Aim: To investigate the associations of individual and combined healthy lifestyle factors (HLS) with the risk of stroke in individuals with diabetes in China. Methods: This prospective analysis included 41 314 individuals with diabetes [15 191 from the Comprehensive Research on the Prevention and Control of the Diabetes (CRPCD) project and 26 123 from the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) study]. Associations of lifestyle factors, including cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, diet, body shape and sleep duration, with the risk of stroke, intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) and ischaemic stroke (IS) were assessed using Cox proportional hazard models. Results: During median follow‐up periods of 8.02 and 9.05 years, 2499 and 4578 cases of stroke, 2147 and 4024 of IS, and 160 and 728 of ICH were documented in individuals with diabetes in the CRPCD and CKB cohorts, respectively. In the CRPCD cohort, patients with ≥5 HLS had a 14% lower risk of stroke (hazard ratio (HR): 0.86, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.75‐0.98) than those with ≤2 HLS. In the CKB cohort, the adjusted HR (95% CI) for patients with ≥5 HLS were 0.74 (0.66‐0.83) for stroke, 0.74 (0.66‐0.83) for IS, and 0.57 (0.42‐0.78) for ICH compared with those with ≤2 HLS. The pooled adjusted HR (95% CI) comparing patients with ≥5 HLS versus ≤2 HLS was 0.79 (0.69‐0.92) for stroke, 0.80 (0.68‐0.93) for IS, and 0.60 (0.46‐0.78) for ICH. The functional role of soil microbes in the restoration of degraded lands is greatly influenced by interactions within and between microbial communities, as well as by soil organisms at higher trophic levels (microfauna). However, little is known about how changes in connection patterns among soil microbes and their co‐existing microfauna contribute to associated changes in soil function over the ecosystem restoration process.In this study, the effects of afforestation and natural regeneration approaches on connection patterns among soil microbes and their co‐existing microfauna were assessed in ex‐arable lands on the Loess Plateau in China along a 50‐year restoration chronosequence. The relationships between soil network connections, microbial functional associations, and multiple soil functions (e.g. multifunctionality) were assessed quantitatively.Although both afforestation and natural regeneration approaches enhance connections among soil microbes and their co‐existing microfauna compared to recently abandoned sites, connection trends were opposed between these two approaches across the restoration chronosequence. Afforestation resulted in a higher number of soil microbial and microfauna species with a unimodal connection pattern, while natural regeneration resulted in a continuous increase in soil network connections over the progress of succession. These increases in soil network connections, particularly those of soil microfauna‐microbe and microbial inter‐kingdom connections, corresponded to enhanced microbial functional associations. This result is corroborated by significant correlations between microbial functional genes encoding different central functional pathways, which, in turn, were positively correlated with soil multifunctionality.Synthesis and applications. Changes in the connections among soil microbes and their co‐existing microfauna were positively associated with changes in soil multifunctionality, mediated by microbial functional associations. While in the early restoration stages, soil networks following afforestation contained more connections than those following natural regeneration, in later restoration stages, the number of connections of the afforestation network declined and was eventually surpassed by those following natural regeneration. These findings raise concerns about the ecological sustainability of afforestation measures in historic grasslands on the Loess Plateau, suggesting that natural regeneration is the preferred approach to achieve long‐term ecological restoration success. The rapid advancements in the digital economy have created numerous opportunities and solutions for industrial green transformation. However, the complex relationship between these two has received relatively less attention. Therefore, this study analyses how the digital economy impacts industrial green transformation across 30 Chinese provinces. The empirical findings highlight the digital economy's significant role in driving industrial green transformation. Within this dynamic framework, two crucial operational mechanisms have been identified: heightened public awareness of environmental issues and the vigorous innovation of green technologies. It becomes evident that the digital economy can energize and sustain the momentum of industrial green transformation. Notably, this influence is most pronounced in eastern‐central China. However, its impact in western China appears relatively weaker, especially at higher quantiles. We observe a strong correlation between the evolution of the digital economy and industrial green transformation in terms of space and time. Higher spatiotemporal regression coefficients are primarily found in areas south of the Hu line, while lower values are more common in the northern regions. Understanding the long‐term spatiotemporal evolution of irrigated cropland is essential for water resource management, but this knowledge remains elusive in most water‐stressed arid areas. In this study, we introduced an integrated framework for long‐term and field‐scale mapping of annual irrigated cropland in arid and semiarid regions. This framework combines the k‐means algorithm with a semiautomatically trained random forest classifier for initial classification and employs the Bayesian Updating of Land Cover algorithm for subsequent postprocessing. Taking the Heihe River basin in northwestern China as the experimental area, we generated 30‐m annual irrigated cropland maps spanning from 1990 to 2020 based on Landsat imagery and the Google Earth Engine. Comprehensive validation confirmed the reliability of this approach, with the overall accuracy of the annual maps ranging from 83% to 88.3% (mean: 86.6%). Our data set provides an unprecedentedly long‐term and fine‐scale perspective for understanding the continuous spatial and temporal dynamics of irrigated cropland in the Heihe River basin, surpassing previous studies in Central Asia and northwestern China. Notably, a rapid expansion of irrigated areas is occurring in the basin, especially in the water‐stressed midstream and downstream areas. This finding points to potential ecological risks in the foreseeable future due to water resource constraints. Rivers are important ecosystems for carbon emissions and play a crucial role in the global carbon cycle. However, CO2 and CH4 emissions from subtropical rivers are substantially under‐represented in global‐scale estimates. Here, we explored the regional patterns of riverine CO2 and CH4 dynamics in the Pearl River basin with a subtropical monsoon climate. We found that its CO2 and diffusive CH4 emissions showed a decreasing trend with increasing stream order. Seasonality in CO2 and diffusive CH4 emissions was primarily driven by variations in partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2) and CH4 (pCH4) and gas transfer velocities, which were strongly regulated by hydrology and climate. We further estimated the basin‐wide CO2 and diffusive CH4 fluxes at 17.8 ± 7.4 Tg C yr−1 and 191.5 ± 139.9 Gg C yr−1, respectively. When normalized to the water surface, the mean diffusive fluxes were 790.1 and 8.5 mmol m−2 d−1 for CO2 and CH4, respectively, which were 1.3 and 2.5 times higher than the global mean riverine CO2 and CH4 fluxes, respectively. This suggests that the global significance of subtropical rivers is probably underestimated because their substantially higher CH4 fluxes are unaccounted for. Furthermore, compared with measured pCO2, the alkalinity‐based pCO2 could introduce significant errors by 20% at ∼30% of the sampling sites, underscoring the necessity of direct measurements to reduce uncertainty. This study provides the first estimate of basin‐wide CO2 and diffusive CH4 emissions in the PRB through direct pCO2 and pCH4 measurements, and highlights the role of hydrologic and climatic factors in governing riverine carbon emissions. Based on social capital theory, this paper aims to investigate the impact of member enterprises of alien merchant chambers on enterprise innovation, within A‐share listed companies on the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges of China from 2010 to 2020. Additionally, the study seeks to explore the role played by social capital resulting from participation in these alien merchant chambers. Furthermore, we delve into the moderating effects of the number of alien merchant chambers and the degree of marketization in the enterprise's location. Moreover, we analyze the influence of heterogeneity in firm ownership and firm type. Our findings reveal that member enterprises of alien merchant chambers can increase their social capital and consequently promoting innovation; both the quantity of alien merchant chambers and the level of marketization in an enterprise's location positively influence this enhancement. Furthermore, the impact of state‐owned enterprises and non‐high‐tech enterprises on enterprise innovation, following their engagement with alien merchant chambers, surpasses that of non‐state‐owned enterprises and high‐tech enterprises. This research bridges the gap in understanding the corporate governance implications of alien merchant chambers, provides empirical evidence concerning Chinese alien merchant chambers, and addresses inquiries regarding the influence of merchant chambers' social capital. Additionally, it proposes a novel approach for listed companies to overcome resource constraints and to collaboratively pursue development, especially in light of the challenges posed by the COVID‐19 pandemic. The formation of rodingites has been a continually controversial topic, largely due to the absence of minerals