Background Preoperative prediction of early recurrence (ER) of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) plays a critical role in individualized risk stratification and further treatment guidance. Purpose To investigate the role of radiomics analysis based on multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) for predicting ER in HCC after partial hepatectomy. Study type Retrospective. Population In all, 113 HCC patients (ER, n = 58 vs. non-ER, n = 55), divided into training (n = 78) and validation (n = 35) cohorts. Field strength/sequence 1.5T or 3.0T, gradient-recalled-echo in-phase T1 -weighted imaging (I-T1 WI) and opposed-phase T1 WI (O-T1 WI), fast spin-echo T2 -weighted imaging (T2 WI), spin-echo planar diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and gradient-recalled-echo contrast-enhanced MRI (CE-MRI). Assessment In all, 1146 radiomics features were extracted from each image sequence, and radiomics models based on each sequence and their combination were established via multivariate logistic regression analysis. The clinicopathologic-radiologic (CPR) model and the combined model integrating the radiomics score with the CPR risk factors were constructed. A nomogram based on the combined model was established. Statistical tests Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to evaluate the discriminative performance of each model. The potential clinical usefulness was evaluated by decision curve analysis (DCA). Results The radiomics model based on I-T1 WI, O-T1 WI, T2 WI, and CE-MRI sequences presented the best performance among all radiomics models with an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.771 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.598-0.894) in the validation cohort. The combined nomogram (AUC: 0.873; 95% CI: 0.756-0.989) outperformed the radiomics model and the CPR model (AUC: 0.742; 95% CI: 0.577-0.907). DCA demonstrated that the combined nomogram was clinically useful. Data conclusion The mpMRI-based radiomics analysis has potential to predict ER of HCC patients after hepatectomy, which could enhance risk stratification and provide support for individualized treatment planning. Objectives RING finger protein 8 (RNF8) is an E3 ligase that plays an essential role in DSB repair. p53 is a well‐established tumour suppressor and cellular gatekeeper of genome stability. This study aimed at investigating the functional correlations between RNF8 and p53 in DSB damage repair. Materials and methods In this article, wild‐type, knockout and shRNA‐depleted HCT116 and U2OS cells were stressed, and the roles of RNF8 and p53 were examined. RT‐PCR and Western blot were utilized to investigate the expression of related genes in damaged cells. Cell proliferation, apoptosis and neutral cell comet assays were applied to determine the effects of DSB damage on differently treated cells. DR‐GFP, EJ5‐GFP and LacI‐LacO targeting systems, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, IP, IF, GST pull‐down assay were used to explore the molecular mechanism of RNF8 and p53 in DSB damage repair. Results We found that RNF8 knockdown increased cellular sensitivity to DSB damage and decreased cell proliferation, which was correlated with high expression of the p53 gene. RNF8 improved the efficiency of DSB repair by inhibiting the pro‐apoptotic function of p53. We also found that RNF8 restrains cell apoptosis by inhibiting over‐activation of ATM and subsequently reducing p53 acetylation at K120 through regulating Tip60. Conclusions Taken together, these findings suggested that RNF8 promotes efficient DSB repair by inhibiting the pro‐apoptotic activity of p53 through regulating the function of Tip60.

Parathyroid adenomas may occur within the thyroid, clinically simulating thyroid nodules. Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of these presumably "thyroid nodules" can lead to misinterpretation of cytomorphological findings because of similarities in cytological features of parathyroid and thyroid lesions. Here, we reported two cases of intrathyroidal parathyroid adenomas. One of them was misinterpreted as thyroid lesions. The other was composed exclusively of oncocytic cells and had a correct cytological diagnosis. In this study, both cases showed a new cytological feature which has not been reported in the literature: many capillaries protruding outside the three-dimensional fragments without epithelial cells around. Platinum highly concave cubes with one leg on each vertex (hcclv) enclosed by {750} facets were conveniently synthesized for the first time through a one-pot solvothermal method in a mixed solvent of oleylamine and isopropanol containing platinum(ii) acetylacetonate. this method can also be extended to the synthesis of pt dendrite nanocubes at shorter reaction times. preferential overgrowth may facilitate the formation of pt hcclv in the presence of oleylamine and isopropanol. the pt hcclv exhibit excellent electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of methanol (7.76x) and ethanol (5.46x) compared to commercial pt black. furthermore, the pt hcclv show higher stability than pt dendrite nanocubes and commercial pt black. the pt hcclv also remarkably improve the electrochemiluminescence activity of the luminol/h2o2 system.

Porous pt75cu25 and pt73ni27 nanowires were successfully synthesized by a one-step wet chemical solution method without the use of any template for the first time. the combination of porous and one-dimensional features and the addition of a second cheap metal offer high catalyst utilization, excellent catalytic activity, and better durability for the methanol oxidation reaction. porous pt75cu25 and pt73ni27 nanowires showed mass current densities of 390 (at 0.69) and 503 ma mg(-1) (at 0.70 v), respectively. these mass current densities are much higher than that of pt nanowires (356 ma mg(-1) at 0.73 v) and commercial pt black (195 ma mg(-1) at 0.73 v). during the entire 2000 s current-time test, the porous pt75cu25 and pt73ni27 nanowires also exhibited higher stability for the methanol oxidation reaction than pt nanowires and commercial pt black.

2,4,6-Trinitrotoluene (TNT) is a widely used nitroaromatic explosive with significant detrimental effects on the environment and human health. Its detection is of great importance. In this study, both electrochemiluminescence (ECL)-based detection of TNT through the formation of a TNT-amine complex and the detection of TNT through electrochemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (ECRET) are developed for the first time. 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES)-modified [Ru(phen)3](2+) (phen=1,10-phenanthroline)-doped silica nanoparticles (RuSiNPs) with uniform sizes of (73±3) nm were synthesized. TNT can interact with APTES-modified RuSiNPs through charge transfer from electron-rich amines in the RuSiNPs to the electron-deficient aromatic ring of TNT to form a red TNT-amine complex. The absorption spectrum of this complex overlaps with the ECL spectrum of the APTES-modified RuSiNPs/triethylamine system. As a result, ECL signals of the APTES-modified RuSiNPs/triethylamine system are turned off in the presence of TNT owing to resonance energy transfer from electrochemically excited RuSiNPs to the TNT-amine complex. This ECRET method has been successfully applied for the sensitive determination of TNT with a linear range from 1×10(-9) to 1×10(-6) M with a fast response time within 1 min. The limit of detection is 0.3 nM. The method exhibits good selectivity towards 2,4-dinitrotoluene, p-nitrotoluene, nitrobenzene, phenol, p-quinone, 8-hydroxyquinoline, p-phenylenediamine, K3[Fe(CN)6], Fe(3+), NO3(-), NO2(-), Cr(3+), Fe(2+), Pb(2+), SO3(2-), formaldehyde, oxalate, proline, and glycine.
