Aim: To explore the experiences of health services among adults with cerebral palsy (CP) in Ireland, from the perspectives of adults with CP, their support people, and service providers. Method: A qualitative descriptive study design was used. In‐depth semi‐structured interviews were conducted between March and August 2021 with adults with CP, people who supported them, and health professionals. Thematic analysis was used to evaluate the data. Results: Twenty‐one adults with CP, seven support people (family carer[s], spouse or partner, or friend), and 15 service providers participated in the study. Adults had a mean age of 38 years 5 months (range 22–58 years) and were classified in Gross Motor Function Classification System levels I to V. Five themes were identified from the data: (1) access challenges in adult services; (2) knowledge and understanding of CP; (3) support people's role and care burden; (4) communication and interaction in adult services; and (5) health system challenges. Conclusion: Adults with CP in Ireland face multiple challenges accessing the health services they need. Services were reported to be inadequate, with limited resources and understanding of CP. Tissue‐mimicking reference phantoms are indispensable for the development and optimization of magnetic resonance (MR) measurement sequences. Phantoms have greatest utility when they mimic the MR signals arising from tissue physiology; however, many of the properties underlying these signals, including tissue relaxation characteristics, can vary as a function of magnetic field strength. There has been renewed interest in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at field strengths less than 1 T, and phantoms developed for higher field strengths may not be physiologically relevant at these lower fields. This work focuses on developing materials with specific relaxation properties for lower magnetic field strengths. Specifically, we developed recipes that can be used to create synthetic samples for target nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation values for fields between 0.0065 and 0.55 T. T1$$ {T}_1 $$ and T2$$ {T}_2 $$ mixing models for agarose‐based gels doped with a paramagnetic salt (one of CuSO4, GdCl3, MnCl2, or NiCl2) were created using relaxation measurements of synthetic gel samples at 0.0065, 0.064, and 0.55 T. Measurements were evaluated for variability with respect to measurement repeatability and changing synthesis protocol or laboratory temperature. The mixing models were used to identify formulations of agarose and salt composition to approximately mimic the relaxation times of five neurological tissues (blood, cerebrospinal fluid, fat, gray matter, and white matter) at 0.0065, 0.0475, 0.05, 0.064, and 0.55 T. These mimic sample formulations were measured at each field strength. Of these samples, the GdCl3 and NiCl2 measurements were closest to the target tissue relaxation times. The GdCl3 or NiCl2 mixing model recipes are recommended for creating target relaxation samples below 0.55 T. We present a nonapproximate computational method for generating G$G$‐optimal designs in response surface methodology (RSM) settings using Gloptipoly, a global polynomial optimizer. Traditional approaches use a grid approximation for computing a candidate design's G$G$‐score. Gloptipoly can find the global optimum of high‐order polynomials thus making it suitable for computing a design's G$G$‐score, that is, its maximum scaled prediction variance, which, for second‐order models, is a quartic polynomial function of the experimental factors. We demonstrate the efficacy and performance of our method through comprehensive application to well‐published examples, and illustrate, for the first time, its application to generating G$G$‐optimal designs supporting models of order greater than 2. This work represents the first non‐approximate computational approach to solving the G$G$‐optimal design problem. The planar Turán numberexP(n,H) of a graph H is the maximum number of edges in an n‐vertex planar graph without H as a subgraph. Let Ck denote the cycle of length k. The planar Turán number exP(n,Ck) is known for k≤7. We show that dense planar graphs with a certain connectivity property (known as circuit graphs) contain large near triangulations, and we use this result to obtain consequences for planar Turán numbers. In particular, we prove that there is a constant D so that exP(n,Ck)≤3n−6−Dn/klog2 3 for all k≥4 and n≥klog2 3. Introduction: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rapidly progressive neurodegenerative disease with no known cure, limited treatment options with minimal benefits, and significant unmet need for disease modifying therapies. Aims: This study investigated memantine's impact on ALS progression, with an additional focus on the effects of memantine on cognitive and behavioral changes associated with the disease. Methods: A randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled clinical trial was conducted from December 2018 to September 2020. ALS patients were enrolled in‐person and remotely across 13 sites in the United States. Participants were randomized to memantine (20 mg twice daily) or placebo in a 2:1 ratio and completed 36 weeks of treatment. The primary outcome of disease progression was assessed by the Revised Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS‐R), and blood was collected for biomarker analysis. Results: Of the 99 participants enrolled in the study, 89 were randomized to memantine or placebo (ages 24–83 years, male‐to‐female ratio ~3:2). Fifty‐two participants completed the study treatment with no significant differences in disease progression, biomarker changes (including neurofilament light chain [NfL]), or neuropsychiatric testing noted between the groups. Initial NfL values correlated with the rate of ALSFRS‐R decline. Discussion: In this study, memantine did not impact ALS disease progression or neuropsychiatric symptoms. Hyperpigmented melanistic lesions (HPMLs) are a visual anomaly documented on the skin of smallmouth bass Micropterus dolomieu in the Susquehanna River Basin, Pennsylvania and in numerous other geographical locations. Currently, there is a lack of information on environmental and fish characteristics that may influence the prevalence of HPMLs associated with a recently described Adomavirus. The goal of this study was to understand potential drivers associated with HPMLs in socioeconomically and ecologically important riverine smallmouth bass populations. A total of 16,220 smallmouth bass were collected and examined for HPMLs between 2012 and 2022 in the Susquehanna River Basin. Overall, HPMLs were documented on 2.9% of fish collected. The interaction between temperature and fish size suggested differing relationships between shorter and longer fish with respect to temperature. Predicted probability of HPML prevalence ranged from 1.1% (95% CI = 0.3, 3.2) at 4°C to 0.01% (CI = 0.00, 0.04) at 26°C for an age‐0 (125 mm) fish. In contrast, predicted probability of HPML prevalence ranged from 10.5% (95% CI = 5.8, 18.9) at 4°C to 0.8% (CI = 0.4, 1.5) at 26°C for an adult (322 mm) fish. Overall, HPMLs were more common in longer fish during cooler temperature periods which also corresponds to key life history periods for smallmouth bass (e.g., pre‐spawn and overwintering) and could represent different exposure histories for juvenile and adult fish. Background Methods Results Conclusion Despite progress in gender equality, female surgeons face unique career challenges. This dissertation explores the factors influencing female surgeons' careers, with the aim of identifying female surgeons' positive experiences, but also the obstacles they encounter, and the strategies they use to overcome challenges.A qualitative research methodology was employed to understand the experiences of female surgeons working at a single healthcare facility in Western Australia. An interpretivist approach guided the study, focusing on the subjective experiences and perceptions of the participants. Data was collected through semi‐structured interviews with female consultant surgeons. Braun and Clark's thematic analysis was used to identify and interpret key themes within the interview data.Some surgeons struggled with a lack of female mentorship. Participants experienced various forms of sexism, ranging from subtle biases to overt discrimination. Supportive family structures and effective time management are crucial for balancing professional and personal demands. Resilience and determination were essential for success. While some felt pressured to adopt traditionally masculine traits, others found