Self‐powered photodetectors with dual‐polarity response have great advantages in processing complex light information that is proven to be applied in switchable light imaging, optical communication, and spectral band distinction. Here, a novel strategy for designing self‐powered photodetectors by introducing the double symmetric Schottky junctions at the semiconductor‐metal interfaces is proposed, which guarantees the linear response characteristic and dominates the transfer of photogenerated carriers without external bias. Narrow bandgap semiconductor SnTe is employed as the photosensitive material. The bandgap is characterized to be 126 meV, showing great potential for wide spectrum response. As the consequence of selective excitation of unilateral Schottky junction and switching of electric field polarity, the device obtains a dual‐polarity photoresponse, which can be tuned from −14.8 to 13.5 µV. Moreover, an ultra‐broadband photoresponse from near‐infrared 808 nm to far infrared 10.6 µm is achieved with deep exploration of the working mechanism. The synergistic effect of photo thermoelectricity and photoconductivity created a high photoresponsivity of 0.35 mV W−1 excited by 10.6 µm at room temperature. This work provides a novel design strategy for self‐powered photodetectors with a dual‐polarity powered principle, which can take full advantage of the directivity of the photoresponse to identify optical information. In recent years, with the continuous improvement of motor power density, oil cooling technology has been widely used in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) for electric vehicles (EVs) as an efficient cooling method. A PMSM with a rated capacity of 53kW for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) is designed, and the motor is cooled by the oil injection pipe. In order to improve the heat dissipation efficiency of the end winding, the number of injection pipes and the structure of the nozzle are optimised, and a novel nozzle structure is proposed. By using the moving particle solution (MPS) method to simulate the fluid flow, the optimal cooling structure of the motor is determined. In addition, different from the equivalent winding model in the traditional temperature field simulation, a hairpin winding model that can more realistically reflect the geometry of the end winding is established. On this basis, the temperature field of the motor is simulated. It is verified that the cooling structure designed can effectively improve the thermal performance of the end winding. Background: Rhino‐orbito‐cerebral mucormycosis (ROCM) is an opportunistic pathogenic fungal disease caused by the fungus mucor, and it is a life‐threatening fungal infection. The ulceration on the skin of the head and neck, accompanied by rhinitis, headache, orbital inflammation, and eyelid edema, should raise a high suspicion of Mucor infection in diabetic patients with inadequately controlled blood glucose. Case Description: The clinical data of a patient with ROCM were analyzed retrospectively, and the clinical features were analyzed. The patient was admitted to the hospital with "diabetic hyperosmotic coma" after presenting with fatigue, poor appetite, and disturbances in consciousness as initial symptoms. After improving relevant examinations, controlling underlying diseases, and administering antifungal treatment, the final clinical outcome was death. Conclusion: ROCM is more prevalent in patients with uncontrolled diabetes and varied clinical manifestations. The characteristic feature is an eschar‐like necrosis of the local skin or mucosa. The gold criteria for diagnosis are pathology and fungal culture; imaging examination does not reveal any specific manifestations. Early diagnosis and effective treatment are the keys. This article presents a novel method for fastly obtaining orthotropic material parameters in permanent magnet synchronous motor. First, a theoretical model of the equivalent single cylindrical shell is introduced with three orthotropic material parameters by considering the orthotropic characteristics of the motor. Then, the relationship of three orthotropic material parameters and the axial mode order m, the radial mode order n and modal frequency f is established. On this basis, an analytical method with m = 0 is proposed to acquire three values, and its adaptability is pointed out. Meanwhile, based on the above obtained orthotropic material parameters, the calculation method of modal frequencies is presented. Background: Aging‐associated osteoporosis is frequently seen in the elderly in clinic, but efficient managements are limited because of unclear nosogenesis. The current study aims to investigate the role of melatonin on senescent bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) and the underlying regulating mechanism. Methods: Melatonin levels were tested by ELISA. Gene expression profiles were performed by RNA‐sequencing, enrichment of H3K36me2 on gene promoters was analyzed by Chromatin Immunoprecipitation Sequencing (ChIP‐seq), and chromatin accessibility was determined by Assay for Transposase‐Accessible Chromatin with high‐throughput sequencing (ATAC‐seq). Osteogenesis