Summary: Existing research on recommender systems primarily focuses on improving a single objective, such as prediction accuracy, often ignoring other crucial aspects of recommendation performance such as temporal factor, user satisfaction, and acceptance. To solve this problem, we proposed an explicable recommendation model using many‐objective optimization and a time‐assisted knowledge graph, which utilizes user interaction times within the graph to prioritize recommending recently frequently visited items and is further optimized using a many‐objective optimization algorithm. In this model, the temporal weight of user actions at different times is first determined through a time decay function. Additionally, if a user clicks on the same item again, the current action's temporal weight is set to one. This strategy prioritizes recent user actions and frequently visited items, reflecting current interests and preferences better. Next, the created knowledge graph is used to create a list of potential recommendations. Embedding methods obtain the vectors for entities and relations in the path. These vectors, combined with the temporal weight of actions, quantify the explainability of user recommendations. Optimizing the rest of the recommendation performance with many objective algorithms while focusing on the user's recent frequent visits to the item. Finally, the outcomes of the research study indicate that, compared to other explicable recommended methods, our model, considering temporal factor, improved average accuracy by 11%, diversity by 1%, and explainability by 21% in the Useraction1 data set. The epidemic characters of Omicron (e.g. large‐scale transmission) are significantly different from the initial variants of COVID‐19. The data generated by large‐scale transmission is important to predict the trend of epidemic characters. However, the results of current prediction models are inaccurate since they are not closely combined with the actual situation of Omicron transmission. In consequence, these inaccurate results have negative impacts on the process of the manufacturing and the service industry, for example, the production of masks and the recovery of the tourism industry. The authors have studied the epidemic characters in two ways, that is, investigation and prediction. First, a large amount of data is collected by utilising the Baidu index and conduct questionnaire survey concerning epidemic characters. Second, the β‐SEIDR model is established, where the population is classified as Susceptible, Exposed, Infected, Dead and β‐Recovered persons, to intelligently predict the epidemic characters of COVID‐19. Note that β‐Recovered persons denote that the Recovered persons may become Susceptible persons with probability β. Cigarette smoking was known to accelerate the occurrence and development of bladder cancer by regulating RNA modification. However, the association between the combination of cigarette smoking and RNA modification‐related single nucleotide polymorphisms (RNAm‐SNPs) and bladder cancer risk remains unclear. In this study, 1681 participants, including 580 cases and 1101 controls, were recruited for genetic association analysis. In total, 1 287 990 RNAm‐SNPs involving nine RNA modifications (m6A, m1A, m6Am, 2'‐O‐Me, m5C, m7G, A‐to‐I, m5U, and pseudouridine modification) were obtained from the RMVar database. The interactive effect of cigarette smoking and RNAm‐SNPs on bladder cancer risk was assessed through joint analysis. The susceptibility analysis revealed that 89 RNAm‐SNPs involving m6A, m1A, and A‐to‐I modifications were associated with bladder cancer risk. Among them, m6A‐related rs2273058 in CRNKL1 was associated with bladder cancer risk (odds ratios (OR) = 1.35, padj = 1.78 × 10−4), and CRNKL1 expression was increased in bladder cancer patients (p = 0.035). Cigarette smoking combined with the A allele of rs2273058 increased bladder cancer risk compared with nonsmokers with the G allele of rs2273058 (OR = 2.40, padj = 3.11 × 10−9). Mechanistically, the A allele of rs2273058 endowed CRNKL1 with an additional m6A motif, facilitating recognition by m6A reader IGF2BP1, thereby promoting CRNKL1 expression under cigarette smoking (r = 0.142, p = 0.017). Moreover, elevated CRNKL1 expression may accelerate cell cycle and proliferation, thereby increasing bladder cancer risk. In summary, our study demonstrated that cigarette smoking combined with RNAm‐SNPs contributes to bladder cancer risk, which provides a potential target for bladder cancer prevention. PDL1 blockade therapy holds great promise in cancer immunotherapy. Ultrasound imaging of PDL1 expression in the tumor is of great importance in predicting the therapeutic efficacy. As a proof‐of‐concept study, a novel ultrasound contrast agent has been innovated here to image and block PDL1 in the tumor tissue. Briefly, extracellular vesicles (EVs) are engineered to display truncated PD1 (tPD1) on the surface to bind PDL1 with high affinity by fusion to EV‐abundant transmembrane protein PTGFRN. The engineered EVs are then encapsulated with Ca(HCO3)2 via electroporation and designated as Gp‐EVtPD1, which would recognize PDL1 highly expressed cells and produce gas in the endosomes and lysosomes. On the one hand, the echogenic signal intensity correlates well with the PDL1 expression and immune response inhibition in the tumor. On the other hand, during the trajectory of Gp‐EVtPD1 in the recipient cells, tPD1 on the EV binds PDL1 and triggers the PDL1 endocytosis and degradation in endosomes/lysosomes in a sequential manner, and thus boosts the anti‐tumor immunity of cytotoxic T cells. In summary, Gp‐EVtPD1 serves as a novel ultrasound contrast agent and blocker of PDL1, which might be of great advantage in imaging PDL1 expression and conquering immune checkpoint blocker resistance. The ternary strategy has proven to be an effective method for improving the efficiency of organic solar cells (OSCs). However, designing and selecting the third component still pose challenges. In this study, this issue is addressed by focusing on the PBDB‐T:Y18‐F binary system and introducing a new, strong luminescent, asymmetric small‐molecule acceptor (SMA) called L8‐CBIC‐Cl, which shares a similar skeleton with Y18‐F. The similarity in molecular framework facilitates good compatibility between the two acceptors, resulting in the formation of an alloy‐like acceptor phase. Furthermore, the norbornenyl‐modified