BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) with peritoneal dissemination have a dismal prognosis because discontinuation of systemic chemotherapy is required for massive ascites or poor performance status. The natural history, diagnosis and treatment of PDAC with peritoneal dissemination have not been fully investigated. METHODS We systematically reviewed published information on the clinical diagnosis and treatment of PDAC with peritoneal dissemination using the PubMed database (2000-2020) and provided recommendations in response to clinical questions. This guideline was created according to the "Minds Clinical Practice Guideline Development Guide 2017". The literature quality and body of evidence were evaluated with the GRADE System and classified into four levels ("strong", "medium", "weak", "very weak"). The strength of each final recommendation was decided by a vote of committee members based on the GRADE Grid method. RESULTS These guidelines address 3 subjects: diagnostic, chemotherapeutic, and surgical approaches. They include 9 clinical questions and statements with recommendation strengths, evidence levels, and agreement rates, in addition to one "column". CONCLUSIONS This is the English synopsis of the 2021 Japanese clinical practice guideline for PDAC with peritoneal dissemination. It summarizes the clinical evidence for the diagnosis and treatment of PDAC with peritoneal dissemination and provides future perspectives.

A series of pyridine ligands bearing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) chains at the para position was synthesized and characterized by NMR and ESI‐HRMS analysis. 1H NMR analysis showed that pyridines coordinate to Pd(OAc)2 even when a long PEG chain is attached to the pyridine ring. In the Pd‐catalyzed oxidation of alcohols, the pyridines bearing longer PEG chains were found to be efficient ligands.

A bulky carboxylic acid bearing three cyclohexylmethyl substituents at the α-position, namely, tri(cyclohexylmethyl)acetic acid, is demonstrated to act as an efficient ligand source in Pd-catalyzed intramolecular C(sp2 )-H and C(sp3 )-H arylation reactions. The reactions proceed smoothly under mild reaction conditions, even at room temperature due to the steric bulk of the carboxylate ligands, which accelerates the rate-determining C-H bond activation step in the catalytic cycle.

The boraformylation of allenes with B2 (pin)2 and a formate ester as boron and formyl source, respectively, proceeds in the presence of a copper catalyst. The reaction selectively affords the corresponding β-boryl β,γ-unsaturated aldehydes in good to high yields. Furthermore, the silaformylation of allenes was achieved with a formate ester and PhMe2 Si-B(pin) as the silicon source.

We report the synthesis of an insulated π-conjugated polymer containing 2,2'-bipyridine moieties as metal coordination sites. Metal coordination to the polymer enabled easy and reversible tuning of the luminescent color without changes to the main chain skeleton. The permethylated α-cyclodextrin (PM α-CD)-based insulation structure allowed the metalated polymers to demonstrate efficient emission even in the solid state, with identical spectral shapes to the dilute solutions. In addition, the coordination ability of the metal-free polymer was maintained in the solid state, resulting in reversible changes in the luminescent color in response to the metal ions. The synthesized polymer is expected to be suitable for application in recyclable luminescent sensors to distinguish different metal ions.

Semihydrogenation, hydroboration, and hydrocarboxylation have been developed using Cu-H as active catalyst species. Preferential reduction of sterically hindered ketones is accompanied by Cu-H species bearing a bowl-shaped phosphine as a crucial ligand. Employing Cu-B species, hydroboration of alkynes and allenes, synthesis of 2-boryl-1,3-butadiene, and borylative allyl-allyl coupling are established. Silacarboxylation of alkynes, regiodivergent silacarboxylation of allenes, and silylative allylation of ketones involve Cu-Si species. The key to these selective transformations is regioselective addition of Cu-H, Cu-B, or Cu-Si species to carbon-carbon multiple bonds of alkynes and allenes to afford the corresponding alkenylcopper or allylcopper intermediates.

