ABSTRACT Background Methods Results Conclusions Digital papillary adenocarcinoma (DPAC) is a rare but aggressive cutaneous malignant sweat gland neoplasm that occurs on acral sites. Despite its clinical significance, the cellular and genetic characteristics of DPAC remain incompletely understood.We conducted a comprehensive genomic and transcriptomic analysis of DPAC (n = 14) using targeted next‐generation DNA and RNA sequencing, along with gene expression profiling employing the Nanostring Technologies nCounter IO 360 Panel. Gene expression in DPAC was compared to that in hidradenoma (n = 10). Immunohistochemistry was employed to validate gene expression.Two out of eight DPACs showed fusion gene rearrangements (CRTC3::MAML2 and TRPS1::PLAG1). No uniform mutational signature was detected in DPAC. Comparative gene expression analysis revealed an enrichment of genes related to matrix remodeling, metabolism, and DNA damage repair. Hallmark pathway analysis demonstrated significant upregulation of E2F target genes in DPAC compared to hidradenoma (p = 0.00710). Human papillomavirus‐42 was found to be positive in all of our tested DPAC cases. Immunohistochemistry confirmed increased protein expression of CD56, CDC20, and SOX10 in DPAC. Notably, most DPAC tumors also exhibited B‐cell infiltration, as indicated by CD20 staining.Our findings reveal novel fusions and validate altered replication pathways related to HPV42 in DPAC. Background: A common terminology for diagnosis is critically important for clinical communication, education, research and artificial intelligence. Prevailing lexicons are limited in fully representing skin neoplasms. Objectives: To achieve expert consensus on diagnostic terms for skin neoplasms and their hierarchical mapping. Methods: Diagnostic terms were extracted from textbooks, publications and extant diagnostic codes. Terms were hierarchically mapped to super‐categories (e.g. 'benign') and cellular/tissue‐differentiation categories (e.g. 'melanocytic'), and appended with pertinent‐modifiers and synonyms. These terms were evaluated using a modified‐Delphi consensus approach. Experts from the International‐Skin‐Imaging‐Collaboration (ISIC) were surveyed on agreement with terms and their hierarchical mapping; they could suggest modifying, deleting or adding terms. Consensus threshold was >75% for the initial rounds and >50% for the final round. Results: Eighteen experts completed all Delphi rounds. Of 379 terms, 356 (94%) reached consensus in round one. Eleven of 226 (5%) benign‐category terms, 6/140 (4%) malignant‐category terms and 6/13 (46%) indeterminate‐category terms did not reach initial agreement. Following three rounds, final consensus consisted of 362 terms mapped to 3 super‐categories and 41 cellular/tissue‐differentiation categories. Conclusions: We have created, agreed upon, and made public a taxonomy for skin neoplasms and their hierarchical mapping. Background: While electrochemotherapy (ECT) is increasingly utilized as a highly effective method in the treatment of tumors in the head and neck region, there is significantly less data available for eyelid‐periocular skin tumors. Our group reported the first extensive case series of eyelid‐periocular basal cell carcinoma (BCC) patients with short‐term follow‐up treatment with ECT. The present study aims to report our long‐term results of eyelid‐periocular BCC cases treated with ECT. Methods: The treatments were performed according to the ESOPE (European Standard Operating Procedures on Electrochemotherapy) guidelines using the Cliniporator™ device. All patients received bleomycin‐based ECT, administered intratumorally or intravenously. Tumor response was evaluated using the RECIST 1.1 criteria. Results: The results of 19 patients treated with ECT are presented. Four patients had locally advanced primary tumors, while 15 patients had recurrent tumors. Bleomycin was administered intratumorally in four patients and intravenously in 15 patients. The overall response was 100%, while the complete response rate proved to be 95%. In three cases (15.8%), recurrence was observed during the mean follow‐up period of 78.9 months. Conclusions: ECT can effectively treat locally advanced or recurrent BCC in the eyelid‐periocular skin region. Excellent tumor control can be achieved with good functional and cosmetic results without systemic adverse events with long interval follow‐up. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wolf isotopic response (WIR) is a phenomenon in which a second, unrelated skin disease arises at the same site as a previously healed dermatosis. WIR most commonly occurs in healed herpes zoster but has also been described in other conditions, such as herpes simplex virus, varicella‐zoster virus, and skin tumors. Acquired perforating dermatosis (APD) is characterized by transepidermal elimination of collagen bundles that lead to the development of ulcerative papules, which are often associated with systemic conditions such as diabetes or renal failure. In the updated 5th edition of the WHO Classification of Skin Tumors, primary cutaneous cribriform carcinoma has been renamed cribriform tumor. This entity is a rare sweat gland neoplasm with undetermined malignant potential, with only 46 cases reported to date. Herein, we present a case of a 30‐year‐old female with a solitary nodule in the left thigh subcutaneous tissue. Histopathological examination revealed a well‐defined dermal nodule composed of monomorphic, deeply staining cells arranged in solid nests, tubular, and cribriform patterns, with no recurrence or distant metastasis observed during a 1‐year follow‐up. Summarizing all 47 cases, they exhibited consistent, reproducible histological morphology and similar immunohistochemistry. Although the tumor nests lacked myoepithelial cells peripherally, all cleanly excised cases showed no recurrence or distant metastasis, suggesting a benign biological behavior. Background: One of the hereditary syndromes associated with multiple early‐onset basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) is basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS), of which a minority is caused by germline SUFU mutations. Germline SUFU mutations show a spectrum of phenotypes, of which multiple hereditary infundibulocystic basal cell carcinoma syndrome (MHIBCC) is one. Patients with MHIBCC develop multiple basaloid skin tumors from middle age onwards. Methods: Three patients presenting with an MHIBCC phenotype were tested for a germline SUFU mutation. Skin biopsies were assessed by two dermatopathologists. Results: Our study adds three new pathogenic SUFU variants, including a mosaic, to the current literature. Literature suggests a spectrum of phenotypes of patients carrying the same SUFU mutation, which ranges from the MHIBCC phenotype, to BCNS, to patients that develop life‐threatening brain tumors. This last risk is significantly higher in germline SUFU mutation carriers when compared to BCNS patients carrying germline PTCH1 mutations. Conclusions: Germline SUFU mutation carriers should be recognized as a distinct group of patients carrying specific health risks, independent of meeting the BCNS criteria. Phenotypic prediction based on the specific SUFU mutation seems unfeasible. It is of utmost importance that the less apparent MHIBCC phenotype is recognized, to provide (second generation) germline SUFU mutation carriers appropriate healthcare. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a progressive, systemic inflammatory disease. It can lead to serious joint damage and disability, increased cardiovascular risk and reduced quality of life. Six experts met to develop the recommendations for the management of PsA in Australia. The final recommendations are approved by all panel members. Management and treatment recommendations have been made under six subheadings: Recommendations for non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs and glucocorticoids; Disease‐modifying treatment; Screening and monitoring; Family planning; Symptom treatment and extra‐articular manifestations; Comorbidities and lifestyle considerations. Our recommendations for the management of PsA in Australia draw heavily on the established global guidelines. Aims: Superficial CD34‐positive fibroblastic tumour (SCD34FT) is an uncommon but distinctive low‐grade neoplasm of the skin and subcutis that shows frequent CADM3 expression by immunohistochemistry (IHC). In this study, prompted by an index case resembling 'atypical fibrous histiocytoma (FH)' that was positive for CADM3 IHC, we systematically examined a cohort of tumours previously diagnosed as 'atypical FH' by applying CADM3 and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for PRDM10 rearrangement, to investigate the overlap between these tumour types. Methods and Results: Forty cases of atypical FH were retrieved, including CD34‐positive tumours (n = 20) and CD34‐negative tumours (n = 20). All tumours were stained for CADM3. All CADM3‐positive tumours were evaluated by FISH to assess for PRDM10 rearrangement. Eleven CD34‐positive tumours (11/20, 55%) coexpressed CADM3 and were reclassified as SCD34FT. None (0/20) of the CD34‐negative atypical FH were CADM3‐positive. Reclassified SCD34FT (10/11) arose on the lower extremity, with frequent involvement of the thigh (n = 8). Features suggestive of atypical FH were observed in many reclassified cases including variable cellularity, spindled morphology, infiltrative tumour margins, collagen entrapment, epidermal hyperpigmentation, and acanthosis. Variably prominent multinucleate giant cells, including Touton‐like forms, were also present. An informative FISH result was obtained in 10/11 reclassified tumours, with 60% (6/10) demonstrating PRDM10 rearrangement. Conclusion: A significant subset of tumours that histologically resemble atypical FH, and are positive for CD34, coexpress CADM3 and harbour PRDM10 rearrangement, supporting their reclassification as SCD34FT. Background: Reconstruction of skin defects after oncological surgery for a cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma is often mandatory to facilitate adjuvant treatment and/or to prevent chronic wound problems. Some of the most challenging regions to reconstruct after resection of a skin tumor are the frontal and parietal parts of the skull. Methods: This article describes three patients with large skin defects after oncological surgery that were reconstructed with the use of a (hemi) visor flap. Results: The (hemi) visor flap is easy to harvest, resulting in a concise procedure and short hospitalization with maximum wound control. ABSTRACT Background Methods Results Conclusions Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is a genodermatosis, characterized both by premature aging and significantly increased risk of non‐melanoma and melanoma skin cancers at an early age. However, limited literature is available on the common histopathological subtypes of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in these patients.In this ambispective case series, we recruited patients of XP who had either a currently present skin tumor or previously excised one, provided their histopathological sections were available. Cytogenetic analysis was performed in all the patients. The histopathological findings were recorded by two trained dermatopathologists.Of 22 recruited patients with XP, 12 patients had 41 BCCs, and 23 (56.09%) of them showed a high‐risk histopathological subtype. Basosquamous carcinoma (10, 24.39%) was the most frequent high‐risk tumor followed by infiltrative variant (7, 17.07%). Mixed‐histopathological subtypes were noted in six (14.63%) cases, and all of them had a high‐risk component. The low‐risk subtypes included nodular (n = 17, 41.46%) and superficial BCC (1, 2.43%). Though a deep dermal involvement was seen in 27 (65.85%) lesions, none showed a perineural invasion or necrosis. Three (7.31%) lesions showed ulceration, while 10 (24.39%) showed presence of pigmentation.A frequent occurrence of high‐risk basal cell carcinoma was noted in patients with XP‐mandating creation of appropriate treatment and follow‐up strategies in these patients. ABSTRACT Objective Methods Results Conclusions We aimed to investigate the pattern, risk, and treatment of subsequent events after curative‐intent treatment of lip cancer.This retrospective cohort study included 313 patients treated for lip cancer from 2011 to 2021 in a tertiary oncological center.After a median follow‐up time of 29.16 months, 145 (46.32%) patients presented with second primary tumors, 93% of which were skin carcinomas. Locoregional recurrence occurred in 7.9% of cases, with 2.5% with nodal recurrence. The 1‐, 5‐, and 10‐year cumulative second primary tumor probabilities were 32.8%, 60.92%, and 70.92%, respectively. A higher risk was observed in elderly patients and basal cell carcinoma cases located on the cutaneous surface of the upper lip. Regional metastasis but not second primary tumors negatively impacted survival.Our study helps fill a literature gap, structuring specific recommendations regarding evaluations and follow‐up protocols for patients with lip cancer. Since cutaneous second primary tumors were the most common second event, standard skin examination is key. Age and histology were significant predictors for second primary tumors. Objective: To understand rural older farmers' perspectives and attitudes toward skin cancer risk and prevention. Design and sample: This study used a grounded theory approach and semi‐structured interviews with 12 rural older farmers (farm owners, farmworkers ages 50 years or older) in Washington. Participants' perspectives were explored relative to Health Belief Model constructs. Inductive and deductive analyses were used to generate relevant themes. COREQ guidelines were followed. Results: The findings fit well and extended the Health Belief Model, which was used to arrange key themes identified in relation to skin cancer risk and prevention, specifically participants' perceived barriers to accessing primary care and protection when outdoors, perceived benefits of sun‐protective behaviors, perceived hereditary susceptibility to skin cancer, perceived severity of the increased skin cancer risk, and cues to action for skin checks. A new construct of hope was identified to emphasize the importance of establishing emotional, instrumental, and informational support systems for promoting skin cancer prevention. Participants also indicated their hope of raising awareness of skin cancer prevention among all ages. Conclusions: Findings highlighted the importance of integrating skin cancer prevention services for rural older farmers and across the lifespan. Background: The super‐thin skin flap formed