Problem: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common mucosal fungal infection, and Candida albicans is the main causative agent. The NLRP3 inflammasome plays an important role in VVC, but the underlying mechanism is unknown. Method of Study: Vaginal epithelial cells were divided into three groups: control, C. albicans strain SC5314 (wild‐type, WT), and WT+ Matt Cooper Compound 950 (MCC950, a specific NLRP3 inhibitor). After human vaginal epithelial cells were pretreated with 1 µmol/L MCC950 for 2 h, C. albicans (MOI = 1) was cocultured with the human vaginal epithelial cells for 12 h. The cell supernatants were collected, LDH was detected, and the IL‐1β and IL‐18 levels were determined by ELISA. The expression of the pyroptosis‐related proteins NLRP3, Caspase‐1 p20 and GSDMD was measured by Western blotting analysis. The protein expression of the pyroptosis‐related N‐terminus of GSDMD (GSDMD‐N) was detected by immunofluorescence. Results: In this study, we showed that the WT C. albicans strain induced pyroptosis in vaginal epithelial cells, as indicated by the LDH and proinflammatory cytokine levels and the upregulated levels of the pyroptosis‐related proteins NLRP3, Caspase‐1 p20, and GSDMD‐N. MCC950 reversed the changes in the expression of these proteins and proinflammatory cytokines in vaginal epithelial cells. Conclusion: C. albicans activated the NLRP3 inflammasome to induce vaginal epithelial cell pyroptosis. Phosphides with high theoretical capacity are considered ideal anode materials for lithium‐ion capacitors (LICs), but poor electronic conductivity as well as unsatisfied cyclic stability limits the performance of the phosphides. Here a covalently bonded CoP@C heterostructure is reported, which consists of 5 nm CoP quantum dots (QDs) like pomegranate seeds pinned in carbon polyhedron through interfacial Co─P─C bonding. The ultrafine size of CoP QDs provides more reactive sites and a shorten electrons/ions diffusion path, boosting the specific capacity. The Co─P─C bond induces the energy band variation of CoP and increases the interfacial charge density, bringing about fast kinetics. Besides, the Co─P─C bond introduces a robust pining effect among CoP QDs and carbon polyhedra, greatly improving the structure stability of 5 nm CoP QDs. The CoP@C heterostructure electrode exhibits high capacity (nearly 1000 mAh g−1) and superior cycling stability. It is worth noting that a prototyped LIC full‐cell of YP80//CoP@C presents an impressive high energy density of 172 Wh kg−1 and a power density of 10.8 kW kg−1. Moreover, the LIC possesses an ultra‐long life, retaining 80% after 20,000 cycles. Black phosphorus (BP) has been recognized as an alluring fast‐charging anode for batteries/supercapacitors due to its substantial theoretical capacity, propitious lithiation potential, and large interlayer spacing. Nonetheless, it is encumbered by challenges of low electronic conductivity, momentous volume expansion (≈300%), and pernicious shuttle effect induced by soluble polyphosphides. Here a BP heterostructure covalent bonded by metallic antimony (Sb) is showed, which can promote the reaction dynamics of BP and greatly ameliorate the cycling performance. Robust P─Sb covalent bonds are methodically engineered to regulate the Femi level, endowing enhanced electronic conductivity. The in situ generated Li7SbO6 ionic conductor in the P/Sb interface during the lithiation process ensures the fast Li+ transport. Furthermore, Sb offers strong anchoring and chemical adsorption capability on soluble lithium polyphosphides, preventing the shuttle issue. As a result, a lithium‐ion capacitor (LIC) full‐cell based on Sb@BP/C anode demonstrates a superior energy density of 174.3 W h kg−1 and a power density of 23.7 kW kg−1, as well as exceptional reversible capacity retention. This work provides insights into the regulation of reaction kinetics and chemical adsorption capability of BP, offering guidance for designing high‐capacity and stable BP‐based anodes. Graphene/metal oxide (rGO/MOx) heterostructures hold great promise for energy storage, yet a full understanding of their synthesis remains elusive. Herein, a general, efficient, and scalable synthesis strategy is designed for the preparation of various rGO/MOx heterostructure materials featuring robust interfacial interactions. The heterogeneous nucleation growth mechanism of metal oxides on graphene is elucidated through ex situ characterization and theoretical simulation. The surface of graphene oxide (GO) is enriched with reactive oxygen‐containing functional groups, serving as potent nucleation sites that facilitate the rapid and heterogeneous nucleation of MOx grains. Simultaneously, a stable interface (C−O−M bond) is in situ formed between graphene and adsorbed metal ions during heat treatment, producing rGO/MOx heterostructure materials. Notably, the resultant rGO/CoO heterostructure material is employed as an anode and LiCoO2 as a cathode to assemble a soft packaging quasi‐solid‐state battery, which has demonstrated an impressive energy density of 341.4 Wh kg−1 and maintains outstanding capacity retention at 93.4% after 300 cycles at a 1C current. Purpose: To present a case series of Cushing's syndrome (CS) during pregnancy caused by adrenocortical adenomas, highlighting clinical features, hormonal assessments and outcomes. Methods: We describe five pregnant women with CS, detailing clinical presentations and laboratory findings. Results: Common clinical features included a full moon face, buffalo back and severe hypertension. Elevated blood cortisol levels with circadian rhythm disruption and suppressed adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) levels were observed. Imaging revealed unilateral adrenal tumours. Two cases underwent laparoscopic adrenalectomies during the second trimester, while three had postpartum surgery. All required hormone replacement therapy, with postoperative pathological confirmation of adrenocortical adenomas. Conclusion: Diagnosis of CS during pregnancy is challenging due to overlapping features with normal pregnancy: elevated blood cortisol levels and abnormal diurnal rhythm of blood cortisol, suppressed aid diagnosis. Treatment should be individualised due to a lack of explicit optimum therapeutic approaches. Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a highly malignant and aggressive cancer whose incidence and mortality continue to increase, whereas its prognosis remains dismal. Tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) promote malignant progression and immune microenvironment remodeling through direct contact and secreted mediators. Targeting TAMs has emerged as a promising strategy for ICC treatment. Here, we revealed the potential regulatory function of immune responsive gene 1 (IRG1) in macrophage polarization. We found that IRG1 expression remained at a low level in M2 macrophages. IRG1 overexpression can restrain macrophages from polarizing to the M2 type, which results in inhibition of the proliferation, invasion, and migration of ICC, whereas IRG1 knockdown exerts the opposite effects. Mechanistically, IRG1 inhibited the tumor‐promoting chemokine CCL18 and thus suppressed ICC progression by regulating STAT3 phosphorylation. T lymphocytes are pivotal in adaptive immunity. The role of the trafficking protein particle complex (TRAPPC) in regulating T‐cell development and homeostasis is unknown. Using CD4cre‐Trappc1flox/flox (Trappc1 cKO) mice, we found that Trappc1 deficiency in T cells significantly decreased cell number of naive T cells in the periphery, whereas thymic T‐cell development in Trappc1 cKO mice was identical as WT mice. In the culture assays and mouse models with adoptive transfer of the sorted WT (CD45.1+CD45.2+) and Trappc1 cKO naive T cells (CD45.2+) to CD45.1+ syngeneic mice, Trappc1‐deficient naive T cells showed significantly reduced survival ability compared with WT cells. RNA‐seq and molecular studies showed that Trappc1 deficiency in naive T cells reduced protein transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus, enhanced unfolded protein responses, increased P53 transcription, intracellular Ca2+, Atf4‐CHOP, oxidative phosphorylation, and lipid peroxide accumulation, and subsequently led to ferroptosis. Trappc1 deficiency in naive T cells increased ferroptosis‐related damage‐associated molecular pattern molecules like high mobility group box 1 or lipid oxidation products like prostaglandin E2, leukotriene B4, leukotriene C4, and leukotriene D4. Functionally, the culture supernatant of Trappc1 cKO naive T cells significantly promoted neutrophils to express inflammatory cytokines like TNFα and IL‐6, which was rescued by lipid peroxidation inhibitor Acetylcysteine. Importantly, Trappc1 cKO mice spontaneously developed severe autoinflammatory disease 4 weeks after birth. Thus, intrinsic expression of Trappc1 in naive T cells plays an integral role in maintaining T‐cell homeostasis to avoid proinflammatory naive T‐cell death‐caused autoinflammatory syndrome in mice. BACKGROUND: Porcupine quills, a by‐product of porcupine pork, are rich in keratin, which is an excellent source of bioactive peptides. The objective of this study was to investigate the underlying mechanism of anti‐proliferation effect of porcupine quills keratin peptides (PQKPs) on MCF‐7 cells. RESULTS: Results showed that PQKPs induced MCF‐7 cells apoptosis by significantly decreasing the secretion level of anti‐apoptosis protein Bcl‐2 and increasing the secretion levels of pro‐apoptosis proteins Bax, cytochrome c, caspase 9, caspase 3 and PARP. PQKPs also arrested the cell cycle at G0/G1 phase via remarkably reducing the protein levels of CDK4 and enhancing the protein levels of p53 and p21. High‐performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC–MS/MS) analysis identified nine peptides with molecular weights less than 1000 Da in PQKPs. Molecular docking results showed that TPGPPT and KGPAC identified from PQKPs could bind with p53 mutant and Bcl‐2 protein by conventional hydrogen bonds, carbon hydrogen bonds and van der Waals force. Furthermore, the anti‐proliferation impact of synthesized peptides (TPGPPT and KGPAC) was shown in MCF‐7 cells. CONCLUSION: These findings indicated that PQKPs suppressed the proliferation of MCF‐7 breast cancer cells by triggering apoptosis and G0/G1 cell cycle arrest. Lignin‐derived porous carbon (LPC) shows great potential as electrode material for supercapacitors. However, precise control over the pore structure during the conventional carbonization–activation process remains challenging. Here, a molecular‐level strategy to tailor the pore structure through tuning inter‐/intra‐molecular bonding of lignin in a pre‐carbonization process is shown. Based on operando pyrolysis analysis, a molecular evolution model is proposed to elucidate the relationship between pre‐carbonization and the resulting porosity of LPC. Lignin undergoes a condensation process with an increase of sp2‐hybridized carbon bonding during pre‐carbonization, causing the extension of polycyclic aromatic structure and leading to an increased mesopore volume in the final porous carbon. The variation in the content ratio of sp2‐ and sp3‐hybridized carbon bonding provides insights into the spatial structure evolution of pre‐carbonized lignin, which correlates well with changes in the porous structure of LPC. The LPCs show ultrahigh specific surface area up to 3219 m2 g−1 and tailored meso‐/micropore distribution. The lithium‐ion capacitor full‐cell tests demonstrate the great potential of LPCs in energy storage applications with superior energy density and power density. Hierarchical zeolites are highly‐desired catalysts in the petrochemical industry due to their shorter diffusion length, faster diffusion rate, and better accessibility to active acid sites compared with conventional zeolites. Herein, we report a simple amino‐acid‐assisted method to synthesize urchin‐like hollow hierarchical FER zeolites with abundant mesopores and macroporous inner cavities. An amino acid (i. e. L‐lysine) is used to facilitate the agglomeration of primary gel nanoparticles. The preferential nucleation and crystal growth at the external surfaces together with the lagged crystallization of the inner core of the agglomerates results in the formation of hollow inner cavities after the exhaustion of interior materials. Thanks to the unique hierarchical structure and more accessible acid sites, the hollow hierarchical FER zeolite exhibits improved catalytic performance over the conventional one in the skeletal isomerization of 1‐butene to isobutene. Zeolites with uniform micropores are important shape‐selective catalysts. However, the external acid sites of zeolites have a negative impact on shape‐selective catalysis, and the microporosity may lead to serious diffusion limitation. Herein, we report on the direct synthesis of hierarchical