Abstract Background Usage of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has prolonged the overall survival (OS) of patients with extensive‐stage small‐cell lung cancer (ES‐SCLC). In clinical trials, males accounted for a large proportion, leading to the uncertainty of its efficacy in female patients. We therefore conducted this study to explore the efficacy and safety of using ICIs in female patients with ES‐SCLC. Methods We retrospectively enrolled female SCLC patients and subdivided them into two groups. Group A (n = 40) was defined as ES‐SCLC patients who received first‐line standard chemotherapy with or without ICIs. Group B (n = 47) included relapsed SCLC patients who were administered with second‐line therapies. Kaplan–Meier methodology was used to calculate survival analysis. Chi‐squared tests were used to analyze the incidence of adverse events (AEs). Results Median progression‐free survival (PFS) and median OS favored the ICI‐contained cohorts (Group A PFS: 8.3 vs. 6.1 months; OS: not reached vs. 11.3 months; Group B PFS: 15.1 vs. 3.3 months; OS: 35.3 vs. 8.3 months), especially in those patients who received second‐line immunotherapies. Patients who received immunotherapy had a slightly higher incidence rate of grade ≥3 AEs (Group A: 71.4% vs. 46.2%; Group B: 44.5% vs. 13.2%). Those who developed grade ≥3 AEs in first‐line ICIs cohort had a more favorable survival (PFS: 8.3 vs. 3.2 months; OS: not reached vs. 5.1 months). Conclusions Our study suggested that female ES‐SCLC patients treated with immunotherapy tended to achieve a relatively longer survival. The incidence of AEs (grade ≥3) was higher in women patients receiving ICIs, which requires monitoring more closely.

Abstract The salient object detection task tries to simulate the human visual system for most eye‐catching objects or regions detection. However, due to the complexity of the visual mechanisms, current methods will suffer from severe performance degradation, leading to inconsistent prediction results for the same regions, when directly adopting a model trained on a fixed resolution to evaluate at other different resolutions. Considering that consistency in predictions is essential for salient object detection, a cross‐scale resolution consistent salient object detection method, called RCNet, is proposed. Specifically, to enhance the model's capacity for generalization across images of varying resolutions and make the model implicitly learn the scale invariance, a multi‐resolution data enhancement module is constructed to generate images with arbitrary resolutions for the same scene. Moreover, to accomplish better multi‐level feature fusion, a cross‐scale fusion module is developed to fuse high‐level semantic features and low‐level detail features. Additionally, to explicitly learn the scale invariance of the salient scores, a hybrid salient consistency loss is formulated on salient object detection with different resolutions. Comprehensive evaluations on five benchmark datasets show that RCNet achieves a highly competitive result.

Abstract LLC series resonant converter (LLC‐SRC) has attracted much attention due to its simple circuit structure and easy realization of soft‐switching. To get a better efficiency, rectifier stage can be realized by the active switches instead of the diodes. Meanwhile, more control variables can be selected besides the switching frequency, such as single phase shifted (SPS) angle, dual phase shifted (DPS) angle, and extended phase shifted (EPS) angle. Considering the simplicity of the implementation of the control strategy, this paper focused on the converter model with frequency and SPS control. Different from the common modelling method with the Fundamental Harmonic Approximation (FHA), the precise time‐domain mathematic model is built. By a comparison between the two modelling results, it can be proved the FHA model may be failure in some operating condition while the proposed time‐domain model can still show a good accuracy. According to the proposed model, two simple fixed‐frequency SPS control strategies are proposed. The first one can realize infinite soft‐switching margin with no restrictions on the transformer magnetizing inductance. The second one can greatly improve the efficiency of the converter. All the theoretical results are verified by a 1‐kW experiment prototype.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the prevalence of and risk factors for attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children with epilepsy (CWE). Methods We conducted a systematic search in PubMed and Embase for the meta‐analysis. The pooled prevalence of ADHD was calculated using a random‐effects model; subgroup analyses were performed to explore heterogeneity. We collected raw data from articles reporting potential risk factors, which were included in the subsequent risk factor analysis. Results Forty‐six articles met the inclusion criteria for the meta‐analysis, which showed a pooled ADHD prevalence of 30.7% in CWE, with a predominance of the inattentive subtype of ADHD; the heterogeneity of prevalence was related to population source/study setting (clinic based, community based, or database based) and method of ADHD diagnosis (with or without clinical review). Risk factors for ADHD in epilepsy included younger age, intellectual/developmental disabilities, a family history of epilepsy, earlier epilepsy onset, absence epilepsy, more frequent seizures, and polytherapy; In contrast, risk factors such as sex, generalized epilepsy or seizures, epilepsy etiology, and electroencephalogram abnormalities were not significantly associated with the occurrence of ADHD. Significance The prevalence of ADHD in CWE is high and several potential risk factors are associated with it. This study contributes to a better understanding of ADHD in epilepsy for screening and treatment. Plain Language Summary This systematic review summarizes the prevalence of attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) occurring in children with epilepsy and analyses the risk factors for comorbid ADHD in epilepsy. By reviewing 46 articles, we concluded that the overall prevalence of ADHD in children with epilepsy was 30.7% and that intellectual/developmental disabilities were the most significant risk factor for combined ADHD in children with epilepsy. This study provides a wealth of information on comorbid ADHD in epilepsy, which will help clinicians identify and treat potential ADHD in children with epilepsy in a timely manner.

Abstract Alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) for scalable hydrogen production largely hinges on addressing the sluggish bubble‐involved kinetics on the traditional Ni‐based electrode, especially for ampere‐level current densities and beyond. Herein, 3D‐printed Ni‐based sulfide (3DPNS) electrodes with varying scaffolds are designed and fabricated. In situ observations at microscopic levels demonstrate that the bubble escape velocity increases with the number of hole sides (HS) in the scaffolds. Subsequently, we conduct multiphysics field simulations to illustrate that as the hole shapes transition from square, pentagon, and hexagon to circle, where a noticeable reduction in the bubble‐attached HS length and the pressure balance time around the bubbles results in a decrease in bubble size and an acceleration in the rate of bubble escape. Ultimately, the 3DPNS electrode with circular hole configurations exhibits the most favorable HER performance with an overpotential of 297 mV at the current density of up to 1000 mA cm−2 for 120 h. The present study highlights a scalable and effective electrode scaffold design that promotes low‐cost and low‐energy green hydrogen production through the ampere‐level alkaline HER.