by skin and soft tissue expansion has large area and good ductility, so it can be used to repair skin defects. However, because the flap is thin, the blood flow in the dermis of the super‐thin expanded flap is weakened, and flap rupture and necrosis after secondary flap transfer may occur. Objective: To compare the skin thickness difference between the expanded ultrathin flaps injected with concentrated growth factor (CGF) and the blank group or saline group. Methods: From June 2021 to December 2023, 10 patients (44 sites) with large‐area scars or skin tumors were treated, and a single center half randomized controlled trial was conducted. The test site of expander implantation was divided into three groups: intradermal injection of CGF group, normal saline group and blank group. The same amount of expansion was performed every 1–2 weeks, and CGF or normal saline was injected into the dermis every 4 weeks, a total of three times. After 2–3 months of expansion, color Doppler ultrasound was used to measure the skin thickness of each group. Results: Compared with the blank group, the skin thickness of CGF group was 1.75 ± 0.08 mm, and that of BLA blank group was 1.42 ± 0.07 mm, with statistically significant difference (p < 0.0001); In the other group, compared with the saline group, the skin thickness of the CGF group was 1.54 ± 0.08 mm, and the average skin thickness of the saline group was 1.40 ± 0.08 mm, with significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.0067). Conclusion: CGF intradermal injection can increase the skin thickness of super‐thin skin flap in the process of soft tissue expansion, which is a safe and effective auxiliary method of skin expansion. Background: Histopathological analysis represents the gold standard in clinical practice for diagnosing skin neoplasms. While the current diagnostic workflow has specialized in producing robust and accurate results, interpreting tissue architecture and malignant cellular morphology correctly remains one of the greatest challenges for pathologists. This paper aims to explore the prospect of applying x‐ray virtual histology to human skin tumor excisions and correlating it with the histological validation. Materials and Methods: Seven skin biopsies containing intriguing melanoma types and pigmented skin lesions were scanned using x‐ray Computed micro‐Tomography (μCT) and then sectioned for conventional histology assessment. Results: The tissue microarchitecture reconstructed by μCT offers detailed insights into diagnosing the malignancy or benignity of the skin lesions. Three‐dimensional reconstruction via x‐ray virtual histology reveals infiltrative patterns in basal cell carcinoma and evaluated invasiveness in melanoma. The technology enables the identification of pagetoid distributions of neoplastic cells and the assessment of melanoma depth in three dimensions. Conclusion: Although the proposed approach is not intended to replace conventional histology, the non‐destructive nature of the sample and the clarity provided by virtual inspection demonstrate the promising impact of μCT as a valid support method prior to conventional histological sectioning. Indeed, μCT images can suggest the optimal sectioning position before using a microtome, as is commonly performed in histological practice. Moreover, the three‐dimensional nature of the proposed approach paves the way for a more accurate assessment of significant prognostic factors in melanoma, such as Breslow thickness, by considering the whole micro‐volume rather than a two‐dimensional observation. Lensless microscopy provides a wide field of view (FOV) determined by the image sensor size, allowing visualization of large sample areas. Coupled with advanced and even pixel super‐resolution phase retrieval algorithms, it can achieve resolutions up to the sub‐micron level, enabling both large‐FOV and high‐resolution imaging. However, high‐throughput lensless imaging encounters challenges in rapid data acquisition and large‐scale phase retrieval. Furthermore, when examining biological samples over a large FOV, focal plane inconsistencies often emerge among distinct regions. This study introduces a fast acquisition and efficient reconstruction method for coherent lensless imaging. Multiple measurements are manually modulated using an axial translation stage and sequentially captured by an image sensor, requiring no hardware synchronization. Optical parameter calibration, region‐wise auto‐focusing, and region‐wise phase retrieval algorithms are integrated to establish a general parallel computing framework for rapid, efficient, and high‐throughput lensless imaging. Experimental results demonstrate a 7.4 mm × 5.5 mm FOV and 1.38 µm half‐pitch resolution imaging of human skin and lung tumor sections with region‐wise focusing, requiring ≈0.5‐s acquisition time and 17‐s reconstruction time. By incorporating pixel super‐resolution, a 0.98 µm half‐pitch resolution is achieved in full‐FOV peripheral blood smears without additional data required, advantageous for discerning hollow shapes and segmenting blood cells. Diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common and aggressive subtype of non‐Hodgkin lymphoma. The overall risk of developing DLBCL is increased in patients with other lymphomas, such as mycosis fungoides (MF). In this report, we present an 81‐year‐old female with early‐stage MF who simultaneously progressed to tumor stage, large‐cell transformed (LCT) MF and developed a primary DLBCL in a lymph node (LN). She presented with a tumor on her leg and new lymphadenopathy in her right axilla. Skin biopsy of the tumor revealed infiltration of large atypical CD3+, CD4+, and CD30+ cells, and a smaller portion of CD8+ cells in the dermis, consistent with LCT MF. Biopsy of the axillary LN revealed diffuse sheets of CD20+, BCL‐2+, c‐MYC+, and CD10− cells, highly suggestive of double expressor DLBCL. High‐throughput sequencing revealed monoclonal T cells in the skin tumor and a monoclonal B‐cell population in the LN. The above findings led to simultaneous diagnoses of LCT MF and nodal double expressor DLBCL. Our case demonstrates the importance of performing a full pathological workup in cutaneous T‐cell lymphoma patients presenting with lymphadenopathy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CRTC1::TRIM11 cutaneous tumor (CTCT) is a rare skin tumor of uncertain differentiation. In the 49 reported cases, only four cases showed regional or distant metastasis, but follow‐up remains limited. Herein, we present a case of metastatic CTCT with ulceration, a histological feature that has not been previously described. A 75‐year‐old male with a 2‐month history of toe ulceration underwent a shave biopsy, which showed a dermal nodular neoplasm that was immunoreactive for SOX10 and S100, negative for Melan‐A, and was initially diagnosed as melanoma. Upon pathology review at our institution, the tumor was composed of intersecting fascicles and nests of epithelioid and spindle cells. Additional immunohistochemistry revealed immunoreactivity of the tumor for MiTF and NTRK and negativity for HMB‐45 and PRAME. Next‐generation sequencing identified CRTC1::TRIM11 fusion, leading to a revised diagnosis of CTCT. The patient proceeded to a toe amputation and sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy 5 months after the shave biopsy. The amputation showed residual