end group in L8‐CBIC‐Cl contributes to its strong luminescent properties, which in turn leads to a low non‐radiative energy loss and a high open‐circuit voltage. Consequently, the PBDB‐T:L8‐CBIC‐Cl:Y18‐F based ternary devices realize a high power conversion efficiency (PCE) up to 17.01%, which is higher than PBDB‐T:Y18‐F device (14.49%). Importantly, L8‐CBIC‐Cl exhibits a good universality as a guest acceptor in other three binary systems (D18:Y6, D18:BTP‐eC9‐4F, and D18:L8‐BO). The D18:L8‐BO:L8‐CBIC‐Cl device shows an impressive efficiency of 19%. The work demonstrates that employing SMA with a high PLQY and better miscibility with host acceptor as the third component has a great potential for developing high‐efficiency ternary OSCs. In order to enhance the corrosion and wear resistance of aluminum alloys in complex and variable environments, an Al2O3 ceramic film was prepared on the surface of 7A04 aluminum alloy in a silicate electrolyte system using a micro‐arc oxidation technique. Subsequently, antimony tin oxide (ATO) nanoparticles were used to dope the micro‐arc oxidation film to enhance the protective properties of the 7A04 aluminum alloy. The structural characteristics of the film were investigated by examining the surface and cross‐sectional morphology and the composition of the physical phases. The results show that ATO nanoparticles can promote the micro‐arc oxidation reaction, improve the surface morphology of the film layer, increase the thickness of the film layer and the denseness after sintering, and enter the film layer in the form of melt wrapping, which plays a role in refining the grain. In the study of the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of ATO‐doped ceramic film layers, it was found that the introduction of ATO nanoparticles did not significantly improve the wear resistance of the micro‐arc oxide ceramic film layers but significantly improved the corrosion resistance of the film layers. Background: The efficacy and safety of the novel immunotherapy method, intra‐cervical lymphatic immunotherapy (ICLIT), need to be investigated. Comparing it with subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT), we clarified the long‐term efficacy and safety of intra‐cervical lymphatic immunotherapy on allergic rhinitis (AR), and investigated the improvement of clinical efficacy of the booster injection at 1 year after ICLIT treatment. Methods: Ninety adult patients with dust mite allergy were randomly divided into 3 groups: 30 in the SCIT group, 30 in the ILCLIT group, and 30 in ICLIT booster group. Changes in total symptom score (TSS), nasal symptom score (TNSS), ocular symptom score (TOSS) and total medication score (TMS) were evaluated in the three groups. Adverse reactions were recorded, and serum dust mite specific IgE (sIgE) and specific IgG4 were assessed in the ICLIT group and ICLIT booster group. Results: TSS, TNSS, TOSS, and TMS scores were significantly lower in the three groups at 36 months after treatment (p < 0. 05). And at 36 months the ICLIT‐booster group showed results similar to SCIT and superior to ICLIT (p < 0. 05). Serum specific IgE decreased in all three groups at 12 and 36 months after treatment, p < 0.01. The ICLIT group and the ICLIT booster group showed a significant increase in sIgG4, p < 0.01. None of the patients in the three groups had any serious systemic adverse effects during the 3‐year follow‐up. Conclusion: The ICLIT treatment is effective and safe on AR. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive cancer with a poor prognosis, which is lethal in approximately 90% of cases despite advanced standard therapies. A typical feature of PDAC is the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment with multiple immunosuppressive factors including neurotransmitters. Recently, neuromedin U (NMU), a highly conserved neuropeptide with many physiological functions, has attracted attention for its roles in tumorigenesis and metastasis in several types of cancers. However, whether NMU affects PDAC progression remains unclear. In this study, using an orthotopic mouse model of PDAC in combination with bioinformatics analysis, we found that NMU was upregulated in tumor tissues from the patients with PDAC and positively correlated with a poor prognosis of the disease. Interestingly, knockout of the Nmu gene in mice enhanced the anti‐tumor functions of tumor‐infiltrating CD8+ T cells in an NMU receptor 1‐dependent manner. Additionally, NMU promoted the glycolytic metabolism of mouse PDAC tumors. The activities of pyruvate kinase (PK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), pivotal enzymes involved in the regulation of lactate production, were markedly reduced in tumor tissues from NMU‐knockout mice. In vitro the presence of LDHA inhibitor can reduce the production of lactic acid stimulated by NMU, which can increase the anti‐tumor activity of CD8+ T cells. Moreover, treatment of the pancreatic cancer cells with a phosphoinositide 3‐kinase (PI3K) inhibitor diminished NMU‐induced lactate production and the activities of PK and LDH, suggesting that NMU might regulate glycolysis via the PI3K/AKT pathway. BACKGROUND: Sacha inchi is known for its high protein content and medicinal properties. Bioactive peptides have been reported to have therapeutic potential in various human diseases. However, there is a lack of research evaluating the pharmacological value of peptides derived from Sacha inchi. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the anti‐hepatoma effect of Sacha inchi peptides (SPs) and their underlying mechanism. RESULTS: The study found that treatment with SPs significantly reduced the proliferation of HepG2 cells by inducing apoptosis and arresting the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase. SPs also induced HepG2 cell apoptosis by increasing the levels of proteins such as Bax, Caspase‐3 and P53. The study identified nine novel peptides in SPs, of which LLEPDVR, ALVEKAKAS and TGDGSLRPY exhibited higher cell proliferative inhibition rates compared to other peptides. CONCLUSION: The findings of this study suggest that Sacha inchi peptides have potential pharmacological effects in the treatment of liver cancer. SPs effectively suppress the cell cycle and facilitate cell apoptosis, indicating their anti‐hepatoma effect. Identification of cancer‐associated variants, especially those in functional regions of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), has