Abstract Heptafluoroisobutyronitrile (C4F7N) is being considered as a promising alternative to the greenhouse gas SF6 in the electrical industry. However, its biotoxicity necessitates the development of gas sensing technology to detect leaked C4F7N. A combination of density functional theory and experiments was employed to evaluate the adsorption and sensing performance of different metal‐phthalocyanines as potential sensing materials for C4F7N detection. The study included exploring adsorption configurations with adsorption energies, electron transfer, and adsorption distance, as well as comparisons of electronic properties, electron distribution, and density of states (DOS) among the MPcs. Furthermore, gas sensing experiments were conducted using different MPcs to detect 25–100 ppm C4F7N. The results revealed that Mn‐Pc, Fe‐Pc, Co‐Pc, and Zn‐Pc exhibited considerable chemical interactions, while Ni‐Pc and Cu‐Pc showed weaker adsorption strength. These findings were further elucidated based on the electron density and DOS of atomic orbitals. Moreover, gas sensing experiments indicated that Co‐Pc demonstrated a higher response compared to Fe‐Pc at the same concentration of C4F7N. Overall, the theoretical and experimental insights offer valuable guidance for C4F7N detection and provide a systematic approach to screen and explore organometallic polymer‐based gas sensors applicable in various fields.

Abstract Aims/Introduction To evaluate the relative contributions of the area under the C‐peptide curve (AUCC) in diabetic retinopathy (DR) during an oral glucose tolerance test and C‐peptide release test in patients with type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods We retrospectively analyzed the data of 969 patients. Their general characteristics were retrieved. A series of parameters for assessing pancreatic β‐cells function, such as the AUCC for six time periods: 0–60 min (AUCC0–60), 0–120 min (AUCC0–120), 0–180 min (AUCC0–180), 60–120 min (AUCC60–120), 60–180 min (AUCC60–180) and 120–180 min (AUCC120–180); the area under the glucose‐time curve for six time periods: 0–60 min (AUCG0–60), 0–120 min (AUCG0–120), 0–180 min (AUCG0–180), 60–120 min (AUCG60–120), 60–180 min (AUCG60–180) and 120–180 min (AUCG120–180) and their related indexes, were calculated through 0–180 min oral glucose tolerance test and C‐peptide release test. We used univariate analysis to examine the potential factors affecting DR. Spearman's correlation was used to analyze the correlation between AUCC‐related indexes and DR. The logistic regression model was used to investigate AUCC and its related indexes’ contribution to incidence DR. A smooth curve fitting model was used to determine the correlation, non‐linear relationship, and threshold effect between AUCC and DR. Results Of the 969 patients with type 2 diabetes, 469 (48.40%) and 500 (51.60%) were classified as the DR group and non‐DR group. Compared with the non‐DR group, the DR patients had lower AUCC and AUCC/AUCG. Spearman's correlation analysis showed that AUCC‐related indexes were all negatively correlated with DR. The logistic regression analysis determined that there were associations between AUCC and DR in the adjusted models. The odds ratio values of AUCC0–60, AUCC0–120, AUCC0–180, AUCC0–60/AUCG0–60, AUCC0–120/AUCG0–120, AUCC0–180/AUCG0–180, AUCC60–120, AUCC60–180, AUCC120–180, AUCC60–120/AUCG60–120, AUCC60–180/AUCG60–180 and AUCC120–180/AUCG120–180 were 0.817 (0.750, 0.890), 0.925 (0.895, 0.955), 0.951 (0.932, 0.970), 0.143 (0.060, 0.340), 0.194 (0.093, 0.406), 0.223 (0.116, 0.427), 0.886 (0.842, 0.933), 0.939 (0.915, 0.963), 0.887 (0.846, 0.930), 0.253 (0.133, 0.479), 0.282 (0.160, 0.497) and 0.355 (0.220, 0.573), respectively. AUCC showed a non‐linear relationship with DR, with an inflection point. Objectives The intramedullary nail is considered the gold standard for treating AO/OTA type A3.3 intertrochanteric fractures. However, it still faces a significant rate of failure, mainly due to the critical factor of comminuted lateral wall defects leading to inadequate proximal sliding compression. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the requirement of sliding compression in the treatment of unstable AO/OTA type A3.3 intertrochanteric fractures. To achieve this, we conduct a comparative analysis between two approaches: InterTAN alone and proximal femoral anti‐rotation blade nailing (PFNA) combined with lateral wall reconstruction for treating AO/OTA type A3.3 intertrochanteric fractures with lateral wall damage. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of patients who underwent intramedullary nailing fixation for AO/OTA type A3.3 intertrochanteric fractures at our hospital from January 2012 to January 2022. Patient characteristics as well as treatment details, including operative time, intraoperative blood loss, weight‐bearing time, fracture healing time, tip apex distance (TAD) loss, Harris hip scores (HHS), Parker–Palmer mobility score (PPMS), and postoperative complications, were collected and analyzed. Continuous variables were analyzed using independent sample t‐tests, while categorical variables were examined using the chi‐square test. For group comparisons, variance analysis was applied, and pairwise comparisons were conducted using the LSD‐t test. Results These patients were divided into PFNA combined with lateral wall reconstruction group (sliding compression group) and InterTAN fixation group (static fixation group) based on surgical methods. The operation time, intraoperative bleeding loss, HHS at 12 months and PPMS at 12 months in the sliding compression group were significantly higher than those in the static fixation group, and time to weight‐bearing and fracture healing time were significantly lower than those in the static fixation group (p 0.05). At 6 months postoperatively, femoral neck length was shortened compared to 2 days postoperatively in both groups, and the sliding compression group had a significantly greater degree of femoral neck shortening than the static fixation group (p

