In this article the author discusses the benefits of reducing paper in the practice of law the mitigate the carbon footprint of the legal profession. The move toward the adoption of electronic files instead of paper files is recommended. The advantages of using email and scanning systems for law practitioners are cited, including space savings and greater flexibility. The author also discusses relevant issues on using electronic files such as improving backup and keeping track of documents.
