Cancer is a serious health problem to be solved. With the development of biomaterials, enhanced diagnostic and controllable therapeutic strategies for cancer have emerged, revealing encouraging results with a promising future. Due to its outstanding tissue penetration and controllability, along with a series of bioeffects on tissues, ultrasound (US), as a common medical technology, has been regarded as an effective tool against cancer, and its use has promoted the exploration of US‐sensitive biomaterials. In this review, the bioeffects of US are first introduced and then the main US‐sensitive biomaterials (containing cavitation nuclei, sonosensitizers, and US‐responsive macromolecular systems) used to treat cancer, followed by a summary of several applications based on US‐sensitive biomaterials, from diagnosis to therapy. Finally, the emerging challenges in this field that need to be overcome are highlighted. Almost all cancer treatments are significantly limited by the strong tumor microenvironment (TME) fortress formed by abnormal vasculature, dense extracellular matrix (ECM), multidrug resistance (MDR) system, and immune "cold" environment. In the huge efforts of dismantling the TME fortress, nitric oxide (NO)‐based nanomedicines are increasingly occupying a central position and have already been identified as super "strong polygonal warriors" to dismantle TME fortress for efficient cancer treatment, benefiting from NO's unique physicochemical properties and extremely fascinating biological effects. However, there is a paucity of systematic review to elaborate on the progress and fundamental mechanism of NO‐based nanomedicines in oncology from this aspect. Herein, the key characteristics of TME fortress and the potential of NO in reprogramming TME are delineated and highlighted. The evolution of NO donors and the advantages of NO‐based nanomedicines are discussed subsequently. Moreover, the latest progress of NO‐based nanomedicines for solid tumors is comprehensively reviewed, including normalizing tumor vasculature, overcoming ECM barrier, reversing MDR, and reactivating the immunosuppression TME. Lastly, the prospects, limitations, and future directions on NO‐based nanomedicines for TME manipulation are discussed to provide new insights into the construction of more applicable anticancer nanomedicines. The stimulus‐responsive room temperature phosphorescent (RTP) materials have endowed wide potential applications. In this work, by introducing naphthalene and spiropyran (SP) into polyacrylamide as the energy donor and acceptor respectively, a new kind of brilliant dynamic color‐tunable amorphous copolymers were prepared with good stability and processibility, and afterglow emissions from green to orange in response to the stimulus of photo or acid, thanks to multi‐responsibility of SP and the energy transfer between naphthalene and SP. In addition to the deeply exploring of the inherent mechanism, these copolymers have been successfully applied in dynamically controllable applications in information protection and delivery. The dysregulation of branched‐chain amino acid (BCAA) metabolism and related enzymes has been greatly implicated in the progression of multiple types of cancer, whereas remains far from understood in melanoma. Here, we explored the role of the BCAA metabolism enzyme BCKDHA in melanoma pathogenesis and elucidated the underlying mechanisms. In vitro cell biology experiments and in vivo pre‐clinical mice model experiments were performed to investigate the role of BCKDHA in melanoma progression. RNA sequencing, immunohistochemical/immunofluorescence staining and bioinformatics analysis were used to examine the underlying mechanism. BCKDHA expression was prominently increased in both melanoma tissues and cell lines. The up‐regulation of BCKDHA promoted long‐term tumour cell proliferation, invasion and migration in vitro and tumour growth in vivo. Through RNA‐sequencing technology, it was found that BCKDHA regulated the expressions of lipogenic fatty acid synthase (FASN) and ATP‐citrate lyase (ACLY), which was thereafter proved to mediate the oncogenic role of BCKDHA in melanoma. Our results demonstrate that BCKDHA promotes melanoma progression by regulating FASN and ACLY expressions. CO impurity‐induced catalyst deactivation has long been one of the biggest challenges in proton‐exchange membrane fuel cells, with the poisoning phenomenon mainly attributed to the overly strong adsorption on the catalytic site. Here, we present a mechanistic study that overturns this understanding by using Rh‐based single‐atom catalysis centers as model catalysts. We precisely modulated the chelation structure of the Rh catalyst by coordinating Rh with C or N atoms, and probed the reaction mechanism by surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Direct spectroscopic evidence for intermediates indicates that the reactivity of adsorbed OH*, rather than the adsorption strength of CO*, dictates the CO electrocatalytic oxidation behavior. The