Abstract Background The mechanism of hepatitis B virus (HBV)‐induced carcinogenesis remains an area of interest. The accumulation of hepatitis B surface antigen in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) of hepatocytes stimulates persistent ER stress. Activity of the unfolded protein response (UPR) pathway of ER stress may play an important role in inflammatory cancer transformation. How the protective UPR pathway is hijacked by cells as a tool for malignant transformation in HBV‐related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still unclear. Here, we aimed to define the key molecule hyaluronan‐mediated motility receptor (HMMR) in this process and explore its role under ER stress in HCC development. Methods An HBV‐transgenic mouse model was used to characterize the pathological changes during the tumor progression. Proteomics and transcriptomics analyses were performed to identify the potential key molecule, screen the E3 ligase, and define the activation pathway. Quantitative real‐time PCR and Western blotting were conducted to detect the expression of genes in tissues and cell lines. Luciferase reporter assay, chromatin immunoprecipitation, coimmunoprecipitation, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence were employed to investigate the molecular mechanisms of HMMR under ER stress. Immunohistochemistry was used to clarify the expression patterns of HMMR and related molecules in human tissues. Results We found sustained activation of ER stress in the HBV‐transgenic mouse model of hepatitis‐fibrosis‐HCC. HMMR was transcribed by c/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) and degraded by tripartite motif containing 29 (TRIM29) after ubiquitination under ER stress, which caused the inconsistent expression of mRNA and protein. Dynamic expression of TRIM29 in the HCC progression regulated the dynamic expression of HMMR. HMMR could alleviate ER stress by increasing autophagic lysosome activity. The negative correlation between HMMR and ER stress, positive correlation between HMMR and autophagy, and negative correlation between ER stress and autophagy were verified in human tissues. Conclusions This study identified the complicated role of HMMR in autophagy and ER stress, that HMMR controls the intensity of ER stress by regulating autophagy in HCC progression, which could be a novel explanation for HBV‐related carcinogenesis.

Abstract Objective Tissue injury and inflammation are two potential outcomes of cerebral ischemia–reperfusion (I/R) injury. Salvianolic acid B (Sal B), isolated from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza, is one of the major water‐soluble compounds with a wide range of pharmacological effects including antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, antiproliferative, and neuroprotective effects. In the present study, we explored the neuroprotective effects and potential mechanisms of Sal B after I/R injury. Methods We induced cerebral ischemia in male CD‐1 mice through transient (60 min) middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO), and then injected Sal B (30 mg/kg) intraperitoneally. Neurological deficits, infarct volumes, and brain edema were assessed at 24 and 72 h after tMCAO. We detected the expression of Toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4), phosphorylated‐p38 mitogen‐activated protein kinase (P‐p38 MAPK), phosphorylated c‐Jun amino (N)‐terminal kinases (p‐JNK), nuclear factor‐κB (NF‐κB), and interleukin‐1β (IL‐1β) in the brain tissue. Results Compared with the tMCAO group, Sal B significantly improved neurological deficits, reduced infarct size, attenuated cerebral edema, and downregulated the expression of pro‐inflammatory mediators TLR4, p‐p38MAPK, p‐JNK, nuclear NF‐κB, and IL‐1β in brain tissue after I/R injury. Conclusion We found that Sal B protects brain tissues from I/R injury by activating its anti‐inflammatory properties.

Abstract Aim Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is common in different human pathologies, including cardiac diseases. Sphingosine kinase‐1 (SPHK1) represents an important player in cardiac growth and function. Nevertheless, its function in cardiomyocyte ER stress remains vague. This study sought to evaluate the mechanism through which SPHK1 might influence ER stress during myocardial infarction (MI). Methods MI‐related GEO data sets were queried to screen differentially expressed genes. Murine HL‐1 cells exposed to oxygen‐glucose deprivation (OGD) and mice with MI were induced, followed by gene expression manipulation using short hairpin RNAs and overexpression vectors. The activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) and SPHK1 expression was examined in cells and tissues. Cell counting kit‐8, TUNEL, DHE, HE, and Masson's staining were conducted in vitro and in vivo. The inflammatory factor concentrations in mouse serum were measured using ELISA. Finally, the transcriptional regulation of SPHK1 by ATF3 was validated. Results ATF3 and SPHK1 were upregulated in vivo and in vitro. ATF3 downregulation reduced the SPHK1 transcription. ATF3 and SPHK1 downregulation increased the viability of OGD‐treated HL‐1 cells and decreased apoptosis, oxidative stress, and ER stress. ATF3 and SPHK1 downregulation narrowed the infarction area and attenuated myocardial fibrosis in mice, along with reduced inflammation in the serum and ER stress in the myocardium. In contrast, SPHK1 reduced the protective effect of ATF3 downregulation in vitro and in vivo. Conclusions ATF3 downregulation reduced SPHK1 expression to attenuate cardiomyocyte injury in MI.