become an essential task in tumor etiology. However, the genetic function of lncRNA variants involved in bladder cancer susceptibility remains poorly understood. Herein, it is identified that the rs62483508 G > A variant in microRNA response elements (MREs) of lncRNA Bladder cancer Cell Cytoplasm‐Enriched abundant transcript 4 (BCCE4) is significantly associated with decreased bladder cancer risk (odds ratio = 0.84, P = 7.33 × 10−8) in the Chinese population (3603 cases and 4986 controls) but not in the European population. The protective genetic effect of the rs62483508 A allele is found in smokers or cigarette smoke‐related carcinogen 4‐aminobiphenyl (4‐ABP) exposure. Subsequent biological experiments reveal that the A allele of rs62483508 disrupts the binding affinity of miR‐328‐3p to facilitate USP18 from miRNA‐mediated degradation and thus specifically attenuates the downstream PD‐L1/PD‐1 interaction. LncRNA BCCE4 is also enriched in exosomes from bladder cancer plasma, tissues, and cells. This comprehensive study clarifies the genetic mechanism of lncRNA BCCE4 in bladder cancer susceptibility and its role in the regulation of the immune response in tumorigenesis. Kinesin family member 2C (KIF2C)/mitotic centromere‐associated kinesin (MCAK), is thought to be oncogenic as it is involved in tumour progression and metastasis. Moreover, it also plays a part in neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's disease and psychiatric disorders such as suicidal schizophrenia. Our previous study conducted on mice demonstrated that KIF2C is widely distributed in various regions of the brain, and is localized in synaptic spines. Additionally, it regulates microtubule dynamic properties through its own microtubule depolymerization activity, thereby affecting AMPA receptor transport and cognitive behaviour in mice. In this study, we show that KIF2C regulates the transport of mGlu1 receptors in Purkinje cells by binding to Rab8. KIF2C deficiency in Purkinje cells results in abnormal gait, reduced balance ability and motor incoordination in male mice. These data suggest that KIF2C is essential for maintaining normal transport and synaptic function of mGlu1 and motor coordination in mice. Pulmonary inflammation induced by cigarette smoke (CS) promoted the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and macrophage polarization caused by CS modulated inflammatory response. Previous studies indicated that salidroside exerted therapeutic effects in COPD, but the anti‐inflammatory mechanisms were not clear. This study aimed to explore the effects and mechanisms of salidroside on macrophage polarization induced by CS. Wistar rats received passively CS exposure and were treated intraperitoneally with salidroside at a low, medium or high dose. Lung tissues were stained with hematoxylin–eosin. Emphysema and inflammatory scores were evaluated by histomorphology. Lung function, cytokines, and cell differential counts in BALF were detected. The macrophage polarization was determined by immunohistochemistry in lung tissues. Alveolar macrophages (AMs) were isolated and treated with cigarette smoke extract (CSE), salidroside or inhibitors of relative pathways. The polarization status was determined by qPCR, and the protein level was detected by Western blotting. CS exposure induced emphysema and lung function deterioration. The inflammatory scores, cytokines level and neutrophils counts were elevated after CS exposure. Salidroside treatment partly ameliorated above abnormal. CS exposure activated M1 and M2 polarization of AMs in vivo and in vitro, and salidroside mitigated M1 polarization induced by CS. CSE activated the JNK/c‐Jun in AMs and the M1 polarization of AMs was inhibited by the inhibitors of JNK and AP‐1. Salidroside treatment deactivated the JNK/c‐Jun, which indicated that salidroside mitigated the M1 polarization of AMs induced by CS via inhibiting JNK/c‐Jun. Salidroside treatment ameliorated the pulmonary inflammation and M1 polarization of AMs induced by CS, and the process might be mediated by the deactivation of JNK/c‐Jun. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) widely exist in environmental substrates and are closely related to individual circulating vitamin D levels and tumorigenesis. Therefore, we proposed to evaluate the relationship between PAH exposure, vitamin D, and the risks for 14 cancer types via a causal inference framework underlying the mediation analysis. We evaluated seven urine monohydroxylated PAH (OH‐PAH) and serum vitamin D concentrations of 3306 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between the 2013 and 2016 survey cycles and measured PAH concentrations in 150 subjects from the Nanjing cohort. We observed a significant negative dose–response relationship between increased OH‐PAH levels and vitamin D deficiency. Each unit increase in ∑OH‐PAHs could lead to a decrease in vitamin D levels (βadj = −0.98, Padj = 2.05 × 10−4). Body mass index could have interaction effects with ∑OH‐PAHs and affect vitamin D levels. Coexposure to naphthalene and fluorene metabolites mutually affected vitamin D levels. Notably, vitamin D could causally mediate the relationship between OH‐PAHs and nine types of cancer (e.g., colorectal cancer, liver cancers, etc.). Summary: FLOWERING LOCUS T (FT), a florigen in Arabidopsis, plays critical roles in floral transition. Among 13 FT‐like members in rice, OsFTL2 (Hd3a) and OsFTL3 (RFT1), two rice homologues of FT, have been well characterized to act as florigens to induce flowering under short‐day (SD) and long‐day (LD) conditions, respectively, but the functions of other rice FT‐like members remain largely unclear. Here, we show that OsFTL12 plays an antagonistic function against Hd3a and RFT1 to modulate the heading date and plant architecture in rice. Unlike Hd3a and RFT1, OsFTL12 is not regulated by daylength and highly expressed in both SD and LD conditions, and delays the heading date under either SD or LD conditions. We further demonstrate that OsFTL12 interacts with GF14b and OsFD1, two key components of the florigen activation complex (FAC), to form the florigen repression complex (FRC) by competing with Hd3a for binding GF14b. Notably, OsFTL12‐FRC can bind to the promoters of the floral identity genes OsMADS14 and OsMADS15 and suppress their expression. The osmads14 osmads15 double mutants could not develop panicles and showed erect leaves. Taken together, our results reveal that different FT‐like members can fine‐tune heading date and plant architecture by regulating the balance of FAC and FRC in rice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article discusses a case report of a 72-year-old male patient with bullous pemphigoid (BP) who experienced a recurrence and subacute hematogenous disseminated tuberculosis (SHDT) following hormone therapy. The patient was initially treated with oral prednisolone acetate and later developed rapidly spreading erythema and bullae. The patient was diagnosed with SHDT and received treatment with oral isoniazid, pyrazinamide, levofloxacin, linzolid, and subcutaneous dupilumab. Significant improvement was observed, and the patient switched to oral glucocorticoids after six injections of dupilumab. This case suggests that dupilumab may be an effective treatment for BP with SHDT, but further research is needed. [Extracted from the article]

