Sorting (SRT) and matching-to-sample (MTS) tests have measured the formation of arbitrary stimulus classes. This experiment used SRT and MTS tests to document the expansion of class size. Thirty-two participants learned 12 conditional discriminations with a linear series training structure (A➔B➔C➔D➔E). SRT tests documented the formation of 5-member classes by 17 of the participants. Thereafter, 6-member class expansion was implemented by FC training. Nine of these 17 participants showed class expansion when tracked with a sequence of an SRT, MTS, and a final SRT test, and the other 8 showed expansion when tracked with a sequence of MTS and SRT tests. Thus, SRT tests documented class expansion, and the sequence of tests did not influence class expansion. The 15 participants who did not form the 5-member classes learned the baselines for new 3-member classes (A➔B➔C) and formed them as documented by an SRT test. Then, 4-member class expansion was implemented by FB training. Expansion was assessed using the above-mentioned testing sequences. All 15 showed class expansion with 100% correspondence between the SRT and MTS performances. Sorting documented the expansion of arbitrary stimulus classes, while the MTS tests showed that the stimuli also functioned as members of equivalence classes.

We prove an extension theorem for ultraholomorphic classes defined by so-called Braun-Meise-Taylor weight functions and transfer the proofs from the single weight sequence case from V. Thilliez [28] to the weight function setting. We are following a different approach than the results obtained in [11], more precisely we are working with real methods by applying the ultradifferentiable Whitney-extension theorem. Let $F$ be a non-Archimedan local field, $G$ a connected reductive group defined and split over $F$, and $T$ a maximal $F$-split torus in $G$. Let $\chi_0$ be a depth zero character of the maximal compact subgroup $\mathcal{T}$ of $T(F)$. It gives by inflation a character $\rho$ of an Iwahori subgroup $\mathcal{I}$ of $G(F)$ containing $\mathcal{T}$. From Roche, $\chi_0$ defines a split endoscopic group $G'$ of $G$, and there is an injective morphism of ${\Bbb C}$-algebras $\mathcal{H}(G(F),\rho) \rightarrow \mathcal{H}(G'(F),1_{\mathcal{I}'})$ where $\mathcal{H}(G(F),\rho)$ is the Hecke algebra of compactly supported $\rho^{-1}$-spherical functions on $G(F)$ and $\mathcal{I}'$ is an Iwahori subgroup of $G'(F)$. This morphism restricts to an injective morphism $\zeta: \mathcal{Z}(G(F),\rho)\rightarrow \mathcal{Z}(G'(F),1_{\mathcal{I}'})$ between the centers of the Hecke algebras. We prove here that a certain linear combination of morphisms analogous to $\zeta$ realizes the transfer (matching of strongly $G$-regular semisimple orbital integrals). Let G denote a connected, quasi-split reductive group over a field F that is complete with respect to a discrete valuation and that has a perfect residue field. Under mild hypotheses, we produce a subset of the Lie algebra g(F) that picks out a G(F)-conjugacy class in every stable, regular, topologically nilpotent conjugacy class in g(F). This generalizes an earlier result obtained by DeBacker and one of the authors under stronger hypotheses. We then show that if F is p-adic, then the characteristic function of this set behaves well with respect to endoscopic transfer.

With the aim of investigating qualitatively and quantitatively the impact of using excited state relaxed or unrelaxed density for the estimation of nature and characteristic of electronic excited states, we analyzed the behavior of 52 exchange correlation functionals for the prediction of density-based indexes such as those recently introduced in literature to evaluate the charge transfer distance (DCT ) (Le Bahers et al. J. Chem. Theory Comput. 2011, 7, 2498) in the case of a prototype family of push-pull dyes. Our results show that while a qualitatively consistent assessment of the nature of the excited states is obtained using either the unrelaxed or the relaxed density, from a quantitative standpoint we observe large discrepancies in the charge transfer distance for electronic transitions having substantial CT character. This behavior is independent of nature of the exchange-correlation functional used. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Heteroatomic derivatives of Chichibabin's hydrocarbon are explored theoretically to highlight the relationship between the electronic structure and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. The results show that the systems are divided into two classes: one that has intermediate electronic structure between two main contributing resonance structures, and a second with an electronic structure that is approximated by only one resonance structure. It is found that the former class of derivatives exhibits approximately one-order larger static second hyperpolarizability (γ) than the latter class, because of either their intermediate diradical or charge-transfer (CT) characteristics. The asymmetric systems are further scrutinized by using the static electric field model, which shows that the intermediate CT character is essential for the very large enhancement of γ in the asymmetric systems. These results not only clarify the structure–property relationships of open-shell singlet NLO compounds with redox switching properties, but also shed light on a new and unexplored class of closed-shell NLO systems generated by the introduction of intermediate CT nature into open-shell singlet systems.

The α-arylation of carbonyl compounds is generally accomplished under basic conditions, both under metal catalysis and via aryl transfer from the diaryl λ3-iodanes. Here, we describe an alternative metal-free α-arylation using ArI(O2CCF3)2 as the source of a 2-iodoaryl group. The reaction is applicable to activated ketones, such as α-cyanoketones, and works with substituted aryliodanes. This formal CH functionalization reaction is thought to proceed through a [3,3] rearrangement of an iodonium enolate. The final α-(2-iodoaryl)ketones are versatile synthetic building blocks.

