Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)‐positive cell therapy, specifically with anti‐CD19 CAR‐T (CAR19‐T) cells, achieves a high complete response during tumor treatment for hematological malignancies. Large‐scale production and application of CAR‐T therapy can be achieved by developing efficient and low‐cost enrichment methods for CAR‐T cells, expansion monitoring in vivo, and overcoming tumor escape. Here, novel CAR‐specific binding aptamers (CAR‐ap) to traceless sort CAR‐positive cells and obtain a high positive rate of CAR19‐T cells is identified. Additionally, CAR‐ap‐enriched CAR19‐T cells exhibit similar antitumor capacity as CAR‐ab (anti‐CAR antibody)‐enriched CAR‐T cells. Moreover, CAR‐ap accurately monitors the expansion of CAR19‐T cells in vivo and predicts the prognosis of CAR‐T treatment. Essentially, a novel class of stable CAR‐ap‐based bispecific circular aptamers (CAR‐bc‐ap) is constructed by linking CAR‐ap with a tumor surface antigen (TSA): protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7) binding aptamer Sgc8. These CAR‐bc‐aps significantly enhance antitumor cytotoxicity with a loss of target antigens by retargeting CAR‐T cells to the tumor in vitro and in vivo. Overall, novel CAR‐aptamers are screened for traceless enrichment, monitoring of CAR‐positive cells, and overcoming tumor cell immune escape. Neuron localization is a fundamental step in the neuron morphology reconstruction and quantitative analysis of cell counting and spatial distribution. The recent development of labelling and imaging techniques has resulted in growing demand for automatic neuron localization methods of 3D neuronal microscopy images. However, accurately localizing touching neurons remains a challenge. To address this issue, a novel method utilizing a super‐resolution segmentation network based on 2D Conv‐LSTM and a region growing method are proposed. This network can map and detect individual neurons in higher resolution space, allowing for the separation of closely touching neurons with reduced resource consumption. Subsequently, a region growing method is employed to localize neurons accurately. This method is evaluated using neuronal images generated by TDI‐fMOST. This method achieved neuron localization with an F1 score of 0.91. In comparison, other automatic localization methods achieved F1 scores lower than 0.85. It is also demonstrated that our network has fewer computational requirements compared to 3D neural networks. This method is promising for accurately localizing neurons in large‐scale neuron images. This letter, proposes and experimentally demonstrates a simple and efficient estimating method for high‐voltage floating field ring (FFR). Four rings in FFR are used to determine the influence of rings' distance (d) on the voltage drops of the highest voltage to the third ring (Vn+1) and the third to the second ring (Vn). Then, two voltage curves (curves for Vn+1 and Vn) based on d are drawn. For a target breakdown voltage, by iterating between the curves for Vn+1 and Vn, the number of FFRs and corresponding distances can be found. Based on this method, an 8.0 kV PN diode with 111 FFRs is designed and fabricated. The measured breakdown voltage is 7840 V, which reaches 98% of the designed value. This method provides a simple and efficient design for high‐voltage SiC devices, especially for ultra‐high voltage applications where the number of rings exceeds dozens. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The objective of this study was to better understand the stressors in families of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) to assist with formulating targeted stress management plans for such families. A descriptive qualitative study was undertaken at a tertiary referral hospital in China. Following purposeful sampling, interviews were conducted with 21 parents of children with CHD regarding the stressors in their families. Following content analysis, 11 themes were generated from the data and categorised into six main domains: the initial stressor and associated hardships, normative transitions, prior strains, the consequences of family efforts to cope, intrafamily and social ambiguity, and sociocultural values. The 11 themes include confusion regarding the disease, hardships encountered during treatment, the heavy financial burden, the unusual growth track of the child due to the disease, normal events becoming abnormal for the family, impaired family functioning, family vulnerability, family resilience, family boundary ambiguity induced by role alteration, a lack of knowledge about community support and family stigma. Various and complex stressors exist for families of children with CHD. Medical personnel should fully evaluate the stressors and take targeted measures before implementing family stress management practices. It is also necessary to focus on the posttraumatic growth of families of children with CHD and strengthen resilience. Moreover, family boundary ambiguity and a lack of knowledge about community support should not be ignored, and further research is needed to explore these variables. Background and purpose: It has been suggested that trimethylamine N‐oxide (TMAO) is related to Parkinson's disease (PD) in observational studies. However, the direction of this association is inconsistent. An exploratory Mendelian randomization study was conducted to investigate whether TMAO and its precursors have a causal relationship with PD. Methods: Summary statistics were obtained for single nucleotide polymorphisms related to circulating levels of TMAO, betaine, carnitine and choline, and the corresponding data for the risk, age at onset and progression of PD from genome‐wide association studies. Inverse‐variance weighting was used as the primary method for effect estimation. The false discovery rate was applied to the correction of multiple testing. A p value of association <0.05 but above the false discovery rate corrected threshold was deemed suggestive evidence of a possible association. A range of robust Mendelian randomization methods were used for sensitivity analysis. Results: Suggestive evidence was observed of an inverse causal effect of TMAO on motor fluctuations (odds ratio [OR] 0.851, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.731, 0.990, p = 0.037) and carnitine on