value in maintaining traditionally feminine qualities, emphasizing the importance of authenticity.Barriers persist for female surgeons, including subtle discrimination, challenges related to motherhood, and pressure to conform to male stereotypes. Although overt harassment is less common, subtle forms can still affect one's mental health and career progression. Key points cAMP signalling is critical for memory consolidation and certain forms of long‐term potentiation (LTP). Phosphodiesterases (PDEs), enzymes that degrade the second messengers cAMP and cGMP, are highly conserved during evolution and represent a unique set of drug targets, given the involvement of these enzymes in several pathophysiological states including brain disorders. The PDE4 family of cAMP‐selective PDEs exert regulatory roles in memory and synaptic plasticity, but the specific roles of distinct PDE4 isoforms in these processes are poorly understood. Building on our previous work demonstrating that spatial and contextual memory deficits were caused by expressing selectively the long isoform of the PDE4A subfamily, PDE4A5, in hippocampal excitatory neurons, we now investigate the effects of PDE4A isoforms on different cAMP‐dependent forms of LTP. We found that PDE4A5 impairs long‐lasting LTP induced by theta burst stimulation (TBS) while sparing long‐lasting LTP induced by spaced four‐train stimulation (4 × 100 Hz). This effect requires the unique N‐terminus of PDE4A5 and is specific to this long isoform. Targeted overexpression of PDE4A5 in area CA1 is sufficient to impair TBS‐LTP, suggesting that cAMP levels in the postsynaptic neuron are critical for TBS‐LTP. Our results shed light on the inherent differences among the PDE4A subfamily isoforms, emphasizing the importance of the long isoforms, which have a unique N‐terminal region. Advancing our understanding of the function of specific PDE isoforms will pave the way for developing isoform‐selective approaches to treat the cognitive deficits that are debilitating aspects of psychiatric, neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders. Hippocampal overexpression of PDE4A5, but not PDE4A1 or the N‐terminus‐truncated PDE4A5 (PDE4A5Δ4), selectively impairs long‐term potentiation (LTP) induced by theta burst stimulation (TBS‐LTP). Expression of PDE4A5 in area CA1 is sufficient to cause deficits in TBS‐LTP. Hippocampal overexpression of the PDE4A isoforms PDE4A1 and PDE4A5 does not impair LTP induced by repeated tetanic stimulation at the CA3–CA1 synapses. These results suggest that PDE4A5, through its N‐terminus, regulates cAMP pools that are critical for memory consolidation and expression of specific forms of long‐lasting synaptic plasticity at CA3–CA1 synapses. Introduction: Chest ports are typically inserted via the right internal jugular vein with the left side being utilized in certain patient populations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the dynamic position of the chest port and catheter tip, comparing a demographically matched cohort of female breast cancer patients with right‐ or left‐sided chest ports. Methods: 142 female patients with breast cancer requiring chest port insertion for chemotherapy and imaging confirming catheter tip position initially with supine fluoroscopy and follow‐up with erect chest radiography over a 5‐year period were identified. Data points analyzed were catheter tip‐to‐carina distance and the distance from the port to the ipsilateral infraclavicular border. Intraprocedural measurements were taken in the supine position during chest port insertion and compared with follow‐up erect chest radiography. The catheter tip position was also allocated a zone within the venous system on both image sets to assess for significant retraction to a more proximal zone in the erect position. Imaging within 12‐months of chest port insertion was also screened to identify port‐related complications. Results: The whole cohort showed significant retraction of the catheter tip (cephalad) (p < 0.001) and protraction of the port (caudal) (p < 0.001). The median tip‐to‐carina distance decreased from 38.3 mm to 28.6 mm and the port‐to‐clavicle distance increased from 31.3 mm to 64.6 mm. Right‐sided chest ports had increased tip‐to‐catheter retraction (15 mm) compared with left‐sided (6.9 mm) (p = 0.310). A complication was identified in 8.5% of the right‐sided and 11% of the left‐sided ports. Zone migration was significantly associated with the occurrence of a complication in left‐sided ports (p = 0.023). Conclusion: When assessing chest port catheter tip position between supine and erect radiographic studies in female patients with breast cancer, retraction cephalad will occur and this is more apparent in right‐sided ports. Change in catheter tip position was not associated with a significant increase in complication rate unless it occurred in left‐sided ports where zone migration was evident. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Theory asserts larger brains facilitate behaviours that enhance fitness. Research has demonstrated that increased brain size improves cognition and survival. However, the majority of research has focused on cross‐species comparisons. Experiments that manipulate selection to investigate the connection between brain size, behaviour and fitness are needed. Trinidadian killifish (Anablepsoides hartii) live in communities with (high predation: HP) and without (killifish only: KO) predators. Predator absence is associated with high population densities, increased intraspecific competition and evolved larger brain sizes. We tested for evolutionary shifts in behaviour by subjecting second‐generation lab‐reared killifish to a mirror aggression assay. We also quantify selection on brain size and behaviour by transplanting wild HP killifish to KO sites and tracking individual fitness (growth rates) with a mark‐recapture design. Lab‐reared killifish from KO sites—specifically males—exhibited higher levels of aggression than HP killifish. In the transplant experiment, HP killifish exhibited strong increases in aggression following the introduction to KO sites. Increased brain size was correlated with increased growth in transplanted HP killifish, yet there was no association between brain size, aggression and growth. Our results indicate that declines in predation and increased competition favour increases in aggression but further research is needed to determine if and how brain size and behaviour are linked through natural selection. This study investigates how efforts to reduce learning costs of means‐tested public benefit programs impact public support of these programs and perceived deservingness of program beneficiaries. Focusing on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the United States, a well‐known means‐tested public benefit program, we integrate research from educational psychology with policy feedback theory, predicting that the structure of information about SNAP's application process and eligibility requirements affects learning costs and public attitudes toward this program and its beneficiaries. Testing these predictions through a preregistered dose–response survey experiment, participants are randomly assigned to control or one of three treatment groups, which incrementally alters the structure of SNAP information participants are exposed to. Our findings demonstrate that enhancing the SNAP information structure lowers learning costs and indirectly improves public support and perceived deservingness of beneficiaries. Objective: A recent randomized trial of a group psychosocial telehealth intervention (STRIDE) improved anxiety, depression, quality of life (QOL), symptom distress, coping, and self‐efficacy to manage symptoms related to taking adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) in women with non‐metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer. This study examined whether changes in coping and self‐efficacy mediated intervention effects on anxiety, depression, QOL, and symptom distress. Method: Women (N = 100) were recruited between 10/2019‐06/2021 from Massachusetts General Hospital and were randomized to STRIDE or to the medication monitoring control group. Participants completed self‐report measures of anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), QOL (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy‐Breast Cancer scale), symptom distress (Breast Cancer Prevention Trial Symptom Scale), coping (Measure of Current Status–Part A), and self‐efficacy (Self Efficacy for Managing AET Symptoms) at baseline and 24‐week follow‐up. Mediated regression models tested whether changes in coping