Introducing vortices into an Airy beam by the interference between the lobes of the Airy beam for the first time, the modulation of Airy vortices is experimentally and theoretically investigated by electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) effect and changing the number of side lobes of the Airy beam. The formation and disappearance of vortices in Airy beams can be caused by changing the number of side lobes. The EIT effect can induce the movement of vortex phase singularity by regulating the intensities of lobes in Airy beams. However, changing the number of side lobes can change the energy distribution of the lobes through the energy flow due to the self‐healing of Airy beams, thus causing the displacement of vortex phase singularity. In addition, the simulation of the Poynting vector shows that the less the side lobes are blocked, the more energy can be retained in the main lobe and the unblocked side lobes, so that the overall shape of the Airy beam can be better maintained. Such studies provide a new method to acquire and adjust Airy vortex beams and can be applied in the realm of optical micromanipulation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is an aberrant autoimmune condition mediated by T cell abnormality, which may cause fulminant liver failure and persistent liver injury. This study aimed to disclose the histopathological and functional engagement of interleukin (IL)‐26, a potent inflammation mediator, in AIH disease progression. Methods: We conducted immunohistochemical staining on liver biopsy samples to evaluate intrahepatic expression of IL‐26. Cellular sources of hepatic IL‐26 were detected by confocal microscopy. Flow cytometry was employed to determine the immunological alterations of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells following in vitro IL‐26 treatment on primary peripheral blood mononuclear cells from healthy controls. Results: Statistically significant increase in IL‐26 level was observed in AIH (n = 48) liver samples in comparison with patients having chronic hepatitis B (n = 25), nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (n = 18), and healthy donors for living donor liver transplantation (n = 10). The number of intrahepatic IL‐26+ cells was positively correlated with histological and serological severity. An immunofluorescence staining indicated that liver‐infiltrating CD4+ T cells, CD8+ T cells, and CD68+ macrophages orchestrated IL‐26 secretion in AIH. Both CD4+ and CD8+ T cells demonstrated effective activation, lytic, and proinflammatory functions upon IL‐26 stimulation. Conclusion: We observed elevated IL‐26 in AIH liver which promoted T cell activation and cytotoxic capacity, indicating a therapeutic potential of IL‐26 intervention in AIH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: Diabetes mellitus is associated with refractory wound healing, yet current therapies are insufficient to accelerate the process of healing. Recent studies have indicated chemically modified mRNA (modRNA) as a promising therapeutic intervention. The present study aimed to explore the efficacy of small skin engineered to express modified mRNAs encoding the stromal cell‐derived factor‐1α (SDF‐1α) facilitating wound healing in a full‐thickness skin defect rat model. This study, devised therapeutic strategies for diabetic wounds by pre‐treating small skin with SDF‐1α modRNA. Materials and Methods: The in vitro transfection efficiency was evaluated using fluorescence microscopy and the content of SDF‐1α in the medium was determined using ELISA after the transfection of SDF‐1α into the small skin. To evaluate the effect of SDF‐1α modRNA and transplantation of the small skin cells on wound healing, an in vivo full‐thickness skin defect rat model was assessed. Results: The results revealed that a modRNA carrying SDF‐1α provided potent wound healing in the small skin lesions reducing reduced scar thickness and greater angiogenesis (CD31) in the subcutaneous layer. The SDF‐1α cytokines were significantly secreted by the small skin after transfection in vitro. Conclusions: This study demonstrated the benefits of employing small skin combined with SDF‐1α modRNA in enhancing wound healing in diabetic rats having full‐thickness skin defects. Remaining useful life (RUL) plays an important role in prognostic and health management to reduce maintenance costs and avoid possible accidents. Massive multi‐sensor data makes it challenging to extract degradation features and predict RUL. This paper develops a novel RUL prediction framework consisted of a multi‐sensor fusion model and a hybrid prediction model. HI curves are constructed by synthesizing multiple metrics including time correlation, monotonicity, robustness, and consistency, making our data fusion method different from existing methods considering only one metric. In many practical situations, the initial degradation levels of obtained HI curves are different, and treating all curves without classification will result in errors in RUL prediction. The K‐means method is used to partition degradation paths into discrete states and the obtained HI curves are grouped by their initial states and then trained separately. A hybrid prediction model combining Long Short‐Term Memory (LSTM) network and Support Vector Regression (SVR) is developed to predict the RUL. This paper studies the sourcing problem of two competing manufacturers in two supply chains. Each supply chain consists of a Tier 0 manufacturer, a Tier 1 