Objectives: The three‐dimensional printing titanium (3DPT) cage with excellent biomechanical properties and osseointegration capabilities has been initially used in spinal fusion, while the polyetheretherketone (PEEK) cage, a bioinert material device, has been a widely used for decades with relatively excellent clinical outcomes. This study was performed to investigate the early radiographic and clinical outcomes of 3DPT cage versus PEEK cage in patients undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF). Methods: This prospective controlled trial, from December 2019 to June 2022, included patients undergoing ACDF and TLIF with 3DPT cages and compared them to patients using PEEK cages for treating spinal degenerative disorders. The outcome measures included radiographic parameters (intervertebral height [IH], subsidence, fusion status, and bone‐cage interface contact) and clinical outcomes (Japanese Orthopaedic Association [JOA], Neck Disability Index [NDI], Oswestry Disability Index [ODI], Short Form 12‐Item Survey [SF‐12], Visual Analog Scale [VAS], and Odom's criteria). Student's independent samples t test and Pearson's chi‐square test were used to compare the outcome measures between the two groups before surgery and at 1 week, 3 and 6 months after surgery. Results: For the patients undergoing ACDF, the 3DPT (18 patients/[26 segments]) and PEEK groups (18 patients/[26 segments]) had similar fusion rates at 3 months and 6 months follow‐up (3 months: 96.2% vs. 83.3%, p = 0.182; 6 months: 100% vs. 91.7%, p = 0.225). The subsidence in the 3DPT group was significantly lower than that in the PEEK group (3 months: 0.4 ± 0.2 mm vs. 0.9 ± 0.7 mm p = 0.004; 6 months: 0.7 ± 0.3 mm vs. 1.5 ± 0.8 mm, p < 0.001). 3DPT and PEEK cage all achieved sufficient contact with the cervical endplates. For the patients undergoing TLIF, the 3DPT (20 patients/[26 segments]) and PEEK groups (20 patients/[24 segments]) had no statistical difference in fusion rate (3 months: 84.6% vs. 58.3%, p = 0.059; 6 months: 92.3% vs. 75%, p = 0.132). The subsidence was lower than that in the PEEK group without significantly difference (3 months: 0.9 ± 0.7 mm vs.1.2 ± 0.9 mm p = 0.136; 6 months: 1.6 ± 1.0 mm vs. 2.0 ± 1.0 mm, p = 0.200). At the 3‐month follow‐up, the bone‐cage interface contact of the 3DPT cage was significantly better than that of the PEEK cage (poor contact: 15.4% vs. 75%, p < 0.001). The values of UAR were higher in the 3DPT group than in the PEEK group during the follow‐up in cervical and lumbar fusion, there were more statistical differences in lumbar fusion. There were no significant differences in the clinical assessment between 3DPT or PEEK cage in spinal fusion. Conclusion: The 3DPT cage and PEEK cage can achieve excellent clinical outcomes in cervical and lumbar fusion. The development and preparation process of a flexible MiniLED line subgrade board on a white reflective sheet was carried out in this paper using silk‐printing nanoscale silver paste assisted bonding technology. The design of the line conductivity parameter ‐ nanoscale silver paste parameter model, printing plate selection, and process verification were systematically completed, as well as the preparation and reliability confirmation of flexible MiniLED lamp board. With the development of wearable technology, there are higher requirements for wearable sensors, such as multimodal sensing, superior mechanical properties, and simple and easy‐to‐fabricate structures. However, it is difficult for existing flexible sensors to possess all these advantages simultaneously. Herein, a flexible multimodal sensor based on sodium alginate/polyvinyl alcohol/graphene oxide double‐network hydrogel was prepared. The multiple hydrogen bonds between the two networks provided the gel with great mechanical properties. In addition, the flexibility and easy‐to‐fabricate simple structure of hydrogels were ideal for wearable sensors. In particular, the hydrogel sensors have a temperature sensitivity of up to 2.81 %/°C between −20 °C and 55 °C and pressure sensitivity of 0.03 kPa−1, both of which have excellent properties of stability and repeatability. Besides, the sensor also presented a humidity sensitivity of 0.027 % RH−1. This work also applied hydrogel sensors to practical applications and provided a new idea for wearable technology. Nano zero‐valent iron (nZVI) is an effective material for dye wastewater