ability and self‐efficacy mediated the intervention effects on anxiety, depression, QOL, and symptom distress, controlling for key variables. Results: Improvements in coping across the 24‐week study period mediated the effect of STRIDE on anxiety symptoms (indirect effect, B = −0.61, SE = 0.28, 95% CI: −1.28, −0.17), depressive symptoms (indirect effect, B = −0.50, SE = 0.21, 95% CI: −0.97, −0.15), and QOL (indirect effect, B = 3.80, SE = 1.25, 95% CI: 1.54, 6.49), but not symptom distress. Changes in self‐efficacy did not mediate improvements in any of the proposed outcomes. Conclusion: Coping is an essential component of a brief group psychosocial intervention that drives improvements in mood and QOL for women with non‐metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer taking AET. Background: SARS‐CoV‐2 infection in pregnancy predisposes women and their offspring to adverse health outcomes, while internationally reported rates of vaccination uptake remain low. Our study objective was to quantify the uptake of COVID‐19 vaccination in pregnant women, and to assess their attitudes toward vaccination in pregnancy with both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Materials and methods: This is a prospective, cross‐sectional survey at Australia's largest quaternary level maternity centre. A total of 351 pregnant women, at 6–42 weeks gestation receiving antenatal care at our hospital, completed an online voluntary, anonymous, 17 question survey. This was conducted during a five‐week period in November to December 2021. The main outcome measures were demographic data, prior SARS‐CoV‐2 infection and COVID‐19 vaccination status, knowledge and attitudes surrounding COVID‐19 disease and vaccination in pregnancy. Results: High rates of COVID‐19 vaccination were observed in this pregnant population. Of the 351 respondents, 82% had received at least one dose of the COVID 19‐vaccination. This increased compared to estimates of 15% in June 2021 which were obtained from the hospital's electronic health record. Conclusions: Our survey demonstrates that a strong public health campaign with clear messaging regarding the beneficial effects of COVID‐19 vaccination in pregnancy can lead to high vaccination uptake rates. Objective: In this report, we share results of a qualitative study of the experiences of pregnant incarcerated women (PIW), released women (RW), and home visitors who participated in an Early Head Start Home‐Based Option (EHS‐HBO) program that was delivered in a jail. We discuss the challenges of researching and supporting PIW's experiences and offer lessons learned. Background: Carceral environments such as jails present challenges for PIW that can compromise pregnancy outcomes. Research supports the efficacy of targeted interventions, such as EHS‐HBO, for other populations (e.g., people who use substances); however, these interventions have not yet reached incarcerated populations. Method: Through separate focus groups for PIW (n = 6) and home visitors (n = 5), and semistructured interviews with RW (n = 3), study participants shared their experiences as PIW and the carceral context. Results: Themes, determined inductively through thematic analysis, included (a) emotional pain from postdelivery separation, (b) struggles accessing help, (c) lack of faith in medical care, and (d) social support in and out of jail. Conclusion: Results from this study elucidate recommendations for home visitors visiting PIW in jail and training jail personnel about maternal health. Implications: Our study highlights the need to further develop home visiting programs and support for PIW and RW. Opportunities for training of jail and home visiting personnel were identified through the focus groups and interviews conducted. A debate in conservation genomics centers on whether to conserve small, fragmented populations independently or blend them through translocations from larger populations. Translocations of red grouse (Lagopus scotica) from Great Britain to supplement the Irish population have been suggested. We incorporate a variety of genetic datasets to address this. We used genome wide data from 23 contemporary and historic red grouse from Great Britain and Ireland. We also investigate microsatellite data, sequence candidate pigmentation genes, and assess phenotypic color variation. Genomic data indicate higher inbreeding in Irish grouse relative to an English population and significant divergence for genomic (FST = 0.095) and microsatellite (FST = 0.03) markers. Contemporary Ne was seven times smaller in the Irish population compared to the English. We identified divergent regions linked to pigmentation, immune response, and food intake. We show phenotypic differences in plumage color and sequence divergence among coding regions in the melanin pathway including MC1R (FST from genomic data of 0.3). The two populations thus appear locally adapted and this divergence between the source and target population when used for conservation translocations can swamp locally adapted alleles and/or introduce maladapted genotypes, leading to outbreeding depression. While it is important to avoid inbreeding by sustaining larger populations, our research emphasizes the need for practitioners to consider population divergence and local adaptation. We advocate against translocations between Ireland and Britain as a conservation strategy in this particular case and underscore the importance of prioritizing local populations where possible. Background: Excessive daytime sleepiness is a common and early symptom of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The subcortical wake‐promoting neurons in the lateral hypothalamic area, tuberomammillary nucleus (TMN), and locus coeruleus synchronize to maintain wakefulness/arousal. Although significant neuronal decline occurs in wake‐promoting regions, the TMN histaminergic neurons remain relatively more intact than orexinergic and nor‐adrenergic neurons. The preserved histaminergic neurons could be a potential target for addressing sleep dysfunction when neurons in the wake‐promoting system degenerate. We aimed to map neuropathological and molecular events in poorly understood histaminergic neurons across AD progression in the human TMN to help understand pathogenic features and guide therapeutic strategies. Method: We used unbiased stereology and double‐immunohistochemistry to quantify pTau (CP13) accumulation, the number of histaminergic, and total neurons in the TMN in subjects across progressive Braak stages (n = 20). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed‐rank test. We used a customized Neuropathology nCounter® (Nanostring) panel for proteomic analysis. Wald statistical test was used to compare the groups, and the genes were considered differentially expressed when the p‐value was <0.05. Result: TMN total neuronal count remained constant across Braak groups (BG), underscoring TMN's resilience to AD compared to other wake‐promoting neurons. Histaminergic (HDC+CP13‐) neurons declined between BG 0‐2 and 5‐6 (p = 0.013). The number, proportion, and density of pTau inclusions in histaminergic and total TMN neurons increased across BG (p<0.05) (Fig. 1, Table 1). In Braak 5‐6 over 0‐2, we found 284 differentially expressed genes in TMN, of which 171 were upregulated. Gene ontology analysis demonstrated upregulation of cytokine‐cytokine receptor interaction pathways (p = 0.015). In Braak 5‐6 over 0‐2, histamine decarboxylase (HDC) expression was downregulated (lfc = ‐0.819, p = 0.37) with increased expression of histamine receptors HRH1 (lfc = 1.26, p = 0.028) and HRH2 (lfc = 1.76, p = 0.019) (Fig. 2). Conclusion: Stereological data revealed that the decline in histaminergic neurons is associated with pTau accumulation and reduced histamine synthesis rather than neuronal loss. This is corroborated by a decrease in HDC expression and an upregulation of histaminergic receptor expression (potentially compensatory) in late Braak stages. Interventions focused on pTau removal may succeed in reinstating histaminergic neuro‐transmission/‐modulation, improving cognition, and restoring sleep‐wake dysfunction in AD patients. Focal status epilepticus, particularly the motor variant of epilepsia partialis continua (EPC), is a rare condition characterized by near‐continuous, chronic focal motor seizures, and associated with poor outcomes. Medications, including anesthetics, are often unsuccessful. Surgical resection can result in motor deficits. We report a medically complex pediatric case of super‐refractory EPC that was successfully managed with combined focal resection and responsive neuromodulation. Aims: The study