In this work, self-charging pouch-type hybrid supercapacitor (HSCs) is fabricated by extrinsic integration of wind and solar energy power systems. Initially, the synthesized mesoporous 3D-rhombohedral Mn2O3 shows a specific capacity of 37.61 mA h g-1 in KOH plus redox additives electrolyte. Further, the oxygen vacancy of Mn2O3 is tuned by fast-reduction (FR) and mild-reduction (MR) techniques. The rich oxygen vacancy of FR-Mn2O3 (rich Ov-Mn2O3) exhibits a specific capacity of 66.64 mA h g-1. On the other hand, the different morphologies of Cu2SnS3@SnS are synthesized by time-dependent solvothermal technique. The 3D-microsphere Cu2SnS3@SnS shows higher electrochemical performance than the others. In order to further improve the electrochemical performance, the heterostructure of rich Ov-Mn2O3@Cu2SnS3@SnS composite is prepared that provides a maximum specific capacity of 126.07 mA h g-1 at 8 mA cm-2 with retention of 93.89% after 10 000 cycles. This is ascribing to high electrical/ionic conductivity, larger faradaic reactions, lower interfacial resistance, and synergistic effect. Then, the fabricated pouch-type HSC delivers a maximum specific energy density of 47.97 Wh kg-1 and power density of 5120 W kg-1. Ethylene glycol (EG) mediated SnS nanostructures were produced by means of hydrothermal protocol. Preliminary experimental studies confirmed orthorhombic phase SnS nanostructures and its metal oxygen vibrations. Samples interstitial tin (Sn) vacancies on electrochemical activity were discussed. Half cell configuration of electrochemical module was attempted for investigating electrodes electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity. Higheroxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity of SnS@5 ml EG was reported fromlinear sweep voltammetry (LSV) current density as 288 mA/g and also reported lower overpotential of 254 mV. Excellent current density of 81 % retention was achieved for same candidate and is strongly recommended for future energy conversion applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Electrochemical water splitting is an environment‐friendly technique for producing clean energy. Low‐cost, high performance and robust electro catalysts for electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is highly essential for improving the overall efficiency of water splitting. In the present study, NiCo2O4 and CoNi2S4 nanospheres were successfully prepared by employing solvothermal method and optimized at 180°C. XRD result confirmed the formation of cubic structure of both NiCo2O4 and CoNi2S4 nanospheres. SEM images evidently revealed the perfect nanospherical surface morphology of NiCo2O4 and distorted nanospherical morphology of CoNi2S4. The obtained characteristic Raman active modes of vibrations confirmed the product formation. Photoluminescence study proclaimed the emission behavior of the product. FTIR results confirmed the metal oxygen vibrations such as Ni−O, Co−O and Ni−S of NiCo2O4 and CoNi2S4 nanospheres. UV spectra and Tauc plot revealed the optical band gaps of Ni and Co based oxide and sulfide nanospheres. Electrochemical studies of optimized NiCo2O4 and CoNi2S4 revealed the respective specific capacitance of 767.067 F/g and 648.11 F/g at scan rate of 10 mVs−1 in 1 M KOH electrolyte solution. Furthermore, the current density of 331 and 159 mAg−1 was achieved for the best performed NiCo2O4 and CoNi2S4 electrodes with improved electrical conductivity. The stability over 12 h of highly performed NiCo2O4 nanospheres has been reported. This work suggested a viable and optimized approach to synthesize Ni and Co based oxide and sulfide nanospheres for efficient electrochemical water oxidation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