supplier, and a pair of Tier 2 suppliers with different disruption probabilities. The two manufacturers are engaged in Cournot competition. The two Tier 1 suppliers that serve different manufacturers may procure from different or the same Tier 2 suppliers. We investigate the impact of upstream supply chain structures on the manufacturers' performance by comparing two representative configurations: the paralleled supply chain configuration, which has no overlap in Tier 2 suppliers, and the overlapped supply chain configuration, which has the same Tier 2 suppliers. We derive the manufacturers' equilibrium sourcing strategies in the two configurations. When the more reliable Tier 2 supplier is quite reliable or the more unreliable Tier 2 supplier is very unreliable, both manufacturers offer a low wholesale price to induce their Tier 1 suppliers for single sourcing. When the more reliable Tier 2 supplier is not sufficiently reliable and the more unreliable Tier 2 supplier is not that unreliable, both manufacturers offer a high wholesale price to induce their Tier 1 suppliers for dual sourcing. There are also certain conditions under which one manufacturer chooses the high‐price sourcing strategy and the other one chooses the low‐price sourcing strategy. Besides, we demonstrate that competition decreases the manufacturers' incentives to induce dual sourcing. In a more competitive market, the manufacturers prefer less overlap in their upper suppliers. The layer‐by‐layer liquid‐phase epitaxy (LBL‐LPE) method is widely used in preparing metal–organic framework (MOF) thin films with the merits of controlling thickness and out‐of‐plane orientation for superior performances in applications. The LBL‐LPE growth mechanism related to the grain boundary, structure defect, and orientation is critical but very challenging to study. In this work, a novel "in‐plane self‐limiting and self‐repairing" thin‐film growth mechanism is demonstrated by the combination study of the grain boundary, structure defect, and orientation of Cu3(HHTP)2‐xC thin film via microscopic analysis techniques and electrical measurements. This mechanism results a desired high‐quality MOF thin film with preferred in‐plane orientations at its bottom for the first time and is very helpful for optimizing the LBL‐LPE method, understanding the growth cycle‐dependent properties of MOF thin film, and inspiring the investigations of the biomimetic self‐repairing materials. Objectives: To assess the impact of risk factors on the disease control among chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients, following 1 year of functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), and combining the risk factors to formulate a convenient, visualised prediction model. Design: A retrospective and nonconcurrent cohort study. Setting and Participants: A total of 325 patients with CRS from June 2018 to July 2020 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat‐sen University, the Third Affliated Hospital of Sun Yat‐sen University, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat‐sen University. Main Outcomes Measures: Outcomes were time to event measures: the disease control of CRS after surgery 1 year. The presence of nasal polyps, smoking habits, allergic rhinitis (AR), the ratio of tissue eosinophil (TER) and peripheral blood eosinophil count (PBEC) and asthma was assessed. The logistic regression models were used to conduct multivariate and univariate analyses. Asthma, TER, AR, PBEC were also included in the nomogram. The calibration curve and area under curve (AUC) were used to evaluate the forecast performance of the model. Results: In univariate analyses, most of the covariates had significant associations with the endpoints, except for age, gender and smoking. The nomogram showed the highest accuracy with an AUC of 0.760 (95% CI, 0.688–0.830) in the training cohort. Conclusions: In this cohort study that included the asthma, AR, TER, PBEC, which had significantly affected the disease control of CRS after surgery. Sophorae tonkinensis Radix et Rhizoma (S. tonkinensis) has been recorded as a 'poisonous' Chinese herbal medicine in Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020. The clinical reaction reports of S. tonkinensis indicated its neurotoxicity; however, there still exists dispute about its toxic substances. At present, no report is available on the blood and brain prototype research of S. tonkinensis. Most studies focused on alkaloids and less on other compounds. Moreover, the constituents absorbed into the blood and brain have been rarely investigated so far. This study established a rapid and efficient qualitative analysis method using UPLC‐Q‐TOF‐MSE to characterize the ingredients of S. tonkinensis and those entering into the rat's body after oral administration. A total of 91 compounds were identified in S. tonkinensis, of which 28 were confirmed by the standards. In addition, 30 and 19 prototypes were also first identified in the rat's blood and brain, respectively. It was found that most flavonoids, except alkaloids, were detected in the rat's body and distributed in the cerebrospinal fluid, suggesting that flavonoids may be one of the important toxic or effective substances of S. tonkinensis. The evolution of writing systems illustrates the development of information storage. Here, a unique way is demonstrated using sprayed anisole as the ink and a focused electron‐beam as a pen to record messages on a cooled substrate. Such an electron‐beam writing approach controls the thickness of remained anisole on the substrate. Optical interference at the visible region occurs thereby, resulting directly in a color print. Using discrete dose distribution, an 11‐step structure with a height difference of sub‐10 nm accuracy is written. A quinary pattern with a total thickness of 180 nm and unit square size of 500 nm is also written, implying information density beyond 1013 bits per cm3 (10 Tbit cm–3). Painting at the nanoscale is also enabled by importing grayscale images. In addition, the substrate can be extended from planar to nonplanar or flexible objects, such as an aluminum tape or a silver wire. Fine particulate matter less than 2.5 µm in diameter (PM2.5) is a major risk factor for acute asthma attacks in children. However, the biological mechanism underlying this association remains unclear. In the present study, PM2.5‐treated HBE cells‐secreted extracellular vesicles (PM2.5‐EVs) caused cytotoxicity in "horizontal" HBE cells and increased the contractility of "longitudinal" sensitive human bronchial smooth muscle cells (HBSMCs). RNA sequencing showed that let‐7i‐5p is significantly overexpressed in PM2.5‐EVs and asthmatic plasma; additionally, its level is correlated with PM2.5 exposure in children with asthma. The combination of EV‐packaged let‐7i‐5p and the traditional clinical biomarker IgE exhibits the best diagnostic performance (area under the curve [AUC] = 0.855, 95% CI = 0.786–0.923). Mechanistically, let‐7i‐5p is packaged into PM2.5‐EVs by interacting with ELAVL1 and internalized by both "horizontal" recipient HBE cells and "longitudinal" recipient‐sensitive HBSMCs, with subsequent activation of the MAPK signaling pathway via suppression of its target DUSP1. Furthermore, an injection of EV‐packaged let‐7i‐5p into PM2.5‐treated juvenile mice aggravated asthma symptoms. This comprehensive study deciphered the remodeling of the extracellular environment mediated by the secretion of let‐7i‐5p‐enriched EVs during PM2.5‐induced asthma attacks and identified plasma EV‐packaged let‐7i‐5p as a novel predictor of childhood asthma. Background: House dust mite (HDM)‐induced allergic rhinitis (AR) is a highly prevalent disease with bothersome symptoms. Genetic variants of the Hippo pathway genes play a critical role in the respiratory disease. However, no study has reported associations between variants of the Hippo pathway genes and HDM‐induced AR risk. Methods: Forty‐three key genes in the Hippo pathway were selected from the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), Reactome pathway database, and previous reported studies. A case‐control study of 222 cases and 237 controls was performed to assess the associations between 121 genetic variants in these genes and HDM‐induced AR risk. DNeasy Blood & Tissues Kits were used for extracting genomic DNA from the venous blood and Infinium Asian Screening Array BeadChips for performing genotyping. A logistic regression model was applied to evaluate the effects of variants on HDM‐induced AR risk. The false discovery rate (FDR) method was utilized to correct for multiple testing. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted to obtain the cut‐off value of total IgE for the diagnosis of HDM‐induced AR. Histone modification and transcription factor binding sites were visualized by UCSC genome browser. Moreover, expression qualitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis was obtained from Genotype‐Tissue Expression (GTEx) database. Results: We found that rs754466 in DLG5 was significantly associated with a decreased HDM‐induced AR risk after FDR correction (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 0.52, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.36–0.74, p = 3.25 × 10−4, PFDR = 3.93 × 10−2). The rs754466 A allele reduced the risk of HDM‐induced AR in the subgroup of moderate/severe total nasal symptom score (TNSS). Furthermore, rs754466 was associated with a high mRNA expression of DLG5. Additionally, histone modification and transcription factor binding sites were rich in the region containing rs754466. Growth and repair processes, both normal and pathological, require reciprocal interactions between cells and their microenvironment. Integrins are bidirectional, cell surface receptors that transduce mechanical and chemical signals to and from the extracellular matrix. We recently reported that keratinocyte α3β1 is required for interleukin (IL)‐1α secretion. Importantly, IL‐1α regulates fibroblast Cox‐2 expression and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) secretion, thereby linking keratinocyte integrin function to a paracrine signal that suppresses the myofibroblast phenotype. We now report that fibroblast integrin α4β1 is required for this IL‐1α‐induced, Cox‐2 expression. Moreover, Cox‐2 induction by IL‐1α requires Nuclear factor erythroid 2‐related factor 2 (Nrf2), the master regulator of redox homeostasis; and integrin α4β1 is necessary to maintain IL‐1α‐dependent, Nrf2 levels. Treating fibroblasts with a Nrf‐2 activating compound inhibits TGF‐β‐dependent, alpha smooth muscle actin (α‐SMA) expression and stress fibre formation. Our data suggest that fibroblast integrin α4β1 regulates—depending on microenvironmental cues—the differentiated state of fibroblasts through a signalling network in which IL‐1α, Cox‐2 and Nrf2 participate. We aimed to comprehensively evaluate the association of body composition with fracture risk using longitudinal data from a Swedish cohort of 44,366 women and men (mean age of 70 years) and a subcohort of 5022 women. We estimated hazard ratios (HRs) of fracture for baseline body mass index (BMI), BMI change during the prior 12 and 18 years, baseline waist‐to‐height ratio, total and regional distribution of fat and lean mass, with and without areal bone mineral density (BMD) adjustment. During follow‐up (median 8.7 years), 7290 individuals sustained a fracture, including 4279 fragility fractures, of which 1813 were hip fractures. Higher baseline BMI and prior gain in BMI were inversely associated with all types of fracture. Lower fracture rate with higher baseline BMI was seen within every category of prior BMI change, whereas higher prior BMI gain conferred a lower rate of fracture within those with normal baseline BMI. Each standard deviation (SD) higher baseline waist‐to‐height ratio, after adjustment for BMI, was associated with higher rates of hip fracture in both women and men (HR 1.12; 95% CI, 1.05–1.19). In the subcohort (median follow‐up 10 years), higher baseline fat mass index (FMI) and appendicular lean mass index (LMI) showed fracture‐protective effects. After BMD adjustment, higher baseline BMI, total LMI, FMI, and higher prior BMI gain were associated with higher fracture rate. Baseline fat distribution also was associated with fracture rate; a 1‐SD higher android to gynoid fat mass ratio in prior BMI gainers was associated with BMD‐adjusted HRs of 1.16 (95% CI, 1.05–1.28) for any fracture and 1.48 (95% CI, 1.16–1.89) for hip fracture. This pattern was not observed among prior BMI losers. These findings indicate that for optimal fracture prevention, low baseline BMI, prior BMI loss and high baseline central obesity should be avoided in both women and men. © 2021 The Authors. Objective: Emperipolesis is a pathological feature for the diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). We