Abstract Objective High‐risk types of diffuse gliomas in adults include isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) wild‐type glioblastomas and grade 4 astrocytomas. Achieving noninvasive prediction of high‐risk molecular subtypes of gliomas is important for personalized and precise diagnosis and treatment. Methods We retrospectively collected data from 116 patients diagnosed with adult diffuse gliomas. Multiple high‐risk molecular markers were tested, and various habitat models and whole‐tumor models were constructed based on preoperative routine and diffusion kurtosis imaging (DKI) sequences to predict high‐risk molecular subtypes of gliomas. Feature selection and model construction utilized Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and support vector machine (SVM). Finally, the Wilcoxon rank‐sum test was employed to explore the correlation between habitat quantitative features (intra‐tumor heterogeneity score，ITH score) and heterogeneity, as well as high‐risk molecular subtypes. Results The results showed that the habitat analysis model based on DKI performed remarkably well (with AUC values reaching 0.977 and 0.902 in the training and test sets, respectively). The model's performance was further enhanced when combined with clinical variables. (The AUC values were 0.994 and 0.920, respectively.) Additionally, we found a close correlation between ITH score and heterogeneity, with statistically significant differences observed between high‐risk and non‐high‐risk molecular subtypes. Interpretation The habitat model based on DKI is an ideal means for preoperatively predicting high‐risk molecular subtypes of gliomas, holding significant value for noninvasively alerting malignant gliomas and those with malignant transformation potential.

Abstract The worldwide occurrence of wind droughts challenges the balance of power systems between energy production and consumption. Expanding inter‐day energy storage serves as a strategic solution, yet optimizing its capacity depends on accurately modeling future renewable energy uncertainties to avoid over‐ or under‐investment. Existing approaches that use the historical extreme scenario set (HESS) to represent future conditions are contentious due to potential inadequacies in forecasting future extreme scenarios (ESs), including those on a decadal or centennial scale. This study addresses the issue by proposing an advanced energy storage expansion framework that leverages Extreme Value Theory (EVT) and a novel Deep Generative Model, namely the Diffusion Model. To model the extremes in a principled way, this work leverages EVT to establish a severity‐probability mapping for wind droughts, guiding the training process of the Diffusion Model. This model excels in generating ESs that accurately reflect the distribution of real‐world extremes, thereby significantly enhancing the predictive capacity of HESS. Case studies on a real‐world power system confirm the method's capacity to generate high‐quality ESs, encompassing the most severe historical wind droughts not included in the training dataset, thereby facilitating resilient energy storage expansion against unforeseen extremes.

Objectives Currently, anterior‐only (AO), posterior‐only, and combined anterior–posterior spinal fusions are common strategies for treating cervical kyphosis in patients with neurofibromatosis‐1 NF‐1. Nevertheless, the choice of surgical strategy remains a topic of controversy. The aim of our study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of anterior decompression and spinal reconstruction for the treatment of cervical kyphosis in patients with NF‐1. Methods Twelve patients with NF‐1‐associated cervical kyphotic deformity were reviewed retrospectively between January 2010 and April 2020. All patients underwent AO correction and reconstruction. The X‐ray was followed up in all these patients to assess the preoperative and postoperative local kyphosis angle (LKA), the global kyphosis angle (GKA), the sagittal vertical axis, and the T1 slope. The visual analog scale score, Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score, and neck disability index (NDI) score were used to evaluate the improvement inclinical symptoms. The results of the difference in improvement from preoperatively to the final follow‐up assessment were assessed using a paired t‐test or Mann–Whitney U‐test. Results The LKA and GKA decreased from the preoperative average of 64.42 (range, 38–86) and 35.50 (range, 10–81) to an average of 16.83 (range, −2 to 46) and 4.25 (range, −22 to 39) postoperatively, respectively. Objective Both two‐level anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion (t‐ACCF) and posterior open‐door laminoplasty (ODLP) are effective surgical procedures for the treatment of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL). Previous studies have identified different effects of different surgical procedures on the upper and subaxial cervical spine (UCS, SCS), however, there are no studies on the effects of t‐ACCF and ODLP on the occipito‐atlantoaxial complex. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to compare the changes in sagittal parameters and range of motion (ROM) of the occipito‐atlantoaxial complex in OPLL patients treated with t‐ACCF and ODLP. Methods This was a retrospective study that included 74 patients who underwent t‐ACCF or ODLP for the treatment of OPLL from January 2012 to August 2022 at our institution. Preoperative, 3‐month, and 1‐year postoperative cervical neutral, flexion‐extension, and lateral flexion radiographs were taken. Sagittal parameters including Cobb angle of C2‐7, C0‐2, C0‐1, C1‐2, C2 slope, and the ROM were measured. The clinical outcome was assessed using the JOA, VAS, and NDI scores preoperatively and at 3 and 12 months postoperatively. Abstract Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality globally. We unveiled the diagnostic value of serum NLRP3, metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP‐9) and interferon‐γ (IFN‐γ) levels in post‐craniotomy intracranial infections and hydrocephalus in patients with severe craniocerebral trauma to investigate the high risk factors for these in patients with TBI, and the serological factors predicting prognosis, which had a certain clinical predictive value. Study subjects underwent bone flap resection surgery and were categorized into the intracranial infection/hydrocephalus/control (without postoperative hydrocephalus or intracranial infection) groups, with their clinical data documented. Serum levels of NLRP3, MMP‐9 and IFN‐γ were determined using ELISA kits, with their diagnostic efficacy on intracranial infections and hydrocephalus evaluated by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. The independent risk factors affecting postoperative intracranial infections and hydrocephalus were analysed by logistic multifactorial regression. The remission after postoperative symptomatic treatment was counted. The intracranial infection/control groups had significant differences in Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scores, opened injury, surgical time and cerebrospinal fluid leakage, whereas the hydrocephalus and control groups had marked differences in GCS scores, cerebrospinal fluid leakage and subdural effusion. Serum NLRP3, MMP‐9 and IFN‐γ levels were elevated in patients with post‐craniotomy intracranial infections/hydrocephalus. The area under the curve values of independent serum NLRP3, MMP‐9, IFN‐γ and their combination for diagnosing postoperative intracranial infection were 0.822, 0.722, 0.734 and 0.925, respectively, and for diagnosing hydrocephalus were 0.865, 0.828, 0.782 and 0.957, respectively. Serum NLRP3, MMP‐9 and IFN‐γ levels and serum NLRP3 and MMP‐9 levels were independent risk factors influencing postoperative intracranial infection and postoperative hydrocephalus, respectively. Patients with hydrocephalus had a high remission rate after postoperative symptomatic treatment. Serum NLRP3, MMP‐9 and IFN‐γ levels had high diagnostic efficacy in patients with postoperative intracranial infection and hydrocephalus, among which serum NLRP3 level played a major role.

