Background: The clinical effects of smartphone‐based interventions for bipolar disorder (BD) have yet to be established. Objectives: To examine the efficacy of smartphone‐based interventions in BD and how the included studies reported user‐engagement indicators. Methods: We conducted a systematic search on January 24, 2022, in PubMed, Scopus, Embase, APA PsycINFO, and Web of Science. We used random‐effects meta‐analysis to calculate the standardized difference (Hedges' g) in pre‐post change scores between smartphone intervention and control conditions. The study was pre‐registered with PROSPERO (CRD42021226668). Results: The literature search identified 6034 studies. Thirteen articles fulfilled the selection criteria. We included seven RCTs and performed meta‐analyses comparing the pre‐post change in depressive and (hypo)manic symptom severity, functioning, quality of life, and perceived stress between smartphone interventions and control conditions. There was significant heterogeneity among studies and no meta‐analysis reached statistical significance. Results were also inconclusive regarding affective relapses and psychiatric readmissions. All studies reported positive user‐engagement indicators. Conclusion: We did not find evidence to support that smartphone interventions may reduce the severity of depressive or manic symptoms in BD. The high heterogeneity of studies supports the need for expert consensus to establish ideally how studies should be designed and the use of more sensitive outcomes, such as affective relapses and psychiatric hospitalizations, as well as the quantification of mood instability. Background: Depression is prevalent across the spectrum of Chronic Kidney Disease and associated with poorer outcomes. There is limited evidence regarding the most effective interventions and care pathways for depression in Chronic Kidney Disease. Objectives: To investigate how depression is identified and managed in adults with Chronic Kidney Disease. Design: Scoping review. Methods: Systematic search of eight databases with pre‐defined inclusion criteria. Data relevant to the identification and/or management of depression in adults with Chronic Kidney Disease were extracted. Results: Of 2147 articles identified, 860 were included. Depression was most identified using self‐report screening tools (n = 716 studies, 85.3%), with versions of the Beck Depression Inventory (n = 283, 33.7%) being the most common. A total of 123 studies included data on the management of depression, with nonpharmacological interventions being more frequently studied (n = 55, 45%). Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (n = 15) was the most common nonpharmacological intervention, which was found to have a significant effect on depressive symptoms compared to controls (n = 10). However, how such approaches could be implemented as part of routine care was not clear. There was limited evidence for antidepressants use in people with Chronic Kidney Disease albeit in a limited number of studies. Conclusions: Depression is commonly identified using validated screening tools albeit differences exist in reporting practices. Evidence regarding the management of depression is mixed and requires better‐quality trials of both pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches. Understanding which clinical care pathways are used and their evidence, may help facilitate the development of kidney care specific guidelines for the identification and management of depression. Winnicott's unique contributions to a psychoanalytic theory of depression are not as familiar as Freud and Klein's writings. I concentrate on six areas: depression as a developmental achievement which denotes unit status; the role of destruction which arises from love (as opposed to hate which for Winnicott is a more mature affect); the importance of contributing‐in and the response of the (m)other in recovery from depression; the startling idea that the patient seeks out the analyst's depression; some thoughts on the differences between Winnicott and Freud and Klein; and lastly, the effect of depression on the development of self, creativity and the capacity to play. Family caregiving for those who suffer from Alzheimer's disease is an important but understudied area in Italian nursing. Population ageing and the existing burden of care for family caregivers indicate that there will be enormous pressure on families in the future to provide adequate and culturally appropriate care. This study attempted to redress this situation by examining anxiety and depression among 34 female Italian Alzheimer's caregivers over a total of 816 caregiving days. A descriptive, repeated measures design was used, using three instruments to survey caregiving: a General Questionnaire about Caregiving, the Spielberg State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and the Geriatric Depression Scale. Findings indicated that caregivers suffered high levels of anxiety (76%) and depression (42%). Statistical analyses showed that the anxiety and depression scores were positively correlated with hours of care, physical and psychological illness scores, and negatively correlated with level of education and time for leisure activities. However, no significant correlations were found with the Mini Mental State Examination scores, demonstrating that the burden of care is large, irrespective of the extent of mental impairment. Implications of the findings suggest that support and assistance given to Italian caregivers might be inadequate, particularly with respect to respite services and educational support. The differences between somatic psychiatrists and mental hygienists, already apparent earlier, became much more pronounced during the Depression years, partly as a consequence of their different perspectives on this social crisis. Somatic psychiatrists, emboldened by the apparent success of new medical treatment methods, reasserted the central position of the mental hospital within psychiatry, attempted to improve the discipline's position within medicine, and promoted basic research. Mental hygienists, following the ideal of prevention, proposed far-reaching programs of community mental hygiene to alleviate widespread mental distress. The primary objective of the present study was to assess the utility of (1) comorbid depression and (2) parasympathetic influence on cardiac function as markers for treatment response among aggressive preadolescent males. Inpatient records of 53 patients with conduct disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (17 with a comorbid depressive disorder) were examined, including an intake electrocardiogram and daily tallies of several indices of aggressive behavior across 3 weeks of stay. The relations of comorbid depression, heart rate variability, and residualized heart rate (primarily of sympathetic origin) to treatment response were assessed through analyses of linear growth functions. Significant vagal tone by diagnostic status interactions were obtained for both frequency and duration indices of aggression, whereby nondepressed patients with high vagal tone deteriorated and depressed patients with high vagal tone improved during hospitalization. No such relation was found for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder symptoms. Patients in the comorbid group also exhibited greater heart rate variability than their nondepressed counterparts. Furthermore, residualized heart rate was predictive of maternal substance use and paternal incarcerations. These findings suggest complex relations among treatment response, comorbid depression, and emotion regulation in male preadolescents with severe behavior disorders. Additionally, the differential prediction afforded by vagal tone and residualized heart rate underscores the importance of assessing both parasympathetic and sympathetic indices of cardiac function as distinct physiological markers. Background: The under‐detection of depression in adolescents suggests that a better understanding of its presentation may be needed. Conceptualizations of adolescent depression are largely the same as adult depression, with minimal consideration of developmental stage. Exploration of first‐hand accounts could help to identify any unique features of adolescent depression. Therefore, this systematic review aimed to understand the lived experience of adolescents with