Abstract Accurate detection of underwater objects is a key indicator technology to effectively enhance the field of marine development and application, and is of great importance to various fields including marine military defense and seafood aquaculture. Efficient and rapid detection of underwater targets is a crucial technological challenge in this field. To meet the challenges posed by these issues, this study applies the convolutional omni‐efficient layer aggregation network (CO‐ELAN) module to the detector backbone to improve the ability of the network structure to acquire underwater objects from image information. The module improves the feature representation of gradient branching through a multi‐dimensional dynamic convolution and attention mechanism. In terms of loss calculation, the optimized normalized Wasserstein distance approach is used to predict the box distribution probabilistic modelling method to determine comparable distances to the ground box and obtain better samples of small target labels. Here, an underwater image enhancement algorithm based on white balance and underwater blur fusion is used to obtain clear images that enable improved detector performance. After the verification experiment on the URPC2018 dataset, it is found that the detector has better underwater detection ability compared with other detectors in the complex underwater environment. The proposed method achieves a 2.4% improvement over the YOLOv7 baseline model, while reducing computation costs by 5%.

Abstract The microbial synthesis of sulfonolipids within the human body is likely involved in maintaining human health or causing diseases. However, the enzymes responsible for their biosynthesis remain largely unknown. In this study, we identified and verified the role of 3‐ketocapnine reductase, the third‐step enzyme, in the four‐step conversion of l‐phosphoserine into sulfobacin B both in vivo and in vitro. This finding builds upon our previous research into sulfonolipid biosynthesis, which focused on the vaginal bacterium Chryseobacterium gleum DSM 16776 and the gut bacterium Alistipes finegoldii DSM 17242. Through comprehensive gene mapping, we demonstrate the widespread presence of potential sulfonolipid biosynthetic genes across diverse bacterial species inhabiting various regions of the human body. These findings shed light on the prevalence of sulfonolipid‐like metabolites within the human microbiota, suggesting a potential role for these lipid molecules in influencing the intricate biointeractions within the complex microbial ecosystem of the human body.

Abstract In the process of lower coal roadway support under double gobs in close coal seams, there are problems such as the whole destruction of the lower coal seam and the intermediate strata, the thin roof of the lower coal roadway with the smaller support space, the upper rock of the lower coal roadway without anchor bearing layer, the roof falling, the anchor cable offing, and so on. On the basis of the engineering background of No. 11103 haulage roadway in Fenxi coal mine, the research methods of theoretical modeling analysis, numerical simulation analysis and field engineering test are comprehensively adopted. In this paper, the layout of the roadway with floor insertion in the lower coal seam, the distribution characteristics of surrounding rock deviatoric stress, the control principle of broken surrounding rock and the coupling support method of shed–cable–prop are systematically studied. The study shows that many measures are needed to ensure the stability of the surrounding rock in the strong mining roadway of the lower coal seam. The lower coal seam roadway section was modified from the original rectangular section to adopt an arched section to counteract the broken roof. The staggered position of the lower coal seam roadway layout was modified from the original coal roadway position to a coal–rock roadway, so as to avoid the area of high deviatoric stress in the coal pillar and the area of crushed coal body, and to leave an effective support space for the roof. The support scheme of the lower coal seam roadway was improved to use anchor cable and single prop to support the weak section of U‐type steel shed with local coupling, and realize unequal force coupling by adjusting the size of the force at different coupling points. In the field monitoring the deformation of the roadway is small, and the support effect is good.

Abstract To address the issues of probiotic activity loss during storage and feeding, as well as the limited efficacy of single probiotics, a solution was devised by embedding a mixture of Bacillus coagulans SN‐8 (SN‐8) and Saccharomyces boulardii SN‐6 (SN‐6) in a gel. The initial step involved screening the probiotic microcapsules' preparation method and wall material. Using sodium alginate and β‐cyclodextrin as composite wall material and chitosan as the outer coating material allowed for an embedding rate of 82.11% in composite probiotic microcapsules prepared by the air atomization method. Next, in vitro, simulated digestion experiments were conducted to determine the number of viable bacteria and the release rate of the microcapsules. The results showed that compared to the free strain, the mixed probiotic microcapsules retained a survival rate of 67.5% after 3 h of simulated gastric juice exposure and 70.56% after 42 days of storage at 4°C. This demonstrated higher survival rates and storage stability. The prepared probiotic microcapsules were then administered to dairy cows. 16S rDNA gene sequencing showed that consumption of the microcapsules reduced the number of harmful bacteria, such as Paeniclostridium, in the intestinal tract of dairy cows while accelerating the growth of beneficial bacteria, such as Bifidobacterium. In particular, this resulted in a significant improvement in the lactation performance of the cows, with a 4.5% increase in milk fat content, a 92.5% increase in milk protein content, and a 3.5% increase in milk urea nitrogen content (6.75 mL/dL). In conclusion, probiotic microcapsules can effectively regulate intestinal flora, improving milk production, and quality in dairy cows.

Abstract Biomineralization is the intricate process by which living organisms orchestrate the formation of organic–inorganic composites by regulating the nucleation, orientation, growth, and assembly of inorganic minerals. As our comprehension of biomineralization principles deepens, novel strategies for fabricating inorganic materials based on these principles have emerged. Researchers can also harness biomineralization strategies to tackle challenges in both materials' science and biomedical fields, demonstrating a thriving research field. This review begins by introducing the concept of biomineralization and subsequently shifts its focus to a recently discovered chemical concept: inorganic ionic oligomers and their cross‐linking. As a novel approach for constructing inorganic materials, the inorganic ionic oligomer‐based strategy finds applications in biomimetic regeneration and repair of hard tissues, such as teeth and bones. Aside from innovative methods for material fabrication, biomineralization has emerged as an alternative method for tackling biomedical challenges by integrating materials with biological organisms, facilitating advancements in biomedical fields. Emerging material‐biological integrators play a critical role in areas like vaccine improvement, cancer therapy, universal blood transfusion, and arthritis treatment. This review highlights the profound impact of biomineralization in the development and design of high‐performance materials that go beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries, potentially promoting breakthroughs in materials science, chemical biology, biomedical, and numerous other domains.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to explore the association between slow‐wave sleep and the progression of motor and nonmotor symptoms in patients with PD. Methods Data were collected from the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative study. Slow‐wave sleep, also known as deep non‐rapid eye movement (DNREM) sleep, was objectively assessed using the Verily Study Watch. Motor function was assessed using the Movement Disorder Society‐Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale Part III score, Hoehn and Yahr stage, freezing of gait, motor fluctuations, and dyskinesia severity. Comprehensive assessments were conducted on nonmotor symptoms, including depression, anxiety, global cognitive function, and autonomic dysfunction. Statistical analyses involved repeated‐measures analysis of variance and linear regression. Results A total of 102 patients with PD were included in the study, with a median follow‐up duration of 3.4 years. In the long DNREM sleep duration group (n = 55), better motor function (DNREM × time interaction: F(1,100) = 4.866, p = 0.030), less severe sexual dysfunction (p = 0.026), and improved activities of daily living (p = 0.033) were observed at the last follow‐up visit compared with the short DNREM sleep duration group (n = 47). Reduced DNREM sleep duration is a risk factor for motor progression (β = −0.251, p = 0.021; 95% confidence interval = −0.465 to −0.038). Interpretation The findings suggest an association between longer DNREM sleep duration and slower motor and nonmotor progression in patients with PD.