CTCT and a focus on lymphovascular invasion. The SLN revealed multifocal subcapsular metastases. The patient was started on adjuvant nivolumab and showed biopsy‐proven recurrence in the right inguinal lymph nodes and imaging findings suspicious for pulmonary metastases 8 months after the excision. In summary, we present a case of CTCT with ulceration and lymphovascular invasion. We also provide additional evidence that a subset of CTCT behaves aggressively. Purpose: In radiotherapy of the head and neck (H&N) it is common for the clinical target volume (CTV) to extend to the patient's skin. Adding a margin for set‐up uncertainty and delivery creates a planning target volume (PTV) that extends beyond the patient surface. This can result in excessive fluence being delivered to the build‐up region and therefore the skin. This study evaluates four different planning methods used when inverse‐planning H&N radiotherapy treatments with CTV extending to the skin. The aim of the study was to determine which planning method gives superior plan quality. Method: Ten H&N cancer patients with a CTV contoured to the skin were inverse‐planned using four planning methods. The planning methods compared were: cropping the optimization PTV back from the skin surface by 5.0, 3.0, and 0.0 mm and a virtual bolus method. For each planning method, the increased fluence at the skin surface was analyzed. The CTV coverage and skin doses were compared. Plan robustness was evaluated by applying an isocenter shift of ±3.0 mm in the major axes. Results: The planning method cropping the PTV 0.0 mm from the skin surface results in an increased fluence in the build‐up region. The average volume of CTV receiving 98% of the prescription dose was 89.6% ± 3.4%, 91.6% ± 2.4%, and 93.5% ± 1.7% when cropped 5.0, 3.0, and 0.0 mm, respectively, and 93.4% ± 2.1% for the virtual bolus method. Introducing plan uncertainty affects CTV coverage the most when cropping 5.0 mm. When plan uncertainties are considered the methods of cropping 5.0, 3.0 mm, and the virtual bolus method have the same average skin dose within ±0.3%. Conclusion: This study shows that a virtual bolus planning method results in no increased fluence at the patient's surface, improves CTV coverage, and is the most robust to changes in setup and patient anatomy. ABSTRACT Dyskeratosis congenita (DC) is a rare inherited bone marrow disease that classically presents with the triad of oral leukoplakia, nail dystrophy, and reticular hyperpigmentation. It is most commonly caused by a defect in the DKC1 gene involved in telomere stability. Malignant progression of oral leukoplakia to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is rare in DC, especially in younger patients, and cutaneous SCC is only reported in 1.5% of cases of DC. Here we report a case of a 12‐year‐old female with a familial heterozygous RTEL1 (regulator of telomere elongation helicase 1) gene mutation associated with a severe phenotype of DC characterized by multiple cutaneous SCCs. Melanoma is the most aggressive type of skin cancer and is responsible for the majority of deaths from skin cancer. Therapeutic advances in the last few decades, notably the development of novel targeted therapies and immunotherapies have significantly improved patient outcomes; nonetheless, these options remain limited due to the onset of resistance to treatment modalities and relapse. Electrical impedance dermography (EID), based on electrical impedance spectroscopy, is a specific technique for the evaluation of skin disorders that relies upon the application and measurement of painless, alternating electrical current. EID assesses pathological changes to the normal composition and architecture of the skin that influence the flow of electrical current, including changes associated with inflammation, keratinocyte and melanocyte carcinogenesis, and scarring. Assessing the electrical properties of the skin across a range of frequencies and in multiple directions of current flow can provide diagnostic information to aid in the identification of pathologic skin conditions. EID holds the promise of serving as a diagnostic biomarker and potential to be used in skin cancer detection and staging. EID may also be useful as a biomarker in monitoring effectiveness of treatment in individual patients and in therapeutic research. This review highlights ongoing efforts to improve mechanistic understanding of skin electrical changes, study of EID in a variety of clinical contexts, and further refine the technology to find greater clinical use in dermatology and dermatologic research. Pilomatricoma, also referred to as Pilomatrixomas or Calcifying epithelioma of Malherbe, is a rare benign skin tumor derived from hair follicle matrix cells, presents a diagnostic challenge due to its diverse clinical manifestations. Females are more commonly affected by Pilomatricoma. This condition typically manifests as a painless, firm, and slowly progressive lesion. Histopathological analysis shows characteristic findings, such as basaloid cells at the periphery and shadow cells centrally. Immunohistochemical studies assess the expression of cytokeratin's associated with hair matrix differentiation. Complete surgical excision remains the cornerstone of treatment, ensuring favorable outcomes and minimizing the risk of recurrence. Awareness of this entity among clinicians is essential for timely recognition and appropriate intervention. Background: Skin neoplasms, particularly basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), are prevalent forms of skin malignancies. To enhance accurate diagnosis, non‐invasive techniques including high‐frequency ultrasound (HFUS) are crucial. HFUS offers deeper penetration compared to reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), and optical coherence tomography (OCT), making it valuable for examining skin structures. The aim of this study was to investigate and diagnose localized manifestation of BCC and SCC with HFUS and compare it with pathology results in patients referred to Razi Hospital, Tehran, Iran. Method and materials: This study included patients diagnosed with BCC and SCC, with clinical and pathological confirmation, attending the oncology clinic of Razi Hospital, Tehran, Iran, from 2022 to 2023. Exclusion criteria comprised metastatic and recurrent cases, patients who underwent treatment or surgery, and tumors located in anatomically challenging areas. HFUS with a 20 MHz probe and Doppler ultrasound were employed to examine the skin. Tumors were subsequently excised, fixed in formalin, and sent for pathological assessment. Ultrasound findings were compared with pathology results. Results: The study assessed 40 patients, with half diagnosed with SCC and the other half with BCC. The majority of SCC patients were male (80%), while BCC patients were relatively evenly divided between males (65%) and females (35%). The mean age was 59.15 ± 11.9 years for SCC and 63.4 ± 8.9 years for BCC. Cheeks (20%) and lips (35%) were the most common sampling sites for BCC and SCC, respectively. The correlation coefficients for tumor size and depth between ultrasound and pathology were 0.981 and 0.912, respectively, indicating a high level of agreement between the two methods. Conclusion: In BCC patients, there was complete agreement between sonographic loco‐regional extension and pathology findings. However, some