BACKGROUND Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines (Xag) is a hazardous pathogen able to cause bacterial pustule disease in soybean, reducing crop yield and quality. Although flavonoids rutin and genistein are known to play an important role in soybean defence, soybean is only able to produce Biochanin A in low concentration. 5. Electronic Properties of Oxidized Cyclometalated Diiridium Complexes: Spin Delocalization Controlled by the Mutual Position of the Iridium Centers

Four cyclometalated diiridium complexes, with IrCp*Cl (Cp* = η5-C5Me5‒) termini bridged by 1,4- and 1,3-bis(p-tolylimino-ethyl)benzene (1, 2), or 1,4- and 1,3-bis(2-pyridyl)benzene (3, 4), were prepared and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (complexes 1, 2 and 4). The two iridium centres in complexes 1 and 3 are thus bound at the central benzene ring in the para-position (trans-Ir2), while those in complexes 2 and 4 in the meta-position (cis-Ir2). Cyclic voltammograms of all four complexes show two consecutive one-electron oxidations. The potential difference between the two anodic steps in 1 and 3 is distinctly larger compared to 2 and 4. The visible - near-infrared (NIR) - short-wave infrared (SWIR) absorption spectra of trans-Ir2 monocations 1+ and 3+ are markedly different from those of cis-Ir2 monocations 2+ and 4+. Notably, strong near-infrared electronic absorption appears only in the spectra of 1+ and 3+ while 2+ and 4+ absorb only weakly in the NIR-SWIR region. Combined DFT and TD-DFT calculations have revealed that (a) 1+ and 3+ (the diiridium-benzene trans-isomers) display HOSO and LUSO evenly delocalized over both molecule halves, and (b) their electronic absorptions in the NIR-SWIR region are attributed to mixed metal-to-ligand and ligand-to-ligand charge transfers (MLCT and LLCT). In contrast, cis-isomers 2+ and 4+ do not feature this stabilizing π-delocalization but a localized mixed-valence state showing a weak IVCT absorption in the SWIR region.

Multiresonance (MR)-induced thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters based on B- and N-embedded polycyclic aromatics are desirable for ultrahigh-definition organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) due to their high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and narrow bandwidth. But the reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) rates of MR-TADF emitters are usually small, resulting in severe device efficiency roll-off at high brightness. To solve this issue, a sensitizer for the MR-TADF emitter has been required. Herein, a new MR-TADF emitter is developed through coordination of Au with B/N-embedded polycyclic ligand. Three new isostructural 3D lanthanide metal-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs), {H[LnL(H2 O)]⋅2 H2 O}n (1-Ln) (Ln=Eu3+ , Gd3+ and Tb3+ ), based on infinite lanthanide-carboxylate chains were constructed by employing an ether-separated 5,5'-oxydiisophthalic acid (H4 L) ligand under solvothermal reaction. 1-Eu and 1-Tb exhibit strong red and green emission, respectively, through the antenna effect, as demonstrated through a combination of calculation and experimental results. Moreover, a series of dichromatic doped 1-Eux Tby MOFs were fabricated by introducing different concentrations of Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions, and they display an unusual variation of luminescent colors from green, yellow, orange to red. 1-Eu with channels decorated by ether O atoms and the open metal sites displays good performance for CO2 capture and conversion between CO2 and epoxides into cyclic carbonates.

Inflammation is considered to be critical in the pterygium progression and recurrence. However, the underlying molecular mechanism is not well understood. Herein, we investigated the potential role of RNA binding protein human antigen R (HuR) responsible for the impact of inflammation on pterygium development. The expression of HuR and matrix metallopeptidase-9 (MMP-9) in pterygium and normal conjunctiva was detected with immunohistochemistry and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The influence of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) on HuR expression and cellular distribution was determined with western blot and immunofluorescence. The pterygium fibroblast (PTF) migration was determined with scratch wound healing assay and Transwell migration assay. MMP-9 production was determined with qRT-PCR and gelatin zymography. The interaction between HuR and MMP-9 was investigated with RNP immunoprecipitation (IP) followed by RT-PCR and messenger RNA (mRNA) stability analysis. HuR and MMP-9 expression are elevated in pterygium, especially progressive pterygium compared with normal conjunctiva. IL-1β could increase the expression and nucleus-cytoplasm shuttle of HuR in cultured PTFs. HuR mediated the stimulatory effect of IL-1β on PTF migration and MMP-9 production. HuR bound to MMP-9 mRNA and in turn increased it stability. Our results suggest that posttranscriptional regulation of MMP-9 via stabilizing mRNA by HuR might contribute to the stimulatory effect of inflammatory factor IL-1β on pterygium progression. These findings shed light on the pathogenesis of pterygium and provide a promising target for adjuvant treatment of pterygium.

