Objectives: Our research intended to explore the association and mediators (perceived social support and sleep quality) between the impact of oral health‐related quality of life (OHRQoL) and depression among Chinese older adults. Methods: A stratified, multi‐stage random sampling approach was used in our study. A total of 3896 older individuals aged 60 years and older were included. Process macro 3.5 for SPSS was utilized for testing mediation hypotheses. Results: The mean score of the OHRQoL of the elderly was 3.26 ± 7.15. The correlation coefficient between OHRQoL and depression was 0.25 (p < 0.001). Perceived social support (β = 0.009, 95% CI = 0.006, 0.012) and sleep quality (β = 0.073, 95% CI = 0.074, 0.093) mediated the relationship between OHRQoL and depression, respectively. The association between OHRQoL and depression was mediated sequentially by perceived social support and sleep quality (β = 0.004, 95% CI = 0.002, 0.006). Conclusions: The participants reported relatively good OHRQoL. OHRQoL and depression showed a significant positive correlation. The relationship between OHRQoL and depression among Chinese seniors was mediated by perceived social support and sleep quality. Both directly and indirectly, OHRQoL can affect depression. Objectives: Previous studies have found an association between socioeconomic status (SES) and depressive symptoms among older adults, however the mechanisms underlying this association remained unclear. This study aimed to examine the mediating role of social support and the moderating role of living arrangement in the association between SES and depressive symptoms. Methods: Data was collected from the 2020 Household Health Interview Survey in Taian city, Shandong Province, China. A total of 3896 older adults aged 60 and above were included in this study. Depressive symptoms was measured by the Patient health Questionnaire‐9 (PHQ‐9), Social support by the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and other variables by related demographic scales. The moderated mediation model was examined using HAYES PROCESS 3.5. Results: SES negatively predicted depressive symptoms among older adults, and social support could mediate this association. Living arrangement played a moderating role in the relationship between social support and depressive symptoms (the second half of the mediating effect), and the effect was stronger among older adults who lived alone. Conclusions: Social support partially mediated the relationship between SES and depressive symptoms among older adults, and living alone strengthened the effect of social support on depressive symptoms. Interventions that address older adults' social support and living arrangement may ameliorate depressive symptoms among older adults. The SPF10‐polymerase chain reaction (PCR)‐based line probe assay (LiPA‐25) with high analytical sensitivity and specificity for human papillomavirus (HPV) genotyping in clinical samples has been widely used in vaccine and epidemiologic studies. A real‐time multiplex PCR assay using type‐specific primers (Hybribio‐23) with low workload and cost has been developed recently. The study aimed to compare the performance of LiPA‐25 and Hybribio‐23 in selected 1731 cervical swab and 117 tissue samples, with a focus on 20 common HPV types (14 high‐risk: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68/73; 6 low‐risk: 6, 11, 42, 43, 44, and 53). The level of agreement of two assays was determined using Cohen's Kappa (κ) statistics. A total of 1296 (74.9%) swab samples were identified as HPV‐positive by Hybribio‐23 or LiPA‐25, of which 814 (62.8%) samples exhibited concordant, 358 (27.6%) showed additional or fewer types (compatible), and 124 (9.6%) were discordant. In addition, the two assays showed a perfect agreement for 20 HPV‐combined detection (κ = 0.838) and 17 individual HPV types (all κ > 0.800), a good agreement for HPV31 (κ = 0.792) and 43 (κ = 0.696), and a moderate agreement for HPV42 (κ = 0.504). Hybribio‐23 was significantly more sensitive for HPV58, 59, 68/73, 42, 43, and 44, and less sensitive for HPV35 and 66 than LiPA‐25 (McNemar's test: all p < 0.05). For 117 HPV‐positive tissue specimens, the identification of genotypes was 85.2% identical, 12.2% compatible, and only 2.6% discordant. The agreement for HPV31 (κ = 0.786), 68/73 (κ = 0.742), and HPV53 (κ = 0.742) was good, while for other types (all κ > 0.853) and 20 