aims are to present the Italian adaptation of the Abbreviated Clinical Structured Interview for DSM‐5 Attenuated Psychosis Syndrome (Mini‐SIPS) and illustrate its implementation in a clinical setting. Methods: The Mini‐SIPS was developed from the original extended version as a tool designed to identify, within the clinical high risk (CHR) framework, the DSM‐5 Attenuated Psychosis Syndrome (APS) and to be implemented in clinical settings. The Mini‐SIPS was translated in Italian by a Yale‐certified SIPS trainer, then back‐translated in English by a trained psychologist, then approved by the Mini‐SIPS authors. Since September 2021, the adapted Italian version of the Mini‐SIPS has been implemented at the First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Program in Ferrara, Italy. Results: The Italian version of Mini‐SIPS was successfully administered to 15 individuals subsequently referred to the First Episode Psychosis service in Ferrara. Within this sample, the tool has proven to be both an effective and efficient tool for the identification of CHR and FEP, and a valid instrument to help with the differential diagnosis. It also performed as a valuable guide for retrieving information about psychiatric history, to date the onset of APS and/or full‐blown psychosis, to track the progression from CHR to psychosis or to symptoms resolution and to describe patients' pathways to care. Conclusion: The Mini‐SIPS is an efficient and easy‐to‐use interview to identify the early stages of psychosis and established psychosis in clinical contexts. The Italian adaptation of this interview could be effectively implemented in other Italian FEP Programs as a screening and monitoring tool. Aim: There is limited research on the effects of sociodemographic and socioeconomic factors on treatment outcomes in youth at clinical high risk for psychosis (CHRp). This study examined sociodemographic factors that may affect functional outcomes within this population. Specifically, we investigated the influence of race/ethnicity (dichotomized as non‐Hispanic whites [NHW] vs. people of colour [POC]), socioeconomic status (SES; operationalized as parental years of education), and their interaction on change in psychosocial functioning and symptoms over 6 months in a randomized trial of family‐focused therapy. Methods: CHRp youth (N = 128) participated in a randomized trial of family therapy (18 sessions of family therapy vs. 3 sessions of family psychoeducation). Sixty‐four participants who self‐identified as POC and 64 self‐identified NHW participants completed baseline and 6‐month follow‐up measures of positive and negative symptoms and psychosocial (global, role, and social) functioning. Multiple regression models were conducted to test the main effect of race/ethnicity on changes in positive and negative symptoms and functioning, and whether this effect was moderated by parental education. Results: There was a significant interaction between race/ethnicity and parental education, such that higher parental education was associated with greater improvement in global functioning in NHW participants, but there was no relationship between parental education and global functioning in POC. Additionally, higher parental education was associated with a decrease in negative symptoms in NHW participants but not in POC. There were no significant effects of race/ethnicity or parental education on positive symptoms, nor on social or role functioning. Conclusions: Clinicians may consider tailoring psychosocial treatments according to the needs of diverse families who vary in sociodemographic factors such as educational attainment and race/ethnicity. Effective conservation strategies for animal populations require knowledge of relationships between population dynamics and their environmental drivers. However, these processes often vary within animal populations, requiring site‐specific conservation planning. Given limited financial resources, identifying groups of sites with similar population dynamics can help practitioners efficiently implement conservation programs to larger areas. We evaluated spatial patterns and environmental drivers of wintering site trends in a migratory bird of conservation concern, the Greenland white‐fronted goose (Anser albifrons flavirostris).We used latent class analysis to identify trend patterns in 35 years of abundance data among 59 geographically discrete Greenland white‐fronted goose wintering sites. We developed a state‐space abundance model in a Bayesian framework to quantify the effects of weather and land‐cover conditions experienced throughout spring migration, summer breeding, autumn migration and wintering periods on variation in wintering site abundance.We identified two main patterns in Greenland white‐fronted goose abundance trends: northeastern wintering sites declined on average by 3% per year, while southwestern wintering sites declined on average by 14% per year. Differential responses to weather and habitat conditions likely explained variation among groups, as geese at southwestern wintering sites were more negatively affected by harsh weather conditions (e.g. low temperatures and high precipitation on breeding areas) and poor habitat conditions (i.e. low‐quality grasslands and croplands) on wintering areas.Future conservation efforts to improve the suitability and nutritional quality of agricultural areas, especially cereal croplands in autumn and early winter and grasslands in late winter and early spring, could potentially improve local habitat conditions, especially in the southwestern wintering sites where abundance declines were steepest.Synthesis and applications. We demonstrate the potential to delineate animal populations based on spatial patterns in population dynamics using long‐term abundance monitoring data, which are commonly the only available data for conservation practitioners. By grouping sites based on spatial patterns in local abundance trends, we can further test hypotheses about how these groups are differentially affected by changing environmental conditions. Objectives: This scoping review will explore the literature related to rehabilitation interventions for the treatment of adults living with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), describe the domains and outcome measures used to assess their effectiveness, and examine the neurophysiological bases of these interventions. Introduction: The unremitting symptoms of CRPS, a chronic pain condition, are associated with long‐term disability, poor psychological health, decreased emotional and social well‐being, and reduced quality of life. Effective treatment for persistent symptoms is notoriously difficult. Therapeutic approaches such as graded motor imagery or pain exposure therapy are recommended for CRPS but show mixed results, insufficient effectiveness, variability in outcome measures, and unclear neurophysiological bases. Inclusion Criteria: This review will consider studies that include any form of non‐invasive rehabilitation intervention delivered by a healthcare professional in any setting for adults with a CRPS diagnosis. Quantitative, qualitative and observational studies, text and opinion papers will be considered. Methods: The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology will be used to conduct this scoping review. MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, APA PsycINFO, CINAHL, Cochrane, OpenGrey Google and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global (ProQuest) will be searched for studies in English published between 2007 and 2024. Two independent reviewers will screen the titles, abstracts, and full texts of the selected studies. Objective: We reviewed current research on group‐based parenting programs for racially and ethnically minoritized parents with preschoolers to provide a synthesis of how these programs are implemented. Background: Group‐based parenting programs are an efficient and cost‐effective means of providing education and support to multiple parents simultaneously (Olofsson et al., 2016), yet most have been developed for White families (Schilling et al., 2021). No previous research has presented a synthesis of work exploring the range of parenting programs and characteristics for racially and ethnically minoritized families with preschool‐aged children. Method: We conducted a scoping review guided by the foundations of family life education (FFLE) model (Darling et al., 2020) and using recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute, Arksey and O'Malley's (2005) framework, and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta‐Analyses (PRISMA) extension for