9. Precision treatment paradigm: Genomic features and therapeutic implications in mesenchymal‐epithelial transition‐amplified gastric cancer

Abstract Background Despite advances in treatments for gastric cancer (GC), new targets are needed to enhance treatment, especially when mesenchymal‐epithelial transition (MET) amplification is involved. Therefore, we investigated the genomic features of MET‐amplified GC and efficacy of anti‐MET therapy. Methods Genomic features were investigated in 2284 patients (cohort 1) and 438 patients in the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA cohort). RNA data were obtained from TCGA for expression analysis. Clinical responses of 71 patients (cohort 2) were investigated. Survival rates were compared by Kaplan–Meier and log‐rank tests. Results In cohort 1, 95 (4.2%) exhibited MET amplifications. In TCGA cohort, 15 (3.4%) exhibited MET amplifications. The five top mutated genes were TP53, CDH1, ARID1A, KMT2D and PIK3CA in cohort 1 and TTN, TP53, MUC16, LRP1B and SYNE1 in TCGA cohort. TP53, PIK3CA, KRAS and GNAS showed significant single nucleotide variants (SNVs) in cohort 1, and TP53 SNVs were significant in TCGA cohort. Fifteen and 18 genes showed significant copy number variations (CNVs) between the MET‐ and non‐MET‐amplified groups in cohort 1 and TCGA cohort, respectively. The PI3K pathway was significantly activated in Chinese patients with MET‐amplified GC (p = 0.002). TP53 expression is negatively associated with MET amplification. Real‐world data obtained with cohort 2 revealed that anti‐MET treatment significantly affected overall survival (OS) (p = 0.002), whereas CNVs did not affect progression‐free or OS even when treatment lines were considered. Conclusions MET‐amplified GC has a distinctive mutation landscape. Our findings provide valuable information for clinicians who treat patients with MET‐amplified GC.

10. Bond market integration of emerging economies and bilateral linkages

Although there are numerous studies that have looked at the spillover effects in equity markets, little attention has been paid to explore the integration of bond markets of developed and emerging economies. Our paper is an attempt to fill this void by quantifying the spillovers from developed countries on the bond markets of 25 emerging economies. We apply volatility and return spillover models to quantify the extent of the spillovers from developed markets (i.e. the United States, UK and Japan) into emerging bond markets. We find that the extent of the return spillovers and volatility spillovers has not been symmetric across emerging markets. We explain these differences using bilateral factors such as trade volume, portfolio investment, cultural and geographical factors. The bilateral trade volume turns out to be the leading explanation for the extent of spillovers between our set of countries.

11. Gene polymorphism and prediction of toxicity to platinum‐based chemotherapy in patients with gynecologic cancer

Abstract The relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at various loci and adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in patients with gynecologic cancer receiving platinum‐based chemotherapy (PPCT) remains unexplored. This research aimed to investigate the correlation between SNPs at several loci (e.g., GSTP1 rs1695, MTHFR rs1801133, XPC rs2228001, TP53 rs1042522, and ERCC1 rs3212986) and ADRs in patients with gynecologic cancer receiving PPCT. A total of 244 patients with gynecologic cancer who received first‐line PPCT were included in this retrospective study. Blood fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to detect genotypes. Logistic regression, Pearson's Chi‐square test, and Fisher's exact test were used to explore the correlations between these SNPs and the occurrence of ADRs. The logistic regression results showed that different genotypes of the five genes had no statistical significance in the overall grade greater than or equal to 3 ADRs. The results of Pearson's Chi‐square test showed the same results. On specific adverse reactions, we found that the rs1042522 GG genotype significantly increased the risk of grade greater than or equal to 3 leucopenia compared with the CG and the CC genotypes (p = 0.002). The rs1695 AG genotype showed higher correlation for grade greater than or equal to 3 neutropenia (p = 0.020). The rs2228001 CC genotype also had a higher risk for grade greater than or equal to 3 neutropenia (p = 0.003). This study found that whereas the overall grade greater than or equal to 3 adverse reactions in patients with gynecologic cancer receiving PPCT were not associated with SNPs, specific SNPs (rs1042522 GG, rs1695 AG, and rs2228001 CC) were linked to higher risks of leucopenia and neutropenia, indicating their potential as predictors of hematotoxicity in PPCT‐treated patients with gynecologic cancer.