Abstract Complex weak structural planes and fault zones induce significant heterogeneity, discontinuity, and nonlinear characteristics of a rock mass. When an earthquake occurs, these characteristics lead to extremely complex seismic wave propagation and vibrational behaviors and thus pose a huge threat to the safety and stability of deep buried tunnels. To investigate the wave propagation in a rock mass with different structural planes and fault zones, this study first introduced the theory of elastic wave propagation and elastodynamic principles and used the Zoeppritz equation to describe wave field decomposition and develop a seismic wave response model accordingly. Then, a physical wave propagation model was constructed to investigate seismic waves passing through a fault, and dynamic damage was analyzed by using shaking table tests. Finally, stress wave attenuation and dynamic incompatible deformation mechanisms in a rock mass with fault zones were explored. The results indicate that under the action of weak structural planes, stress waves appear as a complex wave field decomposition phenomenon. When a stress wave spreads to a weak structural plane, its scattering may transform into a tensile wave, generating tensile stress and destabilizing the rock mass; wave dynamic energy is absorbed by a low‐strength rock through wave scattering, which significantly weakens the seismic load. Wave propagation accelerates the initiation and expansion of internal defects in the rock mass and leads to a dynamic incompatible deformation. This is one of the main causes for large deformation and even instability within rock masses. These findings provide an important reference and guide with respect to stability analysis of rock mass with weak structural planes and fault zones.

Abstract Red blood cells (RBC) are commonly known as cells with no nucleus or mitochondria and are assumed to be a transportation vehicle. This study confirms that RBC contain long DNA fragments inside with stain by both microscope and flow cytometry, which covers most nuclear and mitochondrial genome regions by next‐generation sequencing (NGS). Such characteristics demonstrate a significant difference compared with A549 cell line or paired peripheral blood mononuclear cell as nucleated cells. To further explore the characteristics of RNA DNA, DNA from 20 RBC samples is sequenced by NGS. Interestingly, several gaps and multiple regions with copy number variation are observed significantly different between different samples, which could be used to distinguish samples with different health status accurately. Using an in vitro co‐culture system, it is shown that RBC could absorb DNA‐bearing tumorigenic mutations from cancer cell lines but requires cell‐to‐cell contact. Finally, based on a small scale clinical trial, it is confirmed that common genetic mutations of cancer tissues could be detected in RBC from patients with early‐stage non‐small‐cell lung cancer. This study highlights a new biological phenomenon involving RBC and its translational potential as a novel liquid biopsy technology platform for early cancer screening and diagnosis of malignancy.

Abstract An efficient manufacturing system is key to maintaining a healthy economy today. With the rapid development of science and technology and the progress of human society, the modern manufacturing system is becoming increasingly complex, posing new challenges to both academia and industry. Ever since the beginning of industrialisation, leaps in manufacturing technology have always accompanied technological breakthroughs from other fields, for example, mechanics, physics, and computational science. Recently, machine learning (ML) technology, one of the crucial subjects of artificial intelligence, has made remarkable progress in many areas. This study thoroughly reviews how ML, specifically deep (reinforcement) learning, motivates new ideas for addressing challenging problems in manufacturing systems. We collect the literature targeting three aspects: scheduling, packing, and routing, which correspond to three pivotal cooperative production links of today's manufacturing system, that is, production, packing, and logistics respectively. For each aspect, we first present and discuss the state‐of‐the‐art research. Then we summarise and analyse the development trends and point out future research opportunities and challenges.

Background. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is one of the most severe complications after ovarian stimulation during assisted reproductive technology (ART). However, its pathogenesis still remains unclear. Melatonin is an important antioxidant factor in female reproduction and Sestrin-2 (SESN2) is reported to be involved in cellular response to different stress conditions. Whether or not melatonin and SESN2 are involved in OHSS is still a question to us clinicians. Methods and Results. We collected the granulosa cells of OHSS patients and focused on the role of SESN2 in OHSS. We also studied the role and mechanism of melatonin plays in OHSS patients. We found that the expression of SESN2 was increased in the granulosa cells of OHSS patients (n = 24) than those in controls (n = 15). Incubation with angiotensin II (1 μM, 2 μM) in HUVECs and H2O2 (0.1 mM, 0.2 mM) in KGNs increased the generation of ROS concurrent with the increased expression of SESN2, while melatonin treatment partly restored SESN2 levels. The mechanism study demonstrated that SESN2 was deeply involved in the regulation of AMPK and mTOR, whereas melatonin partially restored angiotensin II or H2O2 induced the activation of AMPK phosphorylation and the inhibition of mTOR, 4EBP1 and S6K1 phosphorylation, all of which could trigger cell apoptosis. Conclusions. These findings indicated that melatonin attenuated ROS-induced apoptosis through SESN2-AMPK-mTOR in OHSS. Thus, melatonin is likely to be a potential and important therapeutic agent for treating and preventing OHSS.

The increasing integration of renewable energy sources into modern electric grids has led to a rise in uncertain factors that must be managed to maintain voltage security during reactive power optimization (RPO). Traditional deterministic RPO methods fail to account for these uncertainties, which can result in power grid security issues such as voltage violations. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a data-driven interval-based reactive power optimization method (IRPOM). The IRPOM represents the uncertainties associated with renewable power generation and load demands as intervals within the RPO problem formulation. The proposed method uses an improved particle swarm optimization algorithm to solve the RPO problem. In each iteration, the uncertain power flow is solved using the optimizing-scenarios method- (OSM-) based interval power flow (IPF) algorithm. This approach calculates the real power losses and checks whether state quantities, including voltage, power flow, and generator output, exceed their limits. Furthermore, a data-driven modeling approach is introduced to reduce the conservativeness of the IRPOM solutions. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through detailed computational analysis on a modified IEEE 30-bus system. The results show that the proposed approach ensures economic efficiency while maintaining a low bus voltage threshold crossing probability close to zero.

