Hydrazine‐oxidation‐assisted self‐powered H2 generation system greatly expands the applicability of hydrogen production technology. However, the high cost of hydrazine greatly impedes the widespread adoption of hydrazine‐contained energy systems for large‐scale H2 production. Besides, the gaseous products of hydrazine splitting, comprising a mixture of H2 and N2, necessitate energy‐intensive downstream separation. Here, taking advantage of a low‐potential furfural oxidation reaction (FOR) on the Cu electrode, a self‐powered H2 production system by integrating a direct furfural fuel cell (DFFC) and a bipolar H2 production electrolyser is reported. Ru‐dispersed Cu nanowire with remarkable catalytic activity is developed as a hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) catalyst to couple with the FOR. The HER‐FOR electrolyzer achieves bipolar H2 production with an apparent 200% Faradaic efficiency, attaining a current density of 100 mA cm−2 with a low cell voltage of 0.43 V. The DFFC displays an open circuit potential of 0.969 V and a peak power density up to 193 mW cm−2. Inspired by the bipolar H2 production that eliminates the gas separation, a self‐powered system utilizing furfural as the sole consumable, which yields a pure H2 production rate of 6 mmol h−1 m−2 is demonstrated. Objective: Periodontitis is a chronic inflammation of periodontal tissues. This study is expected to assess the effect of LSD1 on the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs in periodontitis. Methods: hPDLSCs were separated, cultivated, and identified, and then treated by LPS to induce inflammatory microenvironment and subjected to osteogenic differentiation. Subsequently, LSD1 expression was determined, and then silenced to assess its effect on hPDLSCs. Next, the binding relation between LSD1 and miR‐590‐3p was analyzed. miR‐590‐3p expression was detected and then overexpressed to evaluate its role in hPDLSCs in periodontitis. Afterward, the relation between LSD1 and OSX was analyzed. H3K4me2 level and OSX transcription were measured, and the role of H3K4me2 was determined. Additionally, the role of OSX in hPDLSCs was verified. Results: LSD1 was poorly expressed after osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs while it was rescued upon LPS induction. The osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSC in periodontitis was strengthened upon LSD1 downregulation. Besides, miR‐590‐3p targeted LSD1 transcription, and LSD1 inhibited OSX transcription via H3K4me2 demethylation. miR‐590‐3p overexpression improved osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs in periodontitis. But this improvement was annulled by OSX inhibition. Conclusion: miR‐590‐3p targeted LSD1 transcription and upregulated H3K4me2 methylation to promote OSX transcription, thereby encouraging osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs in periodontitis. Background: The optimal treatment for the rare subtype of non‐Hodgkin lymphoma, extranodal natural killer/T‐cell lymphoma (ENKTL), nasal‐type, has not been clearly defined. The purpose of the study was to investigate the efficacy of sequential and "Sandwich" chemotherapy and extended involved‐field intensity‐modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in patients with stage IE/IIE extranodal ENKTL, nasal‐type. Methods: One hundred and fifty‐five patients with stage IE/IIE nasal‐type ENKTL were enrolled in the study, including 99 patients treated with sequential chemotherapy and extended involved‐field IMRT (SCRT) and 56 patients with "Sandwich" chemotherapy and extended involved‐field IMRT and chemotherapy (SCRCT). All patients were treated with extended involved‐field IMRT with median dose of 54.6 Gy to the primary tumor and positive lymph nodes. Ninety‐four patients had Ann Arbor stage IE disease, and 61 patients had stage IIE disease. Results: The 5‐year rates of loco‐regional recurrence (LRR), progression‐free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) were 17.0%, 78.5%, and 84.7%, respectively. Univariate analysis revealed that EBV DNA copy after treatment (normal vs elevated level) was significant prognostic factor for LRR, PFS, and OS (P < 0.001); therapeutic method (SCRT vs SCRCT) was significant prognostic factor for PFS (71.0% vs 91.8%, P = 0.011), but there was no significant effect on 5‐year LRR and OS (22.2% vs 8.2%, P = 0.051 for LRR; 80.9% vs 91.8%, P = 0.199 for OS). Conclusions: Compared with SCRT, SCRCT was significantly associated with higher PFS rates and showed a trend toward improved loco‐regional control. EBV DNA copy after treatment is a good index for recurrence and prognosis for stage IE/IIE ENKTL patients. In this study, a novel electrically steerable planar array antenna based on liquid crystal (LC) is elaborately designed, fabricated and measured. The occupied area and undesired coupling of the meander line phase shifter are reduced by chamfering appropriately. Combined with the electrically tunable LC material, the miniaturised phase shifter achieves 146° phase shift and 122.7°/dB frequency-dependent figure-of-merit. Utilising in series phase shifters, power dividers and in parallel patches, the proposed antenna features compact configuration 41° continuous wide beam scanning range from forward to backward at the satellite communication band 12.5 GHz. At the same time, it maintains satisfactory reflection coefficient and impedance bandwidth at each angle. Background Hemipelvectomy is a major operation with significant risks including infection, prosthesis failure and fracture. This systematic review was designed to review the functional outcomes, oncologic outcomes and complications in patients who received internal hemipelvectomy and pelvic reconstruction for primary pelvic tumour. Methods Searches on MEDLINE, the Cochrane Library, Embase and Google Scholar were performed to locate studies involving patients receiving internal hemipelvectomy and pelvic reconstruction using a prosthesis, implant or bone graft. All studies were either prospective or retrospective observational studies published in English. Results This systematic review included 12 studies from 1990 to 2011 involving 217 patients from 5 to 77 years of age who had received follow-up for a period from 3 weeks to 15 years. Among the 12 studies, the mortality rate, disease-free rate and incidence of local recurrence were 10-69.2, 23.1-90.0 and 9.1-41.7%, respectively. The post-operative Musculoskeletal Tumor Society ( MSTS) functional score ranged from 50 to 70 in the more recent studies. Compared with prostheses and other implants, patients who received allografts had the highest post-operative function, as shown by their MSTS scores, but also had a greater incidence of