Abstract Autonomous vehicles navigating urban roads require technology that combines low latency with high computing power. The limited resources of the vehicle itself compel it to offload task requirements to edge server (ES) for processing assistance. However, as the number of vehicles continues to increase, how edge servers reasonably allocate limited resources to autonomous vehicles becomes critical to the success of urban intelligent transportation services. This paper establishes an urban road scenario with multiple autonomous vehicles and an edge computing server and considers two main driving behaviour transition resource requests, namely car‐following behaviour requests and lane‐changing behaviour requests. Simultaneously, acknowledging that vehicles may encounter unforeseen traffic hazards when switching driving behaviours, a safety redundancy setting strategy is employed to allocate additional resources to the vehicle to ensure safety and model the vehicle resource allocation problem in the autonomous driving system. Double‐deep Q‐network (DDQN) is then used to solve this model and maximize the total system utility by comprehensively considering resource costs, system revenue, and autonomous vehicle safety. Finally, results from the simulation experiment indicate that the proposed dynamic resource allocation scheme, based on deep reinforcement learning for autonomous vehicles under edge computing, not only greatly improves the system's benefits and reduces processing delays compared to traditional greedy algorithms and value iteration, but also effectively ensures security.

Abstract In this article, a new differential magnetic‐field probe with high detection sensitivity for near‐field scanning is proposed. The proposed probe consists of a U‐shaped differential loop as a driven element, a pair of asymmetric inverted U‐shaped differential loops as a parasitic element, two transmission line, two connected vias, two shorted vias, and two output ports. Connected and shorted vias are used to form the sensing structure with high sensitivity. Some shield vias are used to reject the unwanted electric–field coupling. The proposed probe is simulated, fabricated, and measured to demonstrate the design rationality. The measured results reveal that the presented probe has a higher detection sensitivity and a high electric‐field suppression ratio greater than −35 dB in the range of 0.01 to 20 GHz.

Abstract Background The effective therapeutic approach is still an unmet need for patients diagnosed with both lung cancer and interstitial lung disease (ILD). This is primarily due to the possible risk of ILD exacerbation caused by surgery or radiotherapy. The current study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of local ablative therapy (LAT) for this specific population. Methods Consecutive patients with non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and ILD who received LAT between January 2018 and August 2022 were enrolled, and propensity score matching (PSM) was utilized to match the non‐ILD group. The primary endpoint was recurrence‐free survival (RFS), and secondary endpoints included overall survival (OS), adverse events (AEs) and hospital length of stay (HLOS). Results The PSM algorithm yielded matched pairs in the ILD group (n = 25) and non‐ILD group (n = 72) at a ratio of 1:3. There were no statistically significant differences in RFS (median 16.4 vs. 18 months; HR = 1.452, p = 0.259) and OS (median: not reached vs. 47.9 months; HR = 1.096, p = 0.884) between the two groups. Meanwhile, no acute exacerbation of ILD was observed in the ILD group. However, the incidence of pneumothorax, especially pneumothorax requiring chest tube drainage, was significantly higher (36.0% vs. 11.2%, p = 0.005) among patients with NSCLC and co‐existing ILD, which resulted in longer HLOS (p = 0.045). Conclusion Although ILD was associated with a higher incidence of pneumothorax, the efficacy of LAT for NSCLC patients with ILD was comparable to those without ILD, suggesting that LAT might be a reliable and effective treatment option for this population, particularly in the early stage.

Objective The Isobar TTL dynamic fixation system has demonstrated favorable outcomes in the short‐term treatment of lumbar degenerative disc diseases (LDDs). However, there is a paucity of extensive research on the long‐term effects of this system on LDDs. This study aimed to evaluate the long‐term clinical and radiological outcomes of patients with LDDs who underwent treatment utilizing the Isobar TTL dynamic fixation system. Methods The study analyzed the outcomes of 40 patients with LDDs who underwent posterior lumbar decompression and received single‐segment Isobar TTL dynamic internal fixation at our hospital between June 2010 and December 2016. The evaluation of clinical therapeutic effect involved assessing postoperative pain levels using the visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI), both before surgery, 3 months after, and the final follow‐up. To determine the preservation of functional motion in dynamically stable segments, we measured the range of motion (ROM) and disc height of stabilized and adjacent segments preoperatively and during the final follow‐up. Additionally, we investigated the occurrence of adjacent segment degeneration (ASD). Results Forty patients were evaluated, with an average age of 44.65 years and an average follow‐up period of 79.37 months. Fourteen patients belonged to the spondylolisthesis group, while the remaining 26 were categorized under the stenosis or herniated disc group. The preoperative ROM of the stabilized segment exhibited a significant reduction from 8.15° ± 2.77° to 5.00° ± 1.82° at the final follow‐up (p 0.05). Conclusion The Isobar TTL dynamic fixation system is an effective treatment for LDDs, improving pain relief, quality of life (QoL) and maintaining stabilized segmental motion. It has demonstrated excellent long‐term clinical and radiographic results.

Abstract Background The modification of N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) plays a pivotal role in tumor by altering both innate and adaptive immune systems through various pathways, including the regulation of messenger RNA. The YTH domain protein family, acting as “readers” of m6A modifications, affects RNA splicing, stability, and immunogenicity, thereby playing essential roles in immune regulation and antitumor immunity. Despite their significance, the impact of the YTH domain protein family on tumor initiation and progression, as well as their involvement in tumor immune regulation and therapy, remains underexplored and lacks comprehensive review. Conclusion This review introduces the molecular characteristics of the YTH domain protein family and their physiological and pathological roles in biological behavior, emphasizing their mechanisms in regulating immune responses and antitumor immunity. Additionally, the review discusses the roles of the YTH domain protein family in immune‐related diseases and tumor resistance, highlighting that abnormal expression or dysfunction of YTH proteins is closely linked to tumor resistance. Key points This review provides an in‐depth understanding of the YTH domain protein family in immune regulation and antitumor immunity, suggesting new strategies and directions for immunotherapy of related diseases. These insights not only deepen our comprehension of m6A modifications and YTH protein functions but also pave the way for future research and clinical applications.

Abstract Target localization for distributed radars requires precise knowledge of the calibration errors in time, frequency, and space. Previous studies focus on the sensor location error and sensor directional error in space. This paper concentrates on the system errors in time and frequency which directly affect the targets estimation of range and velocity. Based on linear frequency modulation waveform, the impact of the system errors including sample interval, pulse repetition interval, and centre frequency are analysed. An alternating optimization algorithm is proposed to achieve the target localization, velocity estimation and system errors estimation simultaneously. Simulation shows the effectiveness of the algorithm and the influence on localization due to varying number of targets and radars.

Abstract Background Adaptive immunity is an important disease mediator of pulmonary vascular remodeling during pulmonary hypertension (PH) development, especially T‐cells lymphocytes. However, data for bibliometric analysis of T cell immunity in PH is currently vacant. This aimed to provide a comprehensive and visualized view of T‐cells research in PH pathogenesis and to lay a solid foundation for further studies. Methods The data was acquired from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Web of Science analytic tool was used to analysis the publication years, authors, journals, countries, and organizations. CiteSpace 6.2.R3, VOSviewer 1.6.16, and Scimago Graphica 1.0.35.0 were applied to conduct a visualization bibliometric analysis about authors, countries, institutions, journals, references, and keywords. Results Nine hundred and eight publications from 1992 to 2022 were included in the analysis. The results showed that Humbert Marc was the most prolific author. American Journal of Physiology Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology had the most related articles. The institution with the most articles was Udice French Research University. The United States was far ahead in the article output. Keywords analysis showed that “Pulmonary hypertension” was the most usually appeared keyword in the relevant literature, and included “T‐cells”, “Regulatory T cells”, and “Activated T cell.” “miRNA” of reference co‐citation clustering analysis demonstrated the possible T‐cell immunity activation mechanisms in PH. The most cited literature was published in the European Heart Journal by Galie N in 2016. The strongest citation burst of keyword is “gene expression” and terms such as “vascular remodeling,” “growth,” “proliferation,” and “fibrosis” are among the list, indicating that T‐cells interact with stromal vascular cells to induce pulmonary vascular remodeling. The strongest burst of cited reference is “Galie N, 2016.” Conclusions T‐cell immunity is an important pathogenesis mechanism for PH development, which may have interaction with miRNAs and stromal vascular cells, but the possible T‐cell immunity activation mechanisms in PH need to be investigated further.