Abstract Background The melanocortin receptor accessory proteins (MRAP1 and MRAP2) are well‐known endocrine regulators for the trafficking and signalling of all five melanocortin receptors (MC1R–MC5R). The observation of MRAP2 on regulating several non‐melanocortin G protein‐coupled receptors (GPCRs) has been sporadically reported, whereas other endogenous GPCR partners of the MRAP protein family are largely unknown. Methods Here, we performed single‐cell transcriptome analysis and drew a fine GPCR blueprint and MRAPs‐associated network of two major endocrine organs, the hypothalamus and adrenal gland at single‐cell resolution. We also integrated multiple bulk RNA‐seq profiles and single‐cell datasets of human and mouse tissues, and narrowed down a list of 48 GPCRs with strong endogenous co‐expression correlation with MRAPs. Results 36 and 46 metabolic‐related GPCRs were consequently identified as novel interacting partners of MRAP1 or MRAP2, respectively. MRAPs exhibited protein–protein interactions and varying pharmacological properties on the surface translocation, constitutive activities and ligand‐stimulated downstream signalling of these GPCRs. Knockdown of MRAP2 expression by hypothalamic administration of adeno‐associated virus (AAV) packed shRNA stimulated body weight gain in mouse model. Co‐injection of corticotropinreleasing factor (CRF), the agonist of corticotropin releasing hormone receptor 1 (CRHR1), suppressed feeding behaviour in a MRAP2‐dependent manner. Conclusions Collectively, our study has comprehensively elucidated the complex GPCR networks in two major endocrine organs and redefined the MRAP protein family as broad‐spectrum GPCR modulators. MRAP proteins not only serve as a vital endocrine pivot on the regulation of global GPCR activities in vivo that could explain the composite physiological phenotypes of the MRAP2 null murine model but also provide us with new insights of the phenotyping investigation of GPCR–MRAP functional complexes.

Abstract Biodegradable organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs) have drawn tremendous attention for potential applications such as green electronic skins, degradable flexible displays, and novel implantable devices. However, it remains a huge challenge to simultaneously achieve high mobility, stable operation and controllable biodegradation of OFETs, because most of the widely used biodegradable insulating materials contain large amounts of hydrophilic groups. Herein, it is firstly proposed fungal‐degradation ultraflexible OFETs based on the crosslinked dextran (C‐dextran) as dielectric layer. The crosslinking strategy effectively eliminates polar hydrophilic groups and improves water and solvent resistance of dextran dielectric layer. The device with spin‐coated 2,7‐dioctyl[1]benzothieno[3,2‐b][1]benzothiophene (C8‐BTBT) semiconductor and C‐dextran dielectric exhibits the highest mobility up to 7.72 cm2 V−1 s−1, which is higher than all the reported degradable OFETs. Additionally, the device still maintains high performance regardless of in an environment humidity up to 80% or under the extreme bending radius of 0.0125 mm. After completion of their mission, the device can be controllably biodegraded by fungi without any adverse environmental effects, promoting the natural ecological cycles with the concepts of “From nature, for nature”. This work opens up a new avenue for realizing high‐performance biodegradable OFETs, and advances the process of the “green” electrical devices in practical applications.

Abstract Aims/Introduction The early pathological changes of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) are mainly small nerve fiber injuries. Corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) is an easy, rapid, non‐invasive and repeatable technique to detect the damage of small nerve fibers. The purpose of this study was to explore the application of CCM in DPN and other chronic complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods A total of 220 individuals (48 normal healthy control participants and 172 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus) were included in the study. All participants were assessed and scored for neurological symptoms and neurological deficits, quantitative sensory test, neuroelectrophysiological test, and CCM. Results Corneal nerve fiber density, corneal nerve fiber length and corneal nerve branch density were significantly reduced in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus compared with normal healthy control subjects (P

Ezrin is an actin binding protein connecting the cell membrane and the cytoskeleton, which is crucial to maintaining cell morphology, intercellular adhesion, and cytoskeleton remodeling. Asthma involves dysfunction of inflammatory cells, cytokines, and airway structural cells. Recent studies have shown that ezrin, whose function is affected by extensive phosphorylation and protein interactions, is closely associated with asthma, may be a therapeutic target for asthma treatment. In this review, we summarize studies on ezrin and discuss its role in asthma-related airway inflammation and remodeling.