discordance (30%) was observed in SCC cases. The study demonstrated a strong correlation between ultrasound and pathology in accurately detecting the depth and extent of the tumor. However, due to the inclusion of only patients with positive pathology, it is not appropriate to evaluate the diagnostic test values and compare them with pathology results. This article discusses a case of Muir-Torre Syndrome (MTS), a variant of hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) syndrome, in a 46-year-old man with Fitzpatrick skin phototype V. MTS is characterized by cutaneous sebaceous tumors and keratoacanthomas, and is caused by mutations in genes involved in the mismatch repair system. The patient had a family history of HNPCC and sebaceous carcinomas, and had previously undergone genetic testing. The article describes the clinical presentation, dermoscopy findings, reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) findings, and histopathology of the patient's lesions. It also discusses the challenges of diagnosing and differentiating sebaceoma using dermoscopy and RCM, particularly in skin of color. This study investigates the carcinogenic potential of chronic dermal exposure (16 weeks) to sulfuric acid (SA) in immunocompetent mice. Clinical assessments, histopathological analyses, immunohistochemical analyses and biochemical assays were conducted to evaluate skin irritation, oxidative stress biomarkers and the potential carcinogenic effect of SA. Results indicated that prolonged exposure to SA leads to various alterations in skin structure, notably inflammation, preneoplastic and neoplastic proliferation in hair follicles, as well as hyperkeratosis and acanthosis, resulting in an increased epidermal thickness of 98.50 ± 21.6 μm. Immunohistochemistry analysis further corroborates these observations, showcasing elevated nuclear expression of p53 and Ki‐67, with a significant mitotic index of (57.5% ± 2.5%). Moreover, biochemical analyses demonstrate that SA induces lipid peroxidation in the skin, evidenced by a high level of Malondialdehyde and a consequential reduction in catalase activity. These findings suggest that prolonged exposure to SA can induce skin neoplasms, highlighting the need for stringent safety measures in environments where SA is frequently used. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of life (QoL) of patients with cervicofacial nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) using the Brazilian Portuguese‐adapted and validated version of the skin cancer index (SCI). After collecting demographic and clinical data from 182 patients with cervicofacial NMSC, the Brazilian versions of the SCI and the Dermatological Life Quality Index (DLQI) were applied preoperatively (T0) and 4 months postoperatively (T1). Assessments were carried out using the Shapiro–Wilk test, Student's t‐test, Mann–Whitney test, Kruskal–Wallis test, and Spearman's correlation. The QoL was evaluated using the Student's t‐test in paired samples at T0 and T1. Significant results were observed, with an increase in scores on the SCI scale in all its dimensions and a decrease in scores on the DLQI scale, demonstrating better postoperative QoL. The variables that presented significant results on the total scale, which indicated better QoL, were men, without children, income above four minimum wages, from the private sector, did not report pruritus, and scalp lesions. The QoL measurement indicated a change from the baseline and improvement after 4 months postoperatively in all subscales, indicating that surgical treatment increased the QoL of these patients from an emotional, social, and physical appearance point of view. Background: Keratoacanthomas (KAs) following laser treatment are a rare, but well‐described entity. Aim: Herein, we describe a case of eruptive keratoacanthoma (KA) following laser resurfacing treatment and aim to better characterize laser‐associated KAs. Methods: A literature search was performed on PubMed reviewing laser‐associated KAs including various characteristics: epidemiology, history of skin cancer, location, and number, type of laser, as well as the management and outcome. Results: Fractional ablative was the most common type of laser triggering KAs, and most cases presented within the first month following treatment. The majority of cases of laser‐induced KA had a prior history of a malignant or premalignant skin neoplasm. Laser‐induced KAs were treated using modalities similar to KAs arising in other contexts. A collaboration of multidisciplinary experts from the European Association of Dermato‐Oncology, the European Dermatology Forum, the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and the European Union of Medical Specialists was formed to develop European recommendations on AK diagnosis and treatment, based on current literature and expert consensus. This guideline addresses the epidemiology, diagnostics, risk stratification and treatments in immunocompetent as well as immunosuppressed patients. Actinic keratoses (AK) are potential precursors of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) and display typical histopathologic and immunohistochemical features of this malignancy in an early stage. They can develop into cSSC in situ and become invasive in a low percentage of cases. AK is the most frequent neoplasia in white populations, frequently occurring within a cancerous field induced by ultraviolet radiation. Since it cannot be predicted, which lesion will progress to cSCC and when treatment is usually recommended. The diagnosis of AK and field cancerization is made by clinical examination. Dermatoscopy, confocal microscopy, optical coherence tomography or line‐field confocal‐OCT can help in the differential diagnosis of AK and other skin neoplasms. A biopsy is indicated in clinically and/or dermatoscopically suspicious and/or treatment‐refractory lesions. The choice of treatment depends on patients' and lesion characteristics. For single non‐hyperkeratotic lesions, the treatment can be started upon patient's request with destructive treatments or topical treatments. For multiple lesions, field cancerization treatment is advised with topical treatments and photodynamic therapy. Background: Teledermatology provides a platform for swift specialist advice without the potential need for face‐to‐face review. Our objectives were to investigate the effectiveness, accuracy and diagnostic concordance of the platform with regard to the remote management of skin conditions. Methods: We undertook a single‐centre, retrospective chart review over a 1‐year period, comprising a total of 1703 teledermatology referrals. Two physicians independently assessed the diagnostic concordance between telederm diagnosis (TD), in‐person diagnosis (ID) and histopathological diagnosis (HD). Results: There were a total of 1703 TD referrals, of which 341 were rejected, leaving 1362 referrals for evaluation. Sixty‐five per cent of these referrals were managed remotely and discharged with advice, although 4.6% of these were later re‐referred for an in‐person review. A total of 20% of referrals were rejected, of which the majority was due to a lack of appropriate imaging. The total concordance of TD compared to ID was 76.4%. When comparing the TD and ID/HD, we obtained a Kappa value of 0.636 indicating substantial agreement. In terms of accuracy, there were 49 biopsy‐proven skin cancers picked up by the service in this cohort of data. Of these, 61.2% were given an accurate diagnosis on first impression via teledermatology, 14.3% were given a different diagnosis but correctly categorised as skin cancer and 24.5% could not be assessed; however, they were triaged and escalated based upon clinical suspicion. Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that teledermatology is an effective platform in terms of diagnosis and remote management, with adequate diagnostic accuracy and concordance to in‐person diagnosis. Full‐thickness skin graft (FTSG) reconstructions of lower limbs are especially prone to wound complications. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) enhances wound healing, but no broad evidence exists if it promotes graft take of lower leg FTSGs. In this investigator‐initiated, prospective, randomised and controlled trial, 20 patients with ambulatory FTSG reconstruction for lower limb skin cancers were randomised for postoperative treatment with either NPWT, or conventional dressings. As outcomes, adherence of the skin graft 1 week postoperatively, any wound complications within 3 months, including ≥3 weeks delayed wound healing, and the number of additional postoperative visits were compared. In both groups, grafts adhered equally well (p = 0.47); 80% of NPWT‐treated and 100% of control group grafts adhered >90%. There was no significant difference in the number of postoperative complications/delayed wound healing (p = 0.65); 70% of patients in the NPWT and 50% in the control group developed a wound complication. Both groups had an equal number of patients with at least three additional control visits (p = 1.0). The study was discontinued after 20 patients were recruited, as no benefit from NPWT was seen. The article discusses the factors that increase the likelihood of a diagnostic upgrade for ambiguous melanocytic tumors after clinicopathological correlation (CPC). Objective: By presenting a case study on multiple instances of Bowen's disease and the consistent use of narrow‐band ultraviolet B (NB‐UVB) phototherapy over a three‐year period, our aim is to enhance the comprehension of domestic clinicians regarding the disease. Additionally, we seek to review existing literature, encouraging dermatologists to consider clinical secondary primary lesion diagnoses. Method: Our approach involves analyzing a diagnosed case of multiple Bowen's disease, examining clinical manifestations, histopathology, imaging results, and treatment methods related to NB‐UVB phototherapy. We aim to facilitate discussion and understanding through a comprehensive literature analysis. Results: An elderly male with a 30‐year history of psoriasis vulgaris initiated continuous NB‐UVB therapy three years ago. A year later, he developed red patches and plaques with distinct borders and scaly surfaces on his face, trunk, lower extremities, and scrotum. Histopathological examination confirmed Bowen's disease. Treatment involved liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, with no recurrence observed during the one‐year follow‐up. Conclusion: This case highlights that Bowen's disease, typically solitary, can manifest as multiple instances, especially in individuals with a history of psoriasis vulgaris. While NB‐UVB stands as the primary treatment for psoriasis vulgaris, caution is warranted due to the potential risk of skin tumor induction with prolonged high‐dose usage. Exposure to ultraviolet radiation can lead to skin photoaging, which increases the risk of skin tumors. This study aims to investigate how microRNA m6A modification contributes to skin photoaging. This study found that skin fibroblasts exposed to a single UVB dose of 30 mJ/cm2 exhibited characteristics of photoaging. The m6A level of total RNA decreased in photoaged cells with a down‐regulated level of METTL14, and overexpression of METTL14 displayed a photoprotective function. Moreover, miR‐100‐3p was a downstream target of METTL14. And METTL14 could affect pri‐miR‐100 processing to mature miR‐100‐3p in an m6A‐dependent manner via DGCR8. Furthermore, miR‐100‐3p targeted at 3′ end untranslated region of ERRFI1 mRNA with an inhibitory effect on translation. Additionally, photoprotective effects of overexpression of METTL14 were reversed by miR‐100‐3p inhibitor or overexpression of ERRFI1. In UVB‐induced photoaging of human skin fibroblasts, METTL14‐dependent m6A can regulate miR‐100‐3p maturation via DGCR8 and affect skin fibroblasts photoaging through miR‐100‐3p/ERRFI1 axis. Background: Adnexal tumors of the skin are rare neoplasms that encompass a wide range of dermatologic entities. Here, we investigated the pattern of adnexal tumors of the skin in the All African Leprosy and Tuberculosis Rehabilitation and Training Center (ALERT) hospital retrospectively. Methods: A hospital‐based retrospective study was conducted at ALERT from histopathology records in the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) pathology laboratory of patients diagnosed with any of the skin adnexal tumors during the time period January 2017 to December 2021. A structured data extraction sheet was used. Data entry was done using EpiData 4.6.0.6. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25. Result: A total of 146 skin adnexal tumors were identified making the magnitude 2.8% of total biopsies. The 3rd decade of life was found to be the most common age group. Male‐to‐female ratio was 1 : 1.05. Majority of the tumors were benign (82.2%) and had sweat gland differentiation at 48.6%. Poroma (10.9%) was the most frequent tumor, whereas porocarcinoma (6.8%) made up the most frequent malignant tumor. The most common site was the head and neck region (48.6%). Only 21.2% of the tumors were correctly identified clinically. Conclusion: The magnitude of skin adnexal tumors is found to be slightly higher than other similar studies which could be because it was carried out in the largest dermatologic center in the country. The most common skin adnexal tumors identified, their localizations, and lines of differentiation are all in line with other studies. This article presents global cancer statistics by world region for the year 2022 based on updated estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). There were close to 20 million new cases of cancer in the year 2022 (including nonmelanoma skin cancers [NMSCs]) alongside 9.7 million deaths from cancer (including NMSC). The estimates suggest that approximately one in five men or women develop cancer in a lifetime, whereas around one in nine men and one in 12 women die from it. Lung cancer was the most frequently diagnosed cancer in 2022, responsible for almost 2.5 million new cases, or one in eight cancers worldwide (12.4% of all cancers globally), followed by cancers of the female breast (11.6%), colorectum (9.6%), prostate (7.3%), and stomach (4.9%). Lung cancer was also the leading cause of cancer death, with an estimated 1.8 million deaths (18.7%), followed by colorectal (9.3%), liver (7.8%), female breast (6.9%), and stomach (6.8%) cancers. Breast cancer and lung cancer were the most frequent cancers in women and men, respectively (both cases and deaths). Incidence rates (including NMSC) varied from four‐fold to five‐fold across world regions, from over 500 in Australia/New Zealand (507.9 per 100,000) to under 100 