HPV‐combined detection (κ = 0.936) was perfect (all p > 0.05). In conclusion, Hybribio‐23 and LiPA‐25 are comparable. Hybribio‐23 could be used for the detection and genotyping of HPV in cervical samples for epidemiological and vaccine studies worldwide. In the study, we aimed to compare a novel GP5+/6+‐PCR‐based reverse dot blot hybridization assay (Yaneng‐23) with LiPA‐25. The performance of two assays was evaluated in 1735 cervical swab and 117 tissue samples, with a focus on 19 common HPV types (14 high‐risk: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68/73; 5 low‐risk: 6, 11, 42, 43, and 53). A total of 1197 (69.0%) swab samples were identified as HPV‐positive by two assays. Of these, 878 (73.4%) samples displayed absolute agreement (concordant), 255 (21.3%) showed additional or fewer types (compatible), and the remaining 64 (5.3%) samples were discordant. Additionally, the two assays showed an excellent strength of agreement for 19 HPV‐combined detection (κ = 0.886) and 17 individual HPV types (all κ > 0.800), and displayed a good agreement for HPV39 (κ = 0.780) and 42 (κ = 0.699). Yaneng‐23 was more sensitive than LiPA‐25 for HPV58, 59, 68/73, 42, 43 and 53 (McNemar's test: all p < 0.05), while LiPA‐25 was more sensitive for HPV31, 39, 52, and 66 than Yaneng‐23 (all p < 0.05). In 113 HPV‐positive tissue specimens, the identification of genotypes was 82.3% identical and 17.7% compatible. The agreement between the tests for HPV45 (κ = 0.796) and 51 (κ = 0.742) was good, and for other types (all κ > 0.843) and 19 HPV‐combined detection (κ = 0.929) was perfect (all p > 0.05). In conclusion, Yaneng‐23 and LiPA‐25 are comparable. Yaneng‐23 could be used for the detection and genotyping of HPV in cervical samples for epidemiological and vaccine studies worldwide. The early clinical features of nitrous oxide (N2O)‐induced neuropathy were mimicking that of Guillain‐Barré syndrome (GBS). We aimed to explore clinical and laboratory characteristics of N2O‐induced neuropathy in comparison with GBS. We retrospectively reviewed data of 15 patients with N2O‐induced neuropathy and compared them with 15 GBS patients. The age of the N2O‐induced neuropathy group was significantly younger than that in the GBS group (22 ± 5 vs 45 ± 17). Paresthesia was more common in N2O‐induced neuropathy group (100% vs 53.3%). The proportion of distal upper limbs weakness was lower than that in GBS group (20.0% vs 93.3%). There was no significant difference in the distal weakness of the lower limbs (100% vs 80.0%). The incidence of motor conduction block and compound muscle action potential amplitude reduction in upper limbs was lower than that in GBS group (6.7% vs 60.0%; 26.7% vs 80.0%). The sensory nerve action potential amplitude drop in the lower limbs was more severe than that in GBS group (53.3% vs 0). The increase of Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) was more pronounced compared to GBS group (96.97 ± 6.00 vs 88.55 ± 5.41). High homocysteine levels were more common in N2O‐related group [29.80(11.60, 70.50) vs 14.35(9.22, 19.30)]. Typical clinical features of the acute N2O neuropathy appears to be a myeloneuropathy, affecting the lower limbs more than the upper limbs, mixed axonal‐demyelinating electrophysiological performance, higher homocysteine level, and larger MCV and common posterior spinal cord involvement in cervical segment. Novel dual valence Eu‐doped Ca4ZrGe3O12 (CZGO) phosphors were successfully fabricated in air atmosphere through a solid‐state route. Their crystal structure, photoluminescence properties as well as thermal quenching performance were investigated systematically. The spectra show that part of Eu3+ were reduced to Eu2+ and the mechanism is interpreted by the charge compensation. By altering Eu concentration, multi‐color luminescence covering from blue to red is realized when irradiated by 370 nm light, which perfectly matches with the near ultraviolet (NUV) light‐emitting diode (LED) chips. More importantly, under NUV excitation, luminescent intensities are almost unchanged even up to 423 K. And chromaticity exhibits only a tiny shift with growing temperature. Such suitable luminescent spectra and superior thermal stability indicate that CZGO:Eu phosphors are promising candidates for blue‐red components in NUV pumped W‐LEDs. Finally, the fabricated W‐LED based on the combination of CZGO:Eu phosphors, Ba2SiO4:Eu2+ and a 365 nm NUV‐LED