This study investigated the antiliquefaction property of the pile group. It is shown in the pore pressure ratio, pile acceleration, and bending moment response of saturated silt fine sand. The response law of pile acceleration and bending moment during liquefaction development is proved. The results show that liquefaction occurs in single piles, four piles, and six piles under the action of 0.35 g seismic wave. But the time of liquefaction is different. There is an obvious difference in the response of pile acceleration and bending moment during liquefaction. Liquefaction in the saturated silt fine sand develops from shallow to deep. The complete liquefaction of six piles takes the longest time, while the single pile takes the shortest time, and the average delay was 8.82 s. With the increase of the number of piles, there are some differences in pile acceleration, magnification factor, and pile bending moment, which are mainly reflected in time. The peak acceleration appearance of six piles was 3.08 s later than that of the single pile on average. The maximum bending moment appearance of six piles was 1.96 s later than that of the single pile on average. The acceleration and bending moment of the pile begins to attenuate when the pore pressure ratio increases. It shows that the saturated silt fine sand has softening and damping effect before liquefaction. In summary, the antiliquefaction performance of the pile group is better than that of a single pile. In the seismic design of pile foundation in liquefied soil, the antiliquefaction performance of the pile group is better.

The Modified Andreasen and Andersen model (MAA model) is commonly chosen to realize condensed particle packing in ultra-high-performance concretes (UHPCs). In the MAA model, the q (distribution modulus) is a parameter that plays a critical role in the UHPC matrix design. The objective of this study is to figure out the influence of the q for the compressive strength of UHPC-containing coarse aggregate (UHPC-CA). Therefore, a series of investigations were conducted, covering the following aspects: first, the traditional design procedure, based on the MAA model, of UHPC-CA is revised by taking water and steel fibers into account in the particle packing system. The results show that the revised design process of UHPC-CA yielded more excellent products with better workability and compressive strength. Second, different q values which are 0.2, 0.21, 0.22, 0.23, and 0.25 are employed. The results show that when q is 0.25, the maximum compressive strength can be achieved. However, the flowability decreases with the increase of the q value. Third, an empirical calculation of the optimal coarse aggregate content in the light of different q values and maximum size of coarse aggregate are proposed.

Background. Our previous work has shown that inflammatory processes play a detrimental role in the pathophysiology of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have been recognized as a key contributor to the proinflammatory response in AIS and could aggravate blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage. Recently, experimental and clinical researches showed that Edaravone Dexborneol (Eda.B), which is comprised of two active ingredients, Edaravone and (+)-Borneol, was effective in treatment of AIS. However, it is not clear whether the effects of Eda.B against AIS are related to NETs and BBB permeability. Methods. Experiment 1 was to detect the effects of Eda.B in AIS patients. Serum samples of volunteers and AIS patients were collected before and 3 days after Edaravone Dexborneol treatment. Markers of NETs and occludin were detected by ELISA kit. Experiment 2 was to explore the effects of Eda.B on experimental stroke mice. Male C57BL/6 mice were subjected to distal middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and treated with vehicle, Eda.B, or DeoxyribonueleaseI (DNase I). After stroke, the neurobehavioral tests, infarct volume, and cerebral blood flow evaluation were determined. Leakage of Evans blue was to assess the integrity of BBB. Western blot, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), and immunofluorescence were used to examine the expression of NETs and tight junction- (TJ-) associated proteins. Results. Eda.B significantly improved neurological function and cerebral blood flow but reduced infarct volume after experimental stroke. Eda.B downregulated level of NETs in serum samples of AIS patients and tissue samples of MCAO mouse cortex. Eda.B and DNase I alleviated BBB permeability by upregulating TJ-associated proteins. Conclusion. NETs are related to the early stage of AIS. Eda.B exerted neuroprotective effects and ameliorated BBB permeability after AIS.

Abstract Even though ZnO is commonly used as the ETL in the perovskite solar cell (PSC), the reactivity of perovskite deposited thereupon limits its performance. Herein, an ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid‐complexed ZnO (E‐ZnO) is successfully developed as a significantly improved electron selective layer (ESLs) in perovskite device. It is found that E‐ZnO exhibits higher electron mobility and better matched energy level with perovskite compared to ZnO. In addition, in order to eliminate the proton transfer reaction at the ZnO/perovskite interface, a high quality perovskite film fabrication process that requires neither annealing nor antisolvent is developed. By taking advantages of both E‐ZnO and the new process, the highest efficiency of 20.39% is obtained for PSCs based on E‐ZnO. Moreover, the efficiency of unencapsulated PSCs with E‐ZnO retains 95% of its initial value exposed in an ambient atmosphere after 3604 h. This work provides a feasible path toward high performance of PSCs, and it is believed that the present work will facilitate transition of perovskite photovoltaics in flexible and tandem devices since the annealing‐ and antisolvent‐free technology.

Abstract Background Accumulating evidence demonstrates that certain microRNAs play critical roles in epileptogenesis. Our previous studies found microRNA (miR)‐129–2‐3p was induced in patients with refractory temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). In this study, we aimed to explore the role of miR‐129–2‐3p in TLE pathogenesis. Method By bioinformatics, we predicted miR‐129–2‐3p may target the gene GABRA1 encoding the GABA type A receptor subunit alpha 1. Luciferase assay was used to investigate the regulation of miR‐129–2‐3p on GABRA1 3’UTR. The dynamic expression of miR‐129–2‐3p and GABRA1 mRNA and protein levels were measured in primary hippocampal neurons and a rat kainic acid (KA)‐induced seizure model by quantitative reverse transcription‐polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), Western blotting, and immunostaining. MiR‐129–2‐3p agomir and antagomir were utilized to explore their role in determining GABRA1 expression. The effects of targeting miR‐129–2‐3p and GABRA1 on epilepsy were assessed by electroencephalography (EEG) and immunostaining. Results Luciferase assay, qPCR, and Western blot results suggested GABRA1 as a direct target of miR‐129–2‐3p. MiR‐129–2‐3p level was significantly upregulated, whereas GABRA1 expression downregulated in KA‐treated rat primary hippocampal neurons and KA‐induced seizure model. In vivo knockdown of miR‐129–2‐3p by antagomir alleviated the seizure‐like EEG findings in accordance with the upregulation of GABRA1. Furthermore, the seizure‐suppressing effect of the antagomir was partly GABRA1 dependent. Conclusions The results suggested GABRA1 as a target of miR‐129–2‐3p in rat primary hippocampal neurons and a rat kainic acid (KA) seizure model. Silencing of miR‐129–2‐3p exerted a seizure‐suppressing effect in rats. MiR‐129–2‐3p/GABRA1 pathway may represent a potential target for the prevention and treatment of refractory epilepsy.