Abstract Single atomic catalysts have shown great potential in efficiently electro‐converting O2 to H2O2 with high selectivity. However, the impact of coordination environment and introduction of extra metallic aggregates on catalytic performance still remains unclear. Herein, first a series of carbon‐based catalysts with embedded coupling Ni single atomic sites and corresponding metallic nanoparticles at adjacent geometry is synthesized. Careful performance evaluation reveals NiSA/NiNP‐NSCNT catalyst with precisely controlled active centers of synergetic adjacent Ni‐N4S single sites and crystalline Ni nanoparticles exhibits a high H2O2 selectivity over 92.7% within a wide potential range (maximum selectivity can reach 98.4%). Theoretical studies uncover that spatially coupling single atomic NiN4S sites with metallic Ni aggregates in close proximity can optimize the adsorption behavior of key intermediates *OOH to achieve a nearly ideal binding strength, which thus affording a kinetically favorable pathway for H2O2 production. This strategy of manipulating the interaction between single atoms and metallic aggregates offers a promising direction to design new high‐performance catalysts for practical H2O2 electrosynthesis.

Abstract The Arabian Sea (AS) hosts the world's thickest and most intense oxygen minimum zone (OMZ), and previous studies have documented a dramatic decline of dissolved oxygen (DO) in the northeastern AS in recent decades. In this study, using the recently released data from Biogeochemical‐Argo floats, we found a surprising trend of recovery in deoxygenation within the core region of the OMZ in the AS (ASOMZ) since 2013. The average DO concentration increased by approximately threefold, from ∼0.63 μM in 2013 to ∼1.68 μM in 2022, and the thickness of the ASOMZ decreased by 13%. We find that the weakening of Oman upwelling resulting from the weakening of the summer monsoon is the main driver of oxygenation in the ASOMZ. In addition, the reduction of primary production linked to warming‐driven stratification reinforces deoxygenation recovery at depth.

Abstract Background In December 2022, a large‐scale epidemic occurred in China due to Omicron variant of SARS‐CoV‐2. This study explored risk factors for Omicron infection in transplant recipients at our institution and investigated the factors influencing the severity of SARS‐CoV‐2 Omicron infection among recipients of allo‐HSCT. Methods This single‐center study investigated totally 63 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients infected with Omicron variant at the Beijing GoBroad Boren Hospital Transplant Center during December 2022 and analyzed their risk factors. Results The study included 63 allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant patients who developed Omicron infection. There were 34 mild and 29 moderate to severe cases. Their median age was 22 years (range, 1–65 years), with the male‐to‐female ratio being 1:1.1. Acute myeloid leukemia (53.97%), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (42.86%), and non‐Hodgkin lymphoma (3.17%) were underlying diseases. The median time between HCT and Omicron infection was 8.45 months. Abstract Metastable endoperoxides with beta‐amyloid fibrils targeting benzothiazole moieties were designed and synthesized. Singlet oxygen released from these endoperoxides by thermal cycloreversion reaction was shown to cause significant structural changes on the amyloid assemblies. Most importantly, the cytotoxicity of the beta‐amyloid fibrils on the PC12 cells were significantly reduced in the presence of endoperoxides. This observation, coupled with the fact that neither external oxygen, nor light is needed for this transformation, is very promising.

Abstract Single‐atom alloys (SAAs) have gained increasing prominence in the field of selective hydrogenation reactions due to their uniform distribution of active sites and the unique host‐guest metal interactions. Herein, 15 SAAs are constructed to comprehensively elucidate the relationship between host‐guest metal interaction and catalytic performance in the selective hydrogenation of 4‐nitrostyrene (4‐NS) by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The results demonstrate that the SAAs with strong host‐guest metal interactions exhibit a preference for N─O bond cleavage, and the reaction energy barrier of the hydrogenation process is primarily influenced by the host metal. Among them, Ir1Ni SAA stands out as the prime catalyst candidate, showcasing exceptional activity and selectivity. Furthermore, the Ir1Ni SAA is subsequently prepared through precise synthesis techniques and evaluated in the selective hydrogenation of 4‐NS to 4‐aminostyrene (4‐AS). As anticipated, the Ir1Ni SAA demonstrates extraordinary catalytic performance (yield > 96%). In situ FT‐IR experiments and DFT calculations further confirmed that the unique host‐guest metal interaction at the Ir‐Ni interface site of Ir1Ni SAA endows it with excellent 4‐NS selective hydrogenation ability. This work provides valuable insights into enhancing the performance of SAAs catalysts in selective hydrogenation reactions by modulating the host‐guest metal interactions.

Abstract The fibrillation of amyloid‐β (Aβ) is the critical causal factor in Alzheimer's disease (AD), the dissolution and clearance of which are promising for AD therapy. Although many Aβ inhibitors are developed, their low Aβ‐binding affinity results in unsatisfactory effect. To solve this challenge, the Aβ sequence‐matching strategy is proposed to tail‐design dissociable nanosystem (B6‐PNi NPs). Herein, B6‐PNi NPs aim to improve Aβ‐binding affinity for effective dissolution of amyloid fibrils, as well as to interfere with the in vivo fate of amyloid for Aβ clearance. Results show that B6‐PNi NPs decompose into small nanostructures and expose Aβ‐binding sites in response to AD microenvironment, and then capture Aβ via multiple interactions, including covalent linkage formed by nucleophilic substitution reaction. Such high Aβ‐binding affinity disassembles Aβ fibrils into Aβ monomers, and induces the reassembly of Aβ&nanostructure composite, thereby promoting microglial Aβ phogocytosis/clearance via Aβ receptor‐mediated endocytosis. After B6‐PNi NPs treatment, the Aβ burden, neuroinflammation and cognitive impairments are relieved in AD transgenic mice. This work provides the Aβ sequence‐matching strategy for Aβ inhibitor design in AD treatment, showing meaningful insight in biomedicine.

Abstract In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), there are three conflicting important issues, including extensive coverage, low node redundancy, and energy consumption for secondary deployment. To balance network coverage and longevity, a WSN coverage model with three objectives is developed. A novel multi‐strategy gold rush optimizer is proposed for the coverage optimization problem in WSN. First, the fusion search method becomes extensive and flexible by combining the migration strategy with the Levy flight mechanism and joining a follower group. Then, the dynamic opposite learning strategy is used to increase population diversity in the panning stage. In addition, a multi‐player collaborative strategy is utilized to improve search ability of the algorithm in the collaboration stage. Finally, the random differential mutation method is used to try to assist the algorithm in escaping local optima. The simulation results show that this algorithm compared with other algorithms performs better on all three objectives considered.