Abstract The future vehicle‐to‐everything (V2X) scenarios greatly call for reliable and efficient communication links between roadside units (RSUs) and vehicles. Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) represents one of the key candidate technologies for 6G, which provides new solutions for this problem. In this paper, the beam tracking design for V2X communication is investigated by exploiting the ISAC technique, where the RSU uses the echoes of the ISAC signals to estimate the motion parameters of the vehicles. Compared with traditional feedback‐based beam tracking, the proposed method can reduce the overall signaling costs and improve communication robustness. Furthermore, to achieve high accuracy and low latency for beam alignment, a Trajectory Adaptive Unscented Kalman Filter (TA‐UKF) beam tracking algorithm is proposed, which obtains the optimal state transition model following the change of the vehicle state. Considering practical application scenarios, an ISAC‐based adaptive beam coverage (ISAC‐AC) scheme is further developed for the beam tracking of extended targets, which can achieve the beam misalignment of vehicles in practical scenarios. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed beam tracking and coverage strategies outperform baseline approaches.

2D materials, such as transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), graphene, and boron nitride, are seen as promising materials for future high power/high frequency electronics. However, the large difference in the thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) between many of these 2D materials could impose a serious challenge for the design of monolayer-material-based nanodevices. To address this challenge, alloy engineering of TMDs is used to tailor their TECs. Here, in situ heating experiments in a scanning transmission electron microscope are combined with electron energy-loss spectroscopy and first-principles modeling of monolayer Mo1- x Wx S2 with different alloying concentrations to determine the TEC. Significant changes in the TEC are seen as a function of chemical composition in Mo1- x Wx S2 , with the smallest TEC being reported for a configuration with the highest entropy. This study provides key insights into understanding the nanoscale phenomena that control TEC values of 2D materials.

16. Solvent-free Synthesis of Flowable Carbon Clusters with Customizable Size and Tunable Optical Performance

We propose a rapid and solvent-free route for synthesizing luminous carbon clusters by controlling carbonization of polyethylene glycol (PEG). This approach does not involve solvents yet uses the precursor itself as suspending medium, thus features mild and green chemistry, and also enables the formation of uniform-sized carbon clusters, of which the diameter can be easily tuned from 0.7 to 3.5 nm via control of reaction time. In term of the dimension, the resultants are denoted as sub-nano carbon clusters (SNCs) and carbon dots (CDs), respectively. Benefiting from surface anchored PEG segments, both of the two show favorable flowability at room temperature and excellent solubility in aqueous and organic solvents. Comparison of their optical performances and structures reveals that they share the same chromophores. Particularly, the SNCs demonstrate robust photo- and pH-stable photoluminescence and can be directly applied to cell-imaging regarding to its prominent biocompatibility. Moreover, its quantum yield (5.5%), which is approximately 3 times higher than that of CDs (1.5%), can be dramatically enhanced to 18.8% by facile chemical reduction. We anticipate that these PEG derivatives marked with easy synthesis, controllable optical performances and excellent physical properties will be highly appealing in future applications.

17. Involvement of RAGE, MAPK and NF-κB pathways in AGEs-induced MMP-9 activation in HaCaT keratinocytes

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) exert divergent effects on the pathogenesis of diabetes complications. Excessive expression of matrix metalloproteinases-9 (MMP-9) is deleterious to the cutaneous wound-healing process in the context of diabetes. However, the effect of AGEs on MMP-9 induction in skin cells and the exact molecular mechanisms involved are still poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the effect of AGEs on the production of MMP-9 in HaCaT keratinocytes and characterized the signal transduction pathways activated by AGEs that are involved in MMP-9 regulation. We showed that AGE-BSA increased MMP-9 expression in HaCaT cells at both the protein and mRNA levels. The stimulatory effect of AGE-BSA on MMP-9 was attenuated by inhibitors of extracellular-signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2, U0126), p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK, SB203580) and NF-κB, but not c-Jun N-terminal kinase. Furthermore, receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) was expressed in keratinocytes, and incubation with AGE-BSA resulted in a significant upregulation of RAGE expression in a dose-dependent manner. Silencing of the RAGE gene prevented AGE-BSA-induced MMP-9 activation and the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK. We also observed the involvement of NF-κB in AGE-BSA-induced MMP-9 activation, which was not blocked by U0126 and SB203580. These results suggest that AGEs may play an important role in the impairment of diabetic wound healing by upregulating MMP-9 expression in keratinocytes via the RAGE, ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK pathways; activation of NF-κB is also involved in this process. These pathways may represent potential targets for drug interventions to improve diabetic wound healing, a process in which MMP-9 plays a critical role.