that can be unambiguously dated. Here, we present a case study that utilized LA‐ICPMS garnet U–Pb dating, in conjunction with field investigations, petrology and Raman spectroscopy, to reveal the age and petrogenesis of rodingite in the northern North China Craton. The rodingites are spatially associated with mafic and alkaline rocks. Our findings indicate that rodingitization occurred at ca. 388 Ma, making it about 5–10 Myr younger than its mafic protoliths, but contemporaneous with the adjoining alkaline plutons. These observations suggest that the rodingitization may be attributed to hydrothermal fluids from the alkaline magmas. Our study emphasizes the importance of utilizing garnet U–Pb dating to determine the timing of rodingitization and introduces a novel perspective on the relationship between rodingitization and alkaline magmas in extensional continental settings. Erythroneurini is the largest tribe of the microleafhopper subfamily Typhlocybinae. Most prior research on this tribe has focused on traditional classification, phylogeny, and control of agricultural pests, and the phylogeography of the group remains poorly understood. In this study, the mitochondrial genomes of 10 erythroneurine species were sequenced, and sequences of four genes were obtained for 12 geographical populations of Seriana bacilla. The new sequence data were combined with previously available mitochondrial DNA sequence data and analyzed using Bayesian and Maximum‐Likelihood‐based phylogenetic methods to elucidate relationships among genera and species and estimate divergence times. Seriana was shown to be derived from within Empoascanara. Phylogeographic and population genetic analysis of the endemic Chinese species Seriana bacilla suggest that the species diverged about 54.85 Mya (95% HPD: 20.76–66.23 million years) in the Paleogene period and that population divergence occurred within the last 14 million years. Ancestral area reconstruction indicates that Seriana bacilla may have originated in the central region of Guizhou, and geographical barriers are the main factors affecting gene flow among populations. Ecological niche modeling using the MaxEnt model suggests that the distribution of the species was more restricted in the past but is likely to expand in the future years 2050 and 2070. Although it is well known that groundwater significantly influences the plant communities, there have been few studies on how the soil and plant communities respond to a rapid decline of groundwater in a short time affected by coal mining. This paper focuses on the examination of changes in groundwater depth before and after coal mining and the soil‐vegetation response in a typical semi‐arid grassland coal mine area of Hulunbuir Steppe, Northeastern China. The IsoSource model, based on the dual stable isotopes of δ D and δ18O, was employed to estimate groundwater contributions to shallow soil (0–100 cm) water under different groundwater depths. The results revealed that groundwater was the dominant water source (75.7% ± 17.1%) for shallow soil water when the groundwater depth is less than 4 m, indicating that 4 m is a threshold in groundwater depth, separating groundwater‐dependent, and precipitation‐driven vegetation system in the study area. Secondly, a strong nonlinear response was observed between vegetation species, height, coverage, and the decline in groundwater. The vegetation properties were found to be the lowest in the areas where groundwater depth increased from 1.5–4 m to 4–28 m before and after coal mining. Finally, the groundwater level decline in the mining area significantly influenced the groundwater‐dependent vegetation ecosystem, the soil cation exchange capacity and organic matter reduced lead to the degradation of plant communities and the transition of mesophytes to xerophytes. Besides, the soil‐vegetation system in the non‐groundwater‐dependent area has no obvious response to the groundwater decline. Spodoptera litura is a notoriously destructive pest, which infests horticultural plants and economically important crops worldwide. Several generations of diamide insecticides have been used to combat S. litura throughout the world, causing various levels of resistance to this class of insecticides among wild S. litura populations. In this work, we monitored resistance to five diamide insecticides among 10 S. litura populations sampled from eastern China in 2022. In comparison with Lab‐S the susceptible strain, five of the tested populations displayed high susceptibility to three of the five diamide insecticides (cyantraniliprole, broflanilide and tetraniliprole). In contrast, there was significant resistance to the other two tested diamide insecticides, flubendiamide and chlorantraniliprole, in seven of the field‐collected populations. The Shanghai (SH) population showed high resistance to chlorantraniliprole (77.0‐fold), flubendiamide (25.5‐fold) and cyantraniliprole (27.8‐fold), respectively, than the strain of Lab‐S. Results of synergism tests in the SH population revealed that diethyl maleate (DEM) and piperonyl butoxide (PBO) greatly inhibited chlorantraniliprole resistance. The progeny of reciprocal crosses between the Lab‐S and SH populations presented dominance degrees of F1 progenies, suggesting that the chlorantraniliprole resistance was autosomal and incompletely recessive in SH. Above results of the current work offer useful knowledge for future formulation of field pest management strategies, allowing farmers to delay the development of resistance to diamide insecticides and thus promote sustainable management of S. litura. Subfamily Cercidoideae is an early‐diverging lineage of Leguminosae, within which the number and classification of genera have been controversial. Cheniella is a recently described genus in the Cercidoideae which requires revision and testing of its monophyly and circumscription. Here we infer the phylogenetic position and infrageneric relationships of Cheniella as well as the intergeneric relationships of Cercidoideae using 48 newly sequenced plastid genomes, including 34 individuals representing all species of Cheniella. Our phylogenetic analyses yield a well‐resolved tree of Cercidoideae with robust support at most nodes. We also present morphological studies through field work and herbarium studies to re‐assess the classification and circumscription of the genus. Based on the results of molecular analyses and morphological studies combined with distribution data, we broaden the circumscription of Cheniella to comprise a total of 15 species and 3 subspecies, including three new species (C. hechiensis, C. longistaminea, C. pubicarpa), one new combination (C. tianlinensis) and one new status and combination (C. longipes). Objectives: To investigate the safety and efficacy of indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence‐guided inguinal lymph node dissection (ILND) in patients with penile cancer. Patients and Methods: A prospective, single‐blind, randomised controlled clinical trial (ChiCTR2100044584) was performed among patients with penile caner who underwent bilateral modified ILND at four centres in China between 1 April 2021 and 30 June 2022. Patients aged 18–80 years and diagnosed with squamous cell carcinomas were included. Each enrolled patient was randomly assigned to either ICG fluorescence‐guided ILND by a laparoscopic or robot‐assisted approach in one groin, with non‐ICG fluorescence‐guided ILND in the other groin acting as a control. The primary outcome was the number of retrieved ILNs. Secondary outcomes included complications according to the Clavien–Dindo classification and the ILN non‐compliance (inadequate removal of ILNs) rate. Results: A total of 45 patients were included in the intention‐to‐treat (ITT) analysis, and the 42 who completed the entire study were included in the per protocol (PP) analysis. There were no ICG‐related complications in any of the patients. The results of the ITT and PP analyses indicated that the total number of unilateral ILNs retrieved was higher on the ICG side than on the non‐ICG side (mean 13 vs 9 ILNs, difference 4 ILNs [95% CI 2.7–4.4], P = 0.007), and the number of unilateral deep and superficial ILNs was higher on the ICG side. Furthermore, the LN non‐compliance rate was lower on the ICG side than on the non‐ICG side. Additionally, there was no significant difference in local complications in the groins between the two sides (P > 0.05). Conclusion: An ICG fluorescence‐guided ILND was safe for patients with penile cancer. This procedure can improve the number of ILNs retrieved and reduce the LN non‐compliance rate without increased complications. The influence of continental emissions on the origin and formation mechanisms of atmospheric particulate nitrate (ρ‐NO3−) aerosols in the marine boundary layer remains unclear. Here, synchronous observations of nitrogen isotope ratios (δ15N–NO3−) and oxygen isotope anomaly (Δ17O–NO3−) in ρ‐NO3− were conducted across the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea in Eastern China. Nitrate concentrations, δ15N–NO3− and Δ17O–NO3− exhibited a pronounced north‐to‐south latitudinal gradient. Combined with backward air mass trajectory analysis, the high nitrate concentration and isotopic characteristics in the northern sea area were found to be affected by the continental outflow near China while the low values in the southern sea area were more related to the oceanic inflow. Stable isotope analysis in R (SIAR) indicated that near the northern sea area, the nitrate radicals (NO3) reacted with hydrocarbons (HC) or dimethyl sulfides (DMS) pathway (NO3 + HC/DMS) played a leading role in nitrate production, whereas the NO2 + OH pathway dominated near the southern sea area. Nitrate in the northern seas originated mainly from nitrogen oxides (NOx = NO + NO2, the gaseous precursor of nitrate) emitted from continental sources, especially coal combustion and biomass burning. While closer to the southern seas, the proportion of NOx generated in the marine environment (from ship and biogenic emissions) increased. Overall, the differential