hollow STW‐type zeolite single crystals with a siliceous exterior. In an alkalinous fluoride medium, the nucleation of highly siliceous STW zeolites takes place first, and the nanocrystals are preferentially aligned on the outer surface of the gel agglomerates to grow into single crystalline shells upon crystallization. The lagged crystallization of the internal Al‐rich amorphous gels onto the inner surface of nanocrystalline zeolite shells leads to the formation of hollow cavities in the core of the zeolite crystals. The hollow zeolite single crystals possess a low‐to‐high aluminum gradient from the surface to the core, resulting in an intrinsic inert external surface, and exhibit superior catalytic performance in toluene methylation reactions. Aims: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease with challenging early diagnosis and effective treatments due to its complex pathogenesis. AD patients are often diagnosed after the appearance of the typical symptoms, thereby delaying the best opportunity for effective measures. Biomarkers could be the key to resolving the challenge. This review aims to provide an overview of application and potential value of AD biomarkers in fluids, including cerebrospinal fluid, blood, and saliva, in diagnosis and treatment. Methods: A comprehensive search of the relevant literature was conducted to summarize potential biomarkers for AD in fluids. The paper further explored the biomarkers' utility in disease diagnosis and drug target development. Results: Research on biomarkers mainly focused on amyloid‐β (Aβ) plaques, Tau protein abnormal phosphorylation, axon damage, synaptic dysfunction, inflammation, and related hypotheses associated with AD mechanisms. Aβ42, total Tau (t‐Tau), and phosphorylated Tau (p‐Tau), have been endorsed for their diagnostic and predictive capability. However, other biomarkers remain controversial. Drugs targeting Aβ have shown some efficacy and those that target BACE1 and Tau are still undergoing development. Conclusion: Fluid biomarkers hold considerable potential in the diagnosis and drug development of AD. However, improvements in sensitivity and specificity, and approaches for managing sample impurities, need to be addressed for better diagnosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lithium metal is a promising candidate for the promotion of the next generation high energy density batteries. The employment of ultrathin Li metal anode with controllable thickness could enable a higher efficiency of Li utilization. Herein, a simple method to fabricate free‐standing 10 μm ultrathin Li metal anode is developed in this work. A three‐dimensional MnOx‐coated CNT framework is constructed through a facile hydrothermal process, utilizing as a host for molten Li infusion, which could not only put forward a simple strategy to modulate the thickness of Li metal film but also restricts the volume expansion. The abundant MnOx nanoparticles acting as lithiophilic sites reduce the Li nucleation barrier and optimize the electrochemical kinetics at the anode/electrolyte interface. As a result, the ultrathin Li composite anode exhibits a superior lifespan expanded to 2000 cycles in a symmetric cell, as well as a better capacity and rate capability than that of bare Li anode in full cell, fulfilling the requirements of high energy density and stable cycling life. Furthermore, a wave‐shaped Li metal pouch cell based on the ultrathin Li composite anode is assembled that exhibits remarkable mechanical bending toleration and cyclic stability, demonstrating large potential application in the field of flexible wearable devices. Ralstonia solanacearum, the causal agent of the devastating bacterial wilt disease, is of particular interest to the scientific community. The repertoire of type III effectors plays an important role in the evasion of plant immunity, but tolerance to plant immunity is also crucial for the survival and virulence of R. solanacearum. Nevertheless, a systematic study of R. solanacearum tolerance to plant immunity is lacking. In this study, we used exogenous salicylic acid (SA) to improve the immunity of tomato plants, followed by transposon insertion sequencing (Tn‐seq) analysis and the identification of R. solanacearum genes associated with tolerance to plant immunity. Target gene deletion revealed that the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) production genes RS_RS02830, RS_RS03460, and RS_RS03465 are essential for R. solanacearum tolerance to plant immunity, and their expression is induced by plant immunity, thereby expanding our knowledge of the pathogenic function of R. solanacearum LPS. SA treatment increased the relative abundance of transposon insertion mutants of four genes, including two genes with unknown function, RS_RS11975 and RS_RS07760. Further verification revealed that deletion of RS_RS11975 or RS_RS07760 resulted in reduced in vivo competitive indexes but increased tolerance to plant immunity induced by SA treatment, suggesting that these two genes contribute to the trade‐off between tolerance to plant immunity and fitness cost. In conclusion, this work identified and validated R. solanacearum genes required for tolerance to plant immunity and provided essential information for a more complete view of the interaction between R. solanacearum and the host plant. Organic‐inorganic composite solid electrolytes consisting of garnet fillers dispersed in polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) frameworks have shown promise to enable high‐energy solid‐state Li‐metal batteries. However, the air‐sensitive garnets easily form poorly‐conductive residues, which hinders fast Li‐ion exchange at the garnet‐polymer interface and results in low ionic conductivity. The highly alkaline residues trigger instant dehydrofluorination of PVDF to form unsaturated CC bonds, which are unstable against high‐voltage cathode materials. Here it is shown that, by applying a 10‐nm polydopamine coating on the residue‐removed garnet surface, the modified garnet filler becomes air‐stable and does not generate alkaline residues, so PVDF remains an intact structure. Surface characterizations reveal substantial metal‐nitrogen bonding between the La atoms of garnet and the amino groups of polydopamine, which can invite stronger adsorption of Li ions at the heterointerface. A new interparticle Li‐ion conduction mechanism is disclosed for the composite electrolyte, in which Li ions