Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) printing technique, which deposits micro/nanostructures through high electric force, has recently attracted significant research interest owing to their fascinating characteristics in high resolution (<1 μm), wide material applicability (ink viscosity 1–10 000 cps), tunable printing modes (electrospray, electrospinning, and EHD jet printing), and compatibility with flexible/wearable applications. Since the laboratory level of the EHD printed electronics' resolution and efficiency is gradually approaching the commercial application level, an urgent need for developing EHD technique from laboratory into industrialization have been put forward. Herein, we first discuss the EHD printing technique, including the ink design, droplet formation, and key technologies for promoting printing efficiency/accuracy. Then we summarize the recent progress of EHD printing in fabrication of displays, organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs), transparent electrodes, and sensors and actuators. Traditional human emotion recognition is based on electroencephalogram (EEG) data collection technologies which rely on plenty of rigid electrodes and lack anti‐interference, wearing comfort, and portability. Moreover, a significant distribution difference in EEG data also results in low classification accuracy. Here, on‐skin biosensors with adhesive and hydrophobic bilayer hydrogel (AHBH) as interfaces for high accuracy emotion classification are proposed. The AHBH achieves remarkable adhesion (59.7 N m−1) by combining the adhesion mechanism of catechol groups and electrostatic attraction. Meanwhile, based on the synergistic effects of hydrophobic group rearrangements and surface energy reduction, the AHB‐hydrophobic layer exhibits 133.87° water contact angles through hydrophobic treatment of only 0.5 h. Hydrogen and electrostatic bonds are also introduced to form a seamless adhesive‐hydrophobic hydrogel interface and inhibit adhesion attenuation, respectively. With the AHBH as an ideal device/skin interface, the biosensor can reliably collect high‐quality electrophysiological signals even under vibration, sweating, and long‐lasting monitoring condition. Furthermore, the on‐skin electrodes, data processing, and wireless modules are integrated into a portable headband for EEG‐based emotion classification. A domain adaptive neural network based on the transfer learning technique is introduced to alleviate the effect of domain shift and achieve high classification accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Electronic‐skin (E‐skin) has been investigated extensively for robotic tactile sensing. However, E‐skin sensors based on flexible metamaterials are still challenging to achieve. Moreover, the implementation of E‐skin sensor arrays in the actual monitoring of robotic grasping and manipulation conditions are rather limited due to the difficulty in data processing. Herein, high‐performance E‐skin strain sensors based on flexible auxetic metamaterials are reported, which endow the sensors with the capability of measuring both compressive (40%) and tensile (>80%) strain in a wide range and superior sensitivity, as compared with sensors without the structure. With perception data collected by the sensors, a generic method for real‐time detection of unstable robotic grasping is established. Through this method, the complicated problem of processing large‐scale arrayed sensor signals is simplified into the calculation of two indices, which extract both time and frequency domain characteristics of the signals. The total detection time (including sensor measurement response and data processing) can be as short as 100 ms, in line with human skin response in slippage perception. Accurate detections in real‐time during various grasping and manipulation tasks are presented, demonstrating the great value of the sensors and the detection approach in robotic perception and dexterous manipulation. On‐skin electronics have been widely used in fields, such as wearable healthcare and human–machine interfaces due to their excellent performances and wearable comfort. Among them, on‐skin sensors for collecting signals have been greatly developed, while the stimulators that provide tactile feedback are difficult to achieve in terms of flexibility and stretchability due to their rather complicated structures. Achieving on‐skin stimulators with superior performances and outstanding wearability requires major advances in materials, fabrication, and structure design. The on‐skin stimulator needs to be soft with a lightweight and thin structure so that it can be laminated onto the skin with conformal contact for accurate feedback. Three stimulation modes, namely electrotactile, thermal, mechanotactile, and vibrotactile stimulation, are investigated. Among them, electrotactile stimulation is the characteristics of high resolution and quick response. Thermal stimulation can provide a unique heat sensation without crosstalk with other stimuli. Mechanotactile and vibrotactile stimulation can bring comfortable feedback to skin, showing great potential in wearable applications. This paper summarizes the working principles, materials, structures, and applications of these on‐skin stimulators, and compares their advantages with conventional rigid devices. Direct full‐color image photodetectors without