relative contributions of continental and marine atmospheric chemistry and NOx sources lead to the spatial distribution characteristics of atmospheric nitrate concentrations and isotopic values over the Yellow and Bohai Seas. Caudal autotomy is a phenomenon observed in many reptile taxa, and tail loss is a pivotal functional trait for reptiles, with potentially negative implications for organism fitness due to its influence on locomotion. Some lizard species can regenerate a lost tail, which sometimes can lead to the development of more than one tail (i.e., abnormal tail regeneration) in the process. However, little is currently known about the impact of abnormal tail regeneration on locomotor performance. In this study, we document abnormal tail regeneration in Eremias yarkandensis, a reptile species native to northwestern China. Additionally, we investigated the sprint speed and endurance performance of these lizards. This study provides the first report on abnormal tail regeneration and its locomotor performance on a Chinese reptile. We suggest that the abnormal regeneration of tails may contribute to the accumulation of food reserves in the species. In light of our findings, we propose that herpetologists continue to share their sporadic observations and assess the locomotor performance of species experiencing abnormal tail regeneration, further expanding our understanding of this intriguing phenomenon. The field of research in evaluating and applying Bourdieu's theories has seen growing interests in studying how the formation and effect of cultural capital vary in different contexts and fields. While existing studies have increasingly focussed on evaluating the role of cultural capital in creating educational inequalities in the Chinese context, little is known about how activities and taste are valued in the Chinese labour market. Drawing on semi‐structured interviews with 73 recruiters in elite professional firms in China, this article presents a study on how recruiters interpret physically exertive extracurricular activities (ECAs) for graduate hiring. It shows that these ECAs were valorised for assessing individual qualities and competences in job interviews, while other cultural activities, leisure or tastes carried little value. The notion of the body appeared central to this valorisation, conferring symbolic value onto physical exertive ECAs. The value of these activities was twofold, serving to convey candidates' possession of physical and embodied capital, which resonated to the normative dimension of elite professional firms. Recruiters thus used these activities to seek new professional bodies consumable for demanding professional work and resonating with the normative discourses of professionalism. This study provides more nuanced understandings of cultural capital in a non‐Western context and the role of ECAs in elite hiring. Land use change has caused the loss of agricultural biodiversity. As major natural enemies of pests in agroecosystems, spiders have important ecological functions in improving agricultural productivity and thus deserve attention. However, few studies have considered their responses to land use changes. Here, we investigated the structure and diversity of the spider community in four land use types, that is, fallow land, woodland, orchard, and cropland in Pengzhou City, China. The differences in species richness, total abundance, community composition, and spider abundances with three foraging strategies and their correlations with environmental factors and agricultural intensity were compared between land use types. The results showed that the total abundance of spiders in fallow land was 71%, 157%, and 214% higher than that in orchard, cropland, and woodland, respectively. Similarly, fallow land maintained the highest species richness. Shannon–Wiener index, community structure heterogeneity, and number of spider species sampled in a single land use type were highest in woodland. Further, spiders with different foraging strategies showed distinctive responses to environmental factors and agricultural practices. The diversity of hunters was negatively correlated with the intensity of agricultural practices and canopy density, while web‐builders were positively correlated with canopy density. The diversity of burrowers was positively correlated with the vertical complexity of vegetation structure. Our study emphasizes the vital role of semi‐natural habitats, like fallow land and woodland, in maintaining spider diversity, and suggests optimizing land uses to provide wide‐open spaces and mitigate the effects of intensified agricultural activities for natural enemies of pests in agriculture. There has been no consensus yet regarding the precise initial timing and duration of the late Mesozoic extensional tectonics in the South‐eastern China Block. This work focusses on the growth strata of the Early Cretaceous red beds in the South‐eastern China Block to determine the late Mesozoic tectonics and the precise timing of the initiation and duration of extensional tectonics in this area. Field observation of several terrigenous basins shows that the dip angles of the Cretaceous red beds have varied from moderate to gentle from basin edges to interiors (or centres). The visible and estimated thickness within a single bed increases slightly downwards from the upper to the lower part. These characteristics indicate that the sedimentary area of these beds has undergone an extensional process with expansion and deepening of the sedimentary basins. Rotation of the border surfaces (limbs) and downward warping of the hanging walls or retreat of the footwalls of listric normal faults causes three types of extensional growth (or syntectonic) strata in the deposits of different basins. Dating of the volcanic rocks related to the growth beds reveals that the sedimentary basins were enlarged and deepened when the Early Cretaceous strata were deposited in the South‐eastern China Block from ca 140 to 137 Ma. Regionally, under the influence of Palaeo‐Pacific plate rollback since ca 140 Ma, the South‐eastern China Block stress field has led to lithospheric uplift and pull‐apart structures near the surface, causing the half‐graben basins to receive sedimentation. Although the extensional event was interrupted by a short compressional event during 120 to 105 Ma, with the oceanward retreat of the trench, the area of extension gradually enlarged and rejuvenated south‐eastwards until the end of the Cretaceous. Milk production is one of the most important economic utility of goats. Guanzhong dairy goat is a local dairy goat in Shaanxi Province of China and has high milk yield and quality. However, there are relatively few studies on molecular markers of milk production traits in Guanzhong dairy goats. In this study, we sequenced the whole genomes of 20 Guanzhong dairy goats, 10 of which had high milk yield (HM) and 10 of which had low milk yield (LM). We detected candidate signatures of selection in HM goats using Fst and π‐ratio statistics and identified several candidate genes including ANPEP, ADRA1A and PRKG1 associated with milk production. Geographic and sex differences in esophageal cancer have been reported in China, but data are lacking at the local level. We aimed to investigate geographic and sex disparities in esophageal cancer incidence among Chinese counties and whether county‐level socioeconomic status was associated with these variations. We obtained esophageal cancer data from 2015 to 2017 for 782 counties from population‐based cancer registries in China. We calculated age‐standardized incidence rates and male‐to‐female incidence rate ratios (IRRs) by county. We performed hotspot analysis to identify geographical clusters. We used negative binomial regression models to analyze the association between incidence rates and county‐level socioeconomic factors. There were significant geographic disparities in esophageal cancer incidence, with 8.1 times higher rate in the 90th‐percentile county than in the 10th‐percentile county (23.7 vs 2.9 per 100 000 person‐years). Clusters of elevated rates were prominent across north‐central China. Nationally, men had 2.9 times higher incidence of esophageal cancer than women. By county, the male‐to‐female IRRs ranged from 1.1 to 21.1. Clusters of high male‐to‐female IRRs were observed in northeast China. Rurality (IRR 1.16, 95% CI 1.10‐1.22), per capita gross domestic product (IRR 0.95, 0.92‐0.98) and percentage of people with a high school diploma (IRR 0.86, 0.84‐0.87) in a county were significantly associated with esophageal cancer incidence. The male‐to‐female IRRs were higher in counties with higher socioeconomic status. Substantial differences in incidence rates and sex ratios of esophageal cancer exist between Chinese counties, and county‐level socioeconomic status was associated with these variations. Inland waters are significant emitters of greenhouse gases for the atmosphere and play an important role in the global carbon cycle. With a vast land area in East Asia spanning a broad range of climatic conditions, China has a large number of natural and human‐made water bodies. These inland water systems are of global importance because of their high carbon emission fluxes. Over the past decades, China has experienced unprecedented environmental changes driven by rapid economic development, which have profoundly modified its inland water carbon biogeochemistry and associated emissions. This review focuses on carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) emission dynamics from China's inland waters in response to global change. Major drivers of CO2 and CH4 emissions, including aquatic metabolism, hydrological and climatic factors, and prevailing human impacts, are examined. To advance our understanding of carbon emissions from China's inland waters, we further identify several critical knowledge gaps, such as inadequate research in headwater streams and the climate‐sensitive Tibetan Plateau aquatic ecosystems. Furthermore, insufficient understanding of carbon emissions from inland waters