Aims Background Methods Results Conclusions Implications for nursing practice and health policy This study aims to explore the association between the implementation of the adverse event reporting system (AERS), burnout, and job satisfaction among psychiatric nurses, with a focus on examining the mediating effect of workplace violence from patients.Many organizational and personal factors contribute to burnout and job satisfaction experienced by nurses. AERS, serving as a key component of organizational‐level quality improvement system, impacts the overall workplace wellness of nurses.A national sample of 9,744 psychiatric nurses from 41 psychiatric hospitals across 29 provinces in China participated. Burnout was measured by the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Job satisfaction was measured using the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. Workplace violence was assessed by nurses’ experience of verbal and physical violence. Multilevel linear regression analyses were carried out to examine if AERS impacts burnout and job satisfaction and to identify the mediating role of workplace violence.AERS was positively associated with job satisfaction, but negatively with burnout and workplace violence. Workplace violence exhibited a positive association with burnout and a negative association with job satisfaction. Mediation analyses indicated that the associations between AERS, burnout, and job satisfaction were mediated by workplace violence.The application of AERS is associated with a reduction in workplace violence in hospitals, which contributes to the diminished burnout and heightened job satisfaction among psychiatric nurses.The study highlights the importance of organizational efforts and mechanisms in promoting nurses’ well‐being. The "hotness" or "coldness" of the tumors are determined by the information of the cancer cells themselves, tumor immune characteristics, tumor microenvironment, and signaling mechanisms, which are key factors affecting cancer patients' clinical efficacy. The switch mechanism of "hotness" and "coldness" and its corresponding pathological characteristics and treatment strategies are the frontier and hot spot of tumor treatment. How to distinguish the "hotness" or "coldness" effectively and clarify the causes, microenvironment state, and characteristics are very important for the tumor response and efficacy treatments. Starting from the concept of hot and cold tumor, this review systematically summarized the molecular characteristics, influencing factors, and therapeutic strategies of "hot and cold tumors," and analyzed the immunophenotypes, the tumor microenvironment, the signaling pathways, and the molecular markers that contribute to "hot and cold tumors" in details. Different therapeutic strategies for "cold and hot tumors" based on clinical efficacy were analyzed with drug targets and proteins for "cold and hot tumors." Furthermore, this review combines the therapeutic strategies of different "hot and cold tumors" with traditional medicine and modern medicine, to provide a basis and guidance for clinical decision‐making of cancer treatment. Anise fruit (Aniseed) has been used for many years as a traditional medicine in various countries throughout the world; however, the chemical material basis of Aniseed water extract (AWE) has not been examined in detail, limiting our understanding of its pharmacological mechanism and methods for practical quality control. A high‐efficiency and high‐sensitivity LC‐triple time‐of‐flight tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) analysis method using data processing method combined with product ion and neutral loss filtering for systematic screening and identification of the constituents of AWE was established. A quantitative method was established by using LC–MS/MS with multiple reaction monitoring for 10 min to determine the concentration of 17 representative constituents. A total of 89 compounds were discovered in AWE, of which 31 were confirmed by the reference standards, while 24 were found in Aniseed for the first time. The qualification analysis results showed that chlorogenic acids and luteolin derivatives were the major compounds. The linearity, sensitivity, precision, stability, repeatability, and accuracy of the method were verified, which demonstrated that the method could meet the requirements for quantification. This work contributes to a better understanding of the chemical material basis of Aniseed and assists in the development of effective analytical methods for natural medicines. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: High‐intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is currently used for the treatment of various diseases, but it still lacks a reliable technique in the preoperative stage to accurately place its "energy blade" onto diseased targets. Acoustic radiation force imaging (ARFI) was recently introduced to tackle this issue, but its applicability and limitations were not clear. Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of ARFI method in prediction of HIFU focal location at the preoperative stage. Methods: A point spread function (PSF) localization method, which was borrowed from the ultrasound super resolution field, was used to validate the core autocorrelation‐based motion estimation algorithm in the ARFI procedure. Accuracy of the ARFI method for estimating the HIFU focus were tested with in vitro and ex vivo experiments with a clinically equivalent HIFU system. Comparisons were made between the estimated focal locations and those of the damaged area after the testing objects were cut open. Results: Results showed that the PSF localization was able to serve as a validating method for motion detection only when the tissue displacement was large. With the ARFI method, location of the HIFU focus could be accurately predicted by a 2D motion map preoperatively, and the axial spatial errors were less than 0.5 mm. However, the derived 2D motion maps can only be valuable when the acoustic stimulation in ARFI were strong enough, which was probably due to the fact that the HIFU focal locations were at large depths and the ultrasound imaging signal had low signal to noise ratio. Conclusion: The ARFI method was indeed an accurate technique for preoperatively predicting HIFU focus in vitro and ex vivo. If clinical applications were to be considered, particularly in deep tissues, efforts might need to be made to improve ability of the ultrasound motion estimation technique. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Based on the difference in the reaction rate of different groups of urea‐formaldehyde resins and isocyanate resins, this study designed two different urea‐formaldehyde resins: a normal urea‐formaldehyde resin (UF) and one with high mono‐hydroxymethylurea content (UF*) to react with polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (pMDI) resin. The difference in mono‐ and di‐hydroxymethyl urea content between UF and UF* resins was analyzed by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and results showed that the mono‐hydroxymethyl urea content of the UF* resin was much higher than that of the conventional UF resin. The fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) analysis of differences between UF* and UF resin showed that the UF* process did not change the main structure of the conventional urea formaldehyde resin. Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) analysis showed that the curing temperature of the hybrid UF*‐pMDI resin was reduced 27.3°C compared to that of the UF‐pMDI resin. When these hybrid resins were used to bond plywood respectively, test results showed that the UF*‐pMDI resin improved the dry and wet bonding strength by 2.6% and 3.9%, respectively, compared with the UF‐pMDI resin under the condition of hot pressing time (3 min) and temperature (140°C), meeting the requirement of Chinese standard of GB/T 9846–2015 for Class III board. Background: To investigate the interchromosomal effect (ICE) in chromosome translocation carriers. Methods: Data on preimplantation genetic testing aneuploidy and structural rearrangements (translocation) were retrospectively collected and classified into a reciprocal translocation group, a Robertsonian translocation group and a control group. According to the carrier's gender and age, all cases underwent further subgroup difference analysis of de novo abnormal embryo rates and the number of chromosomes involved in de novo abnormal embryos. Results: Among the 283 couples who participated in this study, 1076 blastocysts from 352 cycles were collected, and 246 de novo abnormal embryos were included. There was a significant difference in the rate of de novo abnormal embryos among the three groups (p <.05) but no significant difference in the number of de novo abnormal chromosomes in the abnormal embryos (p >.05). Gender and age (classified by 35 years old) had no effect on the de novo abnormal embryo ratios among the translocation carriers (p >.05). However, the de novo abnormal ratio increased with age. The embryo constitution reflected no significant difference between the translocation groups (p >.05). Conclusion: The ICE was detected for the translocation carriers. The de novo abnormal embryo ratio increased with age. Gender had no effect on the de novo abnormal embryo ratio. Translocation status played a more important role than age and gender. Inhibitors are widely considered an efficient tool for reducing nitrogen (N) loss and improving N use efficiency, but their effectiveness is highly variable across