post-operative infection. On the other hand, the prosthesis group was associated with the highest percentage of fracture and dislocations, as well as other significant complications. Conclusion This comprehensive review provided informative details regarding the goals, outcomes and complications associated with this procedure and underscored the need for further investigation into the various surgical approaches currently available. Bacterial resistance to antibiotics poses a great clinical challenge in fighting serious infectious diseases due to complicated resistant mechanisms and time-consuming testing methods. Chemical reaction-directed covalent labeling of resistance-associated bacterial proteins in the context of a complicated environment offers great opportunity for the in-depth understanding of the biological basis conferring drug resistance, and for the development of effective diagnostic approaches. In the present study, three fluorogenic reagents LRBL1-3 for resistant bacteria labeling have been designed and prepared on the basis of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). The hydrolyzed probes could act as reactive electrophiles to attach the enzyme, β-lactamase, and thus facilitated the covalent labeling of drug resistant bacterial strains. SDS electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry characterization confirmed that these probes were sensitive and specific to β-lactamase and could therefore serve for covalent and localized fluorescence labeling of the enzyme structure. Moreover, this β-lactamase-induced covalent labeling provides quantitative analysis of the resistant bacterial population (down to 5 %) by high resolution flow cytometry, and allows single-cell detection and direct observation of bacterial enzyme activity in resistant pathogenic species. To review perioperative airway management and ventilation strategy during the surgical removal of papilloma under suspension laryngoscopy in pediatric patients with severe airway obstruction. Seventy pediatric patients with degree III and IV laryngeal obstruction who underwent suspension laryngoscopy to remove laryngeal papillomatosis, between July 2005 and March 2009, were included in the study. All patients were intubated initially to secure the airway. Controlled ventilation through an endotracheal (ET) tube was used during the papilloma debulking near the glottis vera. Spontaneous ventilation or apneic technique was adopted based on the stage of the surgical procedure and the location of the remaining tumor. Hemodynamic parameters, pulse oxygen saturation (SpO), and CO were closely monitored, and adverse events were recorded. The duration of the surgical operation and the duration of the extubation period were 5-35 min and 5-20 min, respectively. Thirty cases with degree III and twenty cases with degree IV laryngeal obstruction received inhalation induction. Sixteen cases with degree III laryngeal obstruction were given an intravenous induction. Four patients admitted with a comatose status were emergently intubated without any anesthetics. The ET tube size was determined by assessing the opening through the tumor mass or glottic aperture under direct laryngoscopy. SpO was maintained above 97% after the airway was secured and sufficient ventilation established. Controlled ventilation was used in all children during the bulk removal of tumor. Spontaneous respiration and apneic technique were adopted for the removal of the remaining tumor in the hypolarynx or trachea in 16 and 28 cases, respectively. Three patients had to be re-intubated postoperatively because of persistent desaturation or laryngospasm. Key points of perioperative airway management in pediatric patients with papillomatosis-induced severe laryngeal obstruction include careful preoperative airway evaluation; the proper choice of induction methods, and ET tube size; maintenance of an adequate depth of anesthesia; and flexible ventilation strategy, continuous and close monitoring during the extubation and postextubation period; and prompt management of adverse events. Objectives: The recommended treatment for limited‐stage small‐cell lung cancer (LS‐SCLC) is a combination of thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) and etoposide plus cisplatin (EP) chemotherapy, typically administered over 4–6 cycles. Nonetheless, the optimal duration of chemotherapy is still not determined. This study aimed to compare the outcomes of patients with LS‐SCLC who received either 6 cycles or 4–5 cycles of EP chemotherapy combined with TRT. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective analysis, we utilized data from our prior prospective trial to analyze the outcomes of 265 LS‐SCLC patients who received 4–6 courses of EP combined with concurrent accelerated hyperfractionated TRT between 2002 and 2017. Patients were categorized into two groups depending on their number of chemotherapy cycles: 6 or 4–5 cycles. To assess overall survival (OS) and progression‐free survival (PFS), we employed the Kaplan–Meier method after conducting propensity score matching (PSM). Results: Among the 265 LS‐SCLC patients, 60 (22.6%) received 6 cycles of EP chemotherapy, while 205 (77.4%) underwent 4–5 cycles. Following PSM (53 patients for each group), the patients in the 6 cycles group exhibited a significant improvement in OS and PFS in comparison to those in the 4–5 cycles group [median OS: 29.8 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 23.6–53.1 months) vs. 22.7 months (95% CI, 20.8–29.1 months), respectively, p = 0.019; median PFS: 17.9 months (95% CI, 13.7–30.5 months) vs. 12.0 months (95% CI, 9.8–14.2 months), respectively, p = 0.006]. The two‐year and five‐year OS rates were 60.38% and 29.87% in the 6 cycles group, whereas 47.17% and 15.72% in the 4–5 cycles group, respectively. Conclusion: Patients diagnosed with LS‐SCLC who were treated with EP regimen chemotherapy combined with TRT exhibited notably enhanced survival when administered 6 cycles of chemotherapy, as compared to those who underwent only 4–5 cycles. Surgical adhesives are crucial for achieving rapid hemostasis and immediate wound management during clinical interventions. However, developing a tissue adhesive that combines instant adhesive strength with biodegradability in dynamic, wet, or hemorrhagic biological environments remains a persistent challenge. Here, a biodegradable supramolecular tissue adhesive with robust instant adhesion to wet tissue surfaces within 5 s is presented. The distinctive synergy of surface‐rich adhesive groups and the hydrophobic main chain enables the adhesive to surmount the hydration layer on the tissue surface, ensuring rapid adhesion. Importantly, the internal structure of this supramolecular