I lay out the context to the White Paper, and I summarise its main proposals, focusing especially on efforts to reduce the harms caused by gambling. I also offer a critical analysis of one particularly significant and contentious proposed reform: mandated affordability checks for online gambling, when losses reach certain thresholds. I suggest that these checks reflect and deepen a shared regulatory, industry, and academic faith in online gambling technologies to resolve social responsibility problems, with wider implications for consumer surveillance and public health. Microdisplay on silicon backplane is a promising architecture for XR systems. While digital circuitry is advantageous on silicon backplane, digital driving display introduces visual artifacts. First, we investigated the mechanism and solution of visual artifacts relevant for XR displays. Next, we proposed a intraframe time warp (ITW) to compensate for visual artifacts from head motion. ITW provide benefits to µOLED displays in XR systems by utilizing the higher frequency of digital driving. Lastly, we studied a 4K resolution digital µOLED displays expecting more than 40% of power saving in driving. The proposed digital driving solution with ITW is advantageous in power consumption and visual performance, however, the development of related technology is crucial to build the system. We introduce a high‐throughput field programmable active‐matrix digital microfluidics system designed for large‐scale biological experiments. The fabricated microfluidics chip consists of a 640×280‐pixel array, each pixel measuring at 100×100 μm. This configuration enables the addressing of individual pixels, facilitating parallel droplet manipulation. The system utilizes 9T2C GOA circuits for generating row scanning signals, and 3T1C pixel circuits to provide driving voltage to individual pixels. The system exhibited a notably elevated proficiency in high‐resolution droplet generation and manipulation, with over 80% droplet division success rate and more than 20 hours of stable single‐droplet movement. The minimum volume of an individual droplet amenable to stable manipulation is 1.2 nL, featuring a droplet resolution of four pixels, which is two orders of magnitude less than the previously reported volume at IEDM. This research lays the foundation for the utilization of digital microfluidics in the realms of in vitro diagnostics and biological and chemical experiments focused on single‐cell analyses. The increasing use of digital technologies has implications for reading. Online and on‐screen reading often consist of engaging with multiple, short, multimedia snippets of information, whereas longform reading is in decline. Meta‐analyses have identified a screen inferiority when reading informational texts, but not narrative texts. The mode effect is explained by reference to the Shallowing Hypothesis, postulating that increased screen reading leads to a propensity to skim and scan rather than carefully read, since digital reading material is typically composed of short, decontextualized snippets of multimedia content rather than long, linear, texts. Experiments have found support for the Shallowing Hypothesis when reading expository/informational texts, but the impact of increased habituation to screens on, specifically, literary reading, is largely unknown. It is plausible that shallow modes of reading, prompted by increased screen use, may compromise one's capacity to engage deeply with literary texts and, in turn, negatively affect readers' motivation and inclination to engage in slower, more reflective, and more effortful reading. This article presents the results from three experiments exploring associations between reading behavior, medium preferences, and the reading of a short literary text on paper versus screen. Although mixed, the results revealed an overall pattern for the role of medium: more frequent reading of short texts on screen predicted less inclination to muster the cognitive persistence required for reading a longer text, and engage in contemplation on the deeper and personally relevant meaning of the literary text. Death is an inevitable part of life and highly relevant to information management: its approach often requires preparation, and its occurrence often demands a response. Many works in information science have acknowledged so much, and yet death is rarely a focused topic, appearing instead sporadically and disconnected across research. As a result there is no introduction to, overview of, or synthesis across studies on death and information. We therefore conducted an extensive literature search and reviewed nearly 300 scholarly publications at the intersection of death and information (and data) management. Covering seven topics in total, we review two groups of work directly engaging information management in relation to death (digital possessions, inheritance, and legacy; information behavior, needs, and practices around death), three engaging death and technology that require information and its management (death and the Internet, thanatosensitive design and technology‐augmented death practices, and the digital afterlife and digital immortality), and two reflecting the ethical and legal dimensions unique to death and information. We then integrate the collective findings to summarize the landscape of death‐related information research, outline remaining challenges for individuals, families, institutions, and society, and identify promising directions for future information science research. This paper analyses the digital ecosystem (DES), entrepreneurial ecosystem (EES) and economic development (ED) indicators as key determinants of digital