agroecosystems. In this study, we synthesized 182 studies (222 sites) worldwide to evaluate the impacts of inhibitors (urease inhibitors [UI], nitrification inhibitors [NI] and combined inhibitors) on crop yields and gaseous N loss (ammonia [NH3] and nitrous oxide [N2O] emissions) and explored their responses to different management and environmental factors including inhibitor application timing, fertilization regime, cropping system, water management, soil properties and climatic conditions using subgroup meta‐analysis, meta‐regression and multivariate analyses. The UI were most effective in enhancing crop yields (by 5%) and reducing NH3 volatilization (by 51%), whereas NI were most effective at reducing N2O emissions (by 49%). The application of UI mitigates NH3 loss and increases crop yields especially in high NH3‐N loss scenarios, whereas NI application would minimize the net N2O emissions and the resultant environmental impacts especially in low NH3‐N loss scenarios. Alternatively, the combined application of UI and NI enables producers to balance crop production and environmental conservation goals without pollution tradeoffs. The inhibitor efficacy for decreasing gaseous N loss was dependent upon soil and climatic conditions and management practices. Notably, both meta‐regression and multivariate analyses suggest that inhibitors provide a greater opportunity for reducing fertilizer N inputs in high‐N‐surplus systems and presumably favor crop yield enhancement under soil N deficiency situations. The pursuit of an improved understanding of the interactions between plant‐soil‐climate‐management systems and different types of inhibitors should continue to optimize the effectiveness of inhibitors for reducing environmental losses while increasing productivity. Jatropha seeds flour is by‐product from the production of biomass diesel, which mainly composed of proteins and oligomeric carbohydrates. To create an environmentally friendly, low‐cost, and well performance adhesive for plywood bonding, the Jatropha seeds flour was used to prepare a protein‐based adhesives by oxidized with sodium periodate (NaIO4) and potassium permanganate (KMnO4) at room temperature in this present work. The effect of two oxidizing agents on the bonding strength and water resistance were investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry, and dynamic thermomechanical analysis were combined to study the thermal performance of this bio‐based adhesives, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy was to characterize structural changes in the reaction process. The results show that the Jatropha protein adhesives oxidized by NaIO4 exhibited a good dry strength, but not on the 24 h cold water soaking wet strength and 3 h hot water (63°C) soaking wet strength. While the performance of the adhesive with KMnO4 oxidation treatment has significantly improved, especially the wet strength of 24 h cold water soaking and 3 h hot water (63°C) soaking as high as 0.84 MPa, 0.77 MPa respectively, which conformed to the standard requirement of GB/T9846‐2015 (≥0.7 MPa). Thus, the Potassium permanganate (KMnO4) oxidant was favored for Jatropha protein oxidation to prepare a protein adhesives, and its preparation process has been studied also in this work, meanwhile, the optimal oxidant addition ratio was confirmed as 12% based on the protein flour. Aim: The aim of this study is to explore the use of the Questionnaire Appraisal System with a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods in cognitive interviewing for cross‐cultural adaptation. Design: This is a descriptive methodological study. Methods: Using the Mandarin version of the Post‐Stroke Checklist as an example, cognitive interviews were conducted with 27 stroke survivors in Guangzhou between November 2020 and February 2021. The Questionnaire Appraisal System was applied as a codebook in focus group discussions to perform quantitative data collections and quantitative content analysis. Results: Thirty‐eight problems were proposed in focus group discussions and identified all but four of the 30 questions that emerged in the cognitive interviews. A new item was added to the Questionnaire Appraisal System for better categorization. Four categories and six subcategories of problems in the checklist were revealed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Aims: Cirrhosis is characterized by extensive fibrosis of the liver and is a major cause of liver‐related mortality. Cirrhosis is partially heritable but genetic contributions to cirrhosis have not been systemically explored. Here, we carry out association analyses with cirrhosis in two large biobanks and determine the effects of cirrhosis associated variants on multiple human disease/traits. Methods: We carried out a genome‐wide association analysis