adhesive significantly contributes to its exceptional holding adhesion strength. Additionally, in vivo experiments using a rat liver incision model and a skin injury model are conducted. These experiments demonstrate its effectiveness in emergency hemostasis and wound management. Consequently, this supramolecular tissue adhesive exhibits significant potential in surgical applications, addressing critical needs in urgent clinical scenarios and potentially making valuable contributions to the medical field. This paper is aimed at extracting the intrinsic and extrinsic model parameter values of a small signal model based only on S‐parameter measurements. An analytically derived method to extract parasitic resistances and then obtain the all intrinsic parameters according to the previous method are proposed. Experiment results show the extracted model parameters can fit the test data well for our device, which illustrate the validity and accuracy of the extraction method. In addition, the authors analyze the huge differences of small‐signal parameters between graphene‐based field‐effect transistors (FETs) and traditional MOSFETs in saturation, and then point out the specific direction of improving the radio frequency performance of graphene‐based field‐effect transistors. High‐performance graphene field‐effect transistors (GFETs) for radio frequency applications have attracted much attention. Consequently, it is required for a device model to be implemented in circuit simulator. Similar models have been adopted in recent years, but no detail parameters extraction process is given. Chinese Tajiks are an Indo‐Iranian‐speaking population in Xinjiang, northwest China. Although the complex demographic history has been characterized, the ancestral sources and genetic admixture of Indo‐Iranian‐speaking groups in this region remain poorly understood. We here provide the genome‐wide genotyping data for over 700 000 single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and mtDNA multiplex sequencing data in 64 Chinese male Tajik individuals from two dialect groups, Wakhi and Selekur. We applied principal component analysis (PCA), ADMIXTURE, f‐statistics, treemix, qpWave/qpAdm, Admixture‐induced Linkage Disequilibrium for Evolutionary Relationships (ALDER), and Fst analyses to infer a fine‐scale population genetic structure and admixture history. Our results reveal that Chinese Tajiks showed the closest affinity and similar genetic admixture pattern with ancient Xinjiang populations, especially Xinjiang samples in the historical era. Chinese Tajiks also have gene flow from European and Neolithic Iran farmers‐related populations. We observed a genetic substructure in the two Tajik dialect groups. The Selekur‐speaking group who lived in the county had more gene flow from East Asians than Wakhi‐speaking people who inhabited the village. This article presents the results of a genetic analysis of the Ashina, a nomadic Turkic-speaking group from ancient Eurasia. The study used data from ancient DNA samples to investigate the genetic ancestry of the Ashina and their relationships with other Eurasian populations. The results showed that the Ashina had a mixed genetic heritage, with influences from both West Eurasian and East Eurasian populations. The study also found genetic differences between the Ashina and other Turkic-speaking populations, suggesting genetic heterogeneity within the Turkic Khaganate. Additionally, the analysis revealed genetic relationships between the Ashina and other ancient Eurasian populations, such as the Xiongnu and Tianshan nomadic groups. All yellow Camellia plants in China are threatened, but their classification is contentious. Here, we performed a phylogenetic reconstruction based on nuclear double‐digest restriction site‐associated DNA sequencing (ddRAD), transcriptomes, nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (nrITS), and the small single‐copy region of the chloroplast genome, in combination with morphological evidence to help resolve taxonomic ambiguity of those rare and threatened species. Conflicting relationships were derived from nuclear and chloroplast sequences. The strong hybridization/introgression signal detected suggests reticulate evolution mainly caused this discordance pattern. The nuclear‐ddRAD and RNA‐seq phylogenies fit better to the yellow camellias' morphology, providing a clear resolution for inferring their relationships in China. Based on present phylogenetic analyses and morphological characters, we propose these taxonomic suggestions: (i) Camellia petelotii and Camellia nitidissima are distinct species; (ii) Camellia ptilosperma, Camellia longruiensis, Camellia longgangensis, and C. longgangensis var. grandis are conspecific with Camellia flavida; (iii) Camellia multipetala and C. longgangensis var. patens are synonyms of Camellia quinqueloculosa, and C. quinqueloculosa should be recognized as an independent species; (iv) Camellia wumingensis should be formally recognized as an independent species; (v) Camellia longzhouensis is a synonym of Camellia chrysanthoides; (vi) Camellia xiashiensis and Camellia parvipetala should be treated as synonyms of Camellia micrantha; (vii) Camellia achrysantha is a good species; (viii) Camellia tunghinensis is an independent species; (ix) species status of Camellia huana is well‐supported; and (x) Camellia pingguoensis var. terminals should be correctly identified to species level as Camellia terminalis. A rapid and sensitive ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry method was established and employed to determine 21 nucleosides, nucleobases, and amino acids in 60 samples from different parts of Angelicae Sinensis Radix. The established methods were validated by good linearity (r2 > 0.9937), limits of detection (0.12–77.75 ng/mL), limits of quantitation (0.31–272.13 ng/mL), intra‐ and interday precisions (RSD ≤ 4.84%, RSD ≤ 6.26%), stability (RSD ≤ 5.92%), repeatability (RSD ≤ 7.14%), recovery (91.4–103.4%), and matrix effects (0.92–1.03). Chemical comparative analysis revealed that the content of total analytes in four parts of Angelicae Sinensis Radix were different, and exhibited the order: Head (14.89 mg/g) > Body (10.15 mg/g) > All (8.22 mg/g) > Tail (6.23 mg/g). Principal component analysis showed that the samples could be classified into four groups in accord with four different parts of Angelicae Sinensis Radix. The results could provide a scientific basis and reference for the quality control of Angelicae Sinensis Radix, and may be conducive to further research on the pharmacological activities of Angelicae Sinensis Radix. Recent researches have reported the extensive pharmacological activities of Ginsenoside Rg1 