Background Glycaemic control is a great challenge in the management of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). There is limited data concerning glycaemic control among adults with T1DM. We used data from the Guangdong T1DM Translational Medicine Study to evaluate glycaemic control and its associated factors in Chinese adults with T1DM. The vicinal H-H coupling constant in the AB2 spectrum, JAB, of 1, 1, 2-trisubstituted ethanes of the type XCH2-CHX2 has been measured in the medium of various solvents and at several different temperatures over the range of 238°-368°K. Based on rotational averaging and on the simple model of internal rotation about the C-C bond, a refiend Karplus equation for the vicinal coupling constant could yield the analytical expression which describes an explicit functional dependence of the vicinal coupling constant on internal rotation parameters, and permits evaluation of ΔE, the energy difference between rotamers, at any fixed temperature. For neat 1, 1, 2-trichloroethane ΔE was found to keep constant over the range of temperature variation studied, while in the case of neat 1, 1, 2-tribromoethane ΔE increases with increasing temperature in the same temperature range. In contrast to a small temperature effect a much pronounced medium effect on ΔE was observed for both 1, 1, 2-tribromoethane and 1, 1, 2-trichloroethane. At any fixed temperature ΔE decreases as dielectric constant of the solvent increases.

Measurements of the e.m. f.'s of the cell, have been made over a temperature range from 15° to 40°C. The standard e.m.f. of the Hg/Hg2Ac2(s), Ac− electrode was given by E0=−0.8640+1.832×10×3T−21.84×10−7T2. The thermodynamic properties of the reaction, Hg2Ac2(s)+2Cl−=Hg2Cl2(s)+2Ac− and those for the formation of Hg2Ac2(s) at 25°C were Computed.

The ionization constants of ferron (7-iodo-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulphonic acid) and the interaction between Th(IV) and ferron have been studied spectrophotometrically at 25° and ionic strength of 0.1. The ionization constants were found to be pK1=2.41±0.01, pK2=7.10±0.01. The Th(IV)-ferron chelate in aqueous solution of pH 5.0 exhibited a characteristic absorption maximum at 365 mμ. The composition of Th(IV)-ferron chelate was 1:4 mole ratio of Th(IV) ion and ferron, and the stability constant (log Kg) was 26.22±0.16.

E. M. F. of the Cell, Cd-Hg (2-phase)/CdAc2(m), Hg2Ac2(s)/Hg was measured at 20°, 25°, 30° and 40°C. The standard e. m. f. of the cell, Cd/CdAc3(m), Hg2Ac2(c)/Hg was evaluated as E°=1.1500−11.09×10−4T+1.06×10−8T2 The thermodynamic data of the reaction, Cd(c) + Hg2Ac2(c)=2Hg(l)+Cd++(aq)+2Ac−(aq) at 25°C were estimated as ΔF°=−42,139, ΔH°=−48,698 cal mole−1 and ΔS°=−22.0 cal deg−1 mole−1 at 25°C. The thermodynamic data for the formation of Hg2Ac2(s) were evaluated as ΔFf°=−202.3, ΔHf°=−154.5 Kcal mole−1 and S°=72.9 cal deg−1 mole−1. From measurements of the heats of solution of CdAc2·2H2O in aqueous solution, the relative partial molal enthalpies of cadmium acetate in aqueous solution were estimated.
