Objective To develop and evaluate a theoretical model to explain the relationships between eHealth literacy and perception of health, and perception of pregnancy risk in pregnant women. Method This cross-sectional study was carried out with 238 pregnant women in one of the hospitals in Turkey between March 15, 2021 and May 15, 2021. Data were collected using an Information Form, eHealth Literacy Scale, Perception of Health Scale, and Perception of Pregnancy Risk Questionnaire. Results The mean scores of the pregnant women participating in the study on eHealth literacy and perception of health were 30.45 +/- 6.56 and 51.42 +/- 6.91, respectively and their mean score on perception of pregnancy risk was 42.6 +/- 29.38. The direct effect of the eHealth Literacy Scale on the "Risk for Baby" subscale of the Perception of Pregnancy Risk Questionnaire was insignificant whereas the scale's effect became significant with the Perception of Health Scale (beta = -0.006; 0.057). Conclusion To reduce the perception of risk in pregnant women, it is important to improve not only their eHealth literacy but also their knowledge and attitudes about being healthy.

Objectives: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection often causes olfactory dysfunction and parosmia may occur in some patients with olfactory dysfunction. In this study, we retrospectively investigated the effectiveness of modified olfactory training (MOT) for the treatment of COVID-19-induced parosmia. Study Design: This study presents results of MOT performed with 12 odors for 36 weeks in patients with olfactory dysfunction following COVID-19 infection. A total of 75 participants were included in the study (mean age 33 years, range 16–60 years). Methods: The patients were separated into two groups: 1) Treatment group consisted of parosmia patients who received MOT with three sets of four different odors sequentially. 2) Control group consisted of parosmia patients who did not perform any olfactory training. Both groups were matched for age and sex distribution of participants. TDI scores were compared at the time of application and at the end of the 9th month by the Sniffin' Sticks Test. The results of the 0th and 9th months were recorded by applying the parosmia assessment scale to both groups. The results were analyzed statistically, and p < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: When the treatment group and the control group were compared, a significant improvement was observed in both groups at the third, sixth, and ninth month, however the improvement in the treatment group was found to be better than in the control group (P

Objectives The present study aimed to investigate the effects of acute hypoxia exposure following prenatal stress on the novelty-seeking behavior and hippocampus of adolescent rats. Methods The offspring were divided into prenatal stress (PS) and non-stress (NS) groups. Both groups were exposed to hypoxia on postnatal day 10 (P10) while control groups were undisturbed. Novel object recognition task was performed in each group. Next, brains were collected to examine hippocampus via immunohistochemical and biochemical studies on postnatal day 35 (P35). Results PS decreased novelty discrimination and synaptophysin (SYN) expressions in both CA1 and CA3 of the hypoxia group prominently (p < 0.05). Nestin-expressing cells were reduced while vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression was enhanced in the subgranular zone (SGZ) of PS-hypoxia group (p < 0.05). VEGF enhancement triggered angiogenesis in the CA1 and CA3 significantly (p < 0.05). PS also increased thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) levels in the hypoxia group as a result of oxidative stress (p < 0.05). Mononuclear transition metal complexes 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldiphenyl[dichloro(η6-p-cymene)ruthenium(II)]phosphinite, (2), 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldiphenyl[dichloro(η6-benzene) ruthenium(II)] phosphinite (3), 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldipheny[chloro(η4-1,5-cyclooctadiene)rhodium(I)]phosphinite (4), 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldiphenyl[dichloro (η5pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)iridium (III)] phosphinite (5) were synthesized and characterized by microanalysis, infrared, MS, and NMR spectroscopy. The biological activities of the complexes were also tested. Compounds 2 and 5 were the best complexes at DPPH radical scavenging and reducing power activity at 73.27 % and 0.41 at 200 μg/mL, respectively. The highest antimicrobial activity exhibited by complex 3 as 14 mm inhibition zone against S. aureus. All of the complexes have cleaved the DNA from the double-strand and exhibited three bands on gel electrophoresis. Moreover, cyclic voltammetry studies of the phosphinite complexes were carried out to determine the energies of the HOMO and LUMO levels as well as to estimate their electrochemical and some electronic properties.

Chronic wounds caused by underlying physiological causes such as diabetic wounds, pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers and infected wounds affect a significant portion of the population. In order to treat chronic wounds, a strong debridement, removal of necrotic tissue, elimination of infection and stimulation of granulation tissue are required. Maggot debridement therapy (MDT), which is an alternative treatment method based on history, has been used quite widely. MDT is an efficient, simple, cost-effective and reliable biosurgery method using mostly larvae of Lucilia sericata fly species. Larvae can both physically remove necrotic tissue from the wound site and stimulate wound healing by activating molecular processes in the wound area through the enzymes they secrete. The larvae can stimulate wound healing by activating molecular processes in the wound area through enzymes in their excretions/secretions (ES). Studies have shown that ES has antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, angiogenic, proliferative, hemostatic and tissue-regenerating effects both in vivo and in vitro. It is suggested that these effects stimulate wound healing and accelerate wound healing by initiating a direct signal cascade with cells in the wound area. However, the enzymes and peptides in ES are mostly still undefined. Examining the molecular content of ES and the biological effects of these ingredients is quite important to illuminate the molecular mechanism underlying MDT. More importantly, ES has the potential to have positive effects on wound healing and to be used more as a therapeutic agent in the future, so it can be applied as an alternative to MDT in wound healing. The green composite chitosan/tripolyphosphate/mushroom (C-TPP-PEE) was synthesized and evaluated for its adsorption performance of the dye Reactive Orange 16 (RO16), by using the batch technique. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and field emission scanning electron microscopy were employed to characterize the C-TPP-PEE. The maximum adsorption capacity of the RO16 dye for batch adsorption was determined as 736 mg g−1. The experimental kinetic data at equilibrium was found to be best fitted to the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The results showed that the adsorption isotherm was best correlated to the Langmuir model. The thermodynamic data indicated that the adsorption process was spontaneous, favorable, and endothermic.