of BMSCs in vitro was measured by Alizarin Red and Alkaline Phosphatase staining, and in vivo effects of melatonin was assessed by histological staining and micro computed tomography (micro‐CT) scan. Correlation of NSD2 expression and severity of senile osteoporosis patients were analyzed by Pearson correlation. Results: Melatonin levels were decreased during aging in human bone marrow, accompanied by downregulation of the histone methyltransferase nuclear receptor binding SET domain protein 2 (NSD2) expression in the senescent BMSCs. Melatonin stimulated the expression of NSD2 through MT1/2‐mediated signaling pathways, resulting in the rebalancing of H3K36me2 and H3K27me3 modifications to increase chromatin accessibility of the osteogenic genes, runt‐related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2) and bone gamma‐carboxyglutamate protein (BGLAP). Melatonin promoted osteogenesis of BMSCs in vitro, and alleviates osteoporosis progression in the aging mice. In clinic, severity of senile osteoporosis (SOP) was negatively correlated with melatonin level in bone marrow, as well as NSD2 expression in BMSCs. Similarly, melatonin remarkably enhanced osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs derived from SOP patients in vitro. Conclusions: Collectively, our study dissects previously unreported mechanistic insights into the epigenetic regulating machinery of melatonin in meliorating osteogenic differentiation of senescent BMSC, and provides evidence for application of melatonin in preventing aging‐associated bone loss. Nitrones are key intermediates in organic synthesis. Herein, we report the first photo‐redox synthesis of methylene nitrone intermediates from nitroarenes and arylamines. The highly reactive methylene nitrones are in situ trapped by alkenes to afford various isoxazolidines. This three‐component reaction features the use of N,N‐dimethylanilines or N‐aryl glycines as C1 building blocks, which allow for the one‐pot formal [1+2+2] cycloaddition from simple starting materials. A wide range of useful isoxazolidines can be obtained under mild conditions with moderate to good yields. The purpose of this study was to examine the genotypic variation in maize doubled haploid (DH) lines response to brassinosteroid and gibberellin inhibitors. Plant responses to hormone inhibitors were determined in growth chamber experiments using germination paper for three different seedling treatments: application of propiconazole (Pcz), uniconazole (Ucz) or water (control). Mesocotyl length (ML) was more sensitive to hormone inhibitors, especially to the Ucz treatment, than other seedling traits. ML was significantly correlated with other traits in the Ucz treatment. All the seedling traits showed moderate‐to‐high broad sense heritability values, ranging from 0.39 to 0.82. The Euclidian genetic distances of inbred line pairs ranged from 1.27 to 19.94, indicating there was a high level of variability across the maize DH lines used in this study. DH lines with extreme MLs were identified, which can provide valuable breeding resources for improving abiotic stress tolerance, and for further genetic studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) horizontal arrays with specific chirality can be enriched using solid carbide catalysts on substrates. However, scale‐up production by continuous loading of the solid catalysts onto the substrates is challenging. Described here is the preparation of a floating carbide solid catalyst (FSC) for the controlled growth of SWNTs. The FSC, titanium carbide (TiC) nanoparticle, was directly obtained in the carrier gas phase by decomposition and carbonization of the titanocene dichloride precursor at high temperature. By using the TiC nanoparticle FSC, both SWNT horizontal arrays and randomly distributed networks can be obtained. The chirality of the as‐grown SWNTs were thermodynamically controlled to have fourfold symmetry. Further optimization of growth condition resulted in an abundance of (16,8) tubes with about a 74 % content. To reveal the intrinsic relationship between the electronic structure and optical properties of YxAl1−xN alloys, a comparative first‐principles study for pure AlN and YxAl1−xN alloys is conducted. In light of the density functional theory, the arrangement of yttrium (Y) atoms in the AlN supercell is first investigated, which demonstrates that the structure of Y atoms distributed locally along the c‐axis tends to be energetically favorable, compared with the structures of Y atoms lying on the same ab plane. The lattice parameters, bandgap, density of states, and optical constants are also calculated with varied Y concentration x. The results indicate that the lattice parameters increase with the ascending x, which demonstrates the distortion of the crystal structure. Moreover, the bandgaps of YxAl1−xN are found to be affected by the arrangement of Y atoms but generally with the same trend to become narrowed by the increase in x, respectively. The optical properties of YxAl1−xN alloy are adjustable by the Y concentration x in the low energy regime and correspond to the variation in the bandgaps. Sine oculis homeobox homologue 1 (SIX1) is