IMP‐3 expression is a poor prognostic factor of melanomas and it promotes melanoma cell migration and invasion by a pathway modulating HMGA2 mRNA expression. We tried to identify other putative targets of IMP‐3. We identified putative IMP‐3‐binding RNAs, including AKT1, MAPK3, RB1 and RELA, by RNA immunoprecipitation coupled with next‐generation sequencing. IMP‐3 overexpression increased AKT and RELA levels in MeWo cells. siRNAs against AKT1 and RELA inhibited MeWo/Full‐length IMP‐3 cell migration. IMP‐3 knockdown of A2058 cells decreased AKT1 and RELA expression and lowered migration ability. Co‐transfection of A2058 cells with AKT1‐ or RELA‐expressing plasmids with IMP‐3 siRNA restored the inhibitory effects of IMP‐3 knockdown on migration. HMGA2 did not influence AKT1 and RELA expression in melanoma cells. Human melanoma samples with high IMP‐3 levels also showed high HMGA2, AKT1 and RELA expression. Highly photoluminescent, lead‐free perovskites are of interest for displays and solid‐state light‐emitting devices. In this report, streak camera‐based time‐resolved emission and transient absorption spanning visible to deep‐ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths are utilized to study self‐trapped and free exciton dynamics in vacuum‐deposited cesium copper halide thin films of CsCu2I3 and Cs3Cu2I5. Self‐trapped exciton emission of CsCu2I3 exhibits more noticeable changes with time in the peak position and width than Cs3Cu2I5. UV‐to‐blue emission is detectable for both compositions, where free exciton emission is distinct for CsCu2I3. Transient absorption shows loss of ground‐state bleach signals at early time delays for both, and the bleach signal shifts toward higher energy as time delay increases, likely due to strains induced by the newly created self‐trapped excitons. Global analysis performed on the transient absorption results yields time constants in these materials that build an overall dynamic scheme. The application of CGH display technology to AR multi‐depth head‐up displays is a very popular research topic nowadays. However, the system implementation requires multiple projection devices or spatial light modulators with Freeform Mirror or complex optical mechanisms to present multi‐depth projection of automotive head‐up display, which does not meet the development needs in terms of system size and cost. Thus, it is worthwhile to investigate how to realize a multi‐depth projection head‐up display system with a single spatial light modulator. The development of artificial synapses is inspired by the energy‐efficient recognition ability of the central nervous system of living organisms and is proposed for use as the basic building units of next‐generation neuromorphic computing networks. Herein, the perovskite/MoO3/Ag synaptic device exhibits very uniform electrical characteristics, a low operation voltage, and linear and repeatable analog switching. Important synaptic functions such as paired‐pulse facilitation (PPF) and short‐ and long‐term potentiation (STP/LTP) are all successfully and stably implemented in the device. The diffusion of Ag+ and I− ions is believed to contribute to the synaptic behavior of the device. Furthermore, the uniform and stable volatile characteristics are utilized in a proof‐of‐concept reservoir‐computing‐based simulation program using all the experimental parameters; the results strongly suggest that the neuromorphic computing that utilizes such components can simultaneously reduce the circuitry complexity and increase its recognition accuracy with noisy inputs. The findings of this work promise to significantly facilitate the utilization of highly homogeneous vacuum‐deposited perovskite/metal oxide structures in high‐performance neuromorphic computing systems. Next‐generation photovoltaic technologies such as dye‐sensitized solar cells, organic thin‐film photovoltaics and perovskite solar cells are promising to efficiently harvest ambient light energy. However, more and deeper understanding of their photovoltaic characteristics is essential to create new applications under room light illumination. In this study, for the first time, the difference in temperature coefficients and angular dependence of photovoltaic parameters for the large‐area devices are investigated systematically under the compact fluorescent lamp and light‐emitting diode light. These emerging photovoltaic devices, compared with the single crystalline silicon solar cells, not only have higher open‐circuit voltage (up to approximate 1 V) and better power conversion efficiency (in the range of 9.2% ~ 22.6%) but also exhibit less temperature dependent voltage and output power (< −0.6% °C−1), as well as broader angular response (over 75 degrees). The state‐of‐the‐art dye‐sensitized and organic thin‐film devices also show advantageously positive temperature coefficients of current, and the latter even has positive thermal dependence of fill factor. These features suggest the next‐generation photovoltaic devices are more favorable than the conventional crystalline silicon solar