Abstract Although immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer therapy by providing efficient tumor growth suppression, long‐term protection from recurrence as well as minimized side effects, the low response rate significantly limits the clinical application of immunotherapy in board types of solid tumors. In order to improve the therapeutic efficacy, conventional therapies including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, phototherapy and chemodynamic therapy are employed to combine with immunotherapy to elicit stronger antitumor immune responses. Polymer nanomedicines are frequently utilized in synergistic immunotherapy and other therapies owing to their tunable physiochemical properties, high drug loading capacity, ease of modification and low toxicity. With elaborate design and tailored properties, polymer nanomedicines can significantly enhance antitumor efficacy by enhancing tumor specificity, priming immune cells and amplifying immune responses in tumors. However, until now, there is no review solely dedicated to the comprehensive development of polymer‐based platforms for combinational immunotherapy of cancers. Herein, this paper summarizes latest advances in the design, fabrication and application of polymer nanomedicines in combinational immunotherapy and traditional antitumor strategies including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, photothermal therapy, photodynamic therapy and other therapies. An outlook on the trajectory and potential challenges of polymer nanomedicines in bridging the gap between immunotherapy and conventional therapies is also discussed.

Abstract With large‐scale renewable energy connected to the distribution network, the traditional method to solve the distribution network voltage/var power optimization model can hardly meet the needs of online optimization of the distribution network. Therefore, a Bayesian optimization eXtreme Gradient Boosting (BO‐XGBoost) based optimization strategy for voltage/var of the distribution network considering the cost of the photovoltaic (PV) power is proposed to improve the solving speed of the optimization model. First, the voltage/var optimization model of the distribution network considering the LCOE of the PV system is established. The optimal reactive power output command data set of the PV generation in the distribution network is obtained by solving the established optimization model. The XGBoost model is used to mine the nonlinear mapping relationship between the state information of the distribution network and the optimal reactive power output of the PV system; then the Bayesian algorithm is used to complete the adaptive optimization of the hyperparameters of the XGBoost model. Finally, the PG&E 69 node power distribution system is used to verify the advantages of the proposed strategy in improving the performance of the XGBoost algorithm, increasing the solving speed of the voltage/var optimization model, and reducing the LCOE of PV generation.

Objective Both the selective thoracic fusion (STF) and nonselective thoracic fusion (NSTF) are treatments for Lenke 1C adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). To date, the impacts of the two surgical strategies on patients' long‐term quality of life remain unclear. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the long‐term effects of STF/NSTF on the quality of life in Lenke 1C AIS patients through a 4–10‐year follow‐up. Methods From January 2011 to April 2018, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a retrospective single‐center study of 75 surgical patients with Lenke 1C curves was performed (n = 75). They all underwent posterior fusion, and patients were divided into the selective thoracic fusion (STF) group (n = 42) and the nonselective thoracic fusion (NSTF) group (n = 33) based on their surgical approach. All participants received the survey of the visual analogue scale (VAS), SRS30, SF12, and Oswestry disability index (ODI) scales. Patients' gender, age, body mass index (BMI), surgical approach (STF/NSTF), surgical segments (UIV and LIV), follow‐up time, complications, preoperative, postoperative, and last follow‐up Cobb angles, and health‐related quality of life (HRQOL) outcomes were collected, and analyzed through the Shapiro‐Wilks test, Wilcoxon rank‐sum test, t‐test, and χ2 test. Results The mean follow‐up of the entire cohort was 73 ± 5.6 months. The lumbar Cobb angle in the STF group improved from 31.8 ± 6.5° to 11.5 ± 5.1° after the operation and 10.3 ± 6.9° at the last follow‐up. The postoperative correction rate of the lumbar curve was 63.8%, which increased to 67.7% at the last follow‐up. In the NSTF group, the lumbar Cobb angle improved from 34.3 ± 11.3° to 4.3 ± 3.7° after the operation, and was 5.1 ± 3.1° at the last follow‐up. The postoperative correction rate of the lumbar curve was 87.4%, and 85.1% at the last follow‐up. At the last follow‐up, the STF group had higher overall HRQOL scores than the NSTF group, and there were statistically differences between the different groups (STF/NSTF) in SRS‐30‐Mental health (p = 0.03), SRS‐30‐Satisfaction with management (p = 0.02), SRS‐30‐Pain (p = 0.03), ODI (p = 0.01), SF‐12 PCS (p = 0.03), VAS back pain (p = 0.005) and VAS leg pain (p = 0.001). No statistically differences were found in SF12 MCS, SRS‐30‐Self‐image/Appearance and SRS‐30 Function/activity. Conclusion After 4–10 years of follow‐up, we found that the STF group achieved satisfactory correction results, and compared with the NSTF group, their overall HRQOL scores were higher, especially in terms of pain and satisfaction, where the STF group shows a significant advantage.

Objective Previous studies have confirmed that the nanohydroxyapatite/polyamide‐66 (n‐HA/PA66) cage is an ideal alternative material for degenerative lumbar disease (DLD) comparable to the polyether ether ketone (PEEK) cage due to its similar radiographic fusion, subsidence rate, and clinical results. However, these studies were restricted to one‐level surgery. The aim of this study was to analyze the long‐term clinical and radiologic outcomes between n‐HA PA66 cage and PEEK cage for patients with multi‐level degenerative lumbar diseases (DLDs). Methods We retrospectively reviewed all patients who underwent multi‐level transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) from June 2010 to December 2016 with a minimum 6‐year follow‐up. Matched‐pair analysis was performed using a 1‐to‐1 closest neighbor approach to match patients who received an n‐HA PA66 cage with those who received a PEEK cage. Clinical outcomes and radiographic evaluations were compared between the two groups. The independent student's t‐test and χ2‐test were applied to compare the differences between groups. Results At the end of the propensity score matching (PSM) analysis, 48 patients from n‐HA/PA66 group were matched to 48 patients in the PEEK group. No significant difference was observed in cage subsidence and bony fusion except for adjacent segment degeneration (ASD). The occurrence of ASD was 14.58% (7/48) in the n‐HA/PA 66 group, which was significantly less than that in the PEEK group (33.33% [16/48]) (p = 0.031). Although the intervertebral space height (IH), segmental angle (SA) and lumbar lordosis (LL) significantly increased after surgery in both groups, there was no significant difference at any time point after surgery (p > 0.05). The visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry disability index (ODI) scores significantly improved in both groups at 3m postoperative, 1y postoperative and at final follow‐up. However, there were no significant differences in the VAS and ODI score at any time point (p > 0.05). The total complications and re‐admission rate were not different between the two groups. Conclusion Overall, our data suggest that the outcomes of n‐HA/PA66 cage group are comparable to those of the PEEK cage group, with a similar high fusion rate and low cage subsidence rate as PEEK cages, except its lower rate of ASD occurrence.