a Six class homeobox gene conserved throughout many species. It has been reported to act as an oncogene and is overexpressed in many cancers. However, the function and regulatory mechanism of SIX1 in gastric cancer (GC) remains unclear. In our study, we detected protein levels of SIX1 via immunohistochemistry (IHC) and its proliferation and invasion effects via CCK8 and transwell assays. Additionally, expression of cyclin D1, MMP2, p‐ERK, and EMT‐related proteins was measured by western blotting. We found that SIX1 had significantly higher expression in GC tissues and that it could promote GC cell proliferation and invasion. Also, overexpression of SIX1 increased the expression of cyclin D1, MMP2, p‐ERK, and EMT‐related proteins, which could all be inhibited by knocking down SIX1. In conclusion, SIX1 is upregulated in GC tissues. It can promote GC cell proliferation by targeting cyclin D1, invasion via ERK signalling, and EMT pathways by targeting MMP2 and E‐cadherin. Significance of the study: Our study showed that SIX1 was upregulated in GC tissues, and promoted GC cell proliferation by targeting cyclin D1, invasion via ERK signalling, and EMT pathways by targeting MMP2 and E‐cadherin. Abstract: Photodetection in the optical communication wavelength band (OCWB) is a key technique for data processing communications. Photodetectors with integrability, ease of fabrication, low cost, and excellent detection properties are favorable for practical applications. Metal halide perovskite thin films have exhibited intriguing optoelectronic properties. However, their relatively wide intrinsic band gaps indicate that direct photodetection in the infrared OCWB seems impossible. Here, for the first time, direct infrared photodetection covering the OCWB with a metal halide perovskite is demonstrated. Associated with an Sn‐component dependent band gap, a CH3NH3Pb0.75Sn0.25I3 perovskite thin film is fabricated, whose nonlinear two‐photon absorption can expand the optical response up to 1.8 µm. Two‐photon absorption is studied and a very large absorption coefficient of 1.15 cm kW−1 is measured, a value that is respectively 5 and 106 times larger than that of CH3NH3PbI3 thin films and halide perovskite bulk crystals. Based on this favorable performance, direct photodetection at 1535 nm in the C‐band of the OCWB and at 1064 nm is characterized. The realization of direct infrared photodetection in a metal halide perovskite provides a possible alternative in advanced integrated optoelectronics and electronics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of vestibular incision subperiosteal tunnel technique (VISTA) and tunnel approach combined with connective tissue graft (CTG) for treatment of type 1 (RT1) multiple gingival recession. Materials and Methods: Twenty‐four patients with a total of 59 nonmolar recession teeth were randomly allocated to VISTA + CTG or Tunnel + CTG group. Recession depth and width, probing depth, clinical attachment level, width of keratinized tissue, gingival thickness, flap tension, mean root coverage (MRC), complete root coverage (CRC), patient‐centered, and esthetic outcomes (root coverage esthetic scores, RES) were assessed at baseline and 12 months after surgery. Results: At 12 months, MRC of 91.13 ± 16.96% and 91.40 ± 13.53%, CRC of 70.97% and 67.86% were observed for VISTA + CTG and Tunnel + CTG group respectively, with no significant difference between the two groups (p > 0.05). High RES of 8.52 ± 1.46 and 8.82 ± 1.44 was obtained in VISTA + CTG and Tunnel + CTG group respectively, without showing a significant difference (p = 0.245), while less scar formation was observed in Tunnel + CTG group (p < 0.01). Conclusions: Both procedures were effective for root coverage in RT1 multiple gingival recession at 12 months. Better esthetic result with less scar formation was obtained in tunnel approach combined with CTG without vestibular incision. The GNAS locus is an imprinted site. The α‐subunit of the stimulatory G protein (Gsα) and extralarge variant (XLαs) are the two important products of the GNAS locus. The abnormal expression of Gsα is associated with pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) and related disorders, including Albright hereditary osteodystrophy (AHO), pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism (PPHP), and progressive osseous heteroplasia (POH). XLαs protein can mimic the catalytic intracellular synthesis of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) by Gsα in response to parathyroid hormone (PTH) stimulation, which may be involved in the pathogenesis of PPHP and POH in patients with paternal GNAS defects. A paternally inherited nonsense variant in the first exon of XLαs in an adult patient may be associated with fractures and osteopetrosis. The relationship between the XLαs product of the GNAS locus and bone remodeling may have been overlooked. Here, we summarize the phenotypes of genetic mouse models and clinical cases of XLαs variations and suggest that the abnormal paternal expression of XLαs may be associated with the development of POH and affect osteoblast and osteoclast differentiation. Curcumin is poorly absorbed, which is