Software reliability growth models (SRGMs) are very important for software reliability estimation and prediction and have been successfully applied in the critical airborne software. However, there is no general model which can perform well for different cases. Thus, some researchers proposed to obtain more accurate estimation and prediction than one single model by combining various individual SRGMs together. AdaBoosting is a commonly used machine learning algorithm for combining several weak predictors into a single strong predictor to significantly improve the estimating and forecasting accuracy, which may be very suitable for the combination of SRGMs. Hence, two novel AdaBoosting-based combination approaches for improving the parametric SRGMs are presented in this paper. The first one selects several variations of one original SRGM for obtaining the self-combination model (ASCM). The second selects several various candidate SRGMs for obtaining the multi-combinational model (AMCM). Finally, two case studies are presented and the results show that: (1) the ASCM is fairly effective and applicable for improving the estimation and prediction performance of its corresponding original SRGM without adding any other factors and assumptions; (2) the AMCM is notably effective and applicable for combining SRGMs because it has well applicability and provides a significantly better reliability estimation and prediction power than the traditional SRGMs and also yields a better estimation and prediction power than the neural-network-based combinational model. The optimization of traditional electrocatalysts has reached a point where progress is impeded by fundamental physical factors including inherent scaling relations among thermokinetic characteristics of different elementary reaction steps, non-Nernstian behavior, and electronic structure of the catalyst. This indicates that the currently utilized classes of electrocatalysts may not be adequate for future needs. This study reports on synthesis and characterization of a new class of materials based on 2D transition metal dichalcogenides including sulfides, selenides, and tellurides of group V and VI transition metals that exhibit excellent catalytic performance for both oxygen reduction and evolution reactions in an aprotic medium with Li salts. The reaction rates are much higher for these materials than previously reported catalysts for these reactions. The reasons for the high activity are found to be the metal edges with adiabatic electron transfer capability and a cocatalyst effect involving an ionic-liquid electrolyte. These new materials are expected to have high activity for other core electrocatalytic reactions and open the way for advances in energy storage and catalysis.

The observation data of four leveling measurements between 2002 and 2005, six GPS surveys between 2000 and 2005 as well as continuous tilt observation from 1999 to 2004 are systematically processed in this paper. The results demonstrate that: (1) From September 2000 to June 2002, the Tianchi volcano was basically in a quiescent status with no obvious deformation detected by GPS and InSAR observations; (2) Since summer of 2002, the Tianchi volcano became unrest. The horizontal deformations derived from GPS observations display a typical radiation movement pattern with the center at the crater lake, and leveling measurements also reveal rapid uplift around the lake; (3) The unrest process seems to have decayed rapidly year by year, for example, the maximum horizontal radiation movement of the GPS sites has decreased from the rate of 38.3 mm/a between September 2002 and September 2003 to the rate of 15.8 mm/a between September 2004 and September 2005, the maximum uplift rate of the leveling points also has decreased from 46.0mm/a between June 2002 and September 2003 to 5.0mm/a between September 2004 and September 2005.

An oxo-bridged dinuclear iron(III) complex, {[Fe(phen)(H2O)3]2O}(SO4)2, was synthesized and the molecular structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. Cyclic voltammetry shows that the complex has a cathodic peak at +0.325 V and a pair of redox peaks at +1.011 V and +0.811 V, respectively, which can be explained by an EC–C–EC mechanism. The binding property of the complex to fish-sperm DNA was investigated by electronic absorption spectrophotometry and electrochemical methods. The change in the electrochemical behavior of the complex after treatment with DNA shows that the oxo-bridged diiron(III) complex interacts with DNA mainly through electrostatic binding, while the electrochemical and chemical (EC–C) process product interacts mainly by intercalation. This result is further supported by experiments examining the influence of ionic strength. The difference in the binding modes of {[Fe(phen)(H2O)3]2O}(SO4)2 and its EC–C product, namely a mononuclear phen-ligated ferrous complex, to DNA implies that this strategy can be used to distinguish single-stranded (ss-) and double-stranded (ds-) DNA. The interaction of malachite green (MG) with double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) in pH 7.0 Britton–Robinson (B–R) buffer solution was investigated by electrochemical and spectrophotometric methods. Within the potential scan range of −1.0 to +1.5 V (vs. SCE), MG has two oxidative peaks at 0.547 V and 0.833 V and one reductive peak at 0.362 V on cyclic voltammogram at the scan rate of 0.20 V/s. After the addition of dsDNA into the MG solution, the oxidative peak current at 0.547 V decreases obviously. The electrochemical parameters, such as the charge transfer coefficient (α), the surface reaction rate constant (ks) and the diffusion coefficient (D), were calculated and compared between in the absence and presence of dsDNA. The results show that these parameters of MG after adding dsDNA have greatly changed, which indicates that an electrochemical active complex was formed. The interaction mechanisms of MG with dsDNA are discussed in some details from the electrochemistry and UV-vis spectrophotometry. The reduction of the peak current of MG after adding dsDNA was further used for the quantification of dsDNA by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The linear range for dsDNA is in the range of 10.0–100.0 μg/mL with the linear regression equation as Δip (μA)=0.065+0.0096 C (μg/mL) and the detection limit of 6.0 μg/mL (3σ). The influences of coexisting substances were investigated and artificial samples were determined with satisfactory results.