undergoing extensive human interventions (e.g., damming, flow regulation, pollution, and farming practices in aquaculture ponds) is highlighted. We suggest that future efforts should be made to better capture the spatiotemporal heterogeneity in dissolved CO2 and CH4 concentrations and fluxes across China as well as their long‐term trends. To overcome uncertainties in carbon sources and current flux estimates, future research to mechanistically understand carbon transport and transformation in Chinese inland waters and their underlying processes is particularly needed. The Guizhou golden monkey (Rhinopithecus brelichi) is a critically endangered wildlife species, and understanding its diet composition may be useful for assessing its feeding strategies. DNA metabarcoding was used to determine the dietary diversity of R. brelichi. DNA was extracted from 31 faecal samples and amplified chloroplast rbcL and mitochondrial COI DNA was sequenced using the Illumina NovaSeq platform. A comparative analysis of the sequences revealed that the five most abundant plant genera were Magnolia, Morinda, Viburnum, Tetradium and Eurya. In winter, R. brelichi mostly consumed shrubs, herbs and shrubs/trees according to the habit of plant genera with higher abundances comparatively. The five most abundant families in animal diet were Psychodidae, Trichinellidae, Staphylinidae, Scarabaeidae and Trichoceridae. This study is the first to show the composition of the winter animal diets of R. brelichi based on DNA metabarcoding. These results provide an important basis for understanding the diet of wild R. brelichi, which inhabits only the Fanjingshan National Nature Reserve, China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Formulas containing intact cow milk protein are appropriate alternatives when human milk (HM) is not feasible. However, for babies with a physician‐diagnosed cow milk protein allergy (CMPA), hydrolyzed formulas are needed. We conducted a 3‐month, open‐label, nonrandomized concurrent controlled trial (ChiCTR2100046909) between June 2021 and October 2022 in Qingdao City, China. In this study, CMPA toddlers were fed with a partially hydrolyzed formula containing synbiotics (pHF, n = 43) and compared with healthy toddlers fed a regular intact protein formula (IF, n = 45) or HM (n = 21). The primary endpoint was weight gain; the secondary endpoints were changes in body length and head circumference of both CMPA and healthy toddlers after 3‐month feeding; and the exploratory outcomes were changes in gut microbiota composition. After 3 months, there were no significant group differences for length‐for‐age, weight‐for‐age, or head circumference‐for‐age Z scores. In the gut microbiota, pHF feeding increased its richness and diversity, similar to those of IF‐fed and HM‐fed healthy toddlers. Compared with healthy toddlers, the toddlers with CMPA showed an increased abundance of phylum Bacteroidota, Firmicutes, class Clostridia, and Bacteroidia, and a decreased abundance of class Negativicutes, while pHF feeding partly eliminated these original differences. Moreover, pHF feeding increased the abundance of short‐chain fatty acid producers. Our data suggested that this pHF partly simulated the beneficial effects of HM and shifted the gut microbiota of toddlers with CMPA toward that of healthy individuals. This paper discusses whether the effect of campaign‐style enforcement can surpass the short term from the perspective of authority allocation. Based on the theory of authority allocation, we establish an explanatory framework for the impact of authority allocation on the effect of campaign‐style enforcement. We argue that, through authority allocation, the central government has both formal authority and real authority, which helps to extend the effect of campaign‐style enforcement beyond the short term. We empirically studied the regulatory compliance in China's environmental administrative talk from 2014 to 2016. Statistical findings supported by robustness checks confirm our theoretical hypotheses. Further analysis shows that campaign‐style enforcement can be more effective when local officials have longer tenure, higher levels of education, or older age. Our paper shows that authority recentralization on specific issues can bridge the conflict of policy goals between central and local governments, prolonging the effect of campaign‐style enforcement. Objective: Emerging evidence suggests that meeting the 24‐h movement guidelines is associated with optimal mental health. However, there remains some uncertainty regarding this association in children. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the association between meeting the 24‐h movement guidelines and psychosocial health in children. Methods: A cross‐sectional study design was employed to investigate 2005 children aged 9–12 years from four districts of Shanghai, China. The 24‐h movement behaviours were assessed using selected items from the Health Behaviour in School‐aged Children (HBSC) survey questionnaire. Children's self‐rated psychosocial health was evaluated using the Strengths or Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ). Generalised Linear Models with the ordinal logistic module were employed to analyse the association between meeting the 24‐h movement guidelines and psychosocial health. Results: The overall prevalence of meeting all three 24‐h movement recommendations was 10.2%. Among children, 7.9% of them exhibited abnormal total difficulties, with a notable difference between sex (boys: 11.2%, girls: 7.0%, p = 0.001). Meeting all three 24‐h movement behaviour recommendations was associated with reduced total difficulties, emotional symptoms, conduct problems, hyperactivity and peer problems. Furthermore, a dose–response association was observed, indicating that meeting a greater number of 24‐h movement behaviour recommendations was associated with enhanced psychosocial health, particularly in boys. Conclusion: The findings of this study highlight the positive association between meeting the 24‐h movement guidelines and psychosocial health in children. Notably, meeting more of these recommendations was associated with a lower likelihood of experiencing psychosocial problems, with greater benefits observed in boys compared with girls. Background: The combination of tislelizumab and gemcitabine plus cisplatin (GP) in the first‐line treatment of patients with recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma (R/M NPC) has yielded significant results. However, it is not clear whether this treatment option is cost‐effective in China. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the cost‐effectiveness of tislelizumab plus GP for the first‐line treatment of R/M NPC from the perspective of the Chinese healthcare system. Methods: A partitioned survival model with three discrete health states was constructed to evaluate the cost‐effectiveness of tislelizumab plus GP versus GP in patients with R/M NPC. The target population enrolled in the RATIONALE‐309 trial had previously not treated for R/M NPC. Drug costs were obtained from relevant databases, and the remaining cost and health utility data were collected from the literature. The main outcomes include the expected life years, quality‐adjusted life years (QALYs), total cost, and incremental cost–benefit ratio (ICER). Results: The tislelizumab plus GP regimen produced an additional cost ($18392.76) and additional 1.57 QALYs compared with GP used alone. The ICER was $18392.75/QALYs. Sensitivity analysis showed that the analysis was robust and the utility of PD status was most sensitive to the model results. The possibility of tislelizumab plus GP being cost‐effective at the willingness‐to‐pay (WTP) threshold of $37 653/QALY was 99.8%. Subgroup analysis showed that high PD‐L1 expression had little impact on the ICER of this regimen. Conclusion: In patients with R/M NPC, the regimen of tislelizumab plus GP, as the first‐line treatment, is more cost‐effective than the GP regimen in China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The pioneer Amaranthaceae species sand rice (Agriophyllum squarrosum) is an annual psammophyte that is widely distributed in the deserts and sand fields of northern China. The well‐balanced nutritional values, long consumption history, and extreme stress tolerance of sand rice have fascinated scientists, prompting its development as a climate‐resilient crop. Sand rice has been successfully introduced and cultivated on sandy and loess lands over the past decade, while large‐scale artificial planting has been carried out in the Ulan Buh and Tengger deserts. However, the yield is far below the maximum potential, as estimated by the highest yield per plant ever found in the Tengger desert during our survey of wild populations. The current domestication of sand rice relies mainly on natural selection and mutagenesis breeding. A few elite lines with modified agronomic traits, such as compact architecture, high productivity, reduced trichomes, and short plant stature, have been developed from natural populations and a chemical mutagenesis library. Breeding new cultivars and broader cultivation of sand rice in deserts and marginal lands will stimulate economic growth and diversify the food supply, especially for the area west of the Hu Huanyong Line, thus contributing to environmental sustainability in northern China. Importance: Adenovirus encephalitis is a significant infectious disease of the central nervous system that commonly affects children under the age of 5 and has a profound impact on the health of infants and young children throughout China. National multicenter epidemiological studies have significant public health implications. Objective: This study aims to report the epidemiology of adenovirus encephalitis in hospitalized children in China, providing valuable guidance for clinicians. Methods: The data utilized in this study were extracted from the comprehensive Futang Update Medical Records database, which comprises discharge medical records collected by 27 tertiary children's hospitals between