Abstract

A new numerical method based on point-matching is presented to calculate leakage loss of fundamental mode in W-tunneling optical fibers. Calculation stability is tested. The relationship between leakage loss and optical fiber parameter is shown by numerical calculation. Numerical and experimental results are compared and they agree well with each other. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