Abstract The fuel injection performance and spray characteristics of the high‐pressure common rail (HPCR) system at low temperatures are investigated with experiment. The effects of environmental temperature, common rail pressure, and fuel injection pulse width on the injection quantity and spray characteristics are discussed. The fuel injection quantity at −30°C decreases by about 10% compared to the target fuel quantity. For the different target fuel quantity, the decrease of fuel injection quantity with temperature is the same under different rail pressures. The impact of temperature change on fuel injection quantity is relatively greater when the fuel injection pulse width is small. At the same common rail pressure and injector control pulse width, the injection quantity of −35# diesel is greater than that of −10# diesel for the same temperature condition. The low‐temperature fluidity can ensure normal diesel supply and injection in the fuel supply system. When the viscosity of diesel fuel rises and fluidity deteriorates in a low‐temperature environment, the spray beam produced by the same spray pressure becomes difficult to spread, and the spray penetration distance and cone angle decrease. The spray penetration distance differs by about 2.2 mm between the two temperatures. At low temperatures, the viscosity of diesel fuel rises and the fluidity deteriorates. The minimum injection pressure of the spray increases, and the spray angle is relatively small.

Objective The incidence of fragility fractures of the pelvis (FFPs) is increasing in the elderly population, and FFPs that require fixation are a challenge for orthopedic surgeons. The insertion of implants is not risk free due to the complex anatomical and osteoporotic bones and requires a steep learning curve. This study aimed to investigate the clinical efficacy of TiRobot‐assisted percutaneous cannulated screw fixation in the treatment of elderly FFP patients. Method The clinical data of 46 elderly FFP patients who had been treated with percutaneous cannulated screw fixation from May 2020 to September 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Twenty‐four patients were treated with percutaneous cannulated screw fixation assisted by the TiRobot (TiRobot‐assisted group) and 22 patients were treated with conventional freehand surgery (freehand group). Postoperative outcomes, including Matta value, excellent and good rate (EGR) of fracture reduction, and accuracy of screw placement (ASP), were compared. Changes in the Visual analog scale (VAS) pain score and the Majeed score were recorded and compared between groups before and after surgery and during the 24‐week follow‐up. Repeated‐measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) and effect sizes were used as analysis methods. Results A total of 90 screws were implanted, 51 screws in the TiRobot‐assisted group and 39 screws in the freehand group. Objective Irrigation is a conventional treatment for acute and chronic periprosthetic joint infections (PJI). However, there has been no unified standard for irrigation during surgery for PJI in the past, and the efficacy is uncertain. The purpose of this study is to create a new irrigation protocol to enhance the infection control rate and reduce the postoperative recurrence rate of PJI patients. Methods We conducted a single‐institution retrospective review with a total of 56 patients who underwent revision total hip or knee arthroplasties due to PJI from January 2011 to January 2022. Conventional irrigation (CI) was used in 32 cases, and standard operating procedure of irrigation (SOPI) was used in 24. The CI protocol carries out an empirical irrigation after debridement, which is quite random. Our SOPI protocol clearly stipulates the soaking concentration and time of hydrogen peroxide and povidone‐iodine. The irrigation is carried out three times, and tissue samples are taken from multiple parts before and after irrigation, which are sent for microbial culture. The important statistical indicators were the rate of positive microbiological culture and postoperative recurrence rate with an average follow‐up of 24 average months. Abstract The rendering of urban 3D scenes involves a large number of models. In order to render scenes more efficiently, the main solution is to build a level of detail model (LOD). This may have the problem of building fragmentation, while relying on building a level of detail model (LOD) alone cannot meet the accuracy and fluency of large‐scale scene visualisation. Effective and reasonable data organisation has important research significance for the authors to achieve accurate and fast rendering of scenes. Therefore, the authors propose a large‐scale city model data organisation method considering building distribution to solve the above problems. This method first classifies the buildings in the scene at macro‐, meso‐ and microscales and records the classification using R‐trees. Then an adaptive quadtree is used to construct the data index of the city model. Finally, the data organisation of the large‐scale 3D city model is achieved by using the information of each node of the R‐tree as a constraint and combining with the adaptive quadtree. The results show that the method not only ensures the integrity of the user's area of interest but also can improve the efficiency of 3D scene construction.

Abstract Background The safety of medication use among older adults is a growing concern, given the aging population. Despite widespread attention, the exploration of medication literacy in older adults, particularly from the perspective of information literacy, is in its nascent stages. Methods This study utilized the existing literature to define medication information literacy (MIL) as a theoretical framework. A two‐round Delphi survey was conducted to identify the essential components of a MIL indicator system for older adults. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was then used to assign weights to each indicator. Results The study observed relatively high response rates in both rounds of the questionnaire, which, along with expert authority coefficients (Cr) of 0.86 and 0.89, underscores the credibility and expertise of the panellists. Abstract Analyzing degradation heterogeneity of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) while maintaining high practicality is consistently challenging, primarily due to the destructive and costly nature of existing techniques relying on material characterization. In this work, a designed magnetic array integrating 16 sensors within 25 cm2 space is used for direct scanning and imaging of PEMFC performance heterogeneity during its degradation. Results are validated through degradation mechanism analysis and material characterization, confirming its potential in guiding the development of durable materials.

Abstract Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a common and potentially life‐threatening condition. Chronic aortic inflammation is closely associated with the pathogenesis of AAA. Nerve injury‐induced protein 1 (NINJ1) is increasingly acknowledged as a significant regulator of the inflammatory process. However, the precise involvement of NINJ1 in AAA formation remains largely unexplored. The present study finds that the expression level of NINJ1 is elevated, along with the specific expression level in macrophages within human and angiotensin II (Ang II)‐induced murine AAA lesions. Furthermore, Ninj1flox/flox and Ninj1flox/floxLyz2‐Cre mice on an ApoE−/− background are generated, and macrophage NINJ1 deficiency inhibits AAA formation and reduces macrophage infiltration in mice infused with Ang II. Consistently, in vitro suppressing the expression level of NINJ1 in macrophages significantly restricts macrophage adhesion and migration, while attenuating macrophage pro‐inflammatory responses. Bulk RNA‐sequencing and pathway analysis uncover that NINJ1 can modulate macrophage infiltration through the TLR4/NF‐κB/CCR2 signaling pathway. Protein‐protein interaction analysis indicates that NINJ1 can activate TLR4 by competitively binding with ANXA2, an inhibitory interacting protein of TLR4. These findings reveal that NINJ1 can modulate AAA formation by promoting macrophage infiltration and pro‐inflammatory responses, highlighting the potential of NINJ1 as a therapeutic target for AAA.

