The germanium (Ge) anode attains wide attention in lithium‐ion batteries because of its high theoretical volumetric capacity (8646 mAh cm−3). However, the huge volume expansion (≈230%) results in its poor electrochemical performances. The strategies reported in the literature to solve the issue often cause a low packing density, lowering the volumetric capacity. Here, a pressure‐induced route is proposed to fabricate a Ge architecture, in which nano‐sized Ge (≈15 nm) is encapsulated by robust TiO2 and highly conductive carbon, which offer the advantages of a low stress–strain characteristic, low volume expansion in thickness change, high electrical conductivity (463.2 S m−1), high Li‐ion diffusion coefficient (9.55 × 10−9–8.51 × 10−12 cm2 s−1), and high tapping density (1.79 g cm−3). As a result, the dense architecture obtains outstanding volumetric capacities of 3559.8 mAh cm−3 at 0.1 A g−1 and 2628.2 mAh cm−3 at 20 A g−1, along with excellent cycling life over 5000 cycles at 10 A g−1. Remarkably, the full cell achieves a high volumetric energy density of 1760.1 Wh L−1, along with impressive fast‐charging performances and long cycling life. Mastitis is the most frequent disease of cows and has well‐recognized detrimental effects on animal wellbeing and dairy farm profitability. With the advent of the postantibiotic era, alternative antibiotic agents, especially probiotics, have received increasing attention in the treatment of mastitis. Based on research showing that Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri) has anti‐inflammatory effects, this study explored the protective effects and mechanisms of L. reuteri against mastitis induced by Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in mice. First, mice with S. aureus‐induced mastitis were orally administered L. reuteri, and the inflammatory response in the mammary gland was observed. The results showed that L. reuteri significantly inhibited S. aureus‐induced mastitis. Moreover, the concentration of oxytocin (OT) and protein expression of oxytocin receptor (OTR) were measured, and inhibition of OTR or vagotomy reversed the protective effect of L. reuteri or its culture supernatant (LCS) on S. aureus‐induced mastitis. In addition, in mouse mammary epithelial cells (MMECs), OT inhibited the inflammation induced by S. aureus by inhibiting the protein expression of OTR. It was suggested that L. reuteri protected against S. aureus‐induced mastitis by releasing OT. Furthermore, microbiological analysis showed that the composition of the microbiota was altered, and the relative abundance of Lactobacillus was significantly increased in gut and mammary gland after treatment with L. reuteri or LCS. In conclusion, our study found the L. reuteri inhibited the mastitis‐induced by S. aureus via promoting the release of OT, and treatment with L. reuteri increased the abundance of Lactobacillus in both gut and mammary gland. Aim: To develop and investigate an imbalanced dual gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor (GIPR)/glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor (GLP‐1 R) agonist with Fc fusion protein structure. Methods: We designed and constructed an Fc fusion protein that is a dual agonist (HEC‐CG115) with an empirically optimized potency ratio for GLP‐1R and GIPR. The long‐term effects of HEC‐CG115 on body weight and glycaemic control were evaluated in diet‐induced obese mice and diabetic db/db mice. Repeat dose toxicity assays were performed to investigate the safety profile of HEC‐CG115 in Sprague‐Dawley rats. Results: HEC‐CG115 displayed high potency for GIPR and relatively low potency for GLP‐1R, and we labelled it 'imbalanced'. In animal models, HEC‐CG115 (3 nmol/kg) led to more weight loss than semaglutide at a higher dose (10 nmol/kg) in diet‐induced obese model mice. HEC‐CG115 (one dose every 3 days) reduced fasting blood glucose and glycated haemoglobin levels similar to those after semaglutide (once daily) at the same dose. In a 4‐week subcutaneous toxicity study conducted to assess the biosafety of HEC‐CG115, the no observed adverse effect level was determined to be 3 mg/kg. Conclusion: HEC‐CG115 is a novel Fc fusion protein with imbalanced dual agonism that shows superior weight loss, glycaemic control and metabolic improvement in animal models, and has an optimal safety profile according to a repeat‐dose toxicity study. Background: Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) may