including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties. Furthermore Rg1 was also shown to protect various kinds of cells from self-digestion by its anti-autophagy activity. In previous studies, angiotensin II (Ang II), a key mediator of renin-angiotensin system, has been demonstrated to contribute to the progression of renal injury including abnormal autophagy. However, whether Rg1 can relieve Ang II-induced autophagy in podocyte as well as the underlying molecular mechanism remains to be elucidated. Here, we employed Ang II-treated podocyte as a model to investigate the effect of Rg1 on autophagy and the involved signal pathways. In the present study, we found that Ang II strongly promoted autophagy in immortalized mouse podocyte cells by observing the formation of autophagosomes and detecting the expression of autophagic marker, for example, LC3-II. Notably, compared to the Ang II-treated cells, treatment with Rg1 significantly inhibited the formation of autophagosomes and expression of autophagy-related proteins in Ang II pre-treated podocyte. Meanwhile, Rg1 downregulated the activity of AMPK and GSK-3β and upregulated the activity of P70S6K in Ang II-treated podocyte. In conclusion, these findings demonstrate that Ang II promotes autophagy in podocyte, and Rg1 effectively attenuates this process through AMPK/mTOR/PI3K pathway, suggesting that Rg1 may be beneficial to alleviate podocyte injury. Maternally inherited diabetes and deafness is a rare genetic disease mainly caused by a point mutation in mitochondrial deoxyribonucleic acid. Lipoprotein lipase gene mutations are associated with familial dyslipidemias, which are difficult to manage. We reported for the first time a case that had both maternally inherited diabetes and severe hyperlipidemia caused by lipoprotein lipase gene mutation (C.347(exon3)G>C) that was resistant to fenofibrate and atorvastatin. We were able to manage the patient's hyperlipidemia with bezafibrate, and her diabetes was well controlled with insulin. In conclusion, genetic testing is helpful in identifying rare and interesting cases when clinicians suspect inheritable diseases. Plant seeds, which are unique reproductive organs of gymnosperms and angiosperms, are used for edible, medicinal, and industrial purposes. Transcription factors (TFs) are master regulators of plant growth, development, and stress responses. This review describes, in detail, the functions of TFs in regulating seed development. Different TFs, or even different TF families, may have similar functions in seed development. For example, WUSCHEL‐related homeobox, LEC2/FUS3/ABI3, and HEME ACTIVATOR PROTEIN3 families can control plant seed embryonic initiation and development. In contrast, some members of the same TF family may have completely opposite roles. For instance, AtMYB76 and AtMYB89 inhibit the accumulation of seed oil, whereas AtMYB96 promotes seed fatty acid accumulation in Arabidopsis thaliana. Compared with the number of studies that have addressed regulation by single TFs, only a few have focused on multiple‐TF regulatory networks. Materials and Methods: We searched the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases for relevant studies with a combination of the terms "Helicobacter pylori" and "polyps." The risk ratio was used to compare the effect of H. pylori eradication/treatment on GHP. We also calculated the pooled disappearance rate of GHP in the H. pylori eradication/treatment group and persistent infection group. Results: We analyzed data from 6 studies, including 3 RCTs. A total of 58/394 patients were included in the H. pylori treatment/successful eradication group, and 57/302 patients were included in the H. pylori untreated/persistent infection group. The pooled rate of GHP elimination after H. pylori treatment/successful eradication was 59% (95% CI, 43%‐75%)/79% (95% CI, 72%‐86%). H. pylori treatment/successful eradication significantly increased the GHP elimination rate [ITT: (pooled rate: 58% vs. 0%, RR =22.24, 95% CI, 4.51– 109.78, p = 0.0001), PP: (pooled rate: 65% vs. 0%, RR =22.25, 95% CI, 4.52– 109.37, p = 0.0001)/(pooled rate: 79% vs. 9%, RR =26.87, 95% CI, 1.34–540.5, p = 0.03)]. Conclusions: Our meta‐analysis showed that after the eradication of H. pylori, most GHPs are eliminated. With radical global climate change and global warming, high temperature stress has become one of major factors exerting a major influence on crop production. In the cotton ( Gossypium hirsutum L.)-growing areas of China, especially in the Yangtze River valley, unexpected periodic episodes of extreme heat stress usually occur in July and August, the peak time of cotton flowering and boll loading, resulting in lower boll set and lint yield. Breeding programs for screening high temperature-tolerant cotton germplasm and cultivars are urgent in order to stabilize yield in the current and future warmer weather conditions. In the present study, 14 cotton cultivars were quantified for in vitro pollen germination and pollen tube growth in response to temperatures ranging from 10 to 50 °C at 5 °C intervals. Different cotton genotypes varied in their in vitro pollen germination and pollen tube length responses to the different temperatures. Maximum pollen germination and pollen tube length ranged from 25.2% to 56.2% and from 414 to 682 μm, respectively. The average cardinal temperatures (Tmin, Topt, and Tmax) also varied among the 14 cultivars and were 11.8, 27.3, and 42.7 °C for pollen germination and 11.8, 27.8, and 44.1 °C for maximum pollen tube length. Variations in boll retention and boll numbers per plant in field experiments were found for the 14 cotton cultivars and the boll retention and boll retained per plant on 20 August varied considerably in different years according to weather conditions. Boll retention on 20 August was highly correlated with maximum pollen germination (R2= 0.84) and pollen tube length (R2=0.64). A screening method based on principle component analysis of the combination of pollen characteristics in an in vitro experiment and boll retention testing in the field environment was used in the present study and, as a result, the 14 cotton cultivars could be classified as tolerant, moderately tolerant, moderately susceptible and susceptible to high temperature. Objective: With the emergence of rapid urbanization and the increase in per capita income, migration in China has been changing from economy‐driven to amenity‐driven. We seek to investigate the relation between land urbanization, urban amenities, and population urbanization by analyzing urban amenities in the analytical framework of land urbanization and population urbanization in China. Methods: Using panel data of 277 cities in China from 2009 to 2018, we first employ the principal component analysis to calculate urban amenities and then conduct panel threshold model regressions. Results: Land urbanization has a positive effect on urban amenities at the individual city level, while urban amenities have a negative effect on population urbanization in both large and small–medium cities. Reforming the household registration system has effectively improved the accessibility of urban amenities for high‐skilled labors in large cities. Thus, amenities in large cities have a positive effect on the urbanization of high‐skilled labors. In contrast, amenities in small–medium cities have a threshold effect on population urbanization. Conclusion: Amenities in large and small–medium cities, which are located in the same urban agglomerations, could be coordinated and improved, thus achieving a long‐term sustainable and coordinated development of land and population urbanization. Background and Aims: About 20% of patients receiving nucleos(t)ide analogues treatment experienced low‐level viraemia (LLV), which is associated with progression of liver fibrosis and high risk of hepatocellular carcinoma. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of switching from entecavir (ETV) to tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TAF) in ETV‐treated patients with LLV. Methods: In this prospective study, ETV‐treated patients with LLV, presented to our hospital from December 2018 to October 2019, were enrolled. Switching to TAF or continuing ETV was given. The primary effectiveness endpoint was complete virological response (CVR) at 24 weeks, and the safety endpoint was the first occurrence of any clinical adverse event during the treatment. Results: Totally, 211 patients were recruited and propensity score matching (PSM) generated 75 patients in either TAF or ETV group. After PSM, baseline characteristics were balanced in two groups. After 24‐week treatment, the CVR and ALT normalization in TAF group were 62.7% and 47.6%, which were higher than 9.3% and 10.5% in ETV group (OR 16.4, 95% CI 6.6‐40.0, P <.001) respectively. Subgroup analysis showed that switching to TAF achieved favours CVR regardless of the status of sex, age, CHB family history, HBV DNA, HBeAg and cirrhosis, whereas alcohol consumption and diabetes mellitus might compromise the CVR of switching to TAF. Both therapies were well tolerated and had satisfying renal safety. Conclusions: For ETV‐treated patients with LLV, switching to TAF is safe enough and superior compared with continuing ETV monotherapy regarding both virological and biochemical benefits. Aims: The aim of the study was to evaluate the suitability of the current caffeine dosing regimen for the Chinese population using modelling and simulation approach. Methods: Pharmacokinetic samples were collected from 99 Chinese newborns with premature apnoea. The median (range) of gestational age and postmenstrual age were 28.3 (25.0–33.4) weeks and 31.1 (26.4–38.0) weeks, respectively. Newborns were receiving caffeine citrate at a loading dose of 20 mg/kg/d and a maintenance dose of 5–10 mg/kg/d. Caffeine concentrations and CYP1A2 polymorphisms were investigated. Population pharmacokinetic modelling of caffeine in Chinese preterm newborn on a population‐wide scale was conducted using NONMEM. Results: A 1‐compartment model with first‐order elimination was used to describe population pharmacokinetic. With current weight implemented using 0.75 allometric scaling, clearance (CL) was positively related to current weight and postmenstrual age, but a negative relationship was observed with serum creatinine concentration. Eight genotypes of CYP1A2 were tested and none of them had a significant impact on caffeine pharmacokinetic parameters. Interindividual variability of CL and volume of distribution was 7.70 and 65.9%. The median (range) of 95% confidence intervals of CL were 0.0128 (0.0128–0.0131) L/h/kg. Monte Carlo simulation demonstrated that 80% (loading dose) and 98% (maintenance dose) of premature infants treated with a labelled dosing regimen attained the concentration target range of 5–20 mg/L. Conclusion: A population PK model of caffeine was developed in Chinese newborns. Body weight‐implemented allometric scaling, postmenstrual age and serum creatinine concentration markedly affected caffeine clearance. Objectives: Subbranches of Y‐chromosome haplogroup C2a‐L1373 are founding paternal lineages in northern Asia and Native American populations. Our objective was to investigate C2a‐L1373 differentiation in northern Asia and its implications for Native American origins. Materials and Methods: Sequences of rare subbranches (n = 43) and ancient individuals (n = 37) of C2a‐L1373 (including P39 and MPB373), were used to construct phylogenetic trees with age estimation by BEAST software. Results: C2a‐L1373 expanded rapidly approximately 17.7,000–14.3,000 years ago (kya) after the last glacial maximum (LGM), generating numerous sublineages which became founding paternal lineages of modern northern Asian and Native American populations (C2a‐P39 and C2a‐MPB373). The divergence pattern supports possible initiation of differentiation in low latitude regions of northern Asia and northward diffusion after the LGM. There is a substantial gap between the divergence times of C2a‐MPB373 (approximately 22.4 or 17.7 kya) and C2a‐P39 (approximately 14.3 kya), indicating two possible migration waves. Discussion We discussed the decreasing time interval of "Beringian standstill" (2.5 ky or smaller) and its reduced significance. We also discussed the multiple possibilities for the peopling of the Americas: the "Long‐term Beringian standstill model," the "Short‐term Beringian standstill model," and the "Multiple waves of migration model." Our results support the argument from ancient DNA analyses that the direct ancestor group of Native Americans is an admixture of "Ancient Northern Siberians" and Paleolithic communities from the Amur region, which appeared during the post‐LGM era, rather than ancient populations in greater Beringia, or an adjacent region, before the LGM. Background: Variants in the GJB2 gene encoding the gap junction protein connexin‐26 (Cx26) can cause autosomal recessive nonsyndromic hearing loss or a variety of phenotypically variable autosomal dominant disorders that effect skin and hearing, such as palmoplantar keratoderma (PPK) with deafness and keratitis–ichthyosis–deafness (KID) syndrome. Here, we report a patient with chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, hyperkeratosis with resorption of the finger tips, profound bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, and normal hair and ocular examination. Exome analysis identified a novel missense variant in GJB2 (NM_004004.5:c.101T>A, p.Met34Lys) that was inherited from a mosaic unaffected parent in the setting of a well‐reported GJB2 loss of function variant (NM_004004.5:c.35delG, p.Gly12Valfs*2) on the other allele. Method: Rat epidermal keratinocytes were transfected with cDNA encoding wildtype Cx26 and/or the Met34Lys mutant of Cx26. Fixed cells were immunolabeled in order to assess the subcellular location of the Cx26 mutant and cell images were captured. Results: Expression in rat epidermal keratinocytes revealed that the Met34Lys mutant was retained in the endoplasmic reticulum, unlike wildtype Cx26, and failed to reach the plasma membrane to form gap junctions. Additionally, the Met34Lys mutant acted dominantly to wildtype Cx26, restricting its delivery to the cell surface. Conclusion: Overall, we show the p.Met34Lys variant is a novel dominant acting variant causing PPK with deafness. Objectives: The Hui people are the adherents of Muslim faith and distributing throughout China. There are two contrasting hypotheses about the origin and diversification of the Hui people, namely, the demic diffusion involving the mass movement of people or simple cultural diffusion. Materials and methods: We collected 621 unrelated male individuals from 23 Hui populations all over China. We comprehensively genotyped more than 100 informative Y‐chromosomal single nucleotide polymorphisms and 17 Y‐chromosomal short tandem repeats (STRs) on those samples. Results: Co‐analyzed with published worldwide populations, our results suggest the origin of Hui people has involved massive assimilation of indigenous East Asians with about 70% in total of the paternal ancestry could be traced back to East Asia and the left 30% to various regions in West Eurasia. Discussion: The genetic structure of the extant Hui populations was primarily shaped by the indigenous East Asian populations as they contribute the majority part of the paternal lineages of Hui people. The West Eurasian admixture was probably a sex‐biased male‐driven process since we have not found such a high proportion of West Eurasian gene flow on autosomal STRs and maternal mtDNA. Introduction: Standard bi‐level non‐invasive ventilation with fixed‐level pressure support (PS) delivery may not maintain ventilation during the changes in pulmonary mechanics that occur throughout day and night, so average volume‐assured pressure support (AVAPS) modes that target a preset volume by adjustment of PS may be effective. Objective: Our meta‐analysis wants to compare AVAPS and pressure support non‐invasive ventilation (PS‐NIV) regarding arterial blood gases (ABGs), sleep efficiency and compliance. Method: Relevant publications indexed in PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, Wanfang Data, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and VIPI were identified. Appropriate articles identified from the reference lists of the above searches were also reviewed. We included randomized controlled trials involved the use of AVAPS and PS‐NIV ventilation for chronic respiratory failure. Each included study weighted mean differences, and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated for continuous outcomes. Statistical heterogeneity was assessed using the I2 value ≤ 50% were considered as no statistical heterogeneity and used fixed effects model. Otherwise, a random effects model was used. Results: Eight trials were eligible. No significant difference was observed between AVAPS and PS‐NIV groups to compare PaCO2 (OR −0.97, CI‐2.54‐0.61, P = 0.23) and PaO2 (OR −1.81, CI‐4.29‐0.67, P = 0.15) in ABGs. There was no significant difference between the two groups with sleep efficiency (OR −3.31, CI‐7.58‐0.95, P = 0.13) and visual analog scale (OR 0.32, CI‐6.97‐7.61, P = 0.93). Aims: Increasing evidence indicates that neuroinflammatory and oxidative stress play two pivotal roles in cognitive impairment after surgery. Honokiol (HNK), as an activator of Sirtuin3 (SIRT3), has potential multiple biological functions. The aim of these experiments is to evaluate the effects of HNK on surgery/anesthesia‐induced cognitive decline in mice. Methods: Adult C57BL/6 mice received a laparotomy under sevoflurane anesthesia and HNK or SIRT3 inhibitor (3‐TYP) treatment. Cognitive function and locomotor activity of mice were evaluated using fear conditioning test and open field test on postoperative 1 and 3 days. Neuronal apoptosis in CA1 and CA3 area of hippocampus was examined using TUNEL assay. And Western blot was applied to measure the expression of pro‐inflammatory cytokines and SIRT3/SOD2 signaling‐associated proteins in hippocampus. Meanwhile, SIRT3 positive cells were calculated by immunohistochemistry. The mitochondrial membrane potential, malondialdehyde (MDA), and mitochondrial radical oxygen species (mtROS) were detected using standard methods. Results: Honokiol attenuated surgery‐induced memory loss and neuronal apoptosis, decreased neuroinflammatory response, and ameliorated oxidative damage in hippocampus. Notably, surgery/anesthesia induced an obviously decrease in hippocampal SIRT3 expression, whereas the HNK increased SIRT3 expression and thus decreased the acetylation of superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2). However, 3‐TYP treatment inhibited the HNK's rescuing effects. Conclusions: These results suggested that activation of SIRT3 by honokiol may attenuate surgery/anesthesia‐induced cognitive impairment in mice through regulation of oxidative stress and neuroinflammatory in hippocampus. Aims: Because of concerns about the safety of aliskiren in patients with diabetes, study treatment was stopped prematurely in the Aliskiren Trial of Minimizing OutcomeS for Patients with HEart failuRE (ATMOSPHERE). We examined outcomes and treatment effect in these patients compared with those without diabetes.Methods and Results: ATMOSPHERE included 7016 patients with heart failure and a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) randomly assigned to enalapril plus aliskiren, aliskiren alone, or enalapril. At baseline, 1944 (27.7%) patients had diabetes. Median follow-up was shorter in patients with diabetes compared with those without (24 months vs. 46 months). Among patients with diabetes, the primary endpoint of cardiovascular death or hospitalization for heart failure occurred in 216 patients (33.1%) in the enalapril group (reference), 172 (27.4%) in the aliskiren group [hazard ratio (HR) 0.82, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.67-1.00; P = 0.053], and 196 (29.5%) in the combination group (HR 0.86, 95% CI 0.71-1.04; P = 0.13). The effects of the treatments studied did not differ significantly compared with patients without diabetes. In patients with diabetes, aliskiren monotherapy was