in Western Africa (97.1 per 100,000) among men, and from over 400 in Australia/New Zealand (410.5 per 100,000) to close to 100 in South‐Central Asia (103.3 per 100,000) among women. The authors examine the geographic variability across 20 world regions for the 10 leading cancer types, discussing recent trends, the underlying determinants, and the prospects for global cancer prevention and control. Aims: The objective of this study was to determine whether the use of glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) is associated with an increased risk of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer, separately, compared with the use of sulfonylureas among patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: Using the United Kingdom Clinical Practice Research Datalink (2007–2019), we assembled two new‐user active comparator cohorts. In the first cohort assessing melanoma as the outcome, 11,786 new users of GLP‐1 RAs were compared with 208,519 new users of sulfonylureas. In the second cohort assessing nonmelanoma skin cancer as the outcome, 11,774 new users of GLP‐1 RAs were compared with 207,788 new users of sulfonylureas. Cox proportional hazards models weighted using propensity score fine stratification were fit to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer, respectively. Results: Compared with sulfonylureas, GLP‐1 RAs were not associated with an increased risk of either melanoma (42.6 vs. 43.9 per 100,000 person‐years, respectively; HR 0.96, 95% CI 0.53–1.75) or nonmelanoma skin cancer (243.9 vs. 229.9 per 100,000 person‐years, respectively; HR 1.03, 95% CI 0.80–1.33). There was no evidence of an association between cumulative duration of use with either melanoma or nonmelanoma skin cancer. Consistent results were observed in secondary and sensitivity analyses. Introudction: There is increased risk of skin cancer in patients with gloermular disease or those with renal transplant. Objectives: To compare the risk of skin cancer between kidney recipients (KTRs) and patients with glomerular disease (GD). Design: The cohort comprised patients with KTRs (n = 61) and GD (n = 51) in Central and Central West Queensland, Australia. A quantitative cohort study was undertaken to study the risk of skin cancer in rural communities between two subgroups of patients with kidney diseases in relationship to immunosuppression. Statistical analyses of the differences in incidence of skin cancers between the two groups were done by chi‐square test, Fisher's exact test, independent t‐test and McNemar's test. Findings: KTRs with non‐melanoma skin carcinoma (NMSC) increased significantly after treatment with immunosuppressants (pre‐transplantation, n = 11 [18.0%], post‐transplantation, n = 28 [45.9%]; p < 0.001). There were no differences in number of patients with NMSC observed in the GD group (pre‐diagnosis, n = 6 [11.8%], post‐diagnosis, n = 7 [13.7%]; p = 1.000). Compared to the risks at 1 year post‐immunosuppressants, the incidence of NMSC of KTRs increased significantly at 3 years (20.3% vs. 35.4%, p < 0.001) and 5 years (20.3% vs. 62.2%, p < 0.001) post‐immunosuppressants, whereas the increased incidence of NMSC was observed only at 5 years (2.1% vs. 11.8%, p = 0.012) in the GD cohort. The mean cumulative number of NMSC in KTRs increased significantly at 3 years (p = 0.011), and 5 years (p = 0.001) post‐immunosuppressants, compared to the risks at 1 year post‐immunosuppressants, however, no differences were noted in the GD cohort. Discussion: Immunosuppressants increased the risk of NMSC in KTRs. The increased risk is likely dependent on the intensity and duration of immunosuppressants. Primary cutaneous SMARCA4‐deficient undifferentiated malignant neoplasm (SD‐UMN) is a rare and recently described entity characterized by the loss of expression of the SMARCA4 (BRG1) protein, which is involved in chromatin remodeling. SD‐UMN presents a diagnostic challenge due to its rarity and unique histopathological and immunohistochemical features. In this report, we present a case of primary cutaneous SD‐UMN in a 67‐year‐old man who presented with a rapidly growing, ulcerated, and bleeding nodule on his right cheek. Histopathological examination revealed a highly cellular dermal tumor consisting of pleomorphic epithelioid cells with prominent mitotic figures and necrosis, lacking any morphological evidence of differentiation. Immunohistochemical analysis showed a complete loss of SMARCA4 and SMARCA2 expression, while INI‐1 expression remained intact. p53 was diffusely expressed, and p16 was completely absent. In addition, a range of markers, including high‐molecular‐weight cytokeratin, p63, SOX10, INSM1, MCPyV, NKX2.2, CD99, CDX2, CD56, ERG, NUT, desmin, androgen receptor, chromogranin, CD34, and CD43 were all negative. To date, only two cases of primary cutaneous SMARCA4‐deficient undifferentiated tumors have been reported in the literature. Therefore, this case report adds to the limited body of knowledge on the clinical and histopathological features of this novel entity. Skin Cutaneous Melanoma (SKCM) is a form of cancer that originates in the pigment‐producing cells, known as melanocytes, of the skin. Delay wound healing is often correlated with the occurrence of and progression of SKCM. In this comprehensive study, we investigated the intricate roles of two important wound healing genes in SKCM, including Matrix Metalloproteinase‐2 (MMP2) and Matrix Metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9). Through a multi‐faceted approach, we collected clinical samples, conducted molecular experiments, including RT‐qPCR, bisulphite sequencing, cell culture, cell Counting Kit‐8, colony formation, and wound healing assays. Beside this, we also used various other databases/tools/approaches for additional analysis including, UALCAN, GEPIA, HPA, MEXPRESS, cBioPortal, KM plotter, DrugBank, and molecular docking. Our results revealed a significant up‐regulation of MMP2 and MMP9 in SKCM tissues compared to normal counterparts. Transforming Growth Factor‐Beta (TGF‐β) signalling pathway is of paramount importance in the processes of wound healing, epidermal integrity maintenance and development of skin cancer. The objective of this research endeavour was to clarify the impact of gene mutations and variations in expression within TGF‐β family on mechanisms of tissue repair, as well as to identify potential targets for therapeutic purposes in non‐melanoma skin cancer (NMSC). The methods utilized in this study involved obtaining RNA‐seq data from 224 NMSC patients and paired normal skin tissues from the PRJNA320473 and PRJEB27606 databases. The purpose of the differential gene expression analysis was to identify genes whose expression had changed significantly. In order to evaluate the effects and interrelationships of identified gene variants, structural analysis with AlphaFold and PDB data and network analysis with the STRING database were both utilized. Critical gene expression was externally validated through the utilization of the GEPIA database. Tumour tissues exhibited a notable upregulation of genes associated with the TGF‐β pathway, specifically MMP1, MMP3, MMP9, EGF, COL3A1 and COL1A2, in comparison with normal tissues. As indicated by the central node status of these genes in the network analysis, they play a crucial role in the progression of NMSCs. The results of the