Syngas conversion serves as a gas‐to‐liquid technology to produce liquid fuels and valuable chemicals from coal, natural gas, or biomass. During syngas conversion, sintering is known to deactivate the catalyst owing to the loss of active surface area. However, the growth of nanoparticles might induce the formation of new active sites such as grain boundaries (GBs) which perform differently from the original nanoparticles. Herein, we reported a unique Cu‐based catalyst, Cu nanoparticles with in situ generated GBs confined in zeolite Y (denoted as activated Cu/Y), which exhibited a high selectivity for C5+ hydrocarbons (65.3 C%) during syngas conversion. Such high selectivity for long‐chain products distinguished activated Cu/Y from typical copper‐based catalysts which mainly catalyze methanol synthesis. This unique performance was attributed to the GBs, while the zeolite assisted the stabilization through spatial confinement. Specifically, the GBs enabled H‐assisted dissociation of CO and subsequent hydrogenation into CHx*. CHx* species not only serve as the initiator but also directly polymerize on Cu GBs, known as the carbide mechanism. Meanwhile, the synergy of GBs and their vicinal low‐index facets led to the CO insertion where non‐dissociative adsorbed CO on low‐index facets migrated to GBs and inserted into the metal‐alkyl bond for the chain growth. This article discusses the role of human involvement in enhancing the performance of large language models (LLMs) in medical inquiry. The authors highlight the occasional shortcomings of LLMs in providing accurate citation information and accessing real-time data. They recommend prompt engineering as a way to enhance model performance, which involves carefully crafting instructions or queries given to LLMs to elicit specific and desired responses. The article also discusses the importance of verifying LLM outputs and acknowledges the limitations of LLMs in medical diagnoses and personalized advice. The human permanent dentition has been commonly used for personal identification due to its uniqueness. Limited research, however, is conducted using 3D digital dental models. We propose to develop a new 3D superimposition method using the contours of human dentition and to further evaluate its feasibility. A total of 270 intraoral scan models were collected from 135 subjects. After a one‐year interval, 52 subjects were chosen at random and the secondary intraoral scan models were obtained. The dentition contours of the first and secondary models were extracted to form a resource dataset and a test dataset. Through the application of the iterative nearest point (ICP) algorithm, the test dataset was registered with the resource dataset, and the root mean square error (RMSE) values of the point‐to‐point distances were calculated. 104 genuine pairs and 13,936 imposter pairs were generated, and in this study, the registration accuracy was 100%. The difference between mean RMSE values for the genuine pair (0.20 ± 0.06 mm) and the minimum RMSE value for the imposter pair (0.83 ± 0.06 mm) was significant in the maxillary arch (p < 0.05). Similarly, in the mandibular arch, the difference between mean RMSE values for the genuine pair (0.22 ± 0.07 mm) and the minimum RMSE value for the imposter pair (0.85 ± 0.08 mm) was significant (p < 0.05). The difference between the RMSE value for the genuine pair in the maxillary and the mandibular arch was significant (p < 0.05). Tuning the surface strain of heterogeneous catalysts is recognized as a powerful strategy for tailoring their catalytic activity. However, a clear understanding of the strain effect in electrocatalysis at single‐particle resolution is still lacking. Here, we explore the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) of single Pd octahedra and icosahedra with the same surface bounded {111} crystal facet and similar sizes using scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM). It is revealed that tensilely strained Pd icosahedra display significantly superior HER electrocatalytic activity. The estimated turnover frequency at −0.87 V vs RHE on Pd icosahedra is about two times higher than that on Pd octahedra. Our single‐particle electrochemistry study using SECCM at Pd nanocrystals unambiguously highlights the importance of tensile strain on electrocatalytic activity and may offer new strategy for understanding the fundamental relationship between surface strain and reactivity. Lipoxin A4 (LXA4) has been identified as the braking signal of inflammation, but the specific role of LXA4 in regulating the regenerative potential of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate whether and, if so, how LXA4 improves the