bring airlines to the brink of bankruptcy. These emergencies create the need for an airline to have an emergency plan in place to ensure business continuity. Drawing on specific literature, the factors influencing the assessment of airline business continuity decisions are examined in the context of COVID-19. The study seeks to find out what the airlines' intentions were when making strategic decisions. The study analyses the decisions taken by the airlines in order to achieve business continuity, using a systematic approach, combined with a case study approach, and systematises the factors influencing the evaluation of the decisions. Cultural heritage buildings are an important origin of a country's cultural memory, originality, and attractiveness, which motivated cultural growth, economic development, and social employment. However, cultural heritage buildings threaten to decay regarding the contributing poor funding for cultural heritage buildings preservation and maintenance, increasing urbanization changes. The adaptive reuse of cultural heritage buildings is one of the reasons, helping to preserve heritage buildings. This paper submits qualitative and quantitative criteria and subcriteria for the adaptive reuse of cultural heritage buildings. Memento value in heritage is one of the most essential characteristics facilitating the association between the environment and its users, by connecting structures with space and time, moreover, it helps people to identify their surroundings. However, the emergence of the Modern Movement in the architectural sphere disrupted the reflection of memory and symbols which serve to root the society in its language. Furthermore, it generated an approach that stood against the practice of referring to the past and tradition, which led to the built environment becoming homogeneous and deprived of memento value. This paper focuses on the impact of memento value on the perception and evaluation of cultural heritage. Furthermore, it investigates the notions which are perceived to influence the appraisal of cultural heritage by applying them to the Kaunas dialect of the Modern Movement with an empirical approach. The article analyzes the concept of corporate social responsibility, its assessment methods, indicators and guidelines on standards. This work also presents the analysis of Lithuanian construction sector, examines the largest companies in this area, their possibility to develop the corporate social responsibility initiative, as well as the main difficulties in implementing the principles of social responsibility. The results show that in Lithuanian construction sector the high-income companies and companies that compete in the market over 15 years do not fully use the possibility of the development of global corporate social responsibility initiative. The article deals with the content of taxation justice, it's value and compatibility with other principles of taxation, analyses the features of the Lithuanian tax system formation. The article examines the conception of social responsibility and it's possibilities for assessment too. The research findings show that the principle of taxation justice is implemented only partially in Lithuania. The assessment of social responsibility through quantitative and qualitative indexes shows that some of its principles in Lithuania are being implemented more successful. However, it should be noted that significant amounts of funds for these initiatives and projects are received from the EU. Recently, physical activity and physical education has become an integral part of the human and the most important tool for increasing health condition that can liberate from passivity, floppiness and the overload of mental work. The conducted research is focused on determining indexes for physical activity and development of VGTU and MRU students and on evaluating variations in the applied indicators. The surveyed participants represent the faculties of Environmental Engineering, Mechanics, Electronics, Fundamental Sciences, Transport Engineering of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) and the faculties of Law, Social Technologies, Policy and Management, Finances and Economic Management of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). For evaluating the physical condition of the students, Eurofit tests were used: standing long jump for examining the explosive power of legs, hanging with bent arms for testing the endurance of arm power, the crunch for measuring the strength and stamina of abdominal muscles, the flamingo exercise for checking balance, teping for checking the speed of upper limb motion, pressing a hand for measuring static power, etc. The carried out first testing has disclosed that MRU students are the tallest and make (184.6 (4.2) cm), whereas weight indexes of the surveyed VGTU and MRU students are almost the same. The majority of the participants from VGTU (80.9%) and MRU (88.24%) had normal body weight, and only 14.1% and 11.76% respectively had overweight. During the period between testing, VGTU students statistically (p < 0.001) improved the speed of upper limb motion, the relative force of the hand, the endurance of arms and shoulders. MRU students increased indexes of the stamina of the dynamic strength of abdominal muscles, endurance, agility and the strength of the left and right hand as well as flexibility characteristics. The examined participants showed higher results of the flamingo exercise, crunch and hanging (p < 0.001) than those from other Lithuanian higher education institutions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A large number of economic, financial, social, technological, ecological, environmental and other indicators define the effectiveness of the investment process. According to some of the indicators, the alternative new venture companies are suitable for putting them into investment, according to others, they are not. It becomes difficult to choose the optimal investment in the new venture, as all of them have very poor accounting data or still do not have any. Therefore, there is a lack of valuation methods, which could evaluate start-ups without having any accounting data. The purpose of this article is to propose an evaluation model which could help to choose the optimal new venture to fund. Multi-criteria methods, used in the evaluation process, enable to get objective answers about the effectiveness of the optimal new venture comprehensively by presenting