preferably migrate through the garnet‐polydopamine interface, forming an efficient ion‐percolation network. As a result, the composite electrolyte demonstrates an effective room‐temperature Li+ conductivity of 1.52 × 10–4 S cm–1 and a high cutoff voltage of up to 4.7 V versus Li+/Li to support stable operation of all‐solid‐state Li‐LiCoO2 batteries. The coassembly of primary particles into heterostructures represents a significant strategy for advanced fabrication of multi‐functional materials or devices, and templated assembly has shown remarkable advantage for deterministic placement of particles and the efficient integration with substrates. However, template induced particles coassembly, which is significant for integrating multicomponents at desired positions, is still challenging. Herein, a facile strategy of embossed templateinduced particles coassembly for diverse superstructures and precise patterns is reported. Tunable region selective assembly of particles is demonstrated by controlling the resistance force via designing the embossed edge and surface roughness of the template. Through regulating the template morphologies and particles composition, well‐controlled coassembly of "flower" shaped heterostructure and chiral superstructure arrays are realized. Furthermore, the printable nanomaterials self‐assembly template is employed to achieve totally bottom‐up fabrication of excitation responsive heterostructure arrays, in which the multi‐photons process based energy transfer is studied to show the application in high‐secure encryption. With the advantage of accurate position and compatible to different materials, this strategy is expected to provide a promising platform for fabricating micro/nanoscale advanced devices. Myeloid cell development in bone marrow is essential for the maintenance of peripheral immune homeostasis. However, the role of intracellular protein trafficking pathways during myeloid cell differentiation is currently unknown. By mining bioinformatics data, we identify trafficking protein particle complex subunit 1 (TRAPPC1) as continuously upregulated during myeloid cell development. Using inducible ER‐TRAPPC1 knockout mice and bone marrow chimeric mouse models, we demonstrate that TRAPPC1 deficiency causes severe monocyte and neutrophil defects, accompanied by a selective decrease in common myeloid progenitors (CMPs) and subsequent cell subsets in bone marrow. TRAPPC1‐deleted CMPs differentiate poorly into monocytes and neutrophils in vivo and in vitro, in addition to exhibiting enhanced endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis via a Ca2+‐mitochondria‐dependent pathway. Cell cycle arrest and senescence of TRAPPC1‐deleted CMPs are mediated by the activation of pancreatic endoplasmic reticulum kinase and the upregulation of cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor p21. This study reveals the essential role of TRAPPC1 in the maintenance and differentiation of CMPs and highlights the significance of protein processing and trafficking processes in myeloid cell development. Thymic epithelial cells (TECs) are important for T cell development and immune tolerance establishment. Although comprehensive molecular regulation of TEC development has been studied, the role of transport protein particle complexes (Trappcs) in TECs is not clear. Using TEC‐specific homozygous or heterozygous Trappc1 deleted mice model, we find that Trappc1 deficiency cause severe thymus atrophy with decreased cell number and blocked maturation of TECs. Mice with a TEC‐specific Trappc1 deletion show poor thymic T cell output and have a greater percentage of activated/memory T cells, suffered from spontaneous autoimmune disorders. Our RNA‐seq and molecular studies indicated that the decreased endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and Golgi apparatus, enhanced unfolded protein response (UPR) and subsequent Atf4‐CHOP‐mediated apoptosis, and reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐mediated ferroptosis coordinately contributed to the reduction of Trappc1‐deleted TECs. Additionally, reduced Aire+ mTECs accompanied by the decreased expression of Irf4, Irf8, and Tbx21 in Trappc1 deficiency mTECs, may further coordinately block the tissue‐restricted antigen expression. In this study, we reveal that Trappc1 plays an indispensable role in TEC development and maturation and provide evidence for the importance of inter‐organelle traffic and ER homeostasis in TEC development. In this work, carbon dots (CDs) was easily synthesized from aspartic acid through a pyrolysis method. Based on their favourable fluorescence properties, CDs were utilized to design a metal ion‐mediated fluorescent probe for N‐acetyl‐l‐cysteine (NAC) detection. The fluorescence intensity of CDs was firstly quenched by manganese ions (Mn2+) through static quenching effect and subsequently restored by NAC via the combination with Mn2+ due to the coordination effect. Therefore, the fluorescent turn‐on sensing of NAC was actuated based on the fluorescence quenching stimulated by Mn2+ and recovery induced by coordination. The fluorescence recovery efficiencies showed a proportional range to the concentration of NAC in the range 0.04–5 mmol L−1 and the detection limit was 0.03 mmol L−1. Furthermore, this metal ion‐mediated fluorescent nanoprobe was applied to human urine sample detection and the standard recovery rates were located in the range 97.62–102.34%. This was the first time that Mn2+ was used to construct a fluorescent nanoprobe for NAC. Compared with other heavy metal ions, Mn2+ with good biosecurity prevented the risk of application, which made the nanoprobe green and biopractical. The delicate structural engineering is widely acknowledged as a powerful tool for boosting the electrochemical performance of conversion‐type anode materials for lithium storage. Here, a general electrostatic self‐assembly strategy is proposed for the in situ synthesis of MnO nano‐cabbages on negatively charged reduced graphene oxide (rGO/MnO). The strong interfacial heterostructure and robust lithium storage mechanism related to fast Li+ diffusion kinetics and high Li‐adsorption ability of rGO/MnO heterostructure are confirmed through operando experimental characterizations and theoretical calculation. Owing to the rapid charge transfer, enriched reaction sites, and stable heterostructure, the as‐synthesized rGO/MnO anode delivers a high capacity (860 