scoping reviews guidelines. The final synthesis included 15 peer‐reviewed empirical studies. Results: Results highlight commonalities among programs, alignment with the FFLE model, and needs for future research with more diverse populations and specific child age groups. Conclusion: Group‐based parenting programs for racially and ethnically diverse families with preschoolers are effective but limited in number and scope. Implications: To ensure that parenting programs are effective and tailored to the diverse needs of individuals and their communities, it is important to consider cultural and contextual factors, make necessary adaptations to practices, content, and delivery methods, and involve racially and ethnically minoritized parents in developing, implementing, and evaluating these programs. The boreal winter of 2022/23 was notable as a third consecutive winter in which La Niña had an influence on the European weather. The GloSea6 seasonal forecast system predicted a blocked circulation pattern in the North Atlantic in early winter (December), and then a transition through mid‐winter (January) into a more zonal pattern in late winter (February), consistent with the canonical La Niña teleconnection pattern seen previously. The seasonal forecast for the UK was an increased likelihood of near average temperatures, and drier‐ and calmer‐than‐average conditions. Both the predicted broad‐scale circulation patterns and UK winter mean weather conditions verified well against observations, and we show that seasonal forecasts of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) over the last 10 winters show similar skill to previously reported hindcasts. Throughout the winter, the Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO) was particularly active. On three occasions, it exhibited strong phases 6 and 7. There was also a sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) that occurred on 16th February. This was followed by colder conditions and associated impacts similar to the canonical negative NAO response over the UK, although the main impact fell in March and so did not affect the winter (December–January–February) mean conditions. Blood oxygen level‐dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD fMRI) arises from a physiological and physical cascade of events taking place at the level of the cortical microvasculature which constitutes a medium with complex geometry. Several analytical models of the BOLD contrast have been developed, but these have not been compared directly against detailed bottom‐up modeling methods. Using a 3D modeling method based on experimentally measured images of mice microvasculature and Monte Carlo simulations, we quantified the accuracy of two analytical models to predict the amplitude of the BOLD response from 1.5 to 7 T, for different echo time (TE) and for both gradient echo and spin echo acquisition protocols. We also showed that accounting for the tridimensional structure of the microvasculature results in more accurate prediction of the BOLD amplitude, even if the values for SO2 were averaged across individual vascular compartments. A secondary finding is that modeling the venous compartment as two individual compartments results in more accurate prediction of the BOLD amplitude compared with standard homogenous venous modeling, arising from the bimodal distribution of venous SO2 across the microvasculature in our data. This paper provides the first known "heatmap" representing Australian public narratives across a range of groups experiencing disadvantage developed from a comprehensive literature review of primary Australian studies between 2020 and 2021. Eleven narratives were identified across 14 population groups with the most frequent being deficit narratives, misrepresentation of the issue and 'absent' narratives (group being described not represented in the narrative). The most frequently described groups were Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people living with a disability, racial minorities and women. The heatmap resonated with three global review‐level studies and findings of supplementary qualitative interviews. Examination of relationships between the heatmap and empirical Australian disadvantage data enabled identification of missing and misleading public narratives. Attempts to disrupt such narratives can improve the understanding of disadvantage by more truthfully reflecting the lives, experiences and challenges of groups experiencing disadvantage. Objective: Early life success of fishes is considered one of the most important drivers of recruitment to adult populations, and elucidating the governing mechanisms is important for management efforts. Many hypotheses over the past century have been proposed to explain recruitment fluctuation, with the recently postulated Trophic Efficiency in Early Life (TEEL) hypothesis arguing that a shorter food chain length equals greater energy transfer efficiency from primary producers to larval fishes, thereby reducing early‐life mortality and ultimately leading to stronger recruitment. Under TEEL it would then be assumed that feeding low in the food chain would improve growth and body condition, as these are often shown to be associated with increased survival in larval fishes. The objective of this study was to test this aspect of the TEEL hypothesis by quantifying condition, growth, and trophic level of larval Shortbelly Rockfish Sebastes jordani collected by the California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigations program and archived at the Ichthyoplankton Collection. Methods: The trophic level on larval Shortbelly Rockfish was assessed with compound‐specific isotopic analysis of amino acids. Their size at age and survival were estimated with otolith microstructure. Their diet was examined through stomach content analysis. Result: Observations indicate that larvae consuming prey at a lower trophic level have greater body weight and exhibit faster growth rates. However, feeding at a lower trophic level did not influence body length. The ingested prey responsible for the lower trophic level within larval rockfish could not be determined. Conclusion: Larval Shortbelly Rockfish consuming prey at a lower trophic level garnered greater body weight and exhibited faster growth rates and provides support for the TEEL hypothesis. However, further research is needed to identify the preferred prey(s) responsible for the more efficient energy transfer. Systemic fungal pathogens typically gain entry through a single portal and disseminate to affect multiple body systems. Infections caused by fungal Penicillium species are rare in dogs, and these cases have a poor prognosis. An unknown Penicillium species was isolated from the right eye of a middle‐aged Border Collie without evidence of systemic disease. Due to financial limitations, an extensive diagnostic evaluation could not be performed. Histopathology alone failed to identify the specific causative agent; however, fungal culture on aqueous humor provided the definitive diagnosis. The present study was designed to test the potential utility of regional cerebral oxygen saturation (rcSO2) in detecting term infants with brain injury. The study also examined whether quantitative rcSO2 features are associated with grade of hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). We analysed 58 term infants with HIE (>36 weeks of gestational age) enrolled in a prospective observational study. All newborn infants had a period of continuous rcSO2 monitoring and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assessment during the first week of life. rcSO2 Signals were pre‐processed and quantitative features were extracted. Machine‐learning and deep‐learning models were developed to detect adverse outcome (brain injury on MRI or death in the first week) using the leave‐one‐out cross‐validation approach and to assess the association between rcSO2 and HIE grade (modified Sarnat – at 1 h). The machine‐learning model (rcSO2 excluding prolonged relative desaturations) significantly detected infant MRI outcome or death in the first week of life [area under the curve (AUC) = 0.73, confidence interval (CI) = 0.59−0.86, Matthew's correlation coefficient = 0.35]. In agreement, deep learning models detected adverse outcome with an AUC = 0.64, CI = 0.50−0.79. We also report a significant association between rcSO2 features and HIE grade using a machine learning approach (AUC = 0.81, CI = 0.73−0.90). We conclude that automated analysis of rcSO2 using machine learning methods in term infants with HIE was able to determine, with modest accuracy, infants with adverse