technology entrepreneurship (DTE) across the globe. The correlation matrix depicts an important relationship between DTE, DES, EES and ED. Further, the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS‐SEM) results show that DES and EES have a favourable and significant influence on the establishment of digital technology entrepreneurship (DTE) globally. However, the ED, though, has a positive and significant impact on EES and DES, not directly impacting DTE. Carrying out digital innovation is the main channel for enterprises to stimulate internal vitality and enhance core competitiveness in the digital economy era. Based on the Panel data of A‐share listed high‐tech enterprises from 2011 to 2020, this paper integrates digital strategy, executive incentive, and financial flexibility into the same analytical framework from an inter‐organizational perspective and uses the random effect Tobit model to study their direct or indirect effects on digital innovation. The research results indicate that digital strategy has a significant positive impact on digital innovation, while the indirect effect of diversified management weakens the positive impact of digital strategy, specifically manifested as the masking effect; executive incentives have a significant positive impact on digital innovation, while equity concentration negatively moderates the impact of executive incentives on digital innovation; financial flexibility has an inverted U‐shaped impact on digital innovation. The paper introduces the student‐coined term digital instinct which describes students' disposition to resorting to digital technology for solving problems and doing school assignments. Taking cues from the term digital instinct, the paper describes a student perspective on digital literacy emerging from 100 lived experience descriptions and interviews with 37 Danish upper secondary students. The findings show that students' digital practice is characterised by experience‐based, intuitive and familiar use of technologies. Most notably, students employ digital technologies as cognitive partners that help them carry on with assignments that they initially did not understand, but that they were able to complete with the help of the computer. The study examines the nature of this partnership through the words of the students and identifies how technologies expand student agency but fall short of a reflective use of digital technologies. Recognising the strengths and weaknesses of students' digital practices may inform the concept of digital literacy and encourage teachers to acknowledge the digital instinct as a steppingstone to foster students' reflective use of digital technologies. The emerging microfluidic tools bring new methods for miniaturized analytical systems and single cells manipulation. This study presents an active‐matrix digital microfluidic platform for single cells generation and manipulation. The microfluidic chip was fabricated by amorphous silicon (a‐6i) thin‐film transistor (TFT) technology. The active device contains 26,368 electrodes that can be independently addressed to perform multiple and simultaneous droplets manipulation. The electrode array consists of electrodes differing in shape and size. The combination of various electrodes can give full play of their advantages, thus improve the droplet movement stability and generation uniformity. This paper investigates digital inequalities in usage within African informal sectors. In particular, we examine whether the uneven digital diffusion is embedded in pre‐existing socio‐economic inequalities. After identifying three segments of informal firms, we rely on multivariate and decomposition analyses to identify predictors of usage of digital technologies for business purposes and explain usage gaps between segments. Our findings suggest that digital inequalities are rooted in the vertical heterogeneity of informal sectors, with some firm characteristics significantly predicting professional use of digital technologies. To date, older adults have received little attention in the newly emerging technological narratives of transnational religion. This is surprising, given the strong association of later life with spiritual and religious engagement, but it likely reflects the ongoing assumption that older adults are technophobic or technologically incompetent. Drawing on ethnographic interviews with older Sinhalese Buddhist migrants from Sri Lanka, living in Melbourne, this paper explores the digital articulations of transnational religion that arise from older migrants' uses of digital media. We focus on how engagements with digital media enable older Sinhalese to respond to an urgent need to accumulate merit in later life, facilitating their temporal strategies for ageing as migrants. Outdoor displays become rapidly digital in our digital world. These digital displays are typically emissive, implying a very high‐power consumption to be seen in the daylight, and light pollution in nighttime. Last year Etulipa announced and demonstrated a full colour reflective display based on Electro Wetting Display technology with 10mm pixel pitch. The vertically stacked Cyan Magenta Yellow architecture yields very bright colours. The high switching speed of electrowetting cells enable displaying of video content. The power consumption is 7 W/m 2 implying that the displays can run on solar systems without any need for charging from the grid. The market feedback consists of several exciting applications which are reviewed. Street furniture is expected to be a very early application. Because the typical viewing distance for street furniture applications will be in the order of meters, the pixel pitch