RhN4 sites, which adsorb the OH* intermediate more weakly than RhC4 sites, showed prominent CO oxidation activity that not only far exceeded the traditional Pt/C but also the RhC4 sites with similar CO adsorption strength. From this study, it is clear that a paradigm shift in future research should be considered to rationally design high‐performance CO electro‐oxidation reaction catalysts by sufficiently considering the water‐related reaction intermediate during catalysis. The widespread application of electrochemical energy conversion devices, such as proton exchange membrane fuel cells, is hindered by the kinetically sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) at the cathode. Transition‐metal and nitrogen codoped carbon materials (TM−N−C) are among the most promising catalysts to solve this problem. Particularly, dual‐metal TM−N−C have already displayed excellent performance. However, further knowledge on the reaction mechanism and the structure−activity relationship is still required. In this study, we established three dual‐metal TM−N−C models (FeMn−N−C, FeCo−N−C, and FeNi−N−C) to investigate the electronic interaction between the metallic sites and their corresponding adsorption strength for oxygenated intermediates in ORR electrocatalysis. Then, using density functional theory calculations, we determined that the ORR activity of the dual‐metal TM−N−C models followed the order of FeCo−N−C > FeNi−N−C > FeMn−N−C. We confirmed the theoretically predicted activity by synthesizing atomically dispersed FeMn−N−C, FeCo−N−C, and FeNi−N−C catalysts using metal‐organic framework precursors, among which FeCo−N−C showed the best results in terms of ORR onset potential and half‐wave potential (0.92 and 0.81 V vs. the reference hydrogen electrode in 0.1 M HClO4, respectively.). The fast conversion of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into reactive oxygen species (ROS) at tumor sites is a promising anticancer strategy by manipulating nanomedicines with near‐infrared light in the second region (NIR‐II). However, this strategy is greatly compromised by the powerful antioxidant capacity of tumors and the limited ROS generation rate of nanomedicines. This dilemma mainly stems from the lack of an effective synthesis method to support high‐density copper‐based nanocatalysts on the surface of photothermal nanomaterials. Herein, a multifunctional nanoplatform (MCPQZ) with high–density cuprous (Cu2O) supported molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanoflowers (MC NFs) is developed for the efficient killing of tumors via a potent ROS storm by an innovative method. Under NIR‐II light irradiation, the ROS intensity and maximum reaction velocity (Vmax) produced by MC NFs are 21.6 and 33.8 times that of the non–irradiation group in vitro, which is much higher than most current nanomedicines. Moreover, the strong ROS storm in cancer cells is efficiently formed by MCPQZ (increased by 27.8 times compared to the control), thanks to the fact that MCPQZ effectively pre–weakens the multiple antioxidant systems of cancer cells. Preventing islet β‐cells death is crucial for treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Currently, clinical drugs are being developed to improve the quality of T2DM care and self‐care, but drugs focused on reducing islets β‐cell death are lacking. Given that β‐cell death in T2DM is dominated ultimately by excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), eliminating excessive ROS in β‐cells is a highly promising therapeutic strategy. Nevertheless, no antioxidants have been approved for T2DM therapy because most of them cannot meet the long‐term and stable elimination of ROS in β‐cells without eliciting toxic side‐effects. Here, it is proposed to restore the endogenous antioxidant capacity of β‐cells to efficiently prevent β‐cell death using selenium nanodots (SENDs), a prodrug of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase 1 (GPX1). SENDs not only scavenge ROS effectively, but also "send" selenium precisely to β‐cells with ROS response to greatly enhance the antioxidant capacity of β‐cells by increasing GPX1 expression. Therefore, SENDs greatly rescue β‐cells by restoring mitophagy and alleviating endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), and demonstrate much stronger efficacy than the first‐line drug metformin for T2DM treatment. No matter photoinduced organic radicals have been reported frequently, they are usually non‐luminescent at ambient conditions. The internal mechanism on stability and electronic transitions of photoinduced radicals, is thus crucial for the development of relevant materials. Herein, a series of photoinduced radical emission systems were developed conveniently through doping benzoic acids into the hydrogen donor polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix. Visual photoinduced radical emission and photochromism could be observed on Ph‐3COOH@PVA film with the formation of cyclohexadienyl‐type structure. For the first time, radical afterglow appeared with energy transfer from triplet state. The appropriate introduction of carboxylic groups to three nonadjacent carbon atoms on the benzene ring was the best for decreasing spin population and promoting electronic transitions of the radical. In vitiligo, autoreactive CD8+ T cells have been established as the main culprit considering its pathogenic role in mediating epidermal melanocyte‐specific destruction. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a pleiotropic molecule that plays a central role in various immune processes including the activation and proliferation of T cells; but whether MIF is intertwined in vitiligo development and progression and its involvement in aberrantly activated CD8+ T cells remains ill‐defined. In this study, we found that MIF was overabundant in vitiligo patients and a mouse model for human vitiligo. Additionally, inhibiting MIF ameliorated the disease progression in vitiligo mice, which manifested as less infiltration of CD8+ T cells and more retention of epidermal melanocytes in the tail skin. More importantly, in vitro experiments indicated that MIF‐inhibition suppressed the activation and proliferation of CD8+ T cells from the lymph nodes of vitiligo mice, and the effect extended to CD8+ T cells in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of vitiligo patients. Finally, CD8+ T cells derived from MIF‐inhibited vitiligo mice also exhibited an impaired capacity for activation and proliferation. Taken together, our results show that MIF might be clinically targetable in vitiligo treatment, and its inhibition might ameliorate vitiligo progression by suppressing autoreactive CD8+ T cell activation and proliferation. © 2023 The Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland. The objective of this study was to develop a simple, rapid, and efficient pretreatment method using a supramolecular solvent as the extractant combined with high‐performance liquid chromatography‐ultraviolet to detect benzimidazole residues in environmental soil. The supramolecular solvent was composed of long‐chain alcohols, tetrahydrofuran, and water in proportion, showing excellent solubility and polarity range, so a supramolecular solvent microextraction method was established. The optimum method was identified by optimizing the types of long‐chain alcohols, the alcohol/tetrahydrofuran ratio, the pH, the amount of extractant, and the extraction time. The detection limits were 12.1–39.9 μg/kg with a relative standard deviation between 1.2% and 3.2% (n = 6). The recoveries ranged between 56.6% and 86.1%, and the linear relationship was good. The correlation coefficient (r2) was 0.9843 ‐ 0.9998. This method was then used to measure five benzimidazoles (thiabendazole, albendazole sulfone, ophendazole, albendazole, and fendazole) in soil samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cancer immunotherapy effect can be greatly enhanced by other methods to induce immunogenic cell death (ICD), which has profoundly affected immunotherapy as a highly efficient paradigm. However, these treatments have significant limitations, either by causing damage of the immune system or limited to superficial tumors. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) can induce ICD to promote immunotherapy without affecting the immune system because of its excellent spatiotemporal selectivity and low side effects. Nevertheless, SDT is still limited by low reactive oxygen species yield and the complex tumor microenvironment. Recently, some emerging SDT‐based nanomedicines have made numerous attractive and encouraging achievements in the field of cancer immunotherapy due to high immunotherapeutic efficiency. However, this cross‐cutting field of research is still far from being widely explored due to huge professional barriers. Herein, the characteristics of the tumor immune microenvironment and the mechanisms of ICD are firstly systematically summarized. Subsequently, the therapeutic mechanism of SDT is fully summarized, and the advantages and limitations of SDT are discussed. The representative advances of SDT‐based nanomedicines for cancer immunotherapy are further highlighted. Gas‐mediated sonodynamic therapy (SDT) has the potential to become an effective strategy to improve the therapeutic outcome and survival rate of cancer patients. Herein, titanium sulfide nanosheets (TiSX NSs) are prepared as cascade bioreactors for sequential gas–sonodynamic cancer therapy. TiSX NSs themselves as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) donors can burst release H2S gas. Following H2S generation, TiSX NSs are gradually degraded to become S‐defective and partly oxidized into TiOX on their surface, which endows TiSX NSs with high sonodynamic properties under ultrasound (US) irradiation. In vitro and in vivo experiments show the excellent therapeutic effects of TiSX NSs. In detail, large amounts of H2S gas and reactive oxygen species (ROS) can simultaneously inhibit mitochondrial respiration and ATP synthesis, leading to cancer cell apoptosis. Of note, H2S gas also plays important roles in modulating and activating the immune system to effectively inhibit pulmonary metastasis. Finally, the metabolizable TiSX NSs are excreted out of the body without inducing any significant long‐term toxicity. Collectively, this work establishes a cascade bioreactor of TiSX NSs with satisfactory H2S release ability and excellent ROS generation properties under US irradiation for programmed gas–sonodynamic cancer therapy. Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, dramatically improving survival rates of melanoma and lung cancer patients. Nevertheless, immunotherapy is almost ineffective against ovarian cancer (OC) due to its cold tumor immune microenvironment (TIM). Many traditional medications aimed at remodeling TIM are often associated with severe systemic toxicity, require frequent dosing, and show only modest clinical efficacy. In recent years, emerging nanomedicines have demonstrated extraordinary immunotherapeutic effects for OC by reversing the TIM because the physical and biochemical features of nanomedicines can all be harnessed to obtain optimal and expected tissue distribution and cellular uptake. However, nanomedicines are far from being widely explored in the field of OC immunotherapy due to the lack of appreciation for the professional barriers of nanomedicine and pathology, limiting the horizons of biomedical researchers and materials scientists. Herein, a typical cold tumor‐OC is adopted as a paradigm to introduce the classification of TIM, the TIM characteristics of OC, and the advantages of nanomedicines for immunotherapy. Subsequently, current nanomedicines are comprehensively summarized through five general strategies to substantially enhance the efficacy of immunotherapy by heating the cold OC. Multiple amplification of tumor oxidative stress has been demonstrated as efficient strategy to enhance the reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐mediated cancer therapy. Herein, vanadium‐based nanocatalysts, hydrogen vanadium bronzes (HXV2O5, for short HVO), were constructed and employed as novel biocatalysts for amplifying tumor oxidative stress and enhancing cancer catalytic therapy. Such HVO nanocatalysts harboring multivalent V element possessed multi‐functional catalytic activity in decomposing H2O2 into ⋅OH and depleting endogenous glutathione (GSH) to dually amplify tumor oxidative stress. Meanwhile, HVO nanocatalysts could also be activated by ultrasound to further triply amplify oxidative stress. The massive intracellular ROS caused mitochondrial dysfunction, DNA damage, cell cycle arrest, and cell proliferation inhibition, further realizing cancer cell death and tumor growth inhibition. Trans‐ferulic acid‐4‐β‐glucoside (FAG) is a monomer extracted from Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, which is a potential candidate for the prevention and treatment of cold injury. To determine the concentration of FAG in rats, it is essential to develop an ultra‐performance liquid chromatography coupled with MS/MS method. Chromatographic separation was achieved by an Acquity UPLC BEH C18 column (2.1 × 50 mm, 1.7 μm). A Xevo triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometer was used to quantitatively determine FAG in the negative‐ion mode. The standard calibration curve was linear over the concentration range of 0.1–100 μg/mL and 0.0626–31.28 μg/g for rat plasma and liver tissue homogenate samples, respectively. The inter‐ and intra‐batch precision (% relative standard deviation) of the assay was ≤8.29%, and accuracy (% relative error) ranged from −7.41 to 10.99%. The matrix effect was between 92.99 and 102.39%. The oral absolute bioavailability of FAG was obtained as 1.80%. The results of tissue distribution suggested that FAG spread rarely in the liver and brown adipose, which was not propitious to exert its ability to treat cold injury. Efficient solar‐to‐hydrogen (STH) conversion through water splitting relies on the development of low‐cost photocatalysts with high photoactivity and stability. ZnxCd1−xS, an emerging metal sulfide (MS) solid solution for STH, possesses several unique advantages, such as a tunable bandgap, abundant elemental constituents, and high stability. Although ZnxCd1−xS‐based photocatalysts are investigated for hydrogen evolution, their photoactivity still has to be enhanced for commercial applications. Herein, the design concept, crystal and band structure properties, and original photoactivity of ZnxCd1−xS are briefly introduced, and ZnxCd1−xS solutions with different morphologies and structures, modifications, synthesis methods, and vacancy engineering are then discussed. Subsequently, the combination of ZnxCd1−xS and cocatalysts and several representative ZnxCd1−xS‐based heterojunction photocatalysts for hydrogen evolution are reviewed and discussed in detail. Finally, the unsolved issues in the application of ZnxCd1−xS photocatalysts and their potential solutions for