January 2016 and December 2018 in China. Specifically, the face sheet of discharge medical records encompassed critical sociodemographic variables and basic medical care details. Results: In this database, a total of 544 children were hospitalized due to adenoviral encephalitis. The male‐to‐female ratio was 1.62:1, with more boys being affected across different age groups and places of residence. Of the children hospitalized, the highest number of hospitalizations occurred in the 1–3‐year age group and the number of hospitalizations decreased each year from 2016 to 2018. The disease exhibits seasonal characteristics with a pronounced peak in the summer months of June and July. While most children (58%) did not have any significant complications, one‐third of them developed respiratory complications, including pneumonia and acute bronchitis. The median length of stay for adenoviral encephalitis was 7 days, and the median cost of hospitalization was 2145.56 US dollars. Interpretation: This study highlights the prevalence of adenovirus encephalitis in hospitalized children in China. Children aged 1–3 years were found to be the main demographic hospitalized due to this condition, with boys being significantly more affected than girls. The seasonal variations of adenovirus encephalitis were also found to be significant. Fortunately, the fatality rate associated with this condition was low, and the prognosis was generally favorable. The mine roadway built in the same thick rock stratum will not change the lithologic medium in front of the roadway under the influence of the small structure of the mine, which makes the mine radar face many difficulties in structural interpretation. In the coal measure strata in southwest China, the coal seam roof is the weak aquifer of the Kayitou (T1k) group. The mine structure is the excellent drainage boundary of an aquifer, resulting in the water content of the structural belt being different from that of the surrounding rock. This paper proposes a method to identify hidden structures in mine roadways using the autoregressive and moving average power spectrum energy enveloping medium water content inversion technique. Based on the actual water content of strata in the study area, 48 roadway models are constructed. The finite‐difference time‐domain algorithm was used to obtain the forward data and calculate the volumetric water content of the model. The structure of the roadway model is accurately identified by the water content difference. In the numerical simulation study, the segmentation frequency of high‐frequency and low‐frequency envelope of the autoregressive and moving average spectrum of 100‐MHz radar antenna is determined to be 155 MHz, and the value range of water content calculation regulation parameter k is determined. The high‐ and low‐frequency envelope inversion characteristics of the autoregressive and moving average spectrum of different tunnel media models are summarized and analysed. To solve the calculation problem of energy envelope selection of autoregressive and moving average power spectrum of engineering data, the k‐nearest neighbour machine learning algorithm was used to learn and classify the power spectrum features of different tunnel models. The detection application is analysed through the whole‐rock medium and coal and rock medium roadway in the study area. Background and Aims: Leukocytospermia (LCS) is a known cause of male infertility. However, the relationship between seminal leukocytes and semen quality among infertile couples remains controversial. This study aims to investigate the association between semen quality and LCS in male partners of infertile couples. Methods: Semen samples were collected from 512 men who asked for a fertility evaluation in a reproductive center in China. Seminal leukocytes were counted following peroxidase staining with benzidine. Other semen parameters were compared in subfertile men with and without LCS. Results: Poor semen quality (e.g., low semen volume, sperm concentration, and sperm progressive/total motility) was observed among men with LCS compared to those without LCS. Men with LCS had a higher risk of low sperm progressive motility (OR = 0.99, 95% CI = 0.98−0.99, p = 0.02) and total motility (OR = 0.99, 95% CI = 0.98−0.99, p = 0.02), even after adjustment for potential confounders (both OR = 0.99, 95% CI = 0.98−0.99, p = 0.03). Lower sperm viability was observed in LCS from male partners of secondary couples, while no significant difference in semen parameters was found between men with and without LCS in male partners of primary infertile couples. Low sperm motility and viability were associated with LCS in men from secondary infertile couples after adjusting for confounders (OR = 0.97, 95% CI = 0.95−0.99, p = 0.04; OR = 0.94, 95% CI = 0.89−0.99, p = 0.04, respectively). Conclusions: Our findings indicate that a higher risk of abnormal semen parameters was correlated with an increased number of leukocytes in men from secondary infertile couples. Aims: To assess the prevalence of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and its risk factors in the type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) population. Methods: This cross‐sectional study enroled patients with T2DM between July and December 2017 from 24 provinces in China. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy and its severity were assessed by the Toronto clinical scoring system, neuropathy symptoms score (NSS) and neuropathy disability score. The prevalence of DPN and its risk factors were analysed. Results: A total of 14,908 patients with T2DM were enroled. The prevalence of DPN was 67.6%. Among 10,084 patients with DPN, 4808 (47.7%), 3325 (33.0%), and 1951 (19.3%) had mild, moderate, and severe DPN, respectively. The prevalence of DPN in females was higher than in males (69.0% vs. 66.6%, P = 0.002). The prevalence of DPN increased with age and course of diabetes and decreased with body mass index (BMI) and education level (all P for trend <0.05). The comorbidities and complications in patients with DPN were higher than in those without DPN, including hypertension, myocardial infarction, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic nephropathy (all P < 0.001). Age, hypertension, duration of diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, glycated haemoglobin, high‐density lipoprotein cholesterol, and lower estimated glomerular filtration rate were positively associated with DPN, while BMI, education level, fasting C‐peptide, and uric acid were negatively associated with DPN. Conclusions: Among patients with T2DM in China, the prevalence of DPN is high, especially in the elderly, low‐income, and undereducated patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The little fire ant Wasmannia auropunctata (Roger) is a major invasive species that seriously threatens the biodiversity of invaded areas. W. auropunctata was first reported in Chinese mainland in 2022 and its impact on native species is still unknown. To evaluate the impact of W. auropunctata invasion on the ant communities in southern China, a series of interspecific competition experiments were conducted in this study. The individual aggression index and group aggression experiments showed the advantage of W. auropunctata in competition with 5 resident ants under equal worker numbers. When encountering Anoplolepis gracilipes, Camponotus nicobarensis, Tetramorium bicarinatum, Polyrhachis dives, and Solenopsis invicta, W. auropunctata gradually gained a competitive advantage with an increase in its number of workers. In the group aggression experiments with equal worker numbers, there was a negative correlation between the body length and mortality rate of resident ants. The results of the foraging behavior experiments showed that W. auropunctata was able to dominate food resources under competition with Carebara diversa, which also displayed weak competition in the group aggression bioassay. In addition, the abilities to recruit workers and retrieve food were inhibited under competition with S. invicta and T. bicarinatum. The results of the nesting behavior experiments showed that in the 24‐h bout of space resource competition, W. auropunctata was dominant over C. diversa, S. invicta, and T. bicarinatum. The results of this study show that W. auropunctata has certain advantages in competition for food and space resources over resident ants in southern China, and some resident ant species may be replaced in the future. The Qaidam Basin is one of the major coal‐bearing basins in northeastern China with the coal seams mainly preserved in the Lower–Middle Jurassic. The Middle Jurassic sedimentary environment, sequence stratigraphy, paleoclimate, and coal accumulation in the Qaidam Basin have been extensively studied, while the sedimentary characteristics and depositional evolution of the Lower Jurassic coal‐bearing series are less well known. We systematically analysed the facies association, depositional system, basin evolution, and coal accumulation of the Early Jurassic Pliensbachian‐aged coal‐bearing series from the Dameigou section in the northern Qaidam Basin. Five lithological types have been identified, ranging from conglomerates, sandstones, siltstones, and mudstones to combustible organic rocks, which were further subdivided into 12 lithofacies. These lithofacies were grouped into four facies associations, representing the braided fluvial, meandering fluvial, lacustrine, and meandering fluvial‐lacustrine transition deposits, respectively. The Pliensbachian Stage mainly developed as a fluvial‐lacustrine depositional system and an evolution history from braided fluvial to meandering fluvial, then to lacustrine, and finally back to meandering fluvial was reconstructed. We suggest that climate change is the major controlling factor for depositional evolution during the Pliensbachian. The transition of the depositional environment from fluvial to lacustrine in the study area can be attributed to the rapid climatic change induced by volcanism at this interval. Over the past 20 