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1), superior rate capability (211 mAh g−1 at 10 A g−1), and cycle stability. Notably, the as‐assembled flexible pouch cell of activated carbon//rGO/MnO solid‐state lithium‐ion capacitors (LICs) possesses an exceptional energy density of 194 Wh kg−1 and power density of 40.7 kW kg−1, both of which are among the highest flexible solid‐state LICs reported so far. Further, the LICs possess an ultralong life span with ≈77.8% retention after 10 000 cycles and extraordinary safety, demonstrative of great potential for practical applications. The shortage of allogeneic donor organs leaves its supply far short of clinical need. There are great expectations on xenotransplantation, especially with pigs' organs. With the genetic modification of donor pigs, the rejection and cross‐species transmission issues have now been widely addressed. However, research on the compatibility of genes between humans and pigs was limited. We performed a systematic screening analysis of predicted incompatible genes between humans and pigs, judged by low protein sequence similarities or different predicted protein domain compositions. By combining with gene set enrichment analysis, we screened out several key genes of hematopoiesis and the immune system with possible incompatibilities, which might be important for establishing chimera and xenotransplantation between humans and pigs. There were seven chemokine genes, including CCL1, CCL5, CCL24, CCL25, CCL28, CXCL12, and CXCL16, that exhibited limited similarity between humans and pigs (similarity < 0.8). Among hematopoiesis process‐related genes, 15 genes of adhesion molecules, Notch ligands, and cytokine receptors exhibited differences between humans and pigs. In complement and coagulation cascades, 19 genes showed low similarity and 77 genes had different domain compositions between humans and pigs. With the enormous development of the electric vehicle market, fast charging battery technology is highly required. However, the slow kinetics and lithium plating under fast charging condition of traditional graphite anode hinder the fast charging capability of lithium‐ion batteries. To develop anode materials with rapid Li‐ions diffusion capability and fast reaction kinetics has received widely attentions. This review summarizes the current status in the exploration of fast charging anode materials, mainly including the critical challenge of achieving fast charging capability, the inherent structures and lithium storage mechanisms of various anode materials, as well as the recent progress to improve the rate performance involving morphology regulation, structure design, surface/interface modification, as well as forming multiphase systems. Shear flow and/or densification have been long considered as the main mechanisms accounting for inelastic deformation during indentation of silicate glasses. However, the role of inelastic deformation during indentation of silicate glass is still debated. In this work, the cube‐corner indenter was chosen to perform the nano‐indentation tests on four different types of silicate glasses with a penetration depth of up to 0.5 μm. A 3D surface analysis method is developed to quantify the amplitude of the impression field. Based on this newly developed analysis approach, we have found that the shear flow and densification induced inelastic deformation of silicate glasses are visible as indentation, as pile‐up close to the indent, and as lift‐up far away from the indent. The lift‐up mechanism is revealed for the first time, which complements the previous well‐accepted pile‐up description. The lift‐up region is due to the increasing width of the indenter as it is pushed into the glass, which corresponds to the amount of glass volume pushed away laterally (lateral‐pushing) and can contribute up to ∼25% of the total volume above the original surface in soda‐lime silicate glass. As anode materials for high‐performance sodium‐ion batteries and potassium‐ion batteries, bimetallic selenides have attracted great concern due to their relatively high electrical conductivity and electrochemical activity. However, the formidable challenge in the reaction process is the large volume change, leading to the structural collapse of material, and eventually the decline in electrochemical performance. Herein, a composite of hierarchical CoSe2–MoSe2 tubes anchored on reduced graphene oxide nanosheets (CoSe2–MoSe2/rGO) is designed by an in situ hydrothermal selenization treatment. Benefiting from the synergistic effects between CoSe2 and MoSe2, unique hierarchical structure, and effective reduced graphene oxide coating, the CoSe2–MoSe2/rGO exhibited improved reaction kinetics and structural stability, and thus good electrochemical properties. A combination mechanism of intercalation and conversion of CoSe2–MoSe2/rGO by forming NaxCoSe2 and Mo15Se19 as intermediate states is put forward on the basis of in situ and ex situ XRD analyses. This study proposes a machine learning (ML) based approach for optimizing fiber orientations of variable stiffness carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) structures, where neural networks are developed to estimate the objective function and analytical sensitivities with respect to design variables as a substitute for finite element analysis (FEA). To reduce the number of training samples and improve the regression accuracy, an active learning strategy is implemented by successively supplying effective samples along with the suboptimal process. After proper training of neural networks, a quasi‐global search strategy can be applied by implementing a large number of initial designs as starting points in the optimization. In this article, a mathematical example is first presented to show the superiority of the active learning strategy. Then a benchmark design example of a CFRP plate is scrutinized to compare the proposed ML‐based with the conventional FEA‐based discrete material optimization (DMO) method. Finally, topology optimization of fiber orientations is performed for design of a CFRP engine hood, in which the structural performance generated from the proposed ML‐based approach achieves 12.62% improvement compared with that obtained from the conventional single‐initial design method. 