associated with a lower risk of symptomatic hypotension compared to enalapril [42 (6.7%) vs. 65 (10.0%); P = 0.04], whereas other adverse events were generally balanced between the three groups.Conclusion: In patients with HFrEF and diabetes, there was no signal of harm and a trend towards benefit when direct renin inhibition monotherapy was compared with an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, whereas combined aliskiren and enalapril treatment led to more adverse events with no improvement in outcomes. As a traditional medicinal plant, Juglans mandshurica has been used for the treatment of cancer. Different organs of this plant showed anti-tumor activity in clinic and laboratory. Comparative identification of constituents in different plant organs is essential for investigation of the relationship between chemical constituents and pharmacological activities. For this aim, the roots, branches, and leaves of J. mandshurica were extracted with 50% v/v methanol and then subjected to ultra-high performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry analysis conducted under low and high energy. As a result, we have to date identified 111 compounds consisting of 56 tannins, 29 flavonoids, 13 organic acids, 8 naphthalene derivatives, and 5 anthracenes. Five compounds, namely, diquercetin trihydroxy-truxinoyl-glucoside, two quercetin kaempferol dihydroxy-truxinoyl-glucosides, syringoyl-tri-galloyl- O-glucose, and dihydroxy-naphthalene syringoyl-glucoside, were tentatively identified as new compounds. Of the compounds identified, 76 were found in the root extract, 67 in the branch extract, and 37 in the leaf extract. Only six compounds including four organic acids and two tannins were found in all three extracts. We developed a rapid and sensitive ultra high performance liquid chromatography with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry approach to identify multiple constituents of complex extracts without separation and ion selection. Propofol has been found to play an important role in hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury with the antioxidant effects. However, the molecular mechanism of propofol in hepatic I/R injury has not been fully understood. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into Sham group, hepatic I/R group, and propofol treatment group. I/R injury was attained by ischemia for 1 h and reperfusion for 2 h. Serum aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activity were detected. QSG-7701 cells were cultured in hypoxia condition for 15 h and then in reoxygenation condition for 6 h to imitate hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) injury in vitro. Real-time RT-PCR and Western blot were performed to determine the expression of miR-133a-5p and MAPK6. Luciferase reporter assay was used to determine the regulation of miR-133a-5p on MAPK6. Propofol significantly reduced the activities of serum AST and ALT induced by hepatic I/R injury in rats. Propofol increased the level of miR-133a-5p and decreased the expression of MAPK6 in vivo and in vitro. Luciferase reporter assay showed that MAPK6 was a target of miR-133a-5p. Knockdown of miR-133a-5p abrogated the effect of propofol on the upregulation of MAPK6 induced by H/R. MAPK6 overexpression promoted the cell apoptosis induced by H/R which could be attenuated by propofol. Finally, we found that miR-133a-5p reversed the protective effect of propofol in rats with hepatic I/R injury. Long non-coding (lncRNA) MALAT1 can be increased by hypoxia or ischemic limbs. Also, downregulation of MALAT1 contributes to reduction of cardiomyocyte apoptosis. However, the functional involvement of MALAT1 in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury has not been defined. This study investigated the functional involvement of lncRNA-MALAT1 in cardioprotective effects of fentanyl. HL-1, a cardiac muscle cell line from the AT-1 mouse atrial cardiomyocyte tumor lineage was pre-treated with fentanyl and generated cell model of hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R). Relative expression of MALAT1, miR-145, and Bnip3 mRNA in cells was determined by quantitative real-time PCR. Cardiomyocyte H/R injury was indicated by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) release and cell apoptosis. The results showed that fentanyl abrogates expression of responsive gene for H/R and induces downregulation of MALAT1 and Bnip3 and upregulation of miR-145. We found that miR-145/Bnip3 pathway was negatively regulated by MALAT1 in H/R-HL-1 cell with or without fentanyl treatment. Moreover, both MALAT1 overexpression and miR-145 knockdown reverse cardioprotective effects of fentanyl, as indicated by increase in LDH release and cell apoptosis. The reversal effect of MALAT1 for fentanyl is confirmed in cardiac ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) mice. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) and quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (Q-TOF-MS) were used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of wild Panax species, especially wild P. vietnamensis, which is an important medicinal plant. We determined the types and concentrations of ginsenosides in radix and rhizome of wild P. vietnamensis. Identification of ginsenosides was achieved using Q-TOF-MS; concentrations were determined by ELSD. The most abundant ginsenosides in wild Vietnamese ginseng were of the ocotillol type, accounting for more than 50% of the total. Compared to the rhizome, the radix had 31% higher ginsenoside content due to variation in protopanaxatriol-type ginsenoside contents. We also found an unusual difference in the chromatograms of the two parts of wild P. vietnamensis. This difference did not appear in other wild species such as P. ginseng and P. quinquefolius. Previous molecular phylogenetic studies of Fabaceae indicated that species of Wisteria, an intercontinental disjunct genus between eastern Asia and eastern North America, formed a clade derived from within Callerya. However, interspecific relationships were not well resolved or supported. In this study, we used sequences of the nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer region and the chloroplast gene matK to examine interspecific relationships and explore implications of the phylogeny for the systematics and biogeography of Wisteria. Our results showed that Wisteria with deciduous leaves and racemose inflorescences formed a strongly supported clade derived from within the paraphyletic Callerya. Afgekia was also found to be included within Callerya. Therefore, our data support the merger of Afgekia, Callerya, and Wisteria. The phylogenetic pattern suggested that the deciduousness in Wisteria may be a derived