interest in new preparations. However, little is known about variations in its pharmacokinetics and tissue bioavailability between formulations. In this randomized, crossover study we evaluated the relationship between steady-state plasma and rectal tissue curcuminoid concentrations using standard and phosphatidylcholine curcumin extracts. There was no difference in the geometric mean plasma AUCs when adjusted for the 10-fold difference in curcumin dose between the 2 formulations. Phosphatidylcholine curcumin extract yielded only 20% to 30% plasma demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin conjugates compared to standard extract, yet yielded 20-fold greater hexahydrocurcumin. When adjusting for curcumin dose, tissue curcumin concentrations were 5-fold greater for the phosphatidylcholine extract. Improvements in curcuminoid absorption due to phosphatidylcholine are not uniform across the curcuminoids. Furthermore, curcuminoid exposures in the intestinal mucosa are most likely due to luminal exposure rather than to plasma disposition. Finally, once-daily dosing is sufficient to maintain detectable curcuminoids at steady state in both plasma and rectal tissues. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The concentration effect on a two-dimensional (2D) self-assembly of 4, 4′-dihexadecyloxy-benzophenon (DHB) has been investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy. The self-assembly of DHB at the phenyloctane/graphite interface was concentration dependent. Under low concentration, the DHB molecules were adsorbed intactly on the graphite surface. With the increasing of concentration, one of side chains connecting the conjugated moiety stretched into the liquid phase. The coexistence of two self-assembled structures was observed in a moderate concentration. The result indicated that the van der Waals interactions between the molecules and the graphite lattice were decreasing with the increasing concentration. After the samples were placed in ambient conditions over 24 h, a different self-assembled structure was obtained on the gas/solid interface, in which the DHB molecules were adsorbed on the surface with only one of the side chains. Both the benzophenon core and the other side chain were extended to the gas phase. The results demonstrated that concentration played an important role in forming the 2D molecular self-assembly and provided an efficient approach for the control of the DHB molecular nanostructure. Proanthocyanidin‐rich grape seed extract (GSE) has been shown to have the potential to protect bones, although the underlying mechanism remains unknown. The current study aims to explore GSE's preventive and therapeutic impact on bone loss induced by oestrogen deficiency and the underlying mechanism through the gut microbiota (GM) and metabolomic responses. In oestrogen‐deficient ovariectomized (OVX) mice, GSE ameliorated bone loss by inhibiting the expansion of bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT), restoring BMAT lipolysis and promoting bone formation. GSE regulated OVX‐induced GM dysbiosis by reducing the abundance of opportunistic pathogenic bacteria, such as Alistipes, Turicibacter and Romboutsia, while elevating the abundance of beneficial bacteria, such as Bifidobacterium. The modified GM primarily impacted lipid and amino acid metabolism. Furthermore, the serum metabolites of GSE exhibited a significant enrichment in lipid metabolism. In summary, GSE shows potential as a functional food for preventing oestrogen deficiency‐induced bone loss by modulating GM and metabolite‐mediated lipid metabolism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Defects engineering is significant for photocatalytic environment remediation. To this end, visible‐light‐driven α‐Fe2O3/ZrO2‐x S‐scheme heterojunction photocatalysts with optimal oxygen vacancy (Ov) defects are successfully synthesized via a two‐step method. Compared with pristine UiO‐66‐NH2‐derived ZrO2‐x and α‐Fe2O3, the heterojunction photocatalysts exhibit a wider range of visible light response and higher efficiency in separating photogenerated electron–hole pairs. Among them, the 5% α‐Fe2O3/ZrO2‐x sample shows the best photocatalytic performance to the degradation of tetracycline (TC) (89.3%), in which the pseudo‐first‐order kinetic rate constants are 8.20 and 16.75 times that of pristine ZrO2‐x and α‐Fe2O3, respectively. The outstanding photocatalytic degradation efficiency can be attributed to both the narrow‐bandgap ZrO2‐x with visible light response and the formation of α‐Fe2O3/ZrO2‐x S‐scheme heterojunctions. During the formation of heterojunctions, the concentration of oxygen vacancies (Ov) at the interface of α‐Fe2O3/ZrO2‐xdecreases monotonically with the increasing loading of α‐Fe2O3, thereby altering the electronic structure of the photocatalyst and forming the heterojunction firmly. The synergistic effect between Pt and WC is beneficial for methanol electro-oxidation, and makes Pt-WC catalyst a promising anode candidate for the direct methanol fuel cell. This paper reports on the design and synthesis of small-sized and contacting Pt-WC nanostructures on graphene that bring the synergistic