have a paracrine effect on coronary microcirculation and myocardium. However, it is unclear whether EAT is linked to cardiac function and perfusion. Purpose: To investigate the association of EAT with left ventricular (LV) strain and myocardial perfusion in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Study Type: Retrospective. Population: A total of 78 patients with CAD and 20 healthy controls. The patients were further divided into high (n = 39) and low EAT volume (n = 39) groups according to median EAT volume. Field Strength/Sequence: A 1.5 T, balanced steady‐state free precession, inversion recovery prepared echo‐planar, and segmented‐turbo fast low‐angle shot (FLASH) phase‐sensitive inversion recovery (PSIR) sequences. Assessment: EAT volume was measured by manually tracing the epicardial border and the visceral layer of pericardium on the short‐axis cine stacks. LV strain parameters included global radial (GRS), circumferential (GCS), and longitudinal peak strain (GLS). Perfusion indices included upslope, perfusion index, time‐to‐maximum signal intensity (TTM), and maximum signal intensity (MaxSI). Statistical Tests: One‐way analysis of variance or Kruskal–Wallis rank tests, Chi‐squared or Fisher exact tests. Multivariate linear regression analyses. A P value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The parameters of GRS GCS, GLS, upslope, perfusion index, and MaxSI were significantly lower in the patients when compared to the controls. Moreover, the high EAT volume group presented significantly longer TTM values and lower GRS, GCS, GLS, upslope, perfusion index, and MaxSI than the low EAT volume group. Multivariate linear regression analyses demonstrated that EAT was independently associated with GRS, GCS, GLS, upslope, perfusion index, TTM, and MaxSI in patients. EAT and upslope were independently associated with GRS, while EAT and perfusion index were both independently associated with GCS and GLS. The gun propellant is an inaccessible energy and fuel for projectile to achieve destructive capability in a weapon system. Nitrocellulose/nitroglycerine/triethylene glycol dinitrate(NC/NG/TEGDN) based gun propellant with higher energy level than single‐based gun propellant can meet the demands of modern warfare. Currently, deterring strategy is commonly used to improve the combustion progressivity of NC/NG/TEGDN based gun propellant, together with aggravating the harmful emission phenomena such as muzzle smoke and flame. Therefore, it is essential to design and fabricate NC/NG/TEGDN based gun propellant with both good combustion progressivity and low characteristic signal. In this work, a gradiently denitrated NC/NG/TEGDN based gun propellant was successfully prepared by denitration strategy, whose structure was confirmed by FT‐IR, Raman and SEM. Here, closed bomb vessel test and interior ballistic test were conducted. The results showed that the gradiently denitrated NC/NG/TEGDN based gun propellant exhibited better combustion progressivity and interior ballistic performance than raw gun propellant, and these properties can be controlled by modulating the degree of denitration. Meanwhile, the change laws of the muzzle smoke and flame of the gradiently denitrated NC/NG/TEGDN based gun propellant were investigated by the smoke box method and high‐speed photography. Furthermore, a lower characteristic signal for the gradiently denitrated NC/NG/TEGDN based gun propellant was found compared to the deterred gun propellant by theoretical calculations. This work provides a new idea for preparing and applying a gun propellant with excellent comprehensive performance, including high energy, good combustion progressivity and low characteristic signal. Accumulating evidence shows HOOK1 disordered in human malignancies. However, the clinicopathological and biological significance of HOOK1 in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains rarely studied. In this study, the authors demonstrate that HOOK1 is downregulated in RCC samples with predicted poorer clinical prognosis. Mechanistically, HOOK1 inhibits tumor growth and metastasis via canonical TGF‐β/ALK5/p‐Smad3 and non‐canonical TGF‐β/MEK/ERK/c‐Myc pathway. At the same time, HOOK1 inhibits RCC angiogenesis and sunitinib resistance by promoting degradation of TNFSF13B through the ubiquitin‐proteasome pathway. In addition, HOOK1 is transcriptionally regulated by nuclear factor E2F3 in VHL dependent manner. Notably, an