The descriptive geometry constitues the foundation of the engineering sciences, so necessary to the specialists of this field. The aim of this paper is to establish the intersection curve between two cylinders and their unfoldings, by using the programmes:AutoCAD and Mathematica. We used the classical method and we first establish the intersection curve and then the cylinders unfoldings. To do this, we used the AutoCAD program. The same unfoldings can be obtained by introducing directly the curve equations (which are inferred) in Mathematica program.

Ankle fracture is one of the most common fractures in adults and among pregnant women. In pregnancy, the treatment must be prompt because of the risks and complications that could involve both mother and fetus. In this article, we reported the management of a patient with a bimalleolar fracture in pregnancy, its treatment, and evolution.

With the growth of the aging population worldwide, osteoporosis represents a serious health problem, which implies higher morbidity and costs, despite the continuous advances in treatment options. It involves both sexes, although menopausal women are mainly affected. This article is a brief review of literature on current osteoporosis treatment options.

In this paper the deformation state of a circular and isotropic plate is analyzed, using as methods of comparison the analytical, the finite element and the experimental element methods. In the finite element method, the plate is analyzed by several programmes, as well as assembled with the respective container.

Morphological variability of paranasal sinuses is well known for endoscopic surgeons and anatomists alike. The ethmoid sinus is the most complex and variable of all paranasal sinuses, due to the fact that its development is not yet well known and is influenced by many factors. Volumetric studies of the sinuses have been made using dried skulls, cadaver heads and imaging studies, but there are still not sufficient data in order to name a standard value for each sinus. Few data can be found especially regarding the ethmoid sinus. In this paper, we measured the volumes of ethmoid lateral masses, and for anterior and posterior groups of cells, using imaging studies and a volumetric feature of our imaging studies. Results showed an average volume between 7.34 cm3 and 8.39 cm3 for the ethmoid lateral mass, between 4.33 cm3 and 4.92 cm3 for the anterior ethmoid and between 3.01 cm3 and 3.47 cm3 for the posterior ethmoid groups. We also found that the average volume of the anterior ethmoid occupies between 58-59% of the whole volume, while the posterior ethmoid occupies only 41-42% of this volume.

From breast malignant tumors, bone is the most frequent site of metastasis. Bone metastases from breast cancer are correlated with pathological fractures, spinal cord compression and other skeletal-related events as well as bone pain and hypercalcemia. These lead to impaired mobility, decreased quality of life, and overall decrease in survival. Clarification of mechanisms regulating bone metastasis has advanced greatly in the last years and this has translated into plentiful unused therapeutic options. Greater understanding of the pathophysiology of bone metastases has led to the detection and clinical efficiency of bone-targeted agents. This review summarizes the key evidence for current clinical practice and future directions.

Introduction. Cervical cancer is the third most common malignancy in women with gynecological pathology. Most of the times, patients are admitted to hospital in advanced stages, with multiple secondary metastases. Case report. We report the case of a 70-year-old patient initially admitted in the Orthopedic Department of University Emergency Hospital in Bucharest with suspicion of pubis fracture. After clinical, imagistic and paraclinical evaluation, cervical cancer was suspected and the patient was transferred to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of University Emergency Hospital in Bucharest in order to identify etiology of the multiple secondary metastases. CT examination revealed liver determinations as well as pelvic lymphadenopathy, accompanied by suggestive neoplastic transformation of the cervix and invasion of the uterine body, parameters, and bladder; inferior branch of the pubis, and bilateral pubis, with a suggestive side-by-side aspect, were also distinguished from osteolysis. Histopathological examination following a cervical biopsy revealed non-keratinized squamous carcinoma with secondary imagistic findings, placing this case in FIGO IVB stage. Conclusions. Due to the insidious evolution, cervical cancer can reach advanced stages. The prognosis of patients with advanced stage cervical cancer and bone secondary determinations is reserved.

Ovarian carcinoma is a deadly disease, with one of the highest case-to-fatality ratio amongst all gynecological malignancies. The high mortality of these tumors can be explained by the fact that most patients present at an advanced stage, with widely spread metastatic disease, especially within the peritoneal cavity. Extraperitoneal, occult metastases are usually rare in cancer surviving patients. Bone metastases are not a common finding, but their incidence seems to be higher than expected, as proven by autopsy studies. Because most clinicians are not very familiar with bone metastases of ovarian carcinoma, in this article we intended to discuss the most controversial aspects concerning the diagnosis of this type of disease.