effect into full play. Firstly, DFT calculations show the existence of a strong covalent interaction between WC and graphene, which suggests great potential for anchoring WC on graphene with formation of small-sized, well-dispersed WC particles. The calculations also reveal that, when Pt attaches to the pre-existing WC/graphene hybrid, Pt particles preferentially grow on WC rather than graphene. Our experiments confirmed that highly disperse WC nanoparticles (ca. 5 nm) can indeed be anchored on graphene. Also, Pt particles 2-3 nm in size are well dispersed on WC/graphene hybrid and preferentially grow on WC grains, forming contacting Pt-WC nanostructures. These results are consistent with the theoretical findings. X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy further confirms the intimate contact between Pt and WC, and demonstrates that the presence of WC can facilitate the crystallinity of Pt particles. This new Pt-WC/graphene catalyst exhibits a high catalytic efficiency toward methanol oxidation, with a mass activity 1.98 and 4.52 times those of commercial PtRu/C and Pt/C catalysts, respectively. Nanoformulations with endogenous/exogenous stimulus‐responsive characteristics show great potential in tumor cell elimination with minimal adverse effects and high precision. Herein, an intelligent nanotheranostic platform (denoted as TPZ@Cu‐SnS2‐x/PLL) for tumor microenvironment (TME) and near‐infrared light (NIR) activated tumor‐specific therapy is constructed. Copper (Cu) doping and the resulting sulfur vacancies can not only improve the response range of visible light but also improve the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers and increase the carrier density, resulting in the ideal photothermal and photodynamic performance. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the introduction of Cu and resulting sulfur vacancies can induce electron redistribution, achieving favorable photogenerated electrons. After entering cells through endocytosis, the TPZ@Cu‐SnS2‐x/PLL nanocomposites show the pH responsivity property for the release of the TPZ selectively within the acidic TME, and the released Cu2+ can first interact with local glutathione (GSH) to deplete GSH with the production of Cu+. To improve the multiscale dynamic dispatching and distribution capacity of regional integrated energy, a multiscale dynamic time‐domain dispatching model of regional integrated energy with seasonal load difference is proposed. The master–slave game coordination planning model of regional comprehensive energy multiscale dispatching is constructed, and the difference fusion model of regional comprehensive energy multiscale dynamic dispatching is established by using the active and reactive power coordination control method according to the influence factors of voltage deviation and line overload absorption. Maximize the weight factors of the positive contribution of distributed photovoltaic (PV) power to the active distribution network. On the basis of the quantitative regulation analysis method of demand response power based on the equivalent slope of the load curve, establish an energy absorption capacity analysis model of seasonal load differentiation. On the basis of the dynamic interaction between different systems, a multiscale dynamic time‐domain analysis and dynamic simulation model of regional integrated energy is constructed by using the method of PV absorptive capacity assessment on both sides of demand uncertainty, to achieve multiscale dynamic time‐domain feature extraction of integrated energy and integrated scheduling of seasonal load differences. The simulation results show that the multiscale dynamic time‐domain allocation of regional comprehensive energy using this method improves the energy dispatching and balanced allocation capability, and the time‐domain dynamic allocation capability is good. Considering the terminal load demand and the electricity price demand formulated by the distribution network investment operators, the seasonal load response and comprehensive dispatching capability are improved. Background: Nonobstructive coronary artery disease (NOCAD), characterized by the presence of myocardial ischemic symptoms and signs without obstructive coronaries, is a common clinical condition, but it is less well understood. Few studies have analyzed the gender differences in inducible myocardial ischemia assessed by cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) in NOCAD. Methods: We conducted a study of 289 NOCAD patients (mean age 60, 56% women) with ischemic symptoms and confirmed ⫹50% coronaries stenoses by coronary angiography who underwent symptom‐limited CPET. We assessed ischemic response using predicted % peak VO2, O2 pulse trajectory, and exercise ECG test. Results: Men with NOCAD had significantly lower predicted % peak VO2 (62% vs. 73%), higher proportions of flattening pattern (16% vs. 2%), and downward patterns of O2 pulse trajectory (2% vs. 0%) (p <.0001) compared with women. In contrast, women with NOCAD had a higher prevalence of shallow patterns of O2 pulse trajectory (21% vs. 6%, p <.0001). Men with NOCAD had a higher risk ischemic profile (medium risk: 