agonist of HOOK1, meletin, is screened and it shows antitumor activity more effectively when combined with sunitinib or nivolumab than it is used alone. This study aimed to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PKs), safety, and immunogenicity of the biosimilar (RD12014) compared to reference liraglutide (Victoza) in healthy Chinese male subjects, so as to provide the basis for the similarity evaluation of the two drugs. Eligible subjects were randomized 1:1 to two sequences (RD12014‐Victoza or Victoza‐RD12014). Subjects received a single 0.6 mg dose of Victoza or RD12014 by abdominal subcutaneous injection during the first period. After a 7‐day washout period, subjects received the alternative drug during the second period. Blood samples were collected at predefined timepoints for PKs and immunogenicity assessment. The primary PK end points were maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) and area under the concentration‐time curve from time zero to the time of the last quantifiable concentration (AUC0−last). PK bioequivalence was achieved, if the 90% confidence intervals (CIs) of the geometric mean ratio (GMR) of Cmax and AUC0−last were within the range of 80.00–125.00%. Safety was assessed throughout the study. The 90% CIs of the GMR of RD12014 to Victoza for Cmax and AUC0−last were completely within the range of 80.00–125.00%. Thirteen treatment‐related adverse events (TRAEs) were reported in 11 subjects (22.4%) in the RD12014 group, compared to 12 TRAEs reported in 12 subjects (24.5%) in the Victoza group. The blood samples of 49 subjects were negative for anti‐drug antibody and the neutralizing antibody was not further detected. Understanding the history and regional singularities of human impact on vegetation is key to developing strategies for sustainable ecosystem management. In this study, fossil and modern pollen datasets from China are employed to investigate temporal changes in pollen composition, analogue quality, and pollen diversity during the Holocene. Anthropogenic disturbance and vegetation's responses are also assessed. Results reveal that pollen assemblages from non‐forest communities fail to provide evidence of human impact for the western part of China (annual precipitation less than 400 mm and/or elevation more than 3000 m.a.s.l.), as inferred from the stable quality of modern analogues, principal components, and diversity of species and communities throughout the Holocene. For the eastern part of China, the proportion of fossil pollen spectra with good modern analogues increases from ca. 50% to ca. 80% during the last 2 millennia, indicating an enhanced intensity of anthropogenic disturbance on vegetation. This disturbance has caused the pollen spectra to become taxonomically less diverse over space (reduced abundances of arboreal taxa and increased abundances of herbaceous taxa), highlighting a reduced south–north differentiation and divergence from past vegetation between regions in the eastern part of China. We recommend that care is taken in eastern China when basing the development of ecosystem management strategies on vegetation changes in the region during the last 2000 years, since humans have significantly disturbed the vegetation during this period. Chinese word segmentation (CWS) is the foundational work of geological report text mining and has an important influence on various tasks, such as named entity recognition and relation extraction. In recent years, the accuracy of the domain‐general CWS model has been limited by the domain and large scale of the training corpus, especially data on Chinese geological texts. Training these CWS models also requires much manually annotated data, which takes a large amount of time and effort. When applying these existing models/methods directly to the geoscience domain, the segmentation accuracy and performance will drop dramatically. To address this problem, we pretrain the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformer (BERT), which can leverage unlabeled domain‐specific knowledge, on unlabeled Chinese geological text and then input them into a Bidirectional long short‐term memory and Conditional random field (BiLSTM‐CRF) model for extracting text features. Finally, the predicted tags are decoded by the CRF. The experimental results show that the F1 score of the proposed model reaches 96.2% on the constructed test set of geological texts. Additionally, experiments illustrate