dichroic prisms or sophisticated color filters have considerable advantages in target recognition and information acquisition for electronic eyes and wearable sensors. However, the ability to combine various multispectral semiconductors in a high‐resolution and cost‐effective manner is still challenging. Here, high‐resolution electrohydrodynamic (EHD) printing, together with ionic liquid methylammonium acetate (MAAc) as the solvent, is first introduced to directly integrate various spectral‐response perovskite films into a pixelized full‐color photodetector. EHD printing enables micro/nanopatterning by using high electrical force to induce jetting, and MAAc improves film quality with scant pinholes and large‐size grains by decreasing the perovskite growth rate. By optimizing the printing process and crystallization condition, 1 µm perovskite dot arrays are EHD printed; this is, to the best of knowledge, the smallest printed feature size of perovskite application. And the photodetector still achieves high R and D* values of 14.97 A W‐1 and 1.41 × 1012 Jones, respectively. Finally, an integrated flexible full‐color image photodetector is constructed, which successfully realizes light signal detection and color recognition, paving a versatile and competitive approach for future full‐color image sensors and artificial vision systems. Structural engineering is proved to be effective in improving both measurement sensitivity and range for flexible and stretchable strain sensors. Herein, the latest advancements in structural engineering strategies are summarized for the improvement of sensing performances of flexible and stretchable strain sensors. Porous structures, wrinkled structures, and overlapped structures can increase the sensing range significantly. High sensitivity of strain sensors can be achieved by crack structures in thin film and strain concentration structures in substrate. Strain sensors with hierarchical structures are able to have both high sensitivity and wide sensing range. Moreover, potential applications of flexible and stretchable strain sensors fabricated with engineered structures are presented. Inkjet printing for preparing quantum dot light emitting diodes (QLEDs) has become increasingly attractive due to its large‐area, low‐cost fabrication features. However, the rather low resolution and coarse morphology induced by the printing and uneven evaporation of droplet restrict its further development. Herein, electrohydrodynamic (EHD) printing and mixed solvent method are employed to fabricate high‐resolution pixelated QLEDs. By optimizing the mixed solvent ratio to weaken capillary flow, coffee‐ring‐free quantum dot (QD) films can be obtained. With the help of EHD printing process optimization and pixel defining layers introduction, high‐resolution pixelated QLED with 306 pixels per in. is achieved, which can meet the requirements of manufacturing mobile phones. Finally, an inverted pixelated QLED with a low turn‐on voltage of 3 V and a maximum luminance of 8533 cd m−2 is fabricated, demonstrating that the presented strategy has huge potential in high‐resolution and high‐quality QD display manufacturing. Abstract: Metal‐network electrodes (MNEs) are excellent substitutes to the brittle and expensive indium tin oxide (ITO) films for flexible and transparent electronic devices. For a high transmittance and low resistivity, highly ordered metal wire arrays with suitable gap and width are essential. Here, high‐orderly and dimension‐controllable ultrathin/conformal MNEs are fabricated on µm thick/curved substrate via programmable electrohydrodynamic (EHD) lithography. By employing EHD direct‐writing, large‐scale high‐resolution photoresist micro/nano‐pattern can be digitally printed on ultrathin/curved substrates, as the digital mask in chemical etching process. The Au MNEs show transmittance of 94.3% (at 600 nm optical wavelength) and sheet resistance of 36.7 Ω□−1 with the optimum pattern which can be adjusted by theoretical analysis. MNEs fabricated on ultrathin polymeric substrate (≈1.5 µm thickness) can even be hanged on a hair. A flexible and transparent touch panel with MNEs exhibits excellent mechanical durability on a small‐bending radius. Additionally, the MNEs are mounted on a fingertip as a “fingertip mouse”, which is perfectly conformal with fingerprints and can successfully control the computer directly by two fingers. Hybrid perovskites show enormous potential for display due to their tunable emission, high color purity, strong photoluminescence and electroluminescence. For display applications, full‐color and high‐resolution patterning is compulsory, however, current perovskite processing such as spin‐coating fails to meet these requirements. Here, electrohydrodynamic (EHD) printing, with the unique advantages of high‐resolution patterning and large scalability, is introduced to fabricate full‐color perovskite patterns. Perovskite inks via simple precursor mixing are prepared to in situ crystallize tunable‐ and bright‐photoluminescence perovskite arrays without adding antisolvent. Through optimizing the EHD printing process, a high‐resolution dot matrix of 5 µm is achieved. The as‐printed patterns and pictures show full color and high controllability in micrometer dimension, indicating that the EHD printing is a competitive technique for future halide perovskite‐based high‐quality display.