We describe a new concept for rotaxane synthesis through intramolecular slippage using π-conjugated molecules as rigid axles linked with organic soluble and flexible permethylated α-cyclodextrins (PM α-CDs) as macrocycles. Through hydrophilic-hydrophobic interactions and flipping of PM α-CDs, successful quantitative conversion into rotaxanes was achieved without covalent bond formation. The rotaxanes had high activation barrier for their de-threading, so that they were kinetically isolated and derivatized even under conditions unfavorable for maintaining the rotaxane structures. (1) H NMR spectroscopy experiments clearly revealed that the restricted motion of the linked macrocycle with the rigid axle made it possible to control the kinetic stability by adjusting the length of the rigid axle in the precursor structure rather than the steric bulkiness of the stopper unit.

Borylative allyl-allyl coupling using allenes, bis(pinacolato)diboron, and allyl phosphates has been developed in the presence of a copper catalyst bearing an N-heterocyclic carbene ligand. The reaction affords boryl-substituted 1, 5-diene derivatives in good to high yields with high regioselectivity and Z selectivity.

Something solid to build on: 2-Boryl 1,3-butadienes with various substitution patterns were formed in good to high yields in a copper-catalyzed borylation of α-alkoxy allenes with bis(pinacolato)diboron (see scheme; Bn=benzyl, pin=pinacolate, L is an N-heterocyclic carbene ligand). The products were found to be useful intermediates for the synthesis of cyclic vinyl boranes, α,β-unsaturated ketones, and functionalized multisubstituted dienes.

Cobalt-catalyzed carboxyzincation reactions employing carbon dioxide and zinc metal powder are developed. By using alkynes as substrates, regio- and stereodefined (Z)-β-zincated acrylates are provided. The corresponding alkenylzinc moiety can be converted to various substituents, affording multisubstituted acrylic acids. Furthermore, by adding electron-deficient alkene to the reaction system, the four-component coupling reactions of alkyne, alkene, CO2, and the Zn atom proceed via carboxyzincation.

N-Heterocyclic carbenes bearing poly(ethylene glycol) chains of different lengths have been designed and employed as ligands in palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions. The catalyst system having longer chains was found to be highly efficient for Suzuki–Miyaura coupling and borylation reactions employing aryl chlorides under mild reaction conditions.

A highly efficient cobalt-catalyzed reductive carboxylation reaction of alkenyl trifluoromethanesulfonates (triflates) has been developed. By employing Mn powder as a reducing reagent under 1 atm pressure of CO2 at room temperature, diverse alkenyl triflates can be converted to the corresponding α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acids. Moreover, the carboxylation of sterically hindered aryl triflates proceeds smoothly in the presence of a nickel or cobalt catalyst.

When two benzene rings are fused to a tetraaryl-o-quinodimethane skeleton, sterically hindered helical molecules 1 acquire a high thermodynamic stability. Because the tetraarylbutadiene subunit contains electron-donating alkoxy groups, 1 undergo reversible two-electron oxidation to 2(2+), which can be isolated as deeply colored stable salts. Intramolecular transfer of the point chirality (e.g., sec-butyl) on the aryl groups to helicity induces a diastereomeric preference in dications 2 b(2+) and 2 c(2+), which represents an efficient method for enhancing circular-dichroism signals. Thus, those redox pairs can serve as new electrochiroptical response systems. X-ray analysis of dication 2(2+) revealed π-π stacking interaction of the diarylmethylium moieties, which is also present in solution. The stacking geometry is the key contributor to the chirosolvatochromic response.

A copper catalyst bearing a suitable Xantphos derivative or NHC ligand was found to be highly efficient for the selective semihydrogenation of non-polar unsaturated compounds using a mixture of a silane and an alcohol as reducing agent. The catalytic system was useful for the selective semihydrogenation of internal alkynes to (Z)-alkenes with suppression of overreduction to the corresponding alkanes. Furthermore, semihydrogenations of terminal alkyne, 1,2-diene, 1,3-diene, 1,3-enyne and 1,3-diyne systems were also achieved selectively.

A highly efficient hydroesterification of alkynes employing aryl formates has been developed without the use of external carbon monoxide and at ambient pressure. The reaction in the presence of a palladium-xantphos catalyst system selectively affords α,β-unsaturated esters in good to high yields. Use of an aryl formate is crucial and alkyl formates did not react at all. The hydroesterification of norbornene and terminal alkenes also readily proceeded under similar reaction conditions. A mechanistic study showed that conversion of aryl formates to carbon monoxide and phenol derivatives occurred in the hydroesterification. Xantphos is highly effective as a ligand both in the conversion of aryl formates and the hydroesterification reactions.