that our proposed model achieves comparable performance to that of other state‐of‐the‐art models, and the proposed cyclic self‐learning strategy can be further extended to other domains. This study proposes a sequential annotation model for geoscience text, which automatically construct domain training‐corpus and realize word segmentation taking into account the long‐distance dependence of sentences. The eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is one of the most important Solanaceae crops, ranking third for total production and economic value in its genus. Herein, we report a high‐quality, chromosome‐scale eggplant reference genome sequence of 1155.8 Mb, with an N50 of 93.9 Mb, which was assembled by combining PacBio long reads and Hi‐C sequencing data. Repetitive sequences occupied 70.1% of the assembly length, and 35,018 high‐confidence protein‐coding genes were annotated based on multiple sources. Comparative analysis revealed 646 species‐specific families and 364 positive selection genes, conferring distinguishing traits on the eggplant. We performed genome‐wide comparative identification of disease resistance genes and discovered an expanded gene family of bacterial spot resistance in eggplant and pepper, but not in tomato and potato. The genes involved in chlorogenic acid synthesis were comprehensively characterized. Highly similar chromosomal distribution patterns of polyphenol oxidase genes were observed in the eggplant, tomato, and potato genomes. As the largest inland basin in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau, Qaidam Basin has traditionally been thought of as the key region to study the Cenozoic climatic changes in the plateau; however, the information from a palaeobotanic respect is still lacking because of the paucity of the fossil plants. Fossil fruits and foliage of Ailanthus (Simaroubaceae) are reported from the Oligocene Shangganchaigou Formation in the northwestern Qaidam Basin, Qinghai Province, China. All the characters suggest that the fossil materials should be assigned to A. confucii, which is one widely distributed fossil species in the Cenozoic, regarded as the analogue of extant A. altissima. Current materials represent the first fossil record of Simaroubaceae in the northern Tibetan Plateau. Based on the climate requirements of the living A. altissima, the ranges of mean annual temperature (MAT) and mean annual precipitation (MAP) reflected by current fossils from Qaidamare 6.9–17.0°C, and 376–1,383 mm, respectively, compared with the current climate at the fossil site with MAT of −1.03°C and MAP of 60.5 mm. The results indicate that the climate conditions of the fossil site during the Early Oligocene were much warmer and more humid than that of the current. We hereby suggest the warm and moist air could approach the northwestern Qaidam and to accommodate the ecological environment in Early Oligocene. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In recent years, MXene has become a hotspot because of its good conductivity, strong broadband absorption, and tunable band gap. In this contribution, 0D MXene Ti3C2Tx quantum dots are synthesized by a liquid exfoliation method and a wideband nonlinear optical response from 800 to 1550 nm is studied, which have a larger nonlinear absorption coefficient β of –(11.24 ± 0.14) × 10–2 cm GW–1. The carrier dynamic processes of 0D MXene are explored with ultrahigh time resolution nondegenerate transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy, which indicates that the TA signal reaches its maximum in 1.28 ps. Furthermore, 0D MXene is used to generate ultrashort pulses in erbium or ytterbium‐doped fiber laser cavity. High signal‐to‐noise (72 dB) femtosecond lasers with pulse durations as short as 170 fs with spectrum bandwidth of 14.8 nm are obtained. Finally, an ultranarrow fiber laser based on 0D MXene is also investigated and has a full width at half maximum of only 5 kHz, and the power fluctuation is less than 0.75% of the average power. Summary: Human contact prediction is a challenging task in mobile social networks. The existing prediction methods are based on the static network structure, and directly applying these static prediction methods to dynamic network prediction is bound to reduce the prediction accuracy. In this paper, we extract some important features to predict human contacts and propose a novel human contact prediction method based on naive Bayes algorithm, which