insomnia (OR 0.817, 95% CI 0.700, 0.954, p = 0.010) and a positive causal effect of betaine on Hoehn–Yahr stage (OR 1.397, 95% CI 1.112, 1.756, p = 0.004), Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) III score (β = 0.138, 95% CI 0.051, 0.225, p = 0.002), motor fluctuations (OR 1.236, 95% CI 1.011, 1.511, p = 0.039), and choline on UPDRS IV (β = 0.106, 95% CI 0.026, 0.185, p = 0.009) and modified Schwab and England Activities of Daily Living Scale score (β = 0.806, 95% CI 0.127, 1.484, p = 0.020). Conclusions: Our findings provide suggestive evidence that TMAO and its precursors have a causal effect on the progression of PD. Further investigation of the underlying mechanisms is required. A series of benzylaminoimidazoline derivatives was synthesized and evaluated for norepinephrine transporter (NET) targeting. Among them, N‐(3‐iodobenzyl)‐4,5‐dihydro‐1H‐imidazol‐2‐amine (Compound 9) displayed the highest affinity for NET (IC50 = 5.65 ± 0.97 μM). The corresponding radiotracer [125I]9 was further prepared by copper‐mediated radioiodination and evaluated both in vitro and in vivo. The cellular uptake results suggested that [125I]9 was specifically taken up by the NET‐expressing SK‐N‐SH cell line. Biodistribution studies showed that [125I]9 accumulated in the heart (5.54 ± 1.24 %ID/g at 5 min p.i. and 0.79 ± 0.08 %ID/g at 2 h p.i.) and adrenal gland (14.83 ± 3.47 %ID/g at 5 min p.i. and 3.87 ± 0.24 %ID/g at 2 h p.i.). The uptake in the heart and adrenal gland could be significantly inhibited by preinjection of desipramine (DMI). Here, in this work, it is noticed that the huge resistance at Li metal/electrolyte interface dominantly impeded the normal cycling of ASSLMBs especially at around room temperature (<30 °C). Accordingly, a supramolecular polymer ion conductor (SPC) with "weak solvation" of Li+ was prepared. Benefiting from the halogen‐bonding interaction between the electron‐deficient iodine atom (on 1,4‐diiodotetrafluorobenzene) and electron‐rich oxygen atoms (on ethylene oxide), the O‐Li+ coordination was significantly weakened. Therefore, the SPC achieves rapid Li+ transport with high Li+ transference number, and importantly, derives a unique Li2O‐rich SEI with low interfacial resistance on lithium metal surface, therefore enabling stable cycling of ASSLMBs even down to 10 °C. Objective: The aim of this meta‐analysis is to investigate the relationship between interleukin (IL)‐10 levels and its polymorphism and Takayasu arteritis (TAK). Methods: Five databases including PubMed, Web of Science, Ovid, Sinomed and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) were gone through from inception to March 31, 2022. Studies were screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Newcastle‐Ottawa Scale (NOS) was applied to assess study quality. Strengths of association were evaluated by odds ratio (OR) and 95% CI. The T v. t (allele contrast), TT v. tt (homozygous contrast), Tt vs tt (heterozygous contrast), TT + Tt vs tt (dominant contrast) and TT vs Tt + tt (recessive contrast) models were adopted. Results: Seven studies were included. No significant relationship between IL‐10 and TAK was detected in the included patients (P > 0.05). The levels of IL‐10 were lower in the active group than those in the stable group, which was −0.47 (95% CI: −0.93, 0.00) (P = 0.05). No significant relationships between IL‐10 and TAK were found under all contrasts for polymorphisms rs1800871, rs1800872 and rs1800896 (P > 0.05). Conclusions: There was no significant difference in IL‐10 levels between TAK patients and control subjects. The levels of IL‐10 were lower in TAK patients in the active stage. There was no significant association between IL‐10 gene polymorphisms and TAK. Further well‐designed studies with larger sample sizes in patients with different stages are needed. Objective: To investigate the genetic burden in fetuses with isolated and severe fetal growth restriction (FGR) using Trio whole‐exome sequencing (WES) with a normal chromosomal microarray. Method: This retrospective study analyzed WES results of singleton fetuses with isolated and severe FGR, whose estimated fetal weight (EFW) was less than the third percentile by Hadlock formula, in a tertiary center between March 2016 and March 2022. Cases with abnormal chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) and TORCH results were excluded. Results: Fifty‐one fetuses with isolated and severe FGR and negative CMA results underwent Trio‐WES. Of all patients, eight (15.7%) were diagnosed with FGR at its early onset (<32 weeks) and showed pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants involving Nipped‐B‐like protein gene (NIPBL) (n = 3), fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (n = 1), pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 subunit alpha 1 (n = 1), collagen, type I, alpha 1 (n = 1), superkiller viralicidic activity 2‐like (n = 1), and chloride voltage‐gated channel (CLCN5) (n = 1). De novo–generated variants were identified in five fetuses, of which two were novel, including c.6983C>A (p. Thr2328Lys) in NIPBL and c.934‐1G>T in CLCN5. Genetic disorders involved Cornelia de Lange syndrome and metabolic and skeletal genetic diseases. Conclusion: The present study indicates that Trio‐WES can improve effectivity of prenatal diagnoses for isolated and severe FGR in cases with normal CMA results, aiding prenatal genetic counseling and pregnancy management for FGR fetuses. Conventional cavity expansion theory is a one‐dimensional problem and is not applicable for the two‐dimensional cavity expansion issue, which is also required for geotechnical problems. This paper proposes a novel semi‐analytical solution for displacement‐controlled elliptical cavity expansion (DC‐ECE) in undrained soil. The displacement and strain fields for DC‐ECE are obtained from the strain path method (SPM) with the aid of conformal mapping theory. The effective stress can be subsequently obtained by the incremental stress‐strain calculation using a suitable constitutive model such as the MCC model. Then, the computed effective stress results are substituted into the stress equilibrium equation to give the pore pressure solution. The new semi‐analytical solution reveals the non‐axisymmetric characteristics of DC‐ECE and allows the elastic‐plastic (EP) boundary, excess