As the predominant standard for partitioning operating systems, ARINC 653 has been applied in many critical domains. However, its reliance on informal textual languages presents challenges for ensuring both the correctness of the standard itself and the conformity of a specification or an OS to this standard. This paper addresses the gap through formal work on the ARINC 653 standard. We provide a comprehensive formal specification of multi‐core ARINC 653 Part 1–5 using Isabelle/HOL that encompasses all the 68 services and covers all components outlined in the standard, then conduct a formal proof of conformity of the specification according to ARINC 653 Part 3A. Our work marks the first comprehensive multi‐core ARINC 653 specification with a formal conformity proof. The population of older adults with diabetes mellitus is growing but heterogeneous. Because geriatric syndromes, comorbidity or multimorbidity, the complexity of glucose dynamics, and socioeconomic conditions are associated with the risk of severe hypoglycemia and mortality, these factors should be considered in individualized diabetes treatment. Because cognitive impairment and frailty have similar etiologies and risk factors, a common strategy can be implemented to address them through optimal glycemic control, management of vascular risk factors, diet, exercise, social participation, and support. To prevent frailty or sarcopenia, optimal energy intake, adequate protein and vitamin intake, and resistance or multi‐component exercise are recommended. For hypoglycemic drug therapy, it is important to reduce hypoglycemia, to use sodium glucose cotransporter‐2 (SGLT2) inhibitors and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonists, taking into account the benefits for cardiovascular disease and the risk of adverse effects, and to simplify treatment to address poor adherence. Glycemic control goals for older adults with diabetes should be set according to three categories, based on cognitive function and activities of daily living, using the Dementia Assessment Sheet for Community‐based Integrated Care System 8‐items. This categorization can be used to determine treatment strategies for diabetes when combined with the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA). Based on the CGA, frailty prevention, treatment simplification, and social participation or services should be implemented for patients in Category II and above. Measures against hypoglycemia and for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and chronic kidney disease should also be promoted. In food analysis, conventional one‐dimensional liquid chromatography methods sometimes lack sufficient separation power due to the complexity and heterogeneity of the analyzed matrices. Therefore, the use of two‐dimensional liquid chromatography (2D‐LC) turns out to be a powerful tool to consider, especially when coupled to mass spectrometry (MS). This review presents the most remarkable 2D‐LC–MS food applications reported in the last 10 years, including a critical discussion of the multiple approaches, modulation strategies as well as the importance of the optimization of the different analytical aspects that will condition the 2D‐LC–MS performance. The presence of contaminants in food (food safety), the food quality, and authenticity or the relationship between the beneficial effects of food and human health are some of the fields in which most of the 2D‐LC–MS applications are mainly focused. Aim: The importance of comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) is increasing in aging societies worldwide. However, there are few comprehensive studies on CGA, resulting in a limited understanding of its implementation rate, temporal changes and factors associated with its implementation. We aimed to investigate the implementation status of CGA and its regional variance in Japan. Methods: Using the Diagnosis Procedure Combination database, we investigated CGA trends, and identified the patient, hospital and regional factors associated with its implementation. We identified patients aged ≥65 years who were admitted for the first time between 2016 and 2020 with a diagnosis of stroke, heart failure, pneumonia, bone fracture or colorectal cancer. We examined the CGA implementation rate according to patient and hospital characteristics. We also investigated temporal changes and tendencies to carry out CGA in different prefectures. Results: A total of 1 974 817 patients were analyzed, of whom 570 696 (28.9%) underwent CGA. The implementation trend increased steadily from 25.3% in fiscal year 2016 to 33.4% in fiscal year 2019. The implementation rate also increased with patient age (30.3% in patients aged ≥95 years). Regional variations in its implementation status were observed, with a higher tendency to be implemented in areas near major metropolitan regions. A trend toward carrying out CGA for colorectal cancer, but not for other diseases, has been observed in eastern Japan. Conclusion: Although CGA is increasingly carried out, considerable regional differences remain in its implementation status. Initiatives to reduce variations are necessary. Currently in the United States, many states provide abstinence only education to students, if sexual education is mandatory at all. This is largely because of the 2017 policy that redirected funding through grants from comprehensive sexual education to abstinence only education. This Note proposes that the current administration redirect the money back to comprehensive sexual education policies that were productive during the early 2010s. The federal government should also provide a level‐based curriculum to states to ease the implementation of comprehensive sexual education in schools. Key Points for the Family Court Community: In 2010, the United States federal government created the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program which, for the first time, provided federal funding to states and programs that used comprehensive sexual education.In its first 5 years (2010–2015), the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program provided comprehensive sexual education to over 500,000 children and teens, from the ages of 10–19 years old.In 2018, the federal government used the