The article discusses the proposal to reject the name Gymnogramma plantaginea (Pteridopsida). The name Gymnogramma plantaginea was published as a replacement name for the illegitimate Hemionitis plantaginea. However, both names were subsequently neglected and are rarely mentioned in the pteridological literature. The article argues that the name Gymnogramma plantaginea should be rejected in order to preserve nomenclatural stability and maintain the use of the well-established name Leptochilus hemionitideus.