63% vs. 54%, high risk: 18% vs. 4%, p <.0001). After adjustment, men with NOCAD had significantly lower predicted % peak VO2 (β −27.4, 95% CI −30.74 to −24.07), higher risk for abnormal O2 pulse trajectories (OR 4.21, 95% CI 1.93 to 9.19), and myocardial ischemia risk per CPET parameters (OR 3.14, 95% CI 1.78 to 5.54) (p <.0001). Conclusion: Men with NOCAD had a higher risk profile for ischemic heart disease per CPET. Therefore, they should receive rigorous management and follow‐up to prevent cardiovascular events. This article examines the association between daily levels of ambient air pollution and hospital visits for allergic diseases. Previous studies have typically used population-average exposure data, which may lead to biased effect estimates. In this study, individual exposure data was used to assess the effects of ambient air pollution on outpatient visits for allergic diseases. The results showed that increases in fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and ozone (O3) were associated with an increased risk of allergic diseases. Additionally, population-average exposure to PM2.5, particulate matter (PM10), O3, and sulphur dioxide (SO2) were also associated with an increased risk of allergic diseases. The study highlights the adverse effects of air pollution on allergic diseases and supports efforts to mitigate pollution and protect vulnerable individuals. [Extracted from the article]

In this paper, novel data‐driven fault detection and diagnosis approaches are proposed on the basis of a new locally weighted probabilistic kernel partial least squares (LWPKPLS). (a) LWPKPLS can construct an accurate model for a time‐varying process by updating itself using the newly coming samples, thus LWPKPLS can be used to monitor time‐varying processes. (b) By the integration of local weighted regression and kernel tricks, the LWPKPLS can be applied to construct models for processes with much stronger nonlinear data characteristics. Summary: The comprehensive utilisation of food waste has become a global development demand for enhancing their added value. This study aimed to develop and utilise physiological fruit drop of Citrus aurantium L. var Daidai with rich phenolic acids and flavonoids. Therefore, different concentrations (1%, 3%, 5%, 10% wt, based on pullulan weight) of daidai physiological fruit drop extracts (DE) were incorporated into pullulan/bacterial cellulose (BC) packaging film (PB2‐DE). The effects of different concentrations of DE on composite films were comprehensively evaluated. It was found that the mechanical properties, ultraviolet barrier properties, and antioxidant properties of the films were improved with the addition of DE. Moreover, application tests have verified that films containing DE can effectively maintain the attractive quality of strawberries. Conclusively, the results demonstrated the feasibility of DE incorporation into films to increase the value of the waste and the potential applicability of films containing DE in strawberry preservation. Adiponectin is an antidiabetic endogenous adipokine that plays a protective role against the unfavorable metabolic sequelae of obesity. Recent evidence suggests a sinister link between hypoadiponectinemia and development of insulin resistance/type 2 diabetes (T2D). Adiponectin's insulin‐sensitizing property is mediated through the specific adiponectin receptors R1 and R2, which activate the AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK) and peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor (PPAR) α pathways. AdipoAI is a novel synthetic analogue of endogenous adiponectin with possibly similar pharmacological effects. Thus, there is a need of orally active small molecules that activate Adipoq subunits, and their downstream signaling, which could ameliorate obesity related type 2 diabetes. In the study we aim to investigate the effects of AdipoAI on obesity and T2D. Through in‐vitro and in‐vivo analyses, we investigated the antidiabetic potentials of AdipoAI and compared it with AdipoRON, another orally active adiponectin receptors agonist. Our results showed that in‐vitro treatment of AdipoAI (0–5 µM) increased adiponectin receptor subunits AdipoR1/R2 with increase in AMPK and APPL1 protein expression in C2C12 myotubes. Similarly, in‐vivo, oral administration of AdipoAI (25 mg/kg) observed similar effects as that of AdipoRON (50 mg/kg) with improved control of blood glucose and insulin sensitivity in diet‐induced obesity (DIO) mice models. Further, AdipoAI significantly reduced epididymal fat content with decrease in inflammatory markers and increase in PPAR‐α and AMPK levels and exhibited hepatoprotective effects in liver. Further, AdipoAI and AdipoRON also observed similar results in adipose tissue. Thus, our results suggest that low doses of orally active small molecule agonist of adiponectin AdipoAI can be a promising therapeutic target for obesity and T2D. Significance statement: Obesity is a global health concern, having doubled in more than 70 countries and resulting in an escalation of obesity‐related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes (T2D). To maximize the potential of adiponectin receptors