This article discusses a case of Occult Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA), a rare variant of GCA that primarily affects the eyes. The patient, an 82-year-old Scandinavian woman, presented with visual disturbances and was initially diagnosed with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NA-AION). However, further evaluation revealed bilateral optic disc swelling and halo-signs in the temporal arteries, confirming the diagnosis of GCA. Treatment with corticosteroids led to stabilization of the patient's vision. The article emphasizes the importance of ultrasound examinations in detecting Occult GCA, especially in asymptomatic patients or those at risk due to age or demographic factors.
