This article discusses a multicenter randomized trial conducted in Italy to compare two protocols for screening fetal growth restriction (FGR) in the third trimester of pregnancy. The study recruited nulliparous singleton pregnancies with no risk factors for FGR and randomly assigned them to either a single scan protocol or a longitudinal scan protocol. The results showed that the longitudinal scan protocol identified more FGR fetuses and had a higher detection rate for small for gestational age (SGA) babies compared to the single scan protocol. Additionally, the longitudinal scan group had a lower rate of neonatal admission to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The study concludes that implementing routine third trimester ultrasound at 35-37 weeks' gestation in a low-risk population can improve FGR/SGA detection and lead to better perinatal outcomes. The introduction of the non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) has significantly improved the screening detection rate of the main chromosomopathies. The patients have been divided into 4 groups, based on the choice made at the first trimester screening: 1) no tests (47.7%); 2) ultrascreen (24.1%); 3) NIPT (14.1%); 4) invasive diagnosis (ID) (14.1%). Biometric and Doppler parameter reference charts (RC) impact the diagnosis and clinical management of fetal growth abnormalities. DV is usually used for timing the delivery in IUGR fetuses. Fetuses with abnormal DV had a significant increased risk of IUFD with a cumulative risk of 12% (CI.95 0-22%) during the first day versus 0% in normal DV (p<0.05). To assess which Doppler parameter during the II trimester ultrasound scan might predict small for gestational age (SGA) fetuses at term of pregnancy. We prospectively analysed neonatal and pregnancy outcomes of 46 singleton pregnancies that have performed a third trimester growth scan in a third level Clinic of North-East Italy focused on assessing pregnancies with high risk of intrauterine growth restriction development. Considering MoM values or the or CPR values less than the fifth centile no significant differences were found between different reference charts, however MoM values were significantly more predictive than CPR values less than the fifth centile. Fetal Doppler velocimetry is a useful technique in the evaluation of fetal wellbeing in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) pregnancies. Aims: 1. to evaluate if GDM pregnancies shows a different Doppler umbilical artery pattern versus the control group; 2. to establish if umbilical pulsatility index (UA-PI) could be suggestive, in different gestational week, of the maternal glycemic control; 3. to establish if UA-PI is related to fetal-maternal outcome. We considered umbilical artery and middle cerebral artery Doppler assessment. Umbilical artery PI ICC agreement was 0.80 (CI.95 0.57-0.91), middle cerebral artery maximal Doppler velocity ICC agreement was 0.29 (CI.95 0.00-0.52) and middle cerebral artery PI ICC was 0.75 (CI.95 0.49-0.96). Lipidomic analysis of amniotic fluid has been performed in women infected by CMV during 20-22 weeks of gestation in order to asses predictive marker of CMV disease assessed after birth in those infants with CMV disease. There were 21 women with CMV infection; among these 8 fetuses at birth presented CMV disease while 13 were normal. The aim of the study was to analyse right and left cardiac function in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), small-for-gestational-age (SGA) and appropriate-for-gestational-age (AGA) fetuses.