should be in the order of millimeters. This paper experimentally validates a fully digitalized active gate driver for suppressing the switching surge voltage of SiC MOSFETs in a boost converter. High‐voltage power conversion systems are expected to adopt SiC unipolar power devices utilizing their high‐speed switching capability. The high‐speed switching operation causes the switching surge voltage in its switching transient. Active gate driving is a key technology for suppressing it. A fully digitalized active gate driver is particularly focused upon, which freely shaped the output gate‐source voltage waveform by a multi‐bit gate control signal. This driver achieves the dynamical control of the voltage/current behaviours of MOSFET in the switching transient by taking the Miller effect into account. It contributes to suppressing the switching surge voltage. This paper applies this digital active gate driver to a high voltage power conversion circuit. The switching surge voltage is experimentally suppressed by slew rate control with the digital active gate driver for various operating conditions. Paper chromatography is a simple and harmless experiment suitable for lower secondary education. Besides the training of subject‐specific contents, paper chromatography allows the application of modelling and simulation since the submicroscopic processes can be simplified in a way that they become understandable in lower secondary education. Here, the application of digital tools in addition to the experimental performance of paper chromatography in a compulsory STEM course in grade 6 is reported. Following a series of experiments, chromatography is at first simulated by a board game and then by computer simulations. Such simulation program allows the variation of the parameters in order to explore the model and to introduce the particle concept of matter and molecular interactions. The implementation with a graphical programming environment such as Scratch also allows the programming by pupils in this age group. In this way, it is possible to introduce modelling and simulation in an early stage as important contributions to scientific work in natural sciences. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

As large enterprises embrace Digital Transformation, it is obvious that merely scanning paper documents to digital form is inadequate to achieve their broader goals. These must be transformed into more granular data that are version controlled, configuration managed and connected – i.e., a digital thread. As a digital thread begins to span the product lifecycle, its complexity increases exponentially with the number of lifecycle phases and application areas that it encompasses. This quickly becomes intractable, given the "normal" approach to finding and presenting data in PLM platforms. The goal of creating these enormous and rapidly growing networks of data is not just to archive the data. They must empower the product teams to be productive and to make the most effective use of this dynamic data network to meet the rapidly changing goals of the corporation as it reacts to the market's needs. The digital age has brought about a revolution in the way we manage our finances, with more and more financial services moving online. However, not all communities have the same level of digital competency, leading to disparities in access to financial services. This study delves into the digital competencies' framework necessary for financial services to sustain vulnerable communities in the digital era. The COVID‐19 pandemic has accelerated the digital shift, leaving many communities struggling to adapt. The study aims to understand the challenges and opportunities presented by this shift, and how key stakeholders can support disadvantaged communities in developing their digital skills and accessing resources. The "Digital Financial Services Consumer Competency Framework" was identified as most appropriate for the study. Respective governments and other key stakeholders must assist with the development of digital hubs, from which vulnerable communities can access digital skills and resources. The research method used is a systematic literature review of 19 published papers, which were analyzed to generate statistics, visualization maps, and theories for the study. Background: Text comprehension research in relation to the reading medium showed that digital‐based reading represents a disadvantage compared with paper‐based reading. Most paper versus screen research; however, was conducted with university students. Objectives: This study investigated the contribution of reading medium to text comprehension and medium preference in beginner readers who use technology for school learning. The moderating role of text genre, word reading and medium preference on the reading medium effect on text comprehension was also analysed. Methods: First graders (N = 115; mean age = 6;8 years) read narrative and informational linear texts on paper and computer screen and answered main idea, literal and inferential comprehension questions. Medium preference questions and a word reading task were administered. Results and Conclusions: Logistic mixed models showed that the main idea and literal comprehension of narrative and informational linear texts were greater on screen and for higher word reading skills. Inferential comprehension was lower on screen at lower levels of word reading skills but became similar for the two media as word reading increased. Children had no clear medium preference and medium effect on text comprehension was independent of children's medium preference. The main results show that beginner readers who use technology for