cells for real‐life indoor applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Multi‐l‐arginyl‐poly‐l‐aspartic acid (MAPA), also known as cyanophycin, can incorporate lysine into the side‐chain position of arginine when being prepared with recombinant Escherichia coli. The soluble fraction (sMAPA) is known to display both lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and upper critical solution temperature (UCST) responses at the physiological condition. In an attempt to alter the UCST thermal response, maltodextrin was employed to conjugate onto the amine group of lysine of sMAPA via the formation of Schiff base. In phosphate buffered saline, the UCST of the conjugates appeared around 50–62°C, depending on the extent of conjugation. In contrast to the unmodified sMAPA, the UCST of the conjugate became independent of pH ranging from 1 to 11. Heating the conjugate solution to complete transparent caused a delayed and partial recovery of the original turbidity during subsequent cooling. However, the turbidity can be restored by further precipitation with ethanol or isopropanol followed lyophilization and re‐dissolution. Based on developing novel head‐mounted display device with computer generated hologram (CGH), a prototype system of head‐mounted holographic display is presented with multi‐depth and augmented reality (AR) technology. The system adopts modified Gerchberg‐Saxton algorithm (MGSA) to produce the computer generated pahse‐only function (CGPOF), then the information will be transform to image by LCoS. And the diffraction images are transferred through beam splitter to the retina. Furthermore, the proposed system could achieve multi‐depth by using human eyes focus and zoom mechanism. The order Hymenochaetales of white rot fungi contain some of the most aggressive wood decayers causing tree deaths around the world. Despite their ecological importance and the impact of diseases they cause, little is known about the evolution and transmission patterns of these pathogens. Here, we sequenced and undertook comparative genomic analyses of Hymenochaetales genomes using brown root rot fungus Phellinus noxius, wood-decomposing fungus Phellinus lamaensis, laminated root rot fungus Phellinus sulphurascens and trunk pathogen Porodaedalea pini. Many gene families of lignin-degrading enzymes were identified from these fungi, reflecting their ability as white rot fungi. Comparing against distant fungi highlighted the expansion of 1,3-beta-glucan synthases in P. noxius, which may account for its fast-growing attribute. We identified 13 linkage groups conserved within Agaricomycetes, suggesting the evolution of stable karyotypes. We determined that P. noxius has a bipolar heterothallic mating system, with unusual highly expanded ~60 kb A locus as a result of accumulating gene transposition. We investigated the population genomics of 60 P. noxius isolates across multiple islands of the Asia Pacific region. Whole-genome sequencing showed this multinucleate species contains abundant poly-allelic single nucleotide polymorphisms with atypical allele frequencies. Different patterns of intra-isolate polymorphism reflect mono-/heterokaryotic states which are both prevalent in nature. We have shown two genetically separated lineages with one spanning across many islands despite the geographical barriers. Both populations possess extraordinary genetic diversity and show contrasting evolutionary scenarios. Image quality has been a critical issue in holography‐related display, especially three‐dimensional display emphasizing reconstruction fidelity. An image optimization method combined with three‐dimensional modified Gerchberg‐Saxton algorithm (3D MGSA) and the tilted reconstruction projection system designed in this study is proposed to implement the high‐quality full‐color computer‐generated holography projection system. With the objective image quality analysis, it proves that the proposed image reconstruction optimization could largely improve the image quality with diffraction reconstruction computer‐generated holography in the past. ORA47 ( octadecanoid-responsive AP2/ERF-domain transcription factor 47) of Arabidopsis thaliana is an AP2/ERF domain transcription factor that regulates jasmonate (JA) biosynthesis and is induced by methyl JA treatment. The regulatory mechanism of ORA47 remains unclear. ORA47 is shown to bind to the cis-element (NC/GT)CGNCCA, which is referred to as the O-box, in the promoter of ABI2. We proposed that ORA47 acts as a connection between ABA INSENSITIVE1 ( ABI1) and ABI2 and mediates an ABI1-ORA47-ABI2 positive feedback loop., PORA47:ORA47-GFP transgenic plants were used in a chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assay to show that ORA47 participates in the biosynthesis and/or signaling pathways of nine phytohormones. Specifically, many abscisic acid (ABA) and JA biosynthesis and signaling genes were direct targets of ORA47 under stress conditions., The JA content of the P35S:ORA47-GR lines was highly induced under wounding and moderately induced under