We calculate equivariant elliptic cohomology of the partial flag variety G/H, where H \subseteq G are compact connected Lie groups of equal rank. We identify the RO(G)-graded coefficients Ell_G^* as powers of Looijenga's line bundle and prove that transfer along the map {\pi}: G/H -\rightarrow pt is calculated by the Weyl-Kac character formula. We present a traffic flow model consisting of a gluing between the Lighthill-Whitham and Richards macroscopic model with a first-order microscopic following the leader model. The basic analytical properties of this model are investigated. Existence and uniqueness are proved, as well as the basic estimates on the dependence of solutions from the initial data. Moreover, numerical integrations show some qualitative features of the model, in particular the transfer of information among regions where the different models are used.

The theme of this study is control of the dimensional change before and after the transfer occurring in the transfer method. Choice of peelable layer materials and adhesives proved to be important for controlling dimensional change. Based on the results of this study, CF with ITO was actually fabricated by the new transfer method.

In a recent paper, Bindjeme and Fill obtained a surprisingly easy exact formula for the L2-distance of the normalized number of comparisons of Quicksort under the uniform model to its limit. Shortly afterwards, Neininger proved a central limit theorem for the error. As a consequence, he obtained the asymptotics of the L3-distance. In this short note, we use the moment transfer approach to re-prove Neininger's result. As a consequence, we obtain the asymptotics of the Lp-distance for all 1i¾?p

A detailed direct kinetic study has been carried out to compare the reaction rate of transferable group, Ph in mixed phenylzinc reagents, RPhZn (R = n-alkyl) and in homo diphenylzinc reagent, Ph2Zn in their reactions with allyl bromide in THF at 25–(−15) °C. Empirical rata law and activation parameters are consistent with a second-order substitution reaction. The allylation rate of transferable group Ph in RPhZn (R = n-alkyl) has been found higher than the rate of Ph group in Ph2Zn. A mechanism which accommodates the kinetic data and higher allylation rate of transferable group Ph in RPhZn than that in Ph2Zn is given. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The Ci¾?-free process starts with the empty graph on n vertices and adds edges chosen uniformly at random, one at a time, subject to the condition that no copy of Ci¾? is created. For every i¾?i¾?4 we show that, with high probability as ni¾?∞, the maximum degree is Onlogn1/i¾?-1, which confirms a conjecture of Bohman and Keevash and improves on bounds of Osthus and Taraz. Combined with previous results this implies that the Ci¾?-free process typically terminates with i¾?ni¾?/i¾?-1logn1/i¾?-1 edges, which answers a question of Erdi¾?s, Suen and Winkler. This is the first result that determines the final number of edges of the more general H-free process for a non-trivial class of graphs H. We also verify a conjecture of Osthus and Taraz concerning the average degree, and obtain a new lower bound on the independence number. Our proof combines the differential equation method with a tool that might be of independent interest: we establish a rigorous way to 'transfer' certain decreasing properties from the binomial random graph to the H-free process. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, we study a stability transfer theorem in d-tame metric abstract elementary classes, in a similar way as in 2, but using superstability-like assumptions which involves a new independence notion (ζ*-independence) instead of ℵ0-locality.

In 2010, Harn et al. proposed an authenticated group key transfer protocol-based secret sharing. In their protocol, for distributing a secret group key involving t group members, the key generation center (KGC) needs to broadcast a message containing (t + 1) elements to all group members, whereas each group member needs to compute a tth-degree interpolating polynomial to recover the secret group key. Thus, the protocol of Harn et al. is only suitable for small-size groups. We propose an improved protocol from the protocol of Harn et al. In our protocol, the size of a broadcasted message from the KGC is fixed, and each group member only needs to compute a fixed-degree interpolating polynomial to recover the group key. Thus, our protocol can be suitable for large-size groups. On the other hand, in the protocol of Harn et al., the KGC should be mutually trusted because it knows all group keys for every communication. If the KGC is untrustworthy, it can bring great threats to the group communications. In this paper, we also propose another improved group key transfer protocol based on untrustworthy KGC. The behavior of Λ-doublet resolved rotational energy transfer (RET) by Ar collisions within the SH(X(2)Π, v''=0) state is characterized. The matrix elements of terms in the interaction potential responsible for interference effects are calculated to explain the propensity rules for collision-induced transitions within and between spin-orbit manifolds. In this manner, the physical mechanisms responsible for the F(1)-F(1), F(2)-F(2), and F(1)-F(2) transitions may be reasonably identified. As collision energy increases, the propensity for collisional population of the final e or f level is replaced by the e/f-conserving propensity. Such a change in propensity rule can be predicted in terms of energy sudden approximation at high J limit for the pure Hund's case scheme.