outcome. De novo approaches to signal analysis of NIRS holds promise to aid clinical decision making in the future. Aquatic species found in habitats with limited shade and little dissolved organic carbon (DOC) have increased vulnerability to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) damage. Pigmentation is a common mechanism used by animals for protection from UVR. A pigmented bdelloid rotifer, Philodina, occurs in high densities in shallow rock pools in El Paso Co., TX, and is subject to repeated desiccation and high UVR. To understand the roles of DOC, pigmentation, and dormancy in reducing the effects of UVR exposure in these rotifers: (1) DOC levels in rock pools were measured before and after the summer monsoon season and (2) hydrated or dormant bdelloids (desiccated for 0, 1, 7, or 32 d) that differed in degree of pigmentation (highly, moderately, lightly, and none) were exposed to three intensities of UVB radiation (low, mid, or high) and monitored for survival after 48 h. Pigmented bdelloids were found in rock pools with lower DOC concentrations. Logistic regression analysis indicated that pigmentation level, desiccation time, and UVB intensity all affected survival. Bdelloids in the dormant form for 1 d were more resistant to UVB exposure at all pigmentation levels. However, as desiccation time increased, the odds of surviving decreased. Hydrated highly pigmented bdelloids were three times more likely to survive desiccation, UVB radiation, and their combined effects. Prolonged periods of drought due to the changing climate will alter DOC concentrations, causing photoprotection to become an increasingly important survival strategy for aquatic invertebrates, especially those inhabiting shallow waters. Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare, usually drug‐induced, acute pustular rash. Despite the lack of strong data supporting the effectiveness of topical or systemic corticosteroids in this drug reaction, they are widely used. More generally, there is no consensus on the diagnostic modalities and the management of patients with AGEP. We aimed to provide European expert recommendations for the diagnosis and management or patients with AGEP. Members of the ToxiTEN group of the European Reference Network (ERN)‐skin, all dermatologists and/or allergologists with expertise in drug reactions, elaborated these recommendations based on their own experience and on a review of the literature. Recommendations were separated into the following categories: professionals involved, assessment of the diagnosis of AGEP, management of the patient and allergological work‐up after the acute phase. Consensus was obtained among experts for the list of professionals involved for the diagnosis and management of AGEP, including the minimum diagnostic work‐up, the setting of management, the treatments, the modalities and the timing of allergological work‐up and follow‐up. European experts in drug allergies propose herein consensus on the diagnosis and management of patients with AGEP. Background: COVID‐19‐associated hospitalization rates by age and comorbid conditions can more precisely assess risk for severe illness and target prevention and treatment strategies. Methods: We performed a retrospective study to estimate population‐based COVID‐19‐associated hospitalization among patients by age and selected comorbid conditions in three hospital systems in Rochester and New York City (NYC), NY. Incidence rate ratios (IRR) comparing incidence rates for patients with and without these comorbidities were determined. Results: From March 2020 to December 2021, 7779 patients were hospitalized with COVID‐19 of whom 43.8% had ≥3 comorbid conditions. Overall annual incidence ranged from 325.3 to 965.8 per 100,000 persons. Age group‐specific incidence was lowest in children 10–14 years (range 4.4–58.9) and highest in adults ≥85 years (range 2790.5–5889.6). Incidence rates for comorbid conditions generally increased with increasing age while IRR decreased with increasing age. Children in NYC 5–17 years with asthma or obesity had 3.4 and 53.3 times higher hospitalization rates, respectively, than children without these conditions. Adults in all age groups with obesity, diabetes, coronary artery disease, or congestive heart failure CHF had 1.6–4.7 times, 1.7–7.2 times, 2.0–10.1 times, or 1.7–20.2 times higher hospitalization rates, respectively, than those without these conditions. Adults ≥50 years with asthma had 1.5 to 1.8 times higher hospitalization rates than those without asthma. Conclusions: The burden of hospitalization with COVID‐19 was high, particularly among adults ≥85 years and adults with obesity, diabetes, CAD, or CHF. However, the impact of comorbidities was less in older adults. BACKGROUND: Adolescent suicide is a public health issue, and school is an ideal setting for prevention activities. LEARN is a peer‐led gatekeeper training for high school personnel, parents, and students. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of LEARN as a gatekeeper training. METHODS: Paired t tests were used to compare pre‐ and post‐training surveys for 4983 LEARN participants. RESULTS: Participants reported an increased likelihood of engaging in each LEARN step: looking for signs, empathizing and listening, asking about suicide thoughts and plans, reducing danger, and connecting the person with help. Most participants were highly satisfied with the peer trainer's delivery of content. CONCLUSIONS: LEARN gatekeeper training was successfully implemented in high schools with students, parents, and school personnel. All groups reported increases in likelihood of approaching and providing support and connections for at‐risk individuals and rated the trainer as effective, indicating satisfaction with the peer‐led training format. Background: Parent‐mediated intervention (PMI) is a potentially scalable approach for tailored interventions in neurogenetic conditions like Down syndrome (DS). Because PMIs require ongoing parent engagement, they must be developed in alignment with the needs of intended users. The present study examined caregiver opinions and preferences to inform the development of syndrome‐informed interventions for children with DS. Method: Parents of children with DS (n = 34) participated in focus groups discussing PMI. Interviews were transcribed and a thematic analysis was applied to code the data. Results: Three themes were identified: advantages of PMI, disadvantages of PMI and preferred features of PMI. To align with parent preferences, future PMIs for children with DS should require a brief time commitment, blend intervention activities into daily routines and include family members in activities. Summary: Societal Impact Statement: Climate change continues to intensify the challenges of food production as agricultural systems face more variable and extreme weather. Coupled with increasing human population, growers must balance increasing crop yields with nutrient content to prevent global malnutrition. Photosynthetic diversity may permit some crops to tolerate climate change and elevated CO2 whilst maintaining both crop yield quantity and quality. This review examines how photosynthetic diversity interacts with crop production and nutritional stability under elevated CO2 and climate change, and highlights opportunities for photosynthetic diversity to inspire agricultural solutions. Summary: Innovative agricultural solutions are desperately needed to achieve food security for a growing human population amidst the imminent pressures of climate change that threaten more variable and extreme weather, placing additional pressures on already precarious agricultural systems. Not only are crop yields at risk under climate change but rising global atmospheric CO2 concentrations are concurrently driving a carbon dilution effect that threatens to reduce the nutritional quality of our crops to further global malnutrition. Plants using different photosynthetic metabolisms, however, experience these negative impacts to yield and nutrition to different degrees. Thus, photosynthetic diversity may offer solutions to combat malnutrition under climate change and elevated CO2 concentrations, whether that be through targeting existing resilient species for agricultural programmes or applying agricultural biotechnology to engineer photosynthetic diversity into existing crops. Here, we discuss how each major photosynthetic type is predicted to fare under elevated CO2 concentrations and climate change and explore agricultural opportunities to maintain both yield and nutrient stability. Higher concentrations of ambient air pollutants, including PM2.5 and NO2, and