treatment, but excessive agglomeration and oxidation greatly limit its application. Herein, graphene (GR) supported FeNi bimetallic nanoparticles (FeNi@GR) are prepared by alloying and carrier supported dispersion for efficient removal of azo dyes from water. Not only can it effectively solve the problem of excessive agglomeration and oxidation of nZVI, but also the synergistic effect of bimetallic coordination formation and the excellent electron transfer ability of graphene are beneficial to enhance the reactivity of FeNi@GR. The optimal FeNi@GR is prepared by adjusting the content of GR and the removal of Congo red (CR) by FeNi@GR‐10% reached 625 mg g−1 within 150 min at pH = 7.0. Higher temperature and lower pH favor the removal of CR azo dye. The action mechanisms of FeNi@GR presumably involve the transfer of active hydrogen atoms and the transfer of electrons generated by Fe0 and Ni0. Besides, the saturation magnetization (Ms) of FeNi@GR is 68.15 emu g−1, which has excellent magnetic response performance. This work not only provides a simple and efficient method to stabilize nZVI, but also reveals that using FeNi@GR is a promising approach for the remediation of water pollution. Background: Because of the severity and fatal outcome of traumatic vertical atlantoaxial dislocation (AAD), most patients may die in the early post‐traumatic period. The post‐injury management of patients with vertical AAD has been rarely reported. Improper treatment may lead to disastrous outcome and further aggravate the neurologic symptoms. Case Presentation: This report describes the perioperative management and outcome of a rare improperly treated patient with traumatic vertical AAD. The severe pulmonary infection of this patient prevented further surgery for vertical AAD. After placement of a halo vest, combined with effective antibiotic drug treatment, the patient's pulmonary infection was brought under control. The patient underwent atlantoaxial fusion using C1 lateral mass screws and C2 pedicle screws with the assistance of the halo vest. A computed tomography scan at 1 year follow‐up indicated that the bone graft was fused and the patient was able to walk independently. Conclusion: Skull traction is contraindicated in patients with traumatic vertical AAD. Application of a halo vest can be used for temporary fixation of the cervical spine and atlantoaxial fixation should be performed to maintain the stability of atlantoaxial articulation. Objective: Medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) is successful in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with medial compartment stenosis and tibial varus deformity, but patella infera is the main complication. This study aims to design a new medial tibial open osteotomy scheme, transtibial tuberosity‐high tibial osteotomy (TT‐HTO), which can fully protect the patellar tendon insertion. In addition, the area of the osteotomy surface and wedge volume were evaluated in TT‐HTO, biplanar distal tibial tuberosity osteotomy (biplanar‐DTO), and uniplanar‐DTO to evaluate the potential advantages of this technology in bone healing. Methods: The tibial tubercle was divided into four equal sections from proximal to distal, which were defined as zones A, B, C, and D. From September to December 2020, the imaging examinations of 200 patients (95 males and 105 females) with a mean age of 40.6 years (range 19–60 years) were evaluated to observe the zonation of the tibial tubercle where the insertion of the patellar tendon is located. Then, 59 patients (23 males and 36 females) with a mean age 59.6 years (range 43–77 years), for a total of 69 knees (32 right and 37 left), who underwent routine knee surgery were observed and verified. According to the position of the patellar tendon insertion, TT‐HTO was designed. Fifteen tibial sawbones were divided equally into three groups: TT‐HTO; biplanar‐DTO; and uniplanar‐DTO. The total area of the osteotomy surface was compared using the graph paper method. The wedge volume at wedge heights of 10 mm was compared among osteotomy types using the plasticine Archimedes principle. One‐way repeated‐measures analysis of variance was used to compare the total area of the osteotomy surface and the wedge volume. Results: The osteotomy line of TT‐HTO passes through the boundary point of zones B and C of the tibial tubercle to fully protect the insertion point of the patellar tendon. The