Introduction The diagnosis of psychoactive substance use disorders has been based primarily on descriptive, symptomatic checklist criteria. In opioid addiction, there are no objective biological indicators specific enough to guide diagnosis, monitor disease status, and evaluate efficacy of therapeutic interventions. Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS) of the brain has potential to identify and quantify biomarkers for the diagnosis of opioid dependence. The purpose of this study was to detect the absolute glutamate concentration in the nucleus accumbens (NAc) of patients with prescription opioid dependence using 1H MRS, and to analyze its clinical associations. Methods Twenty patients with clinically diagnosed definitive prescription opioid dependent (mean age = 26.5 ± 4.3 years) and 20 matched healthy controls (mean age = 26.1 ± 3.8 years) participated in this study. Patients were evaluated with the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11), the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), and the opiate Addiction Severity Inventory (ASI). We used point-resolved spectroscopy to quantify the absolute concentrations of metabolites (glutamate, choline, N-acetylaspartate, glutamine, creatine) within the NAc. The difference between metabolite levels of groups and Pearson's correlation between glutamate levels and psychometric scores in patients were analyzed statistically. Results Glutamate concentrations in the NAc were significantly higher in prescription opiate addicts than in controls (t = 3.84, p = .001). None of the other metabolites differed significantly between the two groups (all ps > .05). The glutamate concentrations correlated positively with BIS-11 scores in prescription opiate addicts (r = .671, p = .001), but not with SAS score and ASI index. Conclusions Glutamate levels in the NAc measured quantitatively with in vivo 1H MRS could be used as a biomarker to evaluate disease condition in opioid-dependent patients.

Abstract Lupus nephritis (LN) is one of the most severe manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The chronic graft versus host disease (cGVHD) mouse model is a well‐established model of SLE. LC3‐associated autophagy plays a critical role in extracellular particle clearance, including pathogens and apoptotic cells. Lupus Recipe (LR) is a Chinese herbal compound that has been proven to be effective in treating SLE. In the study, we investigated the protective effects of LR or LR combined with prednisone on cGVHD mouse model and LC3‐associated autophagy in the kidney. The mice were subjected to six groups. The LR treatment group received LR at the dosage of 1.15 and 2.3 g/kg/day, respectively. The corticosteroid treatment group received prednisone at a dosage of 5 mg/kg/day. The combination treatment group received LR at a dosage of 2.3 g/kg/day, and prednisone at 2.5 mg/kg/day. LR treatment reduced proteinuria and serum triglyceride levels, as well as spleen weight. LR also alleviated pathologic damage and immunoglobulin G deposition in the kidney. LR combined with a low dose of prednisone significantly improved kidney function and decreased serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, and spleen weight. In addition, combination treatment relieved kidney injury more effectively than LR alone. Western blot revealed that LR treatment or LR combined with prednisone increased the LC3‐associated autophagy protein of Rubicon and Nox2, as well as LC3I levels in the kidney tissues. In conclusion, LR inhibited the manifestation of cGVHD‐induced LN, which may attribute to the increased levels of LC3‐associated autophagy.