learning and are fast and accurate in word reading display no comprehension disadvantage in digital reading. Takeaways: Our results add to existing knowledge by clarifying how reading medium effects on beginner readers' text comprehension interact with factors such as fundamental reading skills and experience with technology. With the development of 5G technology, artificial intelligence and autonomous driving technology, cars are gradually transforming to intelligent and digital. Once driverless technology is implemented, the cars are likely to become a third space. In this third space, whether it is a passenger or a driver, the demand for office and entertainment will continue to grow. So having a high definition screen and a good human‐computer interaction system are essential for this cars. As cars move towards digitalization, there are more and more screens in the cars, and more and more dual screens or multiple screens are used in the cluster and center control area. But there are different levels of chromatic aberration between different screens and the interaction between different screens is more complicated. A larger screen can achieve better optical taste and make the interaction between different function areas easier, it is becoming a trend to replace the dual or multiple screens. LTPS(Low Temperature Poly Silicon) has the higher electronic mobility, it is easier to achieve high resolution, high frequency, in‐cell touch integration and large screen. The displays based on LTPS technology can meet the development demands of vehicle displays, will be more and more widely used in the automotive display field. This special issue contributes to the development economics literature by highlighting the role of information communication and technologies (ICTs) in supporting rural and agricultural development. It is comprised of nine papers. Key findings from this special issue include: (1) internet use increases rural consumption diversity and agricultural productivity; (2) smartphone use empowers rural women in household decision‐making and off‐farm work participation; (3) smartphone‐based agricultural extension services boost rural income growth; (4) a lack of ICT infrastructure and inadequate skills to use digital technologies are two key factors that lead to digital poverty traps for smallholder rural farmers; (5) ICT adoption increases the probability of rural households' access to credit and empowers rural women and farm households in relatively less developed regions to access credit; (6) digital financial inclusion reduces farmers' vulnerability to poverty; and (7) e‐commerce adoption increases both sales prices and marketing costs, but the magnitude of increasing the former is higher than the magnitude of increasing the latter, which finally contributes to a higher gross return. This special issue also proposes practical instruments and implications for advancing the application of ICTs in rural areas to accelerate rural and agricultural development in the digital age. Topics include ways to present quantitative data in academic journals for easier understanding, practical information that should be included in research papers and the importance of the research to people with learning disabilities.

Summary: This paper provides some basic definitions associated with digital transformation in organizations and applies those definitions to accounting, electronic commerce, and supply chains. I also drill down on the dimensions associated with digital transformation, including digital everywhere, integration (across applications and with customers and partners), and the need to reengineer processes. I examine several examples of processes ranging from digitization to digital transformation. I also examine the role of people in digitally transformed organizations and some technologies that are important to continued evolution of digitally transformed organizations. Computational thinking is a necessary skill for the 21st century. While previously examined in computer‐rich settings, researchers are increasingly studying computational thinking in unplugged environments such as board games. Focusing on the African board game Songo, this study shows that computational thinking practices are embedded in Songo board gameplay and interact with the cultural context. The study also reveals a computing practice peculiar to Songo gameplay, songoputation. This paper suggests that researchers can benefit from exploring computational thinking and computing practices beyond board games in western contexts. A facile and digital do‐it‐yourself technique is proposed to fabricate inexpensive sensors on flexible substrates (paper, cloth, and plastic film). A set of office‐grade equipment (i.e., laserjet printer, thermal laminator, computer‐aided paper cutter), and commercially available supplies (i.e., baking wax paper, furniture restoration metal‐leaf) are used. Forming electrodes through traditional printing and defining a fluidic confinement region through crafting practice enable fabrication of a wide range of devices without requiring customized specialty instruments, costly infrastructure, and complicated fabrication steps, unlike previously introduced methods. Three different levels of experiments are designed to assess the comprehensiveness and responsiveness of the proposed method to the needs of existing research fields. The performances of the fabricated features at each level are evaluated to cover various application domains in environmental monitoring and biomedical diagnostics utilizing conductometric, colorimetric, biochemical, and chemoresistive detection principles. Devices with varying size of features, from nanometers