Carios capensis (Neumann, 1901) Host(s) Seabirds: Pterodroma neglecta, Pterodroma nigripennis, Puffinus assimilis, Phaethon rubricauda, Morus serrator, Stictocarbo punctatus punctatus, Larus novaehollandiae scopulinus, Anous stolidus pileatus, Onychoprion fuscatus serratus. Land bird: Porzana tabuensis tabuensis. Distribution World: Widespread on islands of the South Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, and occasionally on the mainland between 40 ºN and 45 ºS. Extralimital records in the Northern Hemisphere have been considered doubtful. New Zealand: Somes Island (Wellington Harbour), Cape Kidnappers, Raglan, West Coast, Banks Peninsula.