of cirrhosis as a diagnosis in UK BioBank (UKBB; 1088 cases vs. 407 873 controls) and then tested top‐associating loci for replication with cirrhosis in a hospital‐based cohort from the Michigan Genomics Initiative (MGI; 875 cases of cirrhosis vs. 30 346 controls). For replicating variants or variants previously associated with cirrhosis that also affected cirrhosis in UKBB or MGI, we determined single nucleotide polymorphism effects on all other diagnoses in UKBB (PheWAS), common metabolic traits/diseases and serum/plasma metabolites. Results: Unbiased genome‐wide association study identified variants in/near PNPLA3 and HFE, and candidate variant analysis identified variants in/near TM6SF2, MBOAT7, SERPINA1, HSD17B13, STAT4 and IFNL4 that reproducibly affected cirrhosis. Most affected liver enzyme concentrations and/or aspartate transaminase‐to‐platelet ratio index. PheWAS, metabolic trait and serum/plasma metabolite association analyses revealed effects of these variants on lipid, inflammatory and other processes including new effects on many human diseases and traits. Conclusions: We identified eight loci that reproducibly associate with population‐based cirrhosis and define their diverse effects on human diseases and traits. The specific mechanisms underlying cyclin‐dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5)‐mediated neuropathic pain at the spinal cord level remain elusive. The aim of the present study was to explore the role of crosstalk between Cdk5/p35 and extracellular signal‐regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) signalling in mediating spinal astrocyte activity via the PPARγ pathway in a rat model of chronic constriction injury (CCI). Here, we quantified pain behaviour after CCI; detected the localization of p35, Cdk5, phosphorylated ERK1/2 (pERK1/2), phosphorylated peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor γ (pPPARγ), neuronal nuclei (a neuronal marker), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP, an activated astrocyte marker) and ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule 1 (a microglial marker) in the dorsal horn using immunofluorescence; measured the protein levels of Cdk5, p35, pERK1/2, pPPARγ and GFAP using western blot analysis; and gauged the enzyme activity of Cdk5/p35 kinase using a Cdk5/p35 kinase activity assay kit. Tumour necrosis factor‐α, interleukin (IL)‐1β and IL‐6 levels were measured using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ligation of the right sciatic nerve induced mechanical allodynia; thermal hyperalgesia; and the time‐dependent upregulation of p35, pERK1/2 and GFAP and downregulation of pPPARγ. p35 colocalized with Cdk5, pERK1/2, pPPARγ, neurons and astrocytes but not microglia. Meanwhile, intrathecal injection of the Cdk5 inhibitor roscovitine, the mitogen‐activated ERK kinase (MEK) inhibitor U0126 and the PPARγ agonist pioglitazone prevented or reversed behavioural allodynia, increased pPPARγ expression, inhibited astrocyte activation and alleviated proinflammatory cytokine (tumour necrosis factor‐α, IL‐1β, and IL‐6) release from activated astrocytes. Furthermore, crosstalk between the Cdk5/p35 and ERK1/2 pathways was observed with CCI. Blockade of either Cdk5/p35 or ERK1/2 inhibited Cdk5 activity. These findings indicate that spinal crosstalk between the Cdk5/p35 and ERK1/2 pathways mediates astrocyte activity via the PPARγ pathway in CCI rats and that targeting this crosstalk could be an effective strategy to attenuate CCI and astrocyte‐derived neuroinflammation. Diapause is an important characteristic of insects used to adapt to extreme changes in environmental conditions. Embryonic diapause of the bivoltine silkworm (Bombyx mori) is determined by environmental conditions experienced by the mother while in the embryo stage. If they are incubated at 25°C with natural light, their progenies will be diapause‐destined. If they are incubated at 17°C in darkness, their progenies will be non‐diapause‐destined. The molecular mechanism of diapause remains unknown. In the present study, we analyzed two downregulated genes (BGIBMGA003835, BGIBMGA012335) and two upregulated genes (BGIBMG012996, BGIBMG002426) related to carbohydrate metabolism, verified differentially expressed in ovaries and heads of 1‐day‐old fifth‐instar larvae to 6‐day pupae by quantitative real‐time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR). In line with published data, the expression level of these genes in larvae were generally lower than in pupae. We further analyzed the expression levels of the four genes in BmN cells that had been treated with various concentrations of diapause hormone (DH). It demonstrated that the expression of these genes was affected by DH. Knockdown of the selected genes in non‐diapause‐destined female pupae changed