funding provided for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program to promote and fund abstinence only education.Despite federal court orders mandating that funding still be provided to grantees of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program from 2015, the Department of Health and Human Services refused to honor the funding promised.Comprehensive sexual education has been proven over the years to be the better method of preventing teen pregnancy, decreasing domestic violence, promoting healthy relationships, and overall preparing teens for adult relationships and life. Background: Comprehensive sex and sexuality education (CSE) is an evidence‐based intervention associated with improved sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Currently, there are no standardized requirements for sex and sexuality education in the United States, despite expert recommendations. Contributions to Theory: In the United States, a Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child theoretical model proposed by the Centers for Disease Control, and current examples of school sex education policy is used to make recommendations for the standardization of comprehensive sexual health education in K‐12 schools. This article describes the necessary components to adopt CSE equitably, and provides an example of the process implemented to improve CSE in 1 school district in Pittsburgh, PA. Implications for School Health Policy, Practice, and Equity: Understanding the key components of legislation that align with recommended standards, and the process of advocating for school policy change, allows local advocacy groups and education policymakers to create and pass feasible legislation that will ensure appropriate instruction. There is additional room for improvement in states and local districts that have current CSE legislation, to adopt approaches grounded in frameworks that critically evaluate social determinants of health and amend legislation to further improve health equity. Conclusions: Several states and local districts have passed CSE regulations, and are implementing and evaluating their efficacy, providing support and examples for other regions interested in adopting similar policies and processes. Forced marriage in the United States is a hidden issue for a growing number of children and young people. Being trapped in a marriage severely impacts a person's well‐being, with long‐term psychological and physical ramifications. Forced marriage increases the likelihood of domestic violence and sexual abuse, depriving victims of autonomy. To lessen the number of forced marriages, this Note proposes emulating a United Kingdom statute. The statute provides a comprehensive approach with tailored programs and services to serve the needs of victims of forced marriages. Adopting this statute will create uniform law, making forced marriages illegal federally. Key points for the family court community: An online survey of 7791 individuals estimated an 11% sample prevalence rate of forced marriage in America.There is currently no federal statute outlawing forced marriage.Only nine states and two U.S. jurisdictions have criminal statutes that specifically address the issue of forced marriage.In some states, minors are allowed to marry with parental or judicial consent, or when expecting a child.People use forced marriage as an outlet to alleviate poverty, conceal sexual identity and sexual orientation, provide for a citizenship claim or another person's residence, cover for unplanned pregnancy, or cease criminal or statutory rape investigations. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced in 2021 a commitment to develop a comprehensive framework for integrated action on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of anemia and to establish an Anaemia Action Alliance to support the implementation of the framework. WHO commissioned four background papers to provide reflections about the most pressing issues to be addressed for accelerating reductions in the prevalence of anemia. Reishi owes an exceptional value in nutritional, cosmeceutical, and medical treatments; however, none of the studies has provided its future‐driven critical assessment. This study documents an up‐to‐date review (2015–2020, wherever applicable) and provide valuable insights (preclinical and clinical evidence‐based) with comprehensive and critical assessments. Various databases 'Google scholar', 'Web of Science', 'ScienceDirect', 'PubMed', 'Springer Link', books, theses, and library resources were used. The taxonomic chaos of G. lucidum and its related species was discussed in detail with solution‐oriented emphasis. Reishi contains polysaccharides (α/β‐D‐glucans), alkaloids, triterpenoids (ganoderic acids, ganoderenic acids, ganoderol, ganoderiol, lucidenic acids), sterols/ergosterol, proteins (LZ‐8, LZ‐9), nucleosides (adenosine, inosine, uridine), and nucleotides (guanine, adenine). Some active drugs are explored at an optimum level to make them potential drug candidates. The pharmacological potential was observed in diabetes, inflammation, epilepsy, neurodegeneration, cancer, anxiety, sedation, cardiac diseases, depression, hepatic diseases, and immune disorders; however, most of the studies are preclinical with a number of drawbacks. In particular, quality clinical data are intensely needed to support pharmacological activities for human use. The presence of numerous micro‐, macro, and trace elements imparts an essential nutritional and cosmeceutical value to Reishi, and various marketed products are available already, but the clinical studies regarding safety and efficacy, interactions with foods/drinks, chronic use, teratogenicity, mutagenicity, and genotoxicity are missing for Reishi. Reishi possesses many valuable pharmacological activities, and the number of patents and clinical trials is increasing for Reishi. Erdheim–Chester disease (ECD) is a rare disorder characterized by accumulation of non‐Langerhans cell histiocytes in multiple organs. The clinical manifestations are protean and vary from asymptomatic focal disease to potentially fatal multisystem disorder. The commonest presentation is symmetric osterosclerotic lesions of lower extremity long bones; other organs, including