Aiming at the problems existing in existing steganalysis algorithms, this article proposes Motion Vector Coding Cost Change video steganalysis features based on Improved Motion Vector Reversion-Based features and Subtractive Probability of Coding Cost Optimal Matching features based on Subtractive Probability of Optimal Matching features from the perspective of the change of coding cost. Motion Vector Coding Cost Change features can be well consistent with the coding cost before recoding by analyzing the sub-pixel coding cost of recoding. By counting the sub-pixel coding costs of motion vectors before and after video recoding, the Sum of Absolute Difference values of motion vectors instead of predicted residuals are applied to steganalysis and detection, and the steganographic algorithm based on motion vectors is effectively detected. Experiments show that Motion Vector Coding Cost Change features have higher detection accuracy than Add-or-Subtract-One, Improved Motion Vector Reversion-Based, and other typical features in various steganography methods, and Subtractive Probability of Coding Cost Optimal Matching features have higher detection effect and better robustness than Subtractive Probability of Optimal Matching features.

The evaluation of pore structure is an essential part in the assessment of carbonate reservoirs. The structures (geometry and connectivity) of nm to μm-scale pore networks in outcrop samples of carbonates from Xiaoerbulake Formation in Tarim Basin of China were studied by using optical microscopy, field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), as well as mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) with fractal analyses of the data, and spontaneous imbibition tests (distilled water). The results demonstrate that the lithologies are micritic dolomites, fine-to-medium-to-coarse crystalline dolomites, microbial dolomites, and dolarenite. At micro- to nanoscales in size, pore types are dominated by intergranular, intercrystalline, and intragranular (e.g., dissolution) pores. These pore networks have pore-throat diameters from 0.01 to >10 μm. Compared with a nanoscale pore network, the μm-scale pore networks are relatively well connected and serve as the most important permeability pathways. Although the pore volume accounts for most of the total porosity, the permeability of nanoscale pore networks is low. The existence of micro-nano-fractures could improve connectivity, especially for the nanoscale pore networks, by linking the intragranular (dissolution) pores which are mostly in the range of nm-scale.

Background. Accurate dyssynergic defecation (DD) diagnosis depends on anorectal physiological tests that are not widely available. Aim. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic yield of digital rectal examination (DRE) compared with anorectal physiological tests in diagnosing DD in patients with constipation. Methods. A total of 218 chronic constipation patients who fulfilled the Rome IV diagnostic criteria for functional constipation (FC) and underwent a standardized DRE and high-resolution anorectal manometry (HRAM) test were enrolled in this study. The diagnostic accuracy of DRE compared with HRAM was evaluated, and the agreement between DRE and HRAM was calculated. Furthermore, a comprehensive literature search on PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase database was conducted to further elucidate the pooled diagnostic accuracy of DRE in DD patients. Results. A total of 101 patients (46.33%) had a DD pattern using HRAM, while 117 patients (53.67%) were diagnosed without DD. The sensitivity of DRE in diagnosing dyssynergia was 71.3%, and the specificity was 76.1%. There was a moderate agreement between DRE and HRAM for diagnosing DD (κ-coefficient = 0.474, P

Small-strain shear modulus, Gmax, is a key evaluation index to study the dynamic characteristics of soil in geotechnical engineering. It is widely adopted to evaluate the stiffness of soft soil in soil dynamic engineering. In this paper, the cyclic triaxial tests and resonance column tests were carried out to explore the variation of Gmax of soft clay with respect to various confining stresses, cyclic shear stress ratios, pore pressures, and effective stress paths. Test results indicated that the effective stress decreased gradually with the increase of the cycle shear stress ratio. The failure points were mainly concentrated in a rectangular area, defined by the normalized effective stress from 0.56 to 0.64 and the normalized shear modulus from 0.72 to 0.78. Additionally, a short pause caused a small increase of 1-2% in Gmax as well as pore pressure. This study demonstrates that Gmax can be effectively used to characterize the failure of saturated soft clay in a more intuitive and convenient way, compared to the commonly used strain failure standards.