Transfer'' is a venerable issue in cognitive development and education. However, its very existence is the subject of extensive debate, and there is as yet no consensus about its definition, measurement, and impli- cations. This article proposes a 3-dimensional conceptual model of transfer distance for thinking about transfer of concepts or strategies in children, and presents some recent findings on children's transfer of scientific reaso- ning strategies—task similarity, context similarity, and temporal interval—that exemplify these three dimensions. These studies yield several important and robust findings regarding children's learning and transfer in problem solving within this model, which provides a valuable organizing framework for objectively measuring transfer distance and for guiding future research in children's learning. Recently, we showed that unoccupied Kohn-Sham (KS) orbitals stemming from DFT calculations of a neutral system can be used to derive accurate estimates of the free energy and electronic couplings for excess electron transfer in DNA (Felix and Voityuk, J Phys Chem A 2008, 112, 9043). In this article, we consider the propagation of radical cation states (hole transfer) through DNA π-stacks and compare the performance of different exchange-correlation functionals to estimate the hole transfer (HT) parameters. Two different approaches are used: (1) calculations that use occupied KS orbitals of neutral π stacks of nucleobases, and (2) the time-dependent DFT method which is applied to the radical cation states of these stacks. Comparison of the calculated parameters with the reference data suggests that the best results are provided by the KS scheme with hybrid functionals (B3LYP, PBE0, and BHH in contrast, the spin-unrestricted DFT method considerably overestimates the hole delocalization in the radical cations. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A quantum mechanical calculation was performed to study the hydrogen atom transfer of collinear OH…O/OD…O system, for which Delves' coordinates and R-matrix propagation method were applied in a Melius-Blint potential energy surface. The calculation result showed that the state-state H atom transfer probability comported strong oscillation phenomena and collision delay time of the title system was in the fs-ps time scale. The kinetic isotope effect was calculated in this work too.

Hydrogen bonding to transition metal hydride complexes and its role in the proton transfer process has been a subject of the authors' research interest in recent years. The present microreview analyzes the relationships of kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of dihydrogen bonding, MH···HA, proton transfer, yielding [M(η 2 -H 2 )] species, and subsequent steps such as [M(η 2 -H 2 )] to [M(H) 2 ] isomerization or H 2 evolution on the basis of all data acquired so far. It aims at showing the factors that determine the stability of the species involved, the physico-chemical (thermodynamic and kinetic) origin of the effects observed, and, ideally, allow one to better govern the hydrides reactivity.

In a landmark paper, D.Y. Kleinbock and G.A. Margulis established the fundamental Baker-Sprindzuk conjecture on homogeneous Diophantine approximation on manifolds. Subsequently, there has been dramatic progress in this area of research. However, the techniques developed to date do not seem to be applicable to inhomogeneous approximation. Consequently, the theory of inhomogeneous Diophantine approximation on manifolds remains essentially non-existent. In this paper we develop an approach that enables us to transfer homogeneous statements to inhomogeneous ones. This is rather surprising as the inhomogeneous theory contains the homogeneous theory and so is more general. As a consequence, we establish the inhomogeneous analogue of the Baker-Sprindzuk conjecture. Furthermore, we prove a complete inhomogeneous version of the profound theorem of Kleinbock, Lindenstrauss & Weiss on the extremality of friendly measures. In this note, we perform Sklyanin's construction of commuting open-chain/boundary transfer matrices to the q-deformed SU(2|2) bulk S-matrix of Beisert and Koroteev and a corresponding boundary S-matrix. This also includes a corresponding commuting transfer matrix using the graded version of the q-deformed bulk S-matrix. Utilizing the crossing property for the bulk S-matrix, we argue that the transfer matrix for both graded and non-graded versions contains a crucial factor which is essential for commutativity.

This paper provides congruences between unstable and stable automorphic forms for the symplectic similitude group GSp(4). More precisely, we raise the level of certain CAP representations Π arising from classical modular forms. We first transfer Π toπon a suitable inner formG; this is achieved byθ-lifting. Forπ, we prove a precise level-raising result that is inspired by the work of Bellaiche and Clozel and which relies on computations of Schmidt. We thus obtain a$\tilde {\pi }$congruent toπ, with a local component that is irreducibly induced from an unramified twist of the Steinberg representation of the Klingen parabolic. To transfer$\tilde {\pi }$back to GSp(4), we use Arthur’s stable trace formula. Since$\tilde {\pi }$has a local component of the above type, all endoscopic error terms vanish. Indeed, by results due to Weissauer, we only need to show that such a component does not participate in theθ-correspondence with any GO(4); this is an exercise in using Kudla’s filtration of the Jacquet modules of the Weil representation. We therefore obtain a cuspidal automorphic representation$\tilde {\Pi }$of GSp(4), congruent to Π, which is neither CAP nor endoscopic. It is crucial for our application that we can arrange for$\tilde {\Pi }$to have vectors fixed by the non-special maximal compact subgroups at all primes dividingN. SinceGis necessarily ramified at some primer, we have to show a non-special analogue of the fundamental lemma atr. Finally, we give an application of our main result to the Bloch–Kato conjecture, assuming a conjecture of Skinner and Urban on the rank of the monodromy operators at the primes dividingN.