to centimeters, are fabricated and characterized. This method provides an alternative route to decentralized production of low‐cost flexible sensors and other devices, with a minimal step, time, and facilities. We have developed a new full HD fast‐phase LCoS spatial light modulator (SLM) with color‐sequential function. Combining the optimization of liquid crystal materials with our digital driving technology, the response time can be achieved to less than 10 msec, which is expected suitable to be applied on the head‐up display (HUD) and other holographic fields. This special issue introduction article introduces a set of papers from management scholars discussing the ecosystem of work and organization and offers a roadmap for future research on HR ecosystems. An ecosystem perspective invites us to rethink our current frameworks to better link theory to practice. It also challenges us to shift our level of analysis from the organization to the ecosystem, asking: how is work organized and conducted within this complex and evolving context? These papers uncover trends related to (1) technological mediation, (2) impermanence and adaptation, and (3) shared governance. Our hope is that by framing these trends found within the research in this special issue that scholars will be provided a better road map in moving forward with their own research on the role of HR within the ecosystem of work and organization. Holocaust memorial sites and institutions have begun to embrace new media and digital technologies as methods of communication, public engagement, and memorialization. Despite increasing numbers of interactive digital media projects focused on Holocaust education, there is a significant gulf between the topics addressed by digital Holocaust works and those conceptualized and studied at a higher level in scholarly Holocaust literature. Most notably, challenging questions regarding the categories of bystandership, complicity, and perpetration are largely ignored in favor of traditional victim‐focused narratives. I suggest that, in their eagerness to adopt virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies, digital Holocaust memory projects have neglected the significant potential of nonimmersive video games to address questions regarding bystandership and complicity. By moving away from the perceptual immersion of VR and toward the ludic and simulative arguments of video games, digitally interactive Holocaust projects may be able to lessen the risks of over‐immersion and retraumatization that are antithetical to critical historical thinking and understanding. This article examines the 2013 game Papers, Please as an example of how video games can present sophisticated arguments about human agency, bystandership, and complicity. By placing players in a historical problem space laden with impossible moral choices, Papers, Please demonstrates the systemic forces that structure human behavior under extreme, violent, and authoritarian conditions. I argue that Holocaust‐based ludic digital media modeled after Papers, Please could explore bystandership and complicity in similarly nuanced and powerful ways, potentially touching on academic Holocaust concepts such as the "choiceless choices" of "the gray zone." Addressing these topics in ludic historical media could help to bridge the gap between popular and scholarly understandings of the Holocaust in the twenty‐first century. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Currently, the digital transformation of the provisioning of IT consulting services to clients forces many companies to reinvent their business models. While the importance of digital transformation is well recognised, very little has been done until now to closely examine the concepts characterising this phenomenon in the domain of IT consulting. This paper aims at mapping out what is currently known in scientific literature about the digitalisation of IT consulting service provisioning and its characterising concepts and approaches. Analysing 20 selected articles, we identified 10 concepts characterising the digital IT consulting and 14 areas considered to be candidates for inclusion in the design of digital IT consulting services. Moreover, we found only one approach to the digitalisation of service provisioning that was empirically evaluated. We conclude that (i) the digital transformation is multifaceted and characterised through many aspects; (ii) digital IT consulting services are primarily explored from business perspective, while research of stakeholders' needs, technical requirements, and designs of relevant artefacts is scarce; (iii) while individual solutions and practices that worked in real‐world contexts are reported, very little empirical evaluation was done. This paper responds to calls for research and conceptualizes resilience, responsiveness and reconfigurable (3Rs) capabilities required for handling disruptions in pre‐disruption, during disruption and post‐disruption stages. This paper examined the impact of analytics on 3Rs capabilities in the supply chain context building on the tenets of contingency theory. Drawing on survey data obtained from individuals with managerial positions in firms operating in the United Arab Emirates (n = 151), this study investigates how supply chain analytics foster 3Rs capacities in the face of a pandemic using canonical correlation and linear regression analyses. Supply chain analytics is a relevant predictor for supply chain (i) resilience, (ii) responsiveness, and (iii) restoration/reconfiguration. Inevitable supply chain disruptions call for investment and integration of digital tools like supply chain analytics because they offer timely