the fate of the progeny from non‐diapause‐ to daipause‐destined, as seen by the appearance of diapause eggs. Our study provides insight into the molecular mechanism of diapause in B. mori. The expression levels of BGIBMGA003835, BGIBMGA012335, BGIBMG012996 and BGIBMG002426 were different at diverse developmental stages. They can also be influenced by Bmo‐DH. Abstract: A simple and sensitive liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC‐ESI‐MS/MS) method was developed and validated for determination of two highly lipophilic anticancer drug candidates, LG1980 and GH501, in rat plasma and tissues (liver, kidney and femur bones). LG1980 and GH501 were extracted from rat plasma and tissue homogenates using liquid–liquid extraction. The method provided a linear range of 1.0–200.0 ng/mL for GH501 in plasma and LG1980 in plasma and liver. For both analytes in other tissue homogenates the linear range was 2.0–400.0 ng/mL. The method was validated with precision within 15% relative standard deviation, accuracy within 15% relative error and a consistent recovery. This method has been successfully applied in two preclinical studies for LG1980 and GH501 to determine their concentrations in rat plasma, liver, kidney and bone over 24 h after intravenous injection of compounds. Core Ideas: We examined the influence of flow velocity on transport of graphene oxide nanoparticles (GONPs).Attachment efficiency (α) increased with increasing flow velocity for GONPs.Hydrodynamic shear cannot release the attached GONPs, even from nanoscale asperities.Increasing flow velocity increased attachment of GONPs at concave surfaces. Saturated column experiments were conducted to systematically examine transport of graphene oxide nanoparticles (GONPs) in sand porous media at different solution ionic strengths (ISs) with different flow velocities. Results show that deposition of GONPs increase with decreasing IS. However, the Derjaguin–Landau–Verwey–Overbeek (DLVO) interaction energy calculations using a surface element integration technique show that the energy barrier increases with increasing IS for the sheet‐shaped colloids interacting with a planar sand surface. In contrast, the presence of nanoscale protruding asperities (NPAs) can cause a decrease in the energy barrier with increasing IS, which facilitates the attachment in primary minima at higher IS. At a given IS, increasing flow velocity increases attachment efficiency on the rough sand surfaces. Torque analysis shows that the maximum hydrodynamic torques are smaller than the adhesive torques, even for GONPs located on the NPAs where the adhesions are the lowest. Consequently, the attachment efficiency cannot be reduced by increasing flow velocity. Additional column experiments confirm that deposited GONPs cannot be detached by increasing flow velocity. Conversely, increase of flow velocity may enhance approaching of GONPs in low‐flow regions such as concave areas of sand surfaces and subsequent attachment. Although it has been recognized in the literature that the presence of NPAs can cause decrease of attachment efficiency with increasing flow velocity for spherical colloids under both unfavorable and favorable chemical conditions, our results highlight a different role of surface roughness in attachment and detachment of sheet‐shaped colloids under unfavorable conditions. We used Xenopus laevis oocytes, a paradigm for a variety of biological studies, as a eukaryotic model system for in-cell protein NMR spectroscopy. The small globular protein GB1 was one of the first studied in Xenopus oocytes, but there have been few reports since then of high-resolution spectra in oocytes. The scarcity of data is at least partly due to the lack of good labeling strategies and the paucity of information on resonance broadening mechanisms. Here, we systematically evaluate isotope enrichment and labeling methods in oocytes injected with five different proteins with molecular masses of 6 to 54 kDa. 19F labeling is more promising than 15N, 13C, and 2H enrichment. We also used 19F NMR spectroscopy to quantify the contribution of viscosity, weak interactions, and sample inhomogeneity to resonance broadening in cells. We found that the viscosity in oocytes is only about 1.2 times that of water, and that inhomogeneous broadening is a major factor in determining line width in these cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new organic small molecule, DCA3TBDF, with a 2D benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b']difuran (BDF) moiety as the central core and octyl cyanoacetate units as the end-capped blocks, was designed and synthesized for solution-processed bulk heterojunction solar cells. DCA3TBDF possesses good solubility in common organic solvents such as toluene, CH2Cl2, chlorobenzene, and