The reaction of furfuryl and polyatomic alcohols synthesized hydroxyl-containing furan oligomers and their physical-chemical properties have been studied. Using these oligomers, industrial foams are modified and rigid polyurethane foams are developed. The influence of the nature of the synthesized furan oligomers on the performance properties of rigid polyurethane foams is presented. Аннотация Реакцией фурфурилового и многоатомных спиртов синтезированы гидроксилсодержащие фурановые олигомеры и изучены их физико-химические свойства. Использованием этих олигомеров модифицированы промышленные пенопласты и разработаны жесткие пенополиуретаны. The reactions exhibit zero-order rate dependence with respect to each polyhydric alcohol and first order at low concentration range of KBrO3 was observed to tend to zero at its higher concentrations. A suitable mechanism consistent with the experimental results has been proposed.

College, Agra, India Manuscript received 23 July 1979, accepted 29:December 1979 Kinetics of oxidation of dulcitol by chloramine-T in alkaline media has been investi��gated. A brief initial induction period has been observed after which the reaction shows a first order dependence each in [chloramine-T], [dulcitol] and [OH-]. The effect of added neutral salts on the reaction rate is negligible. Energy of activation is observed to be 33.3 Kcal/mole for the reaction. A plausible mechanism consistent to the experimental data has been proposed.

This paper describes the preparations and reactions of the condensation products of chloral and bromal with ethylene glycol and glycerol, and of chloral with erythritol. Bromal is found to be more reactive than chloral.