water stress relative to that of the wild-type plants. Identifying accurate biomarkers of cognitive decline is essential for advancing early diagnosis and prevention therapies in Alzheimer's disease. The Alzheimer's disease DREAM Challenge was designed as a computational crowdsourced project to benchmark the current state-of-the-art in predicting cognitive outcomes in Alzheimer's disease based on high dimensional, publicly available genetic and structural imaging data. This meta-analysis failed to identify a meaningful predictor developed from either data modality, suggesting that alternate approaches should be considered for prediction of cognitive performance. Comprehensive theoretical and experimental studies are reported on organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) adopting either the conventional high-index indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode or the low-index conducting polymer electrode, either isotropic emitters or emitters having preferentially horizontal emitting dipoles, and different layer structures. Intriguingly, with the use of low-index electrode in the device, in addition to the known suppression of waveguided modes, the surface plasmon modes can also be effectively suppressed with larger emitter-to-metal distances yet with better immunity to accompanied increase of the competing waveguided modes (induced by thicker organic layers) as in the ITO device. As a result, overall coupling efficiencies of OLED internal radiation into substrates can be significantly enhanced over those with ITO electrodes. Through effective extraction of radiation within substrates, green phosphorescent OLEDs adopting both the low-index ITO-free electrode and the preferentially horizontal dipole emitter (with a horizontal dipole ratio of 76%) achieve a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of up to ≈64%. The simulation also predicts that very high EQEs of ≥80% are possible with highly horizontal dipole emitters for all red/green/blue/white OLEDs, clearly revealing the potential of combining low-index transparent electrodes and horizontal dipole emitters for high-efficiency OLEDs. The use of photovoltaic cells with an organometallic perovskite as the active layer for indoor dim-light energy harvesting is evaluated. By designing the electron-transporting materials and fabrication processes, the traps in the perovskite active layers and carrier dynamics can be controlled, and efficient devices are demonstrated. The best-performing small-area perovskite photovoltaics exhibit a promising high power conversion efficiency up to 27.4%, no hysteresis behavior, and an exceptionally low maximum power point voltage variation of 0.1 V under fluorescent lamp illumination at 100-1000 lux. The 5.44 cm² large-area device also shows a high efficiency of 20.4% and a promising long-term stability. Compared with the most efficient inorganic and organic solar cells nowadays, the competitive efficiency, low fabrication cost, and low raw material costs make perovskite photovoltaics ideal for indoor light harvesting and as Internet of Things power provider. Etoposide (VP-16), a topoisomerase II inhibitor, is an effective anti-cancer drug used for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Resveratrol is a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound that has been proved to have anti-cancer activity. XRCC1 is an important scaffold protein involved in base excision repair that is regulated by ERK1/2 and AKT signals and plays an important role in the development of lung cancer. However, the role of ERK1/2 and AKT-mediated XRCC1 expression in etoposide treatment alone or combined with resveratrol-induced cytotoxicity in NSCLC cells has not been identified. In this study, etoposide treatment increased XRCC1 mRNA and protein expression through AKT and ERK1/2 activation in two NSCLC cells, H1703 and H1975. Knockdown of XRCC1 in NSCLC cells by transfection of XRCC1 siRNA or inactivation of ERK1/2 and AKT resulted in enhancing cytotoxicity and cell growth inhibition induced by etoposide. Resveratrol inhibited the expression of XRCC1 and enhanced the etoposide-induced cell death and anti-proliferation effect in NSCLC cells. Furthermore, transfection with constitutive active MKK1 or AKT vectors could rescue the XRCC1 protein level and also the cell survival suppressed by co-treatment with etoposide and resveratrol. Many causal mutations of intellectual disability have been found in genes involved in epigenetic regulations. Replication-independent deposition of the histone H3.3 variant by the HIRA complex is a prominent nucleosome replacement mechanism affecting gene transcription, especially in postmitotic neurons. However, how HIRA-mediated H3.3 deposition is regulated in these cells remains unclear. Here, we report that dBRWD3, the Drosophila ortholog of the intellectual disability gene BRWD3, regulates gene expression through H3.3, HIRA, and its associated chaperone Yemanuclein ( YEM), the fly ortholog of mammalian Ubinuclein1. In dBRWD3 mutants, increased H3.3 levels disrupt gene expression, dendritic morphogenesis, and sensory organ differentiation. Inactivation of yem or H3.3 remarkably suppresses the global transcriptome changes and various developmental defects caused by dBRWD3 mutations. Background Postoperative nausea and vomiting ( PONV) is a common complication after pediatric strabismus surgery. Steroids and ondansetron (a 5- HT3 antagonist) can effectively reduce nausea, vomiting, and pain and thus might be useful agents for the prevention of PONV in pediatric patients. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials ( RCTs) to evaluate the prophylactic effects of dexamethasone and ondansetron on PONV after strabismus surgery in pediatric patients. Methods A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify RCTs that investigated the efficacy and safety of intravenous dexamethasone or ondansetron on PONV in pediatric strabismus surgical patients. The primary outcome was the incidence of PONV during the initial 24 postoperative hours. The secondary outcomes were number of patients requiring a rescue antiemetic and complications. Results We included 13 RCTs that evaluated 2006 patients. In the two studies that compared dexamethasone and placebo treatments, POV occurred in 34.3% (23/67) of the patients in the dexamethasone group and in 68.2% (45/66) of the patients in the placebo group. The difference between the two groups was significant ( RR 0.50; 95% confidence interval ( CI) 0.34-0.72). Similarly, seven studies that compared ondansetron and a placebo identified a relatively lower incidence of PONV in the ondansetron group (103/277, 37.2%) than in the placebo group (177/270, 65.6%). The difference between the two groups was also significant ( RR 0.58; 95% CI 0.43-0.79). The combination of dexamethasone and ondansetron was significantly more effective at reducing the incidence of POV than dexamethasone or ondansetron alone. In all included RCTs, experimental drug-related complications, such as facial flushing and headache, were limited. Conclusions Surgeons and anesthesiologists are recommended to administer the combination of dexamethasone and ondansetron to pediatric patients undergoing strabismus surgery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We report the spectra of UV-vis absorption, emission and excitation for fluoro-substituted triscarbene iridium complexes fac-tris(1-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-methylimidazolin-2-ylidene-C,C2′) iridium(III), fac-Ir(fpmi)3, and fac-tris(1-(2,4-fluorophenyl)-3-methyl imidazolin-2-ylidene-C,C2′ ) iridium(III), fac-Ir(dfpmi)3. The decay of emission and transient absorption curves at 266-nm excitation in the singlet metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) band region are recorded. Using quantum chemical calculations-density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) method B3LYP, we obtained their optimized geometries, electronic structures, energies of vertical transitions and oscillator strengths. Both complexes emit in deep blue/near UV which has the highest emission energy for iridium complexes. These emission bands display vibronic structure and a small rigidochromic shift in the low-temperature. From the measured lifetime data and the emission quantum yield, we obtain a radiative rate constant kr 2.2-2.4 × 104 s−1 for the emitting state and assign the emitting state to 3π-π* for these complexes. In subpicosecond transient absorption, we observed an ultrafast rise implying that crossing rate from 1MLCT to this ligand-centered T1/T2 3π-π* state is faster than our temporal resolution (300 fs)−1. Two components appear with time constants 0.7-1.5 ps and 15-47 ps and are assigned to vibrational cooling/solvation and geometry relaxation, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study presents a look-ahead release planning approach on the basis of AutoMod simulation model for a sixth-generation thin film transistor liquid crystal display color filter (CF) fab in north Taiwan. The studied CF fab has two identical lines with the processes of black matrix (BM), color layer [red, green, and blue (RGB)], indium tin oxide, and photo spacer (PS). These two lines share two supporting processes, multi-domain vertical alignment (MVA) and laboratory (LAB). MVA has the capability and flexibility to provide the functions of RGB and PS, whereas LAB can provide the functions of BM and RGB. The production release planning becomes cornplex because of the equipment flexibility in supporting each other. An AutoMod simulation mode[ is therefore developed and validated using real data from the fab. The AutoMod simulation model is well representative of the real system with less than 10% difference in throughput in all production stations. Using simulation to look ahead, a production controller can predict potential equipment idleness and make adjustment to better utilize equipment capacity. Erythropoietin (EPO), the key hormone for erythropoiesis, also increases nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability in