The article reports on the molecular detection of betanodavirus from the farmed fish, Platax orbicularis in French Polynesia. As reported the infected larvae of the reared fishes were sampled which showed the mortality rates up to 88 percent. These clinical observations suggested a betanodavirus infection which is supposed to be the aetiological agent of viral nervous necrosis (VNN) disease. The VNN has become a serious threat to marine fish farming in recent years.