In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) porous polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was prepared using a cheap material with a highly simple and different method. PDMS was firstly applied for the removal of carbol fuchsin (CF) cationic organic dye pollution in this study. Besides, the adsorption capacity of 3D PDMS for removal of the CF was found quite high compared to other materials in already published results. The synthesized PDMS was characterized using several spectroscopic and imaging techniques such as FTIR, Raman, SEM, stereomicroscope, EDX, UV/Vis, and TGA. The optimal conditions were found as 10 mg L-1 initial concentration, 20 mg of adsorbent dose, 2 h contact time, pH 10, and 25°C temperature. The removal % of CF and the maximum adsorption capacity were calculated at approximately 89% and 88.8 mg g-1 , respectively. Furthermore, the equilibrium studies showed that the Langmuir isotherm model fitted well with the removal of CF. Moreover, according to the kinetic results, the second-order kinetic model was found suitable (qe,cal 89.3 mg g-1 and qe,exp 88.8 mg g-1 close to each other) for the adsorption of CF. Also, the thermodynamic studies indicated that adsorption occurs spontaneously, and the adsorption process was physical adsorption. Besides, the reusability of the adsorbent was studied. Purpose:The aim of this study is to examine the effect of education on theindependence levels and life satisfaction (LS) of the elderly in their activities of dailyliving (ADL).Findings:The level of independence in maintaining the ADLs of the elderly in theintervention group that received training increased compared to the elderly groupthat was not trained. LS increased in the intervention group that received training.the number of education is an effective factor in LS. As the number of educationincreased, the level of LS increased in the intervention group.Conclusion:There is a linear relationship between independence in maintainingADLs and LS in the elderly, and as the level of independence increases in the elderly,their LS also increases. Purpose: To examine the popular dietary habits of nursing students and associated factors. Design and methods: A mixed study with quantitative and qualitative dimensions. Following the evaluation of quantitative data, interviews were conducted with 12 students, and data were analyzed by content analysis. Findings: The two main themes created were my mirror and the mirror of society as a vicious cycle. The reasons for being on a popular diet were determined to be the expectation of rapid weight loss, negative emotions, and body and beauty perception of society. Practice implications: It is concluded that students are in a vicious cycle of popular diets depending on different factors and that professional educator nurses have important duties in breaking this cycle.

WOS:000762352400001 Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a chemical contaminant that is not naturally present in carbohydrate-containing food samples. The HMF amounts were changed between 4.8 and 214.1 mg/kg in honey; between 7.8 and 204.0 mg/kg in pekmez (grape molasses); between 5.9 and 22.4 mg/kg in strawberry jam; between 6.0 and 65.4 mg/kg in apricot jam; and between 9.2 and 55.9 mg/kg in cherry found by HPLC. The linear calibration plot of HMF was ranged from 0.05 to 10.0 mu g/ml. The correlation coefficient was found to be 0.99997. LOD and LOQ values were found to be 12.0 and 40.0 ng/ml, respectively. According to the experimental results, HMF amounts of four honey samples, three pekmez (grape molasses) samples, one apricot jam, and one cherry jam for investigated samples were found to be higher than the permission amount of Turkish Food Codex. Novelty impact statement Based on experimental results in this study, if the honey is in a transparent package such as a glass, it should be stored in a dark environment. It would be healthier to prefer molasses produced by reliable brands at low temperatures under vacuum instead of molasses made with traditional methods in open boilers. Generally, since jams with high HMF amount have an overcooked or even burnt flavor, this is an extremely negative situation for consumers.

In this study, Streptomyces cellulosae AU-10 (GenBank accession number: MG780240) lipase was purified 7.08-fold with 68% yield using an aqueous 2-phase system. The Streptomyces sp. AU-10 lipase showed maximal activity at pH 9.0 and 40 degrees C. Hundred percent activities were measured in the pH range from 9.0 to 11.0 for 1 h. The enzyme was also highly stable at 30-50 degrees C. The values of K-m and V-max were calculated as 0.34mM and 0.83mMmin(-1), respectively. The lipase has high hydrolytic activity for olive oil and sunflower oil. The effect of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid on the enzyme has shown that the lipase is a metalloenzyme. The activity increased in the presence of Fe2+, Cu2+, and various boron compounds. The enzyme has shown a good stability not only with surfactants but also with oxidizing agents. In addition, activities in the presence of Omo, Ariel, Tursil, Pril, and Fairy were measured as 108.8%, 115.6%, 98.35%, 140.4%, and 107.6%, respectively. Considering its remarkable ability, the S. cellulosae AU-10 lipase can be considered as a potential additive in the detergent industry.

Growing V. arctostaphylos in Turkey is a substantial food, but information about its antioxidant activities is scarce. Other pharmacological properties of V. arctostaphylos, specifically antioxidant activity, contents of total phenolic, total flavonoid, total anthocyanin and ascorbic acid, are also not well explored. This study was designed to explore the in vitro antioxidant activities of ethanol extracts and chemical compositions such as ascorbic acid, total phenols, flavonoids and anthocyanins in V. arctostaphylos fruit and their jam (VAJ). Antioxidant activity, total phenolics, flavonoids, anthocyanins and ascorbic acid content changed during processing of jam depends on temperature. The results obtained in this study indicate that V. arctostaphylos fruit and their jam are potential sources of natural antioxidant.
