High‐performance OLED microdisplays have been developed using multi‐stack white OLED architectures for high brightness and long lifetime. In this work we describe the basics of technology employed to develop high efficiency red OLED panel for automotive lighting. The devices exhibit high luminance, long lifetime even at elevated temperatures and minimal color change with viewing angle. In this work, we describe the developments behind our “Brite3” generation rigid OLED lighting panels as well as bendable panels based on thin glass. In this work we describe the technology employed to develop a second generation high efficiency amber OLED panel for the healthcare industry. The significant difference between this and the first generation offering is that the new product utilizes phosphorescent emitting materials, resulting in 60 lm/W power efficacy. Additionally, long lifetime and good uniformity was achieved by stacking of multiple emissive layers. Development of this amber product utilized extensive reliability and qualification testing including usage of modern statistical methodologies to ensure a robust product with excellent quality. OLEDWorks has started production operations for manufacturing OLED lighting panels. Compared to OLED displays, affordability is much more important for market adoption of OLED lighting.