osteogenic differentiation of PDLSCs in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced inflammatory environment. We detected the effects of LXA4 on the osteogenic differentiation of PDLSCs in vitro and explored the bone regenerative potential of LXA4‐treated inflammatory PDLSCs in vivo using a calvarial critical sized defect model in male rats. RNA sequencing, real‐time PCR and western blot were performed to elucidate the relevant potential mechanisms. Results showed that LXA4 promoted the proliferation, migration and osteogenic differentiation of PDLSCs in vitro, and effectively improved the impaired osteogenic capacity of PDLSCs induced by LPS both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, LXA4 significantly promoted the PI3K/AKT phosphorylation under inflammatory conditions. Additionally, LY294002 (a PI3K inhibitor) blocked the effect of LXA4, suggesting that the PI3K/AKT pathway is a key signaling pathway that mediates the effect of LXA4 on the osteogenesis of inflammatory PDLSCs. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of the Corydalis yanhusuo total alkaloids transdermal patch (CTTP) following Shenque acupoint application in rats. The concentrations of corydaline, tetrahydropalmatine, tetrahydrocolumbamine, protopine, and dehydrocorydaline in rat plasma and various tissues were simultaneously detected by ultra‐performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry after Shenque acupoint administration of CTTP. Plasma, heart, liver, spleen, lung, and kidney tissue samples were collected at specific times and separated by gradient elution on an ACQUITY UPLC HSS T3 column (1.8 μm, 100 mm × 2.1 mm) with a mobile phase of 0.01% formic acid aqueous solution and acetonitrile–0.01% formic acid. The methodological results showed that the selectivity, linear range, accuracy, precision, stability, matrix effect, and extraction recovery of the established method met the requirements of biological sample analysis. The results indicated that CTTP following Shenque acupoint administration rapidly delivered adequate drug into rat blood and maintained an effective plasma level for a significantly longer time than non‐acupoint administration. Furthermore, CTTP effectively reached the liver through Shenque acupoint administration and showed tissue selectivity. The hydrogenation of CO2 by renewable power‐generated hydrogen offers a promising approach to a sustainable carbon cycle. However, the role of water during CO2 hydrogenation is still under debate. Herein, we demonstrated that either too low or too high contents of water hampered the methanol synthesis over Cu/ZnO based catalysts. For Cu single atoms on ZnO supports, the optimal content of water was 0.11 vol. % under 30 bar (CO2 : H2=1 : 3) at 170 °C. Upon the introduction of optimal‐content water, the methanol selectivity immediately became 99.1 %, meanwhile the conversion of CO2 underwent a volcano‐type trend with the maximum of 4.9 %. According to mechanistic studies, water acted as a bridge between H atoms and CO2/intermediates, facilitating the transformation of COOH* and CH2O*. The enhanced activity induced the generation of more water to react with CO via water‐gas shift reaction, resulting in the increase in methanol selectivity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Termites are social cockroaches distributed throughout warm temperate and tropical ecosystems. The ancestor of modern termites roamed the earth during the early Cretaceous, suggesting that both vicariance and overseas dispersal may have shaped the distribution of early diverging termites. We investigate the historical biogeography of three early diverging termite families –Stolotermitidae, Hodotermitidae and Archotermopsidae (clade Teletisoptera) – using the nuclear rRNA genes and mitochondrial genomes of 27 samples. Our analyses confirm the monophyly of Teletisoptera, with Stolotermitidae diverging from Hodotermitidae + Archotermopsidae approximately 100 Ma. Although Hodotermitidae are monophyletic, our results demonstrate the paraphyly of Archotermopsidae. Phylogenetic analyses indicate that the timing of divergence among the main lineages of Hodotermitidae + Archotermopsidae are compatible with vicariance. In the Stolotermitidae, however, the common ancestors of modern Porotermes Hagen and Stolotermes Hagen are roughly as old as 20 and 35 Ma, respectively, indicating that the presence of these genera in South America, Africa and Australia involved over‐water dispersals. Overall, our results suggest that early diverging termite lineages acquired their current distribution through a combination of over‐water dispersals and dispersal via land bridges. We clarify the