This method is an excellent way to obtain the title compounds in quantitative yields in a simple and cost effective way. Applying this methodology, different heterocycles possessing 1,3- oxathiolan-5-one moiety were synthesized.

The one pot methodology allowed shorter reaction times, easy isolation of the products and good to excellent yields. The method is practical and efficient for parallel synthesis of the important class of heterocyclic compounds.