pore pressure, stress, and displacement to be calculated. The proposed method provides a solution to non‐axisymmetric cavity expansion issues and it can be applied to geotechnical engineering problems, including vertical drain installation, flat dilatometer tests and noncylindrical pile penetration in clay. To investigate the settlement response, load transfer behavior, and geometric effect of noncircular piles, a general three‐dimensional (3D) analytical continuum model for axially loaded noncircular pile‐multilayered homogeneous soil systems is presented. In the analysis, both the vertical and horizontal soil displacement fields are considered, and the variations of the soil displacement components are described by the three displacement transfer functions along the x, y, and z directions. The governing differential equations of noncircular piles and soil are derived by applying the principle minimum potential energy and variational method to the pile‐soil system. A complex variable function conformal mapping technique is introduced to overcome the complex boundary conditions of the transfer functions. Then, the numerical solutions of all the governing differential equations are simultaneously solved following an iterative algorithm. The reliability of this approach is validated by comparing some pile and soil responses with the results from existing analytical solutions or a rigorous finite element analysis. Differences in the settlement response and the axial force distribution between noncircular and circular piles are observed. In addition, the pile shaft resistance along the perimeter of the cross‐sections shows that a greater load is required in order to fully mobilize the ultimate resistance of the noncircular piles. We also compare the stress (σ1−σ3) contours of some typical noncircular piles with a circular pile, which provides useful insights into the geometric effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Selective molecular recognition in water is the foundation of numerous biological functions but is a challenge for most synthetic hosts. We employ the concept of endo‐functionalized cavity and the strategy of simultaneous construction to address this issue. The concept and the strategy were demonstrated in the construction of a biomimetic host for selectively recognizing quinones in water. The host was synthesized by joining two pieces of bent anthracene dimer through amide bond formation, affording a deep hydrophobic cavity and inward‐directing hydrogen bonding sites. The host can recognize quinones over their close analogues in water, and its association affinity to p‐benzoquinone is the highest among all the known hosts and is even comparable to that of the bioreceptor. The binding with an anthraquinone reaches nanomolar affinity. Background and aims: The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test‐Consumption (AUDIT‐C) questionnaire screens for harmful drinking using a 12‐month timeframe. A score of 0 is assigned to individuals who report abstaining from alcohol in the past year. However, many middle‐age individuals reporting current abstinence are former drinkers (FDs). Because FDs may be more genetically prone to harmful alcohol use than lifelong abstainers (LAs) and are often combined with LAs, we evaluated the impact of differentiating them on the identification of genetic association. Design and Setting: The United Kingdom Biobank (UKBB) includes AUDIT‐C and alcohol drinker status. Participants: 131 510 Europeans, including 5135 FDs. Measurements We compared three genome‐wide association (GWAS) analyses to explore the effects of removing FDs: the full AUDIT‐C data, AUDIT‐C data without FDs, and data from a random sample numerically matched to the data without FDs. Because prior studies show a consistent association of the ADH1B polymorphism rs1229984 with both alcohol consumption and alcohol use disorder, we compared allele frequencies for rs1229984 stratified by AUDIT‐C value and FD versus LA status. Additionally, we calculated polygenic risk scores (PRS) of related diseases. Findings The rs1229984 allele frequencies among FDs were numerically comparable to those with high AUDIT‐C scores and very different from those of LAs. Removing FDs from GWAS yielded a stronger association with rs1229984 (P value after removal: 1.9 × 10−70 vs 1.7 × 10−65 and 2.5 × 10−62), more statistically significant single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (after removal: 11 vs 9 and 8), and genomic loci (after removal: 11 vs 9 and 7). Additional independent SNPs were identified after removal of FDs: rs2817866 (PTGER3), rs7105867 (ANO3), and rs17601612 (DRD2). For PRS of alcohol use disorder and major depressive disorder, there are statistically significant differences between FDs and LAs. Conclusions: Differentiating between former drinkers and lifelong abstainers can improve Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test‐Consumption (AUDIT‐C) genome‐wide association results. Aim: The aim of the study was to develop and validate a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐based nomogram for predicting invasive forms of placental accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders (placenta increta and percreta) with "uncertain ultrasound diagnosis." Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of a primary cohort of 118 patients and a validation cohort of 65 patients with "uncertain ultrasound diagnosis," who were further evaluated by MRI. MRI signs associated with PAS disorders were analyzed between invasive and noninvasive groups by both univariate and logistic regression to construct the nomogram. The accuracy and discriminative ability of the nomogram were measured by concordance index (C‐index) and calibration curve internally and externally. Results: The history of previous cesarean deliveries (odds ratio [OR], 3.27; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.16–9.27), loss of double‐line sign (OR, 9.49; 95% CI, 3.06–29.48), abnormal uterine bulging (OR, 4.05; 95% CI, 1.53–10.69), and disorganized abnormal placenta vascularity (OR, 3.38; 95% CI, 1.09–10.50) were imputed for the nomogram. The C‐index of the nomogram was 0.85 for internal validation and 0.84 for external validation. Calibration curve showed good agreement with predicted risk and actual