have previously found that CD8+ T cells participated in the emperipolesis in AIH. In this study we aimed to clarify the characteristics and molecular mechanisms of emperipolesis in patients with AIH in vitro and in mice with α‐Galactosylceramide (α‐GalCer)‐induced acute hepatitis. Methods: The peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of patients with various chronic liver diseases and healthy controls were co‐cultured with hepatic cell lines to induce emperipolesis in vitro. Confocal staining was performed to illustrate the cellular types and potential mechanisms of emperipolesis in AIH. In addition, a murine model of α‐GalCer‐induced acute hepatitis that mimics human AIH was used to confirm the role of CD44/p‐ERM/F‐actin in the emperipolesis process in vivo. Results: In the co‐cultured system of PBMC and hepatic cell line, emperipolesis was observed most commonly in patients with AIH. The main cells participating in emperipolesis were CD8+ T cells, and they penetrated hepatic cells actively via the CD44/p‐ERM/F‐actin pathway. As a result, most CD8+ T cells engulfed by hepatic cells underwent apoptosis. In the α‐GalCer‐induced acute hepatitis model, emperipolesis was observed around the inflammatory foci and was inhibited by the ezrin phosphorylation inhibitor NSC668394. Similarly, activated murine CD8+ T cells penetrated primary hepatocytes via the CD44/p‐ERM/F‐actin pathway in vitro. Conclusions: CD8+ T cells penetrate hepatic cells actively via the CD44/p‐ERM/F‐actin signaling pathway and undergo apoptosis. The fabrication of functional assemblies with defined structures through controllable molecular packing under physiological conditions is challenging. Here, modularly designed peptide‐cyanine conjugates that intracellularly self‐assembly into 1D columnar superstructures with controlled cyanine aggregation were designed, and they exhibit distinct imaging or photothermal properties. The peptide backbone is cleaved by caspase‐3/7 after entering the cells. Then the self‐assembled residue, with a double cyanine substitution (Pr‐2Cy), forms a P helical column in which H‐aggregated cyanine dyes show 3.4‐fold photothermal conversion efficiency compared to free ones. The self‐assembled residue with a single cyanine substitution (Pr‐1Cy) forms a loose column, in which cyanine dyes with undefined structure have a fluorescence quantum yield of up to 9.5 % (emission at 819 nm in H2O). This paper presents a preventive maintenance policy for wind turbines considering three effects of wind speed: accelerating hazard rate, restricting maintenance implementation, and affecting downtime cost. The effect on the hazard rate is described by a proportional hazards model. The restriction on maintenance actions results in the elongation of maintenance duration. The downtime cost is evaluated based on the power output curve model. Three failure types (i.e., catastrophic failure, critical failure, and minor failure) and multiple maintenance actions (i.e., preventive and corrective replacements, preventive and corrective general repairs, and minimal repair) are integrated into the policy. The objective is to determine the optimal maintenance policy that minimizes the long‐run average cost rate. The optimization problem is formulated and solved in the semi‐Markov decision process (SMDP) framework. A practical example is provided to illustrate the proposed method. The comparison with other policies shows the superiority of the proposed policy as well as the significance of the three effects of wind speed in maintenance decision‐making. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Flexible warranty policies can satisfy customers by allowing them to select the warranty regions according to their usage rates. However, customers are usually unaware of their future usage rates when they purchase a product, which makes it difficult to make sound decisions. To address the problem, this paper proposes a flexible two‐dimensional basic warranty policy with two continuous rectangular regions. Customers can gain experience of their usage rates through the first region, and thus make the second region more cost‐effective. The total price of the two subregions is equal to the basic warranty price, which is prespecified by the manufacturer. The objective is to determine the optimal boundary between the two regions from the perspective of customers. First, the learning effect is used to depict the process of gaining experience from the first region. A warranty pricing model is then developed based on the polynomial failure intensity model. On that basis, the customer's expected repair cost over the warranty period is analyzed, and a numerical method is proposed for the optimization problem. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed policy. Objectives: Collagen triple helix repeat containing‐1 (CTHRC1) is a highly conserved extracellular matrix glycoprotein that is overexpressed in two murine models of cholestatic liver fibrosis. Elevated CTHRC1 has been found to attenuate liver fibrosis in these murine models, thus we aimed to study the expression of CTHRC1 in patients with cholestatic liver diseases and its correlation with hepatic conditions. Methods: Ninety patients with chronic liver disease, including 48 had primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), 18 had primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) and 24 had chronic hepatitis B (CHB), together with five healthy controls (HC), were recruited to this study. Participants' liver sections were analyzed using immunohistochemistry. Serum CTHRC1 levels in another cohort of 59 patients with PBC and 10 age‐matched HC were detected by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. Results: CTHRC1 protein was primarily expressed in activated hepatic stellate cells (HSC). CTHRC1 expression was significantly increased in the PBC and PSC groups, compared with the HC and CHB groups. Importantly, the hepatic fibrosis stage of the PBC group was positively correlated with hepatic CTHRC1 expression (r = 0.425, P = 0.003). Meanwhile, there were significant correlations between serum CTHRC1 levels and both the degrees of hepatic inflammation and fibrosis stage in the PBC group (r = 0.300, P = 0.022; r = 0.321, P = 0.012). Conclusion: CTHRC1 may play a role in hepatic fibrogenesis in PBC and that serum CTHRC1 may be a potential novel noninvasive biomarker in the assessment of