chip gives a high color rendering index, a low correlated color temperature and suitable CIE chromaticity coordinates. Commercial Bi4Ge3O12 (BGO) monocrystal scintillator is relatively complicated to produce and too expensive. Therefore, it is desired to look for alternative scintillating materials with simple process, low consumption, large size, and high efficiency. Here, glass‐ceramics (GC) with high volume fraction of crystal phase and high density by increasing the proportion of heavy metal fluorides in the composition were designed. And bulk Tb3+‐doped transparent BaGdF5 glass‐ceramics with 23.3% crystal volume ratio and density of 4.65 g/cm3 have been prepared. The structural, optical, and luminescent properties of precursor glass and GC were systematically explored through series of characterization techniques including X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmittance spectra, transmission electron microscope (TEM), photoluminescence (PL) spectra, and X‐ray excited luminescence (XEL). After heat treatment, both PL emission and XEL intensity of GC are enhanced because of the movement of Tb3+ ions from the amorphous glass matrix into BaGdF5 nanocrystals, which possess lower phonon energy and better crystal field. The luminescent quantum efficiency of GC reaches 30.7% and the XEL intensity of GC is around 140% of that of the commercial BGO scintillating crystal. Mixed‐valence Eu‐doped transparent oxyfluoride glass‐ceramics containing cubic LaF3 nanocrystals were fabricated by traditional melt‐quenching technique and consequent annealing processes. Their structural and luminescent properties were systemically investigated by X‐ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy, absorption, excitation, emission spectra, and fluorescence lifetime measurements. Analyses of XRD patterns prove that the new precipitated nanocrystals disperse in glass‐ceramics crystallize in cubic LaF3. The spectroscopic investigations show that Eu2+ ions have been incorporated into the LaF3 nanocrystals preferentially, while Eu3+ ions still remain in the glass phase after crystallization. Based on the spectral results, a new parameter Rchange=RGC-RPG/RGC was defined to describe the changes of the environments of Eu3+ before and after crystallization more straightforwardly and more sensitively, where RPG and RGC represent the integrated intensity radio of 5D0 → 7F2 to 5D0 → 7F1 emissions of Eu3+ in PG and GC samples, respectively. Our investigation will not only enrich the understanding of fluoride nanocrystals‐based oxyfluoride glass‐ceramics, but also the distribution and luminescence behaviors of Eu3+ ions in them. Single‐composition Ba2Y2Si4O13:Bi3+,Eu3+ (BYSO:Bi3+,Eu3+) phosphors with color‐tunable and white emission were prepared by conventional high temperature solid‐state reaction method. The structural and luminescent properties of these phosphors were thoroughly investigated through X‐ray diffraction, photoluminescence, and decay curves. BYSO:Bi3+ phosphors show two excitation peaks at 342 and 373 nm, and give two emission peaks at 414 and 503 nm, respectively, indicating that there are two sites of Bi3+ in BYSO. The energy transfer from Bi3+ to Eu3+ was investigated in detail. Varied hues from blue (chromaticity coordinate [0.219, 0.350]) to white (0.288, 0.350) and orange‐red light (0.644, 0.341) can be generated by adjusting the content of Eu3+. Pure white light emission (0.311, 0.338) can be obtained under the excitation of 355 nm in BYSO:3%Bi3+,20%Eu3+ phosphor. Besides, BYSO:Bi3+,Eu3+ phosphors exhibit distinct thermal quenching properties, whose emission intensity at 473 K is 82.6% of that at 298 K. Our results indicate that BYSO:Bi3+,Eu3+ may be applied as conversion phosphors for n‐UV‐based W‐LEDs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Optical gas sensors present fundamental and industrial importance considering their broad applications. Challenges remain to obtain new photonic materials with broadband emission covering the absorption spectrum of typical combustion gases. Here, broadband near‐infrared (NIR) photoluminescence (PL) spanning the wide absorption spectrum of typical combustion products is realized through instant precipitation of stable cubic perovskite KMgF3:Ni2+ nanocrystals inside an aluminosilicate glass matrix after melt‐quenching. Excited by an 808 nm laser diode, NIR luminescence with a peak centered at ~1624 