depression to inform clinical practice. Methods: The review was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42020198141). Databases (PsychINFO, CINAL, MEDLINE and EMBASE) were searched in March 2022 to identify peer‐reviewed qualitative studies on first‐hand experiences of adolescent depression. The Joanna Briggs Institute's qualitative data extraction tool and checklist for qualitative research were used to obtain study data and assess methodological quality of included papers. Meta‐aggregation was the method of synthesis, whereby extracted themes from the papers were grouped according to shared meanings. Results: Fifteen papers of mixed methodological quality were identified for inclusion from screening a total of 1,983 references. Studies were published between 2002 and 2021, spanned seven countries and included participants aged 11 to 22 years old. Aggregation of 56 themes resulted in 16 categories and 3 synthesized findings encompassing key aspects of adolescent depression: causes, symptoms and coping. Variability in adolescents' perspectives across these domains was evident. Some symptoms described, such as social disconnection and anger, are not listed in existing diagnostic criteria. Conclusions: Subjective experiences of depression among adolescents vary and may not entirely match diagnostic criteria. This single-case study evaluated the effects of two levels of center-based behavioral intervention for a young child with diagnoses of autism, severe attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, and severe developmental delay. The child entered an applied behavior analysis school and residential program at age 4 years. At that time he was receiving fluoxetine and valproic acid for control of challenging behavior. Six other medication trials had been attempted previously. Assessments completed just before the child entered the behavioral program estimated his overall functioning at the 8–16 month level. Throughout the study, the child participated in comprehensive behavioral programming for about 30 hours per week. For the first (A) phase of the study, the teacher:student ratio was 1:1. This phase lasted 12 months. At that point resource limitations necessitated changing the teacher:student ratio to 1:2 (the B Phase), which continued for 9 months. Then 1:1 intervention was reinstated. Dependent variables included out-of-seat behavior, aberrant behavior, motor imitation, stereotypic responses, matching to sample, and appropriate communication (recognizable signs and pictures used as mands). By the end of the first A phase (1:1 intervention), substantial improvements were documented in five of six dependent variables, and fluoxetine was discontinued. These improvements were maintained for all dependent variables three months into the B phase, but after an additional six months of 1:2 intervention gains were maintained on only one dependent variable. Nine months after a return to 1:1 intervention, improvements over B-phase levels were evident for five dependent variables, four of which returned to levels comparable to those at the end of the first 1:1 phase. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. The article presents views and insights of the author concerning the Sixth International Conference on bipolar disorder (BD). Concerns about the underrecognition of BD, and its misdiagnosis as unipolar depression, have prompted growing interest in broader epidemiologic screening for probable cases of bipolar illness. Information about the phenomena related to BD in adolescence is also discussed.

This integrative review aimed to identify and synthesize evidence on workplace stress and resilience in the Australian nursing workforce. A search of the published literature was conducted using EMBASE, MEDLINE, CINAHL (EBSCO), PsycINFO, Web of Science, and Scopus. The search was limited to papers published in English from January 2008 to December 2018. The review integrated both qualitative and quantitative data into a single synthesis. Of the 41 papers that met the inclusion criteria, 65.85% (27/41) used quantitative data, 29.26% (12/41) used qualitative data, and 4.87% (2/41) used mixed methods. About 48.78% (20/41) of the papers addressed resilience issues, 46.34% (19/41) addressed workplace stress, and 4.87% (2/41) addressed both workplace stress and resilience. The synthesis indicated that nurses experience moderate to high levels of stress. Several individual attributes and organizational resources are employed by nurses to manage workplace adversity. The individual attributes include the use of work–life balance and organizing work as a mindful strategy, as well as self‐reliance, passion and interest, positive thinking, and emotional intelligence as self‐efficacy mechanisms. The organizational resources used to build resilience are support services (both formal and informal), leadership, and role modelling. The empirical studies on resilience largely address individual attributes and organizational resources used to build resilience, with relatively few studies focusing on workplace interventions. Our review recommends that research attention be devoted to educational interventions to achieve sustainable improvements in the mental health and wellbeing of nurses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Scars are fibrous tissues that replace normal tissue during the wound healing process. Scarring can lead to low self‐esteem, social impairment, depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric and psychological distress, necessitating a comprehensive understanding of the latest perspectives, topical research, and directions in scarring‐mental health. This is a biblioshiny and VOSviewer based bibliometric analysis study. All data were obtained from the Web of Science, and a total of 664 articles from 2003 to 2022 met the criteria. The last 7 years have been a period of rapid growth in the field, with 2022 having the highest number of articles. The United States is the core country with the highest production and citation rate. The most cited literature was written in 2003 by Van Loey NE et al. Van Loey NE is the most prolific and influential author in this field. The top five popular keywords include "quality of life", "depression", "management", "anxiety", and "prevalence". The paper concludes that the current focus of scholars in the field is on the treatment of scars and that multidisciplinary treatment of such patients is worth exploring. Purpose Although tablet computers offer advantages in data collection over traditional paper-and-pencil methods, little research has examined whether the 2 formats yield similar responses, especially with underserved populations. We compared the 2 survey formats and tested whether participants' responses to common health questionnaires or perceptions of usability differed by survey format. We also tested whether we could replicate established paper-and-pencil findings via tablet computer. Methods We recruited a sample of low-income community members living in the rural southern United States. Participants were 170 residents (black = 49%; white = 36%; other races and missing data = 15%) drawn from 2 counties meeting Florida's state statutory definition of rural with 100 persons or fewer per square mile. We randomly assigned participants to complete scales (Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Inventory and Regulatory Focus Questionnaire) along with survey format usability ratings via paper-and-pencil or tablet computer. All participants rated a series of previously validated posters using a tablet computer. Finally, participants completed comparisons of the survey formats and reported survey format preferences. Findings Participants preferred using the tablet computer and showed no significant differences between formats in mean responses, scale reliabilities, or in participants' usability ratings. Conclusions Overall, participants reported similar scales responses and usability ratings between formats. However, participants reported both preferring and enjoying responding via tablet computer more. Collectively, these findings are among the first data to show that tablet computers represent a suitable substitute among an underrepresented rural sample for paper-and-pencil methodology in survey research. Functional near‐infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a noninvasive optical