This article explores the relationship between certain HLA-DRB1 alleles and palindromic rheumatism (PR) in the Azeri population. PR is a type of arthritis characterized by temporary episodes of joint inflammation. The study reveals that specific HLA-DRB1 alleles are more prevalent in PR patients, but their presence does not significantly correlate with the development of rheumatoid arthritis or specific autoantibodies. The research suggests a potential genetic predisposition to PR in the Azeri population. Additionally, the study acknowledges the limitations of a small sample size and highlights the need for further research due to the rarity of the disease and differences between ethnic groups.