cardiovascular, nervous, and endocrine system may be affected. Central nervous system involvement can occur in up to 50% cases and is associated with poor prognosis. The disease pathogenesis involves organ involvement secondary to histiocytic infiltration and systemic inflammation driven by Th1 cytokine activation. The recent discovery of activating mutations in proto‐oncogene B‐rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma (BRAF) V600E and other genes involved in mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways has led to redefinition of ECD as a myeloid neoplastic disorder. The diagnosis requires histochemical and molecular analysis of histiocytes in tissue biopsies in patients with compatible clinical and imaging features. The treatment options include interferon‐alpha, anakinra, and immunosuppressive therapies. Better understanding of disease pathogenesis has led to development of novel targeted and effective therapies including BRAF and MEK inhibitors. The rarity of the disease and variable clinical features and course often results in diagnostic errors and delays. Rare primary neurological presentation can occur mimicking CNS inflammatory, neoplastic, or demyelinating disorders. We report an unusual case of ECD presenting with progressive encephalopathy and ataxia along with multifocal brainstem and cerebellar lesions. A comprehensive review of clinical and neuroimaging features and immunohistochemical and molecular characteristic of ECD are presented along with review of neuroimaging findings in two previously reported cases. Background: Patients discharged from intensive care may experience psychological and physical deficits resulting in a long and complex rehabilitation upon discharge. Relatives are also vulnerable to psychological pathologies and diminished health‐related quality of life following the patients' critical illness. Relatives often provide care during the patients' rehabilitation, which may influence their health. Aim: To report the outcomes and experiences of relatives of patients discharged home after critical illness. Design Systematic integrative review. Methods: Electronic databases Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PubMed, Embase®, and PsychINFO® were searched using keywords, synonyms, and medical subject headings. Reference lists of articles and critical care journals were manually searched. Studies eligible for inclusion reported primary research and were published in English between 2007 and 2017. Studies were appraised using the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme checklists. Data were extracted and then analysed according to framework. Findings Twenty‐five studies were included: 19 quantitative, 4 qualitative, and 1 mixed method study. Three themes were identified: health and well‐being, employment and lifestyle, and caregiving role. Health and well‐being reports the incidence and significance of psychological morbidity such as post‐traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression. Employment and lifestyle describes the impact of caregiving on the relative's ability to work and engage in usual social activities. The final theme describes and discusses the caregiving role in terms of activities of daily living, knowledge and skills, and adaption to the role. Conclusions: There is a significant and meaningful impact on outcomes and experiences of relatives of patients discharged home after critical illness. Relatives' caregiving is embedded within the context of their psychological morbidity and social adjustment. Relevance to practice: If informal care giving is to be sustainable, there is a need to design effective strategies of supporting families through all stages of the critical illness trajectory. Background: Adolescent and young adult alcohol use is a major public health concern; alcohol is the most widely used substance by teenagers. It is imperative to better understand alcohol use during adolescence and early adulthood given the important changes that occur. Although numerous measures aim to capture alcohol use during this time, no existing measure gathers comprehensive information on alcohol use across these developmental stages. We developed the Comprehensive Early Drinking History Form (CEDHF), which retrospectively gathers drinking information for each year since onset of first regular use, including quantity/frequency of both regular use and periods of heaviest drinking. The CEDHF also collects information on aggregate drinking experiences between age of onset and age of first regular use. Methods: Using a sample of young adults (ages 21 to 27) from an ongoing longitudinal study, we examined whether the CEDHF predicted both concurrent (N = 303) and future (N = 75) alcohol‐related problems over and above other commonly used alcohol use measures (e.g., age of onset, age of first intoxication, Timeline Follow‐Back) and current alcohol problems. Results: Controlling for gender, age, and current problems, the CEDHF predicted both concurrent and future alcohol‐related problems over and above these other widely used measures of alcohol exposure. Conclusions: The CEDHF may be a valuable tool when longitudinal studies are not feasible as it provides more comprehensive information than other widely used measures of early alcohol exposure. Further, this measure can provide detailed information regarding who is at highest risk for future consequences. Yearly average drinking captured by the novel measure, the Comprehensive Early Drinking History Form (CEDHF), uniquely predicted both concurrent and future (6‐months later) alcohol‐related problems accounting for age of onset, age of first intoxication, and concurrent drinking based on a 30 day Time‐line Follow‐back Interview. This is the first measure that retrospectively gathers detailed drinking information across adolescence and into early adulthood. Vibrio vulnificus can cause necrotizing soft tissue infection via exposure through an open wound, and the incubation period in cases of wound infection is only about 16 h. These facts strongly suggest that mechanisms to evade innate immune cell phagocytosis are essential for its pathogenicity. Hydrophobic interaction is one of the binding mechanisms between bacteria and