observation for both primary and validation cohort. Here we report seeded growth experiments in decane of a poly(ferrocenyldimethylsilane) BCP with an amphiphilic corona forming block in which lenticular platelets grow into classic spherulite‐like uniform colloidally stable structures. These 3D objects are spherically symmetric on the exterior, but asymmetric near the core, where there is a more open structure consisting of sheaf‐like leaves. The most remarkable aspect of these experiments is that growth stops at different stages of growth process, depending upon how much unimer is added in the seeded growth step. Summary: In order to capture the influence of the cavity expansion velocity, this paper presents a semianalytical solution for dynamic spherical cavity expansion in modified Cam Clay (MCC) soil. The key problem is solving the six coupled partial differential equations (PDEs) of cavity expansion, in which the dynamic term is considered in the stress equilibrium equation. The similarity transformation technique is used to transform the PDEs into ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Subsequently, the numerical method using the function "ODE45" in MATLAB is selected to solve the ODEs, which allows the stress and excess pore pressure around the expanding spherical cavity wall to be obtained. The proposed semianalytical solution for dynamic spherical cavity expansion was validated by comparting the degenerate solution with the published quasistatic solution for the MCC model. Parametric study was then conducted to capture the influence of the cavity wall velocity on the cavity expansion response. Abstract: Thus far, reports about the transformations for dynamic crystals of supramolecular coordination systems mainly include single‐crystal‐to‐single‐crystal reactions, and solvent‐mediated processes. This Concept focuses on the mechanisms for solvent‐mediated structural transformations of dynamic crystals, which can be classified into two categories, that is, core‐on‐shell and core‐to‐core. The core‐on‐shell mechanism means that the core of the new crystal is generated from the shell of original crystal, being concomitant with the dissolution of the mother crystal. In contrast, for the core‐to‐core case, the growth of new crystal core and the dissolution of original crystal core will proceed simultaneously, but they are physically separated. However, noncylindrical pile (with noncircular cross section) is also required in geotechnical engineering such as rectangular cross‐sectional pile, X‐sectional cast‐in‐place concrete pile, H‐shaped steel pile, prefabricated vertical drains, and flat dilatometer. This paper presents a novel and general analytical approach for capturing the soil deformation mechanism around the pile with arbitrary cross section. The penetration problem is simulated by a new 2‐dimensional (radial and circumferential) cavity expansion model. Based on the theoretical framework of strain path method, the kinematics (velocity field) of the noncylindrical cavity expansion is reduced to solve the Laplace equation with arbitrary velocity boundary conditions by using the conformal mapping technique. Then, solutions for the strain and displacement, which could consider the large deformation effect, are obtained by the integration of the strain rate and velocity along the streamline. The analytical solution is validated by comparing the degenerate solution of this study with conventional circular (cylindrical) cavity expansion theory. Subsequently, typical numerical examples for the deformation mechanism of elliptical and rectangular cavity expansion are presented to prove the advantage of the proposed new solution particularly in capturing the noncylindrical symmetric displacement field. A brief application of the proposed new analytical solution to the interpretation of the smear effect of prefabricated vertical drain installation confirms its useful in geotechnical engineering. Background: Acid ceramidase (ACDase) deficiency is an ultrarare autosomal recessive lysosomal disorder caused by pathogenic N‐acylsphingosine amidohydrolase (ASAH1) variants. It presents with either Farber disease (FD) or spinal muscular atrophy with progressive myoclonic epilepsy (SMA‐PME). Objective: The study aims to identify a novel splice site variant in a hydrops fetus that causes ASAH1‐related disorder, aid genetic counseling, and accurate prenatal diagnosis. Methods: We report a case of hydrops fetalis with a novel homozygous mutation in ASAH1 inherited from non‐consanguineous parents. We performed copy number variation sequencing (CNV‐Seq) and whole exome sequencing (WES) on the fetus and family, respectively. Minigene splicing analyses were conducted to confirm the pathogenic variants. Results: WES data revealed a splice site variant of the ASAH1 (c.458‐2A>T), which was predicted to affect RNA splicing. Minigene splicing analyses found that the c.458‐2A>T variant abolished the canonical splicing of intron 6, thereby activating two cryptic splicing products (c.456_458ins56bp and c.458_503del). Conclusions: Overall, we identified a novel splice site variant in the mutational spectrum of ASAH1 and its aberrant effect on splicing. These findings highlight the importance of ultrasonic manifestation and family history of fetal hydrops during ASAH1‐related disorders and could also aid genetic counseling and accurate prenatal diagnosis. Wearable piezoresistive tactile sensors are becoming increasingly popular in fields related to human motion/health monitoring, and artificial intelligence. However, piezoresistive materials are still limited in terms of safety and biocompatibility in medical settings, as well as availability under harsh conditions. Herein, elastic and biocompatible hydrogels are prepared by cross‐linking of xanthan gum, polyvinyl alcohol, carbon nanotubes, and glycerol. The presence of glycerol results in hydrogel exhibiting an outstanding freezing resistance (−40 °C). Meanwhile, the controllable, large‐scale, and facile two‐step direct laser writing process allows the fabrication of hydrogels with double‐rough surface structures. By tuning surface roughness, the sensors with the resulting hydrogels show a wide detection range with high sensitivities of 27.5, 5.4, and 2.1 kPa−1 under pressures of 0.1–6, 6–25, and 25–80 kPa. The