other pollutants have been found near active oil and gas wells and may be associated with adverse COVID‐19 outcomes. We assessed whether residential exposure to nearby oil and gas production was associated with higher rates of the respiratory infection COVID‐19 and related mortality using a population‐based ecological study in California. Using gridded population estimates, we estimated area‐level exposure to annual average oil and gas production volume from active wells within 1 kilometer (km) of populated areas within census block groups from 2018 to 2020. We geocoded confirmed cases and associated deaths to assess block group case and mortality rates from COVID‐19 from February 2020 to January 2021. We fit hierarchical Poisson models with individual and area covariates (e.g., age, sex, socioeconomic disadvantage), and included time and other interactions to assess additional variation (e.g., testing, reporting rates). In the first 4 months of the study period (February–May 2020), block groups in the highest tertile of oil and gas production exposure had 34% higher case rates (IRR: 1.34 95% CI: 1.20, 1.49) and 55% higher mortality rates (MRR: 1.52 95%: CI: 1.14, 2.03) than those with no estimated production, after accounting for area‐level covariates. Over the entire study period, we observed moderately higher mortality rates in the highest group (MRR: 1.16 95%: CI: 1.01, 1.33) and null associations for case rates. Plain Language Summary: Exposure to air, noise, light pollution and other localized stressors from active oil and gas drilling may affect the immune and cardiovascular systems and respiratory health, including diseases such as COVID‐19. This study reports on COVID‐19 case and death rates in communities within 10 km of active oil and gas production. We observed that California communities that were located less than 1 km from an actively producing oil and gas well were more likely to have higher COVID‐19 case and death rates in the first 4 months of the pandemic, especially when the level of production was high. Across our entire study time (February 2020–January 2021), we did not observe higher rates of cases or deaths in these communities, except for deaths in communities with the highest amount of production. These results suggest that if there is an effect of oil and gas production on COVID‐19 rates, it may be on the number of people that become severely ill; overall, it suggests that more research may help to understand why different communities had different levels of COVID‐19. Objectives: To assess human in vivo intrarenal pressure (IRP) and peristaltic activity at baseline and after ureteric stent placement, using a narrow calibre pressure guidewire placed retrogradely in the renal pelvis. Patients and Methods: A prospective, multi‐institutional study recruiting consenting patients undergoing ureteroscopy was designed with ethical approval. Prior to ureteroscopy, the urinary bladder was emptied and the COMET™ II pressure guidewire (Boston Scientific) was advanced retrogradely via the ureteric orifice to the renal pelvis. Baseline IRPs were recorded for 1–2 min. At procedure completion, following ureteric stent insertion, IRPs were recorded for another 1–2 min. Statistical analysis of mean baseline IRP, peristaltic waveforms and frequency of peristaltic contractions was performed, thereby analysing the influence of patient variables and ureteric stenting. Results: A total of 100 patients were included. Baseline mean (±SD) IRP was 16.76 (6.4) mmHg in the renal pelvis, with maximum peristaltic IRP peaks reaching a mean (SD) of 25.75 (17.9) mmHg. Peristaltic activity generally occurred in a rhythmic, coordinated fashion, with a mean (SD) interval of 5.63 (3.08) s between peaks. On univariate analysis, higher baseline IRP was observed with male sex, preoperative hydronephrosis, and preoperative ureteric stenting. On linear regression, male sex was no longer statistically significant, whilst the latter two variables remained significant (P = 0.004; P < 0.001). The mean (SD) baseline IRP in the non‐hydronephrotic, unstented cohort was 14.19 (4.39) mmHg. Age, α‐blockers and calcium channel blockers did not significantly influence IRP, and no measured variables influenced peristaltic activity. Immediately after ureteric stent insertion, IRP decreased (mean [SD] 15.18 [5.28] vs 16.76 [6.4] mmHg, P = 0.004), whilst peristaltic activity was maintained. Conclusions: Human in vivo mean (SD) baseline IRP is 14.19 (4.39) mmHg in normal kidneys and increases with both hydronephrosis and preoperative ureteric stenting. Mean (SD) peristaltic peak IRP values of 25.75 (17.9) mmHg are reached in the renal pelvis every 3–7 s and maintained in the early post‐stent period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Adaptive behaviour refers to the practical skills necessary for independence and is considered a high‐priority intervention target for children with neurogenetic conditions associated with intellectual disability, like Down syndrome (DS). Daily living skills (DLS) are a critical aspect of adaptive behaviour, but they have received little intervention attention, possibly because they involve a wide variety of skills across many settings. The present study aimed to advance DLS intervention science by examining the concurrent and longitudinal association between DLS performances and a cognitive skillset hypothesised to support DLS skill acquisition, executive function (EF). Methods: Participants were 71 children with DS between the ages of 2.5 and 8.7 years (M = 5.23 years; standard deviation = 1.65) who completed a battery of adapted EF tasks and a primary caregiver who completed the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales 3rd Edition Parent/Caregiver Comprehensive Report Form. A subset of caregivers also provided 6‐ and 12‐month follow‐up adaptive behaviour information. Results: Results demonstrated a positive association between EF task performance and DLS standard scores and v‐scores both concurrently and longitudinally. Background: Malnutrition screening is not widely practiced in outpatient cancer centers. This review aims to determine the validity of malnutrition screening tools and provide recommendations for clinical use. Methods: Studies identified by a systematic review assessed the general validity of screening tools in adult oncology outpatients from five databases through 2022. The American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) convened a working group of members from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators, American Cancer Society, American Society for Clinical Oncology, American Society for Nutrition, American Society for Radiation Oncology, Association of Cancer Care Centers, and Oncology Nursing Society to answer the following questions: (1) should clinicians screen for malnutrition, (2) which malnutrition screening tools are recommended, and (3) what are the clinical applications for malnutrition risk screening in adult oncology outpatients? Results: Twenty of 738 studies met the criteria and were reviewed. Six screening tools with specific cut‐points demonstrated validity and are recommended, including the Mini Nutritional Assessment (≤23.5), Malnutrition Screening Tool (MST; MST ≥ 2 and patient‐led MST ≥ 2), Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST; MUST ≥ 1 and MUST ≥ 2), Nutrition Risk Screening‐2002 (NRS‐2002; NRS‐2002 ≥ 2 and NRS‐2002 ≥ 3), NUTRISCORE ≥ 5, and Patient‐Generated Subjective Global Assessment Short Form (PG‐SGA SF; PG‐SGA SF ≥ 7 and PG‐SGA SF ≥ 8). Conclusion: Six screening tools are valid for malnutrition risk identification in oncology ambulatory settings and recommended before treatment initiation and regularly thereafter, depending on treatment course. The European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA) brings together European umbrella organizations of pan‐European neurological patient advocacy groups (www.efna.net) and strives to improve the quality of life of people living with neurological conditions and to work towards relieving the immense social and economic burden on patients, carers and society in general. This article provides an overview of EFNA's activities and achievements over the past two decades, the evolution of patient advocacy during those years, and the increased role and impact of the European patient voice in the neurological arena. Aim: Private practice is one of the most rapidly growing, but under‐researched employment sectors for graduate dietitians in Australia, limiting evidence‐based workforce development. This scoping review examines existing international literature to gain an