brain‐imaging technique that detects changes in hemoglobin concentration in the cerebral cortex. fNIRS devices are safe, silent, portable, robust against motion artifacts, and have good temporal resolution. fNIRS is reliable and trustworthy, as well as an alternative and a complement to other brain‐imaging modalities, such as electroencephalography or functional magnetic resonance imaging. Given these advantages, fNIRS has become a well‐established tool for neuroscience research, used not only for healthy cortical activity but also as a biomarker during clinical assessment in individuals with schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disease, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and cancer screening. Owing to its wide applicability, studies on fNIRS have increased exponentially over the last two decades. In this study, scientific publications indexed in the Web of Science databases were collected and a bibliometric‐type methodology was developed. For this purpose, a comprehensive science mapping analysis, including top‐ranked authors, journals, institutions, countries, and co‐occurring keywords network, was conducted. From a total of 2310 eligible documents, 6028 authors and 531 journals published fNIRS‐related papers, Fallgatter published the highest number of articles and was the most cited author. University of Tübingen in Germany has produced the most trending papers since 2000. USA was the most prolific country with the most active institutions, followed by China, Japan, Germany, and South Korea. Three papers in the December issue (2023) of JCPP Advances focus on children of parents with depression or anxiety. They highlight the value of using prospective longitudinal data to improve the understanding about the development of children of parents with depression or anxiety from early childhood to young adulthood. Objective: This research investigates associations between living arrangements and older adults' depressive symptoms and whether these associations are moderated by extended family, friends, and neighborhoods for White, Black, and Hispanic older adults. Background: The drastic marriage and kinship decline since the 1970s has raised growing concerns about aging alone in both the public and scholarship. This paper adopts critical race theory to examine the social convoy model which argues that distant networks will fill in to protect individuals from stressors in the absence of proximal relations. Methods: This paper applies multilevel mixed‐effects linear models to 2006–2018 waves of Health and Retirement Study (N = 44,304 obs., with 32,599 White, 7028 Black, and 4677 Hispanics). Results: While married couples living alone have the best mental health among Whites, co‐residing with both spouses/partners and children (the intergenerational coresidence) is associated with the lowest depressive symptoms for Black and Hispanic older adults. Moreover, strong social support from extended family and friends and a high level of neighborhood social cohesion can significantly mitigate increased depressive symptoms associated with living alone or with others only (people other than spouses/partners and children) for Whites, but not for Blacks and Hispanics. Conclusion: This research challenges the paradigm that considers "married couples living alone" as a normalized family structure. It also emphasizes the "double plight" of Black and Hispanic older adults, who show both a disproportionate decline in family ties and a lack of supportive distant relations serving as buffer zones in the absence of spouses and children. This paper aimed to find clues to treatment‐resistant depression (TRD) solutions. Depression comorbid with anxiety is often treatment‐resistant where anxious‐depressive attack (ADA) often lurks. ADA is a recently proposed clinical idea for just a psychological version of a panic attack. It mostly begins with an abrupt surge of intense anxiety followed by uninterrupted intrusive thoughts; lasting ruminations about regret or worry produced by violent anxiety, agitation, and loneliness. Acting‐out behaviors such as deliberate self‐injury and over‐dose may also be observed during the attack. As the basic psychopathology of ADA, rejection sensitivity (RS) was revealed by a structural equation model. It is said that the presence of RS in depressive disorders implies a poor prognosis. The following biological markers for RS were reviewed in the literature: first, the involvement of the μ‐opioid receptor function in RS and, secondly, hypersensitivity of the dopamine D4 receptor (DRD4) in the medial prefrontal cortex. The latter has been suggested in fear‐conditioned animal experiments. Manipulation of the μ‐opioid receptor function together with the DRD4 function may culminate in a treatment for RS, which could contribute to the development of a treatment for TRD via the improvement of ADA. Mental health problems amongst university students pose a major public health challenge, and this is particularly the case in Pakistan. Alongside broader societal and cultural pressures, cognitive factors likely also play a role in the development of and resilience to mental health problems and may provide a feasible target for interventions. The current study built on previous research in primarily European samples investigating the relationship between one cognitive factor, positive future‐oriented mental imagery, and mental health, extending this to a sample of university students in Pakistan (N = 1838). In a cross‐sectional design, higher vividness of positive future‐oriented mental imagery was associated with lower levels of depressive symptoms and higher levels of positive mental health amongst participants completing questionnaire measures on paper (N = 1430) or online (N = 408). In the sample completing the measures on paper, these relationships remained statistically significant even when controlling for socio‐demographic and mental health‐related variables. The results provide a foundation for further investigating positive mental imagery as a potential mechanism of mental health and intervention target amongst university students in Pakistan. Background: People with post‐stroke aphasia tend to have smaller social networks, a higher risk of depression and poorer health‐related quality of life than those who do not have aphasia after stroke. Stroke‐specific or general rehabilitation programmes offered by community‐based organizations are commonly group‐based and involve discussions among group members with or without stroke. Research has shown that people with post‐stroke aphasia may be unable to participate fully in verbal sharing of experiences and exchange of thoughts. Aims: To explore the experiences of people with post‐stroke aphasia in relation to participating in group‐based rehabilitation programmes organized by community‐based organizations. Methods & Procedures: A qualitative design was adopted, including individual, semi‐structured interviews with 20 adults with post‐stroke aphasia recruited from community‐based rehabilitation centres and support groups. The participants had a mean age of 68.86 ± 13.54 years and a mean post‐stroke duration of 9.24 ± 7.72 years. They had participated in at least one group‐based rehabilitation programme organized by community‐based organizations in the past year. The participants were asked about their experiences of attending group‐based programme(s), thoughts and feelings while interacting with the facilitators and group members, and satisfaction with their participation. The interview data were thematically analysed. Outcomes & Results: Three themes were identified: (1) hurdles to active and fulfilling participation including the dominance of verbal sharing, short duration of the programme, being a minority in the group and accumulated negative experiences; (2) strategies adopted to improve participation including accepting a reduced speaking ability, having support from caregivers, and trying mobile apps to vocalize and supplement meanings; and (3) a preference for certain group conditions including receiving invitations by staff with whom they were familiar, groups that are led by experienced facilitators, a large or small group, the dominance of non‐verbal activities, and inclusion of only people with post‐stroke aphasia. Conclusions & Implications: The findings showed that people with post‐stroke aphasia experience