2D 1T phase MoS2 (1T‐MoS2) nanosheet with metallic conductivity and expanded interlayer spacing is considered as a highly potential lithium storage electrode material but remains thermodynamic instability in aqueous media, seriously hindering the electrochemical performance. Herein, a versatile strategy is proposed for the preparation of thermodynamically stable 1T‐MoS2/MXene heterostructures with the aid of delaminated Ti3C2Tx MXene (d‐Ti3C2Tx) dispersion containing tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. The 2D d‐Ti3C2Tx provides more uniform nucleation sites for MoS2, and the TBA+ ions can intercalate into MoS2 to induce the phase conversion from semiconducting 2H to 1T. Moreover, the electrochemical advantages of 1T‐MoS2 and d‐Ti3C2Tx can be united by the construction of a well‐organized heterostructure. Outstanding rate performance is realized because of extra‐large interlayer space of 1T MoS2 with TBA+ intercalation and decreased energy barrier for fast Li+ diffusion. Subsequently, a lithium‐ion capacitor (LIC) is assembled based on 1T‐MoS2/d‐Ti3C2Tx as anode and hierarchically porous graphene nanocomposite with micro/mesoporous structure as a cathode. The LIC exhibits a large energy density up to 188 Wh kg−1, an ultra‐high power density of 13 kW kg−1, together with remarkable capacity retention of 83% after 5000 cycles. BRAFV600E mutation is highly prevalent in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), and TERT promoter (TERTp) mutation is strongly associated with cancer‐related mortality. However, predictive power of the two mutations remains inconclusive. We aimed to verify the prognostic effects of both mutations to assess the value of mutation detection for risk stratification in terms of PTC prognosis and tumour invasion, to guide PTC diagnosis and treatment. We conducted a literature search in the MEDLINE (PubMed), EMBASE, Web of Science and CENTRAL (Cochrane library) databases, from inception to February 2020. Basic characteristics, prognoses and clinicopathological features were collected from the included studies for further analysis. Twelve studies involving 4184 PTC patients were enrolled in our analysis. In total, 2412 (57.6%) of the patients carried either BRAFV600E or TERTp mutation, and 290 (6.9%) patients had both mutations. TERTp mutation was more common in patients with BRAFV600E mutation (RR = 1.75 [95% CI 1.44‐2.13]). Patients with both mutations had a worse prognosis compared with those with a single mutation (vs BRAFV600E only: RR = 5.34 [4.20‐6.78] vs TERTp only: RR = 2.12 [1.41‐3.19]). TERTp mutation alone independently increased the risk of a poor prognosis (RR = 2.90 [1.93‐4.35]) in terms of mortality (RR = 15.09 [7.75‐29.37]), disease persistence (RR = 4.00 [2.03‐7.90]), recurrence (RR = 4.34 [4.20‐6.78]), lymph node metastasis (RR = 1.57 [1.24‐1.99]) and distant metastasis (RR = 2.94 [1.13‐7.65]). We found that PTC patients with BRAFV600E mutation were more likely to have TERTp mutation. TERTp mutation was an independent predictive factor for poor prognosis of PTC patients, but the predictive value of BRAFV600E mutation remains inconclusive. Patients with both mutations have remarkably higher risks of adverse outcomes compared with those with a single mutation. Lithium‐ion capacitors (LICs) combining of lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) and supercapacitors (SCs) with improved performance bridge the gap between these two devices, and have attracted huge attention in the field of high‐efficiency electrochemical energy storage. The behavior of electrode materials is essential for the realization of high energy and high output LICs devices. As the most widely utilized electrodes, carbon materials demonstrated their ability in LICs with fast charge storage and long life‐span. Here, an overview of carbon materials for advanced LICs applications is given. The advantages and shortcomings of carbon materials as electrodes are systematically analyzed with the purpose of disclosing their influence on LICs devices. As an energy‐storage system, rechargeable potassium‐ion batteries (PIBs) have aroused widespread attention in recent years due to their earth abundance, low standard redox potential, and high ionic conductivity. Abstract: Previous studies have shown that the activation of angiotensin II receptor type I (AT1) is attributed to cardiac remodeling stimulated by increased heart load, and that it is followed by the activation of the calcineurin‐nuclear factor of activated T‐cells (NFAT) signaling pathway. Additionally, AT1 has been found to be a regulator of cardiocyte ionic channel remodeling, and calcineurin‐NFAT signals participate in the regulation of cardiocyte ionic channel expression. A hypothesis therefore follows that stretch stimulation may regulate cardiocyte ionic channel remodeling by activating the AT1‐calcineurin‐NFAT pathway. Here, we investigated the role of the AT1‐calcineurin‐NFAT pathway in the remodeling of inward rectifier potassium (Ik1) channel, in addition to its role in changing action potential, in stretch‐induced hypertrophic atrial myocytes of neonatal rats. Our results showed that increased stretch significantly led to atrial myocytes hypertrophy; it also increased the activity of calcineurin enzymatic activity, which was subsequently attenuated by telmisartan or cyclosporine‐A. The level of NFAT3 protein in nuclear extracts, the mRNA and protein expression of Kir2.1 in whole cell extracts, and the density of Ik1 were noticeably increased in stretched samples. Stretch stimulation significantly shortened the action potential duration (APD) of repolarization at the 50% and 90% level. Telmisartan, cyclosporine‐A, and 11R‐VIVIT attenuated stretch‐induced alterations in the levels of NFAT3, mRNA and protein expression of Kir2.1, the density of Ik1, and the APD. Our findings suggest that the AT1‐calcineurin‐NFAT signaling pathway played an important role in regulating Ik1 channel remodeling and APD change in stretch‐induced hypertrophic atrial myocytes of neonatal rats. Objective We aim to explore the correlation between serum and tissue 2-methoxyestradiol (2-ME-2) levels and recurrence of juvenile-onset respiratory papillomatosis (JORRP). Study Design Retrospective cohort studies. Settings Laboratory of Otolaryngology, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Renji Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiaotong University. Subjects and Methods Sixty-four patients diagnosed with JORRP in our department from January 2007 to December 2012 were enrolled. Patients were divided into recurrence and nonrecurrence groups, with 32 patients in each