total area of the osteotomy surface in TT‐HTO and biplanar‐DTO was significantly larger than that in uniplanar‐DTO (P < 0.05). The wedge volume in uniplanar‐DTO was significantly smaller than that in TT‐HTO and biplanar‐DTO (P < 0.05). No significant differences in the osteotomy surface and the wedge volume were identified between TT‐HTO and biplanar‐DTO. Conclusion: TT‐HTO can protect the patellar tendon insertion and avoid postoperative patella infera. A hybrid control scheme of the fuel cell air supply system based on model predictive control (MPC) and proportional integral differential (PID) control is proposed for adjusting the oxygen excess ratio at a given setpoint in this paper. In the proposed scheme, the cooperative control of air compressor and back pressure valve in the fuel cell air supply system is realized by MPC. When the system is in steady state under the MPC, PID is introduced, so that the steady‐state error, which is caused by the mismatch between the control model in MPC and the controlled system during MPC control, can be eliminated. To reduce the mismatch between the control model and the controlled air supply system, back propagation neural network and look‐up table method based on bilinear interpolation are used to calculate the output air flow rate and efficiency of the air compressor in the air supply system. Simulation results show that the proposed control scheme has a better performance compared with proportional integral control, active disturbance rejection control, and single MPC. Space‐time accessibility usually denotes the ability or potential to reach some destinations of value according to some given spatial and temporal constraints. While most of space‐time accessibility models so far recognize that space and time dimensions constrain the way humans might perform some activities at some given locations, additional semantics such as the ones exhibited by points of interest (POI) are most often not taken into account within the search space. Relying on concepts behind Time Geography, this article introduces a high‐dimensional space‐time network modelling approach that takes into account a series of POI constraints. We developed an Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) solution search process, and implemented a POI‐constrained accessibility model. The whole framework is practically implemented by an algorithmic approach. The potential of our work is finally illustrated by a practical example applied to the Beijing Happy Valley. Immediate reutilization of discarded blood from surgery has not received much attention, leading to the waste of a large amount of autologous blood. We used a concentration gradient and high‐voltage electrospinning technology to immediately prepare a scaffold material with high biological activity but without immunogenicity from autologous waste blood collected during surgery. Here, we fabricated and characterized a 90 mg/mL group, 110 mg/mL group, and 130 mg/mL group of fibrinogen (FBG) scaffolds. Analyses revealed that the FBG scaffolds had good film‐forming properties and a clear fiber structure. in vitro cell viability experiments confirmed that the cells showed an increasing trend with increasing FBG concentrations. The cells grew well in the scaffold material and secreted more cell matrix. When human bone mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) were cocultured with the scaffold material, the hBMSCs expressed osteogenic and chondrogenic biomarkers. The cellular scaffold complexes from the 3 groups were implanted in four full‐thickness round wounds (Φ12 mm) on the dorsal back of each rat, the 130 mg/mL group showed a 90% reduction in wound size and the data compared to other groups were better at 14 day. These results suggest that electrospinning technology‐based FBG scaffold materials derived from autologous waste blood may become an ideal tissue engineering scaffold and can be immediately used for autologous hemostasis, anti‐adhesion films, and wound dressing in surgery. A compact flexible fractal ultra‐wideband antenna with band notch characteristic is presented. The antenna is printed on a 12.5 μm flexible polyimide substrate, and an impedance bandwidth of 15.48 GHz (3.6‐19.08 GHz) is achieved along with an overall antenna size of 20.5 × 13.9 mm2. The design of the hexagonal radiator in the fourth iteration effectively enhances the impedance bandwidth of