difficulties participating more actively in group‐based rehabilitation programmes due to hurdles in terms of the structure and format of the programmes and accumulation of negative experiences. Facilitating positive group experiences for these people with innovative methods, such as using technology and providing professional and standby support, would be helpful. Longer sessions with smaller groups, exclusively including people with post‐stroke aphasia and involving more non‐verbal activities to help them express feelings, are suggested to optimize the benefits they derive from these group‐based programmes. What this paper adds to existing knowledge: This study explored the experiences of people with post‐stroke aphasia in relation to participating in group‐based rehabilitation programmes not specifically designed for people with stroke‐induced aphasia organized by community‐based organizations. The findings provide an insight into how these people participate in groups, their thoughts and feelings during interactions with the facilitators and group members, their satisfaction with their level of participation, and the characteristics of the groups they prefer to join. What are the potential or actual clinical implications of this work?: People with post‐stroke aphasia experience difficulties participating more actively in group‐based programmes due to hurdles in terms of the structure and format of the group‐based programmes and accumulation of negative experiences contributing to decreased motivation to participating in groups. More positive group experiences can be fostered by adopting longer sessions with smaller groups that exclusively include people with post‐stroke aphasia and involve more non‐verbal activities to help them express their feelings. Communication partner training for facilitators and the use of technology to support communication are suggested to promote active and fulfilling participation of the people with aphasia in group‐based programmes. This paper investigates the impact of job control and work‐related loneliness on employee work behaviors and well‐being during the massive and abrupt move to remote work amid the COVID‐19 pandemic. We draw on job‐demands control and social baseline theory to link employee perceived job control and work‐related loneliness to emotional exhaustion and work‐life balance and posit direct and indirect effects on employee minor counterproductive work behaviors, depression, and insomnia. Using a two‐wave data collection with a sample of U.S. working adults to test our predictions, we find that high job control was beneficially related to emotional exhaustion and work‐life balance, while high work‐related loneliness showed detrimental relationships with our variables of interest. Moreover, we find that the beneficial impact of high perceived job control was conditional on individual segmentation preferences such that the effects were stronger when segmentation preference was low. Our research extends the literature on remote work, job control, and workplace loneliness. It also provides insights for human resource professionals to manage widespread remote work that is likely to persist long after the COVID‐19 pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Summary: Background: Several studies have described high levels of psychosocial disorders in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD), but an estimate of their prevalence in populations of TMD patients has never been assessed systematically. Objective: To conduct a systematic review of the literature on the prevalence of research diagnostic criteria for TMD (RDC/TMD) Axis II findings in TMD patients. Methods: Search for articles was carried out by two independent researchers to retrieve papers published after 1992. Inclusion was reserved to observational studies with a minimum sample size of 100 individuals, which used RDC/TMD diagnostic protocol. Quality assessment was performed with the adoption of the methodological evaluation of observational research (MORE). Results: A total of 1186 citations were obtained from search strategy, but only 14 filled the inclusion criteria. Included papers reported somatisation, depression and/or pain‐related disability prevalence or scores from populations of 12 different countries. A broad range in the prevalence of moderate‐to‐severe somatisation in patients with TMD was observed, ranging from 28.5% to 76.6%. Similar results were found for depression, with moderate‐to‐severe levels in 21.4%‐60.1% of patients. Finally, most patients were rated as grade I or II of the Graded Chronic Pain Scale, whereas high pain‐related impairment was present in 2.6% to 24% of the individuals. Background The incidence of cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation continues to increase worldwide largely due to greater awareness of the symptoms of cardiac events and increased attention to cardiopulmonary resuscitation training in the community. Globally, predicted survival rates after cardiopulmonary resuscitation have remained at 10% for decades and although patient outcome remains unpredictable, there is a positive trend in life expectancy. For a resuscitation attempt to be classed as successful, not only survival but also quality of life has to be evaluated. Aim The aim of this review was to examine literature that explores the quality of life ( QOL) for survivors' after CPR and the influence cognitive impairment, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder ( PTSD) has had on their QOL. Review methods This review follows Whittemore and Knafl's framework for an integrative literature review. Electronic databases EBSCO, Ovid, PubMed and EMBASE were searched. After application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, thirty-six papers published from January 2000 to June 2015 were included in this review. Results These papers represent a broad spectrum of research evaluating quality of life for survivors of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The heterogeneous research methods and vast number of different research tools make it challenging to compare the findings. The majority of papers concluded that quality of life for survivors of cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was generally acceptable. However, studies also described survivors' experience of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress and cognitive dysfunction. Conclusion A majority of papers reported an acceptable quality of life if the patient survived to hospital discharge. The heterogeneity in quantitative papers was noticeable and indicates a marked variance in patient outcomes. This review highlights the absence of specialized tools used to investigate survivors' experience of the event. This study focussed on evaluating the status of recent research on medical decision‐making for adolescents with depression and identifying research hotspots and frontiers via CiteSpace. We extracted studies that were concerned with medical decision‐making for adolescents with depression from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), covering the period from 1 January 1999 to 20 September 2022. We used CiteSpace to generate online maps of worldwide cooperation among countries, institutions, and authors. Hotspots and frontiers were systematically summarized. A total of 368 papers related to medical decision‐making for adolescents with depression were obtained from WoSCC. The most prolific author was Nick Midgley (seven papers). The United States and University College London were the leading country and institution in this research area, with 177 and 17 papers, respectively. Countries, institutions, and authors all actively collaborated. Main recent research trends include the preference or attitude towards medical treatment in adolescents with depression; approaches for adolescents with depression to seeking medical help; and the key role of parent, family, and primary care in medical decision‐making for adolescents. Thus, further attention should be paid to determining how to promote the role of parents, families, and primary care in the decision‐making process and create appropriate online help‐seeking tools and decision aids to facilitate shared decision‐making in the future. Introduction: In spite of the recent increase in scientific publications showing an expressive interest in studies about social