Dentin dysplasia (DD) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder of dentin development, which is generally divided into two types based on the clinical and radiographic appearance of the affected dentinal tissues: Type-I (Radicular DD) and Type-II (Coronal DD). This paper reports the case of a 17-year-old female patient with both classical and atypical features of radicular DD in the permanent dentition. The present case shows clinically normal appearing crowns, localised mobility in the maxillary teeth, completely obliterated pulp chambers, widened root canals without any obliterations and the presence of multiple periapical radiolucencies. The clinical and radiographic findings observed in this present case report are different from those reported in the past literature, which suggests that the present case could be a variation of radicular DD. Dentinogenesis Imperfecta and dentin dysplasia are genetic oral diseases inherited in a simple autosomal dominant mode, with high penetrance and a low mutation rate. Both of them are present with bulbous crowns, marked cervical constrictions, severe attritions, few periapical radiolucencies, and premature tooth loss. The diagnosis is based on family history, and detailed clinical examination, while genetic diagnosis may become useful in the future once sufficient disease-causing mutations have been discovered. Dentin dysplasias form a rare group of hereditary dentin malformations characterized clinically by normal appearing crowns but extreme mobility of teeth due to defective root formation. Both deciduous and permanent teeth may be affected. Delayed eruption and malocclusion may be associated features. This disorder is broadly classifi ed into two types: Type I (radicular dentin dysplasia) and Type II (coronal dentin dysplasia). Type I is more common and is known by the term 'rootless teeth.' The diffi culties encountered with rootless teeth are obvious: there is no anchorage, there is compromised blood supply, deranged homeostatic mechanisms of the tooth as well as overload of masticatory and other stresses on the crowns leading to their early exfoliation. Dentin dysplasia is an exceptionally rare, autosomal-dominant, hereditary condition, primarily characterized by defective dentin formation affecting both the deciduous and permanent dentitions. The etiology remains imprecise to date, in spite of the numerous hypotheses put forward and the constant updates on this condition. This case report of type I dentin dysplasia exhibits radiographic findings that are unique and diverse from the classical findings of various subtypes of this disease reported to date. This article also depicts the implant-based oral rehabilitation of the young patient diagnosed with this variant model of dentin dysplasia type I. Early diagnosis and implementation of this preventive and curative therapy is vital for avoiding premature exfoliation of deciduous and permanent dentition and the associated residual ridge resorption, thereby overcoming functional and esthetic deficits and ensuring protection of the remaining dentition from further harm. Abstract: Dentin dysplasia (DD) type I is a hereditary disturbance in dentin formation. In this anomaly, the teeth generally appear clinically unremarkable with normal crowns; and radiographically it is characterized by normal appearing crowns, absence or severe restriction of root formation, obliterated pulp chambers, and periapical radiolucencies without an obvious cause. Clinically, the teeth can be poorly aligned, drifting and mobile, and can prematurely exfoliate due to abnormal root formation. This condition is rarely encountered in dental practice. Little is known about the specific treatment of this disorder and management of patients with DD has presented with problems. This report documents a case of DD type I in a 19-year-old male and the clinical, radiographic, and histopathologic findings of this condition and treatment are described. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Amelogenesis imperfecta is a hereditary disorder with diverse clinical presentation, where enamel is the tissue that is primarily affected either quantitatively or qualitatively. Hypomaturation/hypoplastic amelogenesis imperfecta with taurodontism is a rare variant of amelogenesis imperfecta which is often confused with trichodentoosseous syndrome. Dentin dysplasia (DD) is an uncommon developmental disturbance affecting dentin, resulting in enamel with atypical dentin formation and abnormal pulpal morphology. Type I (radicular) and Type II (coronal) are the two types of DD. Type I is more common, and both types include single or multiple teeth in primary and permanent dentition.