Objective Modic changes (MCs) are the most prevalent classification system for describing intravertebral MRI signal intensity changes. However, interpreting these intricate MRI images is a complex and time‐consuming process. This study investigates the performance of single shot multibox detector (SSD) and ResNet18 network‐based automatic detection and classification of MCs. Additionally, it compares the inter‐observer agreement and observer‐classifier agreement in MCs diagnosis to validate the feasibility of deep learning network‐assisted detection of classified MCs. Method A retrospective analysis of 140 patients with MCs who underwent MRI diagnosis and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria in Tianjin Hospital from June 2020 to June 2021 was used as the internal dataset. This group consisted of 55 males and 85 females, aged 25 to 89 years, with a mean age of (59.0 ± 13.7) years. An external test dataset of 28 patients, who met the same criteria and were assessed using different MRI equipment at Tianjin Hospital, was also gathered, including 11 males and 17 females, aged 31 to 84 years, with a mean age of 62.7 ± 10.9 years. After Physician 1 (with 15 years of experience) annotated all MRI images, the internal dataset was imported into the deep learning model for training. The model comprises an SSD network for lesion localization and a ResNet18 network for lesion classification. Performance metrics, including accuracy, recall, precision, F1 score, confusion matrix, and inter‐observer agreement parameter Kappa value, were used to evaluate the model's performance on the internal and external datasets. Physician 2 (with 1 year of experience) re‐labeled the internal and external test datasets to compare the inter‐observer agreement and observer‐classifier agreement. Results In the internal dataset, when models were utilized for the detection and classification of MCs, the accuracy, recall, precision and F1 score reached 86.25%, 87.77%, 84.92% and 85.60%, respectively. The Kappa value of the inter‐observer agreement was 0.768 (95% CI: 0.656, 0.847),while observer‐classifier agreement was 0.717 (95% CI: 0.589, 0.809).In the external test dataset, the model's the accuracy, recall, precision and F1 scores for diagnosing MCs reached 75%, 77.08%, 77.80% and 74.97%, respectively. The inter‐observer agreement was 0.681 (95% CI: 0.512, 0.677), and observer‐classifier agreement was 0.519 (95% CI: 0.290, 0.690). Conclusion The model demonstrated strong performance in detecting and classifying MCs, achieving high agreement with physicians in MCs diagnosis. These results suggest that deep learning models have the potential to facilitate the application of intelligent assisted diagnosis techniques in the field of spine research.

Objectives The treatment of scoliosis with a severe rib hump remains a major challenge. Traditional vertebral rotation techniques are not satisfactory, and thoracoplasty has many pulmonary complications that limit its application. A novel surgical device, the multiple screw distraction reducer (MSDR) system, provides longitudinal distraction during the corrective operation while at the same time providing lateral translation and axial derotation, which may facilitate the correction of a rib hump. This study was performed to investigate the effectiveness of the MSDR system for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) with a severe rib hump. Methods This was a case‐matched study of patients with retrospectively collected data from our hospital between January 2017 and December 2021. Sixty‐eight patients who underwent one‐stage posterior pedicle screw‐instrumented spinal fusion were matched by the Cobb angle of the main curve and rib hump. All patients underwent a minimum of 2 years of follow‐up. The patients were divided into two groups: the MSDR group (using the MSDR system, n = 34) and the DVR group (using direct vertebral derotation, n = 34). The patients were evaluated for the height of the rib hump, deformity correction, complications, and SRS‐30 scores. The unpaired Student's t‐test and Pearson's χ2‐test were used to compare the outcome measures between the two groups. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to examine the variables that affected the correction of a rib hump. Objective There is a lack of studies on the quality of life (QoL) after posterior laminectomy in patients with thoracic ossification of the ligamentum flavum (TOLF), and risk factors associated with poor prognosis remain controversial. Therefore, the present study was conducted to illustrate the QoL for TOLF patients after surgery and determine its relationship with their demographic, surgery‐related, clinical characteristics and imaging data. Methods One hundred and eighteen patients diagnosed with thoracic myelopathy because of TOLF were enrolled in this retrospective study. They all underwent posterior decompressive laminectomy from August 2010 to January 2022. The QoL was evaluated based on the EQ‐5D‐5L. Collecting gender, age, number of operations, compressed segments, Frankel grade, complications, body mass index (BMI), symptoms and duration, modified Japanese Orthopaedic Association (mJOA) score (preoperative), follow‐up time and type of ossification, increased signal on Sagittal T2‐weighted Images (ISST2I), occupancy rate and analyzing by Mann–Whitney U‐test, Kruskal–Wallis test, the χ2‐test, and logistic regression tests. Results Average follow‐up 70.8 months (18–149), the mean age was 59.74 ± 9.81 years and the mean score for the QoL based on the EQ‐5D‐5 L and visual analogue scale (VAS) score were 0.71 ± 0.28 and 78.88 ± 10.21 at the final follow‐up. Moderate and severe problems were found in the pain/discomfort in 22.0% of the patients. These mobility and usual activities numbers were slightly higher (24.6% and 30.4%, respectively). Abstract The importance of uncommon/rare oncogenic drivers in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was underscored during the 20th China Lung Cancer Summit. These drivers, while present in a significant proportion of NSCLC patients, remain a challenge for diagnosis and therapeutic targeting. In the never‐smokers/low smokers category with mutations such as EGFR and HER2, the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) remains suboptimal, attributed to lower PD‐L1 expression and tumor mutation burden (TMB). However, heavy smokers, often with mutations like KRAS, may derive benefits from ICIs, as supported by trials like CheckMate‐057. With the complex landscape of these drivers and their clinical implications, the summit culminated in six pivotal consensus points, aiming to guide future research and clinical decisions. Despite the advancements, the detection, interpretation, and therapeutic strategies involving these drivers necessitate further exploration and standardization.

Abstract Due to the ablative nature of high prescription in Stereotactic Radiosurgery or stereotactic body radiation therapy (SRS/SBRT), the normal tissue surrounding the CTV receives the dose higher than tissue's dose constraint. A concept of Red Shell is proposed to define and quantify these tissue damaged in SBRT, using biological equivalent dose (BED) concept. The combination of biological factors and physics factors, including serial and parallel organ, dose gradient, dose distribution and fractionations, are further discussed to interpret the clinical meaning of Red Shell. This concept can also help planner to improve the optimization in planning process.

Abstract Synthetic biology relies on the screening and quantification of genetic components to assemble sophisticated gene circuits with specific functions. Microscopy is a powerful tool for characterizing complex cellular phenotypes with increasing spatial and temporal resolution to library screening of genetic elements. Microscopy‐based assays are powerful tools for characterizing cellular phenotypes with spatial and temporal resolution and can be applied to large‐scale samples for library screening of genetic elements. However, strategies for high‐throughput microscopy experiments remain limited. Here, we present a high‐throughput, microscopy‐based platform that can simultaneously complete the preparation of an 8 × 12‐well agarose pad plate, allowing for the screening of 96 independent strains or experimental conditions in a single experiment. Using this platform, we screened a library of natural intrinsic promoters from Pseudomonas aeruginosa and identified a small subset of robust promoters that drives stable levels of gene expression under varying growth conditions. Additionally, the platform allowed for single‐cell measurement of genetic elements over time, enabling the identification of complex and dynamic phenotypes to map genotype in high throughput. We expected that the platform could be employed to accelerate the identification and characterization of genetic elements in various biological systems, as well as to understand the relationship between cellular phenotypes and internal states, including genotypes and gene expression programs.

Abstract Cushing's syndrome is a rare cause of myocardial infarction and heart failure. Herein, we report a female patient who presented acute myocardial infarction and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. The patient was found to have hypercortisolism secondary to adrenocortical adenoma and responded well to therapy. This case underlines the effects of hypercortisolism on the cardiovascular system. The clinical presentation of this patient is unique because non‐atherosclerotic myocardial infarction is rarely reported in Cushing's syndrome patients.