sensors also display fast response time (≈126 ms), low detection limit (2.26 Pa), good reproducibility of sensing performance (1000 cycles), relevant freezing tolerance (−40 °C), and decent environmental stability (over 30 days). This work provides a low‐cost, ease of manipulation, high reproducible, and large‐scale way for the microstructure engineering of natural‐polymer hydrogels and promotes their widespread applications. Background: Alcohol use (both quantity and dependence) is moderately heritable, and genomewide association studies (GWAS) have identified risk genes in European, African, and Asian populations. The most reproducibly identified risk genes affect alcohol metabolism. Well‐known functional variants at the gene encoding alcohol dehydrogenase B and other alcohol dehydrogenases affect risk in European and African ancestry populations. Similarly, variants mapped to these same genes and a well‐known null variant that maps to the gene that encodes aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2) also affect risk in various Asian populations. In this study, we completed the first GWAS for 3 traits related to alcohol use in a Thai population recruited initially for studies of methamphetamine dependence. Methods: All subjects were evaluated with the Thai version of the Semi‐Structured Assessment for Drug Dependence and Alcoholism (SSADDA). A total of 1,045 subjects were available for analysis. Three traits were analyzed: flushing, maximum number of alcoholic beverages consumed in any lifetime 24‐hour period (“MAXDRINKS”), and DSM‐IV alcohol dependence criterion count. We also conducted a pleiotropy analysis with major depression, the only other psychiatric trait where summary statistics from a large‐scale Asian‐population GWAS are available. Results: All 3 traits showed genomewide significant association with variants near ALDH2, with significance ranging from 2.01 × 10−14 (for flushing; lead single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) PTPN11* rs143894582) to pmeta = 5.80 × 10−10 (for alcohol dependence criterion count; lead SNP rs149212747). These lead SNPs flank rs671 and span a region of over a megabase, illustrating the need for prior biological information in identifying the actual effect SNP, rs671. We also identified significant pleiotropy between major depression and flushing. Summary: This paper presents an analytical solution for cavity expansion in thermoplastic soil considering non‐isothermal conditions. The constitutive relationship of thermoplasticity is described by Laloui's advanced and unified constitutive model for environmental geomechanical thermal effect (ACMEG‐T), which is based on multi‐mechanism plasticity and bounding surface theory. The problem is formulated by incorporating ACMEG‐T into the theoretical framework of cavity expansion, yielding a series of partial differential equations (PDEs). Subsequently, the PDEs are transformed into a system of first‐order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using a similarity solution technique. Solutions to the response parameters of cavity expansion (stress, excess pore pressure, and displacement) can then be obtained by solving the ODEs numerically using mathematical software. The results suggest that soil temperature has a significant influence on the pressure‐expansion relationships and distributions of stress and excess pore pressure around the cavity wall. The proposed solution quantifies the influence of temperature on cavity expansion for the first time and provides a theoretical framework for predicting thermoplastic soil behavior around the cavity wall. The solution found in this paper can be used as a theoretical tool that can potentially be employed in geotechnical engineering problems, such as thermal cone penetration tests, and nuclear waste disposal problems. Currently, no unequivocal evidence is given for elucidation of 'black box' during the structural transformations of dynamic crystalline materials. Here, three types of mechanisms are revealed for such transformations through X-ray diffraction and optical microscopy; namely, single-crystal to single-crystal (SC-SC), as well as 'core-to-core' and 'core-on-shell' processes. As confirmed by time-lapse optical microscopy, the latter two cases can be properly ascribed as partial recrystallization processes, while the former one is a continuous process with two different crystal lattices simultaneously maintained in one single crystal. Interestingly, these three distinct pathways can be exquisitely realized by changing only the halogen substituent (from -F, -Cl, to -Br) of the organic ligands in the coordination supramolecular systems. Objective: To determine serum levels and histopathological characteristics of fatty acid binding protein 3 (FABP3) in patients with polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM), and to evaluate the correlation between the FABP3 and muscle strength. Methods: The study population included 24 subjects with PM/DM, 12 subjects with asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic hyper-creatine kinase-emia (AMSH), and 10 healthy control subjects. Muscle strength was measured by using the Manual Muscle Test (MMT8). Serum CK, myoglobin and FABP3 levels were tested. Correlations between variables were studied by using Spearman's rank and partial correlation analysis methods. Immunohistochemical and double immunofluorescent stainings of FABP3 were performed to investigate its distribution in skeletal muscle. Results: PM/DM patients had significantly higher (P < 0.05) serum FABP3 levels (35.46 ± 38.45 ng/mL) than did AMSH patients (3.77 ± 1.21 ng/mL) and healthy control subjects (4.30 ± 3.18 ng/mL). MMT8 scores correlated negatively with CK, myoglobin and FABP3 levels. Partial correlation analysis was performed and showed that the correlation coefficients between MMT8 score and serum CK, myoglobin and FABP3 levels were -0.276 (P > 0.05), -0.228 (P > 0.05) and -0.927 (P < 0.001), respectively. Immunohistochemical and double immunofluorescent staining showed that FABP3 expression increased in the skeletal muscle of PM/DM patients and was mainly distributed in slow twitch muscle fibers. Conclusion: Serum levels of FABP3 in PM/DM patients were significantly increased and were mainly distributed in slow twitch muscle fibers, displaying