the antenna. By arranging two symmetrical complementary split ring resonators on the ground plane, the band rejection of the X‐band uplink frequency from 7.9 to 8.41 GHz is achieved. The average gain of the antenna can reach 3 dBi in the pass band, while the gain in the notch band is greatly reduced to below 0 dBi. Compared with the existing structure, the antenna has a larger bandwidth and a smaller size. Furthermore, the antenna is tested under bending effects. Background and Purpose: Immunosuppressive drugs have shown great promise in treating autoimmune diseases in recent years. A series of novel oxazole derivatives were screened for their immunosuppressive activity. PO-322 [1H-indole-2,3-dione 3-(1,3-benzoxazol-2-ylhydrazone)] was identified as the most effective of these compounds. Here, we have investigated the mechanism(s) underlying the inhibition of T-cell proliferation in vitro by PO-322, as well as its effects on the delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response and imiquimod-induced dermatitis in vivo.Experimental Approach: T-cell proliferation and apoptosis were analysed with flow cytometry. Cell viability was assessed with a CCK-8 assay. Protein kinase activity was assessed by SelectScreen Kinase Profiling Services. The phosphorylation of signal-regulated molecules was measured by Western blot. Cytokine levels were determined by elisa. The effect of PO-322 on DTH and imiquimod-induced dermatitis was evaluated in BALB/c mice.Key Results: PO-322 inhibited human T-cell proliferation with anti-CD3/anti-CD28 mAbs or alloantigen without significant cytotoxicity. Importantly, PO-322 was a selective inhibitor of the serum- and glucocorticoid-regulated kinase 1 (SGK1) and decreased NDRG1 phosphorylation but not p70S6K, STAT5, Akt, or ERK1/2 phosphorylation. Furthermore, PO-322 inhibited IFN-γ, IL-6, and IL-17 expression but not IL-10 expression. Finally, treatment with PO-322 was safe and effective for ameliorating the DTH response and imiquimod-induced dermatitis in mice.Conclusions and Implications: PO-322 exerted immunosuppressive activity in vitro and in vivo by selectively inhibiting SGK1 activity. Ghostwriting has been reported as a particular problem in China, and this article aimed to discover the extent of ghostwriting activity and attitudes by surveying Chinese authors and editors. Three questionnaires were created and distributed via WeChat: an author questionnaire for healthcare professionals, an editor questionnaire for medical journal editors, and a questionnaire for ghostwriters. A total of 1,073 healthcare professionals, 78 medical editors, and 23 ghostwriters responded; 33 (3.075%, 95% confidence interval: 2.041–4.110%) authors reported hiring ghostwriters, most of whom were clinicians (5.06%) or nurses (7.86%) and were in the 31–50 years old group. There was a negative correlation with the level of education. Editors reported few papers identified as ghostwritten, and most of them would immediately reject such articles. The majority of ghostwriters reported working part time as a ghostwriter for less than 1 year and earning little money from the work. The majority of respondents recognized ghostwriting as unethical, but only on the edge of law and ethics, and with few repercussions for the authors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effect of supplementing two types of Jerusalem artichoke powder (JAP) with three different concentrations on the properties of low‐fat (LF) yoghurt was investigated. The results indicated that supplementation with JAPs improved the yoghurt's nutritional value, sensory score and microbial counts, while also ameliorating the syneresis, firmness and adhesiveness that was increased by the LF nature of the yoghurt. Although yoghurts with freeze‐dried (FD) JAP had higher viable counts of probiotics compared with oven‐dried (OD) JAP, the higher firmness and adhesiveness of yoghurts with the added FD JAP were undesirable. The yoghurt supplemented with 4% OD JAP had similar textural property and sensory scores to the full‐fat control. Therefore, OD JAP may be recommended based on its properties and low cost; 4% OD JAP could function as a nutritious prebiotic ingredient and fat replacer in LF yoghurt. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Solute carrier family members control essential physiological functions and are tightly linked to human diseases. Solute carrier family 35 member F2 (SLC35F2) is aberrantly activated in several malignancies. However, the biological function and molecular mechanism of SLC35F2 in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) are yet to be fully explored. Here, we showed that SLC35F2 was prominently upregulated in PTC tissues at both protein and mRNA expression level compared with matched adjacent normal tissues. Besides, the high expression of SLC35F2 was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis in patients with PTC. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated knockout of SLC35F2 attenuated the tumorigenic properties of PTC, including cell proliferation, migration and invasion and induced G1 phase arrest. In contrast, ectopic expression of SLC35F2 brought about aggressive malignant phenotypes of PTC cells. Moreover, SLC35F2 expedited the proliferation and migration of PTC cells by targeting transforming growth factor‐β type I receptor (TGFBR1) and phosphorylation of apoptosis signal‐regulating kinase 1 (p‐ASK‐1), thereby activating the mitogen‐activated protein kinase signaling pathway. The malignant behaviors induced by overexpression of SLC35F2 could be abrogated by silencing of TGFBR1 using a specific inhibitor. We conducted the first study on SLC35F2 in thyroid cancer with the aim of elucidating the functional significance and molecular mechanism of SLC35F2. Our findings suggest that SLC35F2 exerts its oncogenic effect on PTC progression through the mitogen‐activated protein kinase pathway, with dependence on activation of TGFBR‐1 and apoptosis signal‐regulating kinase 1. To identify the role and to explore the mechanism of extracellular 5′-nucleotidase (CD73) in human breast cancer growth, CD73 expression was measured firstly in breast cancer tissues and cell lines, and then interfered with or over-expressed by recombinant lentivirus in cell lines. Impacts of CD73 on breast cancer cell proliferation and cell cycle were investigated with colony formation assay, CCK-8 and flow cytometry. The relationship between CD73 and AKT/GSK-3β/β-catenin pathway was assessed with adenosine, adenosine 2A receptor antagonist (SCH-58261), adenosine 2A receptor agonist (NECA), CD73 enzyme inhibitor (APCP) and Akt inhibitor (MK-2206). Moreover, the effect of CD73 on breast cancer growth in vivo was examined with human breast cancer transplanting model of nude mice. The results showed that the expression of CD73 was high in breast cancer tissues and increased with advanced tumor grades and lympho-node status. CD73 expression was higher in more malignant cells, and CD73 overexpression promoted breast cancer cell proliferation in both in vivo and in vitro. 229 Chinese-language biomedical journals from A Guide to The Core Journals of China were investigated for their guidance on 14 ethical issues. The issues of authorship, duplicate submission, privacy and confidentiality, and integrity of the data were mentioned in more than 50% of the journals. Except for the issues of authorship and protection of animals in research, significant differences were found between Chinese Medical Association Publishing House (CMAPH) journals (n = 67) and non-CMAPH journals (n = 162) (P < 0.05). 66 of the 229 journals did not update their instructions for authors regularly. 196 journal instructions listed authorship criteria, while the other 33 did not. Clinical trial registration policy was required by 26 (11.3%) journals, among which the CONSORT statement for randomized trials was required by 23, and only one journal guided the authors to work in line with the EQUATOR Network. The study concludes that the situation of publishing ethics in the instructions for authors of Chinese biomedical journals is not favorable, and that Chinese biomedical editors should learn more about publishing ethics in order to reduce opportunities for publication problems. Although microRNA-1 ( miR-1 ) is a known liver cancer suppressor, the role of miR-1 in apoptosis of hepatoma cells has remained largely unknown. Our study shows that ectopic miR-1 overexpression induced apoptosis of liver hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cells. Apoptosis inhibitor 5 ( API-5 ) was found to be a potential regulator of miR-1 induced apoptosis, using a bioinformatics approach. Furthermore, an inverse relationship between miR-1 and API-5 expression was observed in human liver cancer tissues and adjacent