phagocytes. Several factors that maintain cell surface hydrophobicity (CSH) can contribute to anti‐phagocytic activity. In this study, we tried to identify V. vulnificus genes involved in maintaining the CSH, in order to elucidate mechanisms of anti‐phagocytic activity. We obtained 143 mutants that had lost their ability to proliferate in the host, using signature‐tagged transposon basis mutagenesis (STM). The CSH of these mutants was measured by the bacterial adherence to hydrocarbons (BATH) assay. The CSH of only four mutants differed significantly from that of wild type (WT). Of these four mutants, degS mutant (degS::Tn) showed lesser anti‐phagocytic activity than WT in the opsonophagocytosis assay, even though degS::Tn showed opaque‐type colonies. Furthermore, survival times of mice subcutaneously inoculated with degS::Tn were prolonged. These facts indicated that the BATH assay is a more suitable method of analyzing the anti‐phagocytic activity of V. vulnificus than the comparison of colony morphology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Unicystic ameloblastoma (UA) is a variant of ameloblastoma that has a relatively benign biologic behavior and mostly occurs in a younger age group. The entire cystic lining of unicystic ameloblastoma may not always be uniformly characteristic and may partly consist of non-specific epithelium or dentigerous cyst-like lining. The variability seen reinforces the advice that multiple biopsies should be taken from large cystic lesions to represent the entire lesion.Methods: All cases were retrieved from the archives of our unit from 1986 to 2016. Demographic data such as age, gender, and primary site were recorded. Histologically, all the cases were subcategorized according to the WHO 2017 classification.Results: UA accounts for 31.1% out of all different subtypes of ameloblastoma, and male-to-female ratio is 1.08:1. Age ranged from 4 to 88 years with the mean age of 30.25 years. Peak incidence of UA was found in the range of 11-20 years, and 89% of them occurred in the mandible and 55.3% in the canine-to-first molar region. The right side was frequent in both upper and lower jaws. Of the total sample, 233 (63%) cases were luminal and 137 (37%) cases were mural, and 13 cases recurred (3.5%).Conclusion: The present report analyzes the largest UA sample in a single center. There is a clear need for further large case-controlled retrospective or prospective studies of the management of UA with careful and follow-up studies to draw conclusions on the correct method of treatment of these lesions. Objectives/Hypothesis: To determine the feasibility and safety of neck dissection through a facelift incision. Study Design: Prospective case series. Methods: Cadavers and live subjects underwent neck dissection using a facelift incision with and without endoscopic assistance. In the live facelift neck dissection (FLND), the preoperative surgical indications, staging, adjuvant therapy, intraoperative technical procedure, pathology reports on lymph nodes, and short-term outcomes were reviewed. Results: FLND was successfully performed in four cadavers and four live subjects, including selective (less than five neck levels removed) and comprehensive (levels I-V removed) neck dissections. All levels were accessible through this approach, with additional retraction required for levels I and IV. Endoscopic assistance was required in one neck dissection for adequate visualization. Short-term complications and number of excised lymph nodes were comparable to those from traditional neck dissection approaches. Conclusions: Open neck dissection through a facelift incision is feasible and offers an alternate approach to traditional incisions. This can be performed without requiring robotic assistance and with endoscopic assistance only in certain cases. Endoscopic assistance can offer enhanced visualization of the surgical field and complement open direct approaches in neck dissection. Although FLND offers improved cosmetic outcomes when compared to those of traditional neck incisions, further study is required to determine its efficacy and indications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

More than two decades since the introduction of comprehensive nursing education in Australia, the controversy regarding the type of undergraduate education that would best serve the needs of the mental health nursing profession continues. The ensuing debate tends to be based on a comparison between the current model of comprehensive education in the universities and the specialist mental health nursing programs that previously operated within the hospital system. The previous existence of a tertiary-based direct-entry mental health nursing program in Victoria is generally not recognized. The paper provides a brief overview of mental health nursing education from a historical perspective emphasizing the period following the commencement of the transfer of the nursing education. Articulating the Victorian experience of specialist undergraduate mental health nursing education within universities is essential as discussions about the most appropriate educational preparation for mental health nursing continues. Current state law creates the risk that, if sex education is not provided to a child in public school, no similar instruction will be given to the child. Legislatively enacted opt-out provisions give parents broad control over their child's education by granting them the option to have their child excused from any sex education requirements within a public school's curriculum. Through public school sex education, professionals provide youth information aimed at protecting them from the dangers of pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). A stricter statutory opt-out provision should be enacted by state legislatures that only allows parents to excuse their child from sex education after a parent attends a 90-minute STD prevention course and receives the instructional material used in the school's sex education curriculum. Parents should be provided up-to-date information and a structural framework designed by the school to encourage them to discuss with their child the many sexual issues addressed within a school's sex education curriculum.