Abstract Currently, cancer is still a leading cause of human death globally. Tumor deterioration comprises multiple events including metastasis, therapeutic resistance and immune evasion, all of which are tightly related to the phenotypic plasticity especially epithelial–mesenchymal plasticity (EMP). Tumor cells with EMP are manifest in three states as epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), partial EMT, and mesenchymal–epithelial transition, which orchestrate the phenotypic switch and heterogeneity of tumor cells via transcriptional regulation and a series of signaling pathways, including transforming growth factor‐β, Wnt/β‐catenin, and Notch. However, due to the complicated nature of EMP, the diverse process of EMP is still not fully understood. In this review, we systematically conclude the biological background, regulating mechanisms of EMP as well as the role of EMP in therapy response. We also summarize a range of small molecule inhibitors, immune‐related therapeutic approaches, and combination therapies that have been developed to target EMP for the outstanding role of EMP‐driven tumor deterioration. Additionally, we explore the potential technique for EMP‐based tumor mechanistic investigation and therapeutic research, which may burst vigorous prospects. Overall, we elucidate the multifaceted aspects of EMP in tumor progression and suggest a promising direction of cancer treatment based on targeting EMP.

Abstract In recent decades, research on Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) has gained prominence in the life sciences due to their critical roles in both health and disease states, offering promising applications in disease diagnosis, drug delivery, and therapy. However, their inherent heterogeneity and complex origins pose significant challenges to their preparation, analysis, and subsequent clinical application. This review is structured to provide an overview of the biogenesis, composition, and various sources of EVs, thereby laying the groundwork for a detailed discussion of contemporary techniques for their preparation and analysis. Particular focus is given to state‐of‐the‐art technologies that employ both microfluidic and non‐microfluidic platforms for EV processing. Furthermore, this discourse extends into innovative approaches that incorporate artificial intelligence and cutting‐edge electrochemical sensors, with a particular emphasis on single EV analysis. This review proposes current challenges and outlines prospective avenues for future research. The objective is to motivate researchers to innovate and expand methods for the preparation and analysis of EVs, fully unlocking their biomedical potential.

Abstract Turbo product codes (TPCs) have been widely used for bit error correction in high‐speed applications such as data storage. This letter introduces an efficient hard‐input hard‐output iterating TPC decoder module. A transpose memory utilizing static random access memory (SRAM) is integrated into the decoder to achieve a low hardware overhead. The transpose memory, based on an 8T SRAM bit‐cell, supports both horizontal (row‐wise), and vertical (column‐wise) read/write operations. It is prototyped under a 28nm high‐k/metal gate stack process with bit‐cell size of 0.582 µm2. This specialized SRAM significantly reduces the hardware overhead when compared with a register‐array‐based transpose memory without significant throughput loss. A field programmable gate array (FPGA) evaluation platform is utilized to emulate the TPC decoder module, and the maximum decoder throughput is up to 6.49 Gbps at 250 MHz.

Abstract The advancement of Zn–Se batteries has been hindered by significant challenges, such as the sluggish kinetics of Se cathodes, limited Se loading, and uncontrollable formation of Zn dendrites. In this study, a bidirectional optimization strategy is devised for both cathode and anode to bolster the performance of Zn–Se batteries. A novel bowl‐in‐ball structured carbon (BIBCs) material is synthesized to serve as a nanoreactor, in which tin‐based materials are grown and derived in situ to construct cathodes and anodes. Within the cathode, the multifunctional host material (SnSe@BIBCs) exhibits large adsorption capacity for selenium, and demonstrates supreme catalytic properties and spatially confined characteristics toward the selenium reduction reaction (SeRR). On the anode, Sn@BIBCs displays triple‐induced properties, including the zincophilic of the internal metallic Sn, the homogenized spatial electric field from the 3D spatial structure, and the curvature effect of the bowl‐shaped carbon. Collectively, these factors induce preferential nucleation of Zn, ensuring its uniform deposition. As a result, the integrated Zn–Se battery system achieves a remarkable specific capacity of up to 603 mAh g−1 and an impressive energy density of 581 W kg−1, highlighting its tremendous potential for practical applications.

Abstract Alpha‐1‐antitrypsin (AAT) plays a homeostatic role in attenuating excessive inflammation and augmenting host defense against microbes. We demonstrated previously that AAT binds to the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) resulting in significant anti‐inflammatory and antimycobacterial consequences in macrophages. Our current investigation aims to uncover AAT‐regulated genes that rely on GR in macrophages. We incubated control THP‐1 cells (THP‐1control) and THP‐1 cells knocked down for GR (THP‐1GR‐KD) with AAT, performed bulk RNA sequencing, and analyzed the findings. In THP‐1control cells, AAT significantly upregulated 408 genes and downregulated 376 genes. Comparing THP‐1control and THP‐1GR‐KD cells, 125 (30.6%) of the AAT‐upregulated genes and 154 (41.0%) of the AAT‐downregulated genes were significantly dependent on GR. Among the AAT‐upregulated, GR‐dependent genes, CSF‐2 that encodes for granulocyte‐monocyte colony‐stimulating factor (GM‐CSF), known to be host‐protective against nontuberculous mycobacteria, was strongly upregulated by AAT and dependent on GR. We further quantified the mRNA and protein of several AAT‐upregulated, GR‐dependent genes in macrophages and the mRNA of several AAT‐downregulated, GR‐dependent genes. We also discussed the function(s) of selected AAT‐regulated, GR‐dependent gene products largely in the context of mycobacterial infections. In conclusion, AAT regulated several genes that are dependent on GR and play roles in host immunity against mycobacteria.