nm and a bandwidth (FWHM) greater than 315 nm is observed, originating from 3T2g(3F) → 3A2g(3F) electronic transition of octahedral coordinated Ni2+ in KMgF3 GC. Controlled precipitation of these perovskite crystals from a supercooled aluminosilicate melt enables immediate encapsulation and, hence, stabilization in an inorganic glass phase. While the precipitation temperature has only a small effect on crystallite size, it controls the redox state of the melt and the degree of dopant incorporation into the crystalline phase so that PL performance can be optimized. Spontaneous crystallization of perovskite nanocrystals inside glass may offer a new way to stabilize these novel nanocrystals. Moreover, spontaneous crystallization can be attractive in the control of activator partitioning and in the fabrication of composite fiber devices with high transparency and emission gain. Yb3+/Er3+ ions codoped bulk glass ceramics ( GC) with embedded monoclinic K3LuF6 nanocrystals are reported for potential temperature-sensing application by using the fluorescence intensity ratio method. Such GC with good transparency and enhanced up-conversion were prepared by the simple conversional melt-quenching method and subsequent annealing process. Optical, structural, and temperature-sensing up-conversion properties were characterized systematically. Optical spectroscopy analysis confirms the incorporation of Yb3+/Er3+ into the K3LuF6 crystalline lattice, resulting in enhanced up-conversion luminescence. Compared to other Er3+-doped typical systems, Er3+ ions in K3LuF6 GC present large energy gap (870 cm−1) and high relative sensitivity (37.6 × 10−4 K−1 at 625 K), revealing that K3LuF6:Yb3+/Er3+ GC can be excellent candidates for optical thermometers. Bismuth-doped glasses and crystals have been widely investigated due to their intriguing potential applications in superbroadband fiber amplifier and lasers in new NIR spectral range. However, few reports have been devoted so far to bismuth-doped transparent glass-ceramics. Here, this work reports on bismuth-doped silicate glasses and glass-ceramics, which were prepared by melt-quenching and consequent annealing processes, respectively. On the basis of the analyses on crystallization kinetics, nucleation and growth rate of crystalline phase can be modulated and Sr2YbF7 nanophase can, therefore, be precipitated uniformly inside the glass matrix in a controlled way to maintain proper transparence especially in optical telecommunication windows. Once the nanophase comes into being, enhanced bismuth NIR luminescence can be observed by more than 40 times upon excitation of 470 nm. Similar enhancement can appear upon different excitation schemes and the mechanism is discussed accordingly. Eu3+-doped transparent phosphate precursor glasses and glass-ceramics containing TbPO4 nanocrystals were successfully fabricated by a conventional high-temperature melt-quenching technique for the first time. The formation of TbPO4 nanocrystals was identified through X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, selected-area electron diffraction, and photoluminescence emission spectra. The obvious Stark splitting of 5D0-7F J ( J = 1, 2, 4) transitions of Eu3+and the increase of internal quantum efficiency indicate the incorporation of Eu3+ into TbPO4 nanocrystals. Energy transfer from Tb3+ ions to Eu3+ ions was investigated using excitation and emission spectra at room temperature. The glass-ceramics obtained have more efficient Tb3+ to Eu3+ energy transfer than the glass, and so serve as good hosts for luminescent materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Topics discussed include suggestion from the laser Raman spectroscopy and fluid inclusion measurements regarding physical and chemical properties of gold deposit, hosting of the gold deposits in the Mesozoic granitoids and structurally controlled by faults, and sudden decompression and fluid phase separation due to opening of faults.

The article presents a study focusing on the evolution of ore forming fluids and analysis of fluid inclusion in the Sanshandao Gold deposit in gold producing district Jiaodong Peninsula in China. Several methods employed for distinguishing the fluid inclusions include petrography, microthermometry, and laser Raman spectroscopy. It mentions that the magmatic origin of ore-forming fluid of the gold deposit can be confirmed from stable isotope data.