developing advanced ZnxCd1−xS‐based photocatalysts are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For the activity of a nano‐catalyst, a general and quantitative solution to building direct structure–reactivity relationship has not yet been established. On top of the first‐principle‐based kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) simulations, we developed a model to build the adsorption site dependence of the activity. We applied this model to study the nano effects of Cu catalysts in the water‐gas shift reaction. By accumulating the activities of different adsorption sites, our model satisfactorily reproduced the experimental apparent activation energies for catalysts with sizes over hundreds of nanometers, which were out of reach for conventional KMC simulations. Our results disclose that, even for a cubic catalyst with size of 877 nm, its activity can still be closely related to the activity of edge sites, instead of only the exposed Cu(100) facets as might be expected. NiFe‐layered double hydroxides (NiFe‐LDH) are among the most active catalysts developed to date for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline media, though their long‐term OER stability remains unsatisfactory. Herein, we reveal that the stability degradation of NiFe‐LDH catalysts during alkaline OER results from a decreased number of active sites and undesirable phase segregation to form NiOOH and FeOOH, with metal dissolution underpinning both of these deactivation mechanisms. Further, we demonstrate that the introduction of cation‐vacancies in the basal plane of NiFe LDH is an effective approach for achieving both high catalyst activity and stability during OER. The strengthened binding energy between the metals and oxygen in the LDH sheets, together with reduced lattice distortions, both realized by the rational introduction of cation vacancies, drastically mitigate metal dissolution from NiFe‐LDH under high oxidation potentials, resulting in the improved long‐term OER stability. In addition, the cation vacancies (especially M3+ vacancies) accelerate the evolution of surface γ‐(NiFe)OOH phases, thereby boosting the OER activity. The ATP‐binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily is one of the largest membrane protein families existing in wide spectrum of organisms from prokaryotes to human. ABC transporters are also known as efflux pumps because they mediate the cross‐membrane transportation of various endo‐ and xenobiotic molecules energized by ATP hydrolysis. Therefore, ABC transporters have been considered closely to multidrug resistance (MDR) in cancer, where the efflux of structurally distinct chemotherapeutic drugs causes reduced itherapeutic efficacy. Besides, ABC transporters also play other critical biological roles in cancer such as signal transduction. During the past decades, extensive efforts have been made in understanding the structure‐function relationship, transportation profile of ABC transporters, as well as the possibility to overcome MDR via targeting these transporters. In this review, we discuss the most recent knowledge regarding ABC transporters and cancer drug resistance in order to provide insights for the development of more effective therapies. Dual‐metal single‐atom catalysts exhibit superior performance for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), however, the synergistic catalytic mechanism is not deeply understood. Herein, we report a dual‐metal single‐atom catalyst consisted of Cu−N4 and Zn−N4 on the N‐doped carbon support (Cu/Zn−NC). It exhibits high‐efficiency ORR activity with an Eonset of 0.98 V and an E1/2 of 0.83 V, excellent stability (no degradation after 10 000 cycles), surpassing state‐of‐the‐art Pt/C and great mass of Pt‐free single atom catalysts. Operando XANES demonstrates that the Cu−N4 as active center experiences the change from atomic dispersion to cluster with the cooperation of Zn−N4 during ORR process, and then turns to single atom state again after reaction. DFT calculation further indicates that the adjustment effect of Zn on the d‐orbital electron distribution of Cu could benefit to the stretch and cleavage of O‐O on Cu active center, speeding up the process of rate determining step of OOH*. Natural extracellular vesicles (EVs) are ideal drug carriers due to their remarkable biocompatibility. Their delivery specificity can be achieved by the conjugation of targeting ligands. However, existing methods to engineer target‐specific EVs are tedious or inefficient, having to compromise between harsh chemical treatments and transient interactions. Here, we describe a novel method for the covalent conjugation of EVs with high copy numbers of targeting moieties using protein ligases. Conjugation of EVs with either an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)‐targeting peptide or anti‐EGFR nanobody facilitates their accumulation in EGFR‐positive cancer cells, both in vitro and in vivo. Systemic delivery of paclitaxel by EGFR‐targeting EVs at a low dose