a closer association with muscle weakness than did serum levels of CK and myoglobin. Soybean is one of most important dicotyledonous food crops and is widely planted in Hunan Province, China. However, mining activity causes contamination of the soil in which soybean grows. To assess the impact of mining-induced soil contamination on soybean plants, a geoaccumulation index ( I geo) was used to evaluate 20 soil samples from the mining and smelting areas of southern Hunan Province. The results indicated that Zn ranged from uncontaminated to a moderately contaminated level ( I geo < 1), Pb was at a strongly contaminated level ( I geo > 3), and Cd was at an extremely contaminated level ( I geo > 5) across the whole study area. All of the studied soybean plants were affected by heavy metal Pb and Cd contamination, and the mean concentrations in seeds were 13.9 mg/kg and 2.95 mg/kg, respectively. The estimated bioconcentration factor and translocation factor showed that the soybean roots had a strong Cd bioconcentration capability and the stems had a strong translocation capability in terms of Pb, Cd, and Zn, with preferential transference of metals to the soybean leaves. The bioavailable fraction in the soil was characterized by the exchangeable fraction of heavy metals. In the present study, the bioavailable fractions of Pb, Cd, and Zn were significantly positively correlated with the concentration of these metals in soybean tissues (roots, stems, leaves, husks, and seeds). Hereditary hypogonadism in the hpg mouse, caused by a deletion mutation in the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) gene, is associated with sterility, absent ovarian development, and undetectable circulating sex steroids. Eight-month-old female hpg mice had a significantly reduced bone mineral density (BMD) at the lumbar spine, femur, and tibia. In addition, the mice showed significant reductions in liver and kidney weight, with virtually nonexistent ovaries. Successfully transplanted hpg mice with preoptic area grafts contained GnRH-positive neurons, consistent with our previous experience, and the host median eminence was innervated by GnRH immunoreactive fibers. A return of reproductive function was evident from increased ovarian weight and vaginal cornification. Of note was that grafted hpg mice showed a complete reversal to baseline of their BMD measured at all three sites. This work describes a simple and reliable colorimetric method based on the gold nanoparticles without any modification, which can realize the rapid, sensitive, and quantitative detection of lead (Pb2+) and copper (Cu2+) ions, providing a reference for monitoring metal ions in the environmental water. When Pb2+ was added to the gold nanoparticles solution containing a low concentration of L‐Cysteine, the combination of Pb2+ and L‐Cysteine can induce the aggregation of gold nanoparticles. On the contrary, Cu2+ can catalyze the oxidation of L‐Cysteine and destroy the formation of the Au‐S bond between L‐Cysteine and gold nanoparticles, thereby preventing the aggregation of gold nanoparticles. As the ultraviolet‐visible spectrum of gold nanoparticle solution is closely related to their aggregation status, the Cu2+ and Pb2+ can be determined. The calibration curves, which are constructed based on ratios of the absorbance at 650 nm and 520 nm of gold nanoparticles, display good linearity in the range of 50.0−2.5 × 103 nM for Pb2+ and 25.0−300.0 nM for Cu2+, respectively. The limits of quantitation of Pb2+ and Cu2+ are determined to be 50.0 and 25.0 nM, respectively. In addition, the spiked recoveries of Pb2+ and Cu2+ in real water samples are 94.6−112.5 and 87.3−114.7% with a relative standard deviation of less than 6.3%, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Duplex kidney is a relatively frequent form of urinary system abnormality. This study aimed to elucidate the value of chromosomal microarray analysis (CMA) and whole exome sequencing (WES) for duplex kidney and the perinatal outcomes of duplex kidney fetuses. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 63 patients with duplex kidney diagnosed using antenatal ultrasound between August 2013 and January 2023. We reviewed the clinical characteristics, genetic test results, and pregnancy outcomes of the patients. Results: Among the 63 cases based on the inclusion criteria, the CMA detected seven (11.1%) clinically significant variants and nine variants of uncertain significance (VUS), and the pathogenic/likely pathogenic (P/LP) copy number variations (CNVs) in the recurrent region that were associated with prenatal duplex kidney included 17q12, 17p13.3, and 22q11.2. No significant disparity was observed in the CMA detection rate between the unilateral and bilateral groups, or between the isolated and non‐isolated groups. WES identified three (50%) P/LP single‐gene variants in six fetuses with duplex kidney. We detected the following pathogenic genes in the duplex kidney fetuses: KMT2D, SMPD4, and FANCI. Pregnancy termination in cases where clinically significant variants were detected by genetic testing was different in statistical significance from that in cases with negative results (9/10, 90.0% vs 8/48, 16.7%, P < 0.001). Conclusion: This study elucidated the value of CMA and WES for fetal duplex kidney, proving that CMA and WES may be useful tools in prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling. The high‐frequency alternating magnetic field (AMF) is considered as a fascinating heating treatment that provides a noninvasive solution to enhance the catalytic efficiency of electrocatalyst. However, practical applications of AMF in electrochemistry are primarily concentrated on magnetic mediums. To broaden its application into nonmagnetic catalysts, herein, a practicable method is reported by modifying the working electrode substrate with magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs), which serves as both substrate and self‐heating medium by virtue of its rapid and efficient magnetic heating effect associated with Néel relaxation triggered by external high‐frequency AMF, thus boosting the catalyst performance upon it. To verify it, Pt NPs and Pt single atoms (SAs), as two representative non‐magnetic catalyst, are selected for trials. The results, reveal that, when AMF is applied, Pt