CHCl3 and good thermal stability with an onset decomposition temperature with 5% weight-loss occurring at 361 °C. The DCA3TBDF thin film showed a broad absorption at λ=320-700 nm and high crystallinity. Small-molecule organic solar cells based on DCA3TBDF and [6,6]- phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester demonstrated promising power conversion efficiency with a high fill factor under the illumination of AM 1.5G (100 mWcm-2). ABSTRACT Poly{[2,7-(9,9-bis-(1-(2-(2-methoxyethoxy)ethoxy)ethyl)-fluorene)]-alt-[5,5-(4,7-di-2′-thienyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)]} (EO-PF-DTBT) was synthesized by Suzuki coupling reaction. The polymer is soluble in common organic solvent, such as toluene, THF, and chloroform, and it also shows solubility in polar solvent, such as cyclopentanone. Solar cells based on EO-PF-DTBT and PC61BM show maximum power conversion efficiency of 2.65% with an open circuit voltage ( VOC) of 0.86 V, a short circuit current density ( JSC) of 6.10 mA/cm2, and a fill factor of 51% under AM 1.5G illumination at 100 mW/cm2, which is the best results for fluorene and 4,7-di-2-thienyl-2,1,3-benzothiadiazole copolymers and PC61BM blend. The 1,8-diiodooctane can work well to reduce the over-aggregated phase structure in polymer solar cells. Our results suggest that the introducing high hydrophilic side chain into conjugated polymer donor materials can tune the aggregation structure and improve the solar cells performances. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. RATIONALE Acquiring global information on plasma-endogenous metabolites challenges metabolomics. This study has been designed to investigate the suitability of integrated ionization rapid-resolution liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (RRLC/MS/MS) for different kinds of metabolites in complex plasma, and provides an approach for plasma metabolomics in acquiring more comprehensive data of metabolites. METHODS Integrated ionization of electrospray ionization (ESI), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI), and atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) combined with RRLC/MS/MS has been carried out to perform analysis on the global plasma metabolome of healthy volunteers. The contributions to the total numbers of ion features by RRLC/MS with ESI, APCI, and APPI in positive and negative ion modes were calculated. Representative unique and identical ions were identified. The intensities of identical ions were compared. RESULTS Each of ESI, APCI, and APPI coupled with RRLC/MS has its own advantage over the other two techniques for certain types of metabolites in plasma. LC/ESI-MS is very sensitive for detecting glycerophosphocholines, glycerophosphoethanolamines, acyl carnitines, bile acids, sulfate, etc. LC/APCI-MS is suitable for analyzing cyclic alcohols, fatty acids, and linoleic acids. LC/APPI-MS proves to be appropriate in detecting steroids, sphingolipids, some amino acids, nucleosides, and purines in plasma. CONCLUSIONS It is suggested that the integrated ionization LC/MS approach should be applied for global plasma metabolomics. Moreover, the results obtained demonstrate that it is preferable to choose certain techniques from LC/ESI-MS, LC/APCI-MS, and LC/APPI-MS for metabolite target analysis. Au/Ag core/shell bipyramids were used as surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates to determine the thiram. The metallic substrates showed high SERS performance and are very suitable for the analytical sensors. The fabrication and characterization of the Au/Ag core/shell bipyramids were described. The influence of experimental parameters, such as the thickness of Ag shell of the bipyramids, sodium chloride concentration, and pH value on SERS of thiram was examined and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, thiram molecules were effectively adsorbed onto bipyramids and the SERS intensity is proportional to the concentration of thiram in the range of 3.3 to 400.0 ng mL-1. The corresponding correlation coefficient of the linear equation is 0.997, which indicates that there is a good linear relationship between SERS intensity and thiram concentration. The limit of detection for thiram is 2.0 ng mL-1. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method is a viable method for determination of thiram. NMR Spectroscopy In their Communication on page 8686 ff., C. Li et al., demonstrate that 19F labeling is a good first choice for studying globular and disordered proteins in Xenopus oocytes, especially compared with conventional 15N ‐ or 13C ‐ methyl enrichment. By using 19F labeling, they found that, unlike E. coli cells, the viscosity in oocytes is only about 1.2 times that of water and that inhomogeneous broadening contributes 60 – 70 % to the line width.