in targeting the fundamental etiopathology of obesity and T2D, we have designed, synthesized, Adiponectin receptor agonist named AdipoAI (standing for anti‐inflammation) which in our preclinical trials on high fat diet (HFD) observed reduced glucose resistance, insulin tolerance, promoted adiponectin signaling in liver and adipose tissues of obese mice, and resulted decrease liver inflammation. Endoscopic ultrasound-guided gallbladder fistulization for cholecystolithotomy after endoscopic transpapillary cannulation of the gallbladder in patients with gallstones and common bile duct stones Cholecystolithiasis is a common and benign gastrointestinal disease which is often accompanied by common bile duct (CBD) stones.1,2 One-stage or two-stage treatment (combining a laparoscopic cholecystectomy with an endoscopic removal) of CBD stones are recommended for gallstones complicated with CBD stones.3 However, the preservation of gallbladder is attracting increasing attention as a result of awareness of the importance of the gallbladder and various complications related to cholecystectomy.4-6 Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided transmural cholecystogastrostomy or cholecystoduodenostomy as a bridge for per-oral cholecystolithotomy using a lumen-apposing metal stent (LAMS) have recently been introduced, and endoscopic sphincterotomy has also been used to treat patients with gallstones accompanied by CBD stones.7 For patients with gallstones and simultaneous CBD stones, endoscopic naso-gallbladder drainage is performed to inject saline into the gallbladder after the removal of CBD stones, making it easier for a single-step puncture with LAMS by an electrocautery tip. We retrospectively reviewed the data of three patients who were treated with EUS-guided cholecystogastrostomy or cholecystoduodenostomy following endoscopic naso-gallbladder drainage at our endoscopy center between August 2018 and December 2018. In conclusion, we reported a new approach of EUS-guided gallbladder fistulization for cholecystolithotomy after endoscopic transpapillary cannulation of the gallbladder in patients with gallstones and CBD stones. The discovery of cysteine‐rich secretory protein 3 (CRISP3) has been made in human neutrophils for the first time. Cloning of the complementary DNA (cDNA) for CRISP3 was performed from a cDNA library of human bone marrow. In patients with mammary carcinoma, we found that lower expression of CRISP3 was connected to a significantly improved DFS (disease‐free survival) and OS (overall survival). Furthermore, the CRISP3 protein level was significantly associated with negative ANXA1 protein level. In addition, the heterogeneous expression of CRISP3 had been exhibited in diverse mammary carcinoma cells. A significant higher mRNA and the protein level of CRISP3 were seen in T‐47D as well as SK‐BR‐3 cells compared with those in other types of mammary carcinoma cells. Knockdown of CRISP3 in T‐47D or SK‐BR‐3 cells resulted in the weakened migration or invasion abilities. Furthermore, CRISP3 knockdown significantly inhibited the ERK1/2 MAPK signaling pathway in T‐47D or SK‐BR‐3 cells. Homo sapiens longevity assurance homolog 2 of yeast LAG1 (LASS2), is a gene isolated from a human liver complementary DNA library. In this study, we found that LASS2 protein level was positively related to International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage and LASS2‐negative tumors showed significant association with longer disease‐free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) in ovarian cancer patients. The heterogeneous expression of LASS2 had been exhibited in diverse ovarian cancer cells. A significantly lower messenger RNA (mRNA) and protein level of LASS2 was seen in 3AO cell compared with those in other types of ovarian cancer cells. Meanwhile, the mRNA and protein levels of LASS2 in ES‐2 and NIH:OVCAR‐3 cells were obviously higher. LASS2 overexpression in 3AO cell could promote migration, invasion, and metastasis abilities in vitro and in vivo, while LASS2 knockdown in ES‐2 and NIH:OVCAR‐3 cells had the opposite effects. The oncogenic capacity of LASS2 in ovarian cancer may be mediated by increased expression of YAP/TAZ. The achievement of bifunctional metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) remains a huge challenge due to their lack of dual active sites. Herein, dual sites in the Co‐catecholate (Co‐CAT) are created through Ru, Ir, or Rh doping for overall water splitting. Among them, RuCo‐CAT exhibits excellent bifunctional activities, outperforming benchmarked Pt/C for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and RuO2 for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The theoretical calculations demonstrate that the doped Ru atoms with optimal absorption energy for the hydrogen intermediate and the Co centers with a reduced energy barrier for the rate‐determining step are the active sites for HER and OER, respectively. Furthermore, the incorporation of Ru atoms can improve the electrical conductivity and capacity of water adsorption of Co‐CAT greatly, synergistically improving the bifunctional activity. Eight new O‐alkyldithiophosphato nickel