NPs@C/Fe3O4/C and Pt SAs@C/Fe3O4/C display remarkable enhancement of hydrogen evolution reaction magnetocurrent density respectively by ≈ 146% and ≈185%, whereas on unmodified bare glassy carbon there both show unnoticeable change in catalytic performance. Regulating bulk charge carrier transfer and surface catalytic reaction kinetics is thought a big challenge to photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. Herein, the dual sites of CoNiP are delicately introduced into ZnIn2S4 (RZIS‐CoNiP) nanosheet arrays via a defect anchoring method. The paving [S─Ni─P] interfacial bond like a "bridge" can greatly reduce the phase resistance, improve the charge separation and migration, and promote the surface oxygen evolution reaction (OER) reaction. As expected, the optimized RZIS‐CoNiP photoanode achieved a maximum photocurrent density of 4.77 mA cm−2 at 1.23 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) in neutral electrolyte solution without the presence of any sacrificial agents, which is ≈12 times higher than that of the pristine ZnIn2S4 under AM 1.5G illumination. And the amount of oxygen evolution for the RZIS‐CoNiP photoanode is as high as 21.9 µmol in 3 h. Transient spectroscopy measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations in situ discovered the mechanism of defect anchoring [S─Ni─P] bond on regulating charge transfer and surface reaction processes. Ionic liquid salts (ILs) are generally recognized as additives in perovskite precursor solutions to enhance the efficiency and stability of solar cells. However, the success of ILs incorporation as additives is highly dependent on the precursor formulation and perovskite crystallization process, posing challenges for industrial‐scale implementation. In this study, a room‐temperature spin‐coated IL, n‐butylamine acetate (BAAc), is identified as an ideal passivation agent for formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3) films. Compared with other passivation methods, the room‐temperature BAAc capping layer (BAAc RT) demonstrates more uniform and thorough passivation of surface defects in the FAPbI3 perovskite. Additionally, it provides better energy level alignment for hole extraction. As a result, the champion n–i–p perovskite solar cell with a BAAc capping layer exhibits a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 24.76%, with an open‐circuit voltage (Voc) of 1.19 V, and a Voc loss of ≈330 mV. The PCE of the perovskite mini‐module with BAAc RT reaches 20.47%, showcasing the effectiveness and viability of this method for manufacturing large‐area perovskite solar cells. Moreover, the BAAc passivation layer also improves the long‐term stability of unencapsulated FAPbI3 perovskite solar cells, enabling a T80 lifetime of 3500 h when stored at 35% relative humidity at room temperature in an air atmosphere. The electrolytes for lithium metal batteries (LMBs) are plagued by a low Li+ transference number (T+) of conventional lithium salts and inability to form a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Here, we synthesized a self‐folded lithium salt, lithium 2‐[2‐(2‐methoxy ethoxy)ethoxy]ethanesulfonyl(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (LiETFSI), and comparatively studied with its structure analogue, lithium 1,1,1‐trifluoro‐N‐[2‐[2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethoxy)]ethyl]methanesulfonamide (LiFEA). The special anion chemistry imparts the following new characteristics: i) In both LiFEA and LiETFSI, the ethylene oxide moiety efficiently captures Li+, resulting in a self‐folded structure and high T+ around 0.8. ii) For LiFEA, a Li−N bond (2.069 Å) is revealed by single crystal X‐ray diffraction, indicating that the FEA anion possesses a high donor number (DN) and thus an intensive interphase "self‐cleaning" function for an ultra‐thin and compact SEI. iii) Starting from LiFEA, an electron‐withdrawing sulfone group is introduced near the N atom. The distance of Li−N is tuned from 2.069 Å in LiFEA to 4.367 Å in LiETFSI. This alteration enhances ionic separation, achieves a more balanced DN, and tunes the self‐cleaning intensity for a reinforced SEI. Consequently, the fast charging/discharging capability of LMBs is progressively improved. RNA interference (RNAi) has developed rapidly as a potential "green" pest management strategy. At present, most studies have focused on the screening of aphid lethal genes, whereas only a few studies have been conducted on wing development, which is crucial for aphid migration and plant‐virus dissemination. Here, the Myzus persicae genes vestigial (vg) and Ultrabithorax (Ubx) related to wing development, were cloned. These two genes were expressed in various tissues of 3rd‐instar winged aphids. The mRNA level of vg was high in 3rd‐instar nymphs, whereas the expression level of Ubx was high in adults. The nanocarrier‐mediated delivery system delivered double‐stranded RNAs for aphid RNAi using topical and root applications. The expression levels of vg and Ubx were downregulated by 44.0% and 36.5%, respectively, using the topical application. The simultaneous RNAi of the two target genes caused 63.3% and 32.2% wing aberration rates using topical and root applications, respectively. A compact second-order frequency selective surface (FSS) with broadband bandpass response is presented.The FSS is obtained by utilizing two arrays of patches coupled together using coupling apertures. Three-legged load (TLL) patches and TLL complementary coupling apertures are selected and arranged in an interlaced grid to achieve a more compact structure. Such closely packed FSS has the merits of low-profile, high selectivity, smaller periodicities, low insertion losses, stable performance for various incident angles and different polarizations. Moreover, its 3dB bandwidth reaches to 34.1% while the reflectivity in the central passband is about -35dB. A dual band frequency selective surface (FSS) based on circular aperture-coupled patches is presented. The technique is based on using two same structures with different sizes. A special topology is proposed to arrange the two different sizes structures. Each structure is composed of two circular patches and a circular coupling aperture. The chemo‐regulation abilities of chemotherapeutic medications are appealing to address the low