support, there are still scarce publications regarding this thematic and bipolar disorder, mostly when evaluating the individuals in the state of euthymia. Euthymia referred a state that a bipolar patient does not have signs/symptoms of (hipo)mania or depression, thus assessing individuals in this state may reduce response bias. Objective: The objective of this study is to identify the impact of social support on bipolar disorder in patients in the euthymic phase. Methods: A systematic search of observational studies on PubMed/Medline, PsycINFO, EMBASE, Scopus and Web of Science databases was performed from February 2021 to August 2022. Results: In total, seven studies fulfilled the eligibility criteria. According to three studies, bipolar disorder patients had lower social support than healthy controls. Contrastingly, one study showed bipolar patients did not have different social support compared to healthy controls. Conclusions: Even though few papers with low or middle risk of bias were included in this review, we found that not only does social support could act as a protective factor for bipolar patients but also that clinical manifestations of the disorder seem to affect social support. This systematic review suggests the narrowed evidence field with different measures and type of evaluation from studies on social support and bipolar disorder, which highlights the need for further investigations on this theme. This perspective paper explores the choice of psychotherapy for psilocybin‐assisted psychotherapy for treatment‐resistant depression. There is evidence to support the use of some psychotherapies in treating 'treatment‐resistant' depression, and emerging evidence for the efficacy of psilocybin. The next step which is the focus of this paper is to identify psychotherapies that are both effective and congruent with the psilocybin experience. The evidence for the efficacy of the psychotherapies is drawn from a Cochrane review and the analysis of their congruence with the psilocybin experience is drawn from a qualitative meta‐synthesis of the experience of psilocybin. The paper will examine whether three one‐to‐one psychotherapies identified as effective in the treatment of treatment‐resistant depression are compatible with the psilocybin experience. Each psychotherapy will be examined in relation to its congruence with the qualitative evidence that suggests the choice of psychotherapy needs to give priority to the subjective experience, facilitate emotional processing, support connectedness with others, acceptance of the self as emotional and support change based on the person's insights into their relationships with others and the world in which they live. We conclude that interpersonal psychotherapy and intensive short‐term dynamic psychotherapy align with that experience, although others are currently being trialled. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) can have severe impacts on function and quality of life. Up to one third of patients will have an inadequate response to their first line of treatment, with subsequent lines of therapy associated with lower remission rates and higher relapse rates. Recently esketamine has become available for Australian patients, and this agent provides an additional treatment option for those with MDD who have had an inadequate response to two or more antidepressant therapies during the current moderate to severe depressive episode. This paper provides an expert panel's practical recommendations and clinical guidance for establishing esketamine clinics in Australia. Methods: An expert panel (n = 11) comprising psychiatrists, mental health care nurses, pharmacists, and individuals with experience establishing esketamine clinics was convened in Sydney. The panel developed practical recommendations and clinical guidance, which were then further refined. Results: Five key areas were identified: practical considerations for esketamine clinic set‐up, including multidisciplinary care considerations; patient selection; administering esketamine; adverse event management and long‐term follow‐up. Conclusions: Guidance presented in this paper should assist Australian clinicians to set up an esketamine clinic, and provide practical advice on the infrastructure and clinical requirements for treatment of patients with this agent. Abstract: Background: Although high rates of depression symptoms are reported in adults with intellectual disabilities (IDs), there is a lack of knowledge about non‐pharmacological treatment options for depression in this population. The first research question of this paper is: Which non‐pharmacological interventions have been studied in adults with ID and depression? The second research question is: What were the results of these non‐pharmacological interventions? Method: Systematic review of the literature with an electronic search in six databases has been completed with hand searches. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐analyses guidelines have been followed. Selected studies met predefined inclusion criteria. Results: Literature search resulted in 4267 papers of which 15 met the inclusion criteria. Five different types of non‐pharmacological interventions have been studied: cognitive behavioural therapy, behavioural therapy, exercise intervention, social problem‐solving skills programme and bright light therapy. Conclusion: There are only a few studies of good quality evaluating non‐pharmacological interventions for adults with ID and depression. Some of these studies, especially studies on cognitive behavioural therapy, show good results in decreasing depressive symptoms. Abstract: This paper analyzes the reasons for differences in the estimated effect of retirement on health in previous studies. We investigate these differences by focusing on the analysis methods used by these studies. Using various health indexes, numerous researchers have examined the effects of retirement on health. However, there are no unified views on the impact of retirement on various health indexes. Consequently, we show that the choice of analysis method is one of the key factors in explaining why the estimated results of the effect of retirement on health differ. Moreover, we re‐estimate the effect of retirement on health by using a fixed analysis method controlling for individual heterogeneity and endogeneity of the retirement behavior. We analyze the effect of retirement on health parameters, such as cognitive function, self‐report of health, activities of daily living (ADL), depression, and body mass index in eight countries. Objective: Reward‐related processes have been posited as key mechanisms underlying the onset and persistence of eating disorders, prompting a growing body of research in this area. Existing studies have primarily utilized self‐report, behavioral, and functional magnetic resonance imaging measures to interrogate reward among individuals with eating disorders. However, limitations inherent in each of these methods (e.g., poor temporal resolution) may obscure distinct neurocognitive reward processes, potentially contributing to underdeveloped models of reward dysfunction within eating disorders. The temporal precision of event‐related potentials (ERPs), derived from electroencephalography, may thus offer a powerful complementary tool for elucidating the neurocognitive underpinnings of reward. Indeed, a considerable amount of research in other domains of psychopathology (e.g., depression, substance use disorders), as well as studies investigating food reward among non‐clinical samples, highlights the utility of ERPs for probing reward processes. However, no study to date has utilized ERPs to directly examine reward functioning in eating disorders. Methods: In this paper, we review evidence underscoring the clinical utility of ERP measures of reward, as well as a variety of reward‐related tasks that can be used to elicit specific ERP components with demonstrated relevance to reward processing. We then consider the ways in which these tasks/components may be used to help answer a variety of open questions within the eating disorders literature on reward. Results/Discussion: Given the promise of ERP measures of reward to the field of eating disorders, we ultimately hope to spur and guide research in this currently neglected area. Public Significance: Abnormalities in reward functioning appear to contribute to eating disorders. Event‐related potentials (ERPs) offer temporally precise measures of neurocognitive reward processing and thus may be important tools for understanding the relationship between reward and disordered eating. However, research in this area is currently lacking. Adolescent health research with biomarker data collection is limited due to difficulties in recruiting and engaging this age group. Thus, successful recruitment, engagement, and retention of adolescents in translational research are necessary to elucidate factors influencing mental and physical health conditions, uncover novel biomarkers, and expand prevention and treatment options. This paper describes strategies for effective recruitment and retention of adolescents in a research study, using a project examining depressive symptoms and the microbiome to illustrate these approaches. This cross‐sectional study collected electronic self‐reported survey data and self‐collected biospecimens (stool and salivary samples) from adolescents 13–19 years old. All but two participants completed the questionnaires, with few missing responses. 