understanding of the current private practice workforce size, distribution, demography and workforce development considerations, including competencies, supply and demand, remuneration and professional development activities. Methods: The databases MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, EMCARE, PsycInfo (Ovid) and grey literature were systematically searched in August 2023 using key search terms to identify studies for inclusion. Articles were included if they related to private practice dietetics and described an aspect of workforce. Original research, government and organisational reports, statements of practice and websites providing governmental or organisational statistics were included. A directed content analysis and qualitative constant comparison technique were used to deductively map intelligence sources against a workforce development framework. A gap analysis was also conducted to provide a focus for future workforce development research. Results: A total of 72 peer‐reviewed and grey literature sources were included, with 65% of the studies being Australian‐based publications. Private practice dietetics research interest has increased in the last decade. Despite a breadth of published sources, this review found little published data on workforce size, distribution, demography, supply, demand, continued professional development and remuneration, indicating a significant gap in the evidence base. Existing literature focuses on workforce challenges and barriers, the work of private practice dietitians, with limited exploration of competency requirements for graduate private practitioners. Conclusions: The literature on the private practice dietetics workforce is lacking worldwide, which constrains evidenced‐based workforce development initiatives. Miami‐Dade County (MDC) has over 112,000 septic systems, some of which are at risk of compromise due to water table rise associated with sea level rise. MDC is surrounded by protected water bodies, including Biscayne Bay, with environmentally sensitive ecosystems and is underlain by highly transmissive karstic limestone. The main objective of the study is to provide first estimates of the locations and magnitudes of septic return flows to discharge endpoints. This is accomplished by leveraging MDC's county‐scale surface‐groundwater model using pathline analysis to estimate the transport and discharge fate of septic system flows under the complex time history of groundwater flow response to pumping, canal management, storms, and other environmental factors. The model covers an area of 4772 km2 in Southeast Florida. Outputs from the model were used to create a 30‐year (2010 to 2040) simulation of the spatial–temporal pathlines from septic input locations to their termination points, allowing us to map flow paths and the spatial distribution of the septic flow discharge endpoints under the simulated conditions. Most septic return flows were discharged to surface water, primarily canals 52,830 m3/d and Biscayne Bay (5696 m3/d), and well fields (14,066 m3/d). Results allow us to identify "hotspots" to guide water quality sampling efforts and to provide recommendations for septic‐to‐sewer conversion areas that should provide most benefit by reducing nutrient loading to water bodies. This research examines how sponsored user‐generated content influences consumer engagement on TikTok across three studies. In the first study, we demonstrate that when content creators endorse brands through sponsorship, they are perceived as less authentic. This perceived lack of authenticity, in turn, reduces consumer engagement with brands. In the second study, we show that the influence of sponsorship on consumer engagement is moderated by the content creator's popularity, as reflected by their follower count. Specifically, the negative effect of sponsorship on consumer engagement is observed only among popular creators with large followings, while less popular creators do not experience the same negative impact. In the third study, we show that for popular creators, sponsorship can enhance consumer engagement when the endorsed brand is perceived as small, compared to when it is perceived as large. Together, these findings extend our theoretical understanding of how sponsored user‐generated content shapes consumer engagement on TikTok. Additionally, our research provides valuable insights for brand managers aiming to develop effective digital marketing strategies and for content creators looking to optimize engagement with their audience. White adipose tissue (WAT) is a robust energy storage and endocrine organ critical for maintaining metabolic health as we age. Our aim was to identify cell‐specific transcriptional aberrations that occur in WAT with aging. We leveraged full‐length snRNA‐Seq and histology to characterize the cellular landscape of human abdominal subcutaneous WAT in a prospective cohort of 10 younger (≤30 years) and 10 older individuals (≥65 years) balanced for sex and body mass index (BMI). The older group had greater cholesterol, very‐low‐density lipoprotein, triglycerides, thyroid stimulating hormone, and aspartate transaminase compared to the younger group (p < 0.05). We highlight that aging WAT is associated with adipocyte hypertrophy, increased proportions of lipid‐associated macrophages and mast cells, an upregulation of immune responses linked to fibrosis in pre‐adipocyte, adipocyte, and vascular populations, and highlight CXCL14 as a biomarker of these processes. We show that older WAT has elevated levels of senescence marker p16 in adipocytes and identify the adipocyte subpopulation driving this senescence profile. We confirm that these transcriptional and phenotypical changes occur without overt fibrosis and in older individuals that have comparable WAT insulin sensitivity to the younger individuals. Fishing communities globally continue to face poor health and safety outcomes, driving the expansion of fisheries occupational health and safety (OHS) interventions. However, narrowly focused OHS interventions that neglect the social and structural determinants of health may have unintended consequences. We illustrate this problem through a case study from the UK where a recent OHS intervention, the introduction of compulsory medical certificates to all commercial fishers, led to unforeseen negative impacts. Through analysis of data from interviews, focus groups and a participatory workshop in Cornwall, UK, we highlight three key findings. First, while seeking to improve safety at sea, the regulatory change actually had negative consequences for fishers' health, their access to healthcare and potentially even their safety. Second, a mismatch between the requirements of the regulation and fishers' lived experience undermined the efforts of health promotion and outreach activities. Third, a failure to account for the implications for different sectors of the fleet has contributed to mistrust that may have ramifications for future fisheries governance activity. Our research brings to the fore important implications for the design of OHS regimes in fisheries. These include the broadening of OHS approaches to consider fishers' wider health and well‐being; engagement of fishers in the development and implementation of OHS interventions to account for their lived experiences of health and safety at sea and better integrate their knowledge; support for bottom‐up fisher‐led initiatives aimed at managing health and safety at sea; and improved coordination between agencies responsible for different areas of fisheries governance. A thorough literature search is a key feature of scoping reviews. We investigated the search practices used by social science researchers as reported in their scoping reviews. We collected scoping reviews published between 2015 and 2021 from Social Science Citation Index. In the 2484 included studies, we observed a 58% average annual increase in published reviews, primarily from clinical and applied social science disciplines. Bibliographic databases comprised most of the information sources in the primary search strategy (n = 9565, 75%), although reporting practices varied. Most scoping reviews (n = 1805, 73%) included at least one supplementary search strategy. A minority of studies (n = 713, 29%) acknowledged an LIS professional and few listed one as a co‐author (n = 194, 8%). We conclude that to improve reporting and strengthen the impact of the scoping review method in the social sciences, researchers should consider (1) adhering to PRISMA‐S reporting guidelines, (2) employing more supplementary search strategies, and (3) collaborating with LIS professionals.