Abstract Recent droughts have severely threatened water security in many regions worldwide. Reservoirs, designed to combat droughts and secure water supply partially, are reported failing to fill up to the total capacity due to severe droughts. How bad is climate affecting reservoir filling up on a global scale? This issue has not been studied. We present a big picture of reservoirs in crisis using satellite altimetry. Thanks to the unique characteristics of CryoSat‐2, 525 reservoirs worldwide were investigated during 2010–2022. Results show that most reservoirs (93%) are found not fully filled up at least once. About 21% of reservoirs, which are mainly located in the Southern Hemisphere, show a significant decline in water levels. Moreover, about 20% of reservoirs with larger level fluctuations (>3 m) are located in less developed economies, indicating informed operation rules are needed. Further analyses indicate reservoirs are largely affected by extreme climate events, such as ENSO.

Resonant actuation and multi‐degree‐of‐freedom (DoF) actuation can optimize the output matrices and greatly expand the versatility of dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) for practical applications. However, developing a multi‐DoF resonant DEA that benefits both from the maximized stroke outputs in resonant actuation and the versatility in multi‐DoF actuation remains a challenging task due to the slow responses of the widely adopted acrylic elastomers and the exponentially scaled complexity in the nonlinear dynamics. Herein, a multi‐DoF resonant DEA is reported by adopting four radially organized planar DE units fabricated by low‐loss silicone elastomers to output versatile programmable two‐dimensional quasi‐static and resonant trajectories. The rich nonlinear dynamics of the proposed quad‐unit DEA (QUDEA) are characterized and the critical parameters for two‐dimensional trajectory programming are uncovered through extensive modeling and experimental studies. To showcase the two‐dimensional trajectory programming capabilities of the QUDEA, demonstrations of Chinese characters writing and hummingbird flapping patterns mimicking using the proposed QUDEA are developed. The proposed QUDEA is expected to have potential in various applications such as in experimental biology, biomimetic robotics, and industrial manufacturing devices.

Abstract Targeting cancer‐specific metabolic processes is a promising therapeutic strategy. Here, this work uses a compound library that directly inhibits metabolic enzymes to screen the potential metabolic targets in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). SHIN1, the specific inhibitor of serine hydroxymethyltransferase 1/2 (SHMT1/2), has a highly specific inhibitory effect on LUAD cells, and this effect depends mainly on the overexpression of SHMT2. This work clarifies that mitogen‐activated protein kinase 1 (MAPK1)‐mediated phosphorylation at Ser90 is the key mechanism underlying SHMT2 upregulation in LUAD and that this phosphorylation stabilizes SHMT2 by reducing STIP1 homology and U‐box containing protein 1 (STUB1)‐mediated ubiquitination and degradation. SHMT2‐Ser90 dephosphorylation decreases S‐adenosylmethionine levels in LUAD cells, resulting in reduced N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) levels in global RNAs without affecting total protein or DNA methylation. Methylated RNA immunoprecipitation sequencing (MeRIP‐Seq) and RNA sequencing (RNA‐Seq) analyses further demonstrate that SHMT2‐Ser90 dephosphorylation accelerates the RNA degradation of oncogenic genes by reducing m6A modification, leading to the inhibition of tumorigenesis. Overall, this study elucidates a new regulatory mechanism of SHMT2 during oncogenesis and provides a theoretical basis for targeting SHMT2 as a therapeutic target in LUAD.

Abstract The water resources of the Third Pole (TP), highly sensitive to climate change and glacier melting, significantly impact the water and food security of millions in Asia. However, projecting future spatial‐temporal runoff changes for TP's mountainous basins remains a formidable challenge. Here, we've leveraged the long short‐term memory model (LSTM) to craft a grid‐scale artificial intelligence (AI) model named LSTM‐grid. This model has enabled the production of hydrological projections for the seven major river basins of TP. The LSTM‐grid model integrates monthly precipitation, air temperature, and total glacier mass changes (total_GMC) data at a 0.25‐degree model grid. Training the LSTM‐grid model employed gridded historical monthly runoff and evapotranspiration data sets generated by an observation‐constrained cryosphere‐hydrology model at the headwaters of seven TP river basins during 2000–2017. Our results demonstrate the LSTM grid's effectiveness and usefulness, exhibiting a Nash‐Sutcliffe Efficiency coefficient exceeding 0.92 during the verification periods (2013–2017). Moreover, river basins in the monsoon region exhibited a higher rate of runoff increase compared to those in the westerlies region. Intra‐annual projections indicated notable increases in spring runoff, especially in basins where glacier meltwater significantly contributes to runoff. Additionally, the LSTM‐grid model aptly captures the runoff changes before and after the turning points of glacier melting, highlighting the growing influence of precipitation on runoff after reaching the maximum total_GMC. Therefore, the LSTM‐grid model offers a fresh perspective for understanding the spatiotemporal distribution of water resources in high‐mountain glacial regions by tapping into AI's potential to drive scientific discovery and provide reliable data.

Existing surgical guidewire endpoint localization methods in X‐ray images face challenges owing to their small size, simple appearance, nonrigid nature of objects, low signal‐to‐noise ratio of X‐ray images, and imbalance between the number of guidewire and background pixels, which lead to errors in surgical navigation. An eight‐neighborhood‐based method for increasing the localization accuracy of guidewire endpoint to improve the safety of interventional procedures is proposed herein. The proposed method includes two stages: 1) An improved U‐Net network is employed for segmenting the data of the guidewire to extract regions of interest containing guidewire endpoints with higher precision and to reduce interference from other anatomical structures and imaging artifacts. 2) The proposed method detects guidewire endpoints using the adjacent relationship between pixels in the eight‐neighborhood regions. This stage covers skeletonization extraction, removal of bifurcation points, and repair of fracture points. This study achieves mean pixel errors of 2.02 and 2.13 pixels in an in vivo rabbit and porcine X‐ray fluoroscopy images, outperforming ten classic heatmap and regression methods, achieving state‐of‐the‐art detection results. The proposed method can also be applied to detect other tiny surgical instruments such as stents and balloons, while preserving the flexibility of the guidewire bending angle.

Abstract The live transport of farmed fish is an important practice in Chinese aquaculture due to consumer preferences in its domestic market. However, live transport can be stressful for fish and may cause many welfare issues. This study aimed to examine the effects of transport density on the welfare of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides). Adult fish were allocated to four experimental treatments in a two‐factor design (N = 5 groups per treatment). Factor one was stocking density of either 39 (low density) or 78 (high density) g L−1. Factor two was transport, with half of the fish groups exposed to simulated transport stress for 3 h using a motion platform, and the other half kept in static tanks for the same length of time. Baseline behavior and physiology were determined from a subset of fish after acclimation but before selection into groups and application of transport. To determine the effects of transport, stocking density, and their interaction on the experimental groups, physiological sampling and behavioral recording were carried out immediately after simulated transport, and water quality was measured both before and after transport. Changes in water quality were observed between two timepoints, with decreased dissolved oxygen levels and increased water temperature. Total ammonia nitrogen levels significantly increased in all treatments over time, particularly in the high‐density groups. Fish ventilation rates were significantly elevated in the groups kept at a high stocking density regardless of whether they also experienced transport stress. Fish transported at a high stocking density also showed more fear‐related behaviors such as freezing and thigmotaxis than non‐transported groups. Serum cortisol, catalase, and aspartate transaminase levels were significantly higher in the transported treatment groups compared to the baseline fish, but no difference was found for serum glucose, lactate, and glutathione peroxidase. We concluded that 3 h of simulated transport was stressful to largemouth bass kept at 78 g L−1, as evidenced by altered fish physiological and behavioral indicators of stress, as well as deteriorated water quality. Additionally, we identified a positive correlation between serum and skin mucus samples for cortisol, glucose, and lactate in transported fish, providing important information for developing less invasive methods for the welfare assessment of largemouth bass.