is suitable for dynamic networks. The proposed method takes the ever‐changing structure of mobile social networks into account. First, the past time is partitioned into many periods with equal intervals, and each period has a feature matrix of all node pairs. Then, with the feature matrixes used for classifiers training based on naive Bayes algorithm, we can get a classifier for each time period. At last, the different weights are assigned to the classifiers according to their importance to contact prediction, and all classifiers are weighted combination into the final prediction classifier. The extensive experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method, and the results show that the proposed method can improve the prediction accuracy and TP Rate to a large extent. Besides, we find that the size of time interval has a certain impact on the clustering coefficient of mobile social networks, which further affects the prediction accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have therapeutic potential for multiple ischemic diseases. However, in vitro expansion of MSCs before clinical application leads to metabolic reprogramming from glycolysis to oxidative phosphorylation, drastically impairing their proliferative and therapeutic capacities. This study aimed to define the regulatory effects of Sirtuin 5 (SIRT5) on the proliferative and therapeutic functions of adipose‐derived MSCs (ADMSCs) during in vitro expansion. Methods: ADMSCs were isolated from wild‐type (WT) and Sirt5‐knockout (Sirt5−/−) mice. Cell counting assay was used to investigate the proliferative capacities of the ADMSCs. Dihydroethidium and senescence‐associated β‐galactosidase stainings were used to measure intracellular ROS and senescence levels. Mass spectrometry was used to analyze protein succinylation. Oxygen consumption rates and extra cellular acidification rates were measured as indicators of mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis. Metabolic‐related genes expression were verified by quantitative PCR and western blot. Hind limb ischemia mouse model was used to evaluate the therapeutic potentials of WT and Sirt5−/− ADSMCs. Results: SIRT5 protein levels were upregulated in ADMCs during in vitro expansion. Sirt5−/− ADMSCs exhibited a higher proliferation rate, delayed senescence, and reduced ROS accumulation. Furthermore, elevated protein succinylation levels were observed in Sirt5−/− ADMSCs, leading to the reduced activity of tricarboxylic acid cycle‐related enzymes and attenuated mitochondrial respiration. Glucose uptake, glycolysis, and pentose phosphate pathway were elevated in Sirt5−/− ADMSCs. Inhibition of succinylation by glycine or re‐expression of Sirt5 reversed the metabolic alterations in Sirt5−/‐ ADMSCs, thus abolishing their enhanced proliferative capacities. In the hind limb ischemia mouse model, SIRT5−/− ADMSCs transplantation enhanced blood flow recovery and angiogenesis compared with WT ADMSCs. Conclusions: Our results indicate that SIRT5 deficiency during ADMSC culture expansion leads to reversed metabolic pattern, enhanced proliferative capacities, and improved therapeutic outcomes. Background: Autophagy is closely associated with apoptosis in H9c2 cardiomyocytes as a result of hypoxia. The present study aimed to determine whether microRNAs (miRs) mediated apoptosis and autophagy in hypoxia‐stimulated H9c2 cardiomyocytes. Methods: miR microarrays and quantitative reverse transcription‐polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR) assays were used to detect differentially expressed miRs in H9c2 cardiomyocytes following hypoxia stimulation. Annexin V‐fluorescein isothiocyanate double staining was performed to evaluate hypoxia‐induced cell apoptosis, and the protein expression levels of autophagy‐associated genes were detected using western blotting. Results: miR microarrays and qRT‐PCR assays showed that the expression of miR‐129‐5p is significantly decreased in hypoxia‐exposed H9c2 cardiomyocytes. Under hypoxic stimulation, miR‐129‐5p mimics alleviated hypoxia‐induced cell apoptosis and also restored autophagy in H9c2 cardiomyocytes. However, transfection with miR‐129‐5p inhibitors accelerated hypoxia‐induced cell apoptosis and autophagy deficiency in H9c2 cardiomyocytes. Furthermore, overexpression of miR‐129‐5p enhanced cell viability and reduced the release of lactate dehydrogenase in hypoxia‐stimulated H9c2 cardiomyocytes. Summary: Background: Excessive free radicals, generated from the metabolic reaction in organisms, have been implicated in many human diseases as well as aging process. Nowadays, many synthetic substances have been developed as anti‐oxidation cosmetic ingredients. However, man‐made antioxidants often have certain toxicity and side effects, which make their application under strict control. Therefore, more and more researchers focus on natural antioxidants because of their advantages. Aims: In this study, CE obtained from natural Chinese medicine was used to investigate whether it had antioxidant effect in vitro and repair effect on HaCaT cell damage caused by UVB. Methods: UV‐Vis and HPLC were adopted for qualitative and quantitative analysis of CE. We investigated the antioxidant potential of CE by assessing its ABTS+, DPPH•, hydroxyl (OH•), and superoxide anions (O2·-) free‐radical quenching ability. The safety of CE was studied by CCK‐8 assay. To evaluate the anti‐oxidation effect of CE on UVB‐induced damage on HaCaT cells, superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, and malondialdehyde (MDA) content were tested. Results: Experiment data showed that the CE displayed high scavenging ability: ABTS+, DPPH•, OH•, and O2·- quenching rates were 88%, 64%, 94%, and 58%, respectively. Furthermore, after UVB radiation (30 mJ/cm2), adding CE (50‐500 μg/mL) could increase the SOD activity in HaCaT cells and reduce the MDA contents. Conclusions: All results illustrate that the CE shows significant antioxidant effect on scavenging free radicals in vitro. Abstract: Crystalline porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with nanometer‐sized void spaces, large surface areas and ordered reticular motifs have offered a platform for achieving disruptive successes in divisional fields. Great progress in exploring the linear and nonlinear optical features of MOFs has been achieved, yet third‐order optical nonlinearities in two‐dimensional (2D) MOFs have rarely been studied. Here, a broadband nonlinear optical amplitude modification and phase shift are demonstrated in a few‐layer nickel‐p‐benzenedicarboxylic acid MOF (Ni‐MOF). The calculated bandgap of Ni‐MOF decreases from 3.12 eV to 0.85 eV as the doping of Ni ions increases, indicating the ability of this material to be used for optical amplitude modulation from the visible to the near‐infrared region, which is experimentally confirmed via a Z‐scan technique. The determined third‐order optical nonlinearities resemble those of other low‐dimensional nonlinear optical materials, suggesting the wide potential of Ni‐MOF for application in optoelectronics. As an example, a Ni‐MOF‐based saturable absorber was implemented into fiber resonators to demonstrate its broadband mode‐locking operations. A femtosecond laser pulse was readily obtained in the telecommunication wavelength window in an integrated all‐fiber resonator. Considering the chemical compatibility and rich variability, these primary investigations pave the way towards advanced photonics based on multifeature MOF materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A 56-d feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the growth performance, feed utilization, biochemical composition, and antioxidant status of chu's croaker, Nibea coibor (12.6 ± 0.1 g) in net pens fed diets supplemented with various levels of crude palm oil: 0% fish oil ( FO), 20% palm oil ( 2PO), 40% ( 4PO), 60% ( 6PO), 80% ( 8PO), and 100% ( 10PO). Weight gain and specific growth rate ( SGR) were significantly lower in fish fed 8PO and 10PO diets. The increase of PO levels did not affect fish survival, feed intake, and feed conversion ratio. Feeding diet 10PO led to significantly higher lipid content in the liver, but not the whole body and dorsal muscle, than diets FO and 2PO. PO supplementation led to increased α-tocopherol, but decreased thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances, n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acid (n-3 HUFA), and n-3/n-6 fatty acid ratio, in both the liver and muscle. Hepatic superoxide dismutase and catalase were significantly higher in fish fed 10PO diet than FO diet. Polynomial regression analysis showed that the maximum SGR was obtained at 24.2% crude PO. Results of this study suggested that PO could replace up to 60% of FO without adverse effect on growth performance or nutritional quality of fish. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