94% provided at least one salivary sample and 89% supplied a stool sample. Participants were able to adhere to the study instructions. Using a participant‐centered approach, our study successfully recruited and engaged the targeted 90 participants in self‐collection of electronic survey data and biospecimens. Successful strategies of recruitment and retention included: 1) on‐site clinic recruitment by research team, 2) active involvement of parents as appropriate, 3) use of electronic surveys and self‐collection of biospecimens to foster control and ease of participation while addressing privacy concerns, 4) noninvasive collection of data on biospecimen, 5) frequent texting to communicate with participants, 6) flexibility in the pickup and transferring of biospecimens to accommodate adolescent schedules, 7) developmentally appropriate research, 8) participant reimbursement, and 9) sensitivity toward discussing stool sample materials. ABSTRACT Waves of psychological research over 50 years have resulted in the development of scales to measure psychological resilience. Multiple psychological resilience definitions and factors have emerged during this time, making its measurement complex. The overall aim of the review was to identify and describe developments in the measurement of psychological resilience in the clinical mental healthcare setting. Specific objectives included (1) consideration of the validity and reliability of psychological resilience scales, (2) the effectiveness of the scales in clinical mental healthcare settings and (3) to identify the scope that resilience factors are addressed in the included scales. It provides a timely update regarding psychological resilience measurement tools and considers further developments that may be required. Between 2011 and 2024, databases were searched, and English‐language, peer‐reviewed papers with full text were extracted. Eligible studies were those reporting validated existing resilience measures or the outcomes of new measures for use in clinical mental healthcare settings. Seventeen studies met the inclusion criteria. The review demonstrated that psychological resilience measures require further development, particularly focusing on the utility of measurement tools in clinical mental healthcare settings. In this review, we highlight an existing gap in resilience measurement and underscore the need for a new measure of psychological resilience that can effectively assess individuals' subjective experience of their psychological resilience in clinical mental healthcare settings. The currently available psychological resilience measures included in this review do not directly reflect all the factors that might impact a client's depression or anxiety and warrant further research. Background: Breathing practices are increasingly being utilised in therapeutic interventions for mental health problems, including depression. One of the challenges of evaluating the impact of breathing exercises on the treatment of depression is the variability in the type of exercises used. Aims: To bring greater clarity in this area, this scoping review aimed to identify, categorise and synthesise breathing interventions that have been evaluated for depression, in order to inform further research and reviews. Method: A thematic synthesis approach was used to analyse the descriptions of breathing interventions in order to categorise these via their common features. Results: Thirty papers were included in the final synthesis. Main themes developed from thematic synthesis were related to procedural aspects of breathing interventions, namely: attention and awareness, using the body and senses, and paced breathing. Phonetic data are used in several ways outside of the core field of phonetics. This paper offers the perspective of one such field, sociophonetics, towards another, the study of acoustic cues to clinical depression. While sociophonetics is interested in how, when, and why phonetic variables cue information about the world, the study of acoustic cues to depression is focused on how phonetic variables can be used by medical professionals as tools to diagnosis. The latter is only interested in identifying phonetic cues to depression, while the former is interested in how phonetic variation cues anything at all. While the two fields fundamentally differ with respect to ontology, epistemology, and methodology, I argue that there are, nonetheless, possible avenues for future engagement, collaboration, and investigation. Objectives: Problem adaptation therapy (PATH) is a relatively new psychotherapy that recognises the importance of simultaneously targeting cognitive impairment and functional disability in the treatment of late‐life depression. This is the first systematic review to examine the effectiveness of PATH. Methods: Ageline, Embase, Medline, PsycINFO, Scopus and ProQuest databases were searched from 2010 until 5 April 2024, for studies that evaluated PATH for older people. Where possible, effect sizes (Hedges' g) with 95% confidence intervals and p values were calculated and pooled using a random effects model. The reporting quality of included studies was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal tools and certainty of the evidence behind each result assessed with The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation method. Results: Twelve papers, from seven independent studies and a pooled sample of 579 older adults with multiple comorbidities, were included in this review. PATH participants experienced immediate reductions in depression symptom ratings (gw = 0.72, p < 0.01, Nstudies = 5), alongside small improvements in disability (gw = 0.61, p = 0.04, Nstudies = 4) compared to peers that received supportive therapy, brief psychoeducation, or usual care. The overall evidence quality was, however, characterised by bias, inconsistency, and imprecision in effect estimates. Positive participant feedback and low dropout rates (15%–31%) suggested treatment satisfaction, although these data were not routinely provided. Conclusions: PATH may be a viable treatment for older people living with mental and cognitive disorders, however there is a need for more rigorous research incorporating follow‐up assessments to consolidate the effectiveness of PATH relative to other treatments. Incorporating measures of treatment fidelity are also critical to interpreting and generalising these data. Since the start of the war in Ukraine, almost 8 million people left the country; more than 1 million of them relocated to Germany. It is to be expected that the war puts considerable strain on refugees, which will impact the public health system in host countries. This paper presents baseline data and protocol of longitudinal online experimental study of 619 Ukrainian refugees in Germany started in autumn 2022, focusing on participants' self‐reports of appetite, food intake, and levels of stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms to examine their associations. Results indicate that levels of stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms in refugees significantly exceed the indicators of relevant parameters as reported by independent large‐scale surveys conducted in Ukraine before the war as well as strong correlations