structural analysis suggested that mutations might cause functional disruptions. External validation of the upregulation confirmed the expression trends and emphasized the biomarker potential of the upregulated genes. The cytological examination of ES poses a diagnostic challenge, as it can be mistaken for various benign and malignant basaloid skin neoplasms. The cytomorphologic features of ES are infrequently documented in existing literature. This study seeks to present a thorough exploration of the cytomorphologic traits associated with ES, accompanied by an analysis of ancillary testing that contribute to the accurate identification of this entity in cytological specimens. Extramammary Paget disease (EMPD) is a rare skin tumor that manifests as poorly delimited lesions located mainly in genital area. Prognosis correlates with thickness and dermal invasion. The gold standard for diagnosis is the histopathological study of a biopsy. However, this technique is invasive and only shows a small area of the tumor. A good correlation has been reported between ultrasounds (US) and histopathologic finding. Moreover, a US examination has the advantages of wide availability, noninvasiveness, low cost, ease of use, and real‐time scanning. We review the ultrasound signs described for this disease. Here, we report a case of trichoblastoma mimicking a keratoacanthoma arising in a nevus sebaceous during pregnancy. Skin cancer is a significant health concern worldwide, and early and accurate diagnosis plays a crucial role in improving patient outcomes. In recent years, deep learning models have shown remarkable success in various computer vision tasks, including image classification. In this research study, we introduce an approach for skin cancer classification using vision transformer, a state-of-the-art deep learning architecture that has demonstrated exceptional performance in diverse image analysis tasks. The study utilizes the HAM10000 dataset; a publicly available dataset comprising 10,015 skin lesion images classified into two categories: benign (6705 images) and malignant (3310 images). This dataset consists of high-resolution images captured using dermatoscopes and carefully annotated by expert dermatologists. Preprocessing techniques, such as normalization and augmentation, are applied to enhance the robustness and generalization of the model. The vision transformer architecture is adapted to the skin cancer classification task. The model leverages the self-attention mechanism to capture intricate spatial dependencies and long-range dependencies within the images, enabling it to effectively learn relevant features for accurate classification. Segment Anything Model (SAM) is employed to segment the cancerous areas from the images; achieving an IOU of 96.01% and Dice coefficient of 98.14% and then various pretrained models are used for classification using vision transformer architecture. Extensive experiments and evaluations are conducted to assess the performance of our approach. The results demonstrate the superiority of the vision transformer model over traditional deep learning architectures in skin cancer classification in general with some exceptions. Upon experimenting on six different models, ViT-Google, ViT-MAE, ViT-ResNet50, ViT-VAN, ViT-BEiT, and ViT-DiT, we found out that the ML approach achieves 96.15% accuracy using Google's ViT patch-32 model with a low false negative ratio on the test dataset, showcasing its potential as an effective tool for aiding dermatologists in the diagnosis of skin cancer. Papillary hemangioma (PH) is a recently described vascular tumor with a predilection for the skin of the head and neck. Histopathologically, it is characterized by a bland endothelial proliferation arranged in a papillary configuration, bearing resemblance to glomeruloid hemangioma seen in the context of polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy, monoclonal protein, skin changes syndrome. The largest cutaneous PH reported to date measured 1.5 cm in greatest dimension. Here, we report a case of PH with an alarming size of 10 cm. We present this case to add to the limited literature on this rare tumor, highlight the histopathologic differences between PH and its mimics, and emphasize the variable nature of PH tumor size. So far, confusion exists regarding the question of whether hereditary perifollicular fibromas and fibrofolliculomas can be distinguished from each other. Here, histopathological arguments are presented to clarify this terminological problem. In 1977, Birt et al. described a large kindred affected with hereditary multiple "fibrofolliculomas," which they thought were "a hitherto unrecognized pilar hamartoma," but they never claimed the fibrofolliculomas were part of a syndrome. A careful microscopic comparison shows, however, that the tumors are clinically and histopathologically identical to perifollicular fibromas, as first described by Burnier and Rejšek in 1925. Their familial occurrence was discovered in 1971 by Civatte and Le Tréguilly. Before 1977, the term "perifollicular fibroma" was used for these skin tumors. By contrast, Hornstein and Knickenberg described in 1975 perifollicular fibromas as a cutaneous marker of a syndrome characterized by a predisposition to colon cancer and pneumothorax. Later, two French groups erroneously proposed the term "Birt–Hogg–Dubé syndrome" to describe the co‐occurrence of fibrofolliculomas, trichodiscomas, and acrochordons, which was contrary to what Birt et al. had in mind. Hence, today, we should discriminate between the hereditary nonsyndromic perifollicular fibromas, as documented by Civatte and Le Tréguilly and later by Birt et al., and the syndromic perifollicular fibromas, as delineated by Hornstein and Knickenberg. Background: The Victorian prison population is growing and ageing. Little has been documented about this group's cancer incidence, presentation or treatment. Aims: To conduct a retrospective review of Victorian prisoners with cancer, including assessment of change over 15 years and adequacy of treatment delivery. Methods: Detailed demographic, cancer and treatment data were collected for all prisoners with malignancy treated at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne from 2002 to 2017. Detailed analysis of adherence to Optimal Care Guidelines was undertaken for a subset. Descriptive statistics were used. Results: We identified 200 cancers in 191 prisoners. The population was predominantly male (185 of 191, 93%), with a median age of 54 years. Rates of cigarette smoking (118 of 191, 59%), mental illness (92 of 191, 46%) and intravenous drug use (59 of 191, 29.5%) were high. Exposure‐related cancers predominated (nonmelanoma skin cancer, lung cancer and hepatoma). Most were symptomatic (154 of 191, 77%) and almost one‐third had incurable disease at diagnosis (64 of 191, 32%). The number of prisoners with cancer increased over time (2002–2006 [T1], n = 31 vs 2012–2016 [T3], n = 101), as did the median age (45 years in T1 vs 55 years in T3) and rates of mental illness (10 of 31 [32%] in T1 vs 55 of 101 [54%] in T3). Delayed treatment initiation occurred in eight of 12 (66%) assessable patients, largely because of nonattendance. Conclusions: Victorian prisoners with cancer are at risk of poor outcomes because of late presentation, delayed treatment initiation and medical comorbidities.