classification by resolving the paraphyly of Archotermopsidae, restricting the family to Archotermopsis Desneux and Zootermopsis Emerson and elevating Hodotermopsinae (Hodotermopsis Holmgren) as Hodotermopsidae (status novum). Previous pharmacological studies have indicated that diterpenoids are the primary effective chemical cluster in the seeds of Euphorbia lathyris L. The seed products are used in traditional Chinese medicine in the forms of Semen Euphorbiae (SE) and Semen Euphorbiae Pulveratum (SEP). However, the metabolism of the plant's diterpenoids has not been well elucidated, which means that the in vivo metabolite products have not been identified. The current study screened the physiological metabolites of six diterpenes [Euphorbia factor L1 (L1), L2 (L2), L3 (L3), L7a (L7a), L7b (L7b), and L8 (L8)] in feces and urine of rats after oral administration of SE and SEP using UHPLC‐Q‐Exactive MS. A total of 22 metabolites were detected in feces and 8 in urine, indicating that the major elimination route of diterpenoids is via the colon. Hydrolysis, methylation, and glucuronidation served as the primary metabolic pathways of these diterpenoids. In sum, this study contributed to the elucidation of new metabolites and metabolic pathways of SE and SEP, and the new chemical identities can be used to guide further pharmacokinetic studies. Receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa‐B ligand (RANKL) is one of the key factors regulating the maturation of osteoclasts and an important target for osteoporosis treatment. A monoclonal antibody against RANKL showed effective therapeutic activity against osteoporosis by inhibiting bone resorption by osteoclasts. However, being an exogenous protein, its efficacy decreases after long‐term use, and its discontinuation increases the risk of vertebral fractures. Here, we aimed to design an active immunotherapeutic agent to induce a T‐cell dependent primary response. The agent, a mutant RANKL vaccine (mRv), was produced by cross‐linking mutant RANKL, lacking the ability to stimulate osteoclast maturation, with the carrier protein keyhole limpet hemocyanin, a neo‐antigen with a large molecular mass. Subcutaneous injection of mRv stimulated rats with ovariectomy‐induced osteoporosis to produce high titers of anti‐RANKL antibodies. The mutant RANKL vaccine decreased serum CTX‐1 and BALP levels and inhibited the microstructural degeneration of trabecular bone in osteoporotic rats. mRv overcame immune system tolerance, stimulated rats to produce therapeutic antibodies, stabilized bone metabolism, and inhibited trabecular microstructural degeneration. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is characterized by myelin sheath injury. A disintegrin and metalloprotease‐17 (ADAM17), a disintegrin and metalloproteinase, is essential in regulating oligodendrocyte (OL) regeneration and remyelination under demyelinating conditions. iRhom1, a highly conserved inactive protease that belongs to the rhomboid family, is one of key regulators for ADAM17 maturation. However, it is unknown whether iRhom1 also plays a role in central neuron system myelination under demyelinating conditions like MS. Soil‐feeding termites are abundant in tropical regions and play an important role in soil bioturbation and in the organic matter cycle. The Apicotermitinae are arguably the most diverse lineage of soil‐feeding termites, but they are also the most understudied, probably because many species are soldierless, which makes identification difficult. Although the backbone of the termite phylogenetic tree is now well‐resolved, the relationships among representatives of Apicotermitinae are still largely unknown. Here, we present phylogenetic trees inferred from 113 mitochondrial genomes of Apicotermitinae representative of the group diversity. Our analyses confirm the monophyly of the Apicotermitinae and the basal position of soldiered taxa, within which two lineages of soldierless species are nested. We describe two new monotypic genera, whose phylogenetic position appeared of special interest: Koutabatermesgen. n., lies on a long branch among soldiered taxa, and Apolemotermesgen. n., is sister to Adaiphrotermes. We resolved, with high support, the position of Asian genera as sister group of a clade comprising the monophyletic neotropical Anoplotermes‐group and the small African clade including Adaiphrotermes and Apolemotermesgen. n.. Our trees cast light on the intergeneric and interspecific relationships within Apicotermitinae and reveal the polyphyly of several genera, including Ruptitermes, Astalotermes and Anoplotermes. Biogeographic reconstructions revealed two dispersal events out of Africa, one to the Oriental