years, the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE), and its successor mission, GRACE‐Follow On (GRACE‐FO) have made significant contributions to time‐variable gravity field modeling. A Chinese low‐low satellite‐to‐satellite tracking gravimetry mission (i.e., Chinese future gravimetry mission) has been confirmed to be selected as the polar‐orbiting satellite gravimetry mission for China, because of the capability to collect gravity data globally. However, the analysis of potential contributions to geosciences from GRACE‐FO coupling with the Chinese future gravimetry mission is still limited. This study combines GRACE‐FO and Chinese future gravimetry missions as the Dual GRACE‐like Polar satellite Constellation (DGPC). By carefully choosing the initial orbit parameters of the Chinese future gravimetry mission with the differential evolution algorithm, the DGPC is expected to mitigate the temporal aliasing effects by improving the temporal resolution of time‐variable gravity solutions (i.e., 1‐day and 3‐day solutions). Regarding the spectral‐domain evaluation, zonal, tesseral, and sectorial coefficients estimated by the DGPC show approximately 6.01%–13.42% noise reductions compared with GRACE‐FO. Regarding the spatial‐domain evaluation, the DGPC can suppress noises of about 39.44% and 31.12% in annual amplitude and long‐term trend, respectively. On this basis, this paper analyzes the effectiveness of the DGPC in potential contributions to geosciences (e.g., hydrology, glaciology, and seismology). Specifically, the DGPC can improve accuracy by about 36.96%, 25.85%, and 33.16% with respect to GRACE‐FO for signals in the subhumid basin, signals of ice‐sheet mass balance over Greenland, and coseismic displacement of the fault zone, respectively. In general, the potential capability for high‐frequency signals recovery of the DGPC would facilitate contributions of satellite gravimetry to geosciences. Including the GRACE‐FO mission, it is expected that there will be two polar pairs of gravity satellites (i.e., dual GRACE‐like polar satellite constellation) simultaneously within the next few years. What can we expect from the dual GRACE‐like polar satellite constellation? In this study, we introduce an optimization algorithm (i.e., differential evolution algorithm) to carefully choose the initial orbit parameters of the Chinese future gravimetry mission. The dual GRACE‐like polar satellite constellation has been demonstrated to have the potential to mitigate the temporal aliasing effects of time‐variable gravity solutions. It is found that the dual GRACE‐like polar satellite constellation can improve accuracy by about 36.96%, 25.85%, and 33.16% with respect to GRACE‐FO for signals in the subhumid basin, signals of ice‐sheet mass balance over Greenland, and coseismic displacement of the fault zone, respectively. The temporal improvement of Earth's mass transport estimated by coupling GRACE‐FO with a Chinese polar gravity satellite mission would facilitate contributions of satellite gravimetry to geosciences. The ability of knowledge, attitude, and practice of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses to perform medical device‐related pressure injuries (MDRPIs) can affect the incidence of MDRPI in ICU patients. Therefore, in order to improve ICU nurses' understanding and nursing ability of MDRPIs, we investigated the non‐linear relationship (synergistic and superimposed relationships) between the factors influencing ICU nurses' ability of knowledge, attitude, and practice. A Clinical Nurses' Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice Questionnaire for the Prevention of MDRPI in Critically Ill Patients was administered to 322 ICU nurses from tertiary hospitals in China from January 1, 2022 to June 31, 2022. After the questionnaire was distributed, the data were collected and sorted out, and the corresponding statistical analysis and modelling software was used to analyse the data. IBM SPSS 25.0 software was used to conduct Single factor analysis and Logistic regression analysis on the data, so as to screen the statistically significant influencing factors. IBM SPSS Modeler18.0 software was used to construct a decision tree model of the factors influencing MDRPI knowledge, attitude, and practice of ICU nurses, and ROC curves were plotted to analyse the accuracy of the model. The results showed that the overall passing rate of ICU nurses' knowledge, attitude, and practice score was 72%. The statistically significant predictor variables ranked in importance were education background (0.35), training (0.31), years of working (0.24), and professional title (0.10). AUC = 0.718, model prediction performance is good. There is a synergistic and superimposed relationship between high education background, attended training, high years of working and high professional title. Nurses with the above factors have strong MDRPI knowledge, attitude, and practice ability. Therefore, nursing managers can develop a reasonable and effective scheduling system and MDRPI training program based on the study results. We examine whether CEOs with foreign experience influence firms' export performance. Using a combined dataset based on Chinese‐listed firms from 2008 to 2021, we determine that hiring CEOs with foreign experience significantly enhances firms' export performance. In addition, we document that the positive relationship between CEOs' foreign experience and firms' export performance is more pronounced when CEOs have long‐term foreign work experience. The impact of foreign experience on firms' export performance varies with CEOs' gender. Furthermore, the advantage of appointing CEOs with foreign experience is only significant when firms have long‐time lifespan or receive intensive foreign direct investment. The results are robust to the endogenous CEO selection using instrument variable method, propensity score matching method, and the fixed‐effects model. The Yangtze River is one of the most important rivers in China, and its basin is the most populous urban area in China. The relationship between cities and floods in the Yangtze River Basin is of significance. In our analysis of 4,511 historical county‐level cities and 37,512 historical flood disasters, we used ARCGIS to conduct spatial analyses, including kernel density analysis, coldspot and hotspot analysis, and center of gravity analysis, to reveal the relationship between cities, population, and floods in the Yangtze River Basin in the past 2000 years. The results indicate that three relatively stable, dense urban areas are the Chengdu Plain; the border of the Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu Provinces and surrounding areas; and the central Guizhou Province and southwestern part of Hubei Province. The hotspot areas of floods were the main tributaries and lakes of the Yangtze River, whereas the coldspot areas were the Chengdu Plain and the surrounding areas. More importantly, cities are not far from flood regions, and this will cause serious flooding. Due to location advantages, cities tend to be close to rivers, lakes, and other water systems. River transport of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) to the ocean is a crucial but poorly quantified regional carbon cycle component. Large uncertainties remaining on the riverine DOC export from China, as well as its trend and drivers of change, have challenged the reconciliation between atmosphere‐based and land‐based estimates of China's land carbon sink. Here, we harmonized a large database of riverine in‐situ measurements and applied a random forest model, to quantify riverine DOC fluxes (FDOC) and DOC concentrations (CDOC) in rivers across China. This study proposes the first DOC modeling effort capable of reproducing well the magnitude of riverine CDOC and FDOC, as well as its trends, on a monthly scale and with a much wider spatial distribution over China compared to previous studies that mainly focused on annual‐scale estimates and large rivers. Results show that over the period 2001–2015, the average CDOC was 2.25 ± 0.45 mg/L and average FDOC was 4.04 ± 1.02 Tg/year. Simultaneously, we found a significant increase in FDOC (+0.044 Tg/year2, p =.01), but little change in CDOC (−0.001 mg/L/year, p >.10). Although the trend in CDOC is not significant at the country scale, it is significantly increasing in the Yangtze River Basin and Huaihe River Basin (0.005 and 0.013 mg/L/year, p <.05) while significantly decreasing in the Yellow River Basin and Southwest Rivers Basin (−0.043 and −0.014 mg/L/year, p =.01). Changes in hydrology, play a stronger role than direct impacts of anthropogenic activities in determining the spatio‐temporal variability of FDOC and CDOC across China. However, and in contrast with other basins, the significant increase in CDOC in the Yangtze River Basin and Huaihe River Basin is attributable to direct anthropogenic activities. Given the dominance of hydrology in driving FDOC, the increase in FDOC is likely to continue under the projected increase in river discharge over China resulting from a future wetter climate. As an important destination for upstream materials and element accumulation, lake sediments hold a multitude of contextual information about climatic changes and anthropogenic disturbances. However, understanding the lake sedimentation state to link catchment pressures and biogenic regime shifts remains challenging. To address this, research was conducted on the lake sedimentation state, including the dynamics, catchment drivers, effects on biogenic regimes, and responses to typical historical events using nine sediment cores from Dongting Lake, China, a typical global priority ecoregion. Three transitions of lake sedimentation state were distinguished over the century (1937, 1968, and 1993), whereby hydrologic dynamics and land‐use changes in the watershed were the direct drivers with relative contributions of 16.30% and 14.56%, respectively. Lake sedimentation state and organic matter inputs not only preceded sediment biogenic elements at the shift time but also exhibited nonlinear trigger