information for informed decision‐making. Introduction: To guide good practices in patient and public involvement (PPI), several calls have been made to share detailed accounts of practical experiences. We describe our collaboration with young people with a chronic condition (YPCC) in the development, testing and implementation of the digital communication tool MyBoT (Map your Burden of Treatment). Methods: MyBoT was developed by a team of academic researchers, some of whom were practising care providers, YPCC and designers. In addition to the two co‐researchers in the research team, various groups of YPCC were involved in decision‐making through participation in a design session, workshops and a dialogue session. The Involvement Matrix was used to reflect on the PPI of all YPCC. Results: Initially, the two co‐researchers were involved in the roles of informer and co‐thinker, but their decision‐making power within the study increased over time. In the final stages of the study, the co‐researchers and researchers became partners. The other YPCC who participated in the different sessions and workshops were co‐thinkers in all stages of the study. Conclusion: The PPI of two YPCCs as co‐researchers within the research team ensured continuous involvement, whereas the PPI of various groups of YPCCs guaranteed a representative and inclusive approach. Researchers play an essential role in bringing all perspectives together, integrating them within the technical and financial constraints and ultimately building a tool that is tailored to its users' needs. Two YPCC—who are also co‐authors of this paper—were involved in all stages of this project as members of the research team. Industry 4.0 refers to the digital transformation in the manufacturing domain through new technology. Currently, it expands well beyond manufacturing, affecting many areas of life and posing implications for all types of business. This paper focuses on the relationships between Industry 4.0 and Healthcare which transitions to increased interconnectivity, automation and smart decision making. The integration context of Industry 4.0 into Healthcare is only partly understood. Little was done until now to consolidate what is known on the integration benefits and the challenges. This article reports results of a systematic mapping study that analysed 69 papers to extract knowledge about the concepts of Industry 4.0 and the emerging Healthcare 4.0., and the relationships between them. We found 10 different perspectives of Healthcare 4.0, ranging from strategic to tactical and operational levels. Next, our results show: (i) nine applications of Industry 4.0 in the Healthcare domain: Augmented Reality and Simulation, Autonomous Robotics, Cybersecurity, Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Additive Manufacturing and Systems Integration; and (ii) 10 benefits and nine challenges in Healthcare 4.0. The most frequently mentioned benefits are patients' diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, and financial benefits. Introduction: Doctors hold a prima facie duty to respect the autonomy of their patients. This manifests as the patient's 'right' not to know when patients wish to remain unaware of medical information regarding their health, and poses ethical challenges for good medical practice. This paper explores how the emergence of digital health technologies might impact upon the patient's 'right' not to know., Method: The capabilities of digital health technologies are surveyed and ethical implications of their effects on the 'right' not to know are explored., Findings: Digital health technologies are increasingly collecting, processing and presenting medical data as clinically useful information, which simultaneously presents large opportunities for improved health outcomes while compounding the existing ethical challenges generated by the patient's 'right' not to know., Conclusion: These digital tools should be designed to include functionality that mitigates these ethical challenges, and allows the preservation of their user's autonomy with regard to the medical information they wish to learn and not learn about., (© 2024 The Authors. This paper examines the evidence of children's agency in research about infants, toddlers and technologies. It finds that an implicit reliance on technological determinism as a theoretical perspective for positioning technologies relative to young children's development tends to shape research in terms of understanding the impact of technologies on young children. Drawing on critical constructivism as a philosophical stance on technologies, this paper argues that children's agency with technologies may be further investigated in terms of practice architectures to better understand the social mediation of infant and toddler interactions and engagements with technologies. This paper introduces the special issue on accounting and accountability for the digital transformation of public services. Papers in special issues offer different perspectives on how digital technologies affect performance management, considering the challenges and opportunities that arise when digital data are collected and translated into a set of measures, the complexity of relying on these digital data to enhance transparency and accountability, and the organizational implications of digital data when used to support public‐sector decision makers in a variety of activities, such as auditing or benchmarking. Digital transformation brings opportunities to improve how engineering data is tracked and interpreted. Safety analyses, a critical aspect of engineering, are more powerful when captured directly alongside foundational system