realm and one to the Neotropical realm. Overall, the timing of Apicotermitinae diversification and dispersal, following the Eocene–Oligocene boundary, matches that found for other groups of Neoisoptera. It is of pivotal importance to develop efficient catalysts and investigate the intrinsic mechanism for CO2 methanation. Now, it is reported that PdFe intermetallic nanocrystals afforded high activity and stability for CO2 methanation. The mass activity of fct‐PdFe nanocrystals reached 5.3 mmol g−1 h−1, under 1 bar (CO2:H2=1:4) at 180 °C, being 6.6, 1.6, 3.3, and 5.3 times as high as that of fcc‐PdFe nanocrystals, Ru/C, Ni/C, and Pd/C, respectively. After 20 rounds of successive reaction, 98 % of the original activity was retained for PdFe intermetallic nanocrystals. Further mechanistic studies revealed that PdFe intermetallic nanocrystals enabled the maintenance of metallic Fe species via a reversible oxidation–reduction process in CO2 methanation. The metallic Fe in PdFe intermetallic nanocrystals induced the direct conversion of CO2 into CO* as the intermediate, contributing to the enhanced activity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Choline fenofibrate is the choline salt of fenofibric acid, which releases free fenofibric acid in the gastrointestinal tract. To estimate the absolute oral bioavailability of fenofibric acid and choline fenofibrate, a novel and sensitive UPLC-MS/MS method with liquid-liquid extraction procedure was developed for the determination of fenofibric acid in rat plasma. The separation was achieved on a Phenomenex Kinetex C18 column (50 × 2.1 mm, 2.6 μm) containing 2 m m ammonium acetate-methanol with a gradient elution program. Validations of this method including specificity, sensitivity (limit of quantification, 5 ng/mL), linearity (0.005-10 μg/mL), accuracy (within ±4.3%), precision (intra- and inter-day coefficient of variation <11.3%), recovery (94.9-105.2% for fenofibric acid), matrix effect, stability and dilution, were all within acceptable limits. This method successfully supported the determination of fenofibric acid and choline fenofibrate. The absolute oral bioavailability was 93.4% for choline fenofibrate and 40.0% for fenofibric acid. These results suggested that choline fenofibrate and fenofibric acid had a better in vivo pharmacokinetic behavior than that of fenofibrate. As the electron transfer to CO2 is a critical step in the activation of CO2, it is of significant importance to engineer the electronic properties of CO2 hydrogenation catalysts to enhance their activity. Herein, we prepared Pt3Co nanocrystals with improved catalytic performance towards CO2 hydrogenation to methanol. Pt3Co octapods, Pt3Co nanocubes, Pt octapods, and Pt nanocubes were tested, and the Pt3Co octapods achieved the best catalytic activity. Both the presence of multiple sharp tips and charge transfer between Pt and Co enabled the accumulation of negative charges on the Pt atoms in the vertices of the Pt3Co octapods. Moreover, infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy confirmed that the high negative charge density at the Pt atoms in the vertices of the Pt3Co octapods promotes the activation of CO2 and accordingly enhances the catalytic activity. Single‐atom catalysts provide an ideal platform to bridge the gap between homogenous and heterogeneous catalysts. Here, the recent progress in this field is reported from the perspectives of static regulation and dynamic evolution. The syntheses and characterizations of single‐atom catalysts are briefly discussed as a prerequisite for catalytic investigation. From the perspective of static regulation, the metal–support interaction is illustrated in how the supports alter the electronic properties of single atoms and how the single atoms activate the inert atoms in supports. The synergy between single atoms is highlighted. Besides these static views, the surface reconstruction, such as displacement and aggregation of single atoms in catalytic conditions, is summarized. Finally, the current technical challenges and mechanistic debates in single‐atom heterogeneous catalysts are discussed. Here, the recent progress in single‐atom catalysis is reported from the perspectives of static regulation and dynamic evolution. Various Pt/Co nanoparticles were used as catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation by J. Zeng, Z. Wang, and co‐workers. As they describe in their Communication on page 9548 ff., Pt3Co octapods were the most efficient catalysts for this process owing to the presence of multiple sharp tips (the “sharp‐tip effect”) and charge transfer between Pt and Co, which leads to the accumulation of negative charge in the vertices.