effects on biogenic element contents (R2 = 0.47, p < 0.01), which promoted an increase in sediment biogenic element burial rates. Rate of change analysis indicated that intensive human activities altered the relationship between the sedimentation state and biogenic regime shift, thus revealing the response to anthropogenic events in the catchment. Pathways quantified by the partial least squares path model established the link between watershed attributes and lake biogenic properties via the lake sedimentation state. Our findings revealed a cascading linkage among catchment eco‐surroundings, lake sedimentation states, and biogenic regime shifts. Plague is a typical natural focus disease that circulates in different ecology of vectors and reservoir hosts. We conducted genomic population and phylogenetic analyses of the Yersinia pestis collected from the 12 natural plague foci in China with more than 20 kinds of hosts and vectors. Different ecological landscapes with specific hosts, vectors, and habitat which shape various niches for Y. pestis. The phylogeographic diversity of Y. pestis in different kinds plague foci in China showed host niches adaptation. Most natural plague foci strains are region‐and focus‐specific, with one predominant subpopulation; but the isolates from the Qinghai–Tibet plateau harbor a higher genetic diversity than other foci. The Y. pestis from Marmota himalayana plague foci are defined as the ancestors of different populations at the root of the evolutionary tree, suggesting several different evolutionary paths to other foci. It has the largest pan‐genome and widest SNP distances with most accessory genes enriched in mobilome functions (prophages, transposons). Geological barriers play an important role in the maintenance of local Y. pestis species and block the introduction of non‐native strains. This study provides new insights into the control of plague outbreaks and epidemics, deepened the understanding of the evolutionary history of MHPF (M. himalayana plague focus) in China. Prior research has shown that humility in the workplace can provide many advantages. However, the literature has largely focused on leaders rather than employees. There is an important distinction between the two, because leaders have already achieved professional success that may or may not be due to humility (i.e., survivorship bias), whereas employees may feel pressure to focus on behaviors seemingly at odds with humility (i.e., getting ahead). Drawing on the social capital theory of career success, this study investigates whether and how humility helps employees achieve both short‐term (job performance) and long‐term (promotability) job success. We posit that, in the Chinese context, humility can promote employees' objective job performance and promotability by accessing social resources from team leaders and coworkers. The beneficial effects can be explained by the mediating effects of leader–member exchange and employee advice network centrality. We conducted a path comparison on the relationship between the mediators and career success to further explain the mechanisms, and tested the model using a three‐wave survey with a sample of 689 employees and their leaders from 137 teams. Background: Increased preoperative red cell distribution width (RDW) is associated with poor prognosis in several cancers, but the relationships between preoperative RDW and changes in RDW (ΔRDW) and colorectal cancer (CRC) prognosis remain unclear. Our study aimed to demonstrate the prognostic significance of increased preoperative RDW and ΔRDW for CRC. Methods: In this retrospective analysis, we enrolled 833 patients who underwent CRC surgery between 2015 and 2019 at the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University, China. ΔRDW in our study was defined as RDW at 1 month after discharge minus preoperative RDW. According to receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, we used cut‐off values of 13.5% for RDW, 0.9% for ΔRDW. The cumulative survival rate was determined using the Kaplan–Meier method, and significant differences were evaluated by the log‐rank test. Multivariable Cox regression model was applied to clarify the independent risk factors for overall survival (OS), which were used to construct a nomogram prediction model. The competing risk method was also applied, and we analyzed only patients with early‐stage disease (stage 0‐II) for sensitivity analysis. Results: Multivariable Cox regression analysis demonstrated that age, RDW, ΔRDW, postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy, CEA, CA19‐9, ASA, TNM stage, and pathological type were independent factors for OS in CRC patients (all p < 0.05). These prognostic factors were used to establish and verify the OS nomogram. Poorer OS was linked to higher RDW (HR = 1.52; 95% CI, 1.11–2.08; p < 0.01) and ΔRDW (HR = 1.65; 95% CI, 1.19–2.28; p < 0.01) in all‐stage patients, and was only linked to higher RDW in early‐stage patients. In competing risk model, H‐RDW and H‐ΔRDW were confirmed to be independent risk factors for CSS in CRC patients. Secondary and plantation forests are the main alternative forests remaining after the deforestation of primary forests. Understanding the conservation value of secondary and plantation forests is important for biological conservation. To explore the impact of forest conversion on biodiversity, we compared multiple diversity metrics (taxonomic, phylogenetic, and functional diversity) and community structure of small mammals in the primary, secondary, and plantation forests in Mt. Liangshan, Sichuan Province, China. Three field surveys were conducted in each of the three forest types to characterize local small mammal assemblages from 2017 to 2020. We found that the taxonomic, phylogenetic, and functional diversity of small mammals in the three forest types were similar at the landscape scale, while all diversity metrics were lowest in the plantation forest and highest in the primary forests at the site scale. The community structure analysis showed that habitat filtering was the dominant process driving the assembly of small mammal communities across the three forest types, and there was no statistically significant difference in small mammal community structure among the three forest types. Our results indicated that secondary and plantation forests in the nature reserves, adjacent to the primary forest and exposed to little human disturbance, also can provide important habitats for small mammals. Background: Disease stage at diagnosis and molecular subtypes are the main determinants of breast cancer treatment strategies and prognosis. We aimed at examining the disparities and factors associated with the stage at diagnosis among the molecular subtypes in breast cancer patients in China. Methods: We identified patients with first primary breast cancer diagnosed between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2017, from 23 hospitals in 12 provinces in China. We analyzed the proportion of non‐early‐stage (stages II–IV) breast cancer cases based on the family history of breast cancer, body mass index (BMI), insurance status, and molecular subtypes. Multivariable analyses were used to estimate the factors associated with non‐early‐stage diagnosis among the molecular subtypes. We further compared these estimates with that in the United States using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. Results: A total of 9398 Chinese were identified with first primary invasive breast cancer. Of the 8767 patients with known stages, the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)‐enriched subtype had the highest proportion of stages II–IV (76.6%) patients, followed by triple‐negative breast cancer (73.2%), luminal B (69.9%), and luminal A (62.3%). The percentage of non‐early‐stage patients was higher in women with overweight or obesity than in those with a body mass index (BMI) <25 kg/m2 (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 1.3, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.1–1.4). Patients with a family history of breast cancer had a higher likelihood of early‐stage (adjusted OR 0.7, 0.5–0.8) breast cancer. Patients with rural insurance had a substantially higher risk of non‐early‐stage disease than those with urban insurance (adjusted OR 1.8, 1.4–2.2). Regarding the subtype, being overweight/obese only increased the risk of non‐early‐stage in luminal A breast cancer. Compared with the United States, China had a higher proportion of non‐early‐stage breast cancer for all subtypes, with the largest gap in luminal A (adjusted OR 2.2, 95% CI 2.0–2.4). The Qiantang river estuary flows into Hangzhou Bay, on the East China Sea, and has one of the largest tidal bores worldwide. The tidal freshwater zone (TFZ) in this shallow macrotidal estuary is subjected to strong riverine and marine forcings. We investigated monthly variation of phytoplankton and environmental drivers in the upper and lower sections of TFZ during 2016. Large numbers of phytoplankton taxa (422) and genera (161) were identified. Diatoms were dominant in most months, but cyanobacteria abundance reached its greatest in warm months when runoff was low. Surprisingly, relatively high dominances of marine diatom species (e.g., Cyclotella stylorum, Skeletonema, and Thalassiosira) were observed in the TFZ with salinities usually <1 PSU. Microcystis contributed up to 50% to phytoplankton abundance in the upper TFZ in September, consistent with upstream bloom events. Abundances of phytoplankton and cyanobacteria were significantly negatively correlated with monthly runoff and sediment fluxes. Generalized additive models suggested that variation in phytoplankton abundance was largely explained by river flow, temperature and nutrients. Phytoplankton community composition varied significantly across different months and sections. Redundancy analysis indicated that temperature and flow rate explained more variation in phytoplankton community than other variables, but nutrients, Secchi depth and salinity also contributed significantly to the explained variation. Variance