significantly increases drug efficacy in a xenografted mouse model of EGFR‐positive lung cancer. The method is also applicable to the conjugation of EVs with peptides and nanobodies targeting other receptors, such as HER2 and SIRP alpha, and the conjugated EVs can deliver RNA in addition to small molecules, supporting the versatile application of EVs in cancer therapies. This simple, yet efficient and versatile method for the stable surface modification of EVs bypasses the need for genetic and chemical modifications, thus facilitating safe and specific delivery of therapeutic payloads to target cells. One pivotal factor that leads to multidrug resistance (MDR) is the overexpression of ABCG2. Therefore, tremendous effort has been devoted to the search of effective reversal agents to overcome ABCG2‐mediated MDR. CC‐671 is a potent and selective inhibitor of both TTK (human protein kinase monopolar spindle 1 [hMps1]) and CDC like kinase 2 (CLK2). It represents a new class of cancer therapeutic drugs. In this study, we show that CC‐671 is an effective ABCG2 reversal agent that enhances the efficacy of chemotherapeutic drugs in ABCG2‐overexpressing lung cancer cells. Mechanistic studies show that the reversal effect of CC‐671 is primarily attributed to the inhibition of the drug efflux activity of ABCG2, which leads to an increased intracellular level of chemotherapeutic drugs. In addition, CC‐671 does not alter the protein expression or subcellular localization of ABCG2. Abstract: Electrochemical conversion of CO2 and H2O into syngas is an attractive route to utilize green electricity. A competitive system economy demands development of cost‐effective electrocatalyst with dual active sites for CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, a single atom electrocatalyst derived from a metal–organic framework is proposed, in which Co single atoms and N functional groups function as atomic CO2RR and HER active sites, respectively. The synthesis method is based on pyrolysis of ZnO@ZIF (zeolitic imidazolate framework). The excess in situ Zn evaporation effectively prevents Co single atoms (≈3.4 wt%) from aggregation and maintains appropriate Co/N ratio. The as‐prepared electrocatalyst is featured with high graphitic degree of carbon support for rapid electron transport and sponge‐like thin carbon shells with hierarchical pore system for facilitating active site exposure and mass transport. Therefore, the electrocatalyst exhibits a nearly 100% Faradic efficiency and a high formation rate of ≈425 mmol g−1 h−1 at 1.0 V with the gaseous product ratio (CO/H2) approximating ideal 1/2. With the assistance of an extensive material characterization and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, it is identified that Co single atoms are uniformly coordinated in the form of Co–C2N2 moieties, and act as the major catalytic sites for CO2 reduction. This study analyzed 563 fecal specimens of asymptomatic pigs from five cities of northeast China for the prevalence and genetic characteristics of Enterocytozoon bieneusi. The parasite was detected in 267 of 563 (47.4%) pigs by nested PCR of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer ( ITS). The differences in prevalence between preweaned (58.0%, 94/162) and growing pigs (39.6%, 114/288) and between weaned (52.2%, 59/113) and growing pigs are significant ( p < 0.05). Genotypic typing and phylogenetic analysis facilitated identification of six human-pathogenic genotypes EbpC, O, CS-4, EbpA, Henan- IV, and Pig EBITS5 and six potentially zoonotic genotypes EbpB, CC-1, CS-1, CS-3, CHN7, and CS-10. Genotypes CS-4 (32/35) and EbpC (3/35) from Harbin and Henan- IV (5/64) from Qiqihar determined in pigs herein represented the main causative agents of human microsporidiosis in Harbin. The most dominant genotype EbpC found in pigs from Daqing (35/65) and Qiqihar (a close neighbor to Daqing) (47/64) contributed significantly to human infections in Daqing. Genotype EbpC was also a leading E. bieneusi pathogen in humans, drinking water, and wastewater in central China. The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Fe2Ni(C19H12N3O)2(CN)6(C16H36N4)]·2.07H2O, contains one [Fe(qcq)(CN)3](-) anion, half a [Ni(teta)](2+) cation and two partially occupied inter-stitial water mol-ecules [qcq(-) is the N-(quinolin-8-yl)quinoline-2-carboxamidate anion and teta is 5,5,7,12,12,14-hexa-methyl-1,4,8,11-tetra-aza-cyclo-tetra-deca-ne]. In the complex mol-ecule, two [Fe(qcq)(CN)3](-) anions additionally coordinate the central [Ni(teta)](2+) cation through cyanide groups in a trans mode, resulting in a trinuclear structure with the Ni(2+) cation lying on an inversion centre. The two inter-stitial water mol-ecules are partially occupied, with occupancy factors of 0.528 (10) and 0.506 (9). O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonding involving the two lattice water molecules and the carbonyl function and a teta N atom in an adjacent cluster leads to the formation of layers extending parallel to (010).