some generalized indicators and considering both quantitative and qualitative data. The start-ups evaluating method proposed by the authors has both theoretical and practical advantages: the extensive analysis can be carried out; the different classification of the evaluation criteria is possible; the weights of the criteria are evaluated (importance, significance), and the possibility to include the new evaluation criteria and their employment in practice are considered. The obtained empirical results comparing two Lithuanian start-ups show that the proposed method could be used for evaluating complex processes of the optimal new venture investments, and could be adapted for various situations. Assessment and evaluation are among the essential functions performed by an educator. What is more, they are closely related to the communication of the teaching process efficiency in terms of verification of learner and educator expectations, determination of learning and teaching quality achievement, and generalization of educational activities. The present study aims at the analysis of assessment techniques applied in the master degree linguistic studies. Initially, a brief theoretical overview of both formal and informal assessment methods is provided, with the focus on their distinctive features and ways of application in the light of Bloom's taxonomy and Dublin description representing the competence requirements set for the gain of definite skills. Further, the results of the survey (conducted at Kaunas Faculty of Humanities, Vilnius University) are described. The paper considers the problem of fire safety assurance by means of fire risk indexing and fire risk assessment. Attention is focused on the comparison of these two principal approaches and the possibilities of applying them in a combined set. The paper is aimed at defining, comparing and analyzing fire safety assessment by applying the aforementioned approaches. The practicability of both approaches is compared by means of an example considering fire safety of an existing office building. It is stated that fire risk indexing is more practicable than formal risk assessment despite all shortcomings of the former approach. Industrial and transport activities are the two major sources of noise pollution in any metropolitan city. Lucknow city, the capital of the largest populated state Uttar Pradesh in India has an area of 310 sq. km and is rapidly growing as a commercial, industrial and trading centre of northern India. The population of Lucknow city as per census 2001 is 22.45 Lacs. It is expected that by the year 2021 it will make 45 Lacs. The total vehicle population in Lucknow city on 31 March 2008, was nearly 1 million with almost 80% two wheelers, 12% cars, 1.36% three wheelers, 0.45% buses etc. A study was carried out to assess the existing status of noise levels and its impacts on the environment with a possibility of further expansion of the city. Ambient noise levels were measured at different locations selected on the basis of land use such as silence, heavy traffic and residential and commercial zones. It was found that noise levels at all selected locations were much higher (75-90 dB) than the prescribed limits. The observed traffic volume and data on road geometry were used to predict noise levels using Federal Highway Administration Agency (FHWA) model and the calculated noise levels were compared with the observed levels for checking the suitability of this model for predicting the future levels. It was established that the results obtained by FHWA model were very close to the observed noise levels and that the model was suitable to be used for other similar metropolitan cities in India. Practical tasks related to property management and disposal in energy companies can be solved only if the actual property value of these companies is known. Traditional practical property valuation methods are based on the analysis of incurred property development costs or financial indicators of activities and are inadequate to account for the influence of environment factors on corporate activities and, in turn, on the value of companies. An analysis model for environment factors affecting energy companies was developed to improve objectiveness of valuation; through analysis of the model's components it is possible to analyse external macro, meso and microenvironment of a particular company and to assess efficiency of such environment, as well as the impact of separate factors on value. A criteria system developed using the Analysis Model for Environment Factors and the Decision Support System for Measurement of Effect of Environment Factors on Value of Energy Companies, which was developed by the authors, were used to solve a practical task, which helped to evaluate the effectiveness of the Model of Environment Factors. The practical task included measurement of the utility degree and market value of the selected electricity companies and assessment of the impact of the criteria, which affect the environment, on the value of the selected energy companies. This study proposes an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model and a Genetic Algorithm (GA) model to estimate the number of accidents (A), fatalities (F) and injuries (I) in Ankara, Turkey, utilizing the data obtained between 1986 and 2005. For model development, the number of vehicles (N), fatalities, injuries, accidents and population (P) were selected as model parameters. In the ANN model, the sigmoid and linear functions were used as activation functions with the feed forward-back propagation algorithm. In the GA approach, two forms of genetic algorithm models including a linear and an exponential form of mathematical expressions were developed. The results of the GA model showed that the exponential model form was suitable to estimate the number of accidents and fatalities while the linear form was the most appropriate for predicting the number of injuries. The best fit model with the lowest mean absolute errors (MAE) between the observed and estimated values is selected for future estimations. The comparison of the model results indicated that the performance of the ANN model was better than that of the GA model. To investigate the performance of the ANN model for future estimations, a fifteen year period from 2006 to 2020 with two possible scenarios was employed. In the first scenario, the annual average growth rates of population and the number of vehicles are assumed