partitioning analysis confirmed that phytoplankton variation was largely regulated by physical variables rather than nutrients. These findings highlight the unexpectedly great phytoplankton species richness, dominance of marine diatoms, and physical drivers in the eutrophic macrotidal TFZ under strong tidal forcing. Here, we examined variation in phytoplankton associated with physicochemical properties in the upper and lower TFZ of QRE on a monthly basis in 2016. We found the unexpectedly great phytoplankton species richness and dominance of marine diatoms in this eutrophic TFZ and identified the strong physical drivers of phytoplankton composition variation. Diatoms were dominant in most months, but cyanobacteria (particularly Microcystis) tended to proliferate in warm months when runoff was low. We recommend that HCBs in QRE TFZ can be mitigated by increasing river flow during hot–dry months in addition to watershed nutrient load reductions. An extreme heavy rainfall event in Henan Province (HnHRE) of central China in July 2021, which is jointly affected by the western Pacific subtropical high (WPSH) and Typhoon In‐Fa (2021), is comprehensively studied through five experiments conducted using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF). The patterns of the WPSH, In‐Fa, and precipitation are well reproduced in the control experiment. The magnitude of potential vorticity (PV) anomaly associated with the WPSH (In‐Fa) is increased and decreased by 50% in the initial condition based on the piecewise PV inversion method, namely, SH150 and SH050 (TC150 and TC050), respectively. The analysis shows that the 54‐hr rainfall accumulations in TC150 and TC050 are reduced by 39.5% and 31.8%, respectively, more than 28.8% in SH150 and 20.1% in SH050, indicating that Typhoon In‐Fa plays a more critical role in the rainfall amplification than the WPSH. This result also confirms that the HnHRE occurs within the quite favorable configuration of WPSH and In‐Fa circulations. The WPSH and In‐Fa majorly control the meridional and zonal moisture transports, respectively. The diagnosis of moist ageostrophic ω $\omega $ turns out that diabatic heating is closely related to the vertical motion during the HnHRE. Besides, the heavy rainfall region is also closely attributed to the distributions of equivalent potential temperature and divergence. Objective: Mismatch between the femoral component and the resected surface is related to the postoperative clinical outcome. This study aimed to measure the morphometric features of the distal femoral resected surfaces in patients with osteoarthritis in southwestern China and to compare the measured morphometric data with six commonly used total knee arthroplasty (TKA) femoral components in China. Method: The computer tomography (CT) images of a total of 406 knees from 203 osteoarthritis patients who underwent TKA from January 2018 to December 2021 were imported into Mimics 21.0 software to reconstruct the three‐dimensional (3D) model of the femur. Morphometric data of the distal femoral resected surfaces were measured after the completion of simulated bone resection in the software. The data included the medial‐lateral (ML) dimension, anterior–posterior (AP) dimension, and the aspect ratio (AR) (AR = ML/AP), which were compared between genders with independent sample t‐tests. In addition, we plotted the scatter diagram of those morphometric data in Origin software, and the linear fits of ML versus AP and AR versus AP were performed and compared for the six femoral components commonly used in enrolled patients in China. Results: The mean ML dimension, the mean AP dimension, and the mean AR value measured for Chinese knees were 66.62 ± 4.57 mm, 58.10 ± 3.74 mm, and 1.15 ± 0.06 respectively. All dimensions were significantly larger in males than in females, including the calculated values for AR (P < 0.05). The fitted lines for males showed that the ML dimensions tended to be wider compared to femoral components of a given AP dimension. Females tended to have wider ML dimensions compared to small femoral components and, on the other hand, narrower ML dimensions compared to large femoral components. Conclusion: The femoral component of the current commonly used TKA prosthesis in China may not be perfectly matched to the distal femoral resected surface of patients in southwestern China. Male patients tended to underhang in all dimensions of the ML dimension. Female patients with shorter AP lengths are more likely to experience underhang, whereas those with longer AP lengths are more likely to develop overhangs. Rationale and Objectives: We aim to assess the performance of the Gail model and the fifth edition of ultrasound BI‐RADS (Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System) in breast cancer for predicting axillary lymph node metastasis (ALNM). Materials and Methods: We prospectively studied 958 female patients with breast cancer between 2018 and 2019 from 35 hospitals in China. Based on B‐mode, color Doppler, and elastography, radiologists classified the degree of suspicion based on the fifth edition of BI‐RADS. Individual breast cancer risk was assessed with the Gail model. The association between the US BI‐RADS category and the Gail model in terms of ALNM was analyzed. Results: We found that US BI‐RADS category was significantly and independently associated with ALNM (P < 0.001). The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of BI‐RADS category 5 for predicting ALNM were 63.6%, 71.6%, and 68.6%, respectively. Combining the Gail model with the BI‐RADS category showed a significantly higher sensitivity than using the BI‐RADS category alone (67.8% vs. 63.6%, P < 0.001). The diagnostic accuracy of the BI‐RADS category combined with the Gail model was better than that of the Gail model alone (area under the curve: 0.71 vs. 0.50, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Based on the conventional ultrasound and elastography, the fifth edition of ultrasound BI‐RADS category could be used to predict the ALNM of breast cancer. ALNM was likely to occur in patients with BI‐RADS category 5. The Gail model could improve the diagnostic sensitivity of the US BI‐RADS category for predicting ALNM in breast cancer. Background: The present study aimed to investigate the function of miR‐3529‐3p in lung adenocarcinoma and MnO2‐SiO2‐APTES (MSA) as a promising multifunctional delivery agent for lung adenocarcinoma therapy. Methods: Expression levels of miR‐3529‐3p were evaluated in lung carcinoma cells and tissues by qRT‐PCR. The effects of miR‐3529‐3p on apoptosis, proliferation, metastasis and neovascularization were assessed by CCK‐8, FACS, transwell and wound healing assays, tube formation and xenografts experiments. Luciferase reporter assays, western blot, qRT‐PCR and mitochondrial complex assay were used to determine the targeting relationship between miR‐3529‐3p and hypoxia‐inducible gene domain family member 1A (HIGD1A). MSA was fabricated using MnO2 nanoflowers, and its heating curves, temperature curves, IC50, and delivery efficiency were examined. The hypoxia and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production was investigated by nitro reductase probing, DCFH‐DA staining and FACS. Results: MiR‐3529‐3p expression was reduced in lung carcinoma tissues and cells. Transfection of miR‐3529‐3p could promote apoptosis and suppress cell proliferation, migration and angiogenesis. As a target of miR‐3529‐3p, HIGD1A expression was downregulated, through which miR‐3529‐3p could disrupt the activities of complexes III and IV of the respiratory chain. The multifunctional nanoparticle MSA could not only efficiently deliver miR‐3529‐3p into cells, but also enhance the antitumor function of miR‐3529‐3p. The underlying mechanism may be that MSA alleviates hypoxia and has synergistic effects in cellular ROS promotion with miR‐3529‐3p. Conclusions: Our results establish the antioncogenic role of miR‐3529‐3p, and demonstrate that miR‐3529‐3p delivered by MSA has enhanced tumor suppressive effects, probably through elevating ROS production and thermogenesis. Aim: With industrialization and spread of the westernized lifestyle, the number of people affected by non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)/non‐alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is growing rapidly in China; this has become a major public health concern. To better understand the burden and characteristics of NAFLD/NASH in China, we aim to perform a narrative review of the literature published in this field. Materials and Methods: We carried out a comprehensive electronic search of five English‐language and three Chinese‐language databases, to identify studies regarding NAFLD or NASH published from inception to November 30, 2022. Epidemiological studies of NAFLD/NASH in China were particularly noticed and summarized. We also searched the www.clinicaltrials.gov and www.chictr.org.cn websites for the registered trials on the treatment of the disease led by Chinese investigators or located in China. Results: The increasing rate of NAFLD prevalence in China is strikingly high, reaching more than twice that in western countries. The prevalence of NAFLD is nearly 30% of the general Chinese population, making it the leading cause of chronic liver diseases. The prevalence of NAFLD/NASH varies between provinces/regions, age groups, sexes, and individuals with different metabolic profiles. NAFLD co‐exists in many Chinese patients with chronic hepatitis B. Since 2020, more Chinese studies have used the term metabolic‐associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), emphasizing the underlying metabolic disorders that occur concurrently with this disease. Several clinical trials involving lifestyle interventions, antidiabetic drugs, or traditional Chinese medicines, registered by Chinese investigators, have been completed or are ongoing. Moreover, several innovative targeted therapies developed in China are revolutionizing the treatment of NAFLD/NASH. Conclusions: NAFLD has cast a heavy burden on the Chinese healthcare system.