Abstract Objective To analyze the efficacy and adverse effects of anti‐PD‐1 immune checkpoint inhibitors aimed at nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods During the first stage of the study, using 40 patients with stage III/IVa NPC treated with anti‐PD‐1 immune checkpoint inhibitors in combination with chemoradiotherapy as a first‐line treatment (observation group) and 70 patients with NPC treated with chemoradiotherapy alone (control group). In the second stage of the study, 88 patients with NPC treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors were grouped according to the number of lines of immunotherapy, the number of times, and the types of application. Results Observation of the short‐term effects in the first stage indicated that the objective response rate (ORR) of the observation group and the control group against primary foci of NPC was 75.0% versus 40.0%; the mortality rate of the observation group was much lower than that of the control group. Abstract Efficiently generating 3D holograms is one of the most challenging research topics in the field of holography. This work introduces a method for generating multi‐depth phase‐only holograms using a fully convolutional neural network (FCN). The method primarily involves a forward–backward‐diffraction framework to compute multi‐depth diffraction fields, along with a layer‐by‐layer replacement method (L2RM) to handle occlusion relationships. The diffraction fields computed by the former are fed into the carefully designed FCN, which leverages its powerful non‐linear fitting capability to generate multi‐depth holograms of 3D scenes. The latter can smooth the boundaries of different layers in scene reconstruction by complementing information of occluded objects, thus enhancing the reconstruction quality of holograms. The proposed method can generate a multi‐depth 3D hologram with a PSNR of 31.8 dB in just 90 ms for a resolution of 2160 × 3840 on the NVIDIA Tesla A100 40G tensor core GPU. Additionally, numerical and experimental results indicate that the generated holograms accurately reconstruct clear 3D scenes with correct occlusion relationships and provide excellent depth focusing.

Abstract The RNA modification, 5‐methylcytosine (m5C), has recently gained prominence as a pivotal post‐transcriptional regulator of gene expression, intricately intertwined with various tumorigenic processes. However, the exact mechanisms governing m5C modifications during the onset and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC) remain unclear. Here, it is determined that the m5C methyltransferase NSUN2 exhibits significantly elevated expression and exerts an oncogenic function in CRC. Mechanistically, NSUN2 and YBX1 are identified as the “writer” and “reader” of ENO1, culminating in the reprogramming of the glucose metabolism and increased production of lactic acid in an m5C‐dependent manner. The accumulation of lactic acid derived from CRC cells, in turn, activates the transcription of NSUN2 through histone H3K18 lactylation (H3K18la), and induces the lactylation of NSUN2 at the Lys356 residue (K356), which is crucial for capturing target RNAs. Together, these findings reveal an intriguing positive feedback loop involving the NSUN2/YBX1/m5C‐ENO1 signaling axis, thereby bridging the connection between metabolic reprogramming and epigenetic remodeling, which may shed light on the therapeutic potential of combining an NSUN2 inhibitor with immunotherapy for CRC.

Abstract In point‐of‐care diagnostics, the continuous monitoring of sweat constituents provides a window into individual's physiological state. For species like horses, with abundant sweat glands, sweat composition can serve as an early health indicator. Considering the salience of such metrics in the domain of high‐value animal breeding, a sophisticated wearable sensor patch tailored is introduced for the dynamic assessment of equine sweat, offering insights into pH, potassium ion (K+), and temperature profiles during episodes of heat stress and under normal physiological conditions. The device integrates a laser‐engraved graphene (LEG) sensing electrode array, a non‐invasive iontophoretic module for stimulated sweat secretion, an adaptable signal processing unit, and an embedded wireless communication framework. Profiting from an admirable Truth Table capable of logical evaluation, the integrated system enabled the early and timely assessment for heat stress, with high accuracy, stability, and reproducibility. The sensor patch has been calibrated to align with the unique dermal and physiological contours of equine anatomy, thereby augmenting its applicability in practical settings. This real‐time analysis tool for equine perspiration stands to revolutionize personalized health management approaches for high‐value animals, marking a significant stride in the integration of smart technologies within the agricultural sector.

Abstract N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) modification, installed by METTL3‐METTL14 complex, is abundant and critical in eukaryotic mRNA. However, its role in oral mucosal immunity remains ambiguous. Periodontitis is a special but prevalent infectious disease characterized as hyperinflammation of oral mucosa and bone resorption. Here, it is reported that genetic deletion of Mettl3 alleviates periodontal destruction via suppressing NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Mechanistically, the stability of TNFAIP3 (also known as A20) transcript is significantly attenuated upon m6A modification. When silencing METTL3, accumulated TNFAIP3 functioning as a ubiquitin‐editing enzyme facilitates the ubiquitination of NEK7 [NIMA (never in mitosis gene a)‐related kinase 7], and subsequently impairs NLRP3 inflammasome assembly. Furtherly, Coptisine chloride, a natural small‐molecule, is discovered as a novel METTL3 inhibitor and performs therapeutic effect on periodontitis. The study unveils a previously unknown pathogenic mechanism of METTL3‐mediated m6A modifications in periodontitis and indicates METTL3 as a potential therapeutic target.

Abstract Solar panels often suffer from dust accumulation, significantly reducing their output, especially in desert regions where many of the world's largest solar plants are located. Here, an autonomous dust removal system for solar panels, powered by a wind‐driven rotary electret generator is proposed. The generator applies a high voltage between one solar panel's output electrode and an upper mesh electrode to generate a strong electrostatic field. It is discovered that dust particles on the insulative glass cover of the panel can be charged under the high electrical field, assisted by adsorbed water, even in low‐humidity environments. The charged particles are subsequently repelled from the solar panel with the significant Coulomb force. Two panels covered with sand dust are cleaned in only 6.6 min by a 15 cm diameter rotary electret generator at 1.6 m s−1 wind speed. Experimental results manifest that the system can work effectively in a wide range of environmental conditions, and doesn't impact the panel performance for long‐term operation. This autonomous system, with its high dust removal efficiency, simplicity, and low cost, holds great potential in practical applications.

Abstract DNA is commonly employed as a substrate for the building of artificial logic networks due to its excellent biocompatibility and programmability. Till now, DNA logic circuits are rapidly evolving to accomplish advanced operations. Nonetheless, nowadays, most DNA circuits remain to be disposable and lack of field programmability and thereby limits their practicability. Herein, inspired by the Configurable Logic Block (CLB), the CLB‐based erasable field‐programmable DNA circuit that uses clip strands as its operation‐controlling signals is presented. It enables users to realize diverse functions with limited hardware. CLB‐based basic logic gates (OR and AND) are first constructed and demonstrated their erasability and field programmability. Furthermore, by adding the appropriate operation‐controlling strands, multiple rounds of programming are achieved among five different logic operations on a two‐layer circuit. Subsequently, a circuit is successfully built to implement two fundamental binary calculators: half‐adder and half‐subtractor, proving that the design can imitate silicon‐based binary circuits. Finally, a comprehensive CLB‐based circuit is built that enables multiple rounds of switch among seven different logic operations including half‐adding and half‐subtracting. Overall, the CLB‐based erasable field‐programmable circuit immensely enhances their practicability. It is believed that design can be widely used in DNA logic networks due to its efficiency and convenience.

