Abstract Background and Objective To explore the association between protein quantitative trait loci (pQTL‐SNPs) and the risk of LUAD. Methods “Blood +” high depth blood proteomics analysis was performed on plasma from female LUAD patients and female healthy controls, and combined with proteomics data from tumors and adjacent non‐tumor tissues of female LUAD patients to screen proteins uniformly expressed in plasma and tissues. pQTL‐SNPs were then screened through multiple databases and subjected to multilevel screening. The associations between selected pQTL‐SNPs and LUAD risk were evaluated by Female Lung Cancer Consortium in Asia GWAS (FLCCA GWAS). Abstract Batteries dissolving active materials in liquids possess safety and size advantages compared to solid‐based batteries, yet the intrinsic liquid properties lead to material cross‐over induced self‐discharge both during cycling and idle when the electrolytes are in contact, thus highly efficient and cost‐effective solutions to minimize cross‐over are in high demand. An ultra‐low self‐discharge aqueous|organic membraneless battery using dichloromethane (CH2Cl2) and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBABr) added to a zinc bromide (ZnBr2) solution as the electrolyte is demonstrated. The polybromide is confined in the organic phase, and bromine (Br2) diffusion‐induced self‐discharge is minimized. At 90% state of charge (SOC), the membraneless ZnBr2|TBABr (Z|T) battery shows an open circuit voltage (OCV) drop of only 42 mV after 120 days, 152 times longer than the ZnBr2 battery, and superior to 102 previous reports from all types of liquid active material batteries. The 120‐day capacity retention of 95.5% is higher than commercial zinc‐nickel (Zn–Ni) batteries and vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB, electrolytes stored separately) and close to lithium‐ion (Li‐ion) batteries. Z|T achieves >500 cycles (2670 h, 0.5 m electrolyte, 250 folds of membraneless ZnBr2 battery) with ≈100% Coulombic efficiency (CE). The simple and cost‐effective design of Z|T provides a conceptual inspiration to regulate material cross‐over in liquid‐based batteries to realize extended operation.

Abstract As one of the most studied ribonucleic acid (RNA) modifications in eukaryotes, N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) has been shown to play a predominant role in controlling gene expression and influence physiological and pathological processes such as oncogenesis and tumor progression. Writer and eraser proteins, acting opposite to deposit and remove m6A epigenetic marks, respectively, shape the cellular m6A landscape, while reader proteins preferentially recognize m6A modifications and mediate fate decision of the methylated RNAs, including RNA synthesis, splicing, exportation, translation, and stability. Therefore, RNA metabolism in cells is greatly influenced by these three classes of m6A regulators. Aberrant expression of m6A regulators has been widely reported in various types of cancer, leading to cancer initiation, progression, and drug resistance. The close links between m6A and cancer shed light on the potential use of m6A methylation and its regulators as prognostic biomarkers and drug targets for cancer therapy. Given the notable effects of m6A in reversing chemoresistance and enhancing immune therapy, it is a promising target for combined therapy. Herein, we summarize the recent discoveries on m6A and its regulators, emphasizing their influences on RNA metabolism, their dysregulation and impacts in diverse malignancies, and discuss the clinical implications of m6A modification in cancer.

Abstract Developing an economical, durable, and efficient electrode that performs well at high current densities and is capable of satisfying large‐scale electrochemical hydrogen production is highly demanded. A self‐supported electrocatalytic “Pt‐like” WC porous electrode with open finger‐like holes is produced through industrial processes, and a tightly bonded nitrogen‐doped WC/W (WC‐N/W) heterostructure is formed in situ on the WC grains. The obtained WC‐N/W electrode manifests excellent durability and stability under multi‐step current density in the range of 30–1000 mA cm−2 for more than 220 h in both acidic and alkaline media. Although WC is three orders of magnitude cheaper than Pt, the produced electrode demonstrates comparable hydrogen evolution reaction performance to the Pt electrode at high current density. Density functional theory calculations attribute its superior performance to the electrode structure and the modulated electronic structure at the WC‐N/W interface.

Abstract Introduction Degeneration changes of the basal forebrain (BF) are suggested to play an important role in cognitive impairment and memory loss in patients with Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. However, little is known about if and how the structure and function of BF are abnormal in Wilson's disease (WD). Methods Here, we employed the structural and resting‐state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data from 19 WD individuals and 24 healthy controls (HC). Voxel‐based morphometry (VBM) and functional connectivity analysis were applied to investigate the structural and functional degeneration changes of BF in WD. Moreover, the linear regression analyses were performed in the patient group to depict the correlations between the aberrant gray volume and functional connectivity of the BF and clinical performances, such as the prospective memory (PM) and mini‐mental state examination (MMSE). Results VBM analysis showed that compared with HC, the volume of overlapping cell groups of BF termed CH1–3 and CH4 was significantly reduced in WD. Additionally, the decreased functional connectivity of the CH4 was distributed in the bilateral temporal‐parietal junction (TPJ), right thalamus, orbitofrontal gyrus (ORB), and left middle cingulate cortex (MCC). The performances of the time‐based prospective memory (TBPM) and event‐based prospective memory (EBPM) were related to reduced functional connectivity between CH4 and right ORB. Besides, the functional connectivity of left TPJ was also significantly correlated with EBPM in WD. Conclusion These findings indicated that the degenerative changes of BF may affect PM through the innervation brain function and may help to understand the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive impairment in WD.

Abstract Extracellular vesicles (EVs) play critical roles in regulating bone metastatic microenvironment through mediating intercellular crosstalks. However, little is known about the contribution of EVs derived from cancer cells to the vicious cycle of bone metastasis. Here, we report a direct regulatory mode between tumour cells and osteoclasts in metastatic niche of prostate cancer via vesicular miRNAs transfer. Combined analysis of miRNAs profiles both in tumour‐derived small EVs (sEVs) and osteoclasts identified miR‐152‐3p as a potential osteolytic molecule. sEVs were enriched in miR‐152‐3p, which targets osteoclastogenic regulator MAFB. Blocking miR‐152‐3p in sEVs upregulated the expression of MAFB and impaired osteoclastogenesis in vitro. In vivo experiments of xenograft mouse model found that blocking of miR‐152‐3p in sEVs significantly slowed down the loss of trabecular architecture, while systemic inhibition of miR‐152‐3p using antagomir‐152‐3p reduced the osteolytic lesions of cortical bone while preserving basic trabecular architecture. Our findings suggest that miR‐152‐3p carried by prostate cancer‐derived sEVs deliver osteolytic signals from tumour cells to osteoclasts, facilitating osteolytic progression in bone metastasis.