Background This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of parameters of every precordial lead and their combinations in differentiating between idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias (IVAs) from the right ventricular outflow tract and aortic sinus of Valsalva (ASV). Methods and Results Between March 1, 2018, and December 1, 2021, consecutive patients receiving successful ablation of right ventricular outflow tract or ASV IVAs were enrolled. The amplitude and duration of the R wave and S wave were measured in every precordial lead during IVAs. These parameters were either summed, subtracted, multiplied, or divided to create different indexes. The index with the highest area under the curve to predict ASV IVAs was developed, compared with established indexes, and validated in an independent prospective multicenter cohort. A total of 150 patients (60 men; mean age, 45.3±16.4 years) were included in the derivation cohort. The RV1+RV3 index (summed R‐wave amplitude in leads V1 and V3) had the highest area under the curve (0.942) among the established indexes. An RV1+RV3 index >1.3 mV could predict ASV IVAs with a sensitivity of 95% and a specificity of 83%. Its predictive performance was maintained in the validation cohort (N=109). In patients with V3 R/S transition, an RV1+RV3 index >1.3 mV could predict ASV IVAs, with an area under the curve of 0.892, 93% sensitivity, and 75% specificity. Conclusions The RV1+RV3 index is a simple and novel criterion that accurately differentiates between right ventricular outflow tract and ASV IVAs. Its performance outperformed established indexes, making it a valuable tool in clinical practice.

Abstract Using data from the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) mission, we explore the plasma properties of Martian magnetotail current sheets (CS), to further understand the solar wind interaction with Mars and ion escape. There are some CS exhibit energetic oxygen ions that show narrow beam structures in the energy spectrum, which primarily occurs in the hemisphere where the solar wind electric field (Esw) is directed away from the planet. On average, these CS have a higher escaping flux than that of the CS without energetic oxygen ion beams, suggesting different roles in ion escape. The CS with energetic oxygen ion beams exhibits different proton and electron properties to the CS without energetic oxygen ion beams, indicating their different origins. Our analysis suggests that the CS with energetic oxygen ion beams may result from the interaction between the penetrated solar wind and localized oxygen ion plumes.

Abstract Soil biotic and abiotic factors can affect the interaction between invasive and native species. However, it is not yet clear how arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis affects the interaction between adult invasive plants and neighboring seedlings. We used an invasive weed (Bidens frondosa) to test the hypothesis that adult invasive plants facilitate the growth of neighboring seedlings through AM symbiosis, and this facilitation can be inhibited by the biological stress of root‐knot nematode infection. The results showed that the height and total biomass of seedlings near the adult plant increased, indicating that the belowground effects mediated by AM symbiosis played a facilitative role. The positive growth response to resource allocation between adult plant and neighboring seedlings through mycorrhizal connection was inhibited when adult plants were infected by root‐knot nematode. Only the total biomass and root–shoot ratio of adult plants were increased, while seedling growth performance did not change. Our results supported the hypothesis that adult invasive plants can facilitate their neighboring seedlings growth through AM symbiosis and the benefits vary with biotic stress on adult plant. These findings provided important evidence to explain the role of AM symbiosis in plant invasion.

Abstract To improve the economy of offshore oil production platform shore‐based power transmission mode, the reactive power capacity allocation technology of offshore oil production platform shore‐based power supply system based on different network topology reliability measures was proposed. The optimization model of power supply system network topology and the structure model of voltage source converter high voltage direct current transmission system were established, the start and stop control scheme of flexible direct current (DC) transmission system was designed, and the operation parameters of converter station and DC line were monitored in real time. The topological structure of offshore oil production platform shore‐based power supply system is constructed, the mathematical model of flexible DC transmission system is established when the alternating current side voltage is balanced, the reactive power capacity configuration of offshore oil production platform shore‐based power supply system is optimized, and the life cycle cost results are calculated. The experimental results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can obtain the optimal solution only after 26 calculations, with high optimization efficiency and good convergence effect. Reactive capacity configuration of shore‐based power supply system for offshore production platform can reduce failure rate and life cycle cost.

Abstract Drought stress has been a key environmental factor affecting plant growth and development. The plant genome is capable of producing long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs). To better understand white mulberry (Morus alba L.) drought response mechanism, we conducted a comparative transcriptome study comparing two treatments: drought‐stressed (EG) and well‐watered (CK) plants. A total of 674 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) were identified. In addition, 782 differentially expressed messenger RNAs (DEmRNAs) were identified. We conducted Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG enrichment analyses focusing on the differential lncRNAs cis‐target genes. The target genes of the DElncRNAs were most significantly involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites. Gene regulatory networks of the target genes involving DElncRNAs–mRNAs–DEmRNAs and DElncRNA–miRNA–DEmRNA were constructed. In the DElncRNAs–DEmRNAs network, 30 DEmRNAs involved in the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites are collocated with 46 DElncRNAs. The interaction between DElncRNAs and candidate genes was identified using LncTar. In summary, quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR) validated nine candidate genes and seven target lncRNAs including those identified by LncTar. We predicted that the DElncRNAs–DEmRNAs might recruit microRNAs (miRNAs) to interact with gene regulatory networks under the drought stress response in mulberry. The findings will contribute to our understanding of the regulatory functions of lncRNAs under drought stress and will shed new light on the mulberry–drought stress interactions.

Abstract Hydrogen sulfide for wound healing has drawn a lot of attention recently. In this research, the S‐propargyl‐cysteine (SPRC), an endogenous H2S donor, was loaded on carbomer hydrogel, and a copper sheet rat burn model was developed. Pathological changes in rat skin tissue were examined using hematoxylin–eosin (HE) and Masson staining. The immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining was performed to detect the expression of Collagen I (Col I) and Collagen III (Col III). The mRNA levels of interleukin (IL)‐6, Col Iα2, Col IIIα1, tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase (TIMP)‐1, matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)‐9, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and transforming growth factor (TGF)‐β1 were examined by quantitative real‐time chain polymerase reaction. The findings demonstrated that the collagen layer was thicker in the SPRC group during the proliferative phase, SPRC hydrogel promoted VEGF expression. In the late stage of wound healing, the expression of IL‐6, TIMP‐1, MMP‐9, and TGF‐β1 was inhibited, and the Col I content was closer to that of normal tissue. These results surface that SPRC hydrogel can promote wound healing and play a positive role in reducing scar formation. Our results imply that SPRC can facilitate wound healing and play a positive role in reducing scar formation.