models. Integrating analyses within the authoritative source of truth provides the team current information and improved context. A model‐based safety approach is a strong first step, but more opportunities await. The value of system safety metrics data increases significantly when elevated into actionable information that decision‐makers need. This paper articulates a specific approach to obtain the software safety aspect of the system trust metric for defense systems, recommends an initial structure of a system trust metric, and identifies future steps for this topic of research. Getting safety data into the digital engineering environment is the first step toward an overall system trust metric as described in the INCOSE 2035 Systems Engineering Vision. As INCOSE also envisions in their recently published vision paper on the future of systems engineering (https://www.incose.org/about-systems-engineering/se-vision-2035), the future society will experience a level of interconnectedness, interrelatedness and networkedness which was not seen before. The technical reality of the realization of this vision largely depends on how we interpret and implement the notion of openness. In particular, the OpenMBEE initiative represents an industrially backed research and development endeavor towards open systems engineering ecosystems of the future. In the OpenMBEE concept and tool portfolio, the open‐source aspect of openness is emphasized. In this paper, we aim at providing a complex analysis of the organizational, conceptual and technical landscape of open digital engineering ecosystems along the notion of the digital thread, where different, often commercially driven engineering domains, tools and stakeholder perspectives fuse into a single, interconnected digital engineering experience. What could be the role of commercial players in, and attitude towards open digital thread ecosystems? Where do emerging initiatives and standards like SysMLv2 take the systems engineering community from this perspective? This paper explores the mechanisms of white supremacy within digital spaces in relation to the body/embodiment, social justice movements, and the nature and expression of contemporary feminism. New digital political economies work through social media such as Instagram to colonise, disempower and obscure the work of Black feminists in the sphere of fat liberation (re‐framed as 'body positivity'), and in terms of imperatives for self‐care, which have been co‐opted by an emerging online wellness industry. I call to account the pervasiveness of neoliberal logics which are re‐shaping (post)feminism and re‐inscribing white supremacy onto bodies online and offline through 'disciplined whiteness'. This paper makes a novel intervention in political geography by offering methodological reflections on contemporary radio and podcast listenership. It begins from the starting point that radio and podcasts are important and popular sites of geographical knowledge production with the power to shape how audiences understand, imagine and engage in the world. The paper heeds calls in critical and popular geopolitics to move away from the site of representation towards audience reception and presents the 'playlist‐diary' method as an innovative way of exploring listener responses to BBC radio journalism on migration. This method is then used as a springboard to think more broadly about everyday encounters with radio and podcasts. It argues that situating audience engagements within specific spatialities and temporalities, and considering the digital technologies and platforms though which audio is discovered, consumed and circulated, is critical to developing a nuanced understanding of radio and podcast geopolitics. This discussion reflects growing interest in materialities, networks and assemblages of popular geopolitics and points to a blurring of visual and aural media. Overall, the paper makes the case for amplifying methodologies of listening in political geography and aims to be a catalyst to future scholarship on radio and podcasts. Agency, or the capacity to take intentional actions, is considered one of the primary affordances of virtual reality (VR) for learning. VR is expected to increase learners' agency because it allows for full‐body interactivity from a first‐person perspective, giving them novel ways of interacting with the digital environment. Yet, agency in immersive learning has not been well‐studied relative to other affordances like presence, and more evidence is needed to understand how varied media and designs heighten or diminish agency. This mixed‐method study addressed this need by developing and validating measures of sense of agency with 30 high school students who used VR field trips in their engineering class over four lessons. By comparing immersive videos to video game‐like interactive graphical environments, the study illustrates some of the complexities of agency in VR. The findings indicate agency is not a unidimensional construct nor is it equivalent to full‐body interactivity in VR as learners felt some types of agency when using immersive videos. Furthermore, learners' identities moderated associations between the type of VR media and their sense of agency, and agency did not change over time as the novelty of VR waned. These results suggest VR designers should consider varied ways of interacting in VR that are beneficial for learning. They also support the use of immersive videos when the educator's goal is to increase agency over learning or focus, and provide measures and direction for future research to assess the relationship between varied types of agency, features of VR experiences and learning outcomes.