complexes 1–8 with chelating aminodiphosphine ligands have been successfully synthesized in moderate yields by the treatment of O,O′‐alkydithiophosphoric acid salts (R1O)2P{S}SH·Et2NH (R1 = CH3, CH2CH3) with nickel aminodiphosphine precursors Ni[(Ph2P)2NR2]Cl2 [R2 = (CH2)3OCH3, (CH2)3SCH3, (CH2)2CH(CH3)2, CH(CH3)C6H5] in the presence of Et3N at room temperature. Meanwhile, reactions of Ni(S2P{OR1}2)2 and aminodiphosphine ligands (Ph2P)2NR2 in CHCl3 solvents at room temperature also resulted in the formation of the target complexes 1–8 in satisfactory yields. The two synthetic routes are found to be efficient pathways to prepare O‐alkyldithiophosphato nickel complexes with chelating aminodiphosphine ligands. All the new complexes were fully characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR and NMR (1H, 13C, 31P) spectroscopy, and particularly for three of them by X‐ray crystallography. Abstract: The W18O49 nanowire (NW)‐reduced graphite oxide (W18O49‐rGO) nanocomposite was prepared by a facile solvothermal reaction. The W18O49 NWs were stably dispersed on the surface of rGO, and the content of W18O49 NWs in the composite can be tailored by controlling the mass ratio of reactants (WCl6 and graphite oxide). Employing the W18O49‐rGO nanocomposite with the proper W18O49 NW content of 33% as a counter electrode of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), it gets a photoelectrical conversion efficiency (η) of 7.23%, which is close to that of Pt‐based DSSC (7.39%). The high efficiency of DSSCs based on W18O49‐rGO counter electrode is contributed to the intrinsic electrocatalytic activity of W18O49 NWs and excellent electron‐transfer characteristics of rGO. The first‐principles calculations have been first employed to investigate the adsorption energy between I3− molecule and W18O49 NW to explain its good catalytic activity. The cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS), and Tafel polarization tests can further identify that the W18O49‐rGO counter electrode has high electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of I3− and low interface charge transfer impedance. Solid‐state lithium‐oxygen batteries (SSLOBs) offer high energy density with enhanced safety. However, the challenge of energy loss induced by the high polarization of the solid‐state air electrode has become a major bottleneck for its further development. Here, a homonuclear Fe‐Fe catalyst (Fe2‐N‐C) matched to reactants (Li2‐xO2, 0 ≤ x ≤ 2) size to alleviate the redox polarization in solid‐state electrodes is designed. Atomically resolved transmission electron microscopy reveals that the spatial size of Fe‐Fe clusters (1.5–2 Å) is commensurate with Li2‐xO2 (1.2–2.2 Å), which can overcome the challenges associated with catalyst/reactant size mismatch. In‐depth theoretical analyses show that orbital coupling and spin state jumping between Fe‐Fe sites allows the Fe centers to exhibit d‐orbital delocalization and high electronic spin states. These features enhance the activation of paramagnetic oxygen species, optimize the binding strength to LiO2 and reduce the charge/discharge voltage gap. Meanwhile, the size‐matching effect induces the ductile growth of the discharge product into a highly reversible film‐like morphology. The Fe2‐N‐C cathode with low overpotential exhibits significantly improved round‐trip efficiency (84.9%). The concept of this work opens up new opportunities for designing high‐performance SSLOBs. Aim: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of DBPR108 (prusogliptin), a novel dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 (DPP‐4) inhibitor, as an add‐on therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) that is inadequately controlled with metformin. Materials and Methods: In this 24‐week, multi‐centre, randomized, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled, superiority, phase III study, adult T2D patients with HbA1c levels ranging from 7.0% to 9.5% on stable metformin were enrolled and randomized (2:1) into the DBPR108 + metformin and placebo + metformin groups. The primary endpoint was the change from baseline in HbA1c at week 24 of DBPR108 versus placebo as an add‐on therapy to metformin. Results: At week 24, the least‐square mean (standard error) change from baseline in HbA1c was significantly greater in the DBPR108 group (−0.70% [0.09%]) than in the placebo group (−0.07% [0.11%]) (P <.001), with a treatment difference of −0.63% (95% confidence interval: −0.87%, −0.39%) on the full analysis set. A higher proportion of patients achieved an HbA1c of 6.5% or less (19.7% vs. 8.5%) and an HbA1c of 7.0% or less (50.0% vs. 21.1%) at week 24 in the DBPR108 + metformin group. Furthermore, add‐on DBPR108 produced greater reductions from baseline in fasting plasma glucose and 2‐hour postprandial plasma glucose without causing weight gain. The overall frequency of adverse events was similar between the two groups. Conclusions: DBPR108 as add‐on therapy to metformin offered a significant improvement in glycaemic control, was superior to metformin monotherapy (placebo) and was safe and well‐tolerated in patients with T2D that is inadequately controlled with metformin.