immunogenicity, immunosuppressive lactate microenvironment, and adaptive immune resistance of colorectal cancer. In this work, the proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) of BRD4 (dBET57) is found to downregulate colorectal cancer glycolysis through the transcription inhibition of c‐Myc, which also inhibits the expression of programmed death ligand 1 (PD‐L1) to reverse immune evasion and avoid adaptive immune resistance. Based on this, self‐delivery nano‐PROTACs (designated as DdLD NPs) are further fabricated by the self‐assembly of doxorubicin (DOX) and dBET57 with the assistance of DSPE‐PEG2000. DdLD NPs can improve the stability, intracellular delivery, and tumor targeting accumulation of DOX and dBET57. Meanwhile, the chemotherapeutic effect of DdLD NPs can efficiently destroy colorectal cancer cells to trigger a robust immunogenic cell death (ICD). More importantly, the chemo‐regulation effects of DdLD NPs can inhibit colorectal cancer glycolysis to reduce the lactate production, and downregulate the PD‐L1 expression through BRD4 degradation. Taking advantages of the chemotherapy and chemo‐regulation ability, DdLD NPs systemically activated the antitumor immunity to suppress the primary and metastatic colorectal cancer progression without inducing any systemic side effects. The rapid development of optoelectronic devices with biomimetic synaptic behavior holds significant potential for neuromorphic visual applications. However, considerable challenges remain including convenient device fabrication and low toxicity materials innovation. Here, a heterojunction phototransistor is constructed using low‐toxic CuZnInSSe (CIZS) colloidal quantum dots and amorphous InGaZnO (IGZO), which demonstrates high specific detectivity of 3.4 × 1015 Jones in visible light spectrum. Moreover, it is found that the photoresponse speed can be controlled via a ligand exchange treatment, through that the response speed can be adjusted from 0.3 to 11 s. This enables the device to operate in two distinct modes: a typical fast sensing mode and a neuromorphic visual mode. In the neuromorphic visual mode, the device's synaptic behavior can be tuned by manipulating light pulse intensity, frequency, wavelength, and gate voltage. Currently available guided bone regeneration (GBR) films lack active immunomodulation and sufficient osteogenic ability‐ in the treatment of periodontitis, leading to unsatisfactory treatment outcomes. Challenges remain in developing simple, rapid, and programmable manufacturing methods for constructing bioactive GBR films with tailored biofunctional compositions and microstructures. Herein, the controlled electroassembly of collagen under the salt effect is reported, which enables the construction of porous films with precisely tunable porous structures (i.e., porosity and pore size). In particular, bioactive salt species such as the anti‐inflammatory drug diclofenac sodium (DS) can induce and customize porous structures while enabling the loading of bioactive salts and their gradual release. Sequential electro‐assembly under pre‐programmed salt conditions enables the manufacture of a Janus composite film with a dense and DS‐containing porous layer capable of multiple functions in periodontitis treatment, which provides mechanical support, guides fibrous tissue growth, and acts as a barrier preventing its penetration into bone defects. The DS‐containing porous layer delivers dual bio‐signals through its morphology and the released DS, inhibiting inflammation and promoting osteogenesis. Overall, this study demonstrates the potential of electrofabrication as a customized manufacturing platform for the programmable assembly of collagen for tailored functions to adapt to specific needs in regenerative medicine. Biology remains the envy of flexible soft matter fabrication because it can satisfy multiple functional needs by organizing a small set of proteins and polysaccharides into hierarchical systems with controlled heterogeneity in composition and microstructure. Here, it is reported that controlled, mild electronic inputs (<10 V; <20 min) induce a homogeneous gelatin‐chitosan mixture to undergo sorting and bottom‐up self‐assembly into a Janus film with compositional gradient (i.e., from chitosan‐enriched layer to chitosan/gelatin‐contained layer) and tunable dense‐porous gradient microstructures (e.g., porosity, pore size, and ratio of dense to porous layers). This Janus film performs is shown multiple functions for guided bone regeneration: the integration of compositional and microstructural features confers flexible mechanics, asymmetric properties for interfacial wettability, molecular transport (directional growth factor release), and cellular responses (prevents fibroblast infiltration but promotes osteoblast growth and differentiation). Single‐crystalline metal halide perovskite, due to its large X‐ray attenuation coefficient, high carrier mobility, and facile fabrication properties, is considered as a promising candidate material for direct X‐ray detectors. Despite the rapid development of high‐sensitivity perovskite detectors, their practical application is still hindered by their high dark current levels and the lack of effective approach for assembling the perovskite photodetectors on thin‐film transistor (TFT) backplane. Herein, it is shown that, by using a supersaturated 2D perovskite precursor as a wet‐fusing intermedia, a high‐performance 2D/3D perovskite detector can be fabricated and simultaneously attached to the TFT backplane. The assembled 2D/3D heterostructure perovskite detector shows low dark current density, high sensitivity, and low dose detection limit. This work provides a viable route to realize a low‐dose, high‐resolution direct X‐ray image sensor based on perovskite photodetectors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three types of mechanisms regulated by halogen substituent effect, namely single‐crystal to single‐crystal transformation as well as “core‐to‐core” and “core‐on‐shell” processes, have been confirmed for elucidation of the “black box” during structural transformations of dynamic crystalline materials. The combination of time‐lapse optical microscopy and X‐ray single‐crystal diffraction techniques provides a convenient and straightforward approach to reveal the transformation mechanisms.