endothelial cells (ECs), yet the definitive mechanisms are not fully understood. Increasing evidence has demonstrated that β common receptor (βCR) plays a crucial role in EPO-mediated non-hematopoietic effects. We investigated the role of βCR in EPO-induced endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) activation in bovine aortic ECs (BAECs) and the molecular mechanisms involved. Results of confocal microscopy and immunoprecipitation analyses revealed that βCR was colocalized and interacted with EPO receptor (EPOR) in ECs. Inhibition of βCR or EPOR by neutralizing antibodies or small interfering RNA abolished the EPO-induced NO production. Additionally, blockage of βCR abrogated the EPO-induced increase in the phosphorylation of eNOS, Akt, Src, or Janus kinase 2 (JAK2). Immunoprecipitation analysis revealed that treatment with EPO increased the interaction between βCR and eNOS, which was suppressed by inhibition of Src, JAK2, or Akt signaling with specific pharmacological inhibitors. Furthermore, EPO-induced EC proliferation, migration, and tube formation were blocked by pretreatment with βCR antibody and Src, JAK2, or PI3K/Akt inhibitors. Moreover, in vivo experiments showed that EPO increased the level of phosphorylated eNOS, Src, JAK2, and Akt, as well as βCR-eNOS association in aortas and promoted the angiogenesis in Matrigel plug, which was diminished by βCR or EPOR neutralizing antibodies. Although viral loads are known to influence the development of hepatitis B virus-induced hepatocellular carcinoma in a number of populations, little information is available in the Black African population. Black African patients with hepatocellular carcinoma differ from those in other populations in having a lower frequency of e antigen-positivity and in other respects that might affect viral loads. Hepatitis B viral loads were measured using real-time polymerase chain reaction assay in 124 Black Africans with hepatocellular carcinoma and compared with those in 125 Black adult asymptomatic viral carriers. The geometric mean viral load in the cancer patients was 553,618 copies/ml (95% CI 301,953-1,015,033 copies/ml), with 62.1% having loads >1 × 105 copies/ml and 87.1% >1 × 104 copies/ml, whereas that in the carriers was 16,084 copies/ml (95% CI 9,184-28,168 copies/ml), with only 15.2% having values >1 × 105 copies/ml and 49.6% >1 × 104 copies/ml ( P < 0.001 in each instance). Mean viral load was significantly higher in e antigen-positive than e antigen-negative cancer patients (5,905,357 copies/ml [1,362,847-25,588,520] cf 238,173 copies/ml [97,200-685,730]: P < 0.001) after adjusting for age and sex. No statistically significant difference existed between patients in different age groups, in men and women, or in patients infected with genotype A or D after adjusting for the other variables. Conclusion: Black Africans with hepatocellular carcinoma have high hepatitis B viral loads in spite of the relative infrequency of e antigen-positivity. J. Med. A wide viewing angle light‐field holographic display system is proposed in this study. The phase information of the sub image is modulated with the Modified Gerchberg‐Saxton algorithm (MGSA). With the angular multiplexing, it can provide different viewing angle images, and merge all sub phase information into image array. The multi‐angle hologram is reconstructed with the micro lens array, and the field of view in this system is ±10°. In this study, the combination of light‐field display and angular multiplexing CGH is successful to solve the limitation of view‐angle and the effect of crosstalk caused by image overlap. The novel growth of cesium lead halide perovskite thin films, which are prepared through thousand‐layer rapid alternative deposition, is performed by developing an active perovskite film consisting of a layer‐by‐layer structure. This method is considerably more difficult to be implemented from the solution process. The obtained thin film morphology and characteristics are distinguished from that of the traditional a few layers and two‐material codeposition. These alternative deposited perovskites are integrated with vacuum‐deposited carrier‐transporting layers and electrodes, and all vacuum‐sublimed perovskite solar cells exhibit an outstanding power conversion efficiency of 13.0%. The use of these devices for environmental light energy harvesting provides a power conversion efficiency of 33.9% under fluorescent light illumination of 1000 lux. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An optimized tunable‐depth augmented reality wearable system is proposed in this article. The augmented reality projection system is used tunable lenses combination, which can provide the correct depth and image size to avoid the accommodation conflict and miss‐focusing issue. Based on MGSA, the holography display system is proposed in this study, and the eyepiece is designed according to suitable wearing parameters. Besides, images computed with MGSA could be proceeded optical reconstruction without lenses to reduce the use of optical elements.