liver fibrosis and inflammation. The clinical incidence of tumors in the manubrium is not high. Regardless of whether the tumor is primary or metastatic, the tumor should be completely removed as long as the patient is able to tolerate the surgery. This procedure can lead to sternal defects. Deciding on the method of defect reconstruction is a critical problem that clinicians face. In this , to reduce the limitations of the patient’s upper body movement after surgery due to the inflexibility in the connections of the sternal prosthesis, we created a prosthesis using a computer‐assisted design method and a 3‐D technique, to completely preserve the agility of the sternum and maximize the patient’s post‐operational movement. The method used in the present study takes into consideration the individual’s chest anatomy, sternum stress, and many other biological characteristics. Care is taken to measure the sternum size accurately, to provide personalized treatment, to accomplish precise results, and to reduce potential future damage. Abstract: We sometimes decide to take an offered option that results in apparent loss (e.g., unpaid overtime). Mainstream decision theory does not predict or explain this as a choice we want to make, whereas such a choice has long been described and highly regarded by the traditional Chinese dogma “吃亏是福” (suffering a loss is good fortune). To explore what makes the dogma work, we developed a celebrity anecdote‐based scale to measure “Chikui” (suffering a loss) likelihood and found that:(i) people with higher scores on the Chikui Likelihood Scale (CLS) were more likely to report higher scores on subjective well‐being and the Socioeconomic Index for the present and (ii) the current Socioeconomic Index could be positively predicted not only by current CLS scores but also by retrospective CLS scores recalled for the past, and the predictive effect was enhanced with increasing time intervals. In this present work, we theoretically study the excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism about a quinoline/isoquinoline-pyrazole isomer QP-I system. Compared with previous experimental results, our calculated results reappear previous data, which further confirm the theoretical level we used is reasonable. We mainly adopt 2 kinds of solvents (nonpolar cyclohexane and polar acetonitrile) to explore solvents effects on this system. Through reduced density gradient (RDG) function, the intramolecular hydrogen bond N1─H2···N3 has been confirmed existing in both S0 and S1 states, although the distance between H2 and N3 is not short. In addition, the strengthening N1─H2···N3 in the S1 state provides possibility for ESIPT. Explorations about charge redistribution reveal the trend of ESIPT, and frontier orbital gap reflects the reactivity in polar and nonpolar solvents. As the first example of a photocatalytic system for splitting water without additional cocatalysts and photosensitizers, the comparatively cost-effective Cu2I2-based MOF, Cu-I-bpy (bpy=4,4′-bipyridine) exhibited highly efficient photocatalytic hydrogen production (7.09 mmol g−1 h−1). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations established the electronic structures of Cu-I-bpy with a narrow band gap of 2.05 eV, indicating its semiconductive behavior, which is consistent with the experimental value of 2.00 eV. The proposed mechanism demonstrates that Cu2I2 clusters of Cu-I-bpy serve as photoelectron generators to accelerate the copper(I) hydride interaction, providing redox reaction sites for hydrogen evolution. The highly stable cocatalyst-free and self-sensitized Cu-I-bpy provides new insights into the future design of cost-effective d10-based MOFs for highly efficient and long-term solar fuels production. In the present work, we investigate a new chromophore (ie, quercetin) (Simkovitch et al J Phys Chem B 119 [2015] 10244) about its complex excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) process based on density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory methods. On the basis of the calculation of electron density ρ( r) and Laplacian ∇2 ρ( r) at the bond critical point using atoms-in-molecule theory, the intramolecular hydrogen bonds (O1-H2⋯O5 and O3-H4⋯O5) have been supported to be formed in the S0 state. Comparing the prime structural variations of quercetin involved in its 2 intramolecular hydrogen bonds, we find that these 2 hydrogen bonds should be strengthened in the S1 state, which is a fundamental precondition for facilitating the ESIPT process. Concomitantly, infrared vibrational spectra analysis further verifies this viewpoint. In good agreement with previous experimental spectra results, we find that quercetin reveals 2 kinds of excited-state structures (quercetin* and quercetin-PT1*) in the S1 state. Frontier molecular orbitals depict the nature of electronically excited state and support the ESIPT reaction. Our scanned potential energy curves according to variational O1-H2 and O3-H4 coordinates demonstrate that the proton transfer process should be more likely to occur in the S1 state via hydrogen bond wire O1-H2⋯O5 rather than O3-H4⋯O5 because of the lower potential energy barrier 2.3 kcal/mol. Our present work explains previous experimental result and makes up the deficiency of mechanism in previous experiment. In the end, we make a reasonable assignment for ESIPT process of quercetin. High levels of cooperation and low aggression seem obviously vital to the successful implementation of space missions. To elucidate the effect of microgravity on these behaviors, we investigated whether cooperative and aggressive behaviors would be affected in 16 male volunteers during 45-day −6° head-down bed rest, which is a reliable simulation model for most physiological effects of spaceflight. We used an ultimatum game task to evaluate the cooperative behavior and a revised competitive reaction time test to evaluate the aggressive behavior simultaneously. We found that (1) the participants became less cooperative in the post-bed rest phase in comparison with the pre-bed rest phase and (2) the participants became more aggressive in the in-bed rest phase in comparison with the pre-bed rest phase. These findings provide evidence that head-down bed rest may affect both cooperative and aggressive behaviors in males, suggesting an important perspective for future studies in space psychology.Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
