High-tech markets are unpredictable owing to rapid technology innovation, diverse customer needs, high competition, and other elements. Many scholars have attempted to explain the uncertainty in high-tech markets using their own various approaches. However, sufficiently clear ways to predict diverse changes and trends in hightech markets have yet to be presented. Thus, this paper proposes a new approach model, that is, systematic market segmentation, to give more accurate information. Using an empirical dataset from the mobile handset market in the Republic of Korea, we conduct our research model consisting of three steps. First, we categorize nine basic segments. Second, we test the stability of these segments. Finally, we profile the characteristics of the customers and products. We conclude that the approach is able to offer more diagnostic information to both practitioners and scholars. It is expected to provide rich information for an appropriate marketing mix in practice. I have recently traveled to South Korea, where Seoul National University hosted the XXII World Congress of Philosophy, the first time the congress has been hosted in Asia. I was astonished by the pervasive use of many of the latest technological advancements. Among the most impressive changes were environmental. The methods employed in hotels and at the University for minimizing unnecessary consumption of electricity were exemplary. Given the great need America has now for developing its economy, and preferably in a way that does not easily lend itself to outsourcing, South Korea can serve as a model for change implemented through the development and manufacturing of advanced technological tools including high-speed internet access, which will be the focus of the present paper. Some changes have begun already in some arenas of industry and responsiveness to environmental forces, such as in Toyota's decision to move from making SUV's in its new factory coming to Tupelo, Mississippi, to making only the Prius. But Americans have let the governmental incentives for a number of environmentally preferable products run out, and have not lead the way in the propagation of new renewable energy source technologies. Also, America's common approach to the propagation of technological and business development with the use of tax-incentives is fundamentally different far less forceful than the South Korean approach I will discuss. Consumer aversion to new food technologies may be partly explained by the gap between the problem that the technology solves and what consumers actually understand about the food technology. This study assesses how accepting consumers are of food irradiation when exposed to prior information about food safety‐related issues. Using a hypothetical discrete choice experiment, this study also explores consumer demand for a new food irradiation labelling system in South Korea under different information on food irradiation (positive, negative, and positive and negative). The results indicate that Korean consumers have a negative perception of irradiated foods and that they fail to link the use of food irradiation as a vehicle to solve food safety issues, even with the new version of the irradiated food label. However, providing consumers with information about food safety‐related issues alongside with the benefits implied by the use of food irradiation resulted in more general acceptance of food irradiation. This study aims to examine the correlates of management innovation at the organizational level. We propose that internal knowledge exchange acts as a crucial predictor of management innovation. To fine-tune the link between knowledge exchange and management innovation, we examine the mediating explanatory mechanism of IT system development and utilization, as well as the moderating boundary role of organizational size. In an attempt to find generalizable patterns across cultures, we test the model using mediated and moderated hierarchical regression analysis on data gathered from 604 firms in three countries: Slovenia, Spain, and South Korea. The results in all three samples indicate that knowledge exchange is an important correlate of management innovation. In addition, our study provides evidence that knowledge exchange results in management innovation through developed and utilized IT systems that enable information and knowledge to flow within an organization. We also find that the relationship between knowledge exchange and management innovation is hindered by firms' size. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