trait likely in response to temperate climate, and the racemose inflorescences in the Afgekia- Callerya- Wisteria clade may have evolved from panicles. Our study also provided strong support for the sister relationship of the North American and eastern Asian species of Wisteria. In the Asian clade, Wisteria brachybotrys Siebold & Zucc. of Japan was sister to the clade containing W. floribunda (Willd.) DC of Japan and Korea, and W. sinensis (Sims) Sweet of China. However, our data offered weak support for the sister relationship of W. floribunda and W. sinensis. Our divergence time and biogeographic analyses suggested that the eastern Asian-North American disjunction in Wisteria may have occurred through a dispersal event in the middle Miocene (13.4 Mya) from the Old World to the New World across the Bering land bridge followed by vicariance in the late Miocene (6.8 Mya). Progestin supplementation appears to be a promising approach to both preventing initiation of preterm labor and treating it once it is already established, given the role of progesterone in maintaining pregnancy, as well as support from basic and clinical research. Progesterone and 17α-hydroxyprogesterone acetate slow the process of cervical ripening, and this is the rationale for prophylactic long-term progestin supplementation mostly studied so far. However, progesterone (but not 17α-hydroxyprogesterone acetate) also inhibits myometrial activity even after the cervix has already ripened. Moreover, these effects depend greatly on the vehicle used and the route of administration. Understanding different mechanisms of action, as well as the importance of progestin formulation, vehicle and route of administration, is the key to finding the optimal progestin treatment for prevention of preterm birth. They only measure the onset of labor indirectly and do not detect cellular changes characteristic of true labor. Consequently, their predictive values for term or preterm delivery are poor. Uterine contractions are a result of the electrical activity within the myometrium. Measurement of uterine electromyography (EMG) has been shown to detect contractions as accurately as the currently used methods. In addition, changes in cell excitability and coupling required for effective contractions that lead to delivery are reflected in changes of several EMG parameters. D-Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (=D-GAP; 2) was prepared by an improved chemical method (Scheme 2), and it was then employed to synthesize 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate (=DXP; 3) which is enzymatically one of the key intermediates in the MEP (4) terpenoid biosynthetic pathway (Scheme 1). The recombinant DXP synthase of Rhodobacter capsulatus was used to catalyze the condensation of D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate (2) and pyruvate (=2-oxopropanoate; 1) to produce the sugar phosphate 3 (Scheme 2). The simple two-step chemoenzymatic route described affords DXP (3) with more than 70% overall yield and higher than 95% purity. Starch biosynthesis, a very critical event during pollen development, is not well understood in terms of gene regulation and intracellular controls. Using the rice HL-type cytoplasmic male sterile (HL-CMS) line with starch deficiency in pollen and two related male-fertile lines ( Oryza sativa L.), we have studied two specific developmental stages: ‘early’, that is, before or during pollen mitosis I, without starch accumulation, and ‘late’, the actively starch-filling postpollen mitosis I phase. Real-time reverse transcription-PCR analysis showed temporal changes in the expression patterns of six metabolic genes involved in the sucrose–starch pathway, i.e. sucrose synthase (EC 2.4.1.13), Rsus3; acid invertase (EC 3.2.1.26), OSINV2; phosphoglucomutase (EC 5.4.2.2), OsPGM; uridine diphosphate-glucose pyrophosphorylase (EC 2.7.7.9), OsUGP; a subunit of adenosine diphosphate-glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGPase) (EC 2.2.7.2), OsAGPL3; soluble starch synthase (EC 2.4.1.21), OsSSI and three transporter genes [sucrose transporter, OsSUT3; hexose transporter, OSMST7 and plasma membrane H+-adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) (EC 3.6.1.35), OSA2]. Regarding metabolic enzyme activities, lower activity of sucrose synthase was detected at ‘late’ compared with ‘early’ stage in the three rice lines; invertase and other downstream enzymes had higher activities at ‘late’ stage in male-fertile but not male-sterile lines. Meanwhile, significantly reduced sugars and ATP levels were detected at ‘early’ and ‘late’ stages in male-sterile compared with male-fertile tissues. Furthermore, transgenic data showed that AGPase gene can stimulate starch accumulation in pollen of male-sterile host lines, showing the importance of AGPase in the metabolic pathway. Taken together, these data suggest that the combined effects of the reduced energy supply and sugar levels in starch biosynthesis may lead to the observed temporal changes in gene expression, and eventually to pollen sterility. Purpose:To study the antiepileptic properties of extracts from rhizomes ofAcorus tatarinowiiSchott (ATS).Methods:The decoction and volatile oil were extracted from rhizomes of ATS by traditional decocting and supercritical CO2 fluid extraction (SFE-CO2) methods. Maximal electroshock (MES), pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) maximal seizure, and prolonged PTZ kindling models were used to test their anticonvulsive properties. Theγ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) immunohistochemical reaction (IR) was used to study GABAergic neuron changes in the PTZ kindling model and the effects of treatment.Results:Both decoction (dose; 10–20 g/kg) and volatile oil (1.25 g/kg) of ATS decreased the convulsive rate significantly in the MES model. Decoction of ATS was shown to be effective in the PTZ model with both decreased convulsive and mortality rates. The volatile oil of ATS failed to prevent seizures in the dose range tested, although prolonged seizure latency and decreased mortality were found at a dose of 1.25 g/kg. In the PTZ kindling model, GABA-IR neurons decreased obviously compared with the normal group. In the groups treated with the decoction and volatile oil, the seizure intensity decreased significantly after treatment. Increased GABA-IR neurons also were found when compared with PTZ kindling controls. Morphologic observation also showed that GABA-IR neuron damage was less severe in the drug-treated groups.Conclusions:Both decoction and volatile oil extracted from the rhizome ofAcorus tatarinowiiSchott have anticonvulsive effects. The volatile oil is shown to be less effective for PTZ-induced convulsions.