Making use of GPS observational data in area of the northeast margin of Qinghai–Xizang block in the years 1993 and 1999, the distribution figures of velocity field and apparent strain field of crustal horizointal movement of this area are given, and the method of directly solving the parameters of block rotation and deformation from displacement observation is presented, so the characteristics of tectonic block motion and deformation in this area are studied preliminarily. The results show that: (1) This area shows a whole motion toward east-southeast (whose velocity is about 9mm/a); (2) Gunsu–Qinghai block in the south of this area moves faster, but Alashan block in the north of this area moves slower, the difference of motion velocity between two blocks is near 6 mm/a, the sinistral strike slip movement of Qilian–Haiyuan fracture zone is remarkable; (3) There exists NNE-NEE compressional movement from west to east; (4) Inside Alashan block and Gansu–Qinghai block, there are NWW tensional deformations, the whole tensional deformation of Alashan block is even more obvious, moverover, in the meeting region of blocks in the west side of Ordos block, compressional movement is relatively remarkable.

Abstract Background Here, we investigated the relationship between clinical parameters, including the site of surgical anastomosis and radiation dose to the anastomotic region, and anastomotic complications in esophageal cancer patients treated with trimodality therapy. Methods Between 2007 and 2016, esophageal cancer patients treated with trimodality therapy at a tertiary academic cancer center were identified. Patient, treatment, and outcome parameters were collected. Radiation dose to the gastric regions were extracted. Anastomotic complication was defined as leak and/or stricture. We used Fisher's exact and Wilcoxon rank‐sum tests to compare the association between clinical parameters and anastomotic complications. Results Of 89 patients identified, the median age was 63 years, 82% (n = 73) were male, and 82% had distal (n = 47) or gastroesophageal junction (n = 26) tumors. Median follow‐up was 25.8 months. Esophagectomies were performed with cervical (65%, n = 58) or thoracic anastomoses (35%, n = 31). Anastomotic complications developed in 60% (n = 53). Cervical anastomosis was associated with anastomotic complications (83%, n = 44/53, p 0.05). In the subset of patients with distal/gastroesophageal junction tumors undergoing esophagectomy with cervical anastomosis where radiation was delivered to the future neoesophagus, 80% (n = 35/44) developed anastomotic complications. In this high‐risk subgroup, radiation was not associated with anastomotic complications (p > 0.05). Conclusions Our analysis did not demonstrate an association between radiation dose to gastric substructures and anastomotic complications. However, it showed an association between esophagectomy with cervical anastomosis and anastomotic complications. Patients with distal/gastroesophageal junction tumors who undergo esophagectomy with cervical anastomosis have higher rates of anastomotic complications unrelated to radiation to gastric substructures.

Abstract Gene mutation is responsible for the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection; however, the characteristics and associated biological functions of highly mutated genes, in which the mutation frequencies are at least 5% in HCC patients with HBV infection, are not clearly evaluated. In the study, we analyzed the information regarding somatic mutation obtained by whole‐exome sequencing in 280 HBV‐related HCC tissues from public databases and published studies. Via integrative analysis, 78 genes, including TP53, TTN, MUC16, CTNNB1, and PCLO were summarized as highly mutated genes, and some of these mutated genes were further identified as cancer driver genes. Besides, we discovered that the highly mutated genes were enriched with various biological functions and pathways. The expression of many of highly mutated genes was found to be significantly altered in HBV‐related HCC, and several highly mutated genes were related to a variety of clinical factors and associated with the poor survival of the disease. Taken together, these results could enrich our understanding of highly mutated genes and their relationships with HBV‐related HCC. Some of the identified highly mutated genes might be used as novel biomarkers of disease prognosis, or as molecular targets for the treatment of HCC with HBV infection.

Abstract The development of orange‐red/red thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials with both high emission efficiencies and short lifetimes is highly desirable for electroluminescence (EL) applications, but remains a formidable challenge owing to the strict molecular design principles. Herein, two new orange‐red/red TADF emitters, namely AC‐PCNCF3 and TAC‐PCNCF3, composed of pyridine‐3,5‐dicarbonitrile‐derived electron‐acceptor (PCNCF3) and acridine electron‐donors (AC/TAC) are developed. These emitters in doped films exhibit excellent photophysical properties, including high photoluminescence quantum yields of up to 0.91, tiny singlet‐triplet energy gaps of 0.01 eV, and ultrashort TADF lifetimes of less than 1 µs. The TADF‐organic light‐emitting diodes employing the AC‐PCNCF3 as emitter achieve orange‐red and red EL with high external quantum efficiencies of up to 25.0% and nearly 20% at doping concentrations of 5 and 40 wt%, respectively, both accompanied by well‐suppressed efficiency roll‐offs. This work provides an efficient molecular design strategy for developing high‐performance red TADF materials.