Objective. Preeclampsia (PE) is a severe complication in pregnancy and a leading cause of maternal and infant mortality. However, the exact underlying etiology of PE remains unknown. Emerging evidence indicates that the cause of PE is associated with genetic factors. Therefore, the aim of this study is to identify susceptibility genes to PE. Materials and Methods. Human Exome BeadChip assays were conducted using 370 cases and 482 controls and 21 loci were discovered. A further independent set of 958 cases and 1007 controls were recruited for genotyping to determine whether the genes of interest ROS1 and PTPRK are associated with PE. Immunohistochemistry was used for localization. Both qPCR and Western blotting were utilized to investigate the levels of PTPRK in placentas of 20 PE and 20 normal pregnancies. Results. The allele frequency of PTPRK rs3190930 differed significantly between PE and controls and was particularly significant in severe PE subgroup and early-onset PE subgroup. PTPRK is primarily localized in placental trophoblast cells. The mRNA and protein levels of PTPRK in PE were significantly higher than those in controls. Conclusion. These results suggest that PTPRK appears to be a previously unrecognized susceptibility gene for PE in Han Chinese women, and its expression is also associated with PE, while ROS1 rs9489124 has no apparent correlation with PE risk.

Low back pain (LBP) is a major physical and socioeconomic challenge worldwide. Nucleus pulposus (NP) is directly associated with LBP due to intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration. IVD degeneration is mainly caused by structural and matrix-related changes within the IVD occurring during aging and degeneration. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can differentiate into multiple mesenchymal lineages under specific stimulatory conditions. This study is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the nucleus pulposus cell (NPC) conditioned medium for promoting the expression of MSCs and at confirming the expression of healthy NP phenotypic markers recently recommended by the Spine Research Interest Group. Background Inflammation is recognized as an important contributor of ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) damage after ischemic stroke. Sphingomyelin synthase 2 (SMS2), the key enzyme for the biosynthesis of sphingomyelin, can function as a critical mediator of inflammation. In the present study, we investigated the role of SMS2 in a mouse model of cerebral I/R. Methods and Results Cerebral I/R was induced by 60‐minute transient middle cerebral artery occlusion in SMS2 knockout (SMS2‐/‐) mice and wild‐type mice. Brain injury was determined by neurological deficits and infarct volume at 24 and 72 hours after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion. Microglia activation and inflammatory factors were detected by immunofluorescence staining, flow cytometry, western blot, and RT‐PCR. SMS2 deficiency significantly improved neurological function and minimized infarct volume at 72 hours after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion. The neuroprotective effects of SMS2 deficiency were associated with (1) suppression of microglia activation through Toll‐like receptor 4/nuclear factor kappa‐light‐chain‐enhancer of activated B cells pathway and (2) downregulation of the level of galactin‐3 and other proinflammatory cytokines. The mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of SMS2 deficiency may include altering sphingomyelin components in lipid raft fractions, thus impairing the recruitment of Toll‐like receptor 4 to lipid rafts and subsequently reducing Toll‐like receptor 4/myeloid differentiation factor 2 complex formation on the surface of microglia. Conclusions SMS2 deficiency ameliorated inflammatory injury after cerebral I/R in mice, and SMS2 may be a key modulator of Toll‐like receptor 4/nuclear factor kappa‐light‐chain‐enhancer of activated B cells activation by disturbing the membrane component homeostasis during cerebral I/R.

The reactive power optimisation (RPO) is generally used to design an optimal profile of the voltage and reactive power of power systems in the steady state for deterministic sets of demand loads and generation values, and it is a significant procedure in voltage control. However, the input data of a power system is actually uncertain in practise, which makes RPO an uncertain non‐linear programme. To address this problem, the input data were considered as intervals, and the RPO incorporating interval uncertainties model was proposed. To solve this model, the genetic algorithm was employed as the solution algorithm, where the reliable power flow calculation was used to judge the constraints of the model. The Pareto front was established as the solution of the proposed model since it has two objective functions, i.e. the midpoint and radius of real power losses. The application of this technique to the uncertain RPO was explained in detail. Two numerical results were analysed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, especially in comparison with the previously proposed chance‐constrained programming method.

In this paper, we address the problem of vision-based satellite recognition and pose estimation, which is to recognize the satellite from multiviews and estimate the relative poses using imaging sensors. We propose a vision-based method to solve these two problems using Gaussian process regression (GPR). Assuming that the regression function mapping from the image (or feature) of the target satellite to its category or pose follows a Gaussian process (GP) properly parameterized by a mean function and a covariance function, the predictive equations can be easily obtained by a maximum-likelihood approach when training data are given. These explicit formulations can not only offer the category or estimated pose by the mean value of the predicted output but also give its uncertainty by the variance which makes the predicted result convincing and applicable in practice. Besides, we also introduce a manifold constraint to the output of the GPR model to improve its performance for satellite pose estimation. Extensive experiments are performed on two simulated image datasets containing satellite images of 1D and 2D pose variations, as well as different noises and lighting conditions. Experimental results validate the effectiveness and robustness of our approach.

The pharmaceutical wastewater (PW) produced during the production of antibiotics has a huge impact on the ecological environment. The efficient removal of residual antibiotics from PW has become a great challenge. Here, a ZIF-8/GO composite film, a new material, was prepared by loading ZIF-8/GO nanosheets onto the surface of a polyethyleneimine- (PEI-) modified nylon microporous support. This new material can effectively remove tetracycline (TC) from PW with a removal rate of 99%. In addition, the layer of ZIF-8/GO nanosheets on the surface of the carrier had certain defect sites. This feature not only made the film have a relatively high flux (502 L·m−2·h−1·bar−1) but also overcame the disadvantages of the traditional membrane separation technology, such as the high operation pressure required by the easy plugging of micropores. More importantly, the abovementioned advantages enable the novel material to be applied on a larger scale. A probable adsorption mechanism was investigated and suggested.