Abstract Purpose To address the regional lymph node (RLN) distribution and the long‐term efficacy in unilateral nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), providing elective irradiation for RLN with intensity‐modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). Methods The involvement of clinical data of 136 patients with unilateral NPC, who underwent IMRT from November 2003 to December 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. The therapeutic effect and failure pattern of RLN metastasis were evaluated. Results Of 57.1% patients have bilateral RLN metastasis. The rate of contralateral RLNs metastasis is lower than that of ipsilateral RLNs. Contralateral RLN metastasis mainly occurs in level VIIa (39.0%) and II (38.2%). While level IVa is only 0.7%, and none of RLN metastasis was found in level IVb and Va. The median follow‐up was 70 months, and the 3‐, 5‐and 10‐year regional recurrence‐free survival (RRFS) were 94.1%, 93.1%, and 93.1%, respectively. Conclusion Routine prophylactic irradiation may not include contralateral lower neck LN and level Va for N0‐1 unilateral NPC.

Objectives The three‐dimensional printing titanium (3DPT) cage with excellent biomechanical properties and osseointegration capabilities has been initially used in spinal fusion, while the polyetheretherketone (PEEK) cage, a bioinert material device, has been a widely used for decades with relatively excellent clinical outcomes. This study was performed to investigate the early radiographic and clinical outcomes of 3DPT cage versus PEEK cage in patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF). Methods This prospective controlled trial, from December 2019 to June 2022, included patients undergoing ACDF and TLIF with 3DPT cages and compared them to patients using PEEK cages for treating spinal degenerative disorders. The outcome measures included radiographic parameters (intervertebral height [IH], subsidence, fusion status, and bone‐cage interface contact) and clinical outcomes (Japanese Orthopaedic Association [JOA], Neck Disability Index [NDI], Oswestry Disability Index [ODI], Short Form 12‐Item Survey [SF‐12], Visual Analog Scale [VAS], and Odom's criteria). Student's independent samples t test and Pearson's chi‐square test were used to compare the outcome measures between the two groups before surgery and at 1 week, 3 and 6 months after surgery. Results For the patients undergoing ACDF, the 3DPT (18 patients/[26 segments]) and PEEK groups (18 patients/[26 segments]) had similar fusion rates at 3 months and 6 months follow‐up (3 months: 96.2% vs. 83.3%, p = 0.182; 6 months: 100% vs. 91.7%, p = 0.225). Objectives Decreased bone mineral density (BMD) is associated with complications in implantation surgery for severe spinal deformity. In this quantitative study, we aimed to investigate the impact of halo‐pelvic traction on vertebral bone mineral density (BMD) and identify the risk factors for a decrease in BMD. Methods Patients who underwent halo‐pelvic traction at our hospital between 2019 and 2022 were included in the study. Patients’ data, including height, weight, and BMD pre‐ and post‐traction, were collected and analyzed. Quantitative computed tomography (QCT) was used to determine the BMD. The paired rank sum test was used to evaluate the changes in each measurement parameter. Linear regression was used to identify risk factors for a decrease in BMD. Results Fifteen patients were included in the study, nine women and six men, with an average age of 21.2 ± 7.3 years. Eleven patients had severe rigid scoliosis, while four had tuberculotic kyphosis. One expert measured the BMD values of 345 vertebrae using QCT. The average traction time was 143.3 ± 44.4 days. Abstract In recent years, extreme weather events, such as typhoons, have led to large‐scale power outages in distribution systems. As a result, developing strategies to bolster distribution system resilience has become imperative. This paper proposes a two‐stage stochastic programming model aimed at enhancing this resilience. Prior to a typhoon, the first stage establishes a comprehensive wind field model based on extreme value distribution for accurate wind speed predictions. Simultaneously, a refined stress–strength interference model is used to determine the likelihood of distribution line failures. Taking into account the uncertainty of line damage, repair crews and mobile emergency generators are then strategically positioned at staging depots. Following the typhoon, the second stage coordinates network reconfiguration, dispatches repair crews, and mobilizes mobile emergency generators to minimize load shedding and expedite repairs. This model was validated on the IEEE 33‐bus distribution system, coupled with a corresponding transportation network, utilizing data from the 2018 super typhoon Mangkhut'' in China. Simulations indicate that our approach can effectively reduce load shedding and power outage durations, thereby enhancing the resilience of distribution systems.

Objective Although direct isthmic repair, such as PSVPH, did not affect the mobility of the fixed segment and adjacent segment, it has a relatively low rate of isthmic fusion compared with conventional fusion. The Isobar TTL dynamic internal fixation system has been widely used in clinical practice and has achieved satisfactory clinical results. However, the use of the Isobar TTL system in combination with direct isthmic repair for lumbar spondylolysis has rarely been reported. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical and radiologic outcomes between patients who underwent Isobar TTL system and PSVPH with direct repair of defect for lumbar spondylolysis. Methods Stepwise propensity score matching (PSM) for age and sex were performed to keep comparable clinical data between groups in this retrospective and matched‐pair case control study. A total of 50 patients diagnosed with lumbar spondylolysis underwent surgical implantation of the Isobar TTL group (n = 25) or PSVPH group (n = 25) from June 2009 to June 2016. Clinical outcomes were assessed using the Oswestry disability index (ODI), and visual analog score (VAS). Radiographic evaluations included range of motion (ROM) and the disc heights of stabilized segment and adjacent segment, adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) and bony fusion. Three‐dimensional reconstruction of lumbar CT scan was obtained to evaluate bone fusion of the isthmic at final follow‐up. The independent Student's t test and chi‐square test were applied to compare the differences between groups. Results A total of 25 patients from TTL group were matched to 25 patients in PSVPH group for age, sex, body mass index (BMI), defect side, spondylolisthesis meyerding, and follow‐up duration. The intervertebral space height (IH) of stabilized segment at postoperative 1 week and final follow‐up in the TTL group was higher than those in the PSVPH group, respectively (P = 0.030; P = 0.013). Abstract The potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is one of the most important food crops worldwide. Nevertheless, due to food safety concerns, substantial amounts of potatoes are not utilized, resulting in losses. Dormancy development is affected by potato variety, temperature, light, humidity, and so forth. Traditional and novel techniques to detect potato dormancy have been developed based on infrared spectroscopy, hyperspectral, and multispectral imaging systems in combination with simulation verification. This review describes the ability of novel approaches to address the uncertain hazardous issue and delay or inhibit potato dormancy incidence and development. Further, this review describes the role of carbohydrate metabolism and phytohormone regulation involved in potato dormancy, the mechanism of action to address dormancy, and challenges and recommendations moving forward. More work is needed to develop novel approaches toward addressing the problem of potato germination after harvest.

Abstract Neural Process (NP) fully combines the advantages of neural network and Gaussian Process (GP) to provide an efficient method for solving regression problems. Nonetheless, limited by the dimensionality of the latent variable, NP has difficulty fitting the observed data completely and predicting the targets perfectly. To remedy these drawbacks, the authors propose a concise and effective improvement of the latent path of NP, which the authors term Multi‐Latent Variables Neural Process (MLNP). MLNP samples multiple latent variables and integrates the representations corresponding to the latent variables in the decoder with adaptive weights. MLNP inherits the desirable property of linear computation scales of NP and learns the approximate distribution over objective functions from contexts more flexibly and accurately. By applying MLNP to 1‐D regression, real‐world image completion, which can be seen as a 2‐D regression task, the authors demonstrate its significant improvement in the accuracy of prediction and contexts fitting capability compared with NP. Through ablation experiments, the authors also verify that the number of latent variables has a great impact on the prediction accuracy and fitting capability of MLNP. Moreover, the authors also analyze the roles played by different latent variables in reconstructing images.