between these deviations (.59 ≤ r ≤.69, p =.005). Changes in appetite were related to more severe psycho‐emotional deviations (.15 ≤ r ≤.19, p =.003) and somewhat unhealthier food intake (r = −.08, p <.001). The study underlines the need of psychological care for refugees to improve their mental health and counteract potential negative consequences for physical health via changes in food intake, for which suitable interventions need to be developed. Expressions of concern about the national future, or the surfacing of history through postcolonial melancholia and nostalgia for a lost Golden Age, illustrate how temporality and tense have been absorbed into discourses, affective attachments and practices of cultural recognition and national belonging. First, this paper aims to develop the discussion of urban multiculture in human geography in an original direction through a theoretically‐driven argument for the significance of social divisions of tense. It contributes new knowledge about the availability of this discursive field when the issue of cultural recognition arises. Second, through considering the relational dynamics between settler, Indigenous and exogenous peoples together, the paper ties together debate on migration and ethnicity with indigeneity and colonialism. Third, the paper emphasises the importance of careful attention to local histories, contexts and oppressions when researching conviviality and multiculture in a settler colonial context. The analysis draws on 12 months of qualitative research with first‐generation British migrants in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand to examine several illustrative encounters of British migrants with Māori, the Indigenous peoples, and exogenous alterity, a term used to refer to migrants and racialised citizens deemed "foreign." Introduction: Approximately 20% of people with a long‐term condition (LTC) experience depressive symptoms (subthreshold depression [SUBD]). People with SUBD experience depressive symptoms that do not meet the diagnostic criteria for major depressive disorder. However, there is currently no targeted psychological support for people with LTCs also experiencing SUBD. Online peer support is accessible, inexpensive and scalable, and might offer a way of bridging the gap in psychosocial care for LTC patients. This article explores the psychosocial needs of people living with LTCs and investigates their perspectives on online peer support interventions to inform their future design. Methods: Through a co‐produced participatory approach, online focus groups were completed with people with lived experience of LTCs. Focus groups were audio recorded and transcribed verbatim. Reflexive thematic analysis (TA) was conducted adopting a critical‐realist approach and an inductive analysis methodology that sought to follow participants' priorities and concerns. Results: Ten people with a range of LTCs participated across three online focus groups, lasting an average of 95 (±10.1) min. The mean age was 57 (±11.4) years and 60% of participants identified as female. The three key emerging themes were: (1) relationship between self and outside world; (2) past experiences of peer support; and (3) philosophy and vision of peer support. Adults living with LTCs shared their past experiences of peer support and explored their perspectives on how future online peer support platforms may support their psychosocial needs. Conclusion: Despite the negative impact(s) of having a long‐term physical health condition on mental health, physical and mental healthcare are often treated as separate entities. The need for an integrated approach for people with LTCs was clear. Implementation of online peer support to bridge this gap was supported, but there was a clear consensus that these interventions need to be co‐produced and carefully designed to ensure they feel safe and not commercialised or prescriptive. Shared explorations of the potential benefits and concerns of these online spaces can shape the philosophy and vision of future platforms. Patient or Public Contribution: This work is set within a wider project which is developing an online peer support platform for those living with LTCs. A participatory, co‐produced approach is integral to this work. The initial vision was steered by the experiences of our Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) groups, who emphasised the therapeutic value of peer‐to‐peer interaction. The focus groups confirmed the importance and potential benefit of this project. This paper represents the perspectives of PPI members who collaborate on research and public engagement at the mental–physical interface. A separate, independent Research Advisory Group (RAG), formed of members also living with LTCs, co‐produced study documents, topic guides, and informed key decision‐making processes. Finally, our co‐investigator with lived experience (E. A.F.) undertook the analysis and write‐up alongside colleagues, further strengthening the interpretation and resonance of our work. She shares first joint authorship, and as a core member of the research team, ensures that the conduct of the study is firmly grounded in the experience of people living with LTCs. Background: Depression is common among people with dementia. Despite most people with dementia living in the community, there have been few investigations of self‐reported depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation among community‐dwelling people with dementia in Australia. This study aimed to explore the proportion of people with mild, moderate and severe levels of depressive symptoms, and suicidal ideation among a sample of people living with dementia in Australia. Correlates of reporting depressive symptoms were also explored. Methods: Adults diagnosed with dementia by a medical professional who were English speaking and community‐dwelling were asked to complete a paper and pencil survey. Those who were unable to provide independent consent were excluded. Depression was assessed using the Geriatric Depression Scale −15, and suicidal ideation was assessed using two study‐specific items. Multivariable analyses examined quality of life, unmet needs and sociodemographic factors associated with having a score of five or more on the Geriatric Depression Scale‐15. Results: Ninety‐four people participated in the study. Thirty‐seven percent (n = 35) reported some level of depressive symptoms, with most of these (21%, n = 20) classified as having mild depressive symptoms. Five participants (5%) reported they had had thoughts of being better off dead or hurting themselves, while three (3%) reported having had a plan to end their life. For each additional unmet need, the odds of being depressed increased by 25%(P < 0.001). For each point increase in quality of life, the odds of being depressed decreased by 48% (P < 0.001). Conclusions: The high proportion of people with dementia who report depressive symptoms suggests the need to routinely assess depressive symptoms among this group. There may also be benefits in assessing unmet needs and addressing these where possible as part of an approach to reducing depression among people living with dementia in the community. Rationale: Veterans living with dementia in long‐term care have complex needs, with variable manifestation of symptoms of dementia that interact with their lived experience. Best practice dementia care prioritises nonpharmacological interventions; of which few have strong evidence. Implementation of evidence is complex, with evaluation of outcomes and processes necessary. Aims and Objectives: This paper details the evaluation of implementation, at veteran and organisational level, of the Weaving Evidence into Action for Veterans with Dementia (WEAVE) programme. Methods: A Type 2 hybrid effectiveness‐implementation design was used, underpinned by the Implementation Framework for Aged Care (IFAC). Programme intervention incorporated music therapy, exercise, reminiscence therapy and/or sensory modulation, offered over a 24‐week period. Evaluation components included: (1) programme effectiveness for veterans with dementia for responsive behaviour, physical wellbeing, cognitive status, emotional state, medications and falls (at baseline, 8‐week, 16‐week and 24‐week); and (2) implementation outcomes of reach and adoption, feasibility and acceptability, fidelity (via interviews) and