to be 2.0 % and 7.5%, respectively. In the second scenario, the average number of vehicles per capita is assumed to reach 0.60, which represents approximately two and a half-fold increase in fifteen years. The article presents some methodological and practical recommendations for the assessment of non-formal and informal learning achievements at university studies. The stages of the assessment and recognition of non-formal and informal learning described are very important while performing the procedure of the assessment and recognition of non-formal and informal learning which according to the functions can be classified into two types: administrative and assessment. The role of the institution which provides validation and accreditation of non-formal and informal learning is very important, that is why the centre which is responsible for this kind of validation and accreditation should take responsibility starting from the initial phase when it has to provide the precise information about any possibility to have one's knowledge and skills assessed and finishing with the help to implement the recommendations that the commission gives to the candidate. Vehicles are burning fuels inefficiently. Nowadays, there is a strong correlation between CO2 emission and climate change. The article estimates a theoretical environmental impact of biofuel mixtures on the transport sector. A high ratio of road transportation in CO2 emission caused by humanity made necessary to research the estimation of the environmental impact of biofuel mixtures. We have to clarify the emission of the transport sector in order to get information about the role of the impact that is a further step to a sustainable society. Sustainable development is a kind of development where the pace of technical development, the satiation of increasing supply and the raw materials and resources of the Earth are poised so that the rate of living and the opportunities of the future generations should not decline. One of the major goals of transport policy of the European Union is sustainable mobility. For this reason, transportation systems must be developed and standardized and the effectiveness of transportation service must be increased while environmental pollution must be decreased or prevented. There is a justifiable demand put forward by the society to moderate the environmental impacts caused by road transportation. The higher life quality standards, the changes of habits and new well-being requirements have led to an increase in the demand for housing. Decision-making problems in construction management often involve a complex decisionmaking process in which multiple requirements and conditions have to be taken into consideration simultaneously. However, not every attribute used in multidimensional scaling is equally and precisely weighted in the real world. Thus quantitative and qualitative assessments are often required to deal with uncertainty, subjective and imprecise data. The accuracy of performance measures in common multi-attribute methods is usually assumed to be accurate. Grey theory is a new technique for performing prediction, relational analysis and decision-making in many areas. This paper considers the application of grey relations methodology for defining the utility of an alternative and is proposed as a method of multiple criteria COmplex PRoportional ASsessment of alternatives with Grey relations (COPRAS-G). In this model parameters of the alternatives are determined by the grey relational grade and are expressed in intervals. A case study of assessing external walls of four alternatives was used to demonstrate the applicability and the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The main factors in the overall quality of teaching and learning are learner's ability to self-assessone's progress and accomplishments, evaluation of learning outcomes and assessment of teaching quality. This paper addresses research into the idea of continuity of quality issues in teaching and learning through learner self-assessment of language skills and language knowledge, formal evaluation of learner performance in English for Specific Purposes, and evaluation of teaching by learners. The paper presents the main factors influencig the needs for the evaluation and recognitionofnon-formaland informal learning achievements: learning motivation, the level of learner's autonomy and a detailed analysis of individual learner's needs. The objective of this article is to propose a methodology that would enable to rank residential areas according to the indices of sustainable development and to establish the rank of their priorities. The task was framed basing on the survey performed by RAIT (Market analysis and group of survey) for evaluation of the most desirable residential area in Vilnius city. Vilnius residents took part in this survey. Only Vilnius city residential areas and their characteristic indices were sorted out from the survey performed by RAIT. A system of 22 indices defining the sustainability aspects was compiled. Residential areas were evaluated for their facilities, residential and business environment. On the basis of the surveys performed by experts, the significances of indices were determined. Application of multipurpose evaluation method COPRAS (Complex Proportional Assessment) led to establishment of the rank of priorities of residential areas in respect of their sustainability. The main purpose of this article is sustainability evaluation of Vilnius development by comparing the selected city's neighbourhoods. Firstly, all neighbourhoods of Vilnius are being grouped according to particular features. For a comprehensive comparative analysis the group of ten neighbourhoods has been chosen. They are “Fabijoniškės”, “Justiniškės”, ”Karoliniškės”, “Lazdynai”, ”Pašilaičiai”, ”Pilaitė”, ”Šeškinė”, ”Verkiai, “Viršuliškės” and “Žirmūnai”. A thorough literature analysis was carried out and the system of twelve indicators has been developed. This system characterises business environment (economic indicators), quality of life (social indicators) and infrastructure (engineering-technical indicators). Values and weights of indicators were set up by questioning experts and analysing various information sources. Due to the complexity of the problem under consideration the game theory has been applied, specifically, Hurwicz, Laplace, Hodges and Lehmen rules. Calculations according to these rules by LEVI 3.0 software have been performed.