normal liver tissues. Negative regulation of API-5 expression by miR-1 was demonstrated to promote apoptosis of HepG2 cells. Our study provides a novel regulatory mechanism of miR-1 in the apoptosis of hepatoma cells. Although Treg-cell-mediated suppression during infection or autoimmunity has been described, functions of Treg cells during highly pathogenic avian influenza virus infection remain poorly characterized. Here we found that in Foxp3- GFP transgenic mice, CD8+ Foxp3+ Treg cells, but not CD4+ Foxp3+ Treg cells, were remarkably induced during H5 N1 infection. In addition to expressing CD25, the CD8+ Foxp3+ Treg cells showed a high level of GITR and produced IL-10. In an adoptive transfer model, CD8+ Treg cells suppressed CD8+ T-cell responses and promoted H5 N1 virus infection, resulting in enhanced mortality and increased virus load in the lung. Furthermore, in vitro neutralization of IL-10 and studies with IL-10 R-deficient mice in vitro and in vivo demonstrated an important role for IL-10 production in the capacity of CD8+ Treg cells to inhibit CD8+ T-cell responses. Our findings identify a previously unrecognized role of CD8+ Treg cells in the negative regulation of CD8+ T-cell responses and suggest that modulation of CD8+ Treg cells may be a therapeutic strategy to control H5 N1 viral infection. Objective The inflammasome-related protein NLRP1/NALP1 has been implicated in the onset and progression of some autoimmune diseases. This study was undertaken to determine whether a polymorphism in the NLRP1 gene is associated with susceptibility to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Han Chinese and to assess the functional implications of this association. Methods RA patients (n = 190) and matched healthy controls (n = 190) residing in the city of Chengdu were genotyped for the NLRP1 promoter polymorphisms rs6502867 and rs878329. Genotyping for rs878329 was performed in a second set of subjects (n = 1,514) residing in the city of Chongqing. The effect of each polymorphism on NLRP1 transcription was evaluated by dual-luciferase assay, while the effect on DNA protein interaction was determined by electrophoretic mobility shift assay. Differential expression of NLRP1 in individuals with different genotypes was investigated by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results The polymorphism rs878329, but not rs6502867, was associated with RA (odds ratio [OR] 0.83, P = 0.02 for the C allele; OR 0.42, P = 0.01 for the CC genotype). The GG genotype of rs878329 was the risk genotype for RA (OR 2.38) and had a runt-related transcription factor 1 binding site that up-regulated NLRP1 transcription. Individuals with the RA risk genotype GG had significantly higher NLRP1 messenger RNA levels than those with the CC genotype among the Han Chinese population. Conclusion Our findings indicate that NLRP1 is associated with RA in Han Chinese. The G allele of rs878329 in the NLRP1 promoter up-regulates gene transcription and confers the risk of RA. Background DNA vaccination is a strategy that has been developed primarily to elicit protective immunity against infection and cancer. Methods DNA vaccine was used, in conjunction with an immunosuppressant, to tolerize harmful autoimmunity. Results Immunization of C57BL/6 mice with MOG35-55, a myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein-derived peptide, and FK506 (Tacrolimus) as a tolerogenic adjuvant stimulated regulatory dendritic cells, induced antigen-specific regulatory T cells (Treg), and protected the animals from subsequent induction of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). After EAE induction, there were fewer lymphocytes, including fewer T helper 17 cells, and more Treg infiltrating the spinal cord in the immunized mice compared to in control mice. Furthermore, at the peak of the EAE manifestation, CD4 T cells in the immunized mice showed decreased expression of interferon-γ and interleukin (IL)-17, but not IL-4, in treated mice. The five-membered ring adopts an envelope conformation, while the six-membered ring is in a boat conformation. The ep-oxy O atom on the six-membered ring is pointing away from the five-membered ring. An inter-stitial methanol solvent mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to the cytochalasin mol-ecules and inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules into infinite chains along the (10) direction.