a preliminary cost analysis. Results: Thirty‐eight veterans participated in the 24‐week programme, with high levels of engagement in interventions of their choice. Statistically significant improvements were seen across all veteran‐level outcome measures, for functional capacity and reduced neuro‐psychiatric and depressive symptoms. Ten staff members were interviewed, highlighting co‐designed core elements were feasible and acceptable, and the momentum generated by resident and staff enthusiasm. Cost analysis included costs of programme set‐up and running the 24‐week intervention. Conclusion: Key components of programme success were the therapeutic leaders, adherence to core elements of programme design, and veterans' choice in meaningful activity. Difficulties in emotion regulation have been consistently associated with various psychological difficulties, including anxiety and depression; however, less is known about the directionality of this relationship, particularly in adolescents. In addition, early parent–child attachment quality has been closely linked to the development of emotion regulation. Previous studies have proposed an overarching model in attempt to describe the developmental trajectory of anxiety and depression from early attachment, albeit with several limitations that are discussed in this paper. This study adds to this field of research by investigating the longitudinal associations between emotion dysregulation (ED) and symptoms of anxiety and depression among 534 early adolescents in Singapore over three timepoints in a school year, and the antecedent role of attachment quality on individual differences on these variables. Bidirectional influences were found between ED and anxiety and depression symptoms, respectively, between T1 and T2, but not T2 and T3, at the between‐ and within‐individual levels of analysis. Additionally, attachment anxiety and avoidance were both significantly predictive of individual differences in ED and for both psychological symptoms. The current findings provide preliminary evidence of a mutually reinforcing relationship between ED and symptoms of anxiety and depression in early adolescence, where attachment quality serves as a developmental antecedent that sets these longitudinal associations in motion. The intention of this paper is to explore how societal food choices may be affecting our clients' mentation and to discuss alternative drivers behind their feelings of anger, sadness and fear that potentially lead to fixed moods of anxiety and depression. The current perception of nutrition within psychotherapy is framed within lifestyle, self‐care enquiry and a rich, metaphorical use of digestive systems within the therapeutic process. Yet over the last two decades the synthesis of nutritional therapy with psychiatry has theorized a network of ideas under the umbrella title of 'nutritional psychiatry', which links positivist research to suggest poor diet and gut microbiome health are also factors behind the development of mental illnesses. The differing epistemological positions in these two fields create a challenge to the case study used which explores working psychotherapeutically with a client's food choices, whilst interrogating whether nutritional psychiatric‐derived theories relate to the client work and how to incorporate these ideas within psychotherapeutic practice. Aim: The aim of the study was to investigate the incidence of sleep disturbance and its relationship with anxiety and depression symptoms, social support and hope in breast cancer patients in China during chemotherapy. Design: A single‐centre cross‐sectional study. Methods: A total of 329 breast cancer patients were selected via convenience sampling method before they began chemotherapy (n = 115), before the 5th week of chemotherapy (n = 117) or 1 month after chemotherapy ended (n = 97) and administered paper‐and‐pencil questionnaires to evaluate sleep quality, depression and anxiety symptoms, social support and hope. Risk factors significantly associated with sleep disturbance during bivariate were incorporated in the multivariate analysis. Bivariate analyses showed that age, menopausal status, depression and anxiety symptoms, emotional/informational support, tangible support, affectionate support, positive social interaction and total support were predictors of sleep disturbance. Results: Sleep disturbance was prevalent in breast cancer patients before (27.0%), during (32.5%) and after (39.2%) chemotherapy, with 37.4%, 41.9% and 52.6% of participants, respectively, reporting sleeping below the recommended 7 h. Only 8.6%–15.5% of patients reported taking sedative‐hypnotic drugs during the chemotherapy. Multivariate analyses found that participants reporting clinically significant anxiety (HADS > 8) were 3.5 times more likely to report sleep disturbance (PSQI > 8) than participants without clinically significant anxiety, and each increment in emotional/informational support was associated with a 9.04% reduced risk of sleep disturbance. Background: Given the increasing number of people achieving exceptionally long lifespans, there is an urgent need for a better understanding of mental health in centenarians. This study aimed to understand the prevalence of mental health conditions—depressive symptoms, anxiety, sleep disturbances, disinhibition, and aberrant motor behaviour—among centenarians in Switzerland. Methods: Data were collected from N = 169 participants via telephone interviews or paper questionnaires, either directly from centenarians or through proxy informants. Half the data were collected during a period when protective measures were imposed due to the COVID‐19 pandemic, and half were collected after the measures were lifted. Results: Mental health conditions were prevalent in our sample, particularly depressive symptoms (44.51%) and anxiety (42.17%). Significant positive associations were found between depressive symptoms and anxiety, and between disinhibition and aberrant motor behaviour. Furthermore, we identified statistical predictors for the occurrence of mental health conditions. Notably, institutionalised living increased the odds of depressive symptomatology, while those with higher education levels or an absence of cognitive impairment experienced more sleep disturbances. Finally, cognitive impairment was linked to increased disinhibition and aberrant motor behaviour. Conclusions: The high prevalence of mental health conditions underscores the need for proactive mental health care strategies in advanced old age. Moreover, it is vital to consider the interconnected nature of mental health conditions and to prioritise vulnerable groups, such as centenarians in institutional settings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper examines how young trans people come to be positioned as, and subsequently feel, 'out‐of‐place' in certain everyday spaces, particularly in the socio‐political context of the contemporary UK. Through the stories of young trans people aged 14–25 collected via participatory research, I question what it feels like to be young and trans and to experience and embody such dislocating feelings as 'out‐of‐placeness' and socio‐bodily dysphoria, and what toll repeatedly experiencing such embodied emotions exacts on young trans people, their bodies, and life trajectories. To do so, the experience of misgendering and deadnaming, others' hostile gazes, and what I refer to as socio‐bodily dysphoria, are introduced as examples of common modes of cisnormativity and 'out‐of‐placeness' experienced by participants. I build on Sara Ahmed's work on the socio‐spatial positioning and experience of non‐conforming or disruptive bodies to examine how trans youth and marginalised folk more generally become 'out‐of‐place' and experience 'out‐of‐placeness' in everyday space‐times that are not affectively, socially, or materially structured to expect their bodily presence, facilitate their participation, or enable their active agency, particularly on gendered terms. Importantly, a central contribution of the article involves articulating a spatial conceptualisation of socio‐bodily dysphoria. In sum, I develop geographical analyses of young trans people's everyday encounters and crucially build geographical understandings of the emergence and fixity of socio‐bodily dysphoria and everyday marginality through the voices and stories of trans youth.