Abstract Myocardial infarction (MI), a consequence of coronary artery occlusion, triggers the degradation of ferritin, resulting in elevated levels of free iron in the heart and thereby inducing ferroptosis. Targeting myocardial ferroptosis through the chelation of excess iron has therapeutic potential for MI treatment. However, iron chelation in post ischemic injury areas using conventional iron‐specific chelators is hindered by ineffective myocardial intracellular chelation, rapid clearance, and high systemic toxicity. A chitosan‐desferrioxamine nanosponge (CDNS) is designed by co‐crosslinking chitosan and deferoxamine through noncovalent gelation to address these challenges. This architecture facilitates direct iron chelation regardless of deferoxamine (DFO) release due to its sponge‐like porous hydrogel structure. Upon cellular internalization, CDNS can effectively chelate cellular iron and facilitate the efflux of captured iron, thereby inhibiting ferroptosis and associated oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation. In MI mouse models, myocardial injection of CDNS promotes sustainable retention and the suppression of ferroptosis in the infarcted heart. This intervention improves cardiac function and alleviates adverse cardiac remodeling post‐MI, leading to decreased oxidative stress and the promotion of angiogenesis due to ferroptosis inhibition by CDNS in the infarcted heart. This study reveals a nanosponge‐based nanomedicine targeting myocardial ferroptosis with efficient iron chelation and efflux, offering a promising MI treatment.

Abstract The importance of halogen bonds (XBs) in the regulation of material properties through a variation in the electrostatic potential of the halogen atom is not attracted much attention. Herein, this study utilizes in situ single crystal X‐ray diffraction and synchrotron‐based X‐ray techniques to investigate the cooling‐triggered irreversible single‐crystal‐to‐single‐crystal transformation of the DMF solvated iodo‐substituted squaraine dye (SQD‐I). Transformation is observed to be mediated by solvent‐involved XB formation and strengthening of electrostatic interaction between adjacent SQD‐I molecules. By immersing a DMF solvate in acetonitrile a solvent exchange without loss of long‐range ordering is observed. This is attributed to conservation of the molecular charge distribution of SQD‐I molecules during the process. The different solvates can be used in combination for temperature‐dependent image encryption. This work emphasizes the changes caused by XB formation to the electrostatic potentials of halogen containing molecules and their influence on material properties and presents the potential utility of XBs in the design of soft‐porous crystals and luminescent materials.

Background The association between soy isoflavones intake and cardiometabolic health remains inconclusive. We investigated the associations of urinary biomarkers of isoflavones including daidzein, glycitein, genistein, equol (a gut microbial metabolite of daidzein), and equol‐predicting microbial species with cardiometabolic risk markers. Methods and Results In a 1‐year study of 305 Chinese community‐dwelling adults aged ≥18 years, urinary isoflavones, fecal microbiota, blood pressure, blood glucose and lipids, and anthropometric data were measured twice, 1 year apart. Brachial‐ankle pulse wave velocity was also measured after 1 year. A linear mixed‐effects model was used to analyze repeated measurements. Logistic regression was used to calculate the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) and 95% CI for the associations for arterial stiffness. Each 1 μg/g creatinine increase in urinary equol concentrations was associated with 1.47%, 0.96%, and 3.32% decrease in triglycerides, plasma atherogenic index, and metabolic syndrome score, respectively (all P

Background Physician transfer is an alternate option to patient transfer for expedient performance of mechanical thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Methods and Results We conducted a systematic review to identify studies that evaluate the effect of physician transfer in patients with acute ischemic stroke who undergo mechanical thrombectomy. A search of PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science was undertaken, and data were extracted. A statistical pooling with random‐effects meta‐analysis was performed to examine the odds of reduced time interval between stroke onset and recanalization, functional independence, death, and angiographic recanalization. A total of 12 studies (11 nonrandomized observational studies and 1 nonrandomized controlled trial) were included, with a total of 1894 patients. Physician transfer was associated with a significantly shorter time interval between stroke onset and recanalization with a pooled mean difference estimate of −62.08 (95% CI, −112.56 to −11.61]; P=0.016; 8 studies involving 1419 patients) with high between‐study heterogeneity in the estimates (I2=90.6%). The odds for functional independence at 90 days were significantly higher (odds ratio, 1.29 [95% CI, 1.00–1.66]; P=0.046; 7 studies with 1222 patients) with physician transfer with low between‐study heterogeneity (I2=0%). Physician transfer was not associated with higher odds of near‐complete or complete angiographic recanalization (odds ratio, 1.18 [95% CI, 0.89–1.57; P=0.25; I2=2.8%; 11 studies with 1856 subjects). Conclusions Physician transfer was associated with a significant reduction in the mean of time interval between symptom onset and recanalization and increased odds for functional independence at 90 days with physician transfer compared with patient transfer among patients who undergo mechanical thrombectomy.

Abstract Aim Nurses play a crucial role within medical institutions, maintaining direct interaction with patient data. Despite this, there is a scarcity of tools for evaluating nurses' perspectives on patient information security. This study aimed to translate the Information Security Attitude Questionnaire into Chinese and validate its reliability and validity among clinical nurses. Design A cross‐sectional design. Methods A total of 728 clinical nurses from three hospitals in China participated in this study. The Information Security Attitude Questionnaire (ISA‐Q) was translated into Chinese utilizing the Brislin two‐way translation method. The reliability was assessed through internal consistency coefficient and test–retest reliability. The validity was determined through the Delphi expert consultation method and factor analysis. Results The Chinese version of ISA‐Q consists of 30 items. Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.930, and Cronbach's α coefficient of the six dimensions ranged from 0.781 to 0.938. The split‐half reliability and test–retest reliability were 0.797 and 0.848, respectively. The content validity index (S‐CVI) was 0.962. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a 6‐factor structure supported by eigenvalues, total variance interpretation, and scree plots, accounting for a cumulative variance contribution rate of 69.436%. Confirmatory factor analysis further validated the 6‐factor structure, demonstrating an appropriate model fit. Conclusion The robust reliability and validity exhibited by the Chinese version of ISA‐Q establish it as a dependable tool for evaluating the information security attitudes of clinical nurses. Implications for Nursing Practice The Chinese iteration of the ISA‐Q questionnaire offers a profound insight into the information security attitudes held by clinical nurses. This understanding serves as a foundation for nursing managers to develop targeted intervention strategies aimed at fortifying nurses' information security attitudes, thereby enhancing patient safety.