With the development of ship enlargement, the problems of coupling vibration between hull and propulsion system and vibration transmission via bearings are more and more prominent. Based on the theory of shaft vibration and the experimental system for dynamic characteristics of the shaft, an experiment plan about propulsion shaft vibration under dynamic excitations is designed in this paper. The performance of propulsion shaft vibration under hull deformation excitations applied on intermediate and stern bearings is studied. Hydraulic excitations in horizontal and vertical directions on the intermediate bearing and stern bearing of the experimental model of propulsion shaft are considered in this paper to simulate hull deformation on bearings of the ship. Vibration characteristics of the shaft under different excitations are gained and coupling effects are discussed. Moreover, the influences of amplitude and direction of excitations on bearings and the shaft rotation speed on the vibration of propulsion are studied. The results show that aiming at improving the safety and reliability of navigation, the hull deformation, especially the horizontal hull deformation excitation on the intermediate bearing, is not neglectable and should be considered during primary design. Also, rotation speed and resonant frequency are needed to be well designed with the frequencies of hull deformation excitations.

The dynamic compression properties of transversely isotropic rocks and their dependence on the confining pressure and bedding directivity are important in deep underground engineering activities. In this study, a slate is characterized using a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test. Five groups of samples with preferred bedding directions (dip angles of 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°) are subjected to coupled axial impact loading (low, medium, and high) under confining pressure (0, 5, and 10 MPa). The failure mode, dynamic strength, and Young’s modulus are investigated. The test results show that the tensile splitting effect is significant when there is no confining pressure. However, under a confining pressure (5 and 10 MPa) condition, the cracks that develop along the loading direction can be significantly constrained and the samples are forced to fail along the bedding plane. With increasing confining pressure, the critical dynamic strength significantly increases, and Young’s modulus increases when θ≥45° while it decreases when θ≤30°.

The properties of a modified cement slurry based on degraded waste PET-modified styrene-acrylic emulsions are studied. The effects of the modified styrene-acrylic emulsion on water consumption, setting time, retarding effect, water retention, impermeability, and mechanical properties of the cement slurry are comprehensively studied. The results show that the modified styrene-acrylic emulsion has the following impacts on the cement slurry: it significantly reduces the water consumption required to reach a standard consistency, slows down the initial and final setting times, and greatly improves the water retention rate and water reduction rate. When the content of modified styrene-acrylic emulsion is 7.5%, the water reduction rate is 36% and the water retention rate is 97%. The solidified cement slurry with a modified styrene-acrylic emulsion content less than 7.5% has lower permeability and higher flexural strength than a common cement slurry. The compressive strength is reduced but can still reach required values. According to SEM observations, the modified styrene-acrylic emulsion can enhance the bonding strength between the cement particles, reduce the porosity of the structure, and improve the performance of cement-based composites.

High-speed landslides that flow into reservoirs can cause impulsive water waves. To study the characteristics of the maximum impulse wave’s height and its attenuation, 25 sets of flume experiments were conducted using orthogonal theory and 6 main influencing factors were considered. Taking the impulse wave heights as the evaluation criteria and analyzing the 6 influencing factors at 5 different levels, the characteristics of the maximum impulse wave’s height and its attenuations were obtained. Then, statistical relationships between the maximum wave height and the controlling factors were proposed. Then, by combining the continuity equation and the hydrodynamic open channel transient flow movement equation, the process of landslide wave height attenuation was studied, and it was found that the attenuation of the wave is consistent with exponential attenuation. Then, combined with the data obtained from the orthogonal experiments, an attenuation equation for the surge was derived. Finally, the proposed equation was validated by applying it to the landslides that took place along the shore of the Zipingpu reservoir, which were triggered by the Wenchuan earthquake, and the results indicate that the calculated results are very close to the observed results.

In this study, we present a new method to calculate debris flow slurry impact and its distribution, which are critical issues for designing countermeasures against debris flows. There is no unified formula at present, and we usually design preventive engineering according to the uniform distribution of the maximum impact force. For conducting a laboratory flume experiment, we arrange sensors at different positions on a dam and analyze the differences on debris flow slurry impact against various densities, channel slopes, and dam front angles. Results show that the force of debris flow on the dam distributes unevenly, and that the impact force is large in the middle and decreases gradually to the both sides. We systematically analyze the influence factors for the calculation of the maximum impact force in the middle point and give the quantitative law of decay from the middle to the sides. We propose a method to calculate the distribution of the debris flow impact force on the whole section and provide a case to illustrate this method.

This paper studies the vibrational behavior and far-field sound radiation of a submerged stiffened conical shell at low frequencies. The solution for the dynamic response of the conical shell is presented in the form of a power series. A smeared approach is used to model the ring stiffeners. Fluid loading is taken into account by dividing the conical shell into narrow strips which are considered to be local cylindrical shells. The far-field sound pressure is solved by the Element Radiation Superposition Method. Excitations in two directions are considered to simulate the loading on the surface of the conical shell. These excitations are applied along the generator and normal to the surface of the conical shell. The contributions from the individual circumferential modes on the structural responses of the conical shell are studied. The effects of the external fluid loading and stiffeners are discussed. The results from the analytical models are validated by numerical results from a fully coupled finite element/boundary element model.