Reaction and work-up conditions for the regioselective transformation of various 1-substituted, 1,1- and 1,3-disubstituted allenes with carbon dioxide to homoallyl alcohol derivatives are developed which tolerate numerous functional groups.

The formal hydroacylation reaction of allenes has been developed employing carboxylic anhydrides as acyl sources and hydrosilanes as reducing reagents in the presence of a commercially available palladium complex as a catalyst. The reaction affords α,β-unsaturated ketones regio- and stereoselectively. The similar catalyst system is also effective for the reduction of carboxylic anhydrides to the corresponding aldehydes employing hydrosilanes.

The copper-catalyzed silylative allylation of ketones with allenes and silylboranes via an in situ generated β-silylallylcopper intermediate is presented.

A regiodivergent silacarboxylation of allenes under a CO2 atmosphere with PhMe2Si–B(pin) as a silicon source in the presence of a copper catalyst at 70 °C has been developed. The regioselectivity of the reaction is successfully reversed by the proper choice of ligand; carboxylated vinylsilanes are obtained with rac-Me-DuPhos as the ligand, whereas the use of PCy3 affords carboxylated allylsilanes. Thus, two different carboxylated silanes can be selectively and regiodivergently synthesized from a single allene substrate.

The Ni-catalyzed double carboxylation of internal alkynes with CO2, affording highly versatile maleic anhydrides as products is reported.

Alkynyl group-containing α-monosubstituted and α,α-disubstituted carboxylic acids are obtained with moderate to good yields.

Novel phosphanylcalix[6]arenes having mono-O-diphenylphosphanylmethyl (3) and mono-O-(4-diphenylphosphanylphenyl)methyl substituents (5) have been synthesized. The structures of these monophosphanylcalix[6]arenes were determined by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and X-ray crystal structure analysis. The X-ray structure reveals that 3 adopts a flattened 1,2,3-alternate conformation in the crystalline state, while the NMR spectra show that 3 and 5 have a cone conformation in solution. Structure optimization and energy calculations for 3 and 5 at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ-CONFLEX5/MMFF94s level of theory show that the cone conformation is slightly more stable than the 1,2,3-alternate conformation by 0.36 kcal mol–1 for 3 and 0.96 kcal mol–1 for 5. Complexation of 3 with [PtCl2(COD)] and [Rh(COD)2]BF4 gives cis-coordinated [PtCl2(3)2] and [Rh(COD)(3)2]BF4, respectively. The X-ray analysis of [PtCl2(3)2] shows that 3 adopts a cone conformation upon complexation. Combination of 3 and 5 with [Rh(COD)2]BF4 provides an active catalyst for the hydroformylation of a variety of terminal alkenes.(© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2006)

Recently, there has been a progressive development of insulated π-conjugated metallopolymers with accumulated features of π-conjugated bridging units, transition metal complexes, and encapsulating moieties, as higher-order functionalized materials. A number of insulated conjugated metallopolymers have been successfully synthesized and their fascinating properties have been reported. In addition to the conventional features derived from π-conjugation and transition metals, their insulated structures can compensate for solubility, a disadvantage in conventional metallopolymers, and enhance their functionalities, such as sensing, luminescence, and conduction. In this review, we summarize the synthetic methodologies, structural characteristics, and functionalities of one-dimensional insulated π-conjugated metallopolymers, while focusing on the effect of transition metals and insulation on their properties.

The hydroboration, diboration, carboboration and boracarboxylation of alkynes involve the Cu–B species. These transformations afforded multi-substituted alkenes that are potentially good intermediates in organic synthesis. The key to the regioselective transformation is the addition of the Cu–H or Cu–B species to an alkyne, to afford the corresponding alkenylcopper intermediate regioselectively.

Aryl formates are efficient carbon monoxide sources in palladium-catalyzed esterification of aryl halides. The carbonylation readily proceeds at ambient pressure without the use of external carbon monoxide to afford the corresponding esters in high yields.