Abstract Background In December 2022, a large‐scale epidemic occurred in China due to Omicron variant of SARS‐CoV‐2. This study explored risk factors for Omicron infection in transplant recipients at our institution and investigated the factors influencing the severity of SARS‐CoV‐2 Omicron infection among recipients of allo‐HSCT. Methods This single‐center study investigated totally 63 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients infected with Omicron variant at the Beijing GoBroad Boren Hospital Transplant Center during December 2022 and analyzed their risk factors. Results The study included 63 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients who developed Omicron infection. There were 34 mild and 29 moderate to severe cases. Their median age was 22 years (range, 1–65 years), with the male‐to‐female ratio being 1:1.1. Acute myeloid leukemia (53.97%), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (42.86%), and non‐Hodgkin lymphoma (3.17%) were underlying diseases. The median time between HCT and Omicron infection was 8.45 months. Abstract In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), there are three conflicting important issues, including extensive coverage, low node redundancy, and energy consumption for secondary deployment. To balance network coverage and longevity, a WSN coverage model with three objectives is developed. A novel multi‐strategy gold rush optimizer is proposed for the coverage optimization problem in WSN. First, the fusion search method becomes extensive and flexible by combining the migration strategy with the Levy flight mechanism and joining a follower group. Then, the dynamic opposite learning strategy is used to increase population diversity in the panning stage. In addition, a multi‐player collaborative strategy is utilized to improve search ability of the algorithm in the collaboration stage. Finally, the random differential mutation method is used to try to assist the algorithm in escaping local optima. The simulation results show that this algorithm compared with other algorithms performs better on all three objectives considered.

Abstract Although it is known that the frequency and intensity of heatwaves are affected by the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO), unknown are the ENSO modulations on the moving properties (e.g., moving distance and speed) of spatiotemporally contiguous heatwaves. Here, we investigate the relationship between ENSO and the moving patterns of contiguous heatwaves. We show that contiguous heatwaves are likely more frequent, more persistent, and longer‐traveling, but slower‐moving during El Niño than La Niña episodes. The differences in the tropical contiguous heatwaves between El Niño and La Niña are influenced by persistent high‐pressure anomalies. During the following summers, El Niño can induce anomalous atmospheric circulation characterized by an intensified subsidence over the western North Pacific and ascending motion over the tropical Indian and Pacific Oceans. These features provide favorable conditions for the occurrence and maintenance of contiguous heatwaves.

Abstract Point‐to‐point (P2P) flexible transceivers are the key technical enabler to cost‐effectively offer fast, dynamic, and ‘just‐the‐right‐size’ ultra‐dense P2P connectivity for various applications including remote equipment control and distributed fibre networks. However, existing flexible transceivers originally designed for hub‐and‐spoke traffic patterns are sub‐optimal. To effectively address such technical issue, a P2P flexible transceiver incorporating a cascaded inverse fast fourier transform/fast fourier transform‐based multi‐channel aggregation/de‐aggregation technique and analogue in‐phase and quadrature (IQ) mixers is proposed and numerically evaluated in a 56Gbps@20 km intensity modulation and direct detection transmission system. The proposed P2P flexible transceivers not only support adaptive and flexible variations in both channel count and channel line rate but also offer additional physical layer network security.

Abstract Photovoltaic (PV) modules are prone to short circuits, open circuits, cracks, which can bring serious harmful effects. It is difficult to establish the corresponding PV fault models to diagnose the status of PV strings. The paper proposes a machine learning‐based stacking classifier (MLSC) for accurate fault diagnosis of PV strings. Specifically, for the operating state of PV modules, the parameter sensitivity algorithm is used to analyze the impact of characteristic factors on the characteristics of PV modules. Then based on the characteristic factors (irradiance, temperature, current, and power), MLSC is proposed to realize the accurate fault diagnosis of PV strings. This structure of MLSC is to integrate all kinds of classifiers by stacking to play the characteristics of each classifier. It combines the characteristics of various types of machine learning algorithms to improve the overall classification effect by using the advantages of each classifier. Finally, experiments reveal that MLSC improves the accuracy of PV fault diagnosis.

Abstract Reflective displays have the advantages of energy efficiency, high brightness, eye protection, and good readability, making them an attractive display technology. Photonic crystal (PhC) structural color is highly regarded as an ideal choice for reflective displays for its ecofriendliness, colorfastness, and adjustability. In this review, we introduce the fundamental classification and manufacturing methods of PhC reflective displays. We systematically summarize the display principles of PhC‐based displays driven by various stimuli. Furthermore, we present the latest research advancements in PhC displays based on smart actuators. Additionally, we offer a detailed overview of the current research status and application prospects of liquid crystal structural color displays and three‐dimensional PhC displays. Finally, we discuss the challenges faced by PhC displays and provide insights into their prospects.

Histone‐lysine N‐methyltransferase SETD2 (SETD2), the sole histone methyltransferase that catalyzes trimethylation of lysine 36 on histone H3 (H3K36me3), is often mutated in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). SETD2 mutation and/or loss of H3K36me3 is linked to metastasis and poor outcome in ccRCC patients. Epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a major pathway that drives invasion and metastasis in various cancer types. Here, using novel kidney epithelial cell lines isogenic for SETD2, we discovered that SETD2 inactivation drives EMT and promotes migration, invasion, and stemness in a transforming growth factor‐beta‐independent manner. This newly identified EMT program is triggered in part through secreted factors, including cytokines and growth factors, and through transcriptional reprogramming. RNA‐seq and assay for transposase‐accessible chromatin sequencing uncovered key transcription factors upregulated upon SETD2 loss, including SOX2, POU2F2 (OCT2), and PRRX1, that could individually drive EMT and stemness phenotypes in SETD2 wild‐type (WT) cells. Public expression data from SETD2 WT/mutant ccRCC support the EMT transcriptional signatures derived from cell line models. In summary, our studies reveal that SETD2 is a key regulator of EMT phenotypes through cell‐intrinsic and cell‐extrinsic mechanisms that help explain the association between SETD2 loss and ccRCC metastasis.