group. ELISA detected the concentration of 2-ME-2 in serum and tissue samples collected during the first surgical procedure. Mann-Whitney analysis, receiver operating characteristic curves, logistic regression model, and Kaplan-Meier method were used for data processing. Results There was no difference in the serum 2-ME-2 concentration between the groups ( P = .237), while the tissue 2-ME-2 concentration of the recurrent group was significantly lower than that of the nonrecurrence group ( P = .0001). When the area under the curve was 0.752, the cutoff value of tissue 2-ME-2 at 670.02 pg/mL yielded the highest predictive sensitivity (71.9%) and specificity (71.9%). Regrouped by this cutoff point, patients with a lower tissue 2-ME-2 level (n = 26) had shorter disease-free survival and a higher recurrence odds ratio than patients with a higher tissue 2-ME-2 level (n = 38; P = .0408, odds ratio = 7.667). Conclusion A low tissue 2-ME-2 level is associated with a higher recurrence rate of JORRP. Although face-centered cubic (fcc), body-centered cubic (bcc), hexagonal close-packed (hcp), and other structured gold nanoclusters have been reported, it was unclear whether gold nanoclusters with mix-packed (fcc and non-fcc) kernels exist, and the correlation between kernel packing and the properties of gold nanoclusters is unknown. A Au49(2,4-DMBT)27 nanocluster with a shell electron count of 22 has now been been synthesized and structurally resolved by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, which revealed that Au49(2,4-DMBT)27 contains a unique Au34 kernel consisting of one quasi-fcc-structured Au21 and one non-fcc-structured Au13 unit (where 2,4-DMBTH=2,4-dimethylbenzenethiol). Further experiments revealed that the kernel packing greatly influences the electrochemical gap (EG) and the fcc structure has a larger EG than the investigated non-fcc structure. To accommodate the decreasing lithium resource and ensure continuous development of energy storage industry, sodium-based batteries are widely studied to inherit the next generation of energy storage devices. In this work, a novel Na super ionic conductor type KTi2(PO4)3/carbon nanocomposite is designed and fabricated as sodium storage electrode materials, which exhibits considerable reversible capacity (104 mAh g−1 under the rate of 1 C with flat voltage plateaus at ≈2.1 V), high-rate cycling stability (74.2% capacity retention after 5000 cycles at 20 C), and ultrahigh rate capability (76 mAh g−1 at 100 C) in sodium ion batteries. Besides, the maximum ability for sodium storage is deeply excavated by further investigations about different voltage windows in half and full sodium ion cells. Meanwhile, as cathode material in sodium-magnesium hybrid batteries, the KTi2(PO4)3/carbon nanocomposite also displays good electrochemical performances (63 mAh g−1 at the 230th cycle under the voltage window of 1.0-1.9 V). The results demonstrate that the KTi2(PO4)3/carbon nanocomposite is a promising electrode material for sodium ion storage, and lay theoretical foundations for the development of new type of batteries. Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP) is regarded as a promising cathode for advanced sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) due to its high theoretical capacity and stable sodium (Na) super ion conductor (NASICON) structure. However, strongly impeded by its low electronic conductivity, the general NVP delivers undesirable rate capacity and fails to meet the demands for quick charge. Herein, a novel and facile synthesis of layer-by-layer NVP@reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanocomposite is presented through modifying the surface charge of NVP gel precursor. The well-designed layered NVP@rGO with confined NVP nanocrystal in between rGO layers offers high electronic and ionic conductivity as well as stable structure. The NVP@rGO nanocomposite with merely ≈3.0 wt% rGO and 0.5 wt% amorphous carbon, yet exhibits extraordinary electrochemical performance: a high capacity (118 mA h g−1 at 0.5 C attaining the theoretical value), a superior rate capability (73 mA h g−1 at 100 C and even up to 41 mA h g−1 at 200 C), ultralong cyclability (70.0% capacity retention after 15 000 cycles at 50 C), and stable cycling performance and excellent rate capability at both low and high operating temperatures. Topics covered include how keratoacanthoma (KA) is a fairly common, self-healing neoplasm that features rapid, progressive growth with no identified etiology and how the giant lesion causes massive destruction of normal tissue during its rapid growth phase.

The aim of this study was to ascertain the prevalence and prognostic value of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection status in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Immunohistochemistry and GenoArray HPV genotyping assays were used to evaluate the HPV infection status of 256 Chinese patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Long-term survival rates were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Immunostaining for p16 was prevalent in 6.6% (17/256) of patients, whereas HPV infection was detected in 9 of 256 (3.5%) patients using the HPV genotyping test. None of the p16-negative subjects were found to have HPV infection according to the HPV genotyping test. P16 positivity was more common among nonsmokers than smokers (16.3% vs. 4.7%, respectively; P = 0.02). Among nine HPV-positive cases, seven were infected with HPV-16, one with HPV-33, and one with both HPV-16 and HPV-11. The 3-year overall survival rate was 87.5% for p16-positive/HPV-positive patients, 75.0% for p16-positive/HPV-negative patients, and 76.9% for p16-negative/HPV-negative patients ( P = 0.30). A very low rate of HPV infection was found among the study patients. HPV infection status may not be a useful prognostic marker for head and neck cancer patients. J. Med. Size-controlled Ag0.04@Co0.48@Ni0.48 core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by employing graphene (rGO) with different reduction degrees as supports. The number of CO and CO functional groups on the surface of rGO might play a major role in controlling the particle size. The strong steric-hindrance effect of CO resulted in the growth of large particles, whereas CO contributed to the formation of small particles. The particle size of Ag0.04@Co0.48@Ni0.48 NPs supported on rGO with different reduction degrees decreased as the number of CO functional groups decreased. The decrease in the particle size probably led to the increase in the catalytic activity towards the hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB). The enhanced catalytic activity largely stemmed from the increasing active sites on the surface of catalysts owing to the decreasing particle size. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Triple-layered Ag@Co@Ni core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) containing a silver core, a cobalt inner shell, and a nickel outer shell were formed by an in situ chemical reduction method. The thickness of the double shells varied with different cobalt and nickel contents. Ag0.04@Co0.48@Ni0.48 showed the most distinct core-shell structure. Compared with its bimetallic core-shell counterparts, this catalyst showed higher catalytic activity for the hydrolysis of NH3BH3 (AB). The synergetic interaction between Co and Ni in Ag0.04@Co0.48@Ni0.48 NPs may play a critical role in the enhanced catalytic activity. Furthermore, cobalt-nickel double shells surrounding the silver core in the special triple-layered core-shell structure provided increasing amounts of active sites on the surface to facilitate the catalytic reaction. Objective: Study the clinical relevance of micrometastases in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Methods: We reviewed the outcome of 31 patients who underwent neck dissection for HNSCC with lymph node analysis by cytokeratin 19 real-time Taqman polymerase chain reaction (CK19RT-PCR) for detection of micrometastasis. Fifteen patients were N+ on histopathology (group 1) and 16 were N–; nine of these 16 patients were CK19RT-PCR positive (group 2), whereas seven were negative (group 3). Local and neck recurrences, metastases, and other tumour sites were recorded during follow-up. Results: Five patients in group 1, eight patients in group 2, and one patient in group 3 experienced a tumor-related event. N– patients in groups 2 and 3 had a different outcome (P < 0.01). Conclusion: It is suggested that CK19RTPCR detection of micrometastasis in lymph nodes could be of significant prognostic value in HNSCC, because more aggressive treatment could be indicated in these patients. Cyclic AMP response element-binding protein (CREB) plays important roles in neuronal plasticity and amyloid β-peptide (Aβ)-induced cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Here we demonstrated that Ginkgo biloba extract, EGb 761, displayed the neuron protective effect by activating the CREB signaling pathway. Wild-type neuroblastoma cells cultured in a conditioned medium containing cell-secreted Αβ exhibited reduced levels of phosphorylated CREB (pCREB). Addition of EGb 761 (100 µg/mL) or an anti-oligomer-specific antibody (A-11) to the conditioned medium could restore pCREB level. In a neuroblastoma cell line expressing Αβ, treatment with EGb 761 increased levels of pCREB and brain-derived neurotrophic factor. Furthermore, CREB phosphorylation induced by EGb 761 was blocked by inhibitors of several upstream signaling pathways of CREB, including protein kinase C, ERK, ribosomal S6 kinase(RSK)90 and nitric oxide pathway. Moreover, these inhibitors differentially blocked the effects of individual components of EGb 761, ginkgolide C, quercetin and bilobalide, which suggest diverse effects of the EGb 761 individual components. Actions of individual EGb 761 components provide further insights into direct mechanisms underlying the effect of EGb 761 on enhancing the cognitive performance of patients with AD. Herein, a low‐temperature sublimation‐based vapor deposition (SVD) method is developed to synthesize hexagonal crystal plates of cyanuric acid‐melamine (CAM) with outstanding crystallinity. Through meticulous design of the reaction apparatus and careful selection of source materials, substrate‐confined SVD in a tube furnace is explored to grow single crystals of CAM in hexagonal shapes. Additionally, the orientation preference of the (202) facet is revealed, corresponding to the 2D arrangement of the H‐bonded network, of single‐crystalline plates on surfaces using selected area electron diffraction and X‐ray diffraction techniques. By employing atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy for topography characterization, a mechanism of three‐stage step‐growth crystallization is proposed, including nucleation, in‐plane expansion, and out‐of‐plane growth. Furthermore, it is found that the interactions among melamine molecules in CAM synthesized via SVD are more intense compared to those in CAM synthesized via water‐based methods, as evidenced by infrared and photoluminescent spectra studies. Subsequent nanoindentation tests on the (202) facet of CAM single‐crystalline plates reveals a reduced modulus and hardness of 12.8 and 0.82 GPa, respectively. This methodology addresses the longstanding challenge of synthesizing hexagonal CAM single crystals and provides valuable insights for the fabrication of functional organic crystalline materials. Bone plates have been applied to fix fractures for over a hundred years. Metal plates are the gold standard. However, an increasing number of clinical practices and animal experiments have shown that metal plates have had incidents of failure due to their rigid fixation and long‐term complications. Degradable composites present the advantages of a lower elastic modulus and absorbable properties but are unsuitable for load‐bearing applications. Nondegradable bone plates composed of a nanohydroxyapatite/polyamide 66/glass fiber (n‐HA/PA66/GF) composite are prepared, which have enough strength and a low elastic modulus for an internal fixation device. To better assess its function as a bone plate, animal experiments are conducted using a canine load‐bearing femur fracture model. The results show that the n‐HA/PA66/GF plate can fix fractures effectively. Gross observation, radiographic films, and histological analysis all show that the n‐HA/PA66/GF plate leads to a secondary (indirect) union with obvious callus formation, whereas the titanium plate leads to primary (direct) union due to rigid fixation. Furthermore, the histological results reveal that new bone grows at the interface and that the n‐HA/PA66/GF plate can integrate with native bone tissue. Consequently, the n‐HA/PA66/GF composite shows good potential as a bone plate to fix loading‐bearing bone fractures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