Abstract Aims HNF1B syndrome is caused by defects in the hepatocyte nuclear factor 1B (HNF1B) gene, which leads to maturity‐onset diabetes of the young type 5 and congenital organ malformations. This study aimed to identify a gene defect in a patient presenting with diabetes and severe diarrhea, while also analyzing the prevalence of hypomagnesemia and its correlation with the HNF1B genotype. Materials and Methods Whole exome sequencing was used to identify responsible point mutations and small indels in the proband and their family members. Multiplex ligation‐dependent probe amplification was carried out to identify HNF1B deletions. Furthermore, an analysis of published data on 539 cumulative HNF1B cases, from 29 literature sources, was carried out to determine the correlation between the HNF1B genotype and the phenotype of serum magnesium status. Results Using multiplex ligation‐dependent probe amplification, we identified a de novo heterozygous HNF1B deletion in the patient, who showed dorsal pancreas agenesis and multiple kidney cysts, as detected by magnetic resonance imaging. Magnesium supplementation effectively alleviated the symptoms of diarrhea. Hypomagnesemia was highly prevalent in 192 out of 354 (54.2%) patients with HNF1B syndrome. Compared with patients with intragenic mutations, those with HNF1B deletions were more likely to suffer from hypomagnesemia, with an odds ratio of 3.1 (95% confidence interval 1.8–5.4). Conclusions Hypomagnesemia is highly prevalent in individuals with HNF1B syndrome, and those with HNF1B deletion are more susceptible to developing hypomagnesemia compared with those with intragenic mutations. The genotype–phenotype associations in HNF1B syndrome have significant implications for endocrinologists in terms of genotype detection, treatment decisions and prognosis assessment.

Abstract Background The European LeukemiaNet (ELN) risk classification system for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients has been used worldwide. In 2022, the ELN risk classification system modified risk genes including CEBPA mutation status, myelodysplasia‐related (MR) gene mutations and internal tandem duplications of FLT3 (FLT3‐ITD). Methods We include newly diagnosed de novo AML patients at our center from January 2017 to December 2021, regardless of the further treatment received. Clinical data and date of survival were included. Survival analysis were performed using the Kaplan–Meier method, and the log‐rank test was used to compare survival between different risk groups. Results We include 363 newly diagnosed de novo AML patients from 2017 to 2021 to assess the accuracy of the ELN risk classification system. Their survival results show that the ELN‐2022 risk classification system is not superior to the ELN‐2017 version; for patients with FLT3‐ITD mutations but without FLT3 inhibitor treatment, their survival is similar to the ELN‐2022 adverse risk group. The ELN‐2022 risk classification system cannot accurately clarify ECOG performance status (PS) 2–4 patients, especially in the ELN‐2022 favorable risk group. Conclusion The ELN‐2022 risk stratification system may not be appropriate for patients unable to receive intensive therapy or FLT3 inhibitor; more real‐world data is needed to straify patients with worse ECOG PS and inferior intensive therapy.

Abstract Edible mushrooms are highly valued for both their culinary and medicinal properties. Unlike traditional condiments, the complex flavor of mushrooms is not determined by a single component, but rather by the potential synergistic actions of several different components and chemical interactions. However, only a limited number of edible mushroom flavor compounds have been examined in detail, leading to an incomplete understanding of their overall flavor profile. To address this knowledge gap, it is necessary to conduct further scientific research on edible mushroom flavors to maximize their utilization. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the flavor substances found in edible mushrooms, including both volatile and nonvolatile compounds, as well as the mechanisms by which various processing methods affect flavor. Additionally, we will explore the various factors that hinder the development of edible mushroom flavors and recommend strategies to further advance the technological and theoretical understanding of these unique and valuable food ingredients. In summary, by enhancing our understanding of the complex and unique flavor profile of edible mushrooms, we can better leverage their full potential as a valuable culinary and medicinal resource.

Abstract N‐glycosylation has important implications for the physicochemical properties and biochemical activity of breast milk proteins. However, an in‐depth characterization of site‐specific N‐glycans in breast milk serum proteins is lacking. In this study, 875 site‐specific N‐glycans attached to 114 serum glycoproteins from breast colostrum (BC) and 427 site‐specific N‐glycans attached to 60 serum glycoproteins from breast mature milk (BM) were identified and quantified using label‐free site‐specific glycoproteomics. Among them, 24 site‐specific N‐glycans mapping to 11 N‐glycosites on 9 glycoproteins were significantly increased, and 76 site‐specific N‐glycans mapping to 19 N‐glycosites on 13 glycoproteins were significantly decreased. Gene ontology annotation analysis showed that BC and BM serum N‐glycoproteins were mainly enriched in complement activation, classical pathway, extracellular exosome part, and immunoglobulin receptor binding. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis revealed that BC and BM serum N‐glycoproteins were mainly involved in the PI3K‐Akt signaling pathway. Additionally, breast milk serum N‐glycoproteins carried fucosylated core structures as well as Lewis and sialylated branch structures that may contribute to neonatal retinal homeostasis. These results provide a molecular basis for understanding the unique biological activities of breast milk serum N‐glycoproteins.

Abstract Arbitrary‐oriented object detection is widely used in aerial image applications because of its efficient object representation. However, the use of oriented bounding box aggravates the imbalance between positive and negative samples when using one‐stage object detectors, which seriously decreases the detection accuracy. We believe that it is the anchor learning strategy (ALS) used by such detectors that needs to take the responsibility. In this study, three perspectives on ALS design were summarised and ALS—Performance Releaser with Smart Anchor Learning (PRSAL) was proposed. Performance Releaser with Smart Anchor Learning is a dynamic ALS that utilises anchor classification ability as an equivalent indicator to anchor box regression ability, this allows anchors with high detection potential to be filtered out in a more reasonable way. At the same time, PRSAL focuses more on anchor potential and it is able to automatically select a number of positive samples that far exceed that of other methods by activating anchors that previously had a low spatial overlap, thereby releasing the detection performance. We validate the PRSAL using three remote sensing datasets—HRSC2016, DOTA and UCAS‐AOD as well as one scene text dataset—ICDAR 2013. The experimental results show that the proposed method gives substantially better results than existing models.

Abstract Data augmentation diversifies the information in the dataset. For class imbalance, the copy‐paste augmentation generates new class information to alleviate the impact of this problem. However, these methods rely excessively on human intuition. Over‐fitting or under‐fitting can occur while adding the class information, which is inappropriate. The authors propose a self‐adaptive data augmentation: the copy‐paste with self‐adaptation (CPA) algorithm, which improves the phenomenon of over‐fitting and under‐fitting. For the CPA, the evaluation results of a model are taken as an important adjustment basis. The evaluation results are combined with the information of class imbalance to generate a set of class weights. Different number of class information will be replenished according to class weights. Finally, the generated images will be inserted into the training dataset and the model will start formal training. The experimental results show that CPA can alleviate class imbalance. For TT100 K dataset, YOLOv3 is trained with the optimised dataset and its AP is increased by 2% for VOC2007 dataset, the mAP of RetinaNet on optimised dataset is 78.46, which is 1.2% higher than original dataset. For COCO2017 dataset, SSD300 is trained with the optimised dataset and its AP is increased by 1.3%.
